3 cables…USB 3.0, HDMI y Display Port
Gorgeous OLED with disappointme
Its beautiful display with too many issues, shouldn’t be sold to the public, as the monitor is not ready yet, Asus hasn’t finished the job. I have to send it back after one week of use, the panel develop horizontal lines a cross is visible on grey background, also HDR is washed out. After upgrading to V033, andcouldn’t wake up the monitor after restarting, I have to switch the monitor off and turn it back on manually, on V033 HDR was even worse (the colours were extremely washed out in HDR).What is the point of having HDR and not using it? I had no choice but to roll back to the previous my original V028 firmware. Most people are complaining about it, costing too much money with too many issues. I have no chance to play one game. It is a shame that Asus cannot still resolve the issue. Will definitely wait for the next release, I hope to be better with improvement. Come on Asus please fix this with an update or the next monitor version. Thanks to Amazon for all help, and amazing customer service.
Great OLED, ok HDR, a tad overpriced
Was the best OLED on the market at the time of purchase that was 42″ (I would have loved a 38″ OLED monitor, but they are not a thing.)
HDR is ok, but tend to run for productivity, gaming and video consumption so switching between HRD and SDR is a pain, that said SDR with SRGB is great and since I use in a low light room, it also has exceptional brightness and little to no reflections.
I do have most screen protections active, and do a pixel refresh when asked, and again before turning off (yes it does an auto pixel clean if you leave it in standby.)
No screen burn use for daily production (writing, and coding) and refresh on average 2-3 times a day) I do tend to use dark mode on most apps, but certainly not all.
all in all, pretty happy so far.
Great value for money
Monitor is great but need to keep distanceu as is a bit big.
If I had a choice of seeing it LG c2 42″ Oled before probably is better choice.
ice monitor shame about the documentatio
The most infuriating thing about this monitor is the poor documentation on how to set up the functions for a non experienced person.
1) If you want Armoury Crate to see you have a Aura Sync monitor you must plug in the USB cables
2) There is software updates and apps that this monitor can use, but if you want it you have to go to the monitors web page and use the support menu to find it.
3) The monitor behind the screen menu can be a bit fiddly to find and use at first, but what the lack of documentation tells you is how to get to use some of the greyed out options. It is a case of you turn on this, something else gets turned off, but how are you to know that for first time use?
4) there are still things I’ve not figured out yet, like the menu says I’m in Racing Mode, the App tells me there are more modes and how to adjust them, but nothing to say how to swap between those modes.
There is the usual 24 window delay for Asus email support, which I used to find out how to get Armoury Crate to know I had a new monitor installed. It was as professional as you would expect, but totally unable to deal with the problem I had and referred me to a how to install Armoury Crate again. This boiler plate check list replies is also typical of some agents these days, what happened to reading the users email and realise the user says AC was working so why wasn’t it seeing the monitor. Oh have you plugged in the USB so the PC can see it?
It is a shame I have to moan here about it, but by not moaning here Asus might never get the memo to update the documentation to help consumers get the most out of the functions they purchased.
Other than that I can state this new generation of 1440p monitors is far superior in colour quality to my older 2018 BenQ 1440p monitor and even older 2010 1080p HannsG. So the only fault the hardware I can find is like the other two LED monitors I’ve owned, they still insist on putting the cables sockets in a such a way to make it that you have to have the whole monitor face down so you can insert the cables. I’m always afraid of the monitor slipping and crashing to the floor as I tilt it over.
So buy the 329, your not wasting your money on an inferior product. But like I’ve written, you’ll have to figure out how to make some things work by yourself
It’s good
Got this monitor a month ago and it is very nice. Had no problems with it.
Amazing colours and definitio
i upgraded to this from a PG348Q.
Really blown away by my new monitor, the colours are so vivid and the image so crisp.
still learning how to make use of all the features etc but so far am very happy.
its really really huge and quite heavy, so make sure you have the necessary deskspace for it and have room enough to move your mouse / keyboard and sit back so its not too overwhelming up close.
Also make sure you got a decent enough GPU to make the most of it too when gaming.
Great monito
Perfect size, 165hz is all you need and unless you have the best pc there is 1440p is also all you need. Looks great for movies and games and HDR is nothing incredible but it definitely adds to HDR content more than it takes away. 10/10 monitor would buy agai
The 42 Inch size is just right, I’m just over 2ft away from the screen and I’ve been using this for over a month now.
