This thing is an absolute weapon. People aren’t joking when they say how often you need to empty the waste out.
I bought this a few months ago and finally got round to using it on a fairly sunny day in my front garden.
A word of warning, if your attitude is “green at all costs” and your lawn has a high percentage of moss, stay away because this thing will leave you with brown patches all over. Which is a good thing in the context of its purpose.

This thing has been borrowed by two friends already and I’m now desperate to get it back so that I can tear up my back garden. Ooh err.

If you think you need it, buy it. If you aren’t sure, buy it. If you dont have a lawn, buy it and lend it to people who do. I feel very strongly that everyone needs one of these. Buy it.

    Very efficient Lawnrake
I bought this lawnraker to scarify my lawn. Overall I am very pleased with it. It picked up lots of moss very efficiently. The grass box could do with being bigger. There were lots of toings and froings to the green compost bin. Also, when assembling the handle I had to have several attempts at getting in one of the screws. Having said that,I am very happy with the lawnraker.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA must have for gardeners
I have a 60ft garden and never bother raking or thatching but decided to give it a go as I need to put down grass seed and WOW. I had cut the lawn a week ago but after raking it with the B&D, I filled 2 wheelie bins. I was very surprised and was left wondering why I had not done this all theses years.

The product is light & simple to use with 3 settings. I would have given it a 5* but the only slight issue I have is that the collection tray is not the best design and it requires emptying before it is full but other than that, I am a novice gardener but would highly recommend this produc

Its pretty good and very happy with it. Its amazing to see so much debris and dead grass come out. Its not perfect as it doesn’t get all of it but a very acceptable amount. Only downside is that the grass falls back from the basket back all over the floor when u left it to empty. But would recommend it yes.

Very useful - recommended for a small law
This machine is just right for my 160m2 lawn. The collection basket fills up very quickly and has to be emptied with almost every pass, but for the price paid and the amount of times it has to be used each year, this is a small problem. I found the assembly instructions difficult to say the least and they made it seem much more complicated than it was. I had greater success using an assembly clip found on YouTube

I had a massive moss problem with my lawn, but no longer … this lawn raker is a beast! It dealt with the whole of my lawn, about 40 x 20 metres, no problem at all. I went over the whole area a couple of times just to be sure and even on round 2 it was finding more and more moss to pull out. Very little grass came along with it which was impressive. The lawn looked frighteningly bare afterwards, but I needn’t have worried, the grass has grown back now, much stronger than before. Lightweight and easy to use, I would certainly recommend this lawn raker. Just make sure you have plenty of big bags to put the moss in, you’ll need them!

    Top Machine For Lockdow
Thanks to lockdown, we’ve actually started taking an interest in our garden after 20 years of neglect – this machine is amazing – bags and bags and bags of moss later, and fast forward 2 weeks, and the lawn is looking positively lush – who knew!

Great for a small to mid-size garden.
Bought this to use as a scarifyer. It picked up an entire wheelie bin of crap and 4 weeks later the main lawn is doing OK but the dead bits on the end are really sprouting and overall it is definitely growing much quicker and lusher. Initially, the basket was a pain as it falls off too easily but once and you start you realise how many times you may need to empty it, it is obvious why!

This is my favourite purchase ever! I had so much moss & thatch, which I tried to scarify manually but put my back out and didn’t even scratch the surface. Then this scarifier comes along and absolutely gets everything up so easily. I scarified the lawn on 22 May, today 2 July the grass is coming back thick and lush. See photos, some small patches here & there but this is the best the lawn has looked in years, once a year this will make my life so much easier!

I hadn’t raked my back lawn for years, and you wouldn’t believe the amount of moss and dead grass this picked up. It filled my green bin! It’s amazing how much of that stuff is in the lawn.

This is so easy to use. Other reviews talk about the basket being too small, yes it needs emptying regularly but no problem to do that.
I have ‘raked’ and scarified the lawn, unbelievably easy. It fits in the shed easily as it is small and easy to lift in and out.
Lead is quite long, I still need to use an extension lead but you wouldn’t if you had a small garden.

