Only used once so far but very impressed with its cutting efficiency. Selected Bosch as a brand I have confidence in although at this stage I would anticipate it being durable and reliable as have been the several Bosch items purchased over time. It is firmly constructed and quite heavy if using above head height. So far ver pleased and would recommend without hesitation.

    A neatly trimmed lady’s garde
I don’t have a garden, but I sent this product to a friend who does. This is what she had to say about it:

Considering how efficient it is, the Bosch EasyHedgeCut 45 isn’t unbearably heavy. The blade is a good length and width, it’s nicely balanced and ergonomically designed, and it isn’t too hefty to hold in a horizontal position at shoulder height for the top of the hedge. You notice the weight of it quite quickly, but as a 5’1″ and flabby woman I could still manage to use it long enough to cut my 15-year-old yew hedge. The branches are generally less than 4mm in diameter, which the Bosch handled easily. The new growth was so soft and springy that it just flexed out of the way of the first stroke, but you could catch it going the other way. The hedge trimmer struggled with stems that were more than 5mm or particularly woody. For these, a sawing motion was required. It was sharp enough to give a good cut, and it’s not too noisy considering its power.

I found it too hard on my hands to hold down the on lever and the switch at the same time for more than about ten minutes, but that is more about the size of my handspan. My sister, who is a working gardener, found that she was able to continue for around forty minutes until the hedge was finished.

The power cable could do with being a little longer, so that the weight of the connector stays on the ground; it would then keep out of the way more easily. As it is, the weight of it causes it to get in the way as it hangs by the hedge, and it can easily get caught when using a sideways sweeping motion.

    Effective hedge trimmer....
We have a very powerful hedge cutter that is cordless but I find it too heavy and unwieldy to use. I often want to trim back shrubbery or hedging and rather than calling on Mr. K I like to do it myself.

This Bosch Hedge Trimmer is ideal. It is fairly lightweight and has a 45cm blade and cuts through most shrubs etc with ease. Bear in mind — this is not a chainsaw and will jam up if you try to cut through thicker branches. However I find it excellent for my needs.

Like most electric garden tools the cable is too short — 10 metres — for most gardens so an extension reels is necessary. It is all too easy to become over-confident and cut through the cable — as I know from experience of hedge cutters in the past! So vigilance is needed.

I like the fact that a tip protector is included for using close to a wall or fence.

An effective and useful piece of kit.

So much better than my old Flymo trimmer.
This Bosh trimmer made light work of my hedge and cut through the thicker branches with a bit more effort, but it got through it all the same without stopping.

Lightweight, sharp and balanced in the hand.
This is the ‘upgraded’ model, we happened to have the older model of this and the weight difference is noticeable, and you do want a hedge trimmer to be lighter specially if you’re using it for a prolonged period of time.

The blade assembly has been upgraded as well, with a guard added protecting the moving parts from debris falling into them, and with a tip at the end to avoid direct contact with walls or fences, and it does help.

If you spend a couple minutes brushing debris off the blades and spraying some WD40 after use, you’ll prolong the life expectancy of your trimmer.

Overall: Excellent hedge trimmer that will last a lifetime with the right level of care, would definitely recommend.

Excellent trimmer from a respected manufacturer.
I’m no great lover of hedges. Yes, they look very nice when trimmed but I find the trimming to be a real chore. So, this EasyHedgeCut 45 from market leader Bosch is very welcome. Out of the box you just know you’re holding a quality bit of kit. It may not be suitable for larger hedges but for most suburban gardens it is just the job. It is well balanced and easy to control keeping user fatigue to a minimum. The blades are a good length and make short work of the cutting chore. I also like that the cable can be kept separate from the machine. I also thought the cable was a bit thicker than my old machine, whether that is of any significance I don’t know.
Bottom line? This is an excellent hedge trimmer for small to medium gardens…recommended.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersPerfect solution for trimming/shaping smaller hedges, with typical Bosch quality & performance!
I used to think that all hedge cutters were the same until I bought the Bosch Cordless 0600849F70 18 V Cutter which turned out to be a complete revelation! Exactly as Bosch’s own blurb stated, it cut (1st time) through dense hedge and even thick stems with consummate ease and even at a rather expensive 120, it’s one of the best gardening investments I’ve ever made (it really is that good)!

