Great bit of ki
So much easier than my petrol versions. Obviously not as powerful but super sharp blades and very easy to handle.
Light weight yet powerful
I was pleasantly surprised by the light weight, the power and the battery life, absolutely great. I’ve since added a circular saw, and an orbital sander, to my existing hedge trimmer, and drill.
Does what it's designed fo
Does exactly what it says on the tin. Another great product from DeWalt.
As long as your being sensible in using this tool, it’ll do all what is designed to do
Great small little cutte
Works well does a nice clean cut. Good safety features as well
Replacement for my old hedge trimme
As I already had batteries from my other dewalt tools this was ideal, the only problem is this weight’s more than my old hedge trimmer but it works well and has a better cu
Having cut through the cable of my 240 volt Bosch hedge-trimmer for the 3rd time in 2 years, (the lead is now the length of a (small and underfed)) earthworm)… I decided to look at cordless models. I bought Dewalt because I already have a Dewalt cordless screwdriver, a Dewalt cordless impact drill, and 2 x Dewalt cordless normal drills…..which meant that I already had 4 of the required XR 18 volt batteries! (otherwise 50 or so each!) So THAT is why I bought the Dewalt ( “body only”.) Now….to be fair to Dewalt, my 60 yard long by 12 feet high by 12 feet across conifer was always going to be too much for any make of cordless hedge trimmer, but I relied on my constant flow of existing batteries, and putting one back on charge as soon as it died, as if a little production line. This did enable me to work pretty much continously. However two of my batteries were older (1.3. a.h.), which lasted about 15 minutes each. The other two were newer 2 a.h, which gave me approx 30 or so minutes. (for the uninitiatedededed (I know how to spell it; I just dont know when to stop..) “a.h. = amp hours..and the preceding number is how many hours it takes for that battery to drain at 20 watts per hour useage. …yawn….but for non geeks, basically the practical result is that the the higher the number the longer it lasts. Note! A 2.a.h battery does NOT last 2 hours, because the hedge trimmer uses power at a rate in excess of 20 watts per hour. They DO now make a 5 a.h. battery, but as I have a mortgage to pay, and a lethal Red Wine habit, (if you like it powerful and deep try Barossa Ink..or B. ink, its baby brother from the Barossa Velly in Australia. available at Tescos.) Sorry…where was I ?? Aha ! Yes. Back to how to trim your bush… It was great NOT to worry about an electric cable wrapping around my legs when up the ladder, and there was a freedom of movement, and it speeded things up a bit as opposed to ascending and descending with a cabled trimmer, and moving the extension lead reel every time. It is of course not as powerful as a 240 volt, but coped fine with branches about the thickness of my forefinger when it had to. One thing I missed; the old Bosch had the safety cut out section on both the top and side of the handle, allowing you to rotate the trimmer easily for awkward cuts. The Dewalt only has it on the top of the handle, so I did get some nasty tendon pain in my forearm the next day or two. THAT said, the job took me 4 hours. A normal little domestic garden hedge, maybe 15ft long by 3ft high by 18” wide of privet, would probably be easy and GREAT with the Dewalt, and would use only one battery charge. I have a third of an acre to deal with, much of it up ladders, so I am putting a HUGE demand on it. I hope that helps somebody. If only to get a bottle of Barossa Ink, (Tescos approx 10 …or 9 sometimes with club card. Please send donations to…….Steve.
Hedge Trimme
package arrived on time, you have to use 2 hands all the time it can not be used 1 handed, unlles you tape the safety handle closed, which i do not recommend
Great dewalt trimme
Came two days earlier than expected.
Usual dewalt quality. Nicely balanced easy to use. I have a number of dewalt tools so this being a bare unit was just what I needed, I have a few XR batteries.
Cut through the hedge easily in no time at all. I used a 4 ah batter so plenty of power.
I’m very leased with this purchase.
Excekent tool
smoothly cuts through hedging.
useing a 5ah Li battery for 45min barely took 1st dot off the battery capacity.
But awkward to use. Have to grip hard to keep it going very safe though
I did not get batteries with it as already had Dewalt batteries. The only one thing that I don’t like is having to press really hard with both hands to keep it going. Not easy on high hedges
Dewault battery hedgetrimme
Absolutely brilliant and female using it the weight was good. Good safety features. Really easy to use. Quietly efficient. Completely happy with my purchase.
