These are good speakers, as I hoped they would be. Sound good, can go loud, and easy to use. If you are going for entry level monitor speakers these are worth your consideration.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersDespite being called a ‘Monitor System’ and being labelled as ‘Monitor Speakers’, these are *not* studio monitor-grade speakers. However, if you are not using them for music production, what they are is actually a really good pair of computer speakers for not a lot of cash.

Paired with a decent discrete sound card, or even an on-board sound card on a higher-end motherboard, these speakers will beat most offerings from your traditional companies (Logitech, Creative, etc.).

The construction is plastic and, while some people may prefer wooden cabinets, this does not detract from these speakers in the slightest. The bass port is on the front of these speakers, meaning you can have them closer to the wall if you use them on a desk or on wall mounts. Many 3-4″ speakers have rear bass ports, which can cause a ‘boomy’ effect when placed closed to the wall.

If you’re using these for a computer for listening to music or watching movies, then you’ll want to dial in the bass and treble dials (I set mine to just under 3 o’clock treble, and just under 2 o’clock bass) and then download a computer program called Equalizer APO and another called PEACE. This will allow you to adjust the balance between the frequency bands.

I find the bass on these a little muddy, but the rest of the spectrum is fairly decent for the price. I find them to be, again for the price paid, very clear and leagues ahead of any traditional PC speaker I have used when it comes to listening to music.

I got these for an excellent price on Amazon, and I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersCerco di offrire una recensione indicativa per l esperienza audio che ho,come premessa do 4 stelle per il motivo che l amplificatore di queste casse spinge probabilmente troppo oltre il giusto per la loro dimensione e se non si abbassano nettamente bassi e treble oltre i 3/4 di volume avrete distorsioni e fruscio dovuto al risucchio dei bassi, con un impostazione ottimale in base al tipo di musica che si ascolta si hanno dei buoni risultati(piccole ma casino ne fanno) e devo dire che per i watt RMS dichiarati e il prezzo in termine di qualit prezzo sono eccellenti, peccato solo che essendo in ABS non troppo spesso e di qualit non hanno un grande assorbimento del suono come casse attive di dimensioni superiori,in fine posso dire che sono arrivate in ottime condizioni e prima del previsto e come casse monitor da casa sono anche troppo,le raccomando a chi non pretende esuberi in termini di bassi ma nella qualit medio alta superano gi parecchie casse di fascia bassa, avrebbero dovuto mettere semplicemente dei coni pi rigidi e con un impedenza leggermente pi alta per ridurre i bassi e aumentare ancora la qualit piuttosto

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSound great! Look, you are not going to get perfect sound for $80 but these are dynamite little speakers for the money. I used them on my computer system to listen to music and play games. They are perfect size, have all the outputs and controls right in front (volume, treble, bass) and they sound great! No complaints.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThese are the real monitor speaker. They give crystal clear sound with bass and treble adjustments. They are good for mid to high frequency range. They reveal every part in this frequency range. But the problem is they do not sound full due very much lack in low end frequency. There is need of woofer.

But for this price there is no other alternative. So for beginners in music mixing or instrument players with very tight budget these are very good. Also they have mic input for singing or presentations. Also headphones jack is present which can drive all high end headphones also.

But for multimedia purpose this are not good because this are too much revealing and bright sounding which may cause ear fatigue. Also bass is really lacking. For all round purpose I think best choice may be ms40.

Klang: Saubere, natrliche Wiedergabe. Gut ausbalancierter Klang, Hhen / Tiefen seperat einstellbar.

Verarbeitung: Ordentliche Verarbeitung, Drehknpfe sowie Audio Ein- und Ausgnge sind jetzt nicht High-End aber durchaus gebrauchbar. Gehuse aus Plastik.

Fazit: Frs kleine Geld bekommt man hier ordentliche Monitorlautsprecher.

I absolutely love these speakers, and use them for playing music most days.
IMPORTANT, to get anything like decent sound quality they do need to be paired up with a suitable bass module (subwoofer) to fill in that low end. The difference is like night and day. I use a Hyundai Multicav (8″) powered subwoofer because it has an adjustable crossover frequency.
Like I say, I was after filling out the bottom end, not trying to sound like Halfords’ car park at 11pm, and this requires a bit of attention with adjusting the levels. Then of course, overall volume control needs to be controlled from the volume control on the primary device, (laptop, etc).