This one is the latter’s corded, little brother with a shorter cutting length, no sawing teeth on the end, mains power (as opposed to cordless) all for a cost that is near exactly half the price of its bigger brother, which begs the question as to which one is the better bargain? Well, the answer is actually pretty easy as it all really depends on the size, condition & thickness of the hedge your cutter will face. Typical solid Bosch build quality aside, in use, the EasyHedgeCut 45 is manageable, ergonomic & well balanced. It comes with a heavy duty, shielded mains cable and connector (far superior & safer as those used by cheaper brands) and just like it’s bigger brother, it cuts effortlessly through normal hedging, albeit with a smaller reach. Where it struggles slightly is on stems/branches greater than c.20mm. Yes it does cut them, but on testing, it took a couple of sweeps to shape some wayward hawthorn branches and the cut was less “clean” than that achieved by it’s bigger brother.

And that really is it, for once again Bosch’s own blurb tells you precisely what this hedge cutter excels at, namely “lightweight and well balanced hedge trimmer for trimming smaller hedges”. For such use, you’d be hard pressed to find a better built, better performing cutter in the market. Ergo, whilst I still would have invested the extra money to buy the bigger cordless version, for half the price, the Easycut is an easy 5 star award winner, offering excellent value & superb performance, as long as your hedge is not a mix of bramble, hawthorn and hedging like mine!

    What more could you wa
For a non-professional hedge trimmer, I think this Bosch covers all the basics and covers them quite well.

The size is about right, light enough to cover most garden hedges without causing too much hand/arm strain and powerful enough to cut through some quite thick branches. I would estimate about the circumference of my little finger.

Not too noisy so no neighbours complaining on a Sunday morning and with the Bosch name I have expectations of long durability. I am not sure there is anything else to be expected at this price point.

    Better than advertised.
This hedge cutter is being rather under-sold! There – you don’t get that very often in an Amazon review. Firstly the build quality is excellent, far better than the cutter it is replacing, also marketed a for ‘smaller hedges’. That one was really for postcard sized urban settings. This one could easily handle larger jobs, and has. None of this level of product can do the work of those used by professional arborists and the like. However, it can definitely get through finger thick branches of hedging or equivalent. Just do not expect the same on the same sized tree foliage!

The 45cm blade length is part of the product’s secret. The blade also seems particularly sharp. (For which it has a standard heavy duty plastic sheath). The electric motor is also just that little bit more powerful than many equivalents. Otherwise it has a very standard safety system whereby you have to have pressed down with both left and right hand for it to function. The cable is also of a high standard and more robust than one would expect. Overall, the package leaves competitors in the shade!

    Bosch quality, but faulty electrics
One name you can rely on for power tools is Bosch. From lawnmowers to shredders to powered screwdrivers, the range always delivers.

This is no exception. You could not be more pleased with a purchase than with this range. Balance is perfect, with a chunky handle to hold onto, and, at least with the 45, the weight is manageable. There is a safety button, plus large trigger buttons on the handle, and the only thing it lacks is a battery operation.

The 45 is described as for a small garden, but what that really means is, for small jobs, such as trimming back the odd bush, not for a 100m hedge! For these, it excels, now the rain has stopped and I can at last try it out.

I have but one criticism, not enough to reduce my rating below 4.9/5. The manual is vague about oiling the blades, but, yes, you should.

Edit: I do not take kindly to equipment that trips my RCDs. This did so, and all power went off. I am reducing the rating to 1*.

What can I say, this hedge trimmer is great!

