Great looking accessories at good price
The BG range has been my favourite for a long time. You can spend a lot of money on fancy electrical accessories – similarily you can spend a lot of money on sub-standard fancy electrical accessories. BG however have hit the nail on the head. The products are of a sound quality at a fair price. I was put on to these by a relative who is a Domstic Electricain many years ago and I have used them around my house since with zero failures. here are some similar looking ones made by another brand, but they feel nticebly less robust on the switching etc than these do.

Looks great and easy to fit. Good quality fitting. There is a slight hum despite doing all the research to have the correct edge for halogen lights but it isn’t too bad or I would have returned. Will get a better quality bulb now that I can dim it to a lower setting!

Perfect. I had all plugs that required an adapter for the aerial cable. This meant i didnt have to use thou. So i want to replace them all in my home eventually. I get a much better signal now without needing the adapter.

Bought this to replace a different make that showed signs of rust. This has a very thin seal so the metal doesn’t touch the wall. Nice quality, solid screws and solid action. Can’t fault.
Looks good, not ferromagnetic though
So it does look good. Price wise I’d say it’s surprising that the blank plates are often same price as actual switches which makes absolutely no sense and they therefore represent much worse value for money.
Also it’s not a ferromagnetic which means you can’t just stick magnets to it which was my intention (to stick IKEA tradfri smart switch to it).

Decent product but overpriced
Very good product. Nice finish and very easy to install. Think it is overpriced hence only 4 stars for value for money, but it works perfectly. Only recently installed hence 4 stars for sturdiness. Time will tell.
Its a posh socket..
Look well designed and built and easy to install ( I got and electrician to do it). USB ports work fine and after a year they still look great.
Only word of warning is to avoid scratching the finish as it can stand out. Otherwise a great bit of posh socket..

Perfect brushed stainless steal finish, bought along with other BG electrical items which will complement our new kitchen when completed next week.

4 USB’s. it’s getting to that stage where those are more important than the 3 pin plugs! No switches for the 2 3 pin plugs – but I don’t actually use them, so that’s no bother. Easy to install. Worth it if you can keep the sockets out of reach of little ones.
Live option only, easily installed.
Love the finish, easily installed and I’m no electrician! Lack of switches means it’s always live so need to be careful with kids. Plenty of usb ports which were great for charging phone and other devices like my clock and still had a spare one for the lamp and hoover.

A very nice finish and easy to install light switch. The connectors on the inside are very accessible and screw to hold the wire is solid The only reason it did not get 5 starts as the switch itself is not very smooth when you press it, there is a bit too much resistance, but hopefully over time it gets better, will update this review if it does.

Great switches that look fab fitted
Bought these to replace some Lap branded ones from Screwfix. The quality is miles better and the rocker switch mechanism just feels so much better. Solidly built and gives the impression it will last a long time. Looks fabulous on the wall too. Will buy this brand in future and staying away from poorer quality products.
Easy to install as long as you know what you are doing – do not attempt to install if you have never installed similar before! That being said – looks fantastic when installed, works great, def a good upgrade on the standard white stuff found in most kitchens. Great price as well, cheaper than the usual DIY places. Very quick delivery as well. Pro tip – buy one, get a card from the supplier with their details, contact supplier directly with any queries on pricing and delivery.

Really easy to install
Really good quality, with easy to understand instructions that guide you through the very easy installation process. The wiring is so easy as everything on the back of the socket is colour coded.
Look great when installed and provide some welcome extra space for charging our daughters phones, tablets etc.
Easy to fit!
These were easy to fit because they’re only 25mm deep – I tried some others previously that didn’t fit in the shallow sockets, whereas this was a direct replacement. The cable clamps are both labelled with text and colour coded with the modern UK scheme which further eased installation. We’ve tested USB-C phones, iPhone and iPad (Lightning) and Alexa all of which charge or run reliably and don’t seem to generate heat in the socket. I will reuse these again as we refurbish other areas of the house.
Great product but misled by contents descriptio
The product itself is fantastic and easy to install. I’m slightly disappointed as from the product description and package contents it states “2 Gang Plate” and 2x screw fixings. I believed this contained two of the plates as everywhere else it was described as a double and I only received one of everything. Perhaps this is my fault for misinterpreting but might be more helpful to update the package contents.
Stop looking and buy
High quality item from BG. Much cheaper than electrical whole sales and cheaper and much high quality than any where on the high st. Recommended by electricians and I agree ! I’ve had a few BG sockets for a kitchen refurb all off amazon and all cheaper than the competition with fast delivery
Perfect replacement and look classy
These are a perfect replacement. And so easy to fit even though I still have the old wiring in my house. Took less than 15 minutes and I have never done one before. (Yes, youtube came in handy and the instructions include the new and old wiring diagram) We will order some more and upgrade the whole house with these. The house is still standing and we still have power four hours later, so all is good.
Yup, there it is, doing what it should be doing – it’s ‘on’ and everything. Seriously though, an improvement over the last one which was becoming increasingly difficult to turn on. Comprehensive instructions too (for the ‘needy’). Splendid!

