Easy install
Really easy install and seems like it will last a long time. Just found it a bit smaller than the measurements suggest … or the cat is fatter! He still manages to squeeze through if there is food inside. Cat is a 6.4 kg ginger tom.
Why a small bit of plastic is the difference between one and two way entry. Same unit.
Easy enough to fit and the cats love it. However the difference between one and two way flaps is just a small fitment that they don’t supply but charge a lot more for so it’s two way.
Fits in where old one was
My old cat flap is 25 years old and my puppy has been attacking it and i wanted a new replacment and was concerned I would find thgey changed size. It was brilliant I could just pop the new one on and am very happy well made functional uni

21 years ago I made a tunnel through the house wall, and added a catflap identical to this one. I just needed four holes and four screws. In the end I didn’t use the backplate at all, so a two way locking version would have been fine too.

This is a great product. Please note that I have a PVC rear door and a liner is definitely needed. Unfortunately the workman had already made a hole in the door before realising and then too late. The flap is still functional, however can see the wood around the flap. Fortunately it is smooth so kitty can make safe exit and entry.
Kitty loves his flap and used it straight away despite never having used a flap before unless in a previous life!

2 tips for replacing a Cate Mate cat flap
Just had to replace previous Cat Mate this month –previous one lasted about four to five years. Two points
1) Our puss is clever–he soon sussed how to open the four way tabs on the inside–so HEY PRESTO- I reversed the whole kit and the tabs are now on the outside-this works fine for me and Puss has stopped fiddling
2) Re the replacement-since it was only the flap that needed renewing-I only replaced the flap and have re-used the previous cat flap door liner. This eases installation for those with a horror of balancing screws through holes whilst standing with arms outstretched at the edge of an exterior door.

This a replacement for another Cat Mate flap and I would recommend to any cat owner looking for a new flap. It’s simple and easy to fit with tabs which can be used to either lock the flap completely or prevent opening on either side. Ideal if you want to keep out unwanted cats from entering your home at night time for example or you want to stop your cat from coming inside the house or escaping when it’s pill time! The flap swings nicely and is plenty large enough for an average sized cat. It’s well constructed and I see little that would get damaged or fail in this unit.
Have a 6.5 kg Maine Coon cat and needed larger cat flap for her. Over all mostly happy with what this door is. Arrived fast. Looked good and was easy to fit in our kitchen door (considering we already had all the tools). Cat manages to squeeze through it. Though if she grows any further I’ll have to get a different door (Maine Coons for you I guess).
Can’t comment on drafts as our kitchen door leads to a garage.
the only downside is the lock system. There are two slide buttons to clock the door. To open and close them you need to press and slide the button. Cats actually managing to close and open them by accident. My other cat just had and operation and is not allowed out. She digs as crazy on the flap. As a result she fully open the flap on one instance. So something to bear in mind

This is great, perfect dimensions, don’t actually use the locking mechanism anymore but it’s a useful feature.
Very simple to install! The cut out size on the information page was confusing but it comes with a card for you to cut around which was handy. I really like the shape of the cat flap as it allows for more space for my larger and older cat to get through. So far no problems with drafts from outside.
This has made my evenings more relaxing I have two cats and because one has a heart condition they stay in at night, by being able to control the flap, if one is in I don’t need to shut him in another room or risk not hearing the other one come in and having to lock my previous cat flap. It also does not flap in the wind like my previous magnetic flap

No draughts
Bought this as a replacement for an existing cat flap which let in a terrible draught. This was very straight forward to install, and includes a handy template for the required hole through your door. Now it’s in I can’t detect any draughts around it, it’s great. It took about a day for our six month old cat to come to terms with the new flap, now he’s in and out with no problems. Good price, easy to install, no draughts, happy cat; what else could you ask for?

Product worked but was a bit tricky to cut the hole in the door using a drill and keyhole saw – due to the rounded shape of the bottom of the flap. It’s quite possible that could have just cut a square but I followed the provided template.

My cat broke the existing flap (ten years old) I tried to buy a replacement locally, the shop had ‘just sold’ the only one they stocked, a new one would be in stock the following Thursday.the price would be 16.50.
I checked on line, found this one @about 12 including delivery, I ordered it and it arrived on the Wednesday, the day before my local supplier said she could get one into stock.
I saved 4 and had the flap fitted quicker than the local supplier could offer delivery, Brilliant.

