Brushless motor with little interference

When the brush is removed, the spark generated when the cordless drill brush motor is running is eliminated, greatly reducing the interference with the spark on the remote control radio

Stronger performance

The heat of the cordless drill is less, and the independent PCB control board increases the overload current that the machine can withstand, making the tool’s performance more stable and the user experience better

I think it’s a great drill for the price. Also seems to have just as good build quality as drills much more expensive. It is nice that it came with a caring tool bag as well.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have used this drill for changing my tires and the torque setting really helps me to get the lug nuts off and on. I use this in combination with a torque wrench (as the primary tool), but this new drill makes the job quicker and easier.
General drilling was a breeze. The motor was plenty strong for this task.

Fit and finish is good but it’s definitely not anything to brag about. Everything is plastic fantastic and the quality is not the greatest. The co-molded rubber parts are well placed on the handle and they do give you extra grip and good ergonomics. However, the overall combination of colors and textures may make the product feel slightly cheaper than some other drills.

The LED assist/task light is interestingly placed. It’s at the bottom of the grip, but it’s angled to shine onto what you’re working on (compared to other drills I’ve used before). For the tasks I did (drilling, screwing, changing tires) this doesn’t really present any problems.

Sure, some sacrifices were made to make the product hit a lower price point, but it definitely gets the jobs done.
For most everyday tasks around the house, it is a solid drill for the price.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWhen I had an issue with the drill I contacted Wesco who quickly responded and and told me how to test and overcome the problem. This company is excellent and one I will continue to chose for my engineering needs because their service and approach to their customers is so good.
    Many thanks Wesco

Ok first thing is first, let’s talk about the other reviews. Yes the Chuck does not run true but what do you expect for this money. Overall this drill is excellent value for money and does what is required. Been using for a while now with no issues.

This cordless drill from Wesco is quite compact and lightweight to use, the build quality is very good for this price range, this drill features a variable speed trigger, forward and reverse, 2-speed gearbox and a torque control dial.

This drill feels nice and light in the hand and also feels fairly well balanced, I like the size of this drill, it has plenty of power when needed but also offers a compact size for getting into smaller areas. This drill is supplied with a basic drill and bit set, plus a flexi joint and a great zip-up nylon carry bag.

Wesco supply this drill with one 18v 2ah battery and charger, you can buy extra batteries but at 39.99 for a genuine Wesco battery, it would be more cost-effective to buy another drill at 49.99.

If there was one thing I could criticise is the speed of the charger, it is quite slow when charging the battery from empty to full.

This drill is aimed at the DIY market, don’t expect to get top-end performance for a drill costing 50 because you won’t, Wesco has supplied everything needed with this drill to keep the DIYer happy, the drill itself is well made and is far better than some of the Chinese generics that are flooding the market at the moment.

A great, compact and very useful drill.

The drill works well and has good power. The chuck is slightly off centre on mine and I think its low speed performance is disappointing as when the trigger is pulled, however carefully you do it, I find that the minimum achievable speed is too fast for removing screws. The chuck is not off centre, my drill was bent a little! Sorry I should have checked that first.
The low speed performance is, I think, still disappointing however.

I’ve struggled on with an old NiMH cordless drill for years. This one is much lighter and comes with a Lithium battery – so it’s much more powerful and runs for longer. I’ve not seen a light on a drill before, but this one has one. It’s bright enough to act as a small worklight in dark places and works well, but could be brighter.

The keyless chuck is easy to use and works well. I do appreciate not having a key to lose.

I’ve used this to drill quite a bit of wood as well as driving screws using the clutch mechanism. It all worked brilliantly – apart from one of the drill bits that bent very easily when attempting to drill into pine. Thankfully I have my own drill bits as the ones provided with the drill seem to be of low quality. I’m surprised by this because the rest of the drill seems to have very good build quality.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is a good drill, lightweight and easy to use. It has a long lasting charge. It’s also pretty robust, and handles quite hefty diy tasks well- I used it for putting together a large shed. However, it is advertised as coming with 15 accessories including drill bits, but these were not part of the package, so I had to buy drill bits separately.

Good for jobs around the house. A visible amount of run-out on the chuck as it rotates, so don’t expect to use this for precision work of any kind. But for drilling a 1/4″ hole in a beam to install a hook it worked just fine. Given the run out I think it’s a bit expensive.

As ever one always has to take into account the price of the item when reviewing it. This is of course no exception and in a nutshell at the price currently on sale at Amazon at 50 quid it’s a hard tool to beat. That price is less than say, a Ryobi, minus the battery which will add at least another 40 quid on top.

And Ryobi is where this Wesco tool competes with I’d say. Clearly, if you are going to shell out for a Makita or a Hilti then obviously you are getting premium product – but at a premium price – which may be acceptable if you are a tradesman or serious tool nut. However, if you are a looking for a solid tool that will do a job and are not bothered about the name, then this WESCO is tough to ignore.

