    It works
Only used 1 cartridge so far and can say that it works, I have been using filtered water in my kettle for the past month and there is no limescale on the steel bottom at all, no need for descalling and the taste of water is good too. The Brita cartridges are a bit expensive though but the difference is noticeable so I’m happy to buy more in the future.

    Do the job quite well
Have used water filters for years not always the Brita maxtra type these are better than others. We live in an extremely hard water area and my black coffee would have a scum on top if I didn’t use them they are extremely easy to install and to remove. Usually need replacing every 3 weeks.

    Fantastic Value
Gross tasting tap water? Can’t afford to continue buying bottles of water all the time? A Brita Jug and Brita filters are definitely right for you!
They’re really easy to change and we personally choose to change our filter every month to ensure we have great tasting water from our Brita Jug. We only fill out kettle up with filtered water too (as recommend by the manufacturer) and we were surprised by the minimal amount of limescale build up compared to our old kettle that we filled up straight from the tap.

I’ve got to add, I’ve found Amazon to be the cheapest place in the UK to purchase these genuine filters from. I highly recommend picking up a 6 or 12 Pack for best value.

    Good for peace of mind
Have been using these filters for years. To some its probably a waste of money but its really for peace of mind. I cant tell any difference in colour or taste of the water afterwards. However after doing some research online, some people suggest scientifically it does make a difference.

    Makes tap water taste grea
16.99 on subscription for 6 is a fantastic price and better than buying bottles.
Since moving i hate the taste of my new tap water, purchased a jug and was actually very surprised that it does change the taste after going through the jug.
18mths later and still using the jug and as i use jug water for the kettle i have noticed my new kettle hasn’t got nowhere the amount of lime scale it normally would have.

Excellent and perfect fit, but expensive...
I was always using the original BRITA MAXTRA filter’s replacement, but lately the price has been increased a lot.. So, I decided to to try cheaper ones (a huge price gap), guess what, those cheap ones do not fit at all, bad design as the water comes from everywhere and of course the water taste changed..

Now, I found myself buying the original ones again, albeit expensive… but it worth it..

    The real deal!
There are cheaper Chinese made copies online, but to be honest, I’ve had my fill of thinking I’m saving money and then being disappointed by the quality of the cheaper goods. By buying cheap Chinese copies we are selling out our own industries and China is becoming very rich selling trash! So I’m happy to pay more for quality and to support Western businesses. These filters work perfectly as you would expect.

    Clearly better tea
I live in a hard water area and if it wasn’t for water filters my hot drinks would have a film layer on the surface. This is caused by higher content of minerals than soft water areas (eg, magnesium & calcium carbonate), that produces a visible layer of scum. It also ‘furs up’ the kettle.
With these water filters all I get is clear, great tasting teas.
Of course these filters only last 3 to 4 weeks before the film comes back, so buying a multi-pack works out cheaper.
There are other more expensive options like installing a water softener or moving to a soft water area, but for me and my tea, Brita will do.

    Clears hard wate
Cleared off 0.4ec from my hard water taps.

Pay for what you get – not the cheapest.

Other brands don’t taste the same – it’s similar to mineral water at the beginning then delves into a clean water taste but not as mineral.

Would love it to be more readily recyclable (currently Tesco offer in-store waste disposal).

Tried the non branded options and, in my opinion, feel like a waste of money in the long term. These last much longer (I use them for 2 cycles – personal choice) fit the jugs better and definitely make the water taste better and have completely removed the limescale build up in my kettle since I started filling it with filtered water.
Only reason for the one star off is the ridiculous price you have to pay for filtered water.

    Meets expectations
I am no connoisseur of fine water, but this definitely tastes better than tap!

I have noticed that the filter “reader/meter” whatever you want to call it seems to run more on time than particulates or anything in the water. It seems to be that I can use it constantly all day (filter water for my plants) and it not loose any “life”, but if I don’t use the filter/jug for a while it seems to just degrade on its own without me using it.

I don’t know, it’s a good filter, water tastes good, I’ll certainly keep buying these unless given a good reason otherwise.

    Cheaper Than the Brita Website
What can you say about these? Well, they are, of course, identical to those available on the Brita website, which strangely are so much more expensive. I don’t think these are value for money – I think they are a rip-off BUT that is not directed at the seller, just that the product is over-priced in the first place. How can they justify the price? However, these have always been expensive – another example of manufacturer selling you something and then making money hand over fist selling you essential consumables – think printer ink or coffee pods.

Necessary in a hard water area.
Cheaper than buying the filters in a hardware shop or supermarket. Have been using a Brita Water Filter jug for years as I live in a hard water area…. and you really need something like this in such places. This box of filters arrived promptly and are fair value. Each filter lasts about 4 weeks with average use, bearing in mind I fill my kettle from my jug a few times a day.

This product it’s the sweetspot for good wate
I seen from other brands mugs and filters which are more expensive, and they filter a lot more, but those are so expensive. And once filtered at that level, that water will not taste good.

I seen cheaper ones which does not even deserve to be mentioned.

However, this product it’s in the sweetspot.
It filters exactly as much as needed so the water still taste good, the price is not cheap but is not expensive and it’s from a reputable company.
Can’t complain about this product. It has all it needs in this budget range, and it actually overexceeds my expectations.

Filtered water tastes better and helps protect kitchen appliances.
For me, Multipacks of 6 Brita Matrix+ Water Filter Cartridges and jugs are the best value for money over time. The taste of tap water depends on where you live – locally my tap water is hard so the taste is probably improved too, my favourite niece is positive it tastes much better. I’ve used them for many years, mainly to help extend the life of my kettle and coffee-making machine to help slow down a build-up of limescale.

Had to restock these filters as I constant run out or forget or buy more, decided to just buy 12 of them, which given I have two filter jugs this will last me the year. Would recommend anyone just bulk order them as it’s easier to do so and cheaper. Doesn’t taste of anything as long as you rinse the filters out properly first before drinking

These are in fact genuine Brita products & its normal if they are slightly wet upon opening.
Genuine Brita filters for a good price and they do a super job filtering your water

    Be advised:

They will or may have moisture/dampness inside the packets or around the plastic casing this is normal as they are pre tested/primed and steam treated so residual water will be trapped inside before final packaging.

