At work, I had Roland MA-8’s that I really liked. When I went to purchase them for myself, I found that they’re not only older than me, but that you can’t buy them new anymore. My coworker had these, so I went ahead and gave them a shot. They’re almost identical in terms of features and how they look – really the biggest difference is the branding. I personally like the different controls on them for different things. I don’t use them a whole lot, but I do find that sometimes I need to adjust the bass/treble based on what I’m doing and it’s handy to just reach over and do it. Mine do have a very slight buzz, but I hardly notice it let alone am bothered by it; you have to get right up next to it to hear it.
I will say that something in me thinks that the Roland’s were just a little bit better in sound quality than these, but these were for sure a huge upgrade compared to the speakers I had before. I have a nice stereo system hooked up to my PC if I really want sound quality, but for general purposes these work really well. A subwoofer would be a really nice addition though. At this price point, don’t expect miracles, but I’m pretty happy with them.
If you’re a retro gamer & you need to grab a good set of speakers but also not having or wanting to deal with the built in mono speakers inside your Sony PVM, BVM (or whatever professional RGB CRT you have) get them! And yes, they’re magnetically shielded (at least mine were).
6 and a half years the cord that came with it that’s hooks the two together eventually broke and it’s as the edge of popping with crackle if you over load it but for $90 when I got these are awesome little speakers
they’re a loud and also pack good basecome with a 3mm phone jack aux cord
Bought fot the wife, she uses them to edit music. Not to large to sit on desk with PC.
Was sceptical with such a low price, and they kinda feel a bit cheap out of the box, but they do the job great! Ive been mixing single-mic drum recordings (so pretty low quality) with drumless multiracks to record covers and it was such a chore on my old speakers – spending days tweaking, exporting, transferring, and listening on different devices. One afternoon with these and I got the mix and master sounding great across multiple outputs – speakers, phone, t.v., car stereo.
Advice – the speakers come with bass and treble volume knobs. It seems as if the default position should be with them in the middle pointing up, not bottom left. There is a “click” in the middle and they just sound perfect. I had them all the way down at first and was v disappointed.
I bought the speakers to provide a better sound from my desk top computer. People who set down to use my desktop are always amazed at the sound, especially when they play a video or music. I have had the several years and am extremely happy with the quality of their sound and their performance. I have recommended them to other people who have also been satisfied and decided to add this review because I’ve owned them for several years and thought people should know about a good product. I have had some other Behringer products and bought these because of my experience with the other products.
I’ve had these for many years now and they still work great.
Excellent for making electronic music AS A NON PROFESSIONAL in a small apartment in Japan. I need not say more.
Excellent speakers. Connected to my Nitro electric drum set and the sound is great. Strong Base and mid ranges. Wall mounts are included and very easy to use. Can connect headphones to them also. When not in use there is little feedback so i power them off when not in use
This product could of received 5-stars except that it came with one cable and the volume could be slightly louder. Other than that this is an excellent product.
Good quality for the price excellent computer speakers nice lows and highs
Great sound from these speakers… Had to temporarily set them up to test them before placing them elsewhere… Nice bass, with Mic input, also a bonus…
Bass is not up
To our expectation.but it isbest home studio monitorat this price fange
I use a lot of this model speaker in small TV Studio Installations in my Low Voltage Business.
Hooked the speakers up to an old karaoke mic, and placed the mic outside by the birdfeeder to listen to the birds in winter. Works flawlessly. Good quality for the price. It’s been working for years.
These speakers were an incredible find! Really great quality and have had them for over 3 years now. If needed them again would buy these again for sure! Hooked them up to use on CPU that also has a bass speaker. Has excellent sound quality.
I’ve had a pair of Behringer MS16 speakers connected to a Joggler running Squeezeplay OS in the kitchen for the last 2 years and they have performed well. Best sound for my particular location was with a touch down on the bass control, a touch up on the treble. Good punchy speakers with way too much volume if we wanted it.
However, about a month ago the sound started deteriorating with a decrease in volume and an increase in hum and distortion on both channels. So, I opened up the main speaker (5 screws) and first surprise was that the power switch is on the secondary of the transformer, so the transformer is always energised. Not a real problem but it does mean that the speakers are always drawing power, even when ‘off’. We have always switched these off at the mains so no issue, but if left on it would be running up the ‘leccy bill by a small amount.
Second surprise was the main amplifier board was connected to the auxilliary board containing the volume and filter controls by a multi-way cable which was unscreened – An obvious entry point for hum. Moving the cable changed the amount of pickup so this could be what some users are experiencing, depending on their particular build. The cable is soldered at one end and plugged at the other, and I found that moving the cable restored proper operation of my speakers so think that the connection here was at fault. It proved impossible to remove the amplifier board to solder the connections as this was mounted rock-solid to the back of the case so I slightly bent the exposed pins and re-plugged to provide a firmer connection, reassembled the unit and all is back to normal.
All in all, I’m very pleased with the Behringers but think the design could be improved by fitting a ‘proper’ on-off switch, screening the signal cables and using a more secure connector to the control panel. There again, refinement costs money.
All I can say is wow. Let me give you my impression from beginning to end. When I received the package, I thought it was rather small. I thought, “How in the world will these benefit me?” I started to return them immediately but thought I’d try them out so that when I send them back, I can give an explanation why I was sending them back. I have to connect another piece so that I could plug it into my keyboard. As soon as I heard the way they sounded, I was instantly amazed. They were perfect for what I wanted to do. The size was an added bonus being small yet packing a wonderful sound. I was unbelievably impressed. This was just what I needed.
Great quality!
I can only thing of Pro’s to this as it is clearly a great price and amazing speakers. The only con i could possibly think of is that they are slightly bulky, however I personally love the look as fits in with my set up!
I read reviews that said they did not have much volume, if you use the 1/8th” jack or the rca jacks on the back, that may be true HOWEVER, if you use the1/4″ mic input on the FRONT, THEY SCREAM, and the bass, treble & volume controls have NO effect. The mic volume level DOES, as well as the controls on what ever you are running it through DO. I am using a Behringer Xenyx 1002FX mini mixer. I use the channel control.
Good quality sound.Useful for small home recording studio. However it is not alone recording studio monitor.I purchased it for use with Scarlett interface but it is not suitable for that being different inbuilt circuit.
They just arrived. I pulled them out of the box and connected them to my Crosley Solo with the supplied patch cord, and they sound excellent (bearing in mind the inherent limitations of speakers this size). The sound is very clear with good bass response–I think good treble is a given here. I’m listening to NPR right now, I’ll crank ’em up with some rock ‘n roll later on. Happy listening.