For full clarity, I did get a WESCO tool about six months ago – a circular saw 18V – and it has been tremendous, honestly. The one big niggle was the lack of extra batteries which, I guess was down to WESCO building it’s brand name and presence here in the UK.

Well, before we go on to the tool, I did check and you can now buy WESCO batteries separately which, really makes a difference as you can buy into the system now.

So, the actual drill is very good. It has a solid feel about it far in excess of my older Ryobi ones and similar to the newer and far more expensive recent versions. I get that it’s not premium tool level or at least price but honestly? It drills a hole as well as my Ryobi and Makita tools.

The plastic shell is tactile and has a nicely finished surface with moulded rubber grips that are solidly bonded. The actual plastic is probably PA6 which, is a high quality glass fibre reinforced type used in better quality tools. I used my knife to scratch it and you can feel the abrasive particles mixed in.

The battery is a bottom of the range 2Ah type and the honest truth is that if you are going to do a fair bit of work then you will probably want to upgrade to the 4Ah battery which, is around 70 quid. Not cheap but not bad when compared to other tool batteries.

Speaking of the battery, this isn’t a ‘fake’ lithium one. It lasts well and has the same power characteristics of the other ones I have.

Now, in order to get the price point down some corners have to be cut and WESCO have clearly decided that the charger is a good place to do it. The charger that you get is a slip on cap type that works just as well as any other but isn’t as convenient nor does it give the same sense of quality that a base does. Whilst no base charger is available my gut feeling – given that they have expanded their tool range considerably in six months – is that one will become available at some time in the future.

Overall, WESCO is a genuine alternative option for those in the market for well prices, quality mid range tools.

Wow. What a drill! SO easy to charge up, and get going too. We used it to auger holes for planting trees and it was super powerful – no problems at all.

I will start this review by clearly stating that I am not a committed or experienced DIYer. I would say I am more in the category of older male who has always undertaken only the most basic jobs that I couldn’t get out of. I think someone like me can add a simple reassurance to other novices.

This drill does everything I need it to do. It is light and compact, has more than enough gears and speeds, and doubles up as an electric screwdriver as well.

I cannot fault the battery and it is reassuring that if I choose to purchase other Wesco power tools the power pack would be interchangeable.

The keyless chuck makes it easy to quickly change bits.

I have already found the LED light, and flexible rod for use in tight spaces, extremely useful.

I was surprised how much I liked the carrying bag that came with it. Previous drills came with plastic boxes which didn’t store the drill and bits securely and were not durable, either cracking or the hinges breaking.

If there is one criticism, it is that it only comes with a 13-piece bit set. This wasn’t a problem for me personally, as I have accrued more than enough over the years, but it could mean that someone buying their first drill would have to spend a little more money to fill the gaps in sizes.

I have not had the need to use the belt clip which was also included.

I notice that the price has dropped from when I received it a month ago, down from 79.99 to 49.99, which represents excellent value.

It comes with a 2-year warranty.

This drill will do nicely for me, and I have no hesitation in recommending it. I have given it 4 rather than 5 stars just because it was good without blowing me away and the bit set could have been fuller.

As an occasional DIYer this drill will do nicely for me.

I wish I had discovered Wesco sooner for my home workshop! I currently use Ryobi for Home and Dewalt for the Site. Wesco is going down a similar route as Ryobi and has 1 battery to use across the range which is very extensive, yet missing a few items I think if Wesco made a battery nailer I would sell up my Ryobi and switch!

For the money, this Drill is well put together and I would put this side by side with my Ryobi tools all day long which are 20/30% more money! Yes you do not get a carry case, but you do get a handy carry bag/tote and honestly, for the money do you expect an ABS plastic case?

The drill performs well and drills smoothly and feels solid in the hand, If you are on a budget or just starting out then I feel Wesco would be a great alternative to some of the more well-known brands!

It’s easy to miss the text on some things and I’d not spotted that it hadn’t got hammer action on this, it does however work very well and considering it’s specs show 20something nm as torque it’s surprisingly powerful and must be wrong surely. Ignoring the hammer it has the settings for screwing and full drill and the battery holds well and the weighting of it in the hand is good and is easy to control and apply pressure with one hand.
The carry bag I find really useful and has ended up as a general tool bag for me unknowingly and the extra bits are ok, the screw bit heads are a little soft and marked quite easily on some stubborn old screws but the drill bits have worked well into some walls, I didn’t try on brick though as I used my hammer drill for those.

The price is set a little too high for me, it’s not brushless and the lack of hammer mean as good a drill this is it’s not in the next bracket of quality and there are many many drills that look very similar for a lot less.
Don’t get me wrong I really like the Wesco brand and my hammer drill is actually the Wesco brushless which I love and is my main drill but if you’re after that kind then you should pay a bit more or if it’s just a basic one there are cheaper options. As good as this drill is you need to decide what kind you want and how much you want to spend.

