I bought this because we have ceramic floor (looks like wooden planking) throughout our ground floor; and we have 2 small puppies who in the winter have been traipsing their tiny but muddy feet through the house each time they go outside (they aren’t big on using the doormat). Got fed up with mopping and scrubbing, so thought would give this a try as we already had a Bissell carpet cleaner. Short review: works really well. Uses a relatively small quantity of water (about 2.5 litres) to do the entire ground floor (4 rooms, long corridor and 3 area rugs), which necessitates emptying the ‘dirty’ water container about 4 times in total. It scrubs the floor very effectively, and picks up everything, including the smallest of dog hairs. The floor dries very quickly. The cable is long enough to do large room without relocating, but not so long that it becomes a pain. The Bissell Pet cleaning formula removes almost all dried in marks, and smells very fresh – the consumption rate is moderate (about 10 to 1 concentration I think). The only shortcoming (previously mentioned by others) is that it leaves a small strip unscrubbed around the edges; i cure this by using a dish brush to scrub there and then use the machine to clean up the arisings. The water it brings off the floor is satisfyingly filthy, but notably the scrubbing head remains pretty clean throughout due to the design. The dirty container is not huge, but that actually makes it easier to handle. The solid waste catcher works well, and reduces the amount of solids you would pour down the drain very considerably. The airway cleaning stand works well to ensure that the machine is left clean, and other cleanup simply involves rinsing out the scrubber head and the plastic water container and filter; these have to then be dried for 24hrs. Spares are available on various auction sites (and Amazon). The item is pretty light even when full, and is very manoueverable, the head is just narrow enough to fit between the legs of dining chairs without moving them. The area rug mode works pretty well (not as well as a proper carpet cleaner, i think because the scrubber head is quite soft, but does a reasonable job – you can buy an aftermarket head specifically for rugs, though I haven’t tried it). Storage space is the footprint of the machine (its probably too heavy to hang up). You could use it for spot clean ups (it does that well), though that isn’t really what it is designed for. Reliability good so far – I’ve used it a fair few times. All in all – a good machine that works well at its specific task and is relatively easy to set up and clean up afterwards.
Game changer!
This does it all – vacuums, cleans and dries. Does a very good job of it too.
I know cleaning it afterwards is a bit of a hassle, but overall it makes my life so much easier.
Excellent floor cleaner!
A total game changer! Forget the bucket and mop, it’s a bit pricey but worth the money. The cleaning solution goes so far, the suction is great and the floor ends up almost dry, super easy to use and reasonably light weight. I only wish I had bought it sooner!
Good product but…
Overall a good product. Used it 2 times yet. I don’t mind the 30 minutes use in of one time full charge that takes more than 3 hours and the amount of times I have to go back and forth to refill and empty the tanks while using it but there’s one thing for me that doesn’t make it good enough. If only it can cover the edges as well. There’s around a 2 inch gap from both sides of the brush roll that doesn’t cover the sides/edges/corners.
3 in 1 cleane
I love this cleaner. I can do my hard floors and rugs all in one go. No more vacuuming first and then going around again with the mop. This cleaner vacuums, mops & dries all in one go. Don’t have to wait for floors to dry and I can clean my rugs as well. The downside is that it’s noisy.
Fantastic
This cleaner is amazing, saw it advertised decided to purchase have not been happier. It works so well general hoovering cleaning carpets and kitchen floors so quick and easy would highly recommend purchasing.
Excelle
Only had it a few days, but so far so good, wish I had one years ago. Mops just don’t get up the dog hair and grit, but this does and my wooden floors look so much better. Worth every penny.
Note this is after a single use, so can’t comment on how well it lasts yet.
I only discovered that vacuum mops existed about a week ago, previously I had been vacuuming first and then mopping like some sort of caveman.
This has changed the game. The water in the dirty tank was frankly embarrassingly disgusting after its first pass around the house. We have mostly laminate.
I chose the wired version because I always worry about battery life as the product ages. I just buy a 10m single gang extension socket so I don’t have to keep switching sockets as I go around the house.
Pros:
– does what it says
– cleaning is straightforward
– much easier than vacuuming AND THEN mopping.
– much less physical effort for (apparently) much more cleaning versus manual mopping
Cons:
– it’s pretty noisy
To be upfront, I love this cleaner. My downstairs is completed tiled, my upstairs is half carpet and half laminate and this machine works well on all the surface both as a standalone hoover but also washing. The ability to hoover and mop the floors at the same time is fantastic and very effective. Sure, there are some marks that might not clean up easily, a scraper might be necessary, but the same can be said when using any mop. So, this cleaner is great for hoovering and mopping so what is the downside?
This cleaner doesn’t go right up to the edge so you end up with a couple inch perimeter around the walls / furniture that isn’t properly cleaned. It doesn’t have any additional tools for awkward spaces, crevices or stairs meaning you need another machine if you wish to vacuum your stairs, it’s also a little bulky so doesn’t go under furniture that a lot of other vacuum cleaners would.
I love this machine I really do, on the basic improvement side it could probably do with having a couple extra rollers included but generally it’s fantastic but I just wish it could clean up to the edge and had further tools so it could be used on the stairs etc.
I waited a bit before reviewing the Bissell. I find it very good for daily cleaning but it can’t handle very dirty floors: debris/hair get stuck in the wheels, along the brush roll and in the rubber thing under the floorhead, resulting in the Bissell spreading dirt around instead of cleaning. So if the floor is really bad I still vacuum first. For this reason I didn’t find it very useful on our recent house renovation, but can’t fault the machine as that was not your normal household dirt. As I said, it’s great for day to day cleaning, but keep your vacuum cleaner, it won’t replace that. It won’t clean right up to the skirtings/plinth or corners, but it will vacuum. And it won’t clean under furniture, not even beds as it doesn’t bend enough. It’s a bit heavy, not too easy to maneuver, and loud. Cleaning the machine is OK, and once you get the hang of it it will take 5 min. I use it a couple of times a day, sometimes more if the dog comes in with dirty paws, but only clean the machine at the end of the day and it’s fine. If dealing with tough stains on my tiles, I pour some hot water from the kettle on the stain, leave it on for a couple of minutes and then use the Bissell. Works well. The brush roll and filter are not expensive, but the cleaner is.. smells lovely though. The concept is good and all in all it’s a good machine but it has its limits, and you won’t replace vacuum cleaner and mop..
