Very easy to use and kept the lawn short. This saves time and effort and takes little time in mowing the lawn. Saves me lugging out the petrol mower. I recommend this item

Easy to setup make sure when you set up the blade it brushes the bottom and you hear a slight noise when mowing it cuts like scissors so have to connect. The only slight niggle is the grass collector tends to rest right at the front of the collector and is a little awkward other than that brilliant no wires very little noise its light weight and easy to store and nice to use I only have a small 30ft x 20 ft garden and takes minutes to cut mo messing.

Easy to set up. I read previous reviews which sounded like this was a complex assembly process due to the vague instructions. Take your time and use a bit of common sense and it’ll be fine.

Adjusting the blades is easy and takes a bit of trial and error to get the desired cutting height.

I find it works best without the flimsy plastic grass reservoir.

This manual mower got good reviews which were well justified in my experience.

    Just a couple of tips.

    1. I suggest you slacken off the cutting adjusters by turning the knobs (anti-clockwise) one complete turn. This makes the mower easier to push and will still cut just as well!

    2. Don’t bother with the tools supplied. Invest in a socket set instead.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHaving read the reviews for this lawn mower I tried to find something else that would be better but I wasn’t willing to spend twice the money for them when their ratings were only marginally better. So I took the plunge. I have a petrol mower for when the grass is very high, but wanted a powerless mower to keep the grass low. My grass at the time of cutting today was approx 12 inches long and it was a bit damp too.

The mower has 3 main height settings to cut the grass, it was supplied in the middle setting, my lawn is mostly flat but the sides are uneven. Across the flat areas the mower cut easily and without problem, it surprised me because the reviews suggested it would struggle. i wanted to get a tighter cut so made the adjustment to the 1st position, again, it cut the flat ground with no problem, even the 12″ grass. What I did find is the grass collector collects in a way, but most of the grass collected on the mower head – so I just pushed it into the collector by hand, really wasn’t a drama. The shorter grass when cut goes into the collector much better and as you would expect it to.

When I moved to the sides where the uneven ground was the mower struggled, in fact it ground to a halt. I also found the collector grounding out a lot and breaking loose from the mower head, so I would have to re-attach it. Once I set the mower to the 3rd height setting (for cutting the longest grass), it managed the uneven ground much better but still had its moments of struggling and the collector still grounded out. I didn’t feel overly bothered by it.

So my verdict is, this mower is brilliant, for the money it is far better than I expected and the added bonus of getting exercise while cutting the grass makes this purchase an absolute no-brainer ! I would definitely recommend the mower.

It’s very satisfying to use this. It’s lightweight, it’s easy to use. It makes mowing the lawn a more fulfilling experience than a powered mower. The cuttings bucket is a bit naff at catching the cuttings, but that’s part of the fun.
Get one, you won’t regret it.

Arrived on time, easy to assemble.Couldn’t wait to use so went at it even after overnight rain on rugged overgrown patch .Took plenty of effort due to 9″ grass length and some time but I was really happy with result .Did have to adjust height of blade to tackle length but easily done.Second cut after 4 weeks was really easy and pretty effortless .Delighted with this mower, exactly what I wanted for my uneven backyard. If you have any problems with your cut ,trial and error with the two adjusting mechanisms should sort it.

    Simplicity

I am very impressed with this.
Having read some of the other reviews, I was a bit concerned about how easy it would be to assemble. I needn’t have worried, it was very easy. All you need to do is put on the handle, add the brackets for the grass box and make a few adjustments if necessary. All the nuts and bolts and a spanner are included. It took me about half an hour to get it going – and I’m quite slow at this sort of thing.
The mower is very easy to push and cuts really well. In some parts of my lawn the grass was about 3 inches tall and it cut that with no problem at all.
I would definitely recommend this mower to anyone who has a reasonably small patch of grass to cut. It was as quick as using my old electric mower and even gives some stripes. It feels very light when you are using it, so it is easy to manoeuvre, and it is fairly quiet as well.

Light weight – yes. Easy to assemble – yes. However, I’d suggest this mower would run smoothly on flat terrain. If you have anything like my minefield of a garden then this is not for you, unless you want a impromptu upper body work out and are happy to put in the elbow grease.
It was certainly a labour of love and the lawn has such a crisp cut and the blades really have done a fantastic job

Love this machine! Assembly was fine. I would recommend using your own tools as the included spanner will take all day.

I was a bit apprehensive that this would be worthwhile but I was mistaken. It’s excellent. So satisfying to use and the cut it makes it so neat and a pleasure to look at. Makes you want to cut the lawn daily haha. I’m addicted.

I have a top brand petrol lawnmower which I recently sharpened the blade. The difference is night and day. I will be selling the petrol mower now.