This is a great drill as a starter set for someone who is doing DIY at home, but I wouldn’t say it’s for professional use.

Price (59.99) is fairly reasonable for this drill, considering it comes with the battery (so many drills don’t even have a battery, please always check the description!) plus also some drill bits and a carry bag. Great value for money there and would be ideal for someone who is new to tools and needs a good starter set.

Quality wise, let’s be honest it’s no Makita, but it’s got a decent battery and quick charge, plus powerful enough to do jobs round the home. Would I recommend it for someone who is a professional, like a builder? No. I think they would need something that’s got more power, my husband said it wouldn’t be something he would use since he has a name brand drill, but would be fine for someone who doesn’t have the money or need for such a big investment.

Over all its not bad, if you want it to do simple jobs round the house like hanging photos, shelves and other basic DIY jobs. But if you want to use this for work I don’t know if it would be powerful enough, better for home use.

It all comes well packaged, with instructions, and is extremely easy and quick to set up. He has used it already to attach a wall planter to an outdoor wall and it was all straightforward!

Really good value for money and highly recommended!

I already have a Wesco Circular Saw which has proven very reliable and came with a 4Ah battery, so thought it would be good to get the matching drill to share batteries.

It’s quite small compared to my other battery drill, and comes with a 2Ah battery, charger, carry bag and a few accessories. Fortunately it’s 18V so is able to provide reasonable power to the bit or driver, and is fine for light to medium duty drilling and assembly work.

The charger is small and basic, and identical to the one that came with the circular saw, with just a couple of LEDs and a transformer plug. This is way below the standard of major brands like Ryobi and Makita which provide a much more robust charge base with additional charging information. But then they are sold at a price which is generally a lot higher than Wesco.

This is a standard cordless power drill, without a hammer function, but does have 20 plus torque levels and two speeds. The torque setting is useful if you don’t want to overtighten a hex bolt for example, but isn’t useful for drilling metal or wood, when you’ll want it on the highest setting.

I like the size and feel of this drill, the light is a nice touch, and the compatibility of batteries across the range make it useful, if like me ,you already have a cordless tool with another battery.

The accessories are a bit simplistic and don’t really add much to the package. I would have preferred the saving by not including those was used to provide a hard case, rather than the light weight carry bag that has been included.

Still, overall it’s well priced and a decent option for a first foray into cordless drills, or for anyone that already owns a Wesco cordless device.

A decent drill with reasonable torque, though supplied with a basic charger and case

It is a nice brushed motor cordless drill / screwdriver and works well for domestic use.

    It could however be better.

    1. No battery charge level indication – would you buy a car without a fuel gauge?
    2. Work light only comes on after you start drilling – would you buy a car where you have to start driving before you can see the road?

Most now have the work light come on when you first apply minimum pressure to the trigger with more pressure then to start the motor.

Wesco do a nice range of tools all taking the same battery packs which is good but don’t sell the tools without chargers and batteries.

A 4Ah extra battery is now however available on Amazon for 70.00 which seems rather expensive and more than a more known brand name.

Anyway, the drill works fine for normal and if like their other models when the battery gets low it will just stop working.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve used Wesco products before and found them as good as the more costlier ones on the market. And this drill is no exception.
This is a standard size for a drill with an 18volt li-ion battery and keyless chuck.
The handle is pretty firm yet comfortable to grip. The trigger sits roughly where the handle meets the main body, with a forward/reverse sliding bar just above. This bar slides from one side to the other with ease. Making it easier to use with one hand.
The chuck is keyless and is tightened/loosened with your hands, with the grips on the end clamping down hard on the bit slotted inside.
There’s 21 torque settings which control how far you screw the screw in, clicking loudly once it reaches the torque chosen. This stops you screwing too deep or too hard. Then there’s the drill setting which doesn’t stop until you release the trigger.
On the top of the drill is a 2 speed gear control, used for different types of material, be that wood, plastic or brick.
Near the front is a little light which glows up when you squeeze the trigger, even a little. This helps lighten up the area you’re working on.
It’s not too heavy and easily used with one hand without causing your wrist to wobble and ache.
You get more than a drill in this pack. You get drill bits, driver bits and holder, a flexible shaft and it all comes in a good, well made bag.
In all, this is as good as I expected having used Wesco product before. It does exactly what it’s supposed to and does it with ease.