Finally installed this cat flap which we got a couple of weeks ago. It functions as it says it should and looks good too.
However my cat is not at all sure about it and will not push it open or come through it unless it is held fully open. It’s going to take a lot of persuasion and patience but I’m sure we’ll get there.

My last pet-mate cat flap lasted 10 years. It was still OK but looked quite shabby, hence a new one. It was very easy to install, but it was going into the same place anyway. The 4 locking ways are very useful. Hopefully it will last as long as the first one.

Had this cat flap put in when I had double glazing fitted. My daughter’s spanial thought it was a dog flap and tried to get through and consequently broke the door off. I onlyhad to fit the outside half and it was easy.
Note that I’m writing this in reference to using it for a rabbit, I can’t comment on what a cat might do to it.
We have a rabbit that chooses whether to come in or go outside, initially we had to keep letting him in and out via the door but of course a cat flap is much easier. After a little coaxing over the course of a day or two he was readily able to use the cat flap as desired.
Installation is easy enough, we have it in a pvc panel. I intended to buy the version with the liner but mis-bought the one without, so in the end we improvised, fixing the two sides using silicon adhesive and making our own lining for it. You do have to get the sides lined up properly and squarely as the hole you get is very slightly bigger than the bit that goes into it.
It’s been fitted about 5 months without any problems. As it’s getting colder we haven’t had any problems with a draft coming in, and this flap goes straight into the living room. The brush sides apparently are good at preventing the draft.
All in all a decent flap for a rabbit.

In my experience, best cat flap on the market. I have them fitted in my flat door and both security doors at the entrances to my 4-flat building. My cats are medium to large and the flaps suit them well. Late evening when my cats are in for the night I lock all flaps. Easy to clean and attractive too.

Brillinat cat flap
Easy to fit, very compact and with a quality door lock mechanism. Slightly smoked perspex clear door. Totally draught proof and with silent cat entry and exit. only minor criticism is that the frame is off-white rather than the usual bright-white of painted doors. Overall though it’s just brilliant compared to the Staywell that I previously fitted that was draughty,cumbersome and so noisy each time our cats exited or entered. So full marks Cat Mate.

Ordered this 2 days ago from ‘Shop 4 Pets’ and received today, very quick delivery and excellent service. This catflap has replaced a ‘Catmate’ that we have had fitted for years, I unfortunately broke the flap on the old one so had to find a replacement quick. Our local stores only stocked ‘Staywell’ so I bought a ‘Staywell 300 Manual’. Unfortunately I have had to return it to the store because it was very noisy and the inadequate magnet was not enough to keep it closed when a strong wind was blowing, the flap was blowing out and also very noisy when in use, ie made a loud noise when the cat came through. I then decided to search on Amazon for another ‘Catmate’ which is much quieter when in use and it has a better seal on it with a strong enough magnet to keep it closed when the wind is blowing. One small gripe about the Catmate is they only supplied 4 small screws which were nowhere near long enough to go through a half inch panel of wood, it would have been nice if they had supplied a couple of different sizes as you do have to be careful not to get the wrong size as they screw into a very small plastic hole in the catflap, I think if you put the wrong screws in you would be in danger of easily breaking the plastic. Apart from this it is an excellent catflap compared to the Staywell 300.
I’ve had many cat flaps over the years, in fact, for 16 yrs I had a dog flap for my Border Collie, which the cats all used quite happily. When my dog went, I got a proper cat flap..you know, smaller, less draught coming in. After going through 3 Staywells..kept breaking the door flap pins due to the main cat believing she was being chased by monsters, I chose this one. It has a larger door, and is much easier for my main cat to look through for the aforesaid monsters!. It has 4 different ways of locking, in, out, in and out,or locked completely. The door is a heavier perspex than anything we’ve had before, so Mischief has to push harder (poor thing, she’s enormous but SUCH a delicate lady!!), while the other two, a 19 yr old and a 6 month old have no problems at all. It’s a sturdy little door. The only problem I had was a) it was a bit narrower than the door panel, so my husband sorted that by routing out the door panel and recessing the flap…looks good. It should teach me to read the dimensions more thoroughly!, and b) the catches are a bit awkward to use. Once you’re used to them, they’re not so bad, but it does take a little time to get used to how tight they are to move. All in all, it seems quite good, although only time will tell……and the size of Mischief’s ‘monsters’!