I use this for gaming and work/productivity – so using 8+ hours a day
– Display Port to a CalDigit TS4
– HDMI 2.1 to main desktop running 3090
– No issues with burn in so far, still early days.
– General day to day emails/web/admin
– Gaming (Overwatch/Call of Duty/ etc)
– Light photo editing
I have this attached to an Ergotron HX with the HD Head a little still to move around because of the size and weight but stays in place but still gives me the flexibility to move it around.
Did have to get a 100×100 to 300/400 adapter to get this attached but solid otherwise.
Pros
– 4K 138, Feels like my old 240hz 1440p LCD in regard to responsiveness
– Adaptive Sync – Gsync Compatible (Seems to be working, not totally sure but feels like it’s not as good as a Gsync module but that might just be me)
– 42 Inch size is just about right size for work and also gaming
– Uniform brightness works great – rarely notice brightness dips when extending a full white window
– Connectivity options, DisplayPort, 2 HDMI 2.1 and 2 2.0 Ports – can connect loads to this thing.
– Inclusion of a USB Hub
– OSD is really easy to navigate
– OLED protection features are not noticeable from my point of view (assuming it does the job to protect the panel)
– Speakers are good for general day to day/Teams/Zoom Calls, I’d go elsewhere for music and gaming 🙂
Cons
– Included Stand, didn’t even bother installing it as it would have been a problem for the depth of my desk.
– Firmware releases from Asus could be better tested, maybe wait a little before jumping on it right away
– The tripod mount at the top of the screen is pointless – it would be nice if they included an attachment but it’s too high for a webcam from my point of view.
– The included cables are little on the short side, would be nice if they included another meter for cleaner runs.
– UK Power Cable provided is not a left/right angle out, so it kind of sticks out the side of the screen
– The cable cover where the inputs are, a little tight, as this is magnetic doesn’t really close properly if you put to many cables in there.
There were some issues with the firmware that were pushed out by Asus that had some issues such as
– Bricking on v32 – this was removed (took them a little time to do this)
– V31 had sleep issues if you were running the display in OC 138hz mode, though I did see someone complaining about this and they were button mashing the remote. (Press it once, wait a sec for it to turn off and then press it again and it would come back to life)
– v34 is out and seems the most stable, I did have a sleep issue still, but I think this was my TS4 dock as since updating the firmware here it’s been good for the last day
Generally speaking, this is a good quality monitor the price is a high ask but if you can why not.
Performance is good and colours pop and are accurate.
The biggest points here are OLED / Blacks are Black, and the near instant responsiveness puts it on par with a 240hz monitor (Respectively a Dell AW2721D which I was using previously as the main monitor)
Firmware issues are behind them now from what I can tell for the most part.
I’m using this as my main monitor for a Mac Studio. Used to use a 2017 imac 5K
The OLED colours and HDR do look amazing on this screen.
Got it connected via DisplayPort
Did have some Mac-related issues, volume control and brightness didn’t work, I had to install a 3rd party app to adjust volume and brightness (Monitor Control)
Mainly use it for Video editing in Davinci Resolve and creating websites in Elementor
plus screen recording tutorials.
If your workflow is text intensive you should probably look at a different monitor as the PPI is low compared to a 5k Mac screen. Screen recordings look softer too.
Video editing and gaming its fantastic, the DCI P3 color gamut is great. Comes with a calibration certificate
Updating the monitor firmware is very straightforward, you need a PC to do it, no update software for Mac which is super annoying, had to borrow a windows laptop to update the firmware. Data cable is included in the box. Download a bin file, upload it to the monitor. I’m running version V032.
The screen can be very slow to wake up when connected to mac
Text is not very sharp even in 4K
It usually asks me twice a day to do pixel cleaning which takes around 6 minutes per clean. I have the safety features enabled to prevent OLED burn-in
Photoshop and Lightroom
Images do look amazing on 42″ and the colors totally pop
I really hope in the next version of this screen they can increase the PPI for desktop use
Ive been getting eye strain and headaches since swapping monitors and that’s only when working with text and emails
Video Editing, Photo editing and gaming is fine.
Will probably wall mount it and use it as a second monitor, get another 5k Mac Studio Display just for text and screen recording
If your gonna be gaming or video editing then its fantastic for tha
