This is definitely a well made jacket and although it hasn’t been cold enough since i got it to properly demonstrate its capabilities I’ve been able to try the various temperature settings and it really is effective – looking forward to a nice cold day now. Without the heating function it still functions well as a gillet and has good sized pockets and a strong zip.
It is not supplied with a battery, which given its price is surprising.

Overall it’s very comfortable and fits nicely, the quality seems really good and what I would expect from a top brand like Bosch.
It’s very warm which means staying outdoor for some DIY stuff or walking the dog in winter will be a lot more enjoyable.
I am sure that anyone working outside could find it very comfortable and warm too.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Users: Top Tip : Check if your power tools have a compatible battery. This could potentially save you a lot of money.

: At 143.03, at the time of writing,

    This :

: Bosch Professional Heated Hoodie GHH 12+18V XA (inc. USB Charging Adapter GAA 12V-21, Without Rechargeable Battery, in Cardboard Box)

Looks to be a top of the range, warm, and stylish, professional hoodie.

    But…
    Is it any good?
    Is it good value?
Will I get a lovely cup of tea , at any point during this review?
And possibly even a biscuit ?
Well… the answers to these, plus perhaps, one or two, extra, questions, we might accidentally stumble across, during the course of my meandering, and often erratic, review, we should take a closer look… …

    Packaging :
It arrives in a lovely, shiny, professional, retail ready box.
The level of packaging is not excessive, or profligate, and is just enough to keep the product safe, and out of the box in good condition.
It makes a very good first impression.

    Recycling :
Most of the packaging can be recycled, including the inner contents.

    Contents :
Out of the box, and the contents are easily catalogued:
1 x Bosch Professional Heated Hoodie GHH 12+18V XA
    1 x USB charging adapter GAA 12V-21
    Very nice.
It does not include a battery though.
You will have to source a compatible battery yourself, to get the heated element of the hoodie to operate.

    Build Quality :
The build quality is very nice indeed.
It feels chunky, well put together, and solid.
It feels, and looks pretty durable.
There are no visible flaws, no ragged edges, no loose stitching, and no gaps.
It all looks very professional indeed, with all the junctions being beautifully finished.
It’s all nicely done, and looks the business.

    Features :
The “hoodie” is actually more of a gilet, than a hoodie.
It has short sleeves, a zip up front, and no hood.
That is where I got the evidence I needed to call it out as not being a hoodie.
    No hood, you see.
With analytical skills like this, I expect one of the big tech giants will be after my services soon, so enjoy my reviews while you can, before I am whisked off, and instated by Amazon, as “Chief of Spotting Things, and Pointing Out Stuff” (CoSTaPoS).
It is a catchy wee job title, and one that I expect will pay a lot.

The gilet is a good size, and fits with plenty of wiggle room.
It has plenty of storage pockets, with enough stashed around the gilet to keep everything needed.
Remember that the battery, which will not be a small one, will need to be stashed in one of the pockets, so plan pocket space carefully.

The jacket is wind, and waterproof.
Though unless you wear a waterproof undergarment, you will get wet arms.

The jacket is heated, and once you plug a suitable battery in, it starts to distribute heat around the body of the jacket.
It has one large control button that lights up different colours depending on how high you set the heat.
One long press sets the heat to the highest setting, on red level.
A subsequent press sets the heat to the mid-range level, which is green.
Another press, and it moves to blue which is the lowest power setting available.
It is a clunky control system, and one that could be improved on.
    Especially given the price.
    More on that later though.

The lack of battery might be an issue, especially if you are not into DIY.
DIY fans might be in luck, as the jacket accepted my drill battery, saving me having to fork out for a new one.
    Brilliant.
It would be worth checking if you have a power source already in your toolbox.
If not, shop around Bosch’s power tools, and pick out one you need, and you will get a new toy, plus a new battery for your hoodie.
    Two birds with one stone.
And you can tell your wife how much money you saved, as you set up your new toy, sniggering slightly.

The jacket allows you to charge an item from the jacket’s power source.
A simple, yet very useful, function.
    A good idea.

    Set Up :
It requires no special setting up.

    Performance :
Wearing the jacket is very comfortable.
It kept me warm around my core.
My arms were fine, if a little chilly.
Turning the power on made my core even hotter, while not impacting on my cold arms.
I could pop my arms into the jacket for a quick blast of heat though.
Or just step back inside my house.
    Either worked.

    Down Sides :
No downsides were noted during testing.

    Value :
Value wise, this is not cheap.
    Far from it.
Especially given the extra cost of a potential new battery.
However, the value. and level of finish, is through the roof, with some seriously great product design, and manufacturing.
This, plus the heating mechanism makes this jacket a good proposition.
I would happily pay the asking price.

    Summary :
    Overall, this is excellent.
It is well designed, with some nice features, and some cool touches.
It is well put together, with a good overall build quality, and some good details.
It is pretty good value, and feels like a good buy.
I am a proud owner, and user, and I am happy to have had the privilege of reviewing it.