Great scarifying and raking machine. Easy to assemble and use. My lawn had quite a lot of moss in it (so I thought). When used the machine, the amount tripled!! Clears the lawn of moss and weeds very well, allowing the lawn to recover. I have used all in one lawn feed following the process, so hoping to achieve a healthy green lawn. It is pricey but if you’re a perfectionist like me, you’ll be delighted you bought it after the first use.

Updated version of a lawn rake that’s been around for ages . Much better handle and gets out loads of dead moss and grass etc. Really only suitable for a small medium size lawn. Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersStrangely Addictive. Significant Lawn Improvement. Excellent Value for Money
We bought this at the start of lockdown as part of our plan to work on the garden (as I’m sure many others also did). At the time we would have preferred to buy the Bosch one which is very well rated, but unfortunately at the time was either out of stock, or where available the price had been increased well above the average so we opted for this one which came up well rated as a “budget raker”.

Own lawn hasn’t been scarified in the two years since we moved in, and from the looks of it probably never done by the previous owners either.

The machine arrived and was very quick to assemble and figure out how to operate. We put it on and immediately the basket started to fill-up very quickly. I’d read a tip to remove the basket and scarify, and then go over with a mower later to clean up. This didn’t work out for me because without the basket the cuttings were flying and blowing all over the place. I preferred put the basket back on and found that I didn’t mind emptying the basket every so often – whilst slightly inconvenient it also means you’re not pushing around mountains of thatch and moss.

The first time, I had to stop using it because the garden waste bin got completely full – even though I’d read other reviews I was shocked at how much thatch and moss came out! After that we overseeded and applied some lawn feed. A few weeks later we did it again (without lawn feed). This has resulted in our lawn looking the best we’ve ever seen it. Minimal moss/weeds, very green grass, growing evenly and healthy. We aim to repeat this again in autumn and hopefully each time the lawn will become even better.

This scarifier/raker is well worth the money. We’ve not used it as just a rake yet, but I’m sure it’ll make life a lot easier when we do. It did everything we needed it to with ease. As something that will only be getting occasional use, I hope it lasts but obviously it’s too soon to tell. It coped with the first pass without issue, and that was hopefully the hardest shift it’s going to have to put in.

By no means do I know much about gardening, only whatever we picked up from videos and reading during the lockdown but overall it’s been very easy and given us a very pleasant lawn.

Cheapest and does the trick great plus the warranty makes it a no braine
Fantastic value. It’s done the trick on my lawn which now looks like a golf course. You need to treat your lawn two weeks minimum before scarifying and the overseed later on to reap the benefits. I’ve usually rented in the past the best commercial options but this has done the job just as well with as much ease. I suggest not bother with the collection basket. Just cut your crass, scarify then go over again with lawnmower to just hoover up the most, dead thatch etc. Easy peasy! Wouldn’t dream of paying more for one now even though I had initially gravitated to the bosch which is more than double the price. Again you use this machine one a year MAX. So think this is a no brainer, highly recommend.

Brilliant and addictive! So easy to use and very lightweight. It strips the moss really quickly so when you first get it youll need a garden bin close by to keep emptying the holder. I’ve lent it to other family members who are reluctant to give it back!

Really effective for small - medium lawns
This has been really effective in removing vasty quantities of thatch, old moss, weeds etc from my lawn. Other reviews warned that the bag does fill quickly so needs to be emptied a lot and this is definitely the case. So if you have a large lawn I would suggest spending a bit more for one with a larger capacity but this is ideal for my needs. Make sure your green bin is empty when you start though, you’ll be amazed how much stuff this removes if you haven’t owned one before!