This thing takes up no space and feels like it will last a good while. Good height adjustments etc. I have around 50sqm of lawn and this takes no longer than the petrol mower.

    Well pleased!

It has a 8 x 10mm bolts to assemble, 6 to assemble the handle, 2 to attach the grass box clips, if you can’t use a spanner to tighten 8 bolts, then this isn’t the product for you, people who say you need an engineering degree, well I have and if it were as easy as this we’d all have engineering phd’s. Then bingo , push and it cuts, it cuts cleaner than my rotary mover. The grass box is ok on the flat its but tends to spill on slopes, so 1 mark dropped for that.

Having used every type of mower over 35 years I can honestly say that this is the best mower I have used for the quality of the cut. OK it may take a little more effort to push but it’s well worth the effort and your lawn will look so much better for it.

It takes me anything upto an hour to cut my grass with a normal mower, so I thought I would get one of these to see if would be quicker and easier.
And by god, I just managed to cut my grass in 10 mins (minus the edges) and barely broke a sweat!
It was easy to put together (instructions need to include which screws are for what but figured it out on my own).
My grass already looks healthier and I’m looking forward to being able to quickly whizz over the grass going forward!
One small downside is that the grass box isn’t much use as most of the grass flys around and ends in everywhere but the grass box. At the most, half the grass was caught.
But that doesn’t put me off using this again and again!!!

Wish I bought this years ago! I have MS and often struggle to cut the lawn so it can get too long. This is better than my electric mower, never had my lawn this short before it’s lovely, no cables and easy to manoeuvre. Favourite thing I’ve bought this year. Thank you!

Easy to use, very lightweight, cuts the grass a treat. Does jam if comes across a twig and I have to clear it. Also all the washers were missing from the box, but as I got it cheaper as it was an “open box” item, that may explain why they weren’t there. Go manual, better for the environment and your health, good workout .

Just what I wanted and Bosch a reliable make. Easy to push as the blades are so sharp and, although we have a powerful petrol mower, I prefer a mower that is easy for me to control at my own pace. Unlike a reviewer, I found it easy to assemble – just requires a mental step back to study where this or that goes, together with a little thought. What more can be said about something that has lived up to expectations? Excellent and highly recommended.

I have broken my electric mower so many times because of lots of pebbles in my garden.
I was even scared to use an electric one at all times.
This manual one does not bite pebbles as long as we adjust the depth of the cut.
I do not need to connect it to the plug, either.
Of course this manual one is slower than an electric one,
but my garden is not too big so that this manual is just good enough.

Ordered Saturday, arrived Monday, top marks to Amazon for delivery. I assembled it today, not a lot to assemble really, just the handle and the grass catcher attachments. Took about 15 minutes and that included the time I spent fetching a better spanner. It really is simple and anyone with a spanner should manage to assemble it with no difficulty. The instructions are the standard picture type which most people should be able to follow.

The box it came in was the biggest challenge, I had to cut it up somewhat to get it in the recycling bin but I got there in the end.

It is a delight to push, although I might have to adjust the ride height later, the grass is quite short at the moment but we have an abundance of yellow weeds and it dealt with them okay. We have been using an old Flymo hover for years and this is much lighter to lug about and no faffing with a cable. My 20+ year old son had a go of it and agreed that is a great improvement on the hover.

It looks rather nice too and it is relatively quiet. I will be sticking with this.

Love this mower! Ignore the negative reviews. I assembled mine inside the house and I got down to eye-level and moved the mower back and forth so I could see exactly how the blade-adjustment works, and whether it was cutting more on one side or not. Once it’s close to being set then you barely need any twisting of the adjusters to get it cutting perfectly. It’s a joy to cut the lawn without worrying about cords, it’s really light to manoeuvre around, and it’s a lovely traditional sound when in action too.

Sure, the basket gets filled up easily, and if you don’t push the clippings back towards the back of the basket then they cover the blades. Also it’s a bit of a faff to take it on or off for emptying. And if you’re expecting the stripes you get from a heavy rotary mower (or heavy electric cylinder mower like an Allett) then you’ll be disappointed. And, as with any cylinder mower, if you’re expecting to cut very very long grass then you’ll struggle. But in a once-or-twice per week routine it’s very smooth to use.

But the positives far outweigh these negatives. Also don’t forget that being a cylinder mower (which snips the grass like a pair of scissors) that it’s much less stressful for the grass than being ‘slashed’ by a FlyMo-type thing for example. Finally it’s great for storage too; the handle once assembled just pops off by squeezing where it attaches to the mower and then you can leave it outside somewhere, meaning the mower-body doesn’t take up much space when storing inside.