Nice looking socket, easy to install. The screws are a slightly different finish to standard screws so if you need to use longer screws, you’ll probably have to use ones that are not a perfect match.
Great finish
It’s a typical socket and has the inputs colour coded so fairly easy to install by a non-expert. The finish on this is amazing and it has held up well so far. Brushed nickel is definitely the way to go as it goes really well with all 3 kitchens I have installed these particular sockets in. Only slight issue I had was I thought the screws could have been longer, especially if the socket is going over some tiles rather than being flats against a wall.
Great switches as usual
Excellent looking fan isolator switch, looks really professional like something you see in a fancy hotel room. I am slowly replacing every plug socket and switch in my whole house with these ones and am really happy with everything so far. The quality is great, I’ve had some for 3+ years now and they look as good as they did the day I bought them.

Decent and looks fantastic, doesnt attract fingerprints or get damaged eaasily
great switch. the ‘screw’ to set the minimum dimmage is fragile and once you set it once, if you dont do it extremely carefully, you won’t be able to change the setting again easily since the plastic gets damaged if you turn it with a metal screwdriver. this was a non issue for me though, since I just wanted it to set to maximum output so that I could use it as a circular on/off switch.
RE the other parts though, they all seem high quality. everything that I needed was included.
the switch was also dropped on the floor hard, and didnt even get a scratch on it! which was a really nice surprise.
when in operation the switch makes a very light buzzing sound that you can hear if you get up close to it. the buzzing is much, much quieter than my old dimmer, and is hardly noticable unless you are in a super quiet room with your head next to the switch.
pressing the switch is nice and satisfying, gives a nice click, not too easy to press inwards and not too hard either – just perfect.
my only issue is that there aren’t any screw covers which I think wouldve made the product look even nicer, just in case someone scratches their 2 screws for whatever reaso
What all homes need now
Great product, looks great and benefits from two USB sockets which are in constant use in my home. Bought two of these for our kitchen and planning to buy more for around the house. Would highly recommend. Much cheaper buying here rather than from shops in Ireland too.
Not suitable for a simple socket change!
I was planning to swap a basic white double socket with one of these usb models. However, it soon became apparent that the back of this socket was way too big. In the end I gave up and couldn’t use it.
This was a great purchase for our conservatory which had a poor WiFi signal from the router in the lounge.
Had one of these sockets fitted, linked it to the existing WiFi using a tablet and it now plays our WiFi speaker with none of the connection problems we had in the past.
I have tried many WiFi repeaters to solve dead spots in my house and none have met expectations.
I just installed this repeater socket from BG Electrical and I have full reception upstairs, even in the extension which has a very thick external wall to get through.
The install was easy, just like any power socket setup. Configuring it to repeat my router WiFi signal had three options, i chose to connect to the sockets own WiFi connection and follow the simple config. Now my signal is repeated perfectly.

Nice finish, high quality, strong product but quality control is no quite 100% there.
Very good quality again from BG Electrical but there is a small issue with this particular item I bought. The power indicator light doesn’t work.
I will use it for the time being as it is a strong product but I will change it when I will have the ocasion because that small light indicator really helps in my dark hallway to find the switch.