Also, they probably won’t have the word “Maxtra +” in blue printed on the sides as they are manufactured for different countries so may be plain white.

I had to contact Brita directly to get these facts as its not stated on packaging.

    These work grea
I got these before some off brand ones that I purchased didn’t fit my filter. These were more expensive and in my opinion not good value for money. They fit the filter easily, the instructions were easy to follow and I had no problem with them. They last 4-5 weeks as recommended on the box. I will say there’s way too much plastic and cardboard being used in this product and I do wish they’d sort that out as it isn’t needed.

Just how ‘pure’ the water looks and tastes!
I have had a Brita for some years now, but like all modern “gadgets” it found its way to the back of the cupboard. This year I have decided to make use of my bibs and bobs or dispose of them. The first to come out was the Brita. I now realise just how much difference it makes to our water, so now it is in constant use, and won’t be going back into the cupboard any time soon. I use the water for tea and coffee as well as drinking What a wonderful invention it is. The timer no longer works, but so what I make a note on my calendar and change the filter according to when it runs out. I wouldn’t be without it now!

You get what you pay for.
I’ve tried the unofficial filters and they just don’t cut it. They’re too slow to filter through and often don’t filter the last bit, do you end up pouring unfiltered cold water into your tea.
I use them for the kettle and water jug, stored in the fridge.
They’re expensive for what they are but worth it if you have hard water. You can stretch them out for longer usage than it states.

    Working fully to expectations
Although a few were included with our post-2020 Marella jug, once they needed to be replaced one of the products offered and claimed to be fully compatible with a variety of jugs including Brita’s Marella were a Chinese-made alternative that were less than half the price of Brita’s. As reviews appeared to all be positive, they were selected for purchased.

Once the last Brita refill reached the ends of its life, and one compatible cartridge was prepared by pre-soaking and then inserted into the jug. No water passed through within about 25-30 minutes; it normally takes about 7-8 minutes for a fill to pass through to the container below. There were no instructions included and nothing to clearly suggest that they may work with the older Marella but not its recent redesign (they are apparently significantly different). As far as can be seen, there was no way that they could work and they were packed for return.

Of course, these work correctly. The flavour of the water improves after a very few fills of the jug and that is maintained to the end; there is a very slight ‘metallic’ or ‘chemical’ hint in flavour at first.

Best to stay with what is know to work and not which is cheaper but unusable and therefore a waste of money.!

Was a bit dubious buy another brita as it used to take ages to filter the water when they first came out, but i am very happy with this purchase hence why i bought 6 more cartridges they filter so fast and the water tastes like bottled water- coming from a very fussy water drinker, i do NOT like any tap water but these are saving me a fortune and also the planet with less plastic bottles! Would recommend!

This was the best buy for us here at home
We buy these filters here in Northern Ireland and when we saw them on Amazon we were shocked at the price as these 15 filters will do us till next year and the reason you buying these is that either Tesco or Sainsbury sells them in packs of 3 and their bloody expensive, whereas we just paid for the full pack 15 and it worked out cheaper for us. I would rather buy the filters this way in bulk and save money than throwing money away as it is better to shop around and we seem to be buying more on Amazon than in the shops at their prices. I would recommend this bulk buy to any family as it works out cheaper in the end.

Water is the source of all life!
I purchased these BRITA MAXTRA+ water filter cartridges for my BRITA Style XL Water Filter.

These water filter cartridges are fantastic. I received a genuine product. The filters come in a BRITA branded box. Each water filter cartridge comes in its own BRITA branded packaging.

This multipack offers excellent value for money. On average, a water filter cartridge lasts for about 1 month, subject to how much you consume. I drink about 5-6 pints of water a day.

Given the importance of water and filtered water in a hard water area, BRITA is a sensible choice. The product works out better when compared to buying bottled water. There is also less plastic and to my mind it tastes better too!

Some people complain that the BRITA MAXTRA+ have a sharp bitter taste. I too have experienced this. Why? It’s complicated. But I’ll try to answer this the best I can. I will also give you a good tip on how to address this.

    1. A BRITA MAXTRA+ water filter can remove up to 20% more limescale. This can make the water taste sharp, if you are not used to purified water.

    2. A BRITA MAXTRA+ water filter uses carbon to reduce the number of chemicals and particles in the water. This too, can give the water an unpleasant taste.

Carbon contains many tiny dimples and crevasses. This results in trapped chemicals and particles within the filter. This can alter the taste of drinking water. When you first buy your BRITA MAXTRA+ water filter cartridge, there are many small holes which contain air and carbon dust.

Thus, you must flush your filter several times to purify the filter. Doing this will improve the taste so much.

Each time I replace a BRITA MAXTRA+ water filter cartridge, I take 10 simple steps to achieve the best result:

    01. Remove and recycle the old BRITA MAXTRA+ cartridge.
    02. Give the jug a good scrub, inside and out.
    03. Leave it to dry.
    04. Insert a new BRITA MAXTRA+ water filter cartridge.
    05. Ensure the BRITA MAXTRA+ cartridge clicks into place.
    06. Pour water into the jug.
    07. Wait for the water to filter through.
    08. Pour the water away or water your plants with it, etc.
    09. Repeat steps 6 and 8 — 5 to 6 times.
    10. Press the reset button on your jug.

If you still experience a very minor after taste, don’t worry, this is very short-lived. You can also try a bonus step and leave the water in the jug for 15 minutes on the final rinse.

You can even give your brand new BRITA MAXTRA+ cartridge a little shake, add it to a bowl of lukewarm water. Leave the cartridge to soak for 15 minutes. Then follow the 10 steps above.

If you follow my steps, you will soon enjoy the freshest and purest water. Delicious!

If, despite these steps, you cannot enjoy the water, you may need to invest in an ‘Reverse Osmosis System’! But, try BRITA first, most of you will not be disappointed.

If this review and my tips helped, please raise a glass of water and press the helpful button below.