Husband has Wesco products before and he is pleased with the quality and performance. This drill is powerful and he noticed that when he drilled the hole in the hard wood, it went smoothly in no time.
Wesco drill came nicely packed in box with battery charger, one battery, belt clip, handy fabric storage bag, extending drill bit arm and plastic case filled with drill bits. Husband likes the belt clip which would let him work hands free and have drill within reach of the hand, when needed.
It’s good looking drill, not very big, handy to hold. From close look it looks well built and the switches works well too.
Husband said that second battery would be very helpful to have included in this set at the price range it’s currently sold for.
The other Wesco product husband owns is a leaf blower and it has the same battery as the drill so that’s a good thing in case he will need additional battery for any of those tools.
This drill will worth the asking price when additional battery will be included. Its very good quality product with potential of being one of the best on the market. We can recommend this brand and this product.

    Powerful, good looking drill

This is quite a good, complete starter drill set that includes a set of basic bits and storage bag in addition to the drill, battery, and charger. The set is the most complete I have seen for a starter kit, and seems ideal for someone who doesn’t have anything in the way of tools. The drill is light and easy to handle. It’s a lot more compact and significantly lighter than my old Ryobi ONE+ drill/driver, yet still seems to be pretty powerful. I like the hand grip a lot more — it’s narrower and a bit more shaped.

The price point seems pretty reasonable for a complete kit, although I would have preferred to see a brushless motor on the drill. The charger isn’t the most sturdy feeling — it’s a sort of little clip over bit rather than a docking base — but is more compact and requires less space to use/store than other brands chargers. The 2Ah battery is easily the smallest and lightest of its type I have seen, but does come with some compromises: there’s no LED charge indicator (unlike the batteries from systems by Ryobi, Greenworks, and Werktough). I’m also struggling to locate a same size spare battery. I can see from the manufacturer’s website that they make one, as well as 1.5Ah and 4Ah batteries to accompany their 18V system, but can only find the 4Ah version on sale. I did (by Googling) manage to find an Amazon link for a 2.0Ah Wesco battery, but it’s ‘Currently Unavailable’.

Good, compact, lightweight yet powerful battery drill

I received this item through the Amazon Vine programme.
An excellent drill from the WESCO range: well made with crisp body moulding, variable speed trigger, variable clutch and useful accessories (no clutter!) including a work-bag rather than a blown plastic case.
The drill is powerful enough for most DIY, has a keyless chuck and the option of a belt-clip.
I have other WESCO products that I have purchased myself and am pleased with.
The drill comes with a single 2amp/hr battery and charger: I would have liked to see a second battery included.
Retailing at 79.99, this can be compared to their brushless-motor version for 10 dearer, which I own: if I was buying then I’d spend the extra for the brushless version (no danger of sparks, less wear on the motor..) but nevertheless this is a premium drill that compares the major brand names very well. 5 stars.

Wesco products are of consistenly high quality. If they keep up such quality in a few years time I see them being able to compete with the famous known brands; however, at the moment, to really stand out they need to reappraise their pricing structure in order to appear obviously competitive with those brands.

I suspect that many people will feel that it is worth the little extra money to buy the known brand, suspecting that it is safer to buy what you do know rather than what you don’t.

Summery: Build quality beyond criticism. Positive feeel to the switches. Acceptable level of noise/ vibration. Ergonomic. Canvas type bag could be made and styled of a higher quality material.

It comes with a good quality tough carry bag that will hold the drill, bits and charger.
I like that this drill also comes with some extra bits and drill bits which are nicely held in a plastic case for safe keeping.
The drill itself is a good size and weight so you can easily use it one handed. It has a keyless chuck which is great for speedy change of bits. It’s a good drill for many tasks around the home and is powerful enough for some light brick drilling.
The battery is easily removed for charging and the charging process is nice and quick too.

WESCO 18V 2.0Ah Cordless Impact Drill Set

The thing with drills of this type is that they’re basically all the same in terms of features. They all have adjustable keyless chucks, they all have different torque settings for drilling, screwing etc, they all have adjustable speed, and so on and so on. The point of comparison then is how well do they do what they do?

In the case of this drill, the answer is that it does it all well. I had cause to fit a roller blind recently, and using this unit to drill the holes and then to tighten the screws was a breeze. The fact that it’s brushless means that you get more power whilst cutting the noise, and it’s definitely quieter than my old Bosch drill.

It does have a couple of minor flaws. Anyone who’s doing more than the lightest amounts of DIY could probably benefit from a spare battery. It’s also a real shame that it doesn’t come with a hard case for protection, as I would consider this to be a pretty basic thing to provide with a drill.

Don’t let those stop you though. It’s a pretty decent drill, and in terms of functionality it ticks the boxes.

Review for Brushless Drill, WESCO 18V 2.0Ah Cordless Impact Drill Set with 18 Accessories, max Torque 60 N.m, 22 + 1 + 1, 2 Speed (0-500/0-2000 /min), with Belt Clip, Battery and Charger.