Easy to install. Looks great on the wall.
Really easy to install. The instructions are very simple to understand and have picture illustrations. Any DIY person with a bit of experience will look at the rear and know exactly which terminals the supply goes (in) and your appliance (load) as it is engrained in the plastic. The back plate is not too chunky and fit nicely into a standard single socket. I found it easiest to cut my heater flex, attached, arrange the wires for a snug fit, then connect the supply wires. Give yourself plenty off spare cable as the loads connections are quite some distance from the flex inlet and will require around 3 inches of wiring to the rear to reach the connection points. The supply in connectors are all located to the right and was very easy to connect. They look really nice on the wall and I like having a indicator light on the spur simply because you know when there is power being supplied to the point when on and makes electrical fault finding a bit easier if something trips. After fitting this one as a tester I am not going to install all throughout my house to supply my electric heating system. They look really nice on once installed too. Highly recommend.

Installed and working
Got it same day, great service, so installed and working. Only thing I woud say is that the module is actually slightly bigger (depth) than the previous unit so was a bit difficult to adjust into the wall box as the cables were pushing against the back of the module. Otherwise a straight swap. I would have thought that all dimmers have the same profile? Seems to be quiet even on the lowest setting so hopefully will last longer than my last one (which became intermittent to press on/off). Good service by Amazon though, and took advantage of the FOC delivery with Prime trial.

I installed these myself despite never doing it before the instructions are very easy to follow make sure to turn your power off the floor you’re installing… They look really nice, I needed to do a little touching up mid switch on the paint work but otherwise I was really pleased with the quality and look.

I purchased three of these sockets, they have not failed as of yet!
They look and feel very solid and the charge output is great.
Some older members of the family are still getting to grips with not needing a plug to charge their phone lol
I did have an electrician to fit these sockets, fighting the urge to follow a youtube tutorial.

Looks great! Connections are marked/colour-coded, making it a cinch to install. Replaced the old socket in less then 5 minutes. Nice to have built-in USB ports without the need for the plug. An excellent buy, which is nearly 10 less then Homebase. Will be buying a few more to replace our older ones. Definitely recommended!

Prompt dispatch and just what I needed and it also matches all my other sockets and light switches, who needs to go for the more expensive option of skimming a wall where the old switch was when you can buy 1 of these face plates to cover it up and they also look good and plus if you wanted to put the existing switch back in the same place then all you have to do is just remove the face plate rather than having to have the messy job of having to chase out the wall again.

These look great in the kitchen and are a massive improvement from the old white plastic ones however two or the three have scratches on. Whether they were like that when I got them or I managed to scratch them between the stage of opening the box and fitting it on the wall who knows but you need to be careful handling these.

Easy to install, very high polish (shine) finish, (higher than I expected, i.e. Mirror shine!)

BG are generally Good quality, however this faceplate just felt cheap and tacky.
Maybe I’m being too harsh, you get what you pay for and at the end of the date this is just a faceplate.

Look brilliant, well built and solid
Really nice, seem to be well made and the chrome coloured ones look brilliant.
Extremely small gripe is the back of it is much wider than the old ones, not deaper, just wider… i assume the usb functionally takes up a bit more space.. it took some time to get the wires to fit in the remaining space.

Ordered enough to do the whole house. One arrived faulty and non functional and not eligible for return. It’s only 5 but slightly annoying, mostly as I have to order an additional one to finish the job.
Other than that they are nice and turning lights on and off.
Supplied fixings are very short, even in a standard back box not a single one reached, so maybe stock up on some longer fixings to match the faceplate.
Screws with the light switch are a bit on the short side
Nice looking light switch but screws that came with it were a bit too short so we had to replace them with longer ones. Unfortunately we haven’t yet been able to find black nickel screws to buy so the ones we used don’t match, although it’s probably only us that notice.
Nice looking
Bought this to repcae a std one so I could dim LED candela lamps without the flicker. This has slight flicker ocasionally but totaly usable also noted that the dimer setting can completely turn of the lamps which caused a few issues turning on and off thinking the thing had brocken before turning back up and light come back on agai
Does the job well
I wanted this to replace a normal socket near my computer but I was unable to do so because the hole in the wall was too shallow. I found a socket in another room with a deeper hole and it fitted with no problem. Did not need an electrician and I am happy with the result.
18 month update: These have stood the test of time and are still looking like they were put in place yesterday. The USB ports work well and have lasted.