Cleans the floors well with very little water left behind but it leaves a strip about 20mm at each side of the cleaning head so you can’t clean to the edges unless you do it by hand.
Came across this product in USA when on holiday and was impressed at how clean it got both tiled floor and messy carpet. Purchased when we got home with hope that our tiled kitchen floor would come up looking as good as it does after bucket and mop. It did. So tried it on badly soiled carpet area in hallway where everyone comes in with shoes on. Really, really pleased with the results. OK then went a bit mad doing downstairs loo which has come up like new, a couple of marks on sitting room carpet and lots of marks on dining room carpet, courtesy of our exuberant grandson, bless him, and all gone. The only down side is how quickly the dirty water fills up and a bit depressing at learning how much dirt it found. Will use it more frequently to keep everywhere nice and presentable.
Makes cleaning hard floors a breeze
Wish I’d bought it sooner. I can now clean my 3m x 6m kitchen, 2m x 5m hall and 2m x 2m utility in under 20 minutes – vacuumed and mopped in one pass. Love it. Highly recommend for anyone with children and pets. Incredibly easy to clean after use and lots of different roller choices to fit your flooring.
Easy to use
Easy to use. The detergent water flew out uncontrollable when I used with filled up the full tank. The cleaner is quite heavy when I have to bring it the upstair bedroom.
I thought this would save time by vacuuming and moping at the same but in reality the setting it up and after care of cleaning the brush etc. Means it’s about the same but I still absolutely love it. I would suggest if your floors are very dirty to do a spot clean first because it’s not a deep cleaner but it’s great for every day on my laminate flooring, and I’ve been using asda wood floor cleaner or method wood floor cleaner in it with no issues. I’ve NEVER been able to get my hair out of my bedroom rug with a regular vacuum, I’ve always had to use a rubber brush which is very time consuming and still never really got it all out but the crosswave on rug cleaning mode did it no problem so I’m extra happy about that.
AWESOME PRODUCT!
I am totally in love with this product. We have hard floors in the kitchen, dinning room, hall, utility and conservatory. Sweeping or vacuuming and then mopping takes ages, and as I am registered disabled this product has quite literally changed my life – I love it. I can go round all the hard floors in half hour and not be crippled up with pain after. Its light to move, has lights on it so you can see where you are cleaning, very good suction and leaves floor REALLY clean and almost dry. Highly recommended!
Powerful machine
This machine is not to chunky like most other models but it’s powerful I knew my kitchen floor needed regrouting but didn’t expect it to suck up the old grout as well as the water having said that it leaves my kitchen floor lovely and clean and my living room rug after the dog has been running in and out it sucks up everything dirt water dog hair (grout) I use a supermarket cheapo detergent which makes it even better well worth the buy.
Easy to use
Love this . Much easier to use than the older version. Floors, washed and dried with little effort. Not too fond Of their own cleaning solution. There is no nice smell from it. Delighted with this machine
Must have
Shame I’m not an influencer I’d do a great promo on this lol…anyways make sure you read instructions before use hoover mop and drier what more could you ask for ..I was embarrassed by the colour of water it dried up I will never use a mop n bucket again or hoover
I’m disabled too so was a bit winery on how heavy it would be but surprise surprise its pretty light …
I’ve bought so many floor cleaners over the years, endless steamers, last one was an air glide (returned after a year), I’ve used the Bissell a few times and I really hope it stays this good, I will edit this if it goes down hill. I have 5 French bulldogs and two kids so the floors get dirty, this thing cleans really well and the floors are dry within minutes (5 mins tops), the water it sucks back up into the waste tank is dark brown. Battery lasts well, I do the lounge, kitchen and hallway (the dog sleeping zone) and barely use one third of the battery. Cleaning the machine is easy. It’s a lot of money but I have no regrets so far. I don’t really use it as a vacuum, we have a battery Dyson and robot vacuum but the vacuum aspect is certainly a bonus.
Go for it.
I don’t normally write reviews but I felt I needed to after using this product for the first time. I have lino wood look floors in my kitchen which has small grooves in. It’s incredibly difficult to keep clean with a traditional mop and bucket as the mop just moves the dirty water around, ultimately drying in the grooves. Our GSD also loves to dig in the garden and bring in her muddy paws. I thought I would never see our original floor colour again. This product fixed it on the first go! It cleaned the whole floor in about 15 minutes. Spotless! The deep clean button on the handle really tackled the dried in mud. Do not be put off if you feel it takes too long to clean because it is a time saver in the long run. Take your time going backwards and forwards and allow the bristles to do their magic. Just be careful not to overfill the dirty water tank as the water does squirt onto the clean floor. Really easy to clean and manoeuvre about the home. The rug setting isn’t too bad either and doesn’t leave them soaking wet.
However it doesn’t quite reach the edges of the kitchen so I did need to go round with a small mop to get those bits.
With that said, the time I have saved getting this product is life changing!
You can also use other cleaning products, just make sure it’s really diluted.
BUY THIS PRODUCT!
Excellent produc
Would recomend I have 4 dogs 2 being st Bernards This us a god send I love it 1 star for minor It does not go quite up to edge so ever so often I have to steam the edge
It takes longer than hoovering but saves time overall as no mopping required anymore.
Runs fine with 1 floor cleaner from Aldi diluted about 5to1.
Incredibly satisfying emptying the discusting black water when you have finished. Amazing how much dirt is on your floors when they look quite clean already.