I made the mistake years ago by buying the biggest hedge trimmer with a huge reach as I assumed it would be better, this was a big mistake, with size comes weight and it made trimming my huge hedge a nightmare, it probably took a a day for my back to recover after sorting my hedge out.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA great corded trimme
    What is it?
The Bosch EasyHedgeCut 45 is the baby of the EasyHedgeCut range with a corded 420watt motor blade length of 45cm and 16mm tooth spacing, designed to trim smaller sized hedges.

While its bigger brother EasyHedgeCut 18-45 has larger tooth spacing to tackle slightly large hedges, it’s a cordless trimmer with a dry weight of 2.3kg. With a battery pack fitted it’ll be heavier than the 45 (16)’s 2.6kg weight, making our corded model the lighest operating trimmer in the range.

    How is it?
In my experience of trimming our garden hedges, the cordless ones have an advantage of being free from cords being accidentally snagged or cut, but they often feel unbalanced, heavy on the motor side. They also deteriorate in performance due to relying on the battery capacity, so recently I’ve been looking into more corded variants.

Out of the box, I can see that the trimmer has a short EU plug molded in and then the main orange cable which has a UK plug for us to connect in. This makes packing away much more easy as there’s no copius amount of coiling up required, the trimmer can be stowed away while the orange cable can be put away in a box.

This does feel light and balanced which gives me more of an even distribution across my body when trimming. Its ergonomic design is well made so it’s not tiresome to hold for extended periods and works well regardless of being left/right-handed. The 420watt motor is punchy, even though they say this model is ideal for smaller hedges, it acts like an angry puppy so it allows you to make good progress and glides really well. The corded variant offers consistent power so this is something I can clearly rely on.

    Conclusion/Verdict?
I honestly think this model punches well above its waist in terms of performance. Recommended.

Lightweight, manoeuvrable and easy to use hedge cutte
The first thing my brother commented on when seeing this Bosch electric hedge cutter was that he would be able to easily get another cable if he cut it this time; he managed to cut the cable of his old hedge cutter.

The way this hedge cutter is designed is that you plug the longer cable into a short cable need the handle and blades; it would be nigh on impossible to cut the short cable, but if you cut the long cable then it would be easy enough to purchase a new one/replacement from Bosch.

The blade length of the hedge cutter is an impressive 45cm and the hedge cutter is very lightweight and as a result very easy to use and manoeuvre. It made short work of a bushy shrub in the back garden.

My brother is very pleased with this product and says he is happy to recommend. He thinks the price point (64.99 at time of review) is very reasonable too.

Seem good but why the euro to UK adapter?
Due to the recent bad weather these haven’t been used in anger yet so the review is purely on first impressions
First thing its the are pretty light and maneuverable in hand but that is then impeded by the strange and very bulky euro 2 pin to UK 3 pin plug adapter that is about 10 – 15cm away from the handle.
This plug adapter doesn’t appear to have any water resistance as the 2 pin just slots in and friction holds it in there is no cover or cap. Now in most cases this wouldn’t be an issue but sometimes moisture can be a little inside our hedge and this adapter is heavy enough to go through the outer branches so its a concern to me that the lack of obvious IP on this connector could lead to water ingress
This is the 45mm length blade and you can see the length difference from my current 60cm set which I go for the reach for trimming the tree and wide 1m hedge
So the bosch will require much more reaching but comparing hand in hand is much more easy to control – something to think about if you don’t have a lot of arm or upper body strength
In test there was an increasing amount of arcing from the motor visible when stopping but this is the same on my current set along with strong electrical burning smell which is pretty common for new electric trimmers
I think this will be a good set for the smaller trees as it has a good cutting width and will allow closer control on climbing plants etc so the trade off in blade length is probably worth it
My only reason for knocking off a star is the strange choice of 2 to 3 pin adapte

The Bosch hedge cutters make light work out of a tough job.
I hate trimming the hedge I’ve inherited from previous owners but it does provide privacy from other neighbours. It’s so hard to do with with clippers I bought I ended up with blisters and an aching back.
The Bosch clippers cut through the hedge like a hot knife through butter. Taking a fraction of the time and effort just have to collect clippers when done.
Never going to give this up now and don’t actually mind doing the job now.