Buy it, spend some time adjusting the blades properly, and you’ll love it too!

    Great little mower!

It’s an easy-to-assemble machine and comes with the cutting-gathering box. You can adjust the height of the blades and also fine-tune the action. It isn’t particularly heavy and it does what its designed to do and does it well. Having a manual mower greatly appealed to me and I imagined gliding back and forth across my newly-laid turf, secure in the knowledge that I wasn’t damaging the environment as I added stripe after enviable stripe. The reality was rather different however. An undulating surface and hitherto uncut grass made for a sweaty and exhausting couple of hours. My next-door neighbour offered me the use of her hover-mower but I stubbornly declined. On a flat, consistent surface and with a manageable height of grass you will have no problems but carefully consider your fitness level prior to purchasing!

Don’t waste your money on a noisy mower, with or without a cord. This one does the job, pretty much straight out the box. Screw on the handles and BAM you’re good to go. Leave the grass box in the garage tho or it’s gonna be a bit of a hassle to keep emptying it. Once I left the grass box behind it was much easier. The cut is good, if the grass is very long you’ll need a bit of extra push but it will cut. Honestly I beat my neighbor with their loud mower every time and I paid half the price for this guy who is probably more efficient anyway. Definitely recommend, well done Bosch.

Wanted a manual mower just to run over the lawns in between “big” cuts. Out of box, assembled and lawns mowed within 1/2 hour. Feels well made and was rather more enjoyable than battling the heavy electric I have. Very pleased, I think the electric will see very little use now.

There is a degree of self assembly a) to make the mower package easier to transport and b) to cater for different models (with and without collecting box). Others have mentioned the instructions and tools provided are a bit lacking. I have many years of experience of self assembly so I did not find it difficult, but the tool provided (small spanner) though adequate is far from ideal. There are only 8 nuts and bolts with the same size heads so if you have a socket set with a 10mm hexagon socket it will make it a lot easier. The handle assembly bolts are locked from rotating by the square holes, you tighten the nut on the inside of the frame. The instructions are okay except for attaching the grass box catches which are plain wrong. There is no washer (and no need for one). Each catch plate has two holes, one fits over a plastic protrusion and the other is for the short bolt and nut. The nut fits in a recess on the inside, the bolt goes through from the outside and you tighten the bolt head. This bit should be rewritten by the manufacturer. Once assembled tighten the big plastic wing nuts to set the height of the cut – if you don’t know go for the middle setting – and off you go. It cuts very cleanly, the box collects the cuttings as well as any hand mower does. It is easy to push and quiet too. Very pleased.

This mower is great – buy it!

I don’t use the collection bucket, just mow regularly and let the clippings fall onto the grass, this means that you save on fertiliser in addition to the electricity or petrol. You can make stripes easily when the height setting isn’t too low, just firmly push down for a better effect as it’s not very heavy. Take time to get the blades setup perfectly so that there’s a clean cut across the entire length.

The grass looks so much healthier compared to previously – using a blunt old Flymo.

I love my Bosch manual lawnmower!
I actually find it relaxing mowing my lawn with no loud motor noise. It reminds me of my childhood when most mowers were manual and all you heard on a Sunday afternoon was a manual mower or the gentle snip snip of garden shears, heaven.
It does a great job too!!
I abandoned the grass box on the first use as the grass was quite long ( first cut) and being made of lightweight plastic it kept bouncing off but that in no way detracts from this mower which I recommend.

I am really lazy but want a nice lawn… I wanted a robot but our really small lawn just doesnt warrant it, but I knew that if I had to drag a lawnmower all the way around the house from the garage (middle terraced house) it would just not happen.
We have found a little bin that the manual mower lives in, in the garden and so now a couple of times a week we just run it over the lawn. We have had it a month and the lawn already looks much better, it does a nice level cut, we let the cuttings go back on the lawn so dont use the basket, there is just the little bit around the edges – the thickness of the wheels – but I have a pair of grass shears and just walk around and trim these off. The whole lawn is done quicker than I would have dragged an electric/engine mower out so its great. We have a can of WD40 which we spray the blades with before putting away to stop it rusting in its bin and its great. Very pleased.

Not great for cutting long thick grass as this tends to clog between the blades and cutting edge but I have a large lawn and normally use a petrol mower. I bought this to finish off a games area and it is excellent for that so long as you keep the grass short. So, great for frequent cutting of short grass but not for long stuff.