Improved taste and far fewer impurities.
Ever since I had purchased my first filter kettle, drinking tea or coffee anywhere that has no filtration just isn’t the same.

Apart from impurities that are removed from filtration, you see a tangible difference in the amount of limescale buildup in your kettle. It takes way longer for that buildup to get to a point that you need treat it and that also translates into greater efficiency of your kettle and, better tasting tea and coffee.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersGreat tasting water!
Living in a very hard water area, a decent water filter is a must – particularly to prevent your electric kettle ‘furring’ up.

We recently upgraded to an 8.2L Brita filter tank and bought these filter cartridges to go with it. They work a treat and the water tastes great.

These filter cartridges are readily available at a reasonable price – a 6 month supply costing about 20 on Amazon. To get the best performance from them, carefully follow the preparation instructions before normal use.

Compatible cartridges are also available at a lower cost. However, I have no idea as to their quality or longevity. My previous experiences with cheaper alternatives were not particularly good…..

    Water just got interesting!
Having a water filter has made an incredible difference to my cuppa! I used to be somewhat sceptical about the claims made for filtered water, but not any longer. The tap water in my area had seemed okay until I compared it with the filtered water from a family member’s tap. I couldn’t understand why their tea always tasted so much better than my own, even though I switched to the same tea! Then I got this water filter and the difference suddenly became clear. I’ll never make tea from ordinary tap water again; why would I when the improvement in flavour is so remarkable?

These Brita Maxi plus filters last about six weeks. Once again they are brilliant. But best of all is the way Amazon conducts business. They have no near rival; it is no wonder they do so well. I love my Amazon!

Great value for money & good produc
Works perfectly with my Brita product. I use the 2.4L Marella fridge water filter jug. I think these filters are great value for money. Each one lasts a month! You just remove the old one, bin it (unsure about recycling) add the new one and reset the percentage mode on the jug itself so it starts the month countdown. Just remember to always pour out the first jugful to go through the new filter! I believe this is recommended so you don’t get any bits etc that might be in the new filter in your water.

Decent Quality, Check box 1 missing!
I always buy Brita filters as I find these taste the best in comparison to other brands I’ve tried.

One this occasion, I bought these filters and then found another on in my cupboard. So used that before opening this new box. When I came to get another, I noticed that the box looked like it had been opened before but was glued down everywhere (i failed to notice this when they were delivered as I just put them straight in the cupboard. When I opened it, there was only five filters rather than the six I had paid for. Unfortunately I have just realised I’ve missed the return window by 4days. A little bit cross as these are by far the most expensive filters.

NOTE FOR FUTURE: Check contents when they arrive rather than waiting till you need them just in case.

Having said that filters are decent quality and last approx 1 month (used twice a day on adverage) Towards the end of the month I can notice that they are coming to the end of there life.

    Brilliant Filters.
Brilliant water filter cartridges for our Maxtra jug. Very quick to filter each jug of water , 5 minutes or less. Unlike a brand of cheaper Italian filters that were taking 20 minutes upwards to filter ( and yes these were installed correctly as per instructions).
Brita filters may be more costly than many generic ones available but they filter the water very quickly, you get what you paid for. Plus being a pensioner I don’ have time to hang about whilst a filter cartridge decides to filter at a rate of 1 drip at a time.

Brita have done a splendid marketing job in completely confusing the public with their cartridge naming. I’m delighted to clarify that these MAXTRA + (PLUS) cartridges replace their previous MAXTRA (Non-Plus) designated cartridges perfectly!

The old ring-pull design has been replaced with side clips and these work much better than the old ring-pull cartridges.

I’ve successfully replaced the previous generation cartridges in two old devices:-

    Morphy Richards – Brita kettle

Breville – Brita – One cup type kettle

Easy to install, however I’d say that the product itself is not that cheap but it is worthy. When I chose the dispenser I have done it before looking at filter replacement. Easy to set in the filter and easy to take it out.

What can I say about these filters? I’ve used them since the Maxtra first came out and just buy the pack that offers me the best price per filter when I need them.
I use the jug with a meter on the top which shows me when to replace the filter which I think is the best way to do it, though you can tell when the filter is coming to the end of its life because you start to get traces of scale inside your kettle.
Though hard water possibly makes stronger tea and coffee, filtered water makes much them clearer with no scum on the top. It also removes any unpleasant taste which you can get from unfiltered tap water.

    Genuine is better ...
We have been using Brita water filters for many years and the difference is genuinely noticeable, particularly in terms of vastly reduced limescale build up in the kettle. There is no residual flavour in the filtered water and they filter a jugful of water in a reasonable time.

We previously tried a few other ‘compatible’ filters, the performance of which ranged from poor (a noticeable increase in limescale accumulation in our kettle compared to a genuine Brita filter) to absolutely appalling (clearly not filtering the water at all and leaving an unpleasant taste), so wouldn’t waste money on anything else now.

I have tried cheaper ones to see the difference and none compare to the original filters. Excellent water filters
I have been using water filters for years to filter my tap water. I put these in my kettle as its a filter kettle. It’s easy to install. Once you get them out of the packet, just dip them in water and give them as swish and thrn run water though them a few times. My tap water seems quite chlorinated and it removes this quite well. It also reduces limescale buildup a lot. It tends to suggest you swap them once a month but I tend to use them for longer until I notice the flavor of water is off. I have always trusted this brand and they are very good quality.

I’ve been using Brita filters since 2 years now. Water tastes really good. Less calc in the kettle. I use the water from it to all sorts of food preparations. Great value for money. Each filter lasts for 4 weeks! 6 pack will last for 24 weeks which is slightly less than 6 months. Imagine how much plastic I would have left behind if I drink about two 1.5l bottles of water a days. Not to mention water used for food preparation and water drunk by the rest of the family.

Always the best but opening hard to slide.
Brita is always good. Decided to invest some more money into the new filters and a bigger container after getting new glass kettle. I was shocked when I’ve seen boiling water which was milky in colour rather than clear. I had to descale my new kettle after a week! Now, when boiling tap water previously filtered through Brita, it is perfectly clear and coffee and tea tastes much much better. The small jug we had in the kitchen got the new Brita cardridge and will be use to filter the water for the kettle. The new big Brita container will be useful for filtering and chilling the drinking water. The only downside to this container is the opening on the top lid as I find it extremely hard to slide it to open and also the tap which could be slightly more forward (linger). Still highly recommended.

