My only criticism is that some of the Dremel accessories aren’t brilliant and are a bit pricey. I tend to look out for the Silverline brand tools as they are good value. One accessory from Dremel I would say is a must is the Dremel 4486 Chuck. If you do buy a Dremel get this as it makes fitting drill bits, cutters etc much easier and quicker.

Came really fast, the packaging and the product is great, just as described.
Very good service, excellent prices.
Product conditions market “very good” and exceed expectations as well.
I purchased for a small crafting project. The Dremel is easy to control using the extension drive.
I just got it and use it for cutting a stock bolts
great product best price on the net, quick and easy for fitting the different tools, and comes complete with holdall to keep everything together. Highly recommended.
Ideal for continuous use, better than the cordless one, but the cordless one is brilliant when working away from power.
Great variety of attachments, super handy and useful around the house and will also help with some fine cleaning/polishing ony motorcycle chrome
I love my Dremel. It is amazing how many things you find it is useful for. Once you have one of these you wonder how you managed without it. It makes so many jobs easy that would otherwise be difficult or not done properly. There are a multitude of different bits and fittings available to cover almost anything you might want to do. The variable speed is also so much better than the old fixed speed version I used to have. It would be even better if the case had more space avalaible for storing the extra bits and pieces that you will inevitably buy as there is no spare space because it is all taken up with the supplied accessories. Adding a second drawer to the case would make this absolutely brilliant.
Used for making a hole in laminate flooring to fit around radiator pipe.
When drill arrived (on prime) a bit was missing.
Reordered as original faulty but replacement took longer to arrive than if I had ordered another on prime. Why?
Product itself good price and very useful bit of kit!
I purchased two of these. One for my son and one for my partner. Both of them are enjoying the tool, using different parts and creating all sorts of things. They are very happy with the product and are looking to buy more parts for it. They are even building equipment to assist them in using the tool. Looking online for ideas to assist the tool and for other uses of it, etc. They both think the Dremel is a great tool to have and couldn’t wait to receive them. There’s no stopping them now.
If you are wondering what the 4/65 is referring to, there are 4 attachments included in the set and 65 accessories. These are all stored inside a hard plastic case and this set also includes a removable tool holder with a cord wrap that can be hung on the wall for neat storage.
On opening the hard plastic case I found everything neatly placed inside and it was obvious that a lot of thought had gone into designing it. I checked all of the contents and everything was there. There are a lot of accessories and they cover a lot of useful applications. Sanding, grinding, cutting, shaping, sharpening, carving and polishing. There is a small block of polishing compound and also included in the set is the EZ SpeedClic Starter Set. In my opinion this should be included in the attachment list as it is so useful. It is a quick fit mandrel with two metal cutting disks. I show it in the attached video.
The attachments are:
Flex Shaft — this is a must have for the Dremel if you are planning to do a lot of work. It is much easier to use than the Dremel itself and makes fiddly jobs much easier to handle.
Line and Circle Cutter — you can cut out neat circles in wood with this attachment which is basically a small trammel bar, great for making coasters or anything that requires a small accurate disk. It can also be used to cut straight lines along the edge of a straight piece of wood.
Shaping Platform — for sanding wood at 90 degrees or chamfering at 45 degrees as well as other uses.
Detailer’s Grip — a small handle designed to make delicate and accurate work easier by improving the way the tool is held in the hand. Used for engraving, power carving and etching.
In use the Dremel is very smooth and feels like a quality tool. It has a variable speed from 5000 to 35000 rpm. It has a comfortable feel to it and changing the accessories is easy. I have used mine a fair bit since I purchased it. Some of the video is taken from one project I just completed involving metal work. I have used it for carving a little lizard and it was a real pleasure with the flex shaft and sanding drums. I have a lot of sanding drums and mandrels that are not made by Dremel, they are way cheaper and you may wish to look for options when replacing accessories as Dremel are so expensive. On the other hand the Dremel attachments are well made and I think they are also good value for money.
I purchased the set with the wall mount because it was actually cheaper than the set without due to an offer at the time. Personally, I think the wall mount is fiddly to place the tool in to and take it out of and will not be using it. It does however make placing everything into the hard plastic case much easier and keeps it neat and tidy. Just something to think about. Also in my opinion, the only attachment you really need to buy is the Flex Shaft, so you should consider whether to go for a smaller set depending on what you want to use it for. I am happy with this set and do not regret buying it. It is a great starter set and is capable of so many different tasks straight out of the box. There is also the reassurance of buying a Dremel Rotary Tool!
