We loved this fire. Looks amazing. However within 24 days the heater stopped working, no big deal usually as still in the 30 days of Amazons replacement/refund policy. We wanted a straight replacement but Amazon said no. So we accepted a refund on receipt of the old one ( which we had to find a box to return it in ) . I went to buy the same item and it had gone up from 418.00 to 545 overnight. ( 127.00 increase ) Fuming to say the least.

If you like the cosiness of real flames, but don’t/can’t have a real log burner this really is the next best thing. I have it on all day without the heating element and it consumes next to no electricity. If I switch heating element on it heats the room immediately. It is wonderful. My doggo loves it too

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI love the realistic effect of the flames! The fire was easy to put together and is quite solid. There are pictorial instructions with the fire, but I found it easier to follow a YouTube video. It is quite fiddly to get the lights fitted into their place on the unit, but do-able. The refillable water container is much easier to get seated. It is filled using filtered water as tap water has too much minerals in it. When the fire is first switched on, the flames effect is quite “smoky” (steam) but keep the front door slightly open and this disappears after a while. You are left with a beautiful burning log effect with none of the dirt or pollution or danger that a solid fuel stove produces. A really great fire if you have children or pets.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this to put in a large empty brick fireplace. It has cheered the space up very nicely. If you don’t look too closely it is quite convincing as a log burning stove.
I bought it as an open box offer, which saved me 130.
The item description warned that there would be small cosmetic damages to top and or sides. Upon opening it, I found that the log bed was quite badly damaged. Luckily I’m quite good at jigsaw puzzles so spent an hour or more glueing it back together. Not perfect as some bits were missing, leaving a few small gaps.
Any hoo, onwards and upwards. It was not too hard to figure out instructions, and I soon had it up and running. The flame effect is pleasing, and once I’d placed a couple of small real logs over the holey bits of the broken log bed, it was even more pleasing.
On to the actual heater. Yes it’s okay. Basically a fan heater with two settings. I do find it a bit noisy, but no more than expected. It will be used to take the chill off the room when it’s in use at meal times. The flame effect will be in use more often as it gives a cosy ambience to the room.
I think I may invest in a replacement log bed at some point, and also a stove pipe to give it a more authentic look.
On the whole I am quite happy with this purchase.

Looks the part. Does the job. Don't expect it to feel as solid as the real thing.

Does what you expect. 4x 45w bulbs is a bit of a strange design option that can’t be changed as used best from bulbs to raise the mist. Perhaps a fan could have been a more efficient option? Also the remote control is pointless. You can turn flames on and off. That’s about it. Heat controls are manual. Overall, it’s an ok electric fire.

Dimplex Gosforth is a great electric fire. It looks the part. Very sturdy. The realistic flame effect is amazing. It mimics logs burning on a stove. The 2kw heater gives off loads of heat and is quiet. We bought the fire for the focal point effect in our living room. I would highly recommend any of the Dimplex Optimyst fires based on our experience.

The Opti-myst effect is good, it is like watching a real log burning in a stove.

I have two coal fires. I love them, but won’t be able to buy coal after next February.
Wood is an option, but burns faster than coal, making it an expensive option. Woodburners are expensive to buy and fit, and have been proven to increase cancers in areas where they are common.
Gas is also on its way out, and has just doubled in price.
I loved the idea of these electric stoves, but found it difficult to part with hundreds of pounds for a glorified lamp on top of a fan heater.
Then this was on a lightning deal…
It looks totally real, so good for my soul.
Coal was costing me 1 an hour. The gas central heating costs me 40p an hour at the moment, soon to be double that.
On full blast, this costs 27p an hour. That makes it uncomfortably hot and stuffy, I only put up with it for an hour to cost it.
The thermostat is really handy, to be able to run it on a lower setting yet still keep the room warm, whilst turning the heating down to background heat for the rest of the house.
It is quite noisy, but only if you are sitting in silence by yourself. Even when I’m reading, or working on the computer, I’ve got music on in the background, so it’s not an issue for me. And when I’ve got friends round… I’m way noisier than the fan heater!
Love it. Just love it. Thank you Amazon!

Fire flame is so realistic. Even confirmed real fire enthusiasts have said how nice it is!
We purchased with harth stone & flue which when together look superb.
Spent some time comparing fires before purchase and do glad I did. This fire has transformed my lounge. Only downside is I watch it instead of the telly!

Easy to assemble looks lovely and feels cosy! I think the actual material of fire looks a little cheap but that’s what you get with the price. Also the top flute that is recommended os flimsy and moves about without bolting to wall

We love this fire. It pumps out the heat and looks very realistic. However it arrived with the artificial log element broken and the supplier couldn’t get an answer or spare part from the manufacturer. It had been minimally packed so I’m not surprised it broke. We got a small refund and are sticking it back together ourselves although it’s a bit of a jigsaw.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIf you can’t have the real thing, then this is a great alternative. It cosy, the flame is realistic and it heats the room well. The only thing I felt like it could have had is the pipe, but regardless it’s so realistic. We use it accompanied with fire sounds on our Google speaker and we also spray the “Fireside” room spray by the White Company…it doesn’t get closer to the real thing than that! If the window gets a lot of condensation then consider turning the steam or size of the flame down, otherwise keep the door ever so slightly ajar. We have only had this for a few days but first impressions are great!