A bit fiddly to use the supplied spanner so resorted to my socket set, but easy enough to set up. Took it for a test run on my rather drought stricken grass; it seems to cut ok even on the bumpy bits, but will probably work better on longer grass. I’m not sure if the grass box is much use though, as after it was a quarter full the clippings brush against the blades and are flicked out again, so would need frequent emptying. Anyway an eco friendly way to get fit, cuts close enough to the edging stones that the strimmer will cope with the rest. Not too heavy to lift and the mid level bar is a convenient height handle.
Going to be greasing the blade assembly though as there’s a loud clacketty sound in use, so I hope a bit of lubrication will quieten it down a bi

It was a bit fiddly to assemble, the instructions are next to useless for English speaking buyers but we got it together eventually. A little too lightweight perhaps but I only have a small lawn so it is ideal. My last push mower lasted over 40 years. If this one lasts as long I shall be 122! So no pressure. The grass box is big and difficult to attach and makes the mower less manoeuvrable in a small space so I don’t use it. All in all, a good purchase.

It cuts grass as it says on the box!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNot bad for a first mow in Spring. My garden’s grass was very long and the mower definitely struggled so took a bit of effort. Therefore required repeated attempts of going over the lawn in a pattern. But got there in the end. Even created stripes, which I thought was a complex task!

The fiddly bit is the height adjustment to get it right since you don’t get any markers but flimsy left/right unscrew and screw. Also thought handles were going to break because of the load.

Apart from that cuts effortlessly once the grass height was at its best. Seems like a mower for regular maintained lawns and not something for overgrown gardens unless you want a workout.

Definitely a workout compared to a electric mower! Will see how long it lasts.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe item was fairly easy to assemble, the instructions were very straight forward, just follow the pictures. I found that the blade would not turn at first, it would jam around the body of the mower, but after watching a You Tube tutorial, found out how to adjust it and it then turned just fine. I use it for an allotment where there is no electricity and didn’t want a petrol mower. It is fairly hard work to use on medium/long grass, you need to keep going back and forth to get the clumps down but you get there eventually. I found that the section that collects the trimmings would fall off a lot during mowing of rough grass. Once the grass is short, the mower glides over it and cuts perfectly well. It also requires emptying frequently. So lots of walking about. However, I also want to use my work on the allotment to get fitter, and you certainly get a workout using this! If you want something that makes the job of mowing easy and effortless, then this is not the mower for you. If you want something that gives you some exercise, and is kinder to the environment than a petrol mower, I’d recommend this one. Overall, very pleased with this mower. Good value, gets the job done, is lightweight, and doesn’t take up much storage space.

    I’ll admit it, I don’t like gardening.

That said, this little mower is so easy to use that I’ll whip it out of the garage if I have a spare 5mins and give the lawn a trim. No messing with power cables, it’s dead easy.

Is it any good? It might not win any awards for best kept lawn (that’s probably more my fault) but it keeps my lawn looking adequate, I have no issues with it at all. The fact that my lawn only looks adequate is in no way the fault of the mower 😉

My only criticism is that the instructions were not clear, at all, as to how to attach the first section of the handle. I sat there knowing it was looking me in the face but couldn’t figure it, so YouTubed it and zoomed into a completed mower to see where it needed to be attached. Once I knew that, then it was a doddle!
My grandson was thrilled and insisted on helping me mow the lawn. No worry of wires and good for working out. Although, 3.5 year old attached does make it more challenging!

It’s a Bosch so it’s well made. A bit heavy but it is a hand push mower. Took 15min to assemble with the flimsy cheap tool they send with it. I live in Guernsey and hate mowing the lawn, especially in winter when it is permanently wet. This mower out-performs my electric mower. It’s easy to assemble, very high quality and cuts the lawn in no time at all. It’s hassle free, super easy to rinse off with water and easy to store. I will now be selling my electric mower. I did not use the lawn catcher, instead I cut the lawn and then did another round with this to chop up the off-cuts even smaller, although that may not sit everybody. I doubt the lawn catcher will work very well because the cut lawn flies all over the place, so that’s probably just one small warning. Oh and one nut was missing.

The assembly instruction were adequate but could be improved. The supplied ring spanner was best used for final tightening.. I used an adjustable spanner for initial fighting as the wider jaws were less likely to slip off.
Now the good bit. After assembly gave it a light oiling and thought I would see how it cut. My front lawn is about 35 ft by 25 ft in size. The grass was wet and covered in oak leaves. 6 minutes later the lawn was totally cut.! The mower was easy to use and manouvre. Used without the collector box so can’t comment on that.it was much easier to use than my petrol powered rotary mower.

The body is metal, feels robust. It was 5-10 minutes to put together. You basically only have to bolt the handle together plus two holders for the grasscollector. The cutting height setting is not too great neighter the blade adjustment. You have to be crafted, otherwise things wont be paralell. No mention in the manual how to adjust the cutting hight, there are 3 holes, you have to move the bolts to step up or down by 15mm. And after that you can fine set the height. By the way the cutting hights are 15-50mm and not 13-43mm. See the first picture.