I love my dremel4000, I have used it extensively on wood/metal work. the flex extension is gift and the carry case is very durable.
Bought in Dec 2017 died in Feb 2020. Shame!
Dremel are quality and more expensive that others – bought tgis at the right price so happy
Apparently this is the answer to my husband prayers… he’s very pleased and amazed at what it can do. He’s happy! Good value for money from Amazon.
There’s nothing to dislike about about Dremel. The only thing is the instructions, They don’t show how to fit the flexible shaft.
I have dreamt about this for years now I have the time this is the one i got Because it has various speeds and it’s mains
Works great although it does get worrying hot in use. Minus 1 star for the awful manual, it’s pretty much useless and doesn’t tell you anything apart from obscure pictogrames for multiple models that confuse more than help.
It was definitely worth the money and really happy I didn’t skimp out. I especially like the extension as having small, weak hands and carpal tunnel trying to wield the main unit would be difficult, so to have something you can use like a pencil is so much easier and with more control you can get more detail. It is also far quieter than I expected with the lower speeds being quiet enough that I can use it at night without the neighbors being able to hear it!
I’m sure I will have many uses for this dremel outside of just carving and with so many accessories available it has the potential to do a massive amount of tasks.
buy the Dremel 2615448632 Keyless Quick Change Multi Tool Chuck 4486 to go with it as it will save you time
Handy tool to have in the workshop
Only time will tell if buying this, the more expensive branded multitool, will pay off, you can get cheaper versions out there but I was worried that I’d buy something underpowered that would break within 5 mins and so went with this one instead. So far so good……….
his Dremel drill is excellent. comes with accessories and bag to keep everything together. Very handy tool and surprisingly powerful.
This is a handyman’s dream. So far I’ve used it to repolish a pewter flask, drill some holes for reinforcing a furniture joint, and sanding down a long, rough edge when I didn’t have sandpaper in the house. If you appreciate getting stuck in and doing work yourself, you should definitely get one of these.
Excellent; need to get a tungsten bit though otherwise it constantly needs changing.
– One tip: GET THE DREMEL MULTICHUCK END PIECE. It’s like 8 and then you can fit any old rotary tool component on the end without faffing with screwdrivers. So cool. You can add drill bits, Busch burrs, polishing mops, the works.
– The motor is good, I’m happy with 5000 rpm mostly, going up towards 10000 for power sanding or drilling. Loses some torque when drilling or pressing hard with a sanding chuck
– Haven’t tried it with the flexshaft yet, because I don’t have a stand. I lie the tool sideways, holding it down with the chuck off the end of the bench and then move the silver against the tip, rather than trying to control the tool in mid-air as it’s a little unwieldy for me. You could also clamp it and do it that way.
Sorry to patronise, but just a safety note:
– WEAR EYE PROTECTION and a MASK – dust will fly. Drill bits may break. Metal in the eye is a life-changing injury.
– Metals being worked on will get HOT

This was a gift, purchased based on my own good experience of a Dremel I’ve had for years. Recipient very pleased with me and now agrees that it has plenty of uses around the house for things that. would have taken ages without i
Very fast delivery to the other side of the world!
As the Dremel was made in Mexico & the chuck in Slovakia it was very slow, using cutting oil to lubricate threads & very hard to tighten fully.
Obviously a variation in threads; otherwise excellent product & good value.
Really powerfull multitool, was not expecting that at all, the price is good on it, so it worths every penny. People who don’ t have a Dremel : Buy one ! 🙂
Everything seems to work, all the bits and bobs were in the box, but my only concern is the motor. I plugged it in to check if it actually works which it did, but immediately I noticed the revs of the motor seemed to be impeded i.e. it would run at the set speed then slow down on its own accord, then run again then slow down etc as if the spinning motor is latching onto something inside… not a good start.
Since buying it, it has been used non-stop and the person using it has no complaints but only praise for the tool. time will tell if that little issue grows into something bigger.
Can see however why people have given sour reviews, took a good while to figure out some aspects of the tool, even with instructions. and again.. do burn through those disks..
im enjoying playing with this tool with the respect ya should always give a rotary tool of course its good fun.