There is no doubt about the quality of the item. Even after so many years and with increased water hardening, Brita continues to outperform. Water tastes so much better and our appliances have a longer shelf life thanks to Brita.

It has no doubt slightly increased in price over the years, but that is to be expected considering the nonsense that goes into our drinking water and the refusal by public authorities to filter the water before pumping it. I keep an eye out for offers and buy them en masse for the year.

Although its being said you should not test water with TDS meters I have checked that cheap replacements are just not doing anything whereas those genuine brita maxtra+ are removing half of dissolved solids from the water meaning from tap water 1509 s or 726ppm it has filtered water to the values of 711s and 355ppm (which might not always be good for us as it can remove precious minerals from it too but leaving it to the chemists ). Attaching images from the experiment. I will stay with maxtra + for now as I’m happy with no scale in the kettle and water tastes better.

Better taste than the previous version, much better than tap wate
They’re a little bit of a faff to get going, because of the rinse/fill/empty/fill/empty/fill procedure. I think water tastes a little better with these cartridges than with the previous version. The taste does seem to deteriorate slightly as you get towards the end of the 4 week use cycle, but I guess that’s only to be expected. Still much better than the tap water in this area, though.

Value for money, as far as Brita goes
It seems that Brita has reached the position of monopoly as far as water filter market goes and that’s not helpful to consumers!
You can tell when a filter depleted by the taste and appearance of the black tea and I am beginning to believe these filters don’t last as long as they did in the past. My other concern is that if these water filters do they job properly why do you get green algae forming in the filter jug?

Brita have made the new plus filters different so that the cheaper one’s don’t work.
I have used a water filer for years I have used a Brita most times. But i found the filers got expensive so I tried the ones that are not Brita as they are cheaper. And they did the job just as good and they saved a lot of money over the years. But I had to buy a new one this time as it was passed it sell by date fail on the top was not working .So I brought a new one which came with a Brita filter in it.When that ran out I put one of the cheaper filters in but it would not work .When I took it out I found out that Brita had changed the filters they had made the new product a plus so it was bigger and they had changed the bottom of the filters some that the cheaper ones don’t work.So I hope the company that makes the cheaper ones soon make one the same I also found out to my cost. That the little dail that broke on my old one I found one on Amazon after I had brought a new Brita I could have got a dail for a couple of pounds you live and learn.

Agitating in water doesn't solve the slow filter problem!
The latest design of the Brita water filter makes it much easier to remove the filter went spent, as you slip your hand underneath an area which lifts up and feels very firm and allows you to lift out the filter with ease as opposed to the old method where you had to lift up a plastic pull loop which sometimes broke off and made it very difficult to remove.

However, over the years the Brita filters have become noticeably slower to filter the water. I used to have this problem with an old make I used to use, and swopped to Brita filters which were really speedy. You didn’t even have to agitate them in water beforehand and there was no problem with the filtering of the water. Not so now as you can spend up to 10 minutes agitating them and removing bubbles and they still don’t filter well. I can only imagine that they are using a similar system to the old make of cartridges I used to use.

They are very good as regards the taste of the water and do last well, and the filtering carries on at the same slow speed and doesn’t stop filtering as some people have reported.

I shall probably carry on using them but I do wish they would address the issue of the slow filtering.

Highly recommend If you want to descale kettles and other machines less often.
Living in a hard water area I use the Brita Maxtra+ to filter water for use in my iron, kettle and coffee maker as well as making up squash. The filters can be very expensive but when purchased as a bulk buy, as with this item, they are considerably cheaper. Since starting to use these, nearly 2 years ago, I have had to descale my household items less often (every 2-3 months rather than monthly).

I have not particularly noticed a difference in taste with my tea/coffee but this is probably due to the fact I like both to be strong with very little milk!

    An addiction...
My wife loves a cup of Yorkshire Tea with Brita filtered water. Myself, I’m just happy for a good cuppa and don’t mind the merest hint of scale. Unfortunately, now Mrs. Pugh has us on the Brita filtered water, nothing else will quite do the job. I feel like giving a bill to my employers for introducing her to this drug of choice. However, even I am falling under the spell, which means having to buy these filters – costly, but necessary. This pack was superb value, almost the same as getting non-branded filters that last as little as half the time and now we are working from home (and I feel another book bursting out of my idiotic brain) liquid refreshment has never been so important. But, to borrow another popular advertising slogan, once you pop, you can’t stop. Now to see if I can train the dog to make a decent cup of the good stuff.

No Other Alternative for the Maxtra+ Size - You Have to Buy Genuine
We purchased a Brita water filter XL version, and unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any other cheaper 3rd party manufacturers for this size filter.

However, being Brita manufacturers, the quality is top notch and as expected.

There is definitely a noticeable difference in taste when the filter runs outside the change interval.
These fluctuate in price so keep an eye out and ensure to purchase the 6 pack when they are at a reasonable 20.

Great price on Amazon compared to any other supplier.

They fit our Tassimo coffee machine.
I bought this three pack of the Brita Maxtra filters for our Tassimo coffee machine. They fit easily and perfectly into the water container.

We live in a very hard water area and having the filtered water for our Tassimo is a real boon. It cuts down on the descaling and I am sure the coffee tastes better.

At the price of 10.50 for three cartridges, these are not too expensive in my opinion.

    Yummy
Does what it says on the packaging. I really enjoy the flavour of the water after changing the filter.

We usually do a tea test to tell when to change but looks like the recommended 4-5 weeks are about right.

Avoid buying these kind of filters from doggy places! There are so many places (like on other online marketplaces) where they sell fake ones. You can tell if it is fake if there’s no difference in taste. Been there.

    Hope this helps.

