Blagdon 3500 midipond pump
The pump runs a water feature and fountain. Very pleased with the power have had to throttle it back to get the desired flow which is exactly what I was hoping for. The pump is well made and a good design with plenty of extras to give different water jets and variable heights. Overall very pleased.
Pipe fittings
I have had blagdon pumps before and whilst I find them very efficient and do exactly what it says on the tin, this one does have one issue which the manufacturers may want to look into. This pump comes with 3 adaptors, which take the water from the pump, though a pipe to the filter box. The middle adaptor size which should fit the inch pipe, is slightly too big, so the pipe doesn’t fit. The only way I could get round this was to use the fitting from the old pump. I have not tried the other smaller adaptors as mine has inch pipe and I didn’t want to change it as the pipe is an inch at the filter. There maybe a option where you can buy a reducer fitting, to connect the pipe. Hope this helps. Other than that, all else ok.

This works beautifully for our pond
We originally bought a solar pump for our pond, but soon realised that this wasn’t strong enough. This pump works perfectly and we have been really pleased.
Bit larger than expected!
Great pump been running a week now, has cleared and reoxygenated pond nicely. Had a Blagdon pump before which lasted 3 years and didn’t think to check the size of the pump body…. only just goes under the water as quite a shallow pond…. does the job nicely though.

Excellent pond pump
I would highly recommend this garden pond pump, extremely efficient for a small to medium size pond. This is the 2nd Blagdon Midipond pump I’ve purchased & it lasts for years. I wouldn’t consider purchasing any other brand.
The pump is good, but the control valves on the t-piece didn’t close the flow completely, the manufacturer informed me they should and to get in touch with Amazon to sort the problem. The guy I spoke to at Amazon did what he was able to do, by offering a replacement pump or a full refund. The problem was I only need to replace the t-piece which wasn’t in his powers to do. Now as the pump was already wired in to my set up and not worth the hassle to disconnect it, I said I won’t be returning it. At this point he had one more go at pleasing me by offering a 20% discount. Which I accepted. I then bought a ball valve to fit on the t-piece to shut the flow when I needed to. I have given this review in the hope that maybe in the future it will be possible to just replace the faulty part and not send everything back.

Works great, but may need just a little finesse and patience do undo the “catches” retaining the end cover when you want to clean it out. Need to clean off the green catches and look closely at the “lock” and “unlock” padlock symbols!

Great pump but have to clean filter sponge quite often, but easy to do. It does three feeds and you can regulate where you want the most pressure.
Bought this to replace the smaller version (minipond) . It has been going perfectly for approx 2 months now left on continuously with no problems. It runs a small waterfall and also turns over the water in the pond. Just 1 minor glitch in that it seems a bit more fiddly to get to the sponge filter for cleaning than the smaller version but not really a great problem. Excellent pump.

Easy to install and with many different fountain effects in our large pond. We have had various pond pumps in the last 20 years and this is a good un, so far.

The pump was delivered quickly. I have used Blagdon pumps for my pond for a very long time. This new design is so much better, straight forward to fit and very easy to clean, which only needs doing much less less frequently. Very pleased.
Check carefully what you need it for!
Be careful to keep in mind what you want it to do! I bought the correct pump for the size of my pond, but I needed the most powerful model to run my waterfall feature i.e the fountain feature is fine and there are a number of pieces supplied to vary the flow, but the ‘rise’ of water was clearly too great for the pump to provide more than a trickle for the waterfall. In the end, disappointing .
Same day delivery with Prime (fantastic). Heavy duty and much stronger and more robust in design and appearance than my previous pond pump. The plastic fittings for the fountain options and outlet pump are really strong and solid with good valves for reducing flow rates. Really quick and easy to put together and the added filter is a bonus. Once the plug was fitted and outlet tube for the filter and water fall attached with ease – it was submersed and running within minutes – the flow rate was much stronger than my old pump and within a few hours – the sediment within the pond had noticeably reduce. Really pleased with the product as are the fish. The product comes with a 3year warrantee – though it does recommend cleaning out monthly. This ease of this is yet to be tested. The only improvements I would suggest are the two plastic locking pins holding the front filter case to the main body of the pump. These are a little flimsy and require a coin or large screw driver to turn 45/90 deg to release or lock.