Lightweight, easy to use, no problem with wires. So far, it’s pretty good. It’s lighter than I thought. The grip feels comfortable to hold and you can work easily, balanced and safe. With a 420 watt motor, this hedge cutter can easily break through smaller hedges, and its diamond sharpening blade ensures perfect cut and finish. But be careful of thicker hedges because they will get stuck in them.

Not too heavy, sturdy, electric trimmer, deal for medium/light shrubs, climbing plants, etc.
I am delighted with this trimmer. We have a bigger hedge trimmer with a blade about 100mm/4″ longer but we can ‘t use that any more as it’s very heavy. This one is just right for trimming shrubs, it I s sturdy but not too heavy and it cuts through lavender well, trims climbing plants, neatens laurel, heathers, euonymus, etc. so I can keep the garden tidy again! The tip at the end stops the cutter from damaging the fence when I am trimming up to it, which is very helpful. My husband is left handed, I am not, but we can both use this as the switches are in the middle. Even on steps I can lift this to do the higher parts of plants so it is really useful. The blade is long enough to reach down the side of shrubs that do not have space for me get between them, so that helps too. The cable length is able to be extended with an outdoor extension lead if required.
I can recommend this for all light trimming work. We used to have a very thick, tall hawthorn hedge, and I would not recommend it for that heavier work, but thankfully we don’t have that hedge any more and this trimmer is ideal for our middle-sized garden.

Fantastic Bosch hedge cutters. We cut my grandads hedges this weekend and because this bade is so long 45cm it took absolutely no time at all. My grandad was very happy and said he cannot believe how light this is even though it’s a 420w motor, yes it’s only 2.6kg and I said it’s not like the old ones Bosch have made them as light as they can but still great quality and cut perfect. Great price at 65 grandad says it’s a bargain and brilliant value for money in his opinion and I agree. Make sure you do clean the blades after every use and lubricator on the blades will make it last a lot longer.

    A lovely piece of gardening.
Bosch are considered by many to be the market leaders in electric garden equipment and that is further confirmed by this latest offering.

The 45cm 420 W lightweight cutter is easy to use and has excellent maneuverability. It is well packed and the instructions are good. Great caution must be taken when handling it as it can do serious harm if mis- handled. A sturdy pair of leather gardening gloves can save a lot of grief. Likewise you should always be aware of the position of the power cable …it is very easy to cut it and spoil your whole day.

Other than those I’ve mentioned the cutter does not have any vices so if you take care of it it should give
    years of good service.

I bought this to replace a 15 year old Black and Decker which had finally given up the ghost. It is a nice enough cutter, but the blade size is the same as the old one however the cutter weighs enough extra to really notice it for long reach work.

However, it has one little design fault (or maybe two):- Where the blade shaft enters the main body there is a hole and material such as wood chips can enter the gear box. For the first time today, a chip large enough to jam the gears got in and the machine came to a halt. Now we come to the second design fault (IMO) two of the housing screws are of a rather unusual type which fortunately I happen to posess but most folk would not and so could not dissemble the body to look for problems. However I did, discovered the chip jammed in the gears and removed it so that my hedg trimmer became a happy bunny again.

Golden Review Award: 57 From Our UsersBrilliant Bosch bush trimmer Bosh💥
Well the wife asked me to trim the bush in the garden, she usually lets it get out of control and I’ve always had to use a jungle knife to make it neat but it can make your wrist ache. This year as we are in lockdown and her bush was getting out of control blocking out the light I decided that I needed a bush trimmer and what better make than Bosch. This Bosch bush trimmer is amazing it’s light, versatile and sharp and certainly trimmed the bush perfectly. Now when you open the back doors you can see a lovely trimmed bush. I recommend the Bosch Bush trimmer and now I’m looking forward to keeping the bush nice and trimmed like the ones in Hollywood.