Good quality bosch product, not great manual.

Cuts pretty efficiently, just have to make sure you don’t leave the grass to grow too long and avoid cutting while moist.

Purchased to replace a very old cylinder mower. The Bosch AHM 38 G Manual Garden Lawn Mower is an excellent piece of equipment that is light and very easy to use. The grass I need to cut is a small area and this mower is just the job. Following a number of cuts using it I can already see the improvement in the look of the lawn. The mower is very well made and I expect to last a long time and me being in my seventies will no doubt see me out!

I would highly recommend this product. It cuts the grass perfectly and you can take the handle on and off easily so the mower bit can be stored in a box when you are not using it – great for those with little storage. I read in some reviews that it didn’t cut the grass properly however I don’t know how that is the case as it’s been fine for me. The only bit that is not brilliant is that the grass collects into the collection bucket and builds up at one end so you have to keep pushing the grass into the back of the bucket. However if you are only cutting a small area this really isn’t a bother and anyway once your grass is short and you are cutting frequently then I don’t use the collection bucket anyway. It’s so much easier having a manual mower and not having to bother with electrical chords or expensive battery replacements.

decent enuf, blades stay nice and sharp as they self sharpen when adjusted right .. so dont touch, trust me!. Adjustment of cutting height not quick. grass box very cheap plastic feel. most of grass either misses box or buids up at front edge. But quieter and quicker than a plug in for a small garden.

Very pleased with this, it is easy to assemble even with my cack handedness. I did resort to a pair of pliers at one point rather than the supplied spanner but it is really easy. More fun than the electric mower, nice cut. Disagreed with other reviewers on the pleasant whirr, mine is quite high pitched bit otherwise a very good buy. Wonder why it has such chunky tyres, they’re like all terrain ones and so wide they limit how close to things you can cut.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI used this today and because the grass was a bit long, I had to remove the grass basket as it the grass was sticking and bulking up. After the first cut, it was easier to use and I latched the basket back. It’s a fab mower, does the job and easy to use. My husband built it up and it didn’t take him long. The handle can also be removed (it just clips on both sides) which makes it easier to store. I would recommend this for anyone who has a smallish lawn and doesn’t wait until the grass is too long before cutting.

It does not mow as well as the old fashioned ‘Webb Whippet’ mower I had years ago but on the other hand it weighs probably half the weight and is much cheaper and takes up less room in the shed as the handle detaches. It took 15 min to assemble, its very easy. Where it is inferior to the old one is that it does not have a big heavy rear roller which has more contact with the grass and therefore does not skid. Sometimes the thinnish plastic wheels on the Bosch skid on the grass and so the cutting stops. It is important to set the right contact on the blade setting, with the left and right adjustment, it is quite critical. However, its cheap and does a reasonable job on the whole.

Very easy to assemble and the quality is great for the price (59.99 delivered)… Ensure you spend some time setting up the blade cassette using the twist-knobs – use a piece of paper and make sure the blades rotate while cutting the paper cleanly across the entire length of the cutting surface, it’s OK if there’s a small amount of friction – this will make sense when you come to setup the mower. I’ll likely update this review when I’ve cut some grass, as there’s a whole week of rain ahead!

This is ideal for a short, well maintained lawn. I currently use mine around twice a week.

I love this mower. So easy to use and light weight. Initial set up takes a bit of tweaking but once you have set it up correctly it doesn’t need altering. My first cut was awful and hard work but after a few tweaks its now so easy to use. It does cut on the shorter side so I leave it set up on the highest setting. If your grass is long you will need to cut a few times starting witht he highest setting and lowering after each cut. Otherwise its hard going. Once set up correctly its really light weight.

I was nervous about this lawnmower due to the number of very negative reviews. Having tried it now on my lawn, I can only conclude that those reviewers either did not put it together properly or were trying to mow what are essentially overgrown lawns (the photos on some reviews look like very long grass). It cuts very well, I didn’t experience any of the ‘missed’ sections some comments talk about and its extremely satisfying to use. I will concede that on an uneven part of the lawn the collection box was dislodged, but that was only once and the vast majority of the clipping do indeed end up in the box, even when the grass was wet. I am pleased and relieved with the purchase. I may even mow more regularly so as to mulch cut the grass rather than using the collector.

