So much easier than my petrol versions. Obviously not as powerful but super sharp blades and very easy to handle.
I was pleasantly surprised by the light weight, the power and the battery life, absolutely great. I’ve since added a circular saw, and an orbital sander, to my existing hedge trimmer, and drill.
Does exactly what it says on the tin. Another great product from DeWalt.
As long as your being sensible in using this tool, it’ll do all what is designed to do
Works well does a nice clean cut. Good safety features as well
As I already had batteries from my other dewalt tools this was ideal, the only problem is this weight’s more than my old hedge trimmer but it works well and has a better cu
Having cut through the cable of my 240 volt Bosch hedge-trimmer for the 3rd time in 2 years, (the lead is now the length of a (small and underfed)) earthworm)… I decided to look at cordless models. I bought Dewalt because I already have a Dewalt cordless screwdriver, a Dewalt cordless impact drill, and 2 x Dewalt cordless normal drills…..which meant that I already had 4 of the required XR 18 volt batteries! (otherwise 50 or so each!) So THAT is why I bought the Dewalt ( “body only”.) Now….to be fair to Dewalt, my 60 yard long by 12 feet high by 12 feet across conifer was always going to be too much for any make of cordless hedge trimmer, but I relied on my constant flow of existing batteries, and putting one back on charge as soon as it died, as if a little production line. This did enable me to work pretty much continously. However two of my batteries were older (1.3. a.h.), which lasted about 15 minutes each. The other two were newer 2 a.h, which gave me approx 30 or so minutes. (for the uninitiatedededed (I know how to spell it; I just dont know when to stop..) “a.h. = amp hours..and the preceding number is how many hours it takes for that battery to drain at 20 watts per hour useage. …yawn….but for non geeks, basically the practical result is that the the higher the number the longer it lasts. Note! A 2.a.h battery does NOT last 2 hours, because the hedge trimmer uses power at a rate in excess of 20 watts per hour. They DO now make a 5 a.h. battery, but as I have a mortgage to pay, and a lethal Red Wine habit, (if you like it powerful and deep try Barossa Ink..or B. ink, its baby brother from the Barossa Velly in Australia. available at Tescos.) Sorry…where was I ?? Aha ! Yes. Back to how to trim your bush… It was great NOT to worry about an electric cable wrapping around my legs when up the ladder, and there was a freedom of movement, and it speeded things up a bit as opposed to ascending and descending with a cabled trimmer, and moving the extension lead reel every time. It is of course not as powerful as a 240 volt, but coped fine with branches about the thickness of my forefinger when it had to. One thing I missed; the old Bosch had the safety cut out section on both the top and side of the handle, allowing you to rotate the trimmer easily for awkward cuts. The Dewalt only has it on the top of the handle, so I did get some nasty tendon pain in my forearm the next day or two. THAT said, the job took me 4 hours. A normal little domestic garden hedge, maybe 15ft long by 3ft high by 18” wide of privet, would probably be easy and GREAT with the Dewalt, and would use only one battery charge. I have a third of an acre to deal with, much of it up ladders, so I am putting a HUGE demand on it. I hope that helps somebody. If only to get a bottle of Barossa Ink, (Tescos approx 10 …or 9 sometimes with club card. Please send donations to…….Steve.
package arrived on time, you have to use 2 hands all the time it can not be used 1 handed, unlles you tape the safety handle closed, which i do not recommend
Came two days earlier than expected.
Usual dewalt quality. Nicely balanced easy to use. I have a number of dewalt tools so this being a bare unit was just what I needed, I have a few XR batteries.
Cut through the hedge easily in no time at all. I used a 4 ah batter so plenty of power.
I’m very leased with this purchase.
smoothly cuts through hedging.
useing a 5ah Li battery for 45min barely took 1st dot off the battery capacity.
I did not get batteries with it as already had Dewalt batteries. The only one thing that I don’t like is having to press really hard with both hands to keep it going. Not easy on high hedges
Absolutely brilliant and female using it the weight was good. Good safety features. Really easy to use. Quietly efficient. Completely happy with my purchase.
The Dewalt DCM563 Hedge timmer arrived as advised. Slapped a battery (4 Amp) and started on 300 ft of conifer hedging. I was impressed with the way it chewed through the hedge.
The only critism of the trimmer is its reach, it could do with an extra 10 cm but otherwise very pleased with the purchase.
Great quality, just as you’d expect from Dewalt. Cuts really well, even on thicker branches.
Using my own 4Ah batteries it worked very well in woodland where the brambles were becoming a nuisance
Excellent bit of kit usual dewalt quality on a 4ah battery lasted well beyond expectations and beats trailing cables. Well recommended.
Light and easy to use lasts forever with a 5 amp battery
Absolutely amazing tool, one of the best tools I have ever purchased. I love using it, it is light and very powerful and does last a long time providing you use good quality batteries with it. Brilliant quality and does a great job. Before this tool I had a petrol one and an electric one, the electric one I used 4 times and cut through the wire 4 times. This is the product to purchase for sure..
I have bought a few DeWalt pieces of equipment. Having had various ones over the many years I have been diy-ing, I found that they are way above the rest. Worth paying a little more
Takes the hassle and worry about cutting through the power lead makes the job so much easier.I already had 18v power tools so no need to buy batteries & charger.
One 3 amp hour battery did all the cutting I needed without a re-charge.
So glad I bit the bullet and got this.we’ll recommended
Usual Dewalt brand quality. Fitted with a 4AH batter the performance is excellent, well balanced and not to heavy.
Price seems to fluctuate between suppliers so worth waiting.
I have bought cheap cordless trimmers before and they always go flat before I’ve finished, so I thought I would spend some money. I am so glad I did, when used with a 5 ah battery which I already had for my other dewalt tools I finished the hedge with two lights still on the battery. Yes it is expensive if you need to get a battery as well but you get what you pay for. I wish I had got one years ago.
I was apprehensive about a battery hedge cutter, having always used a corded one, but it has the same power with no leads to cut through. Great bit of kit!!
I purchased this after cutting through the cable of my old Black & decker shears, which I have since repaired. I have 2 large edges & they do the job brilliantly for me & without dragging a cable about. The battery is still at full charge after cutting them both. Great product.
Wanted to buy first a cable hedge trimmer to avoid battery problems and save. I’m so happy i’ve go this battery operated DE WALT. It is just top quality. Safety features are there and a bit tricky if want to use 1 hand in some situations. 2 hands are compulsory during operation. Blade top. Battery 5amp did work for quite a bit to finish off a large hedge. Quite light weight.
Cuts very well, lightweight and very very convenient. Used petrol (noisy and a pain to start when left for any period of time) and corded ( easy to cut through if not careful) before but this is perfect. Good quality as youd expect from dewalt.