We have only cut 3 hedges but this seems great. I don’t think it would cut through thickish branches – it’s probably not meant to – but is doing a good job of our twice-a-year privet cut.

Never used one before. Relieved to see even someone as tiny as me can handle it. Won’t help with stumps and branches, but great with offshoots. Great that you need to keep both red buttons pressed for it to work. Nice, large handle. Decent size cable.

    Worth staying with.
This is my second Bosch AHS 45-16 I loved the first one and used it for seven years on my two hedges. I caught the wire on something and cut it quite badly and knew it was to bad to try repairing and after seven years of excellent use I certainly couldn’t complain. When I looked for a new one I was tempted by another make that was cheaper, big mistake, and I returned to the one I know and have always been happy with. I am as impressed with this one as ever and I am really fussy about my hedge. This one, like the previous one, does an excellent job and is lightweight and easy to use and my hedges are back to looking very good indeed.

    Cuts hedges!
At a reasonable price, this machine does it’s job with the minimum of pain. Blade is long enough to work quickly, but not so long as to be unwieldy. Not too much vibration, and not too heavy. As it is a Bosch I would expect it to last well, but early days for that. You have to use two hands to work it, so safe against cutting stray fingers off, and the cable colour contrasts well with the hedge. It was delivered just in it’s flimsy original box, with a label stuck on, but nothing was lost or damaged. Sadly it doesn’t stop my hedge from growing, though, so nearly time for a second outing!

I re-ordered this as I went through the wire on the last one!!! survived to tell the tale and didn’t realise it has a safety feature that covers that issue!!! lightweight as I’m a woman and strong enough to go through fairly thick branches, happy with the purchase once again.

As other reviewers have said, the potential for cutting the cable on this model is pretty high. Need to wrap the cord around your wrist or hand before pressing the trigger. This solves the issue but need to learn the habit.

Cuts though a pretty thick hedge with ease

Seems to be a good trimmer but not happy with the condition I received it in. If this had been a gift for someone I would not have been able to give it with the condition of the box. Also very disappointed with the flimsy cover for the blades that comes with it. As you can see from the pictures it is very inadequate and would have expected better from a brand like BORSCH. It has a slit along the entire length that both ends are open. I actually took the cover from my old flymo hedge trimmer which has a solid cover which screws the cover into place. Luckily it’s fits and screws in place on this trimmer too.

Cuts hedges really well (and really quickly).
Never used a hedge trimmer before. Plug in, switch on, slice away, ten minutes later lovely tidy hedge. Does an excellent job. The longer blade may have helped on the top, but the shorter one (this one) is probably easier to manoeuvre on the sides. Really pleased with it – vaguely considering turning pro if hedge clipping is this easy!

I have a high dense laurel hedge that was cut back quite severely with a bush cutter last year. They tackled the hedge really well and I’m very pleased with the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 118 From Our UsersSpeeds up gardening
I bought the Bosch AHS 45-16 Electric Hedge Cutter to speed up the gardening especially when it comes to trimming some of the larger bushes in our garden.

The AHS 45-16 is good, when used within its limitations. It is not a chainsaw, it is a trimmer, so if you try to use it to cut thick branches, guess what, it’s going to get stuck and come up short. To trim larger bushes it is great, it’s quick and relatively easy to handle, the safety switch configuration works well.

My only complaint of this type of item is that there is always a chance of nicking the power cable and manufacturers really need to give some thought to safe cable routing and around the operator. I tend to sling the cable over my shoulder, but there must be a better way of doing this and I feel that the manufacturers of such items should give this some thought and this isn’t a unique problem to the AHS 45-16, but something you become acutely aware of when using the item.

I needed a new hedge trimmer to cut back invasive climbers that had grown over a high fence. It’s light enough to reach and cut through all of it quickly. I’ve had a trimmer before which needs 2 hands on the handle and the trigger so I find it gives more control. I also will be getting it back out next spring, before the birds take up residence, to cut back my pyracantha. It needs something tough and this will do the job. I chose a cabled trimmer as I find the battery ones lose power quickly and I’m really slow. Just keep control of the cable!