Exceeds expectations but bin is too small
A pleasant surprise that this little entry-level electric raker does a great job. I only use it on a dry pre-mown lawn to maximise its performance but we have a large lawn on a half acre plot and this electric raker is all I need to cover the lawn in fairly short order. I only recently purchased this so can’t confirm longevity. The only criticism is that the front bin is a little small and fills with moss every other stripe of the lawn. Possibly just because my lawn has a lot of moss, but it could do with having a bigger bin in my view, hence 4 stars.

A very handy garden rake, i had a large amount of moss and debris to take off my lawn, a hand rake job would have been back breaking.

I ordered this and it did as I expected,it made short work of lifting off the dead moss and thatch, considerably more than my garden bin holds!

I found the collection box was no good for the volume of deris collected, however I knew this would be the case, so I raked the lawn methodically and it piled up at the and of the lawn, which I could easily collect up. The remaining debris was quickly hovered up with the lawnmower,, The collection box is ideal if you rake the lawn regularly, I will be from now!

I’ve now re-seeded my patchy lawn, waiting on the results.

A good bit of kit for the money.

Great machine that has saved my back!
I needed this machine to scarify a 170 sq metre lawn which at some points 90% was moss. I started with a manual rake and could only a small area per day. I got this raker within two days. It took an afternoon and the following morning to complete the lawn. The main reason was because the moss was so thick that I had to empty the catcher so often. I ended up filling 7 large black bin bags.
The only problem was that the machine was making a loud noise at one point so I went up to the second setting then had to go back over it with the lowest setting. It was really thick though. I did realise on the second half that you need to go over tough spots a few times to really pick the moss up. Not sure how it will fare long term as I’ve only used it once and I will use it for leaves in the autumn but It’s been great so far.

For the money performs really well. We have a medium garden and more than up to the job for the couple of times a year it will be used . Really pulls itself along with plenty of power, and amazing what what it pulls out. To do the same with a rake by hand would take all day

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersIf you have a mountain of moss in your lawn then definitely buy this!
Was sceptical about buying this but on first use was very pleased I did! I first used it on the highest setting and was amazed by how much moss it got out of my grass. I then done a 2nd pass on setting 2 and got even more out. Setting 3 (lowest setting) got even more moss out of the lawn. I now realise that majority of my lawn was moss! It has saved me hours of back breaking raking! Worth every penny spent on it. You have to realise that this is only the start of having a nice lawn! It has left my lawn very patchy but this is the first step to a half decent lawn! It is not for the feint hearted expecting to see a perfect lawn straight away! I’ve now purchased a Miracle-Gro patch repair box to see if that restores the lawn.
Photo is after many passes in 90 angles starting on highest setting and finishing on lowest setting

My lawn has been destroyed by moss so I set it on the deepest setting and off I went. Wow did it shift the moss!!!
The only issue was that the collector on the front was absolutely useless as you have to empty it every 12 feet, so I used John Murphy’s tip and disconnected it and let the moss shoot out in front then followed up with the lawn mower to collect it all.
I reckon I’ve saved myself quite a few hours work and a broken back – so money already well spent.

Great for the price. Small lawn scarifier but pulled a shocking amount of thatch and moss out of garden that didn’t look overly bad, I knew it was full of moss but this lifted two tonne bags of thatch and moss after about three hours of work. Easy to build and use, adjustable settings and you just move it back and forward to pull out the thatch. Takes a bit of getting use to and definitely some effort so not easy physically but not complex to learn and certainly 10x easier than manual king raking. The only thing is like other reviews I’d say the basket is pointless. We just scarified without it and raked at the end by hand as it rakes very easily when done with this first. Definitely wait until a dry day but well worth the money and will be easier to keep on top of now.