Love this little mower. After years of lugging a Flymo round which mangles the lawn and spews grass everywhere this beauty cuts smoothly even on a bumpy surface. Long grass not its favourite but as long as you take the grass box off it’s pretty competent at cutting even the overgrown bits. No cable to plug in and cut through. Not too hard to push and would tackle a medium sized lawn with ease.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAssembly: Clear instructions and very few parts to combine. The included spanner was a bit fiddly but I just grabbed my adjustable spanner from the garage. Height adjustment is easy, though I’d have liked a gauge/dial to show what my cutting height is. Calibrating the cut/blade tension took only a moment. ***You only have to have it tight enough to cut a piece of paper at both sides and middle while you slowly turn the blade with your thumb***

Manoeuvrability: Lightweight and compact, the lower handle bar serves as a carrying handle so easy to move around. Light enough to pick up and change direction easily. No awkward swinging or sweeping around like with a rotary or hover mower. Other reviews have said that its hard to push. I suspect they 1) have the blade tension set way too tight against the bed knife, 2) The ground they are using is really too bumpy for this style of mower, 3) They are leaving it way too long between cuts of 4) they truly are weaklings. This takes less effort to move than my hover mower!

Cut: Great sharp cuts, blades slice the grass instead of hacking it like a rotary, so no yellow tips to the grass blades. The back roller does an ample job of striping. The included photo is my front lawn. I went out and did a quick cut at the highest height (I cut every 2-3 days). Less than optimal conditions with damp grass and cloudy sky so the stripes don’t stand out very well. I appreciate that this is a small space, but honestly, unless you have acres to cut (in which case a powered reel mower would serve you better) this is a great item.

Overall: Great product. 5/5 Would Recommend. Well designed, simple to use and maintain, great looking lawns at a reasonable price.

Easy to assemble and use. Great quality cu

The product was delivered the day after ordering. Easy to assemble and adjust. Cutting grass with a cylinder mower after having cut it with a rotary mower can be difficult. Rotary mowing leaves the grass matted and flat which makes it difficult for a cylinder mower. In particularly difficult patches it takes a lot of effort to get the mower to cut. The more often and more frequent the grass is cut the easier it becomes and the better the finish. It is worth persevering to get a good result. Scarifying the grass should help.

I am so happy with this lawn mower.
I wanted a manual onr to save on space, and for the ease of not having to plug it in/wires/petrol ect.
It came well packed, and easy to put together. The instructions could be clearer, but the pieces are fairly self explanetory.
Once it was together, I gave it a go.
My garden was overgrown, with grass between half a foot and a couple foot tall. It took some going to get through the longer stuff, but it did so.
I can’t say there are stripes on the garden, but I am not bothered about having them. I also didn’t use the collection bin (though it has come in very handy for pulling up weeds and carrying them to the bin).
I found it easy to move around the garden, and easy enough to store, as well.
It is also very convenient to get out and put away, making me more likely to actually cut the grass.
Overall, I love this lawn mower, and am very glad I chose a manual one.

My grass had grown to easily about 50cm -70cm long. I have had electric lawn movers before. With this length, even an electric mover won’t be easy to do the job. Even worse is the possibility of spoiling the equipment. I admit the first round was a bit difficult (due to the length of grass), but after that it was a breeze. I will certainly recommend it, more so for the cost saved (without electricity). Also, I need not worry about overstraining my mower anymore.

The spanner provided did not fit the nuts it was too big so instead of taking a minute to tighten all of them it took 20 minutes of fiddling; you could not tighten them with your fingers. 2 washers were missing from the sealed pack.

The instructions are just diagrams and its difficult to see what you are supposed to do I still cant see how to height adjust the blades. I looked on the Internet but couldn’t find anything either.

Having said the above which I think are fair comments – I am very pleased with the product. It is lightweight, cuts the grass a treat and you can easily push it. My lawns are not all even so now and then you need a gentle shove.

The grass box is fine as long as you don’t zoom along a bumpy lawn. I had to empty it regularly as the grass clogs the roller before the grass box is full. This was not a problem.

I thought for a medium lawn it might be too small for the job but not at all. Overall the product is great. I read all the reviews and really dithered about buying this but for me it was a very good buy.

Update: Love it! I’ve used it for ~6 months and it’s like one of those songs that grow on you over time and gradually what was once utter disinterest turns into a spot on the daily playlist.

Initially had to get my rather tall grass professionally cut because this lawnmower was magnificently unequipped for a scenario of that magnitude. But after this, monthly mows under the fall sun sailed smoothly and the experience enjoyable. The grass was easy to cut and the mechanical click-click almost mellifluous. As long as your grass doesn’t look like a 70s pornstar’s bush, this lawnmower will do absolutely fine.

    /——————————————————————/

Not easy to assemble, especially attaching the basket for cuttings. Does NOT work for long grass (why else would you need a lawnmower?) without the cuttings getting entangled in the moving parts, after which you have to clean it out before it starts to operate again. Believe me, you’ll have to do this at least 10 times for a 5m run.