These things are incredible. For a very long time ive used over ear headphones, these things fill a bedroom with sound so easily and considering the price, the sound is out of this world. The base is just right and the mids are rich. there are instances where i find that the connection signal is slow and I can hear a slight scratching but very rarely and only on high to maximum volume

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI can’t claim to be an audiophile and my ears are getting on in years, as is the rest of me, but I have been extremely pleased with these powered speakers.
I needed some speakers for my computer and spend hours researching reviews of ‘computer speakers’. Most of them seemed to be adequate but a bit disappointing unless you spent a small fortune. Eventually I discoved these Behringer MS16 powered monitor speakers and the reviews were extremely favourable so I ordered them, whilst still wondering if they would be good enough.
When they arrived I was delighted. They give excellent sound when playing music. or games, and have virtually zero hum when no sound or music is being pushed through them.
Connecting is simple enough. There is one cable with a mini plug, to plug into your computer/phone/TV headphone socket, at one end and the other end is two phone plugs which connect into the back of the main speaker. Another wire plugs into the back of the main speaker and also into the second speaker to connect the two speakers. This lead is about 2 metres long. Finally plug in the UK plug and you are done.
Overall I would throughly reccommend them to anyone who would like to like to have powered speakers for their TV, phone or computer. I am very pleased with my purchase and will probably buy a second set for my TV rather than buying a TV soundbar which I suspect would cost a lot more than these but not be anything like as good as these are for providing clear voices, rumbly basses and an excellent stereo effect.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis pair of computer speakers was exactly what I was looking for. They are not too large and put out amazing sound for the size. I originally bought a set of Cyber Acoustics with sub for about $40. They had really good reviews, but I ended up sending them back as the satellites speakers sounded tinny and flat. The sound was simply just mediocre, at best. I live in an apartment complex and as soon as the Behringer speakers came, I tested them by turning the volume up to half at one point. I didn’t turn it up any louder as I did not want to disturb my neighbors, but the volume will definitely be more than enough for virtually everyone unless you want to use them for a party – then you would want to add a sub-woofer – and they would be fine for that, too. I love the fact that they have volume, bass and treble controls right in front – makes it very easy to adjust quickly. The controls work just as well for any set of headphones you plug into the front of the speaker. If you want quality sound at an affordable price, I would say you would not be disappointed with these. I am glad I took a chance and bought them.
Also, the picture with the speakers are inaccurate in one, small way. The picture for the speakers show an orange triangle on the front of the speaker grill. The speakers I received had a black triangle on each speaker grill. Everything else is exactly as shown in the photo.

So, have a 20year old pair of Roland MA-8s. I love them! but… after years of abuse, the non powered monitor popped. replaced it with an extra MS-30 monitor I had. These have gotten me to this point. then the Amp in the powered MA-8 started to go bad. Was sad to find out, the ROLAND discontinued the MA-8s. Discovered the Behringer MS16s, which are CLEARLY clones of the MA-8s! Been VERY happy with them. they sound pretty much the same as the ROLANDs and look nearly identical! We will see if they last as long as the ROLANDs did!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersArrived in a box that had a big dent in the bottom, I took the speakers out and the right one has something rattling in it which worries me but when I had everything set up there didn’t seem to be any issues.

The controls on the speaker are actually on the right and not the left which is a major relief for me because my rig pretty much makes it impossible for me to reach the left one without moving monitors and mics everywhere.

Soundwise everything sound decent enough for the price, these things are really loud. I have them hooked up through my active subwoofer which has it’s own volume control thing for me to put on my desk and with the speakers set to a quarter they are louder than my old pc speakers turned all the way up.

Wires it came with are long enough to let me have them about 4 feet apart from each other without an issue. The power plug is built in but not very long so you may have to use an extension cord if you don’t have a socket or hub nearby

Controls let me tweak the audio to how I like with minimal effort which is always nice.

Pretty happy with them overall for the price but that rattling has me very paranoid

Not a bad pair of powered speakers. The sound reproduction is decent but I wouldn’t use them for any serious recording. We use them for personal monitors at the piano and organ in our church. They are loud enough for the musicians to follow the music director.

Awesome powered speakers at a very manageable price. Blows away all the “iPhone” (or Android) speakers etc. at this price point and well above.

But no, it doesn’t look like your iPhone (or Android).