Received this product by next day delivery. All intact. Instructions easy to follow and quicklybassembled. Heeded others advice and waited til.grass completely dry before using and was amazed at how good it is. The catcher basket filled up quickly though as a result and needed to be emptied frequently but that is not a problem. Noticed that some areas of very short moss not cleared and had to do those by hand in the end but this was a minor issue and would not stop me from recommending product.
The catcher basket does prevent you getting right up to any upright edges which was a wee bit frustrating.
For deep scarify on lowest setting on my neglected grass, it worked best by going over all areas 4 times in total, turning 90 degrees each time to change direction of sweep. Advice from other gardeners was also to apply feed and weed treatment a week or so before scarifying too which would have made it easier to pull out the dead moss and weed debris. Lawn looks great already. Would recommend. Great value and light/easy and quick little machine.

I live in Northern England, clay soil, unkempt lawn full of moss. My self my isolation ambition to invest time in my lawn brought me to purchase this.

    Previously half-heartedly manually scarified.

This was easy to assemble, I put it straight on setting 1 (max scarify), plugged it in and within 15 seconds had a bag full of moss. Unbelievable, the greatest labour saving device I’ve ever bought. After an hour I’d filled 2 big bins full of moss and thatch.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBeautiful Simple desig
Having used the same electric rake for the last 21 years I needed a new one when the main bearing disintegrated and was not available as a spare part). The GD300 was on offer at Amazon Warehouse so I duly ordered it despite there being several bad reviews. It was extremely easy to assemble needing just a cross-head screwdriver for two screws. There is quite a reasonable length of power cable and the collection container is a beautifully simple design to attach to the rake body. Unfortunately the rake proved to be defective when I first tried to use it since the rotor holding the tines was not rotating although the electric motor was obviously working correctly. Rather than return it to Amazon I decided to investigate the problem further and, to my surprise, on opening the gear casing (just four screws) I found that it had been assembled without the necessary Woodruff key to lock the rotor gear to the rotor shaft. Since this part is not available as a spare I fabricated a suitable key and re-assembled the rake.
With the rake now functional I proceeded to start raking my lawn on the lowest setting and I was greatly impressed with the performance and ease of use. The collection of raked debris was excellent and, unlike my old rake, the direction of rotation of the tines definitely aided the forward motion of the GD300 making the raking process much easier. One issue became apparent after a short while when the collection of debris became suspect and large clumps of debris were being left on the lawn. This proved to be a build up of mud on the casing behind the tine roller. Once cleared the debris collection was back to its previous best.
Overall I like the simplicity of the design with no metal parts (other than the motor and gearbox) to rust or corrode and I also like the impressive raking performance from the 600W motor.

Cheap and reliable but the collector is way too small for anything but a tiny garde
Nice and simple to use, not the simplest but not the worst assembly, I would prefer metal spring tube connectors as that would make it easy for adjustable heights (I guess that’s more a product development feedback).

The use is easy with different height setting on a dial that is easy to change. The collector is easy to attatch/detach but a bit on the small side. My front lawn is small (maybe 2 small cars size), this takes multiple squashing and emptying trips to the compost pile and it’s not even a poor quality lawn as it is in sunlight all day. It’s just down to the fact it’s a small front situated, open collector. When it fills up which is pretty quick, you need to squash it down or empty otherwise it falls back out and the brush has to throw it back in which inevitably goes anywhere but the collector.
When I get to my rear lawn (again not massive but a good size) as there is part shaded areas, it works well, it gets up most of the moss and debris I don’t want easily but at a painstakingly slow pace as it is full after 1 run back and forth.

It will do for now but when it has had it’s time and goes to the toolpile in the sky, I will invest (and I know you get what you pay for) in a product with a larger rear situated collector.

I used this Lawn raker on my big front lawn for the first time. It performed well, certainly better than my having to rake all the leaves off! Easy to dump the leaves in the green bin.

    Worth the money
I was so shocked to see how much grass this little machine collects it really is well worth the buy. Very light weight and easy to assemble.

    A little gem
I have never scarified a lawn before and wondered whether this little gem would do the job. It not only pulled out the weeds, but raked like nothing had been raked before.
The grass has never been so green and the neighbours think I’m a qualified gardener. Thank you for such an amazing machine.