Excellent piece of ki
The Dewalt DCM563 Hedge timmer arrived as advised. Slapped a battery (4 Amp) and started on 300 ft of conifer hedging. I was impressed with the way it chewed through the hedge.
The only critism of the trimmer is its reach, it could do with an extra 10 cm but otherwise very pleased with the purchase.
Brilliant!
Great quality, just as you’d expect from Dewalt. Cuts really well, even on thicker branches.
Brilliant for those places where there is no mains power!
Using my own 4Ah batteries it worked very well in woodland where the brambles were becoming a nuisance
Great bit of ki
Excellent bit of kit usual dewalt quality on a 4ah battery lasted well beyond expectations and beats trailing cables. Well recommended.
Excellent produc
Light and easy to use lasts forever with a 5 amp battery
Hedge Cutter, the BEST
Absolutely amazing tool, one of the best tools I have ever purchased. I love using it, it is light and very powerful and does last a long time providing you use good quality batteries with it. Brilliant quality and does a great job. Before this tool I had a petrol one and an electric one, the electric one I used 4 times and cut through the wire 4 times. This is the product to purchase for sure..
The best one I know
I have bought a few DeWalt pieces of equipment. Having had various ones over the many years I have been diy-ing, I found that they are way above the rest. Worth paying a little more
Should have got one years ago
Takes the hassle and worry about cutting through the power lead makes the job so much easier.I already had 18v power tools so no need to buy batteries & charger.
One 3 amp hour battery did all the cutting I needed without a re-charge.
So glad I bit the bullet and got this.we’ll recommended
Great choice
Usual Dewalt brand quality. Fitted with a 4AH batter the performance is excellent, well balanced and not to heavy.
Price seems to fluctuate between suppliers so worth waiting.
Get what you pay for.
I have bought cheap cordless trimmers before and they always go flat before I’ve finished, so I thought I would spend some money. I am so glad I did, when used with a 5 ah battery which I already had for my other dewalt tools I finished the hedge with two lights still on the battery. Yes it is expensive if you need to get a battery as well but you get what you pay for. I wish I had got one years ago.
Great piece of kit!!
I was apprehensive about a battery hedge cutter, having always used a corded one, but it has the same power with no leads to cut through. Great bit of kit!!
Performs better than I expected
I purchased this after cutting through the cable of my old Black & decker shears, which I have since repaired. I have 2 large edges & they do the job brilliantly for me & without dragging a cable about. The battery is still at full charge after cutting them both. Great product.
Great quality
Wanted to buy first a cable hedge trimmer to avoid battery problems and save. I’m so happy i’ve go this battery operated DE WALT. It is just top quality. Safety features are there and a bit tricky if want to use 1 hand in some situations. 2 hands are compulsory during operation. Blade top. Battery 5amp did work for quite a bit to finish off a large hedge. Quite light weight.
Great piece of equipme
Cuts very well, lightweight and very very convenient. Used petrol (noisy and a pain to start when left for any period of time) and corded ( easy to cut through if not careful) before but this is perfect. Good quality as youd expect from dewalt.
Dewalt excellent quality everytime.
Another addition to the Dewalt collection. Does exactly what it’s supposed to do.
Great hedge trimme
This hedge cutter is both light weight and powerful. The battery lasts for long enough to cut quite a large hedge. It helps that the batteries are interchangeable with other smaller hand tools.
Very good
I was able to cut 12 meter wide hedge with a single 5ah Battery.
its quite an efficient piece of kit.
Just need to make sure to lubricate it before and after use.
I have the pole trimmer and chainsaw from DeWalt and have been very happy with those so thought I would try the standard trimmer. I also have a lot of DeWalt tools so have plenty of batteries.
The trimmer is in the normal yellow box, with nothing other than a brief user guide. I was slightly surprised there wasn’t a harness of any type. Also slightly surprised at how large the motor unit is. All in all it is a very impressive piece of kit, it really smacks of quality and considering it’s DeWalt value for money. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Construction is excellent, with all the switches very positive and the safety very easy to operate. Blade is very sharp as you would expect. It’s light and powerful.