Bosch AHS-16; I have used this item only the once and so far all is fine; It is a lot lighter than any hedge trimmer I have previously used, It does not feel powerful but cuts away slowly and gets the job done; I find it quieter than my older trimmers probably due to new generation of motor prohibition rules which is in all our best interest to protect the planet.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersA beginner review: cord is too short, tad heavy, some vibrations. Does its job.
I’m a beginner at this kind of gardening, but in our new garden I needed to do some heavy remodeling after the previous tenant let it go wild.

As soon as the hedge cutter arrived with his compact sturdy box, I’ve plugged it in and I faced the first problem.
The cord is too short (around 10m I’d say).

I was nicely surprised about the plastic cover that keeps the blade safe when the trimmer is not in use.

After retrieving a cable reel I was good to go. Some plants are cut like butter, but if they hide some thicker branches, you’ll feel it!
I’d say the 16mm thick ones are really the limit.
Lots of vibrations coming from the motor and once you’ll turn it off, you really will have a strange feeling in your hands.
Even if it’s a 420w motor, it’s still quite quiet (on the box it says 92dB), and with a 2.5kg weight it’s alright for shorts jobs.

You need 2 hands to start cutting; one holding the pad under the handle, and the other pushing the pad at the base of the blade.
    I’d say it’s well balanced.

Do wear gloves when using it and some glasses for protection!

We purchased this on a lightning deal as our previous trimmer was rendered completely unusable due to a fault that had developed after continuous use. I found the trimmer to be extremely versatile, lightweight, and efficient for cutting a variety of hedges with ease. I would personally recommend you purchase an extension cable as the cable is quite short (you can pick these up for less than 5 on Amazon) aside from this the trimmer is ideal for reaching hard to reach areas in the garden.

It is great for smaller gardens and hard to reach areas up high on the hedges/behind fences etc. My only gripe is that it will not cut through anything thicker than a pencil. I am glad to have it though. I just wish I didn’t have to get a different tool out to do the thicker bits. It is a handy tool to have around though and does the job. Just be sure to be extremely careful when using it. You could very easily chop through a cord or your finger (or someone else’s!). There are buttons for both hands that have to be pushed for it to work but still be careful.

Purchased for a lightweight trimmer for my wife for small hedges and perfect size and weight for the job. First one came with a scuff on the cable and she could see the blue wire showing immediately on opening so filled the return form in within an hour and a replacement came the very next day.. extremely good system and service.. The second one also came with a rough scuff on the cable in one place similar to the original but not exposing the inner wires so accepted it. It appears a problem in manufacture.

I have never felt so manly AND so creative at the same time. Admittedly it’s the “creativity” born of the chaos of destruction, but it still counts, right?
Yes, you might look at it and think, “45cm? That doesn’t seem long enough, there are 60cm options available…surely that’d be much more manly?” and you’d not be wrong. But my missus says what I’ve got is ample, and she thinks anything more would be too long.

It’s reduced hours of work with a pair of shears AND loppers to mere minutes. Sure, I still need the loppers for the thicker branches, at least until I’m allowed a chainsaw, but those are few and far between.

Arrived sooner than scheduled and put to use straight away. Cutting our hedge has become a pleasure. The only problem is making sure the cut is in line with the intended finished hedge edge as it is very easy to go deeper than intended.
Light, well balanced and gives confidence in operating. Of course the bigger stuff requires loppers or saw.

I got this to replace my old 45cm Black and Decker which died on me. I’d say this one is as good, if not better, for trimming. I also have a Bosch Pro with a 70 cm blade and wider teeth for the tougher cutting back. In comparison with that the smaller machine does seem less well balanced – the larger one has a better front grip which you can hold on the top, left side or right side, which allows you to ‘lift upwards’ easily when cutting up the front of a hedge. I found the 45 rather less easy to manoeuvre as you can only grab the front handle from the top. On the other hand it is much, much lighter. I would recommend this for light to medium work. I found the cable rather short.