A versatile cordless brushless impact drill. The brushless motor helps make the drill quieter in operation and provides more power for longer due to the more efficient motor design. The drill operates in 3 modes: screwdriver, drilling and hammer drill with various selectable drilling speeds. The universal keyless chuck can accommodate upto a 13mm drill bit. The inclusion of a work light and the relatively lightweight drill makes this suitable for general purpose DIY needs coupled with the size makes it a comfortable power tool to work with. Comes with various drill bits as well as screwdriver bits, charger, battery and soft carry bag. Overall a well made cordless, brushless combi drill unit which is good for general purpose DIY needs, complete with various starter drill / screw bits and soft carry bag at a reasonable price.

For the price, you get quite a lot of drill. Being Brushless means that this drill has more than enough power to deal with pretty much anything that you can throw at it, especially for the average DIY-er. It possesses all the features that you would expect, such as hammer action and multiple adjustable speed controls. The battery is also easy to charge by just plugging into the wall, so you won’t have to worry about buying any extras such as battery chargers.

The drill and screwdriver bits it arrives with are of the usual bog standard quality that you’d expect. No real problem with that, except that the bit holder for the screwdriver bits was bent slightly out of true during manufacture. Not great, but not exactly the end of the world either, though it was annoying.

This niggle aside this a a good quality drill for the price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is the second Wesco tool that I have reviewed and i am becoming increasingly impressed with the brand.

This drill comes well packaged in a cardboard box and arrives with a 2Ah battery, charger, selection of drills and drivers, belt clip and a soft storage bag so pretty much everything that you need to get up and running.

The drill itself has a nice heft to it and although a little heavy, feels well balanced and built to shrug off wear and tear well.

Operating the drill activates a bright upward firing LED in the base to illuminate your work piece. You can immediately feel the torque which will easily cause the drill to twist in your hand which bodes well for drilling and driving. All of the parts that you touch have a nice grippy rubberised feel apart from the keyless chuck which is knurled metal.

Drilling/driving modes are selected by the collar around the Chuck offering a good selection or torque settings. You also have two speeds selectable on the top. The forward/reverse control is above the trigger which provides graduated speed/torque depending upon how hard you pull it.

The drill is a little noisier in operation than my big brand tool but otherwise seems to perform similarly which is impressive given the price point. I tested the drill in metal and wood using my own drill bits and it breezes through everything that I threw at it. I then tested the hammer action in a brick and again it made light work of it. The soft start helps with precision and once you have started the hole, the torque takes care of the rest. Driving in screws was easily dispatched with the 22 stage torque selection making it easy to control depth.

    So a very positive experience overall but if I were to be picky;

You may need to get a spare battery if you are planning to use this on large jobs but the included 2Ah will be more than adequate for occasional use.

I do not like kit bags as they offer little protection and cannot be stacked, a hard case would have been better but it is nice to at least have the bag included.

The drills/drivers are not the beat quality but think of them as a free starter kit and it really is not an issue.

Overall, this is a really nice product that delivers on its promise, the build quality is great and you can see why they are confident enough to offer a 2 year warranty. More than enough drill for most people and situations I suspect.

Cost effective alternative to the big brands.

For the price I would expect little more, maybe additional battery or hard case for protection.

Other than that everything that needs to be done at home, this drill will suits you in most cases. To drill some holes, to screw some screws into wall or to setup new closet, this one will go. First I installed 2 led lights on ceiling and had zero issues with it. Then I installed closet in my studio warehouse, same result as before.

And with all that there is also small light above the battery that turns on immediately when you press the button to start with drilling or screwing.

So yes, this drill driver is good, but could offer just a little more as mentioned before.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWesco seem to be very rapidly uping their game, I’ve a few of their tools that were of the budget variety, but maybe weren’t as budget friendly priced, they do tend to offer additional discounts though…
Anyway, this drill driver has impressed me, its brushless which means it should last significantly longer than brushed, in terms of overall lifespan, but also what you get out of each battery, requiring less power to do the same work, used this at the weekend & did the job well, just drilling as I’ve an impact driver that I use for screwdriving with the higher torque rating. This weighs in at 60Nm if I remember correctly (might be 50, but think its 60), there’s torque control if needed, hammer action, they’ve thrown in some screwdriver bits as well as some hss drill bits.
The only down sides to this that I find, is there’s only one battery, they also don’t seem to sell replacement batteries as yet, its a 2Ah unit, fortunately as I have some of their other tools, I have spare batteries, they work across the range. The charger could be better, I’ve criticised them on this before, it’s a transformed built into the plug, a weak wire, then a clip that you attach to the battery, give us a proper plug/cable/Dock charging system. Also, supply a tough case to keep everything in, not the tote bag that’s currently on offer.
I’d give 4.5 stars, cause my issues are just niggles, but rounding up seemed fairer than down. Small changes would perfect this.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve not really heard much of the brand of the name Wesco before but after using a few of their products I have to say I am quite impressed with what they are offering. Including this drill.
It’s a standard size drill with 22 torque settings, a drill option and a hammer function.
It’s an 18volt version which is adequate for more jobs around the home and more.
It’s nice and light-weight in the drill world, coming in at just over 1 kilo, which is great for holding a while on those trickier jobs.
The keyless chuck is nice and smooth, with a strong clamping mouth which clings tightly to the bit inside the three ‘teeth’.