First thing I did was try a 2ah and a 5ah battery. These are two new batteries that had both been recently charged to 100%. I have to say that I was very surprised by the outcome. The trimmer operates very well with the 2ah but it operates noticeably faster and with greater cutting power if you use a 5ah battery. So, I would say a 2ah is fine for general trimming but if you need something with a little bit more power then you need 5ah batteries.
I have two 5ah batteries and a 6a charger and found that by the time one ran out the other was charged, so I could keep going indefinitely without a break.
Great build quality. Highly recommended.
Amazing
I have a long, high Hawthorne, Holly, with a mix of ivy, hedge to keep under control. I tend to leave the hedge until as far into summer as I can so that I only need cut it twice per season. That’s how much I hate doing this job. Over the years I’ve used petrol and electric with a cable trimmers and both do the job but are heavy and unwieldy, especially from a ladder. Anyway I bought this Dewalt hoping it would make life easier and, quite simply, it has. It isn’t as light as you’d imagine but it is lighter than the others mentioned and I enjoy not having a cable to worry about which makes the jobs so much more pleasant. The blades are so sharp it slices easily even through tough Hawthorne. I can cut my hedge with just one battery, though it is running more sluggishly by the end. To me this didn’t matter as I have a few Dewalt tools and spare batteries too. If you have a lot of hedge to cut you may want to have two batteries on hand just in case. I certainly don’t regret buying this tool at all and highly recommend it for domestic use.
Great Produc
Good Quality tool as always from Dewalt.
Just purchased the bare unit as Already have batteries for other tools.
The small 2 Ah battery makes it lighter to use and lasted enough to cut plenty of bushes.
Great addition to dewalt collectio
Really happy with the hedge trimmer. I already had 2 4ah batteries. Cut two hedges so far and battery still says 3/3 bars of charge. Not too heavy and easy to use, feels safe as well as requires 2 buttons to operate.
Good quality
Both it as a bare unit and used a 5ah battery. Really happy with the produc
Powerfull
Light weight – powerful – great battery life on a 5amp hou
An exalelent value for money
An exalelent value for money with a good battery life, and the the blades will cut quite thick hedge branches with ease
Good build quality
Great hedge cutter with good power and good gap between cutting teeth, great build quality and would recommend
Good quality and cu
Bought this to replace a corded version. Ease of cutting is so much better and did the job in half the time. Slightly heavy to hold but do not let this put you off buying. I already had a dewalt screwdriver with 2 batteries included so bought this bare unit and saved money
Absolute brilliant.
Packs more power than you think. Highly recommend. You won’t regret it!
MORE THAN CAPABLE HEDGE TRIMMER
Very impressed with this machine. More than able to deal with cutting my 5m high, 2m wide and 30m long hedge. (See attached photos)
Few things to note regarding weight. Listing states weight of 2.5kg, it is NOT! Dewalt box states 3.5kg, it is NOT! Actual weight with a 2ah battery is nearer 3kg which is manageable. 5ah battery does make it quite heavy but better balanced. I used a 2ah battery 4 times to cut the main hedge, each battery lasting around 25 mins of cutting time. If your cutting a Laylandii hedge like mine, I would make sure you well oil the cutters with 3 in1 oil or equivalent after each battery change and before you put it away for the winter. Other than that it’s a very well made, heavy duty machine and well worth the money.
Well made good quality item
Nice versatile tool for tidying up the hedges and tall bushes, no cables to get in the way when cutting. Love it but recommend the 5 amp battery for it, plenty of power without running out of battery life.
Lives up to my other dewalt tools
Good bit of kit, but needs the 5Ah battery, 2AH battery only last about 10min.
Dewalt dcm563pb Hedge Trimme
Very good product , I find it very easy to use a lot quicker than using hand shears .I bought the bare only as I already had a suitable battery I could use .
Hot knife through butte
Great piece of kit cuts through the hedge like a hot knife through butter maybe not as light weight as I hoped but being cordless more than makes up for tha
It’s a match
Working with the same powerful batteries that operate other power tools I own, this was a natural choice. Light and easy to use, cut120 meters of mixed beech and hawthorn hedging with ease. Recommended.