    Rake it in!
As it’s been a very wet Autumn I haven’t used it much. However when it has been dry enough I’ve found it excellent and a very effective lawn rake. Great for the price.

    Say goodbye to moss!
Why are you reading this review? We both know why you’re here. You love your garden (as I do), you care for it, feed it and take out those pesky weeds. Now it’s Autumn or Spring and you want to de-moss that bad boy before your friends come round and comment on your grass – to which you say “Oh – that old thing” knowing you’ve spent hours caring for it.

This product is great. Easy to use, simple to setup and super satisfying how much it brings up from seemingly nice grass. Be sure to start at the highest setting first then work down. Chuck down a load of feed and weed then sit eback.

Pleased with this purchase, have recently completed the autumn scarifying if it lasts the 10 years the previous B&Decker scarifyer did I will be delighted.

This performed much better than I was expecting, the only negative i’d have and where it loses one star is the same as commented by others about the collector being too small and needing emptying too frequently.

For very lightweight machine this did a really good job. Bought on a deal so very cheap. Lawn now re- seeded and looks amazing. Great for the more elderly Gardner.

    Excellent Choice
Pros: The third party seller (Howe Tools) was 11 cheaper than Prime and delivered the very next day at no charge.
It works brilliantly. Lifts the grass leaves upright; picks up the acorns and does exactly what I need.

Cons: The accompanying assembly instructions from Black & Decker are a bad joke. Nothing is described or labelled, just drawn and numbered (why?) and there are parts you have NO idea what to do with. There is a lot of guesswork involved, but I seem to have done it right.
The ‘grass’ box, of necessity is small so it fills in seconds of use and needs emptying very frequently indeed.

Conclusion: The seller was superb. Excellent Value and I am delighted with them and the product.

    Rake away
Great item. But taken one star off because it doesn’t go right up to the edge of my lawn like a lawnmower does. Tried racking it without the box on like some people suggested because it fills up so quick but I had grass going everywhere and took a lot of time cleaning up. Otherwise good item

    Great for small gardens
Very easy to put together…and I’m not the most patient at these things. Great for small gardens….it has 3 settings for the height of cutting. I set it on the middle on and it had the advantage of raking without scraping. The only downside is the basket collects very quickly so if you have a larger garden you are forever emptying it….you may decide to use it without the collection basket and rake it off afterwards.

Bargain! Does exactly what it should
Used for getting rid of a ton of moss from the garden. Only downside was that it picked up so much moss there was no room in my bin for it all. It is quite loud as well, ears were ringing a bit after prolonged use and like most others have said the collection basket needs emptied constantly. All that said it’s a great machine for the price, saved me a lot of back breaking manual raking so i would definitely buy agai

Wrong plug for germany, but correct for great britai
I ordered the lawn racer in great britain and wan’t to use it in germany. But the plug is not the correct one. So I cut it off and take a german (europe) plug on it. There are only two wires on the lawn racer. No earth wire. I’m a little bit wondered.
after the adjustment it works fine. Good is the basket in the front of the device.

    Fantastic Garden lawn essential
If you are looking at purchasing this item its a must. I usually don’t write reviews but this definitely deserves one.
After spending years raking my lawn and giving myself blisters. This year I decided to invest in a lawn raker. I am not disappointed. After reading other reviews I thought I would give it a go.It arrived very quickly and was very easy to assemble. Being a women I was nervous I wouldn’t be able to put it together or get on with it. But It was fine. Very very easy to use light weight and does a fanatic job of the lawn. It has 3 levels which is great and small enough to store away in garage. would I recommend you buy this product. A definite 10/10 in my eyes. The price is very good to.
Looking forward to some rain and seeing how my lawn looks in a few weeks.

Makes the same noise as a much cheaper one that stopped working. Either the other one was a cheap knock off of this B & D machine, or this one is an expensive (with a more powerful motor) knock off of the cheaper one. Easy to use. Grass box needs emptying every 5 seconds. Noisy

Black & Decker should speak to me as l use it on my artificial lawn, its very good but needs one or two adjustments and l can tell them what to do, done properly it would be worth a fortune, ask Black & Decker to come back to me as everyone with an artificial lawn should have one.