Excellent dimme
This is a great product. Works well with halogen, have not tried led. Dont forget to earth the front plate either direct to the front plate terminal, if you have a plastic back box or via the terminal in a metal back box with a loop between that terminal and the front plate terminal.

I have started to favour BG over MK, BG quality is just as good and may even be better for some products compared to MK, and is almost always cheaper.
Regarding these metal BG switches, the thing I liked is that the actual switch matches the faceplate – have a look at others where the switch is in contrasting plastic – this is much better asthetically.

I bought this before reading other reviews. Unlike some other users I’ve had no issues with this. Found the internals just fine; no different to other units I have bought. Took 15 mins to remove my old blown dimmer and pop this in its place. All worked perfectly first time – need to see how it goes over time.

I followed the enclosed instructions and adjusted for LED bulbs of which there is 5 and all 5 dim as they should. these bulbs were 4 watts and dim with no problems at all no flickering or shutting off. Unlike the dimmer switch that was in the house when I moved in. Good build quality and would def recommend to anyone

But, if you have LED dimmers you will need to alter the settings before installing it as by default it is is set up for Tungsten bulbs. Making the adjustment is not difficult, it just means turning a screw but you will need a very fine screwdriver to do it (or a nailfile).
The only observation I have is that if you turn the lights down to the lowest value before being entirely off they gradually brighten over time. I dont know if this is typical behaviour or just a problem with this particular product. Its no big deal, just means that an hour after setting the level, you may have to go back and turn it down again.

Product is exactly as described, and arrived very swiftly. Just be aware that the metal is very polished and will show up every finger print and mark. They’re easily removed, but do show up. However, the switch looks great on the wall.
These are brilliant quality and excellent value for money, arrived quickly and easy to fit replacing old sockets. Note they are shiny though and not brushed but finger marks don’t show up on them.

I had already bought 2 of these and they worked perfectly. They look really nice in caravan and now i have more than enough phone charging points. This one i had to request refund as the usbs didnt work bur electrical socket did. Received a refund and i would not hesitate to recommend this seller as they sell in an honest and professional manner.
PREVIOUS REVIEW: Very disappointed. Does not work with our energy saving bulbs. The light is dimmed even on max and then starts flickering. Does not work at all.
EDIT: I ordered a dimmable bulb from Philips and the dimmer works perfectly fine now. It dims in a very graduate way and the bulb is also not flickering. The previous bulbs I used must not be dimmable. I can recommend this dimmer but make sure you have dimmable bulbs if you use energy saving bulbs.

Great price and good quality item. Was easy to replace my old one which had stopped working. Slight difference in back shape but seemed to fit fine and was easy to do.
Really slick finish and feel to the faceplate. The cooker switch feels of good quality and the addition of led indicator lights for both the cooker switch and the plug socket is a nice touch.
I added a bit of grey caulk around the edge to give a neat finish on slightly bumpy grey tiles. The screws are NOT the ones included as I went for longer ones in a brass finish to create a bit of a contrast.
Easy to install as connections do cater for the thicker supply cable for a cooker connection.
Reading some reviews I wonder if some have made absolutley sure they have every core in the wire connected firmly to each terminal to prevent overheating because of the high current used by a cooker.
Cheap and good quality
I have replaced all the original white plastic light switches in my flat with these brushed metal switches. They are easy to install and appear well made.
I will soon be replacing all the plug sockets with their brushed metal sockets. Can’t fault their products so far.
I purchased the polished chrome finish, which looks beautiful and much more expensive than it actually was. The finish is excellent. The installation for this socket is very simple and is exactly the same as re-wiring a single plug socket with the benefit of having the two USB sockets. Brilliant! Will probably purchase a couple more for around the house!