If you want it to be wireless/remote, add an AppleTV for seventy bucks or a third-party wifi streamer for a lot less or an old Airport Express for free.

Even adding the cost of the wifi streaming box, these speakers are still better than comparably-priced bluetooth speakers. And wifi streaming has better sound quality than Bluetooth.

There may be other good powered compact monitor speakers out there, but for the price you really can’t go wrong with these…

But I purchased these knowing that they were going to be used as computer speakers, which is a big step up from the normal sound system with computers, they do a very good job, plenty of volume and controls to make them sound as you want them.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFor my laptop, I set out investigating a set of speakers with controls on the front for ease of access, and with a built in amp. The idea was to avoid using PC speakers because even the expensive ones are generally crap. In recent times I am also shunning 2.1 and 5.1 style systems because in the same guise I tend to feel these are widely and exceptionally substandard offerings generally too.

Glad I did so, for the price these are a thousand fold better than any PC speakers I have ever used. I ummed, I aahed. I finally bit the bullet and now I’m very pleased. They sound just great.

If you want genuinely high quality Hi Fi speakers, then your looking at least 200 outside the relevant price bracket. I wanted cheap, but decent. These are exactly that, cheap but thoroughly decent.

Simple utilitarian design. These are basically sturdy plastic boxes with moderately good drivers in them. You get a good stereo image out of the tweeters, not so sure about the midrange or bass. It’s there I guess.

They fit the ‘PC aesthetic’ and work fine for streaming music, tv, etc. They have a completely useless microphone input that would allow these to function like a karaoke system, but why? The gain is massive to allow it to be used with any crap quality microphone. Of course it sounds like garbage.

The tone controls are genuinely useful for taking the harshness off, say, wind noise on a youtube video shot outdoors. Maybe they even sound musical I don’t know. All the controls feel sturdy and have chunky plastic grips.

I wouldn’t use these for creating music, gotta get something better.

It’s a good sturdy product but when I got them they cost 40% less than 85 at date of review. Not even sure if I can call these value for money now.

We’ve had ours for three years and no problems, so there’s that I guess.

I got these speakers for my father-in-law’s home office, since he listens to music all day on some junk little computer speakers. I booted them up to test them out before putting them in his office and I was quite surprised! Instruments and vocals sound so crisp and clear. The volume can go very loud and there is no distortion. As I listen to a bunch of types of music I am beginning to think these sound better the louder they go. I am hearing fingers sliding on guitar strings and little things in the music I’ve never heard before. I am super impressed for the price of these speakers!

I was un-impressed with the “subwoofers” and think they should just call them normal mid range speakers. Maybe the break in period will help them a little, but I doubt it will change my mind. This is the only reason I am giving them 4 stars. I have a little TDK A33 portable system and the bass sounds almost as good on low and mid level volumes. Once you go louder these speakers absolutely destroy any of those portable speakers I tried out when I was searching for that type of set up. That is just regarding bass. At every level the mids and treble are incredible.

For the price range I think these are an incredible deal! If you love music and want a bargain on speakers that sound like you are almost at the studio then pick these up. If you want heavier bass from electronic, rap, or other genres then you may want to look for a 2.1 system.

When looking through reviews of the more technical products such as monitors, its hard to form an accurate critique of these monitors because every customer will be using these in different situations with a different backlog of experience etc. For use in a home studio, these monitors are perfect. Obviously they would not be suitable for any venue larger than a converted dining room, as they do start to become a little shaky with extreme volumes. The bass is of good quality with this product however at higher volumes it can start to become unstable. Saying this though, the volumes mentioned are at the extreme end of the spectrum and are not touched when used in a home or smaller location. I find the microphone input is a brilliant addition as it allows me to attach recording equipment or musical instruments with no fuss. In conclusion, a very good product for the money.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThese are great for the money! If you have a high quality audio file you can really hear every detail. Vocals come through really clear and each instrument sounds like it has its own channel instead of muddling the sound trying to smash too much in at once. Obviously these speakers are not meant to blow you away, at about 16 watts, but they do kick hard enough to fill up a small apartment. The bass is not “beats” quality, but that’s not a big deal with most of the melodic music i listen to. Also, there was a bit of feedback when you plug directly into a phone for music streaming. I’m guessing this is what everyone was saying in the other reviews, but if its at a party, you can hardly tell its there. Love Behringer and their products!