    Great Filters, I'm impressed
I rent an old flat that has plumbing from the dark ages, a mix of lead water mains and old copper pipes.
I’ve been here over a year so the pipes should be clear of the bits and pieces that came out of the cold taps when I first moved in, but I still get the occasional bit come through so I always fill a jug and check it before pouring it into my brita water filter, with out filtering the water tastes disgusting so I use it all the time, and as long as I chill it I can drink my water without wanting to throw up, it also protects my kettle from all the lime scale build up.
I can definitely recommend these filters.

I now only drink filtered water and no longer buy bottles water, meaning less plastic waste!
I also take my old cartridges to the local supermarket for recycling.
I only buy Brita because other filters leave residue at the bottom of the filter that then goes into your drink.
These filters also make the water taste alot better.

I’ve used Brita Maxtra Water Filter Cartridge for years, it’s a bit cheaper here on amazon so I keep buying. I use each for longer than one month, I renew it when limescale starts re-appearing in my kettle, that’s the sign when filter is too old, usually every 2 month. Using filtered water makes a huge difference especially in london where water is very hard and kettle full of limescale. I don’t get any limescale at all and also use filter water to rince my hair after schampoo, it’s so much softe

They are so easy to install, cheaper versions you have to submerge for 10 minutes etc, these are just a quick few seconds under running water then fill and empty three times so ready within minutes.
Water tastes clean and fresh just as you’d expect it to, and keeps limescale away from our kettle so they are perfect! Can’t fault!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBrita Maxtra+ the only filter that works
Top quality product, this is my second pack of six and had absolutely no problems with them at all. The water where I live is very hard and has a nasty chlorine taste which makes tea and coffee un drinkable so I purchased a Brita jug and six pack of Maxtra+ filters, that made the tea taste much better and as I live alone I keep them in the jug for two turns of the timer, never had the nasty taste back. When opening the pack you may notice that the filter is wet, this is normal as they are tested at the factory therefore you should purge the filter twice before using the water. The filter should snap into the jug and flow through the filter is quite slow which is normal as if the water passes through quickly then the filter is not installed correctly. Over all a quality product that could be a tad cheaper but having said that, they do the job perfectly. Finally only accept genuine Brita filters that come in branded retail packaging otherwise send them back.

Lovely fresh drinking water and clean kettle.
I haven’t used them in the past 2 years and now started again. Compared to old Maxtra filters they’re definitely longer lasting. But if you have an old timer on your filter, it will be running out before the filter cartridge needs to be changed.
Also, old filters didn’t actually last longer than 2 weeks for me, as I live in the very hard water area. But Maxtra+ works well.

Every bit as good as the old desig
These are brilliant. Yes, they have changed and no longer have a pull tab on the top, but I don’t find it’s any more difficult to remove theses as they have a grip in the top part. I have a bad grip and can remove them with no problem. Have seen other reviewers say about these clogging within a few days. I had one do this, but I just took it out and gave it a good shake, popped it back in and it was fine after that. I’m sure it’s because they have changed the filtration materials, it’s finer, so I’m sure that’s what causes this to happen. Ingredients were changed to make them more eco friendly then everyone slates them for it. Do you want eco friendly or filters filled with non recyclable materials? Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

Fast delivery of this water filtering essential
Four stars for water taste v. my favoured Romanian bottled water (not available). Good value at six for 20 and as I’ve used these for years, they’re easy to install. They’re probably easy for anyone who can spot whether it’s upside down or not and fits the jug. It’s a good idea to flush through a couple of jugs of water with the new cartridge before using it as drinking or cooking water (I use it for both). The fast delivery, in the time of COVID-19, was a bonus. The delivery man and I waved at each other with a glass door between us.

Great but value to be determined by where you live
Until recently I had never bothered with filtering water, being born and bread in Shropshire I am used to living in a hard water area. Recently I was given a new kettle by relative who had being staying with me, clearly dropping hints, as a Christmas present.

Gratefully received, I installed the the filter and used the kettle and could not believe the difference. Both the taste of tea mostly and coffee was transformed and so when the kettle needed a replacement I bough some more filters and hence the review!

These are good and really do improve taste the cost however is brutal high and will not be to everybody taste, excuse the pun! However If you keep your eyes peeled for discounts, they can be found on here!

So as my headline suggests, your opinion on this review is dependant on where you live and how much you want to eliminate some of taste of the water out your tap and reduce limescale etc! For me, i won’t be going back.

    Okay but not precision engineered
These Brita filters seem to do the job – the water from the jug really does taste better than from the tap. Two things though, firstly, the fit in the jug isn’t perfect and it looks as though water only exits from one of the two filters holes and as though it can get down the side of the filter. Finally, although there is a filter recycling scheme, I suspect many of these ends up in landfill and they seem to be made of plastic – I’d like to know more about their environmental credentials. in summary, yes, they do their job and the water tastes good but they could be better engineered to engender greater consumer confidence.

Great product - Improves the taste of tap water and removes the limescale.
The cartridges supplied worked as expected, improving the taste and removing the limescale from our tap water. The cartridges were supplied in the proper box as you would expect from a supermarket, but at a better price. In my opinion there is a slight “new cartridge” taste which is still present after the standard throw away the first 3 fills. We use our jug a lot and this taste goes after a few days, but this could hang around for a bit if you don’t use yours that often.

Overall very pleased with the Brita system it makes the water taste much better and stops the scale forming in the kettle and coffee machine. I have been using these for years and had no problems with them, would definitely recommend.