I can’t believe that a company like Bosch made this. Absolute rubbish. Thinking of selling on eBay.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI bought this due to the positive reviews, and am happy to add my own. Lawn mowing was a real chore before, using a smelly, noisy diesel fuelled thing that (despite being marketed as “Easy Start” was anything but). I’d let myself be convinced by more experienced gardeners that a manual would be far too much for me, especially given the size of my lawn. A friend said that really, I should get a ride-on mower or hire a gardener. Instead I bought this little Bosch for 59 and put it together in about 20 minutes. Sure, it’s slower than a power mower and needs cleaned after use – but far more pleasant to use. Much nicer to smell fresh cut grass than diesel fumes. I found it easier to use without the cuttings basket attached. It’s a very nice little piece of equipment, which makes such a gentle whirring noise that I have to urge my dog to shift out of my way.

Only wish I'd switched to manual before!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe have recently moved house to one with a much smaller garden so I got rid of my old petrol mower. The back garden was made easy maintenance including loads of pebbles which I got rid of and instead we have had it turfed. It’s a small area so I thought this mower would be ideal. I have fond memories of doing my parent’s lawns as a teenager with a push mower and so I took the plunge. I was told to leave the turf a week or so to let it bed in which I did. In what has been perfect growing weather, it has taken off and it’s some hybrid grass that is really thick. It has been tough to cut! It is hard. I’m sure an electric one would have made short work of it but I have persevered, grown some muscle and slowly getting it under control. I have been hard on this mower and it is standing up and I’m sure it will do a good, easier job eventually. It is tough as well as lightweight. I read a comment somewhere that it could have done with some self locking nuts on the handle and I agree. I did buy some but apart from that, no complaints.

Really enjoy using this mower, and it feels like a product I’m going to have for the rest of my life. The only thing that lets it down is the basket on the back might detach over bumpy ground, however I would say these type of mowers are only meant to be used on fairly even lawns. Call me sad, but using this mower has made mowing the grass really fun and quite satisfying! In the summer I’ll mow it a couple of times a week after work, as it only takes 5 minutes when you don’t have to mess around plugging it in. This eliminates the basket issue as the clippings are so short I just leave them degrade.

Arrived on time. It would had been 5 stars except for – A bit fiddly to put it together and the handle was really stiff to fit together and the grass catcher box is plastic and slightly too large for the slots it fits onto. Fine when it is empty and you can bend it to fit on but when full of grass bending it to take it off meant grass clippings everywhere. Thankfully I hadn’t yet disposed of my ancient qualcast panther mower and the grass box from the old fits the new one much better.

I’ve had it a few weeks and was beginning to doubt if it was any good because the cut wasnt short enough but after fiddling about with it today i finally got the cut low by adjusting the rollbar height to the lowest setting and the distance between the bottom blade and rotary blades closer. Now its great and cuts the grass short just like a scissors to hair. One area it struggles with is cutting the very edges of the lawn and with tall weeds that bend rather than get chopped but overall I’m very impressed with it and shouldn’t need our electric mower for the rest of the summer. As a nice bonus its a good workout too especially if you have a larger garde

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m old school when it comes to lawns. I also own an electric mower, to used in the winter when it’s too wet and slippery to use this one. But you just can’t produce the classic striped lawn unless you use a manual cylinder mower. This arrived super-sharp, and cut beautifully, but it soon gets a bit blunt (worm-casts, odd stones, bits of soil thrown onto the lawn by cats using the beds as their WCs etc.) It’s thus important to sharpen the blades fairly regularly. The easiest way to do this is with the Multi-Sharp 1101 Cylinder Mower Sharpener 30cm/12″ (which is fantastic).

Overall this cuts as well, or better, than anything else at two or three times the price, IMO.

Golden Review Award: 104 From Our UsersFull marks for this little mower from Bosch! It’s a lovely little machine that does the job. Was a little concerned about the putting together but needn’t have been- its all very straightforward, quick and easy. Everything you need is in a little packet with instructions in the box along with the large sections of the mower itself. The mower worked beautifully from the off. There is a technique to easy cutting with this which just seems to click in as you go – hopefully that will make sense! It cuts low too (you can change the cutting level if need be) and very neatly. If used without the grass collector basket (which is, admittedly, a little cumbersome) any grass left in the lawn is shredded into tiny pieces and not untidy but easy to collect up if a perfectionist! Furthermore, this mower makes a lovely, low whirring noise whilst going around which is amazingly lulling and relaxing! – quite different from the hideous noise of its electric/petrol counterparts! The mower is not cumbersome/heavy and easy to store too. In my opinion a really good purchase, certainly no regrets and a very good price from Amazon. Very pleased indeed. Well packaged with excellent Amazon delivery.