This hoovers and cleans brilliantly, sucks up all dog hair and then cleans floor and sucks up dirty water. So easy to whizz round in the morning but it’s a bit noisy for nighttime. Every bit that can be cleaned just clicks off and can be rinsed really quickly. The colour of the water sucked up makes me realise mopping doesn’t work! Really great invention and well worth the cost for how much easier it is to keep hard floors clea
Works well when the furries are sick everywhere and needs deep cleaning
I have textured matte tiles in my kitchen which I have never been able to keep clean. I’ve tried various different mops, brushes, solutions, steaming, cleaning by hand with brute force! I was beginning to give up hope and was not expecting a miracle cure with the Bissell but alas I have a miracle!
Pic shows the first clean I did, getting to know how the product works I think it can do even better. It’s so quick and easy to use. It vacuums, cleans and sucks up the water at the same time. Floor practically already dry once done. Also used on kardean flooring and a mat and was equally as good. The amount of dirt that comes away is crazy.
Would highly recommend.
Great product and much quicker than vacuuming and mopping separately. Easy to use and cleaning is quick. It gets up so much dirt, which is great with a cat and small children. If there are dried on stains on the floor (usually where the kids have dropped food or the cat has spilt food) then I spray it with dettol before I start and by time I get to that section it comes straight off with the bissell. I have had it for 6 months and would definitely recommend
Liked having to use only one tool for what would be 3 tasks otherwise. Also dirt is sucked up and thrown away – no bags, no dirt remaining on floor. Got dirt off mats far better than a very good vacuum cleaner. It is best to follow instructions for fairly immediate cleaning of parts after use. My only problem (being somewhat disabled) is that I find it heavy to use. But 3 other visitors have tried it out and had no problems.
This is the best 200 I have spent in 2022. This hoover is amazing. I constantly had / have to mop and Hoover every three days as I have a puppy. This bissell has cut down this process in time by 50%. Also the water that collects from mopping really shows you how dirty the floors are and how weak you are compared to a machine. My floors are cleaner, the bissell is so easy to clean. honestly it’s the best investment.
I had a dyson hoover before, the suction on this is 10x better.
I bought this for mainly for my uneven rough coated kitchen slabs. It cleans them very well. Sucking up bits while it washes. It was a bit fiddly to clean first time just because it was stiff from being new, but now its a doddle. I tried it on a very thick uneven rug (one with cut out sections on it) and it struggled to clean it, would imagine it would do better on a smooth normal rug though. Definitely recommend it for hard floors.
I suppose it’s the old adage “you can’t beat elbow grease”. Yes, it does what it says on the tin, it’s a good sturdy product and it certainly cleans floors reasonably well. It does vacuum but after a few goes I would recommend giving the area a normal vacuum first as it can be a touch messy cleaning out debris from all the various channels. It cleans well to a degree, any stubborn stains you will need to hover over the area for a while to let the roller do its job. If you’re using a mop and bucket on a similar mark a good rub is all it takes to remove. However, where this machine triumphs is its economical use of water and its ability to suck up the excess liquid; with a mop and bucket you are spreading far more water over the same area which obviously increases drying time, the Bissell cuts drying time exponentially! It feels like it takes the same time to clean a floor with this product but obviously at a far more relaxed pace. Worth the investment?….. Put it this way; it makes floor cleaning a touch more pleasant. 🙂
I’ve become a bit of an expert on cleaning hard floors and this is the 5th washer/dryer I’ve tried. All the others either got sent back or e-bayed! With two dogs I need something that works as I don’t like spending my life cleaning floors. The Bissell Crosswave really does the job! I like that it is very easy to use, i.e. all the bits click nicely together – no struggling to put bits back once cleaned. Cleaning it is very simple – the roller does itself automatically and the other bits just need a rinse under a warm water tap and left to dry. The clean and dirty water tanks are both big enough to do 3 rooms plus 2 bathrooms and the battery time just about allows me to get round before it runs out. But in fact it recharges in about 15 minutes.
Dog hairs are sucked up and collected in a filter, so you don’t block the sink when you empty it. It also goes up close to the edges which I like. I’m not sure how it would perform on really dirty, greasy floors, but for what I would consider normal use, I really recommend this machine.
I researched a lot, read reviews, watched videos.. all to make sure I wouldn’t be left disappointed with an expensive hoover. And I’m not! our tiles are very hard to keep it clean, mop and hoovering were not doing much for us. So I got this one to try to keep our floors cleaner and they defo do look cleaner. I use this once a week in the whole downstairs and use a robovac twice or 3 times just to pick up the dust and food on the floor (which happens often when you have a toddler). And the floor looks brigher! cannot say more! but my dog hair gets stuck very easy (fact) but it doesn’t change the fact that our floors are cleaner and is so much quicker using this than the bucket/mop/steamer.
As a busy mum of two I want to get my household chores done a quick as possible. This Bissel 3 in 1 gets the job done in half the time. I like the fact that the used water gets separated so its not like a standard mop where you are reusing the water. I love the fact that its quick drying and because I have white marble floors its nice to see that there are hardly any visible streaks after it dries.
There are 3 minor issues that I have to mention although I am still happy with this purchase. The first one is that it doesn’t clean all the way up to the wall. Due to the design it doesn’t get right to the edge so I have to use a cloth to clean the edges. The second is that I wish I would have bought the wireless version. The wired version has the wire coming out from the bottom so when you cleaning you need to keep picking it up and moving it out of the way. Lastly, I wish that we can use other cleaning products aside from bissell, whilst the product does a good job it would have been nice to be able to use other cleaning product alternatives especially ones where it is anti bacterial.
Apart from that this is definitely one of the best buys I have purchased to help my cleaning routine done alot quicker.
This machine is a robust beast that lives up to Bissell's long reputatio
I thought too long about buying this appliance last time it was listed at a sale price and missed out, so this time I grabbed it!
In short it’s brilliant, and has totally surpassed my expectations.
We have polished black granite tiles in our kitchen and using either a steamer or a mop have always been left with streaks previously. Not with this, they dry quickly and totally streak free. We used the Bissell multi-floor cleaning fluid included. I’ll be ordering more of this.