Produces water that tastes as good as the bottled stuff
I’ve been using Brita Maxtra cartridges for a while, but this was my first experience of using the ‘+’ version. We live in a hard water area, and our tap water can smell overwhelmingly of chlorine. These cartridges produce fresh and neutral tasting water, which is a pleasure to drink. I haven’t noticed any difference in the quality, or taste of the water produced by these cartridges, compared to the previous version, so I’d be happy to buy either. As I’m the only one using it, and then only for cold drinking water, I can make a cartridge last for two months (rather than the recommended four weeks), without any noticeable degradation in taste. As I purchased these during a lightning deal, they were excellent value for money, otherwise I feel they are rather pricey. However, I do recommend this product.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersPretty decent water filters that reduce plastic waste of bottled wate
I have found these filters to be very good at removal of chlorine from tap water which is by far my main reason why I didn’t drink tap water as the taste did bother me. By bringing both filtered and unfiltered water under the light there is a visible difference in the number of particles in the water, the filtered water had none floating about (these are not dangerous). I conducted a blind test to verify if the taste of the filtered water was truly better at least to me personally and I have found that in 90 per cent of cases it did. However, from time to time the water did taste sweet to me.
It is important to take a look at the latest water report of your local water supplier to check if they comply with the regulations but I think that even some store-bought water might contain contaminants the same way the tap water might.
I am glad they offer a recycling programme present in a lot of UKs local shops to take care of the used cartridges as it is important to protect the environment, that is a big plus and advantage of such a big company as opposed to other water filtering systems.
I used to buy bottled water which can rack up expenses and it does create unnecessary plastic waste I felt guilty for, now I can enjoy the water at home with great taste and fewer contaminants but also at a much cheaper price per litre.
Overall, I would recommend this product as it is trusted by many and provides a great solution to picky taste buds.

    Purifies Water Well
Brita filters are definitely better than the cheaper copies, which I have also used extensively in the past, but have decided to spend the extra for the better quality Brita provides. I use the purified water in my glass kettle and can thus clearly see that the chalk build up in the kettle is a lot less when I use Brita filters. The price on Amazon is often better than that in the supermarkets. Experience has taught me that sometimes you need to spend a little more for better quality.

    Effective, but expensive
The water in my area is quite hard and often has a metallic/chlorine type smell. A water filter is essential for preventing scale build up and horrible tasting hot drinks! In time I’ll be getting an inline filter for my taps, but until then I use a filter jug and filters. These work really well and do not need changing as often as they suggest. Go by your own tastebuds and smell, not pressure from companies to needlessly buy consumables. They are spendy but equally they last me a long while so can’t complain to much. Cheaper alternatives are out there, and they are just as good in my experience. So, you pays your money and you takes your choice.

Product is easy to install, and is a basic filter yes. Nothing special about it. In my house it usually lasts just under a month. And we mainly use the filtered water to fill up the kettle. This has thus far worked extremely well and much better than water out the tap because it doesn’t leave the kettle full of scale. Which always happens in between filters when the jug is in the wash.
There is no flavour to it, i dont think anyway. Not for me. So i’ve placed 5 stars. I am however finding that the filters will have a little water in the bag before i’ve Even open up the plastic, and i don’t know why this is, or if anyone else is having this problem?

Filter your own water - Make the switch!
I have been purchasing Brita Filters from Amazon for years, I buy them from here as they tend to always be on offer and I always forget to buy them from the supermarket!

These arrive in a box, then are individually wrapped to keep the filter fresh.

I am a family of 4 and a filter usually lasts us between a month or two depending on how much we drink and filter.

Tap water honestly tastes so much nicer once it has been filtered and then stored in the fridge in the jug.

If you are currently buying bottled water from the supermarket I would honestly ask you to think about taking the steps in filtering your own water is so much better for the environment, for your pocket and it tastes great!

We keep purchasing these time and time again because they just do what you want. Filter the water, remove our crazy high limescale amount and clear and clean the taste for a great cup of tea or coffee.

You can tell when they begin to run out/become saturated because you start to see a film on the surface of the water.

They are very easy to install too, they fit into the relevant holders perfectly. We have a kettle and a water filter jug so need two at a time but you can find these at a reasonable price on most occasions.

    Genuine Brita Maxtra cartridges
I am from Scotland, so our water quality is already quite high, however you can sometimes taste some chlorine off of it. This completely removes any chemical taste from the water. Great price for genuine refill cartridges which have lasted 6 months before I had to reorder.

You can really taste the difference between normal tap water and filtered water from these. I couldn’t be without them now. The jug was originally 12 from the supermarket, so it also works out much cheaper than bottled water- and is perfect for refilling reusable and keep cold bottles with high quality, filtered water.

You can also recycle your cartridges to be more eco friendly, so it’s a win win and one up for the plastic conscious.

    Great drinking wate
I have always had very nice tap water that was clear and fresh tasting , as good as any bottled water. Sadly, when the water main was disturbed the water became slightly dank and lifeless. I let the system settle for a week but the taint remained so i purchased a Brita jug and filters.
I now again have lovely drinking water that also improves on the taste and clarity of tea too.
I change the filters once every 4 weeks and buy the value packs when they are on offer. They can be a little pricey otherwise, but value is subjective i suppose..
As a bonus, the kettle remains free of residue and no long needs some citric acid adding to remove lime scale.

Use in a soft water area to elimiate bottled water purchasing
Living in North England = soft water so why do we need a water filter??? simples (as the kids used to say) – this makes the tap water tast much better (ie taste of nothing if that makes sense) and now no buying bottled water.

We replace on a flat 6-week schedule, not because of the quality degrading but the filtration rate seems to slow down significantly – proof that even in a soft water area something (that isn’t CaCO3) must be being adsorbed onto the filter media).

Hard to give these a star rating really… Purchased from Amazon according to price and convenience – approx 2/3 the price of and delivered next day. Will stock up a year’s worth next time on a special.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe filters are a bit wet when you open the packaging but apparently normal
These are genuine Brita branded water filters that you can use in your supermarket purchased Brita Jugs. They are quite a bit more expensive than the off brand non OEM filters made by Sainsburys for example. I however have a bit more faith in the Brita stuff as they are the original proponents of the clean water game.

I was a bit concerned when i opened these filters as there seemed to be water condensation on the inside of the packaging (and with moisture, comes bacteria?).

I looked up the information on brita’s own FAQs and it sounded like this was quite normal due to the high heat steam treatment process the filters go through before packaging. I’m inclined to believe they are fine. As a result of these being on sale, they were actually quite a bargain. Unsure if I would prefer these over the Sainsburys own brand stuff in the future given their expensive nature.

I stay in an area with high hard water content and it makes it very difficult to cook or to make a good hot drink. This product has definitely changed the way my water taste. I come from an Asian background therefore I tend to eat lots of soups. Previously, the soup would taste almost “rusty” but not it taste really nice and that applies to tea/coffee too. The only downside is the price and how many times you need to change the filter. I tend to change the filter every 3 weeks and so I’ll need to buy the filter often. Other than that, it is a life changing product.