When our electric mower failed I used a gift voucher to buy this mower, much to my husband’s horror. Although I tried to assemble it myself I had to give in and ask for help. However, my husband and son assembled it quite quickly and with a height adjustment, I was off. It requires a bit of effort but being retired I have time to use it two or three times a week. Golden Review Award: 158 From Our UsersArrived lunchtime, assembled in 5-10 minutes, starting to now the overgrown lawn and love it.

Compared to the electric (Flymo compact 300) noisy nightmare, its amazing. Quiet asides from a gentle whir of the blades, and just gets on with mowing. No faff trying to unravel cables and extensions and trying to not behead flowers with the extension, or backtrack round the washing line. No dog barking every time the mower starts up. And no trouble stopping when you find a stone ahead – just stop pushing, move it, and carry on. My dog has a habit of picking rocks out the stone bucket, carrying them round the garden and leaving them in the long grass… The photos show halfway through mowing to show how it copes with the long grass.

The basket is mildly annoying so while I’m hacking the grass down I left it to one side. Later, I’ll re-mow the same bit with the basket on to collect the trimmings.

Its a lovely, well built mower and will be for years to come.

I love this. Everyone laughed when I said I was buying a manual garden mower. They said “you’ll have muscles like Popeye”, or “don’t be daft” or just “ha ha”. It hurt that no one had faith in this product and I’m so pleased that they were all wrong! It took me about 5 minutes to assemble (I did need to get someone to tighten up the nuts and use the bits that I thought looked too fiddly to bother with) and away I went. The grass has never been so mowed. Me and my husband race to mow the back garden now. It’s so therapeutic and fast.
The only negative is that is doesn’t cut the really high thick grass. I had to use garden shears the first time to trim all the long bits that it had missed to grass level but that was only once. Now we just mow the lawn every 3 days to keep it short.
The reason I got it in the first place was because my labs don’t like the grass to high to do their business and my husband had gone on holiday for 2 weeks. I like that I can cut the grass myself and don’t have to worry about wires, extension leads and storing something in a spider infested shed. We leave “Bert” (yes, we named him) outside and he’s good to go. We also don’t use the grass collector anymore and for some reason our grass has never looked better.

I’ve got a petrol honda mower and an electric flymo mower. They both cut well and are easy to use. However this one beats them for simplicity and practicalness (not sure thats a word but you know what I mean…).

This mower is very light weight – it can be lifted up with one finger. The cut is excellent – really sharp – really precise. It has a roller on the back to give you good stripes as well.

The plastic screws that are tightened to move the blades up and down are a little flimsy and when over tightened the plastic will split around the screw. This is an annoyance but does not stop the machine working. Just remember not to over tighten…..

A great mower for small to medium sized gardens – takes the same time as my electric mower – doesn’t clog when the grass is wet and doesn;t cost me anything to run! Brillia

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersA great little mower. Wasn’t too sure what to make of it when I first got it, like other reviewers, having used older heavier mowers which would cut lower ( and kill the lawn ! ), it took a few cuts to appreciate that my lawn was beginning to actually look really lush and a nice natural green colour again. It’s really light and easy to push, the adjustment of the roller is easy but be sure that you understand the assembly instructions, at first, I thought it wasn’t cutting at all but this is what other reviewers were saying, fiddly to set up.I did make one small engineering adjustment of my own, that being after finally getting the height adjustment to it’s lowest, I felt it needed to be a tad lower, so with a small round file, just extended the elongated adjustment hole by about 3 – 4 mm. My lawn isn’t the flattest of lawn but still this mower manages to apply a good even cut which always passes the bedroom window test.

Excellent mower once you get the setup right. The instructions are really not clear, the ‘tool free’ adjusting knobs are easy to break, and as others have said you’re better off forgetting about the grass collector but be patient and try a few different ways and you’ll get there.

All I have to do is make sure the grass doesn’t get too long and a quick run over with the mower and we’re neat again. Gives a brilliant cut. Glad I didn’t throw it away in frustration now

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThe mower is very easy to put together, by following the simple instruction booklet, however when it came to put the grass collector on I found it was to big to fit on the latches that connect the grass box to the mower.
You think to yourself , what am I doing wrong why won’t it fit. I ended up ringing the Bosch help for advice.
The gentleman explained that several people have had to return this product to them because they just didn’t fit the brackets on the outside correctly, and there had never been a problem on their part. I asked if he would then explain what I am doing wrong, because I had fitted them by the instructions and there was no way the supplied grass box was going to fit.
Bosch arranged for it to be collected the next day and returned it a few days later, with the brackets already fitted, as I had fitted them myself.
But guess what, the grass box had magically shrunk.