My Husband was delighted with this for his Birthday and reports its the best tool he’s ever used for model making.
Brilliant Kit. has pretty much everything I need I use this as a professional guitar builder and I use a dremel for many things involved in said trade.
I was really supriseed at the difference in quality from my previous dremel 300. The 4000 is a far superior machine. more powerful and much smoother.
The case and all the accessories make the platinum edition a really good value purchase.
You’ll find yourself looking for things to use it on! 😀
Certainly lives up to the hype, my only regret is that I didn’t invest in one sooner. One of the best tools I have ever bought.
I would recommend purchasing a ‘shield’ tool attachment, the clear plastic protects against the fragments of whatever is being drilled from hitting the eye, and with steel or rusty metal I use additional eye protection of VoltX ‘overspecs’ safety glasses (also an awesome product as the first overspecs that don’t steam up, and they are crystal clear so are great when working on detail work). I would also recommend purchasing Dremel accessories by kits rather than piece by piece as individual purchases are not good value…and I strongly recommend purchasing better quality accessories, not only do they last longer, they make the job/task you are doing much more enjoyable – cheaper items I have used simply disintegrate or wear out in seconds of use…just my experience..
As said, so glad I bought itand no doubt you will be too
Just the job, far better than all the other cheap junk. Dont go cordless they don’t last 5 minutes. The only gripe is the price of the bits but they are better than the cheap chinese crappy knockoffs. Go on get one you won’t be disappointed, I wasn’t.

I previously had a cheaper version of this. It did eventually die, but in the years I had it I ended up using it so many times for random unexpected things it easily earns its cost and when it broke I bought this better one. The principle use has been as a mini angle grinder to help with removing stuck screws, but it has also been invaluable for small jobs with routing & sanding.
There are undoubtably cheaper versions available, but given how often this saves you time and effort when things mess up it s ems money well spent.
I haven’t had this long so I can’t talk about its longetivity but I’m very happy with my purchase. The flexible shaft is the icing on the cake as it makes it so much easier to do intricate work.
Very happy with this tool and you will find many other uses you hadn’t thought of before!
It a great tool for many reasons you can use it as a mini lathe as I use it for, one thing I wasn’t happy about it was the packaging the box it self was broken when I got it that was a shame but I checked if all the part was there and everything.
If this dremel lasts as long and gives as much service as my last one I will be very happy. Worth spending the extra money.
I would never be without a Dremel now. Have owned a prior model for 10 years and used extensively in RC modelling and DIY. Finally wore it out and this one works really well as a replacement.
Have used it for cutting and engraving although had to buy more engraving bits for what I wanted to do. It comes with a good range of accessories although for a novice the instructions as to what each accessory does and how to attach them could be better hence only four stars. I would definitely recommend this over the cordless version as far more powerful.
Really good quality and useful Dremel that is ideal for small projects such as jewellery making or repairing items.
It comes with a basic set of attachments and a wider range would have been appreciated but they’re widely available individually or in sets.
The biggest drawback is that when using the extension chord for precise works the Dremel itself really needs to be on a stand or hung up to stop it moving about.
Fantastic tool this!!! One delighted son! I look forward to seeing end results of his new hobby – keeps him off his computer!!! Hurray! Would recommend this! Faultless delivery too.
So far it’s 100% good and works really good. I didn’t use all the tools, but mostly of them are usefull and easy to install and use.
Toole came without collets, which meant it was unusable as purchased. But excellent support by Dremel Company sorted out my problem and I am now happily enjoying my drill.
Bought this for work, as I work in a lab where I often have to cut samples to size for analysis and this does the job beautifully! Very happy.
Its fantastic I have used it under the car to cut a bolt off perfectly that a normal angle grinder would have caused damaged to other parts, my daughter has used it for her wood carving art, perfect tool
Used my new Dremel for the first time today. Pleased to have chosen a model with an extension as this enabled me to cut out some cracked grout from between tiles, without damaging the tiles.
I think this model lacks a diamond cutting blade for stone etc.
Early days to say much on reliability.
Very handy and powerful tool for the budding DIY enthusiast, or a professional. Did what I wanted it to. Instruction book is a bit basic, but you can get the gist of things. Handy for all sorts of little jobs.