Look great, work well, price is right. Electrician says was easy although he did need some longer screws for a couple of the back plates we had in the wall but which he had plenty on him, so what’s not to like. A good strong click too when pressed, While not AS modern as screwless and not as thin as some at more cost, in a traditional house, they are the perfect replacement for the old plastic white ones without trying to standout, to give a cleaner well maintained home look.
Finally, I know what it’s like to feel indecisive when buying or comparing products, so If you found my review helpful please mark it as such, as I really enjoy knowing my reviews helped other people make an informed decision.
Just as advertised – smart and does the job. Unlike some other units, this one doesn’t shutter off the other socket when you plug something in – so my shaver can go through its cleaning cycle on the 115V socket while our electric toothbrush is charging on the 230V socket.
Hums like many other isolating sockets but it’s not intrusive and only noticeable if you specifically listen for it.

Generally excellent and certainly good value for money. There aren’t that many to choose from and this does everything I wanted. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars, instead only 4, is that it feels a bit flimsy and cheaply made because the metal/metallic cover is extremely thin and the plastic terminals/connectors on the back seem a bit puny too.
However once installed on the wall it’s ok, works fine (of course) and isn’t quite so obviously a compromise (in my opinion) with probably the thinnest, meanest cover plate the manufacturers can get away with!

Also you will need to check the clearance/ depth of your box as these take up more space than the ones without USB
These sockets are finished to a good standard and look great when installed, the switch has a good positive action and all the terminals are securely mounted on the rear. The only slight negative is the fascia is a little thin so you have to be quite careful not to over tighten the screws or it pulls in the surrounding metal.

I mean, it’s not needed for someone who know what colours are what, but it certainly a helpful little touch and would increase safety for the folk fitting this who are inexperienced or lack confidence. The socket itself is nice any shiny and although I would’ve preferred a white switch, just like the inserts, this one is actually the same shiny metal as the body. The picture didn’t show this well, but that’s my fault – not a fault of the product, so it gets 5 stars.

I really had to screw it in tight to make it look ok, and also had to cut the rubber washer in one back box, as that was preventing it going in. I’ve bought three and will buy more, but I wish I’d a bit more space in the box to make it an easier swap.

Elegantly finished, and works perfectly. An added extra is the internal ‘low level adjuster’ which sets the minimum brightness. This means you can set the lowest brightness to just above ‘out’ for any kind of lights.

I ordered 2 of these to go by our beds,we use them to charge our ipads, phones and kindle’s overnight. The electrician who fitted them told me to be careful when choosing usb sockets, as they may state a power for the USB, but then favour one side over the other. So one USB could be using 2 amps the other 1. These sockets I believe know what is plugged in and distribute the feed evenly. They look great and again were recommended by our electrician.

None of this is contained in the instructions but Garmin eventually advised me that: “The battery in your GLO can only be charged when the unit is on. If the GLO is turned off the unit will not charge at all.
NOTE: The GLO will continue to search for satellites while charging which will cause the battery to drain at the same time. If the GLO is in a position where it cannot acquire satellites, the battery may take substantially longer to fully charge”
Love these. Replaced all of the sockets in my kitchen and lounge with them. Nice brushed steel finish on them, which doesn’t show fingerprints like a chrome finish would. Be aware that they need more space behind them than a standard non-usb power socket, so if your back boxes are quire shallow, you may struggle to get them to fit.

Its not masterplug branded but that doesnt matter! This switch is very well made. The finish is nice and shiny with a darkish tint so looks very smart. That coupled with a very sturdy switch mechanism make this product very good indeed. The actual switch works with a satisfying click too. Highly recommended!!

These are dead smart to look at on the wall…. Have decided to change all of my switches and sockets over to these brushed steel ones, I decided to buy this make over cheaper ones just because they have rounded edges and have that quality look about them.. They all arrived the next day as I bought them on ‘Prime’….. They were all well packed, Boxed with packing paper so in good condition when I got them..
A good choice as they look the real business…… You might find though that if you have ‘OLDER’ wall boxes, to fit these too,,, you may need to but some longer screws, as I had to… so factor that in.

Fabulous quality switches. I have bought a number of brushed steel switches and sockets in the past, but I would class these are the best quality I have ever bought and amazingly probably the cheapest ! Lovely finish … no white or black plastic switch surrounds at all. Lovely smooth rocking motion on the switch itself. Easy to follow installation instructions in English and two matching quality screws. Comes in a blister pack which is actually easy to open … just prises open on one end, instead of being sealed all the way around .. a minor point perhaps, but one that usually causes most of us some irritation !