When I think of all the time I spent each year taking moss out of the lawn I do wish I had been aware of the Black and Decker Lawn Raker. Not only would it have been so much quicker but does a far better job.
    Well worth the investment.
Shame it took me until my 70th year to discover it. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersLightweight and efficie
This lightweight lawn raker was bought to drag out the accumulated thatch in my sloping lawn. It works really well, lifting an amazing amount of unwanted moss and accumulated dead grass. The collection bag which can be fitted to the front of the raker fills very quickly and i found it quicker to leave it off and use the lawnmower afterwards to pick up all the stuff that had been lifted out of the lawn. It’s easy to use with three height adjustments and does the job well. I knocked off one star in the rating because assembling it proved a bit difficult due to the cable which runs from the handle to the machine itself. The diagram in the instructions shows it loosely hanging between the switch and the machine when the assembly was complete but in reality it was so short that it was hardly long enough to stretch between the two, hence the struggle. Otherwise a cracking little machine.

    A powerful lawn rake
Having had an “older style” lawn rake of the same manufacturing company I prejudged this model, how wrong I was. I have a fairly large lawn, 60 x 50 ft, and this machine removed 17 large black bags of moss and detritus with ease. It was worked continuously and never faltered once, Impressed? most definitely. It’s an easy to use machine, easily adjusted height/depth control, lightweight and virtually pulls its self along. A great little work horse from a great stable.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersUnlike the Rolling Stones, I got my satisfactio
Now Tom Jones tells us it not unusual to be in love with anyone, but boy am I in love with this beauty. My lawn was looking tied and unloved, a bit like myself really!

So I gave the lawn the usual scalping with the mower. Being of ‘middle age’ I know that taking too much off now a days, its unlike to grow back or if it does it wont be of the same vigour and lustfulness. So with caution and trepidation I started on the highest setting and gave the dog eared piece of land I call a lawn a once over.

Well never has so much satisfaction came of seeing all manner of detritus and thatch striped out and caught nicely and neatly in the collection bag.

Well, with wind returning to my sails after years of being in the doldrums I threw caution aside and and set the machine to DEFCON 2.

Let me paint a picture – Edward Scissorhands on acid. Piles and piles of moss, old grass cuttings and dead vegetation was extracted and filled 4 big green bags.

Having drank deeply and enthusiastically out of the cup of Bacchus, I know my limits.

It is yet to be seen how the lawn will recover but I still have the nuclear option of engaging the lowest setting and give the lawn a jolly good thrashing.

Best piece of kit I’ve ever used in the garden, I wonder if Black & Decker do anything for the bedroom

Been borrowing my dad’s ancient one for years with a broken box so using this was a breeze. Got soooo much moss etc out on lowest setting.

    Saves the back breaking
Bought this after trying to hand rake the back garden to rid it of moss. Easily assembled, (and dismantled) and what a difference it made. I knew I had plenty moss in the garden but within no time at all, this had filled up two very large backs of the stuff (more than I thought was there). Have only used it once, due to time and weather, but will be back out to finish off when/IF the sun ever shines again.
One down side, as previous reviewers have mentioned, the collection box is way too small and fills up in no time at all. Not sure how they would get round this problem as it is probably in proportion with the size of the machine, but definitely could be doing with a box twice the size of the current one.

Would DEFINITELY recommend though if you have a largish garden.

  84. Erin Thorburn says:

    Is larger than I thought.
Guidance was clear on assembly. No special tools required. Instructions on how to operate clear, including tips on when to use and the selection of heights for the raker. Like the “hook” on the handle bar, used to hold up the cable away from the “machine” so you can readily have the cable falling behind you as walk with the raker on the grass.

