Product is nice and working but the mic case was not covered by Amazon.. disappointed to see scratches on it and damaged
The mic is really good. Sturdy. Good quality vocals. At a price range, this really seals the deal. Note this a cardioid electrect condensor mic. If u are looking for a large diaphragm, true condensor mic, then go for the higher version.
This Mic is really good. I got it hooked up to a M-Track Solo Interface and It’s pairs well and sounds amazing. It also arrived just 8 days where as the expected was 20.
This is the best condenser mic at this price point. Excellent build quality. Excellent sound. Excellent for 99% of users. It easily exceeds any and all audio quality requirements for streaming or recordings that are transmitted over the Internet.
I’d recommend buying an audio mixer so there’s not any background noise but other than that its an amazing microphone with great quality
I got a nice bargain, it cost me 6.4k. It was either this or AT2020, Fist impression : it’s got a crisp sound, and there is so much more detail than my previous dynamic microphone.
I mainly use it to work on voiceover and to record instructions for school kids. It picks up quite a lot of frequencies. I have never heard my voice in such detail.
I was so impressed by this microphone, that I tried to record my valve amp using this, I had never managed to record a good balanced sound from my extremely loud Vox. This microphone with it dB cut, managed to get a workable sound.
Though I must mention, if you live in a place with background noise it’s going to pick up everything.
So,it’s kinda important to have a sound isolated room.
I wanted to upgrade my rather modest mic collection and felt a proper condenser mic was the way to go. I was between this and the AKG P120 as a replacement for my old Behringer C1. I had a $25 gift card and found a P220 used so the price was almost exactly the same as just buying a new P120, so I went for it and I’m so glad I did.
I performed a quick comparison by miking my bass cab with first the Behringer C1, then the P220, and lastly my Shure Beta57 just cause, why not…?! The amount of low-end depth that the P220 added while still maintaining a crisper top end and less of a nasal midrange than the C1 was immediately apparent. Next I want to see how well it captures my acoustic. This is my one mic to rule them all!
I’ve tried a couple of these mics. Had to send them back for poor performance. I tried this one and am very happy. It’s super clear and sensitive. For the price, it would be hard to beat. Well made, all metal and easy to use. Highly recommend it.
This was a birthday present to go with the microphone arm which I also bought.
After a little bit of readjusting and with the help of his dad my son got this just right and is perfectly happy with his microphone.
This mic is the best not just because of its price range but also due to the quality of sound it gives.
Very happy with the purchase.
These mics sound great. Don’t let the price fool you.
I have had this mic for a while now, and really enjoy the recordings I am getting from it with my acoustic guitar and spoken word. I do have an SM57 which I love for recording electric guitar and which does work well for acoustic, but sometimes the AKG P120 just sounds better (YMMV). Excellent quality!
I had recently bought a Behringer C3 and compared it to this AKG as soon as I got it. There really was no comparison. The sound just got noisier as you switched to the figure 8 or omni-directional settings on the C3. The AKG was clear as a bell, and I was amazed how transparent the sound is. This AKG is not too expensive, but a big improvement over the Shure SM-57 microphones I had been using. Get two!
Use for recording studio, upgraded from cheaper model. It makes the most difference when your raw input signal is the best it can be. Vocal, and guitar use, even in high spl massive overdriven application performs well above its pay grade. Unlike the cheaper model, you will need a pop filter, and the tv down the hall muted ;).
Highly recommend AKG
Good for Home Studio Recording, pro audio purpose.
Good clarity with decent depth at low.
Need to boost Mid high and high side for crisp texture.
Overall it’s a good microphone.
New to Audio impressed by the AKG products and I am well pleased with my choice.
This is great. This was recommended to me and it is great fir the price. Great quality, and I am even going to purchase more for my guys in my acapella group so we can start working on our album.
Top-quality for the price. AKG is a brand name you can trust! All metal construction. Excellent for voice or instrument.
UPDATE: I was able to return and get the same order. After using for a few months, I am quite happy with my purchase and already received a few compliments on the sound quality of my mic.
I received my order today 2/10/21 with the mic case broken.
The mic is nice and sounds nice for my voice (4.5 stars). However, seeing the damage on the case gives me pause that this mic may have sustained some kind of damage. Right now it sounds alright. As these things go, the problem might rear its ugly face once the return window expires.
It came in an Amazon shipping box that wasn’t damaged which makes me think the damage was sustained before shipping. My item should be labeled/priced as refurbished.
Decent product, i did my research before buying it and yeah its a nice mic.
BTW, I have not personally compared or used an AT2020 to judge this is better than or not. I am a big fan of Audio Technica and I am sure the AT2020 would be awesome too.
Though it’s my first condenser mic. Wonder where it had been all my life. Great price
Coupled with my Scarlett interface, this thing does everything I could want it to do. That said, I’m not a professional in audio at all. So more discriminating ears might find fault with this. However, I do not.