It was just as good on our wood laminate. It has a ‘rug’ setting, we don’t have any rugs but we do have a large mat strip at the front door which I tried it on, I was stunned at what it got out of this and how clean it was after.
It’s very easy to clean after use, rinse out the waste water tank and filter and the brush washes perfectly clean easily with some fairy liquid.
OMG why didn't I get one of these earlie
OMG why didn’t I have one of these earlier.
Saves loads of time no hoover first then having to mop ….this is great …and it even cleans your rugs too…only one thing the solution that you get in the box isn’t very big I used it with a few days and had to order more which is expensive for the use I will need to keep ordering every week …
But that’s the only down side and nothing really to do with the quality of the produc
Phenomenal Sturdy Cleane
Amazing floor cleaner. We have moved into a new build and despaired with builders taking little care on the beautiful wood flooring. This machine is sturdy , simple to use and does an amazing job. It will change my life! Floors look lovely now and I even ran it across Persian rugs with amazing results on the rug setting . Very satisfactory seeing the filth and sludge we picked up., cannot believe it . Just one tiny moan the roller finishes about 1″ from skirtings so after cleaning need to wipe by hand border areas, have searched for a tool for this but don’t think it exists . Don’t let this put you off it’s a wonderful machine . We have purchased the recommended Bissel cleaning fluid but it is expensive , it goes a long way and we are using 1/2 the recommended quantity with great results.
Leaves floor almost dry!
I spent a lot of time researching different hard floor cleaners before choosing the Bissell Crosswave. I have 5 cats and a dog who all use a dog flap to come in and out, so there is lots of mud and dirt brought in and occasionally the odd decapitated and disembowled pigeon!! Getting fed up with a mop, which is hard work and leaves the floor quite wet, I wanted a machine that sucks the dirty water up, rather than just swirling the mud around like some machines, and my floor gets too dirty for a steam cleaner. I have a Bissell carpet machine, but it is big and heavy and a nightmare to clean after use, so the fact that the Crosswave also cleans rugs was a plus, although I didn’t expect it to be as deep cleaning as the actual carpet machine.
To say I’m impressed is an understatement, it far exceeds my expectations! I used it immediately it arrived and was struck straight away by how light and maneuverable it is. The dirty water tank does not hold as much as the clean tank, but you know when it needs emptying because the noise of the machine changes. It is very easy to fill, and simple to clean after use. It even comes with a stand with an attachment to store the wet roller and let it dry, which protects the floor after use. It leaves the floor only damp, so it was drying before I finished the kitchen which is exactly what I wanted.
People have complained that it doesn’t clean right to the edges, but if you use the machine head on to the wall/cupboards, rather than going sideways, it does clean to the edge better. Another complaint is that it is very noisy. I disagree, it’s no noisier that a vacuum cleaner, and definitely less noisy than my carpet machine.
The multi surface roller that comes supplied has both microfiber areas and hard bristles, and I found that for really stubborn mess, a quick spray with the trigger back and forth, but not sucking the water back up and coming back to the mess later, loosened the dirt and allowed the hard bristles in the roller to pick it up. I was truly disgusted by the colour of the dirty water, and how much pet hair was in it! The day after I first used it, we had an accidental spillage and as the Crosswave is so quick to set up and use, I decided to give the floor another clean. The photo attached is the dirty water from the second clean! I am horrified to realise that when I thought the floor was clean, it really wasn’t and shows how efficient the Crosswave it!
It took no time to finish my kitchen, dining area, hall and bathroom, so I decided to try it on the sitting room rug. Once again I was amazed, especially at how the roller picked up pet hair, in fact it picks up fur better than the carpet shampooer and left the grey rug noticeably cleaner, it even removed what looked like a ketchup stain. On a roll now, and because it is so light, I opened the bed-setee flat, and used it on that…..and then did the stairs. The stair carpet has never looked so good, not only is it clean and fur free, but the pile has been lifted. Every time I emptied the dirty water tank, I was stunned by how much dirt the Crosswave had removed!
A definite plus is the ease with which I can now clean the whole house, you just choose either the ‘rug’ button (which dispenses more fluid), or the ‘hard floor’ button, and that’s it, it seamlessly cleans everything, even vacuuming up bits as it washes. The cable is really long meaning I’m not continually changing plug sockets, so I can move through the house quickly.
I don’t think my Carpet shampooing machine will get much use now, I will just use the Crosswave everywhere! My only gripe is the cost of Bissell’s own floor cleaning formula, but I tried another brand with no problems, so I will continue to use the low suds machine formula from a different manufacturer when I need it, for the same results at a much cheaper cost!
Lastly, after use, all you do is remove and rinse the tanks, pull off and wash the filter, pop off the front cover over the brush roller, pull that out, and rinse. It is very easy and quick, then as I said earlier, the brush stands up in the attachment to the stand to dry till next use. As the machine is so small, it now lives permanently in the kitchen, taking up very little room, and ready to be used immediately. I really can’t say how happy I am with it, it has, without a doubt, made cleaning all my flooring a doddle!
The Best Buy. Great investment.
White porcelain tiles and a very muddy, hairy spaniel and the cross wave takes it all in its stride. I did some research before purchasing. The bissell seemed to have better suction than the other choices. Their pet pro option comes with a different brush & a filter, other than that it is the same machine. As we pour the dirty water down the toilet we didn’t need to the filter and you can buy the brush online for cheaper. I have no issues with this brush. Cleans the floor with no issues. Takes my mopping time from about 2 hours to 45 mins for the entire ground floor of our house. You do have to go round the edges with a wipe after as it doesn’t have a really tight to edge suction.
Highly highly highly recommend. Would be lost without it now!
Just what I needed!
I have a large area of porcelain tiles and a mud monster usually known as a golden retriever. Never feel I get the floor really clean using either a mop and bucket or my steam cleaner. Also takes ages to dry. And always concerned dirty water residue is left on the tiles.