Bought this because I knew the name was a quality make I have not been disappointed it’s lightweight easy to use really gets thatch out of the lawn very powerful and I have only ever used the lowest setting the grass box probably lets it down a little being so small you have to empty it constantly that aside though I am very impressed since using it it does a really good job of removing dead grass and thatch from my lawn would definitely recommend this produc

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat purchase - get one today
What a fantastic piece of kit! After raking moss on the lawn for an hour, not making any progress we decided life is too short and ordered this on prime. Tried it the next day and are now wondering why we didn’t buy one years ago. The results are fantastic. Easy to set up and handle and very light weight. The 3 settings are perfect for different levels of moss and thatch. We used level 2 at first but then changed to level 3 to get right down to the bottom of the lawn as it was very mossy. The basket fills up in no time if there is lots of moss and thatch so it is advisable to have a green bin or something at the side of the lawn to be able to empty easily. We even removed the basket to get into tight corners and raked the results up manually.
The lawn has now been cleared completely of moss and been re-seeded so hopefully we’ll see results in a few weeks. The machine will also be super useful for autumn lawn care. Very satisfied with it!

    Amazing little machine.
I’ve bought this model twice now, having bought a bigger, more expensive machine in between and the bigger one from a different maker was such a let down. Was actually pleased when my old one stopped working so I could purchase this one again. I don’t use the collecting tray which in a bigger garden is way too much work constantly emptying. I find just raking it all into a pile afterwards much less work.
    It does what it says!

Brilliant machine, don’t hesitate if considering one of these!!

I spent hours a few weekends ago manually scarifying our lawn, then found this on Amazon and dd the job again last night, wow, absolutely amazed at how much this thing collects, literally filled our green bin with dead moss and thatch. I did the worst of the garden on the lowest setting and the rest on the medium setting. The low setting is very aggressive!!

Although the lawn currently looks a bit of a state, with aeration, reseeding to fill in the bare patches, water and a bit of sun, the lawn will recover quite quickly..

    Go for it!

    great buy
A scarifier (lawn rake) that cost me less than hring one for a day. It was very easy to put together and works very well. There are three settings. It probably doesn’t rake down into the soil quite as much as a petrol scarifier, but it was exactly what I needed after chafer grubs had decimated my lawn. It has got the dead grass out really easily and removed most of the moss. I recommend it.

I like that it is lightweight but the best part is the collection box. I previously borrowed a relative’s machine without a box and it was such a pain having to pick the moss up manually. Therefore I thoroughly recommend this product.

I bought this scarifier to replace a really old model and am pleased by how well it does the job despite being much lighter than my old one. Also like the choice of rake height. Self assembly was pretty simple, although a couple of the screws didn’t fit quite flush.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Userseat little machine
Having moved to a property with a very mossy lawn, I thought I would buy this to save my back. Lets face it – it would have taken ages to remove all the thatch and moss from about 3/4 of what I thought was a nice green grass lawn. Nope it was mostly moss. This little machine is awesome, took it all out and down to bare ground. my only problem was getting rid of the moss it took off – about 6 black bin liners on the first go and about 3 after that (took that all down to recycling). After a second reseeding with grass seed ( pigeons descended on mass and ate the lot on the first attempt to regrow the lawn) the grass is starting to grow and looking good.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from an electric rake however I have been very surprised at how effective it is. The lawn rake is very easy to assemble (10 mins) and I was ready to go, I bought it primarily to remove moss and being brave or stupid I went straight for the lowest setting. The rake is amazing almost working too well. The only minor comment is that the basket for catching the moss fills very rapidly however it is a small price to pay for such a good job.

This thing is amazing. It might look small but it can certainly do its job and i was very impressed.

Only thing to comment (as everyone else has mentioned) is that the bag is small and you will be forever emptying it . (and i mean forever)

Also and it seemed that i could have gone on forever and it would have picked up more and more and more and i wasnt sure when to stop, but thats a user thing and not a comment on the machine itself.