The ribbon pattern is just icing on t cake. With this mic and a small diaphragm condenser mic I can get a nice stereo image with just one take.
Worth every rupee I spent on this!!!
This is my first XLR mic that I’m using for voiceover work and I could not be more happy! This mic has a couple of settings that you can mess with, but I have found myself leaving the switches at stock. Great mic for people who have a deeper voice, make sure you have the proper recording space before buying a sensitive mic like this one! Really cool stuff!
The first order gave me a faulty microphone, which made me scared.
When I returned it, they gave a new one, without charging any extra cost, and that works perfect!!
Its a very good microphone no doubt. But while zoom meet the voice is low on the ipad.
But
Recording quality is amazing on audacity.
I think this is the best microohone in according to budget. It gives the professional output with the best quality. I guess it is the perfect Condenser for bedroom producers and home studio producers as well as professional studio producers.
gud for singers but be sure you have gud qwality of xlr cables and interface 48 volt phantom this mic requires some amount of gain heavy and look osm but it has lower qwality than other mic because it has small diaphram so if you are professiin go for 1 inch diaphram mic like rode nt1 or nt2
Mic was not working, so I ordered replacement. The replacement mic was also not working. I have another mic which is working fine using the same xlr cable. No other option but to apply for refund.
Update: i bought another xlr cable and it worked! You will need a really nice cable to get it working…i am really happy with the performance! Thank you amazom!
Best value for the money got it for 6300 rs. In great indian sale. Vocal clarity is superb I’m using for rap vocals and should do great for any genre.but don’t use in noisy environments cuz it’s so sensitive that pickup every noise in the room.
excellent microphone for this price range. Good one if u want to set up a home studio with out compromising quality and if ur on a budget. I bought this together with a scarlet 2i2 solo. I got this mic for around 6999 and scarlet solo for 9799. Wait for festive season if u want to grab great deals !
because I have tried at2020, akg220 etc … So I think this one is best option under 15000 range…. Maine ish mic ko youtube song ke liye purchased kiyaa h ….
All is well and I have been using it for vocal dubbing. It works great only if you have a good XLR cable and Audio Int. Otherwise it will create more hissing… product is good but packaging looked like it was a used product. I don’t mind using it but it was very poorly packed and handled by delivery agent.
Bit heavy, but it’s amazing and I love it. Great sound quality and no background noise.
It gives sound good quality but I observed an extensive fluctuation in price around ~2K in single day.. sounds strange..
Now coming to the package i was so shocked and disappointed to find out that such an expensive item came without any proper protective coating. It was just packed with a think layer of its own cover and amazon sticker on it. And to my bigger dismay, I found out the package was already opened – meaning not a sealed pack.
I was immediately skeptical about it and checked it immediately. But it seems to be working perfectly which is why I decided to keep it and not returned.
It is my humble request to sellers: please pack any expensive and delicate items at least with some sort of foam or hard coating so that it’s not damaged while it’s being shipped. Because if the product gets damaged or scratched (which is no fault of the customer) we the innocent customers have to go through a hell hassle to request for a return or replacement or whatever.
Pros: 1.Onboard switch option for a bass roll-off switch and 20dB pad add to this mic’s versatility
2. Good for both vocal and instruments.
Conclusion: This is a really good mic for those who are just starting out and also for those who are mid-range voice-over artists or singers. Voice sounds very natural and crispy.
if you want to know more about the performance you can DM me on my Instagram: min_genaa
An as, si quieres mejor calidad debes ir por el p220.
For the price this is a perfect beginner home studio condenser. It is my first and it has clean crisp quality. I use it with the focusrite scarlett 2i2 usb interface and a macbook pro. This mic has great value for the price. You are getting a nicely padded hardshell case and a heavy duty metal shockmount. Extra shockmount bands are also included. I recommend you also purchase a pop filter and a sound isolation shield to enhance the quality of the mic. It is a condenser so it is very sensitive to background noise if a noisegate isnt applied via a DAW. Otherwise there is no hissing or any ambient noise that I detect thus far and it is holding up well. Highly reccomend
Sound is beautiful and the mic arrived very fast in the post.
I feel that this Condenser Microphone complements the tone of my voice better than what I have used in the past. Defo brilliant quality for a budget. ‘Thumbs Up’ from me.
Bought as a present for my musician brother who was very pleased with it and the quality
Having a small budget I needed a good microphone that I can use with FL Studio. You have to be careful with the positive reviews these days as they can’t always be trusted sadly, well, this review is genuine. I’ve tested it on my new Steinburg UR 22C and it just works, very clear, very sensitive so you will need a quiet room to take advantage of it but the sound quality is excellent, not too much treble or base to the sound, just clear mid tones and a little warm which is a good thing for most people. I’m using it with FL Studio for voice and some acoustic guitar and it’s perfect for what I need and great value to boot! Don’t hesitate, just order it.
I also have an AKG C214 and an AKG P170. The C214 might be a better fit for recording say, a guitar, but my voice just doesn’t sound as good on the C214, The P170 sounds OK on my voice, but its small diaphragm is much more prone to popping for voice recording.