I bought this fire for our newly decorated living room, as we’d opened up the fireplace and wanted the look of a log burner but didn’t want the mess of a real stove and I am not disappointed. This is a beautiful stove which has the most realistic flame effect with the use of steam – if it is on and you came into the room you wouldn’t know it wasn’t an actual log burner – I am delighted with it. The Amazon price was also excellent – most places were charging about 40 more than the price we paid so great buy all round!

I’ve only had this for a few days so time will tell how this is to live with, but first impressions are very good. This is the most realistic “fake” fire i’ve ever seen, build quality is very good.

Fairly easy to put together with the instructions, don’t forget to buy the water filter jug if you don’t have one. Some reviews have said to use distilled water, but the instructions clearly state to not use distilled water?. With the flame effect on full blast it looks more like lots of smoke, but turned down to a lower setting they look like flames.

There aren’t sounds so i’ve combined this with an echo dot for the ambient fireplace crackling and an alexa smart plug to turn the fire on and off with voice control, this is a bit hit and miss with getting the fire to start with the last used settings so you will need to keep the remote handy. The remote itself is a bit temperamental, (my only gripe with this unit). Heat output from the fan is good, same sound as a standard fan heater.

Great product, delivered on time, simple to set up and super realistic. However this fire is not just plug in and forget, it needs to be looked after a little. Use filtered water first of all, clean the resonator in vinegar once a fortnight and don’t screw the water tank cap up too tightly. Also remove and dry all components if you are not going to use the fire for longer than a week. Lots of info online if you search around, including much cheaper alternative spare parts. Great buy and very happy. PS if you find the glass fogs up, just leave the door open a little.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe fire and optomist are a very good effect, and look great if u cant have the real thing. I had to go out and buy a water filter as its recommended that you only use filtered water to prolong the life of the optimist mechanism, so thats a bit of a hassel i thought. Also you can’t just have the fire light on if you dont have the water tank filled, you must have the mist on too, again i thought was a bit of a pain. I do feel its expensive for what it is, ive seen very similar fires without the optimist for less than half the price. However it is a nice effect, my 2yr old granddaughter loves it and to be honest so do i and its a great Xmas decoration too lol. When mine arrived the logs were broken, so instead of sending it back to Amazon, i called the help number on the box the fire came in (big yellow sticker saying call us first if you have any issues with this item on reciving it) and they sent me out a new log bed very quickly. I find the remote control a bit hit n miss, but the control on the fire are easily accessible, then the remote control is just to turn it off when u go to bed. Heat output is very good and quite quiet too, its a good heat blast on a cold morning. Would i reccomed this fire……..it dose exactly what its says it dose, and it dose it very well, so if your happy with the price then yes i would recommend it, I’m certainly not sending mine back thats for sure.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersYes its expensive but you certainly get what you pay for – the optimyst system is simply amazing and it really does look like real flames coming out – it’s fooled everyone who has seen it so far. The only minor gripe would be having to fill the water tub but a full tub tends to last us 2 to 3 days with evening use and its no hardship to fill – takes a couple of minutes. Set up was fairly easy and the instructions are clear – only issue I had was that I found it difficult to get the lamps in place. Certainly the best and most realistic fake log fire out there.

Great looking fire if you can’t have the real thing. We use it more for its look than for our main heating. Some report that the water has to be replaced too often but we’ve not had issues with this. A full tank will last for a couple of evenings on full before needing to be topped up.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersBrought it for show only, haven’t used the heat setting as yet. Had damaged logs but I emailed the supplier and a spare was sent straight away, but actually seems to still work as it is unnoticeable. Looks nice . The water steam setting needs to be set low or it just steams up, see photos, I’ve also taken out 2 of the bulbs as I think it’s too bright with all 4 in,I left the 2 outer ones in as they do get really hot, see photos to see if you notice the difference last photo is with only two bulbs. I have a set of bulbs on order that are LED so if any good I will update my review. We got this on offer at 389. Personally I wouldn’t pay anymore for it. But we do love it only had this a few days, cant have the real thing but this is very close to a log burner. update U have brought 2 led bulbs that work and are much cheaper to run but you will still need to use 2 of the original ones . See last 3 photos using just the 2 bulbs.

What’s not to love about this fire. It’s great realistic and looks great have bought a flue to make it look more like a real one.
First fire arrived with sadly a smashed door, Amazon were great about it, replacement sent out immediately. Damaged one returned free via hermes so all great.
I love the fire, can’t have a real one so this has satisfied me.

We bought this to go in our fireplace after our chimney became unusable. Also wanted to be a bit greener and have an electric fire over burning wood etc.
Very realistic for a fake fire, the flames and fake logs are pretty good and you wouldn’t realise its fake unless you focused on it. We have to refill the water about once a day if we have it on all day – which is a small inconvenience but nothing compared to having to add logs to a real fire. Using filtered water is pretty important so there is no limescale build-up. The fan is quite noisy but not too bad if playing music or chatting etc – only notice it when the room is quiet.
Overall a great fake fire and really pleased with it.

The fire was bought to have a flame effect without having to clean, lay and light our real fire every time. We chose this one after looking at all different types of fire as it was regarded as having the most realistic flame. The fire was easy to assemble as there were text and picture instructions and I managed it in under 5 minutes. Once we set it away we both loved the flame and how it takes just one click of the remote to get the effect we want. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a mid sized fire.

Looks the part. Clever “smoke” effect. Mainly metal so shoudl last. Fiddly to put together with lacking instructions. A little noisy, so will not leave on all the time as we have central heating, but warms a small room quickly as it is a blower. Overpriced for what it is. Will it stand the test of time? Not sure, they stress on about filtered water so suspect it is prone to blocking up.