I have bought Behringer products before and have yet to be disappointed. I bought these strictly as my PC monitor speakers and they sound great for most of what I want just out of my computer. I had an extra powered subwoofer and found I didn’t bother hooking it up as these have a good clean bass response on their own. I don’t push them very hard as I loop back through my mixer board and amps for more serious levels.

  51. Anonymous says:

I use these to amp up my rock music for a fitness class I teach, and these do the job in a roomy studio just fine. The lead between speakers is about 3metres long allowing for good separation of speakers, and the bass and treble can go up pretty high before they start to distort (of course they do distort eventually, but then pretty much every speaker I’ve ever seen does). The speakers themselves don’t seem to have much juice on their own, but turn the volume up on your input device and you can get a really decent volume out of these.
Took a chance on this product as Behringer were recommended to me and I knew nothing about them. Only had them about a month, but so far no problems, and very happy with this product.

Mini monitors I use with my Mac Air. Clear kids-highs, but don’t go thinking you’re going to get much in the way of lows from these. That said, for close work, they work perfectly.

A couple of dings….first, they aren’t well sealed. Air escapes out of the microphone plug (huh?), which shows there’s not a lot of insulation in them. They’re also relatively easy to distort.

They have their limits. If your needs are moderate, these are good computer speakers, especially for the price. If you’re looking for speakers that have a little more “heft” in the low end, there won’t work.

I had a pair of MS20’s and I put a hole in one with a drill by accident. I like the MS16’s because they have a mesh to protect the speaker itself from idiots like me. Anyway, because I was only using the MS20’s for home use with my computer or TV- not in a real ‘studio’ setting – i did not notice a huge difference in quality of sound and though they aren’t quite as loud as the MS20 model they so get loud enough for a party. I also appreciate that there are both 1/4, 1/8 stereo and RCA inputs… I have had a=my macbook, the TV and a microkorg all running into the MS16 at the same time. That extra 1/4 input is useful to plug + play your drum machine, samplers, synths – I dunno how guitars or vocals would sound but I’m sure that’s also a possibility – if you just wanna play in your bedroom. With (almost) all the Behringer products I have purchased the MS16’s have turned out to be another great deal for a reasonable price.

Golden Review Award: 71 From Our UsersI’ve been producing music both at home and in professional studios for many years and can honestly say these speakers work surprisingly well in the small home studio environment. OK, so I have a pair of serious JBL monitors too, but for everyday work on Cubase and even for rough mixing on my PowerBook or PC, they do a very creditable job.

The clarity and stereo reproduction is excellent, they’re pretty loud and produce very crisp sounds. The tone controls aren’t the most dynamic and yes, as most other reviewers mention, the bass doesn’t boom, but once again, they’re perfectly good enough for most home studio needs. And the truth is that when it comes to final mixing, I don’t even use the JBLs but always reach for my Sennheiser headphones instead. Or go and reproduce the whole thing in a pro studio. So it’s horses for courses.

In my view, the Behringer MS16s are your best option unless you can afford to spend 300++ and go for some professional studio monitors. But do you really need them for home use, or is it just vanity like having a never-gigged Marshall stack in your bedroom? I’ll share a salutary lesson I was given some years ago. I proudly took my latest CD into a record producer’s studio which was filled with enough equipment to raise the Titanic with monitors the size of monoliths. But the producer took me out to his car where he played my CD through his stereo so he could hear it in the same way as others would. That’s why you’ll also find the best studios have a standard radio sitting somewhere on their desk so they can play the final mix through it – and you’ll be surprised how many times a mix gets changed because things have been overproduced and over-EQ’d to the point of getting lost when it comes to playback ‘back in the real world’!

Remember, a great song will always stand out. And these speakers will certainly not stand in the way of you producing great sounding music and excellent demos. So yes, I would recommend them for desktop home studios.

These are good for me because I hate subwoofers, however, sometimes the playback can be misleading; as in you can’t sometimes hear the tiny nuances in the audio clips. It’s fine for people who aren’t musicians or voiceovers.

i lived in a shared house for 2 years and these were the go-to around-the-house speakers that my friend always used. when i moved out i had to buy myself a pair. a lot cheaper than i thought they would be, the purchase was kind of a no-brainer.

Okay speakers for the job, sound is a little flat but works for simple playback. Wiring issue with one speaker where connection is loose in the rear. Could be better quality.