Using the torque settings is simple and anyone who’s used such a drill before knows how it works.
The trigger is easy to pull and the direction button sits at thumb level, making it easy to flick from one way to another without any trouble at all.
There’s a small, metal clip, which comes in the package and you have to screw it into place. This clips onto a belt so you can go hands free up a ladder, (or somewhere) with the drill in easy reach.
The charging cradle is small, but that’s all you need. Slide the battery onto the cradle, the terminals connecting, and give it some power wait a few hours for the red light to go green and you’ve got a full battery. Job done.

In all, even though this drill hasn’t got a more popular brand etched on it it manages to do the same job as those higher priced, ‘labelled’ drills.
It’s got plenty of torque, making it more controllable, and the chuck is smooth, yet tightens with ease, and, once tightened, the bits don’t slide about inside its jaws.
The few accessories which come with this are a bonus, especially the bag which can house more than the drill and the charger.
Well worth the money, without a doub

You might not know the brand name .... ye

What’s in the package? The drill itself with two speed settings, variable speed on the trigger. Drill has a screwdriver mode with 20 torque settings, a drill mode, and a hammer drill mode. One battery – with charger. A small set of drills and drivers. A cloth carry case.

A very competent product which is robust and well made and offers a lot of power – probably more than my existing Bosch drill did (or ever did) – but this is heavier. I like having a greater range of torque settings (i.e. the setting which governs when the driver will stop trying to turn a screw).

The battery life so far seems good – but there is only one battery supplied. I have yet to find out if that is because of the confidence the manufacturer has in the battery lasting through a full day’s work, or whether it’s just a way to make the overall product cheaper. The Battery charger is a clip on type of thing, not the usual cradle arrangement which most others go for.

As is now common, this drill has a built in light which comes on when you pull the trigger, however a nice feature of this one is that it stays on for about 10 seconds after you let go. When working in dark corners or in your own shadow, having that light persist for a few seconds is a very useful feature. My existing Bosch drill has a light, but it’s only on when the drill is turning – which is sometimes annoying.

The drill has a slide switch on top to select fast or slow operation, so you can adapt to the task at hand. However, on either setting (and this is so far the only major criticism I have of this) it has almost no slow speed capability. Even on slow speed it goes from zero to 10 RPM (guess) instantly, you can’t inch forward or backward as you can with Bosch, Ryobi and other equivalent products I have used. You don’t need that very slow facility very often, but it is sometimes needed and this can’t do it – for that, and because of only one battery, I dropped a star on my rating, which would have been a full five otherwise.

Overall, in its new state, this is a competent and useful tool, at a great price. Longevity is something I will have to return here to document in a year or so.

I received this item through the Amazon Vine programme. An excellent brushless drill/driver featuring a brushless motor. Very well constructed with twin speeds and a useful choice of torque settings and a keyless chuck.
Quite powerful in use, and a bit quieter than similar drills.
Supplied with a small tool/carry bag which I liked better than the usual blown plastic case, a charger and a small set of drill bits and screwdriver bits with a magnetic holder.
The drill is well balanced in the hand, not too heavy. It only comes with one battery unfortunately.
So all round a great package…but…there’s the price. You are paying significantly more for the brushless technology, as this package currently retails at 105.99 (there is a 20% discount voucher available until the 25th Nov) and simply scrolling down the same Amazon page will show similar or better packages with conventional motors at around the 50/60 mark.
The question is how much do you want/need the latest brushless technology? Do you consign your old drills to the bin because you have burnt out the motor, or because the batteries have stopped holding a useful charge (and replacements cost more than the drill did)?
This is a well made and well functioning drill, I really like it. If it came with two batteries it would be a contender, but as it stands I wouldn’t buy one because the brushless technology (or lack of it) isn’t the main consideration in most work environments. I’d buy something that offered me two batteries for less money, of which there are multiple options on the Amazon site. It’s still getting 4 stars though because it’s a great drill.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs I use cordless drills a lot – DIY not as a builder – I was keen to try this one and the results were far better than I expected.

The drill itself is well made and quite heavy, even though some may say it is not. It has been designed for work, meaning it does all it should and does it well.

Firstly drilling, holes etc. In wood, plastic metal and masonry it works really well. The motor is powerful enough to get through anything, so long as you have the correct drill bit inserted. I was surprised at how good the hammer action was when I drilled through brick. Using the two speeds made it easier too. As a driver for screws it is excellent. Even at slow speeds there was no problem, indeed this is a real strength and if you only use it for this, you will have invested wisely.