This has made cleaning the floor so easy. Sucks up the dirty water ( shockingly dirty!) and dries so quickly. So easy to use and great suction power. My tiles look fabulous.
My only feedback is that it doesn’t get right up to the edge of the kitchen cabinets so I still need to clean manually. Not the end of the world though.
Amazing
This is a must have if you have hard floors. It cleans and dries well, much drier than a steam mop would leave your floor. Good for spills and small accidents . I personally wouldn’t pick up really dirty stuff with it but thats just because I wouldn’t want the roller going over them then over the rest of my floor. It’s just my choice. I’ve cleaned a small patch of carpet with it and it brought it up a great . It’s not like new but I’d say a good 85% improvement. Easy to clean, I like to do it after every use but some say you don’t have to. I put the filter on the radiator to dry. It’s dry by the next day. I am going to buy a second roller and filter so that I don’t have any downtime. Again choice. Suction is very good . As good as my shark I’d say but not as easy to use on carpet alone, as my shark. I will use it on my hard floors and the odd piece of cleaning on carpet/rug. For hoovering alone I’ll use my shark . You can however buy a roller more specific to carpet. On the whole a marvellous addition to my cleaning arsenal.
Much better than expected
Seeing the mixed reviews I wasn’t expecting much from this machine. But omg it is a game changer. I tried one from a leading brand and it left puddles all over our kitchen floor. But this one is brilliant cleans the floors really well and easy to clean the machine after use. The solution is expensive but I find just hot water alone cleans the floor just as well so alternate. It is a bit heavy but not that much that it cannot be used. If the machine is tilted too much to try get under furniture it will stop working so need to keep it flat on the floor. I have noticed the machine does have a burning smell after use I uavent figured out where it is coming from yet but its still working so until it goes bang its a good buy.
best thing since sliced bread
The Bissell Crosswave is a must for anyone with kids or pets and hard floors. I have 5 dogs and a churned up garden after so much rain. Need I say more. It was beginning to be a nightmare and I didn’t believe there was a easy way out. However the ease is amazing, just hoover and wash at the same time. It does dry the floor more than leaving it to opening doors (and waiting, for yet more muddy wet footprints). It is a bit noisy but I can forgive that. It is easy to clean, unlike most carpet cleaners where the fur gets trapped and is impossible to get out. Or hoovers that smell doggy and you can’t get rid of the smell. The Crosswave is simple to empty and run under water. The front comes off to get to the brush with ease. I am so delighted.
It does the job - and does it very well indeed!
We researched to find a floor cleaner that would be light enough for me to lift easily and also one that had a clean/dirty tank – this machine fitted the bill. I think you would need to vacuum say one in three times – in order to do skirting boards etc – but for a quick whip around it picks up crumbs and dog hairs and over rugs is very effective in picking up (more) dog hairs. I would recommend it – it is light enough for me to carry upstairs where we have wooden floors – and it is extremely easy to clean. Go for it!
I have had the original corded crosswave for a number of years and have bought many replacement filters and brushes but I am aware of it’s faults so after been given Amazon vouchers for Xmas I did my research and decided on the cordless crosswave max as after reading the comments seemed to address my issues with the original crosswave.
1. The integral hair debris catcher is definitely a winner, with 3 dogs shedding hair liberally I usually let the roomba do the hard work and then move onto the crosswave however when the roomba ran out of juice before finishing the kitchen I just went for it dog hairs and all and it did a fantastic job.
2. weight, whilst this is a lot heavier it works to its advantage, we have a slightly uneven wooden floor which the original struggles with but the cordless crosswave max is not daunted and cleans as well in the uneven area as the flat floor
3. The self cleaning brush when placed back on the charger was a revelation normally I would have to take the brush roll assembly to pieces and remove all the dog hair, whilst the cordless max had dog hair on the brush when placed in self cleaning mode it got sucked dramatically up the machine and into the waste water bucket and gathering on the new hair trap, amazing!
4. Just the fact it’s cordless is in itself a massive bonus
5. The edge cleaning, this is much much better than the original
6. I admit I am anal about floor cleaners of any type but with 3 dogs it’s an everyday necessity so to sum it up I love it!!
7. No reason to put off cleaning the floor now, being cordless makes cleaning a doddle, as I have a bad back fighting with the corded version just made me put off cleaning the floor.
Wish I’d got one years ago
The best help Cinderella could have ! My downstairs floors are predominantly stone and although practical with a dog, hard on the back to keep scrubbing. This machine is brilliant- does what it says, easy to use and so easy to clean. The only slight downside is that it’s a little heavier than I expected but it does swivel which is really helpful.
Ticks the boxes
I have a gym floor that is black rubber and gets dirty pretty easily as its winter. Tried hand cleaning, steam cleaning and hoovering all of which were not effective enough. Was just about to shell out 1,300 on an industrial cleaner then saw the CrossWave and gave it a go as a last resort. Hooves and washes at the same time and end result is more than acceptable so good value for money compared to an industrial cleane
Great cleane
Washes be and hoovers hard floors and rugs at the same time. The proof is in the gunk that’s in the waste tank. You also can can use any cleaner you want, I use flash. Great machine if you have a dirty dog.

Unfortunately motor blew up after 7 months use.
Cleans well, just not edges
Good suction, easily manoeuvred. Cleans most of floor beautifully, I have 2 dogs and it deals well with muddy paws etc. Easy to clean the machine, goes together easily too. Not so good for edges though. Will leave a margin around furniture and skirting boards. Have to move furniture every time and go round edges with another vacuum and a cloth. Would recommend having a spare brush and filter if you use your machine regularly to allow for washing and drying. Overall I like this machine though
Cleans well and saves time
I was worried this would be a waste of money but really glad I bought it. Takes a bit longer than just vacuuming but much, much quicker than mopping separately, and much easier if you have back pain. So far I’ve used it everyday instead of vacuuming and the floors are looking great. (Would normally only mop them every few days.)