I have been having theses pumps for years and a good value, easy to install but find the cleaning can be a problem as it is not always easy to get to the filter.

Pump does both waterfall and fountain in a fish pond with 7 large carp.
This pump replaces a 19 year old Blagdon pump which has pumped it’s last. I have included photos of the old pump and of this one, dismantled as for cleaning. as can be seen, the old one is a radial induction motor, based on a S. M. C. or Myson central heating pump, with the sealed stator and windings driving the squirrel cage derived disc, where as this one is based on a washing machine drain pump, where the sealed stator and windings drive a permanent magnetic armature,and in fact it is a synchronous motor, that runs in either direction, which is random on switch on. It comes with an excellent pack of accessories for connecting to a hose and a fountain with an assortment of fountain shapes, and two extension tubes, one of them of adjustable length, along with two ball joints to enable the fountain to be level even if the pump is not. I note that this, the smallest in the range has got the best reviews for reliability, this is probably due to to the same size foam filter being used in all four, meaning that more water and particles are drawn through between cleaning times for the larger versions, the issue being with clogging up. Well if it is of any consolation, I got 19 years out of the old one, and that was with cleaning it daily during summer, the reason for failure is Blagdon stopped doing the spares for it. Thanks to Amazon for supplying this replacement at a discount price, my fish can once more, enjoy oxygenated and filtered water!

I have just ordered another of these after many years of trouble free use. So glad they haven’t discontinued this pump. I have regularly cleared the debris from the grills around the pump with a long handled brush. Keeps going throughout the year.

This unit looks and operates superbly and is easy to clean when required, mine having been in operation since early July 2015 with the minimum of attention, that of checking that there were no obstructions to the cut-outs or the internals of the body.

Just a matter of a straight substitution. New one works well with plenty of power available to cope with a three foot head and sensible controls.

Really working well. Was bought to replace a similar pump which finally gave up after many years.
This new version is easier to open with screwdriver operated fixings on the side. The previous pump was a little difficult to open for maintenance.

I thought there must be an obstruction but this is not the case. It just seems to get tired after a while and needs a KITA. Delivered on time and as advertised. Nearly 5 stars.

My previous Blagdon pump, packed up, I shouldn’t complain as it has run 24/7 from April to Nov,for seven years,and as I bought it along with the minipond filter system MPF6000,I did not pay a lot for it,the filter system has run well in my 1500ltr pond through
the filter box and out of a stainless steel waterfall, the water stays perfectly clean, and the goldfish are healthy, as is the pond life ,frogs etc., Very pleased with purchase.
I have a very small 500 litre pond. I only wanted a pump to circulate the water for a few small goldfish. It is a very strong pump. I had to turn the valve right down on the fountain flow because it was too much for such a small pond on full flow, and thankfully you can adjust everything with this pump. The fountain on full flow is forceful and impressive. The only problem for me as a complete electricity novice was that it arrived with no plug attached and no plug in the box. I realise that a lot of people will want to attach it straight to the mains but I had major difficulty working out how to SAFELY fit a plug. Apart from that this is an excellent choice. Although i will say that if your pond is small like mine get a less powerful pump unless you want attachments like waterfalls, filters etc.

Well, we received the order of the pump timeously and it took me just over an hour to install and connect up to existing system (retaining waterfall feature and fountain feature from previous pump). The extra power just gives the whole set-up a bit more ‘mo-jo’ and my mum is thrilled to have the sound of ‘tinkling’ water while she sits in the conservatory.

It is a good product but filter cleansing can be problematic : it can be difficult to separate the 2 pieces for filter cleaning.