Very impressed indeed with the performance of this hedge cutter. I’ve used many different types from petrol to cordless and electric, also many different brands and I would say this is the best. I find it’s not too heavy and it’s compact and balanced, the blade isn’t too long. Reasonable length of lead but obviously an extension lead will be needed in most cases. I have a 100 foot garden with 5 large fir trees along one side cut like a hedge, I have just used the cutter and it has taken me 15 minutes to trim and tidy up the untidy bits sprouting out of the trees ( I was just quoted 240 for someone to do this for me), needless to say I’m very impressed with this tool and strongly recommend it. I have had this hedge cutter around nine months and the only bad thing I can say about it, is the power cord is too short . I have a tiny garden and I have to use a extension power lead which is very annoying, I did not have to do this with my Flymo hedge cutter. However, it is a very good product and I hope it last longer than my flymo, which lasted 8 long years until I dropped it and it stopped working! Very happy with this purchase even though it is cheaper than the price I paid last year.

I had a very similar model to this which lasted over 10 years of infrequent use and finally gave up the ghost probably due to a bit of mistreatment by me. So I bought this off amazon. It’s perfectly fine for a large/medium sized urban garden. We have lots of quite mature shrubs/bushes as well, of course, as a hedge. Cuts them fine. The only thing I did, as soon as it came, was to attach the old power cord onto the new one to make it longer…as my garden is long. you can obviously use an extension lead. So it cuts hedges and it’s made by bosch…Bosch hedgecutter; does the job

I chose this hedgecutter for 2 reasons. Firstly, I have a fondness for Bosch products as I feel they are good quality and, in my experience, long-lasting. Secondly, having read the reviews, it seemed perfect for my requirements. It’s everything I expected. I was confident that I would be able to use it easily, but asked a friend to try it for me in the first instance, as I felt a little tutorial wouldn’t hurt. After trimming a few shrubs, my friend said the hedgecutter was a delight to use, and not at all heavy. I too, from a female perspective, am happy that it’s not a heavy machine. I also bought the Bosch lubricant on the recommendation of others, and once the trimming was done, I cleaned the cutter and gave it a quick spray of lubricant before putting it away. Delighted !

Used this today for the first time and it worked wonders on a large Leylandii that was growing sideways (having been topped) and assaulting me everytime i went into the garden. It’s now nice and neat 🙂 Be warned though that these are powerful enough to cut through a metal chain link fence, as i found out accidentally, so be careful with it. My old trimmer (same model) was OK until the hand grip kept sticking, making it very dangerous to use. So I’m hoping this one will be better and last longer. I can find no mention of guarantee – is there one? It’s not what I would call lightweight but I knew that because of the old one. I only have limited experience of using these (around 20 minutes all told) but while they were working they were excellent. Made very short work of the leylandii in my garden.

However, like a cock, I cut through the lead by accident (I had thought I was being ultra careful). Brillantly though, the accident did not cause my death as the safety features worked (as I would have dreamed) and spared me from a shocking, burned-dog-hair-smelling demise.

OK so “A cut above the rest” is a bit of a corny title. It has to be said its true. This Bosch Hedge cutter is just great and I find it hard to criticize its design or capability to do the job it was intended for. I have never owned a electric cutter before, thought I could make a much nicer job of trimming the few bushes I have in my garden. Its fairly light to handle, cuts with ease and used with care very safe. I nearly purchased a much inferior make and even looked at 2nd hand, but with Amazons amazing deals buying new was only a few pounds more. I Would recommend this cutter as I would be surprised if you could get any better results by paying more. A few reviews comment the cable is to short but I found this not to be a problem when using a extension reel. Don’t wait 18 years like me to buy one, buy with Bosch confidence today.