As a vacuum it picks up better than our cordless Shark vacuum.
Only con I’ve found so far is that it doesn’t make it easy to separate the dirty water from other bits it’s picked up, which makes emptying and cleaning a bit tricky.
Also, I learned the hard way that you do need to follow the instructions and take out the brush roller after each use and leave it to dry or it will smell the next day.
Fantastic
Absolutely love this item. I have always cleaned my floors by hand so I know they are cleaned properly & not left with any dirty smelly mops or other. This product is clean & fast. You can feel the suction on the floor & see the dirty water in the tub on the back of the machine. I love the way you can stand this in its holder & just have the brush bar rotating to clean it after use (even though I do tend to still wash it after every use). The only reason for scoring a 4 would be that it doesn’t get right upto thd skirting boards. It leaves roughly 3/4inch uncleaned floor. However, due to it also acting as a hoover at the same time, you do know your floors are clean. I just nip round the missed areas with dettol floor wipes as it only takes a couple of minutes & with the time this product has initially saved me, then it’s no hardship. Would certainly recommend, its a must have.

One universal machine
Yes, they said it is for rugs and hard floor only. Yet, it did a great job on carpet.
Excellent Floor scrubber.
Excellent cleaner, easy to use and does not have a problem with pet hairs.
Great helpe
For wooden or tile floor and particularly carpet, you could spend 90% less time to clean your house than before.
Best mop eve
Doesn’t go right into edges but nothing you can’t get over. I’ve bought my daughter one too.
Excellent for what we wanted.
The cleaner is a replacement for a cheaper smaller item. I was really surprised at how much accumulated dirt was actually on our kitchen tiles (in the waste container).
Very pleased with our purchase overall.
Worth the money
Hi ! Got children or pets this be ideal for you on hard floors and carpet
It washes , suck up dirt and liquid in on unit
I found it easy to use just plug in and full the water bottle and you are ready for then messy floors
It drys as you hover so now more waiting around for it to dry

Change from hard floor to carpet with a touch of a button It so easy your child could use it
Light and easy to move as it cleans.
The roller is easy to clean and just leave it to dry in it holder ( best to dry near an window or over the draining board as the holder is small

Worth the money and there is a pay monthly payment account with no added interest rate added
Amazing, especially gud if u have a pet. .
I used it 4 my white tiled floor. The suction is just great & because it drys the floor aswell u dont have 2 wory about waiting 2 walk on it.

Floor has never been so clea
Bought this because I was fed up with my karndene floor never being really clean using a mop. Wish I’d bought one ages ago. It’s so easy to use and the results are excellent. Mop now in the bin for good!
Don’t often bother to review products but making an exception in this case. After being quoted 450 to restore our slate kitchen floor I decided to investigate an alternative and settled on this machine. The first one I ordered went missing (thanks Hermes). Amazon sent out a replacement which arrived the following day. Takes about 10 min to unpack and put together then it’s ready to use. Fill the water bottle to the line with warm water, add cleaning fluid ( a small bottle is supplied, would advise ordering a bigger one at the same time as the machine) snap it in and off you go. Two switches on the handle one for hard floors and one for carpet and a trigger underneath to dispense cleaning fluid. It was a bit like the first time I used a Dyson on what I thought was a clean carpet. I went over the floor several times over about three hours and it came up gleaming. This is a rough slate floor that has only had a weekly mop for about 20 years so it was embarasing. The floor was left very slightly damp and dried in about 15 min. Also used on hardwood and smooth tile floors with great results. Need to think about where to store it as the roller brush remains damp after use but a tray to stand it on is included. Dirty water goes into a separate tank which is easily removed for emptying and filter cleaning, just run under a tap. A float in the tank shuts off suction when the tank needs emptied you will think there is something wrong the first time it happens. A tank of fluid mix lasts about 20 min and is sufficient for a big area of smooth floor. I used about 1/2 a litre on my kitchen which is only about 10-12 m Sq. Won’t need that much next time though.
Great on slate floo

Easy to use but take time to remove hair twined on brush roll
Easy to manage not bulky but still a bit heavy to take it upstairs.
Enjoy vacuum and mopping in one go but the head can’t get deep underneath of cabinets, sofa, even bed due to the thickness of the machine body which is not in a pole size. You need a Dyson handheld machine for daily causal use.
Most annoying me is I need to spend 15-20mins every time to remove all long hair twined on the two ends and middle of the brush roll, another 10-15mins to wash the filters and containers
Original Bliss cleaner solution is only enough for cleaning living room. you just feel the floor is wet but was not wiped and cleaned. Must buy extra cleaner solution (other brand) together with your machine to enjoy the first trial. Need to refill once for covering an area of 3 bed house including kitchen, bathroom and utility room
A very loud sound will come out when the bottom container is full when you turn your handle either left and right side. It sounds scary and makes you feel there is something wrong with the machine.
All in all, happy purchase.
Excellent so pleased. love it.
Need to turn around so it does up to the edge. But very minor issue.
A great compact cleaner!
I think this hoover is great, we have shiny tiles in our kitchen and using a mop they’d end up covered in smeary footprints within half an hour, but this hoover makes the floor beautiful and shiny! We have a cat and toddler and it’s a must have item. It’s great on wet spills and foods, not so good if they have dried, though that’s to be expected. I’ve found it saves me so much time and effort. Definitely clean out the brush and dirty water tank as soon as you’re done as it makes cleaning it a lot easier and avoids any smells. Like another reviewer said, if you angle the handle so much it doesn’t suck very well e.g. if you’re trying to get under the table on the opposite side, and if you bump it into anything it loses suction and you have to turn it off and stand it upright to ‘reset’ it. Overall I’m really happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this product!

Glad I purchased
Glad I purchased this cleaner. Really pleased with it. Its lightweight. I have gone from carpets to wood flooring and its great that I do not have to sweep floors first and then wash because it does it all in one go. I am happy with purchase
Brilliant cleane
Excellent machine for hard floors, laminate, travertine and uneven slate Good for oriental carpets too. Really can’t fault it. Solution lasts for ages and cleans floors well leaving them streak free. Nice unobtrusive scent. Picks up dog hair with ease and easy to clean. Saves time and work.