Cannot fault this product. The volume is of a reasonable quality and is plenty loud enough for our needs. I suspect though if you are of a younger age these speakers are somewhat poor for very loud music. We are of an age of 5o+ and give us a perfectly clear sound to enhance our TV sound.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThese aren’t really studio monitors, but are great for other purposes. The overall sound is surprisingly good and fairly balanced for what they are, and they do get adequately loud for “monitoring” yourself. The input options are great. I have electronic drums (stereo) plus keyboard (stereo) and ipad guitar amp-sim output (mono, mic input) all mixing in quite well. Had this hooked up to iPod over the Christmas holidays and when replaced with a Teac 2.1 system from a friend I really noticed the change in sound (for the worse). Other less critical listeners in the household also commented how much better the Behringers were.
Great value for giving decent amplification and flexible inputs with a relatively balanced and loud output.

Good “monitors” for the price. Clear sound although not strictly monitors, also the lows are poor. I connected them to a sub to rectify this but it creates a loud humming noise. Overall though, they a great quality for just 50.

I picked these speakers up to use with the Alesis DM Lite Kit 5-Piece Electronic Drum Set as also sold through Amazon. When I first unboxed, I wasn’t all that certain they would do the job, but they have proven very much adequate for their intended use with this entry level/practice drum set and other practice play along audio played through the drum set’s module.

I dinged my rating one star for lack of a left/right volume control. Even cheap desktop speakers tend to have that, so was not expecting and I should have possibly researched a little closer, though it has not proven a problem.

And while intended as room practice speakers, you can pretty much hear throughout the house all the same. So overall am happy with this choice.

I am using these as speakers for an older Vizio TV. They sound great and provide loud clear accurate sound with excellent bass. A great bang for the buck compared to a receiver and speakers.
Before connected these to the TV I had them hooked up to a computer. They rocked!! Great bass. I just can’t justified spending $80 for computer speakers though.

For the price these are pretty nice Monitors but the only thing that’s missing is the bass. If your looking for something to bump these will disappoint you.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersYou can spend a lot more and get very little for it. I have done pro recording and sound design for several years and wanted to start up a little hobby set up during my retirement to use for local kids and schools. I was very surprised at the sound reproduction from these inexpensive reference monitors. I use 2 pair, which is not necessary but it is fun, (That’s what retirement is for) You can go through all the specs you want, bottom line is they’re transparent. Great buy for monitors or book shelf speakers. Heck, they’re cheap enough, use them for everyday computer speakers…..You’re worth it!

I bought two sets of these. They’re flat, even, and robust. I paired them with a powered subwoofer I had, turned down the bass on these, and I can bring them about half volume together before they just get too loud to use.

The pictures make them look a little bigger than they are, but they’re pretty great overall. You could do worse.

I had MS16 for over a month now and I like them. I wanted power monitors, so that I could plug in my electric guitar. That works very well. There is a separate volume control so I can play along computer music. Sound quality is very good for speakers that small. I bought MS16 after I returned M-Audio AV30 speakers, which were overheating.
The only reason I did not give 5 stars to Behringers is that M-Audio speakers looked better.

I have other Behringer products that are fine. These speakers continuously pop, hiss, buzz, and crackle. I’ve used them with three different computers in two different locations, isolated from any other electronic source. I’ve done research and made sure lines were grounded and ran them from an isolated power source, by the computers and away from the computers. This particular pair are no good. I’ve ordered a replacement set and will update as soon as I plug them in.

UPDATE: I received replacement speakers from Amazon before I even shipped the others out. They are great speakers. Crisp, clear and void of any crackling, buzzing sound. When they’re on, but nothing is playing, I don’t hear static or anything and that is with my phone right next to them. I won’t give Behringer five stars just for the hassle I went through with these speakers (because of the way my desk is set up it’s not easy to install uninstall and install these speakers: a tip to Behringer – quality control), but Amazon gets five stars!