The little light on the bottom is a superb idea as it directs its light to where it is needed, but without hand shadow getting in the way.

As it is a sturdy piece of kit, hopefully it should last quite some time and deal with a few knocks as well. The motor is powerful and does a brilliant job at whatever is thrown at it – as a workhouse it is ideal.

The only negatives are the balance isn’t perfect, but for the money I cannot complain at all. The feel when in hand is a bit rugged and isn’t like a DeWalt or Makita which could cost a lot more, but for the DIYer you have to go a long way to get anything as good for the price.

With the drill comes a charger, which although it does a good job, it is a bit flimsy and cheaply made; also the bag is a good addition and although it is not the usual plastic case, I feel it is ideal as it is quite a good size to carry the drill and all the bits needed for all those jobs. The screwdriver bits are OK as are the drills, but there are just a few of each which is OK to start you off but you will need more of each in order to get the best from this drill.

So to sum up, a good priced cordless drill, that is rugged enough to cope with most (if not all) jobs thrown at it.

    Highly Recommended.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersIt’s better than I thought, it’s actually a good drill. I have different drills for different jobs and I do everything from kitchens to wardrobes and use them a lot and this one has some bite. I normally use a dewalt18v for the heavy cordless stuff and a Makita 18v for the lighter stuff and this one out performs the Makita drill. This has more bite, which I mean doesn’t take a second to accelerate to full speed it is straight in there, more than the Makita but not as much as the DeWalt but that’s a different price range.
The keyless chuck is pretty standard and the speed settings are normal. The front ring between the but and the Chuck free spins which is different and when you stop drilling it spins to a stop and sounds like a loose part, no mention in the booklet and it’s too small to hold so? Doesn’t make any difference to the drill though.

The light on the base is pretty useless, a nice after thought. The weighting and the balance are superb, the battery is not weighing it down and its weight lean is top forward slightly which is perfect for drilling.

You know what, I used to view Wesco as a budget make with ok stuff but this is the 4th Wesco electric tool I’ve used and yes this one was free to test but I cannot fault any of them, one of the best things about them is the batteries on loads of their stuff are the same so I have a pressure washer, detail sander, circular saw and now this and I just throw a couple on charge and use the next battery it’s great.

It’s a good drill, brush less as well so its life span should be greater than others. I like it.

Very sound drill, good bite to it and better than my Makita 18v

This is a very competent 18v brushless, cordless drill/driver, which performs well (as advertised on the description) and even can deliver upto 60 Nm of torque.

There are, however two features that are missing. The most significant one is the lack of any kind of battery status indicator. Often this is built into the battery (like the Makita LXT ‘B’ series), or built into the tool itself. Personally, I like to know before going off on a job that there is sufficient charge to do the work. Yes, you can buy a second battery, but this adds to the cost and, at the time of writing, also incurs a significant shipping charge from Wesco in Germany.

The other feature that I would have liked is a depth stop. Having said that, the similar spec Bosch also lacks this feature.

So, should you buy? If you already have Wesco 18v tools, so you can share batteries, or if this us your first 18v tool, then this is a very reasonable buy.
However if you’re already bought into the Dewalt, Makita (where I have many tools and batteries), or Bosch (where I gave a few tools and batteries), then it probably makes sense to stick with your existing brand…

I hope you find my thought here useful.

A lightweight, very compact cordless drill, the size of which belies its power. I have to say that when I first unpacked the drill I was slightly disappointed to see how small it was but after extensive use, I am able to confirm my delight in every respect.

The drill comes in a flimsy plastic case which is more akin to a child’s lunch box, but this is my only criticism. I would have preferred to see a stouter construction with a carrying handle.

It comes with integral 12V battery, charger, a selection of drivers and a flexible shaft useful for less accessible angles together with a couple of drill bits. Inition charging is five hours, full charge being indicated by the sole green light. The battery pack will only accept 100% charge after several cycles.

The chuck will accept drills up to 10mm diameter and does not require a chuck key to operate. It is variable speed controlled by pressure on the trigger. The rill tip is illuminated by a LED light when in use.

Very comfortable to use, lightweight in the hand with an excellent battery life. For what it is I cannot fault it. I would have given it five stars if its carrying case was more substantial.