Excellent product.
I wish someone told me earlier that this product exists We have 3 dogs and a grey floor, it does such a good job vacuuming all the hairs and washing the floor at the same time. Life saver!
Very good at hard floors. OK for carpets
Leaves our tiled floors clean and shiny. It’s very convenient that is vacuums, washes and dries all in one. A little expensive for what it is but it seems well made. It does a good job of spraying down cleaner on carpets but not such a good job of sucking up afterwards compared to our (very) old Vax carpet cleaner.
It does what Bissell say
Im so pleased with the Crosswave. My tiled floors are really clean, takes a little time using it to get used to holding the detergent trigger for spraying. This means I only need to dampen when needed or really wet if necessary. Used it to freshen 2 rugs today aswell.Brought up the pile and freshened them well.
Works like a dream
This machine has taken all the hard work & backache out of cleaning floors, a pleasure to this job now. It is so well at doing its job .with the powerful suction the floor is left nearly dry. wonderful machine a must for all floors, don’t delay order yours today.
It's okay - ish
I’m a 5′ tall, small build 50’s woman & I find this heavy. If you never cleaned your carpets before you’ll be amazed & disgusted. Ignore what they say about not needing to vacuum 1st unless you’re the only inhabitant & you live there naked. Vacuum or else you’ll end up with lots of fluff mixed in with sludge in your receiver receptacle. Ive cleaned my carpet twice in 3 days & its just starting to improve but not there yet.
Lots of cleaning of it to do after too.I still think its better than Vax though, seems more powerful.
Very impressed
I have tiles & karndean flooring. Wasn’t aware of how dirty they had become using a standard mop until I wiped up a spillage with a cloth & could see the tile become a lighter colour . This product is excellent and has restored the tiles to their original colour.
Great product! Bought to replace a Vax hard floor cleaner that was much heavier with separate scrubbing brushes (one stopped working after 1 week). This cleaner is easier to use, works better, is FAR quicker and comes with a drip stand. Would have been good to have a replacement roller brush for the price but it’s so much better to use I’m not going to deduct for that small thing. Thank you Bissell! You have made cleaning my large floor much less of a chore – also mean I spend less time brushing it first as this does both suction and cleaning.
Answer to my prayers
This machine is the answer to all my prayers. Our floors are subject to very heavy traffic from a mobility scooter. To keep our LVT flooring clean was proving an impossible task and really frustrating until I took a chance and purchased the bissell crosswave. From the first use you could see the floors were cleaner than they had been in months, and the best thing is no hoovering before hand. Half the work and twice the job!! Even used it on the landing carpet with superb results. Would recommend to anyone, well worth purchasing.
Great on all floors
Bought this as we have a lot of hard flooring plus a dog who loves muddy puddles! Easy to use and works well, like that you can use on carpet too
Awesome cleaning
Ok so I have wood laminate, faux grass, door mat, carpets. Yes my grass is indoors! But this little beauty works on all. My only gripe is my long hair which still wraps around the roller but once you spin it, it can be cut away with nail scissors
Best item I've purchased in a long time!!
I’m absolutely amazed at this machine!!
I have hard floors and short pile carpet and it washes both , the dirt that comes out is stunning, water is black and I hoover and mop every day !!
Was a bit confused when to press the trigger but lots of lovely amazon customers answered my query.
It’s quick to put together too !
Would definitely recommend!!
This is INSANE!
I am a childminder so it is incredibly important for my hard floors to be clean. Even though we remove our shoes at the door, endless mopping didn’t quite cut it. Found this beauty on prime day and threw caution to the wind and I couldn’t be happier. No longer a bore chore, now an obsession, not only does it wash, dry, it hoovers too! Pure brilliance. I did the floor wipe test, rubbed a patch and only a faint mark on the cloth. The only terrifing thing is the gunk that came out the waste tank after! If you have hard floors you NEED this Bissell. 100%
Really excellent choice
I wish I had bought this 2 years ago it’s wonderful does a really good job far superior to the 3 karcher s I have had in this time, don’t know why I went ahead and purchased the second karcher after the first one broke and they replaced after a dispute, then I got another so 3 in 2 years tells the story. Any marks on the floor come of a doddle with the Bissell where as a karcher you may go over it 3 times and that’s just a tea or coffee spill easier to get a cloth actually
The only negative is it doesn’t go to the edge it’s about a inch away but I do the edges with a cloth and my skirting boards at the same time so that’s no problem to me, other wise fabulous little machine.
Worth to money
Choose between pet pro and this. Because of the weight of pet pro 8.8kg itself. I have pick this lighter weight in 5.5kg and I believe I made the right choice.
I used on both carpet and hard floor. Every time I got disgusting dirty water with hair and dust in the tank. Means it does a good job on picking up tiny dirts on the floor/carpet. Working result overall is good
It’s a noisy item when it’s working. Avoid to operate at night or baby’s nap time.
Excelle
I thought about this a while before purchase. My dog is elderly with all the problems that entails. Anyway the day it arrived I had it put together in minutes. I cleaned all my hard floors and the stained areas of my carpet. It removed old dried stains and freshened everything. Taking the areas apart was straight forward. The filter, brush cover and and dirty tank were easily rinsed. The filter came apart and I ran plenty of fresh water through it to clean it. I have had dirty water tanks for carpet cleaners so stupidly shaped that all they did was collect dirt in the corners. The tank on this was small but very easy to clean. The brush easily came off and was rinsed. There is a system where you pour water on the tray provided and run the machine. This will obviously will rinse through the inside tubes. Fluff and gritty dirt from the carpet is collected in the dirty water tank. When emptying ensure you have a strainer in the sink plug hole, or it would all go down the drain. I wouldn’t say it would replace a vacuum cleaner. When the instructions say rugs they mean carpets. Rugs just get sucked up. Would recommend.