The MS16s showed up this morning. I unboxed them and immediately and plugged them in; my intended primary use is as computer speakers. I was immediately disappointed as I experienced distorted sound and the annoying hiss mentioned in other reviews. But before I boxed them up for return, I plugged them into my iPhone5 headphone port serving up Pandora. World of difference! Seems my initial experience was due to the s***ty DAC in my laptop, not the speakers themselves. Will now be keeping these. To be clear these are not legit studio monitors or true HiFi, but for $79 bucks, you can’t find a better price/performance ratio.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI needed a pair of medium-sized powered speakers that could monitor the output of a Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle Analogue-to-Digital Video and Audio interface in a video capture and conversion system. The usual PC speakers are no good for this job, but spending many hundreds of pounds on studio monitor speakers was neither totally necessary nor financially viable. We needed a modestly-priced pair of powered speakers that gave us a good representation of mixed audio and that’s what we were being offered. The Behringer MS16 had received good reviews on the professional audio websites and seemed a great alternative – and at the price offered, which included despatch costs, we were presented with an offer we couldn’t refuse.

The product arrived in very fast time (faster than the estimate given at the time of purchase) and were well packaged. Once installed, they were quickly put to work monitoring the sound balance coming from 20-year-old analogue videotapes via a Soundcraft mixer desk into an Apple Mac system. The speakers are actually larger than we expected them to me (no, we didn’t check the measurements in the product description!) butit doesn’t matter because they sit on the console very well and look as good as they sound. The quality is great for the price; top end is crisp, bottom is punchy and altogether they provide us with a faithful reproduction – especially when the level is wound up a bit!

The right speaker contains the controls and the main inputs (at the rear) which then feeds the left speaker acting as slave. We’d have liked XLR balanced inputs on the back but, of course, this facility comes with a greater price tag. On that basis the RCA Phono pair and also Stereo 3.5mm Mini-jack inputs are perfectly adequate. It should be noted that the two separate inputs can be mixed, together with the front-panel 1/4″ mic jack input (which we don’t really need actually).

All in all, a very good product at what was, for us, an exceptionally good delivery-inclusive price. Can’t complain at all – so we won’t!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFor what I was seeking I found that the speakers produced a good sound and were a vast improvement on that which I was previously using. The speakers are being used in conjunction with an at home Karaoke system that is driven through a basic amp and separate mixer. I am also outputting backing tracks from my laptop computer. As I live in a flat I am not seeking to blast the walls with sound but rather to achieve a degree of clarity with a volume sufficient to fill a room 3.5 m`s square which in my opinion these speakers deliver..

I read the other reviews both pro and con for these speakers. For my application, I use them on a Bose JS-10 guitar module and the sound is perfect. I get the right amount of bass and treble for my small practice space. So, depending on your application, I believe these speakers are quite a value. They are amount $20.00 dollars cheaper than the standard, low end active monitors.
I know they look old school but I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the tone and cabinet quality.

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersI ordered these for delivery to Finland, they arrived quickly and well packaged.

Firstly if you are expecting Pro Studio Monitors for this price you will be setting yourself up for disappointment. These are not Pro Studio quality but also they are not Studio price and for the price you are paying i believe they justify a 5* rating.

Good points: The sound quality is good in general and they go very loud without much distortion. The build quality is solid (plastic) and they look professional. They have a mic input as well as audio inputs and equalizer.

Bad points: Bass Response is limited, the equalizer isn’t very fussy (hence why these are not ideal Studio Monitors)

Student on a budget? These are a good buy. Small home studio set up? Good buy. Speakers for your PC / DVD / Console? Good buy. Backup set of speakers for dragging around to friends, gigs etc. Good buy.

In fact if you compare these to similarly priced (and even much more expensive) amplified PC speakers, these really blow them out the water.

Basically for the price these are excellent, maybe Behringer shouldn’t have called them Monitors as this creates false expectations. However if you are in the market for amplified speakers and this is at the top end of your budget I don’t think you will find anything better even if you stretch it slightly.

I purchased these speakers to allow me to better hear my Boss EBand machine for guitar. At loud volumes, it will be a little off due to the size. However, I reduced the bass, increased the treble, set half volume, and used the volume from my machine. The results have been excellent. Really nice sound. I could not be happier for the cost. Highly recommend. Would buy again. I have owned a decent number of Behringer products and have never found anything but quality.

But not as clear as some studio monitors – BUT – I work in a noisy music center and am competing with music teaching rooms in a hallway where it can get seriously noisy. Also – I need monitors with grills over the cones to prevent damage like my old ones got at the music school. These are beefy loud – and can get a little boomy – and blur fidelity, I run the bass slightly under half and the treble about 2:00 o’clock on the dial and when I need top listening i go to my fancy headphones to discern more detail in the sound. But these are sufficient for my student recordings – (keyboards, guitar, bass et al)

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI wanted an amplified speaker system that I could hook up to the headphone jack of my itouch and MP3 player. My requirements were have the biggest amplified speaker in the smallest space possible made by a quality manufacturer. Behringer makes specialized equipment for musicians so I felt it was a good company although I never used any of their products. I am not a musician.