I think I can hear the sound of a kettle boiling…
    Ooh, lovely…

    Recommendation :
I do not hesitate to recommend it highly.
The jacket, and the cup of tea.

    Biscuit ?

I hope you enjoyed our time together .
Thank you for reading my review .

I originally had an older style Bosch heated jacket. I went with Bosch not because it was the ugliest, but because it was THE ONLY power tool brand that did not put the battery in your kidney, which is needed as a bus driver.

After 3 years the cable frayed, and Bosch had nothing on the market. I bought a Milwaukee vest, and the Milkwaukee vest feels much nicer, except for THE BATTERY IN YOUR KIDNEY. DeWalt, Makita, and Milwaukee all put the battery in your kidney.

I also tried one of the chinese 5v usb battery vests, but it lacked power.

I was happy Bosch reentered this market. I had a medium (100cm chest) jacket before, but the medium vest is smaller. Like I said, I think the Milwaukee is nicer looking, nicer feeling, but it’s rendered nearly useless by putting the battery in your kidney. So even though my Milwaukee is just fine, I am happy to buy this Bosch.

As the description states, there is no battery included. For the price however, you would expect for there to be one, as it’s just a normal jacket until the battery is bought. Fits well though and does not necessarily need the battery but then defeats the purpose of the jacket entirely.

Bosch professional heated vest arrived extremely well presented in the sealed cardboard box, would be a great gift idea.

The charging adapter and user guide were included.

I have it in size L, it was the only size available at the time of ordering.
My partner usually wears size XL and is about 182cm.
This vest is a tight fit for him.

Vest looks and feels well from a good quality light fabric.
It is made with attention to details – I like its logo.
    Stitching is neat and strong.
Zip works well and glides smoothly.

Very practical design with zippable side pockets of a generous size.

In order to heat up it needed battery, which had to be purchased separately.
I had matching battery in one of my Bosch rechargable screwdrivers.
Vest heats evenly and has three heat levels to choose from.
I like it the most on the warmest level.

The vest is perfectly usable without battery.

Excellent quality, but for the price – 143.22 I would expect it supplied with battery.

As you’d expect from Bosch this is a really good quality gilet, even without the heating function it’s very warm to wear, with loads of pockets and a comfortable fit.

It doesn’t include a battery so I was using my drills which is a 12V 1.5Ah (It also says it supports 10.8V), and it lasted for around 2 hours on the highest setting which is nice and toasty. This product listing mentions it supports 18V batteries, I can’t see that mentioned anywhere on the product and my Bosch 18V batteries are huge.

The heating element seems to be just around the middle of the jacket, but it works really well. You long-press the button to turn it on, then cycle between red (hottest), green (mid), and blue (lowest) with each subsequent press. The button stays lit which I did find slightly annoying, but it’s really well positioned on the left breast of the jacket.

The battery pack in the pocket is quite large, but there’s no real way around that, the holder itself is as compact as it could be, it also supports charging another device with a USB output which is a nice touch.

It also fits nicely under my other jackets, as it’s quite slim, so great for layering.

It’s pricey and you need to buy the battery separately, but it’s really great quality and should last a long time.

This is a heated workwear sleeveless jacket, which umfortunately,I have been unable to fully test out given that this product is supplied without the 12 Volt Lithium battery-that needs to be bought separately. Therefore,my review is going to focus on the comfort and quality of the garment and the price point of the product as well.I ordered the Large size in this.
I like this workwear jacket it fits me perfectly and is very comfortable to wear. The jacket isblack, sleeveless and features 3 external zipped pockets:two generously sized side pockets and a front left chest pocket. The jacket secures via a main zip that runs the length of the jacket. All 4 zips are black and have the Bosch logo on them and have a smooth flowing zip action. The Bosch logo is in red lettering and is also located in the front left chest area. The collar of the jacket has a hanging loop to hang up your jacket when not in use.On the inside is located another zipped pocket, which is supposed house the battery and charger. On the opposite internal flank is an open mesh pocket.Product is made in China and is suitable for low temperature machine washing once the battery/charging case is removed.
The garment is very well made,is comfortable to wear and feels durable-something that would appear to last a long time and feels warm even without the heated element.
As previously mentioned I have been unable to test the heated facility of this jacket as Bosch did not supply me with the lithium battery needed to charge this.Despite this,I am impressed enough to use this jacket at work and on the way to and from work as it looks stylish and a professional product.
Lets talk about cost at circa 135 this one very expensive sleeveless jacket and for that price you are still not even being supplied with a battery to charge this with. This is a very expensive price and I doubt I would spend that amount of money on this product,if I was paying for it -instead of receiving a complimentary for review purposes.
However, this is a well made product, one that I am going to award 4 stars for. Also, included with the product is the instruction manual and battery charger/adapter.
I hope you will find my review helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good workwear sleeveless jacket from Bosch