Please don't choose anything else!!
This is my third attempt to become friends with a hard floor cleaner. I have tried two others and sent both back. One begins with V and has three letters, the other begins with K and also does power washers. Both had great reviews but I should have known to choose an item that is manufactured by a company that ONLY makes cleaners.
This is a robust and easy to use piece of equipment and it worked beautifully on my floors. I have a vinyl/Karndean type floor and it worked wonders. The problems I have had with other hard floor cleaners were leaking dirty water, rollers not spinning, rollers getting dirty and not cleaning effectively and poor build quality. Trust me…this one will not disappoint. The roller has soft and hard bristles so it lifts dirt easily. I clean my floor every day as I have two dogs and bifold doors so it’s always dirty. I cleaned it yesterday with the ‘K’ cleaner. Today I used the Bissell for the first time and the dirty water container contains water I would not like to photograph! Delighted… I now have a new friend.
This cleaner is so nearly perfect for our needs. As the advertising says, it has both clean and dirty water tanks and also vacuums up bits on the floor, so no need to vacuum before cleaning, unless you have a large amount of litter on the floor.
We’ve been amazed at the amount of dirty water it collects and the amount of dog hair contained therein from our two Labradoodles, who DO shed (that’s the trouble with steam cleaners, as far as i’m concerned, they put water on the floor and leave it there so the dirt doesn’t really get picked up).
It’s also great not to have to kneel on the floor to give it a good scrub by hand (which is what i’d previously resorted to)
Downsides: As previous reviews state, it doesn’t clean right up to the cupboard plinths, so you really need to wipe the last inch/couple of inches with a cloth. Also, we have tiles that aren’t smooth, sort of a stone effect, which tend to collect dirt in little corners. Whilst the cleaner does a good job of keeping them clean it doesn’t get into all the little spaces, so i had to scrub every inch of floor before starting to use the cleaner for the first time. Once I’d done that, it’s doing a pretty good job of stopping any more pockets of dirt forming
Impressed
Ordered this after my sister bought one. I love it! We have dogs and are an outdoor family so there is always mud and dirt to clean. Our new favourite thing to do is send each other pictures of the dirty water! Very impressed and it’s very easy to clean all the elements
Jack of all floors and the master of none?
Comes almost assembled with just a few things to pop together. Also comes with the stand which is not mentioned anywhere ( see the battery powered version to see what the stand is like ). All in all seem very well made.
The liquid containers are pretty small so honestly I would not advise it for hoovering carpets, but it is just fine for cleaning hard floors. It doesn’t use a lot of cleaning fluid in one pass so don’t expect to get your floors pristine in one go, it takes a few attempts at first to get them shining. Having said that, the floors looked great after just one pass. I suppose it could be supplemented with an old spray bottle filled with cleaner for spot application if you need that extra oomph.
I love the way it hoovers up the odd bits on the floor while you are washing it! A mop won’t do that.
The dirty water collector needs to be pulled apart and cleaned each time, but that’s no big deal. I managed to do the entire house with one charge of cleaner and one emptying of the dirty water tank.
It also happily sucks up pet hair, thankfully.
It’s not very loud but it is fairly high pitched which makes its sound reasonably uncomfortable.
I tried it on a fairly rough slate floor too, and it worked great.
A traditional mop is far better for dealing with a really dirty floor. Come to think of it a standard hoover is better at vacuuming too….and a dedicated carpet cleaner is better at cleaning carpets as well. I guess at the end of the day this is for daily cleaning, not for when you have a disaster or need to really do a spring clean.
Anyway, I have no problem recommending one. They are great.
Time save
So much time saved not having to vacuum first, then getting the mop and bucket out. the Bissel 3 in 1 does all this in one. I can’t see myself without this machine. Only negative for me is the border of about 2 cm around the skirting boards that the brush does not reach but well worth the money.
Brilliant.
Bought this to replace our steam mop, which there was nothing particularly wrong with. However I wanted something that sucked off the floor as a majority of the house is timber and tiled floors.I looked at a competitors version first, but the reviews made remarks to how small the elements that hold the water, clear or dirty are. This one stood out. Had it 4 weeks, and I must say, superb! Great suction. Brilliant on hard floors. Can do rugs and carpets as well. I have used on our rug and it was very good. I own a rug doctor as well, and the rug doctor is much better for that type work in my opinion. For hard floors tho. This is brilliant. I would highly recommend.
Does the job well
As with all non slip lino type plastic our large kitchen floor was a blighter to keep clean, not helped by our small dog’s dirty feet. The floor installer advised us not to use a steam cleaner as it could damage the surface. The only way to keep it looking smart was by scrubbing the floor once a week on hands and knees. A tedious job. We have found the new Bissell Crosswave easy to use and it does a brilliant job of cleaning the floor without hard work. I can fully recommend it.
hardfloor cleane
we got this cleaner to clean tiles and laminate floors, but its so good we have used it on carpets and rugs too. it is so easy to use, my wife is in love with it. and being so easy to use we clean the floors more often.
Great machine for large areas of hard floo
We have recently moved into a house with hard flooring throughout the kitchen and downstairs. This was an essential buy to keep the floors clean. Easy to use, easy to manoeuvre and very effective. My floors had there first clean today (once all the boxes had gone) and I knew the floors were dirty, but the amount of dirt it picked up was incredible!
Will shock you how dirty your floors really are
We got this cleaner because although our stone flooring looked clean it weren’t sure how clean it really was. We Hoover every week and run a vax steam cleaner over it every fortnight.
The cleaner comes almost fully assembled, you only need to click the handle in. No tools required for assembly.
Upon first clean we were firstly amazed at how dirty the water collected was and secondly shocked that we had been living with such dirty floors for so long.
We’ve only used it once but plan on cleaning every week until the collected water begins being less filthy.
Overall I’m super impressed at how well this cleans and would recommend it to anyone with hard flooring.