Well this system sounds fantastic. My opinion is that it sounds better than the Bose wave radio which sounds great too. The 16 watts is a conservative rating. The speakers are very loud. I also wanted separate bass and treble controls and the MS16 has it. There also is an adjustable microphone input so you can sing along to your favorite music like karaoke if that is your thing. In addition you can mix two other inputs through the 1/8 inch input jack and RCA jacks in the back and there is a headphone jack in the front.

I expect that these nice looking and sturdy amplified speakers will hold up in the long run and so far I am impressed.

Not bad for the price. As other reviews have mentioned the bass response isn’t that good and it muddies up the midrange. The tweeters are a bit tinny at times as wel, we find ourselves re-adjusting the bass and treble for each song at times. But overall I suspect that the other speakers in this price range will be about the same.
I may try a sub to see if it adds a little dimension to the sound, but we use these primarily for computer speakers, not doing professional mixing, gaming or Watching movies.
After the full size speakers and CD quality we grew up with, most everything seems a little flat by comparison in the age of MP3’s, and I suspect that its that way for a lot of audiofiles.
I am still kind of searching and had already put too many hours into finding a good, inexpensive pair of speakers to listen to music at the house, these are better than average so I guess they will do for now. 3 1/2 stars.

They sound terrific and are the perfect size for a smaller space. Placing them on a shelf allows for even better listening, and they’re adjustable so you can turn down the high end if necessary. I got these a few years ago for my dorm room, and now I use them more portably. If you are going to do this be GENTLE. The amplifier in the right speaker is only held in place by very small pieces of plastic which break quite easily. I had to gorilla glue my amp back in place.

Golden Review Award: 40 From Our UsersAfter hearing many studio monitors demoed at guitar center (when I worked there), I knew that someday I’d HAVE to own a pair of monitors! The high volume and clarity really turned me on to speaker specification and design, I wished I could experience the same clean sound at home with my own content.

I came across these speakers and noticed their similar design to a Roland product, I began searching for reviews and other data on these guys. These were in my price range and I went for it… I can’t say that these Behringer MS-16 compare to the bigger and more fantastic monitors I’ve heard before, but they do stay bright and clear at high volumes – I don’t think you can get a better set of powered speakers for the price.

I had these hooked up to my friends Roland piano, and they sounded very good. I heard a little bit of distortion while he mashed away at some Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2, but we did have them at an enormous volume. I could say we were breaking them in 🙂

These monitors have been hooked up to my computer most of the time, and have provided a very clean and comfortable sound for music, games and movies. I plan on making an adjustment though with the addition of a subwoofer in the future. Don’t get me wrong these monitors do have full-range output, but a sub will be handy when listening to some audio types.

I most recently played Beatmania through these guys and was absolutely thrilled by their performance! I can really appreciate the game and hear the instruments to play it well.

I think these speakers are the best bang for your buck if you’re looking for a set of powered speakers. If you’re mastering an audio track you may do well with this set. My advice is to go get informed at a decent music store first, then find something that fits your style and budget.

    I really like my set!

Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersI am not a musician. I was just looking for durable, powerful speakers for my desktop PC. I work nights at a help desk, and I wanted a simple looking product that would fill my office with streaming music (Pandora). The Behringer MS16 are really nice monitors for your keybaords, mixing board, or desktop computer / studio. They look like mini PA loudspeakers. They even have a 1/4″ microphone jack on the front panel or instant mixing with vocals. They have punch, power, and rich sound. If you are looking for desktop PC speakers, you really can’t do much better for the money. The only drawback I can think of is these speakers are 9″ tall. So they are not discreet little speakers. But you will appreciate the rich sound. A 6′ mono RCA cable (included) patches the speakers together. You can upgrate that cable to an Mediabridge Ultra Series – Dual Shielded Subwoofer Cable – RCA to RCA Gold Plated Pro Grade Connectors (15 Feet) if you need the extra distance. Behringer is a UK-based professional audio company and they have delivered an outstanding product here for everyone who needs amplified speakers for personal use.