    OK, but prone to air-blockage
I like the product, but they are prone to blockage by bubbles of air. If you’re experiencing issues with reduced (or no) flow through the filter, it’ll be air bubbles to blame. Fortunately, they can be easily remedied, although the previous design of Maxtra cartridge did NOT have this issue (hence why I’m reducing my score). The solution to air-bubble blockage is to fill the upper reservoir with water, and then poke a fork-handle or other thin implement into both of the flaps of the installed cartridge. They will bend inward as you push, and this will release the air. I’ve taken to doing this as a matter of course on every refill.

    Really do work!
Cannot argue with the quality and compared to recent “other” filters that I mistakenly used, these are streets ahead. They really do reduce the particles – I’ve used a particle tester and proved it. Our kettle has not even shown any signs of furring and we are in one of the hardest water areas in the UK. They are not cheap – hence the one star for value for money; but would thoroughly recommend as worth spending the extra on. DON’T buy what appear to be cheaper compatibles because I have, and they simply don’t do the job at all.

Pricey, but at least I know what I’m getting
Living in a hard water area and getting sick of the limescale in my kettle, etc, I have caved in and bought a Brita water filter which takes these maxtra+ cartridges. Having never sat down to a water filter taste test, I cannot really comment if these have good flavour or not, but I do think it makes the water smoother and easier to drink for us. However, I am unhappy with the price of the cartridges. I think they should cost a lot less than what Brita sells them for and I do feel ripped off. However, I buy them instead of the cheaper alternatives because I don’t know what chemicals I would instead be consuming from the cheaper, generic options. But, Brita, take note, I don’t appreciate getting ripped off and when cheaper alternatives offer themselves as a better option, I will be going that route.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe benchmark for water softening
We rely on this due to living in a very hard water area, Hampshire. Without these the cup of tea has a film on the top and overall looks a bit unpleasant.
Once we use these that goes and the tea looks amazing. No weird floating bits.

Also, we use the Brita kettle with the integrated filter and we very rarely have to clean it with any descaler. That alone really does show that these cartridges work very well at filtering out the impurities, especially limescale in our case.

As for taste, I have grown to like the taste of the water here after moving up from Devon. the Brita cartridges do mask any extra tastes too so that seems a bonus if you do not like the taste.

So, whilst not cheap, these do really work very well. Quality has been consistent. We have never had one that had failed on us.
They are fairly easy to setup. Occasionally you may see some black carbon type deposits floating but it’s rare really and just means you need to do one extra flush through.

Once the air is removed from within the cartridge they perform very well and process the water quickly for a good month or more before requiring replacement.

Will continue to use these for sure.

The same as what was supplied with mu jug.
These filters are the same as what you got with your Britta Jug, they are genuine Britta direct replacement filters so you should really know what you’re getting.

I purchased my jug because I live in a hard water area and I got fed up with having to keep descaling my expensive kettle. Since owning my jug I have not needed to descale my kettle when changing the filter as directed by the indicator on the jug, so they do work. However I read a review of my jug where the reviewer said he would use the same filter twice and the water didn’t taste any different. I tried this and on the 6th week I noticed my kettle starting to scale again so it is best to stick to the indicator, (basically 1 filter per month).

So I bought some from a shop for comparison. Turns out they were genuine and air clogs are a frequent occurrence with Brita filters now
I have found a solution to this, when you fill the jug, tap it down on the counter a couple of times and this will dislodge the trapped air, allowing free flowing filtering.
Very happy with this purchase, I’m sure it’s genuine product, amazing price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDoes what it says on the tin (for most of the time)
I use Brita filters for our 2 jugs on a regular basis for a few years now. These new filters seem to be just as good as the old ones. My gripe is more with the counter on the jugs as they just seem to run down every month which is fine. In our case though as we go through a lot of water, after about 3 weeks of use the difference in water taste from the beginning is noticeable and the water is not as ‘filtered’ as it is at the beginning. I understand its simply down to us using he jugs quite a lot (we filter at least 3-4 litres of water a day per jug) but it makes the timer on the jugs slightly redundant as the timer still says one bar left worth of filtering when it isnt really. Still, 6 cartridges for 20 quid is not bad and I can live with the not so filtered water towards the end of the month. Beats completely unfiltered water so no complaints.

Golden Review Award: 370 From Our UsersExpensive - But Worth I
One could argue that filters like this are a waste of time but that rather depends upon where you live and the ‘quality’ of your water.

By that I mean the taste and minerals which, if you are a tea-urn like my wife matters. Also I live in Norfolk where the water is from deep underground where it picks up epic amounts of calcium carbinate which furrs up anything hot with limescale practically overnight.

So, for years we have used a water filter that removes taste and chemicals such as chlorine and also reduces the limescale on our kettle to negligible amounts.

Now, I’m no eco-herbalist-homeopathic type person. I’m a marine engineer and have no issue with chemically treating the water to make it safe and on ships do so all the time. Chlorine in small amounts has probably saved more people than all the doctors in the world in modern history.

But, it does flavour the water and is noticeable in tea especially when the water authorites do a high dose. I’m not 100% sure about the latter but I know that every six months on a ship we super-chlorinate to kill off nasties like legionnaires and I cannot see why ashore similar would not be required in pumping systems now and again with the increased taste effect that will cause.

Anyway, because these cartridges have activated carbon they remove free chlorine and thus allow the tea to taste better. And I did watch some TV show where an actual expert said that filtering water is necessary for good tea, so who am I to argue.

On top of that, these filters absorb metals such as lead and copper. Not sure if copper is bad for you in the miniscule amounts you might encounter it, but lead is defo a no-no.

Actually, as an aside, copper is a brilliant sterilzer and we use copper in sea chests on ships to kill off spores. It’s also used in hospitals where hands might reside to kill of pathogens. Just for info.