I have this mic connected to a Focusrite 2i2 into Ableton live 10. The vocals are clear and easy to add effect too if desired highly recommend this mic
Consigliato.
I decided on this rather than a cheaper more basic model. Really happy with it. I use it via a powered audio interface. Perfect for broadcasting my radio show, and for recording vocals with Ableton Live.
Great quality microphone from a trusted brand. Solid feel & range of vocal patterns to choose from depending on your intended use.
I got this for home recordings .working very well with clear sounds for vocals
It was a great buy for me good quality from what I had previously so very happy
Gudd with upper end and also good with bass and mid but it have some noise which is little irritating when you start to post proc
ess your sound. i rarely use its pad or bass cut .
Good for vocals and guitar as written in description .really solid built .good for starters
It will be a good investment in ur budget home studio
At this price range it is tough to find something with a perfectly flat response without some coloring, but it’s really about finding the cheap mics with the right color (frequency response curves) that fit your application. In this case I’d say this is good for male singers with deeper voices, or acoustic instruments in the viola or cello range. I haven’t tried yet, but a medium-low brass might be complimented well here too.
Overall, it’s hefty, has the right voicing stage to be useful for vocal singing and voice-over, and fits a budget anyone can afford. For a project studio on a reasonable budget, I think you will be satisfied.
And i am not forcing you to buy this but i am very impressed by this mic.
Built Quality- 10/10
Audio Qulaity- 10/10
Now it’s on you to choose the best of your choice.
ice microphone and reasonably priced, comes with a good quality carry case and shock mount, instructions were none existent, but its not complicated.
The AKG Perception 120: AKG Perception P120 Professional Studio Microphone, Sliver
So, here are my pros and cons:
PROS:
– inexpensive
– simple settings
– versatile (vocals, guitar, etc.)
– rugged
CONS (possible opinions of others):
– too cheap
– too simple (not enough settings)
– not preferred taste of sound
– too heavy
Brilliant piece of kit. Really responsive, lovely clear sound. I use it for recording vocals in my room at home and it’s perfect. Really happy with the quality
Bottom line, this mike produces a wonderful ‘clear’ sound. If your using it in a live environment, you need to have a sound man that knows what he’s doing. But the mike itself is great, especially for the price. I couldn’t afford the one’s for thousands of dollars. They might be better, but personally I can’t see how.
I am in the process of purchasing creative gear for YouTube and obviously music. I have a Scarlett 2i2 that I hook this baby up to and the quality I get is amazing! I’m definitely going to be using this for podcasting, acoustic music sessions, and YouTube reviews/cartoon dubs. I suggest this mic for the general consumer, if you’re just starting out and getting into recording gear or you just want a mic that’ll do an excellent job for you and last a few years I can confidently say this mic is the one for you.
I will update if I run into any problems with this mic. 6/25/16
Has been good for recording vocals and guitar. Would recommend this mic for a budget home recording.
I bought it brand new and came in its own little box but not just a carton box, its an actual case heavy duty!!! like a case you will purchase to protect this beauty. comes with a nice sipder shock mount… Does not come with cables. and you need a Amp to power this thing up like a power supply thing for XLR MICS I RECOMMEND THIS ONE “Nady SMPS-1X 1-Channel 48V Phantom Power Supply” THIS IS WHAT I USE.
I have used it quite a few times and the accuracy of the sound is impressive.
Can produce a great sound in different acoustic environments, from small chambers to large hall, from good quality acoustics to not so well sounding rooms. Being a professional level microphone one should first learn a bit how to use certain types of microphones and acoustics, but even for a beginner it will prove very useful because it is a very forgiving tool that performs great even in less ideal settings (although one can notice a slight difference)
Amazing build and amazing performance for its level.
I play in a Deep Purple Tribute band so quality and volume of sound are paramount. I selected the Cardioid pattern and placed the Perception over the middle of the kit bringing it in from the front, slightly biased over the two floor toms. Pick up was superb and it gave detailed sounds of the toms and cymbals which were very clear. I haven’t tried the other settings yet as the Cardioid was so good. Tried bringing it in from the back of the kit slighty to the right of my head at the maximum height of the microphone stand. This also gave excellent results. This set up will only ever be used for live work for me, but I’m sure this would be an excellent choice in the studio as well. This microphone is very sensitive so be careful when its overhead. If you mutter under your breath, or grunt when your playing every one will hear you!!
The instruction booklet that is supplied is easy to follow and does not blow you away with “technojargon”. Only problem I found was the counter weight on your mike stand needs to very substantial due to the weight of the Microphone. I had problems with the stand tipping forward. However this is no fault of the Microphone and I solved the problem by gaffa taping the stand to the stage floor. What would us drummers do without Gaffa tape?
Very happy with AKG Perception 420, and when funds are better I will buy another and use two overheads. Excellent product and excellent service via amazon.