I was surprised when opened the box to see how petite this drill is. Husband have 2- 3 good ones with bigger power so now time for something I can work with.
I’m a bit disappointed with the weak box it came with but I suppose it’s better than nothing. I expected special moulded case for this drill and bits. Drill is not cheap (60), I would even say it’s pretty expensive for its size so nice storage case should come with it.
At least there is handful of drill bits, small tools to go with this driver. The accessories which came with drill are:
    1 x Flexible Shaft,
    10 x 25mm drill Bits,
    1 x Magnetic holder,
    1 x HSS drill bit (4mm),
    1 x HSS drill bit (6mm).
Sometimes I need to fix something in the kitchen and manual screwdriver takes to much time and makes wrist aching after all. This drill is a big help for me. It’s not to heavy, is well built and is compact in size. Perfect for DIY ladies like myself 🙂
Drill, as most of them, can screw in and un-screw bolts, screws.
Near the battery is little light bulb which can help us to see properly when is not enough light.
Battery is only 12V, not so big, not so powerful, basically it will be enough for some small jobs around the house. But just in case, we need to make sure we always charge it before storing, we never know when we gonna need it, and having no time to wait 5 hours to have it fully charged. Battery is mounted with drill, it’s not removable so we just connect the charger to it and wait until shows green light.
I like this drill, it good for my needs. Drill is comfortable to hold, feels well made.
Currently it costs 60 but there is option to apply 40% voucher which will reduce the price to 36. For 36 without a doubt I would buy it again if needed.

This drill is about what you would expect for a non branded low budget. It works as well as I expected and will undertake many odd jobs. We live in an old farmhouse with very thick walls (even the professional drills have given up with our walls!) and we wouldn’t feel confident drilling into those- but we have used very well on the newer plasterboard false walls.

This is a practical and handy, compact power drill. Unlike some of the WESCO power tools this one has a fixed battery and not and removable one, so if the battery runs out mid-task you might have a problem, but there is a battery indicator which will tell you how much power there is left. Its small size is an obvious advantage for some tasks, yet it has enough power to do a good job, It has a variable speed motor, adjustable by the pressure on the trigger.

It comes with a few accessories and a charging unit, all contained in a not too substantial box. The drill itself seems quite robust and well made. It works well as a drill or driver.

This arrived in a handy box so very useful to keep everything in, would have been a nice touch to put a carry handle on the side but can’t really complain it’s still handy having something to store inot only the driver but the battery and charger.
On initial charge within the first 20 minutes the charger plug got so hot i decided to unplug it, but this was one of the days that reached 33 degrees outside so maybe the weather contributed.. I tried again a little while later and the plug got warm but not hot so left it charging for a while and there were no issues.
I have supplied pics so you can get a good idea of the whole product and hope this helps.
It seems a good little driver but i have yet to try the drill part, from the power i would guess maybe okay for drilling wood but it would never go through any concrete, and certainly not my walls which are near granite in composition (lucky like that…)
I am definitely happy with it, it’s a little weighty for my wrists but with the help of my son i can get around that and it does feel very sturdily built.
It comes with a selection of driver bits, 3 drill bits , a instruction manual and a ‘bendy thing’ (can’t remember the name) used for screwing in tight corners or around bends..
Only used so far for putting up a couple of brackets for my hoover and ironing board and as predicted still plenty of life in it so i am happy with this item and would recommend (just keep an eye on the charger warming).
It arrived on time and well packaged.

Cordless Drill, WESCO 12V Compact Drill Driver

I was surprised by the small size of this cordless drill, when compared to a full size drill it’s about half the size. This is not a bad thing as I often find my full size drill/driver a little too large for some jobs. This is just 12 volts so it’s not as powerful as the more common 18 volt models, but having said that, this does create a good deal of torque.

This does come supplied as a set complete with screw bits and drills as listed below, all are held within a plastic case. To be honest, I was quite disappointed in the plastic case as it’s shaped like a large lunch box with the lid looking quite thin and weak.

The drill battery is fixed, it cannot be removed for charging despite it appearing as if it’s removable. A charger is supplied in the box but it’s not particularly fast as it can take up to 5 hours to fully charge the battery. This has a 1.3 Ah lithium-ion battery so it may be advisable to fully charge the battery before or after each use?

The drill itself seems to be well made out of indestructible nylon material with hard silicone grip areas. It’s quite small and comfortable in the hand which gives good control whilst working. The keyless chuck will take a maximum size of 10 mm drill bit, this has no hammer button so masonry drilling will be difficult using this drill.

The best thing about this driver/drill is it’s size, it works great as a screwdriver, it’s also powerful enough for most drilling jobs. To be honest, I would have preferred a faster battery charger, 5 hours is a long time to wait if you are halfway through a DIY project. For the drill itself I would give 5 stars but for the charger and case I would have to say 3 stars.

This is a very handy lightweight drill/driver for around the house and garden,, just useful for those little jobs, certainly not for drilling walls/brick or concrete! get your hammer drill out for those jobs!
This is a nice little bit of kit, badly let down by the case which is a thin plastic box which I fear will not last for very long!
All that said, this is a very handy little drill/driver and is a useful and reasonably priced addition to my toolset!