Returning to these filters, I can say they are excellent. High quality and really do improve taste and perhaps improve the health of the water. The cost however is brutal. And that’s why this is a five star product on Amazon because the price I paid was with a discount on a special which worked out at a near 50% reduction on the supermaarket prices.

Still expensive but on balance worth it in my opinion.

One small thing to remember though. Because chlorine is removed from the water, anything that’s been through this filter has to be used quickly to ensure that it does not become contaminated. And of course now and again give the jug a really good clean.

Overall, a brilliant product that saves on limescale problems and makes the water taste better.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersLiving in he plastic age
There is evidence that particles of plastic have entered our water supplies. Using these filters for drinking, cooking and making tea goes some way to reducing the chance of plastic entering our bodies at home from tap water. Taste-wise, when drinking filtered tap water, I don’t really notice much difference; however, when making tea, the tea does taste notably better and the kettle does not fur up like it used to (we live in a hard water area). I have given 4 stars because the 1 month timer system is crude (what if I’m away from home for a week?) and cannot take into account, variations in use. I could be replacing a perfectly good filter unnecessarily! The other reason is that it is not clear what to do with the old filter (can it be recycled?). Overall though, very pleased with just a couple of minor concerns.

    Very good indeed
I bought these to replace my old BRITA Maxtra cartridge and this new plus version is a lot better. The filtered water does not have that terrible metallic taste.

I use the water for everything – cooking, making tea and coffee and I must say it is a wonderful water for making Chinese gongfu cha.

I am glad I am using BRITA Maxtra+ Cartridges.

Each cartridge last for about a month and therefore it is making lots and lots of gallons of water – all I need for the month for only three pounds something which is a lot cheaper than bottled water.

They last the four weeks, but it’s just a timer, not a usage meter. So I could have just one glass in a week, or as many glasses as I could fill in a week. This is my only technical issue with them.
In reality mine last up to about halfway through the 4th week, when the water starts to taste slightly metallic again. Having said this, I use them a lot! I use water in my kettle; for my steamer, for my coffee machine, and for cool drinking water, all through the same filter – and all daily too. So as far as that’s concerned, I think get good use out of one filter. In honesty, my only actual complaint is that they could be a bit cheaper.

12-pack came in original manufacturer sealed box. Perfect condition. No different from buying locally apart from the huge price difference! It’s quite likely that this seller buys just the 12-packs and then splits them up for smaller orders, judging by the feedback from buyers of smaller quantities, so if you want a complete original box like the one pictured in the listing, then I’d suggest ordering the 12-pack and then you can forget about trying to find sensibly priced Brita filters for at least another year :o)

We have a tap filter for water but I always had to boil the water to be able to drink it, otherwise I always had a problem with drinking it filtered. Thought I’d just try using a Brita jug with the Maxtra filter and I am please with the taste of the double filtered water! It has also reduced the scaling in my kettle, was getting lime scale very quickly after descaling the kettle each time. Hardly had a problem with limescale in the kettle for some months now.

    Excellent Value
Bought these to fit my Brita Marella extra large jug and they fit perfectly, I bought two packs when on offer making them a very good deal. I recently cleaned my kettle with a liquid kettle cleaner from Amazon in readiness to start using my Brita jug again, after a few weeks of use my kettle has stayed absolutely spotless from using the Brita filtered water and our hot drinks taste and look better. The filter lasts four weeks of continuous water top ups so good value as we use it for cold drinks too and cooking veggies in boiling water, we live in a very hard water area but the filters have no problem in working with our tap water.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThey certainly do the job, I just wish they were slightly better value
I can’t stand the taste of the tap water in my hard-water area, so filtering is essential. I’ve been using the Brita Maxtra cartridges for years. There is no doubt they work because the difference with the filtered water is impressive. However, every time I purchase a box of these I take a sharp in-take of breath — they seem just a bit too pricey for what they are.

Golden Review Award: 41 From Our UsersGreat price for a product I can't live withou
This is a great value way to buy Brita Maxtra+ water filters and as a result they work out considerably cheaper than the local super markets. This box of 6 will last for approximately 6 months as the indicator on my jug slowly counts down for a month after putting a new filter in. At this price it works out at 40 a year constant supply of ice cold filtered water from the Brita jug in my fridge which isn’t too bad really.

The water where I live tends to have a very odd taste at times, sometimes it’s slightly chemical and other times it has an almost mushroom-like taste which makes it very unpleasant to drink! Apparently the water is safe to drink as is but these filters totally transform the water and make it taste nice again.

Having used the Brita filter for several years now I would never look back and highly recommend trying one if you find tap water particularly fulsome of the wrong flavours!

I have always used Maxtra filters, these new Maxtra plus filters are for my new Brita jug. They seem the same as the old filters, filtering good water to drink, that tastes better than tap water and keep my kettle clean.
If I didn’t use them I would have to descale my kettle once a week, so it is a must for me.
I make them last a month by only replacing on the 1st of the month but they seem to be still producing good water then so it works well.
I can never quite understand why they are so expensive?

I wouldn’t say that water tastes “much better” with these but it filters and removes the chlorine smell/taste so guess they’re ok.
They definitely don’t last a month before the water very clearly doesn’t get filtered as well as at the beginning (taste slightly changes).

Taste changes slightly after about 2 weeks of fairly light use.

Golden Review Award: 51 From Our UsersSuitable for new and older water filters
Brita certainly are the best when it comes to water. I recently bought one of their new water filters which uses these cartridges. As I buy the bigger pack I give some of the cartridges to my mum to use on her older model which used the ordinary maxtra cartridges. They fit any water filter which uses the Maxtra cartridges. they work in exactly the same way and to be honest the water does taste very clean and pure. I would recommend them.

Satisfied with the new Brita Maxtra+cartridges which are compatible for most jugs. I was expecting the cartridges to be in the original manufacturers box as shown on the Amazon advert but they arrived individually in other packaging. I feel that this information should be included in the advert during the ordering process.

They fit well, filter at about the same rate as the basic Maxtra filters. I cannot see why the + ! I have a problem with the fact that they didn’t come in a Brita box, as shown, I had 6 filters stuffed in a cardboard box, this makes me wonder if they are what they seem and because of this I would not buy from this seller again!