This is the best dremel I’ve had. Second time around as the flexi thing snapped on the first one, the whole kit was replaced hassle free.
his Dremel multitool performed better than the european multitoll that I have it was adapted to cut jump rings for my hobby and was brilliant unlike the other tool that tended to seize up half way during the process so one up for the Dremel
Bought as a gift which was received well
Used for the first time today to sharpen tool worked well
Came in from workshop smiling what more could you ask fo
Fantastic tool. Was a great help with building my Astromech droid. The bits do wear out quick, but that’s to be expected I guess for small bits. Best tool I have purchased in years.
owned 2 previously in the states and had to buy this one because of the voltage difference. What can you say….. a good quality product and the case is nice and can be useful for other things.
I’ve always wanted one of these, and owning it has been a revelation. Surprising how many jobs I can do with it, and the flexible extension is great for hard-to-reach or fine detail work where you need a bit more control.
This is the second Dremel I have purchased and they are a very good product. Unfortunately I used my first Dremel for doing more than they are designed for, which is my own fault. I am very pleased with this replacement.
Very handy and quite precise however I did not expect to be able to stop the rotation by hand at low revs. The variable speed is very useful
Fantastic piece of equipment, easy to use, well balanced and fits in the hand with ease. Good variation in speed to tackle all sorts of jobs. Enough tools and fitments to get you started on most jobs. Worth buying a full set of accessories which would cover every eventuality. Arrived within the time stated well packed.
Bought as a present for a jewellery maker…..they`d previously had a draper which had broken, so wanted an upgrade that could be used with all the universal rotary accessories/attachments that they already had. The tool itself seems fine, but there`s no indication when buying that the collet supplied with it doesn`t fit all the different universal rotary tool attachments you can get (although it does fit the ones included in this set), so a week on I`m now purchasing the quick-change multi chuck to make it fully functional- wouldn`t mind, but if I`d known when I purchased the rotary tool kit I could`ve got free delivery on it, so have bought elsewhere!
I am so in love with this tool, I shall never turn back. I have years of experimenting with her, but so far, I have sanded down my wing mirrors on my disability scooter and I am in the process of turning a Cake Table into a 4 Poster bed for a dog !
If you have small hands like I do and want to do detailed work. I would recommend this PUPPY!
First one I got was getting hot all time and flex used to come of . Told them a bout it . Gave me a replacement straight away .got it to day tried it with flex . Runs like a dream . A1 to dremel they can have my cash all day long.
I bought this Dremel to replace a previously possessed one that had conked out. The 4000 in the canvas bag is good value and more practical than the old hard case. Working well so far.
Was sceptical of how well this piece of kit would work, as I bought it to deal with rusted nuts on a car rebuild that I am working on.
However, I have to say that the metal cutting discs are very effective at cutting through metal and wear very well. There is a wide range of tools that I have not yet got round to using, but in terms of product quality and ease of use I can highly recommend this piece of ki
Excellent versatile quality multi tool kit which I bought about three weeks ago for a specific model engineering task. The Dremel 4000, with its extensive speed range, has proved to be a very capable tool and the flexible extension shaft has enabled me to work comfortably and accurately in confined areas and to complete the task in hand with no difficulties.
The extensive range of attachments and accessories that are available for this tool and its versatility will mean that it will be used very extensively for many other tasks in the future.
My first Dremel lasted 15 years of regular diy use.
Stupidly, to save money, this time I went for a cheaper brand. I had to send two back for bad build quality and got a refund…With Dremel you really do get what you pay for and it was worth paying the extra for a superior product.
You’ve only got to feel the device in use to appreciate the difference that the high power/speed motor makes, and the quality of the tool in hand to understand it.
My only gripe is the presentation case as it is not “stackable” with all my other tools, but that aside, I’m absolutely delighted with the 4000.
A few years ago I bought a similar item from a well known very large DIY store, used it for a small job and it went on the shelf. I took it out of the box last week to use it again and after a few minutes it went bang, took out all of the house electrics. Diagnosis, its had its last revolution as the motor has burned out.
So I bought the Dremel 4000 as a replacement.. wow what a difference, it feels much more solid, the motor is much more powerful and its simple to use.
As others say the instructions are a bit lacking but with a bit of knowledge its not difficult to work out what does what.
The variation in speed is good and I like the chuck locking system.
A very handy tool for small jobs, ideal for the hobbyist.
Great product, usefull for so many tasks. Especially glad it came with a flexible extension tool for engraving.
Only thing I wasn’t expecting was how loud this is.
When grinding off some steel bolts that had rusted on in a hard to reach location where no other tool could reach. The ear defenders i use with the chain saw weren’t adequate.
This has paid for itself already IMO. So useful and has made metal cutting/grinding so much easier. Using it all the time for all kinds of jobs – well pleased with it. Probably the best tool I’ve ever bought and has made restoration of my Lambretta so much easier along with household DIY tasks.
Could have done with a bit more information on what can be done with the various bits, though. In particular, I would like to know what they are NOT suitable for, as I will be experimenting, and no doubt ruining some this way.
Well made tool, looked at other similar items on the market but think this is probably the best. On the down-side the on/off switch got very stiff to operate when using it in dusty situations, however a drop of wd40 sorted it. The price of individual Dremel bits etc are a bit expensive, otherwise I am happy with the purchase.
I can see myself using this Dremel for lots more than just wood carving – it will be useful for all sorts of small-scale DIY jobs, although it won’t replace the standard-sized power tools, obviously.
There are a couple of little downsides: it’s pretty noisy, produces a lot of very fine wood dust, and because it vibrates quite strongly, using it for long periods of time can be uncomfortable, and leaves me with pins and needles for a day or so. Occasional use is no problem though. Also, I do wish there was an on/off switch on the flexi shaft because if you need to turn the tool off quickly (for example when a bit works loose in the multi-chuck, which happens occasionally, no matter how tight you make it) then you have to fumble for the switch on the tool itself, by which time the bit has usually shot across the room like a bullet – a bit unsafe really, although this might not happen if you don’t go for the multi-chuck option.
All in all, a great tool, despite these small niggles, and I’d definitely recommend it!
It’s made of aluminium and plastic, with 30mm thick internal fitted foam.
The 8 corners of the case contain chrome brackets that are riveted in place, and the edges have aluminium right-angle extrusions which are also riveted.
Not only does it look fantastic, it feels very solid without being too heavy or cumbersome.
The end result is a very attractive, functional and rugged tool case.
The case contains only one draw, which holds the right-angle attachment, the Shaping Platform, the Line and Circle Cutting Attachment as well as 2 empty plastic accessory storage cases.
The draw locks into place when the top lid is closed, so it can’t slide open while being carried.
It can also be removed completely from the case by pushing a plastic tab on the hinge on each side of the drawer (one side has to be pushed up, the other side pushed down).
The draw hinges are quality full length extension hinges (38mm wide) with ball bearings, so the action is solid and smooth.
What I would have really loved is another drawer, or more cut-outs in the foam for other attachments as the case could hold a LOT more.
But the top compartment does have storage room, so you could throw a few attachments in there.
The case measurements are:
435 mm (L) x 210 mm (H) x 220 mm (D).
The top compartment holds the Dremel 4000, the Flex-Shaft Attachment, the Detailer’s Grip and the Universal Cutting Attachment (AKA Multi Purpose Cutting Attachment 566).
The kit is reasonably good value as you get 6 attachments and 128 accessories, which add up to be a fair bit.
However, the attachments are at the cheaper end of the range and although 128 accessories sounds like a lot, and it is, it’s made up of a lot of the cheaper sanding bands/discs.
The tool and the attachments are standard, the only thing that’s different in this kit is the case.
So, there really isn’t a need to review each attachment or the tool itself, numerous individual Amazon reviews are available.
Except for one thing, it used to be the brushes on the Dremel 4000 could be accessed by simply unscrewing the two silver brush caps on each side with a slotted screwdriver.
However, with the model I received there are no removable motor brush caps, as the brush caps aren’t visible or accessible and are covered in the soft grip rubber body coating.
All you can see is the outline of them, so to change the brushes you would have to unscrew the entire housing cover.
It’s not because this is a Limited Edition, as some of the “regular” versions also are the same as mine.
Check out some videos or pictures and you’ll see both types.
So one is either an upgraded version, or for some reason it differs geographically.
I’m in the process of contacting Dremel to find out, and if I do I will update this post.
One other thing is that although the ad states you get a Dremel poster, I never received one.
In summing up, although this is one of the most expensive Dremel 4000 kits available (it’s the 2nd best kit ever released by Dremel), it’s fairly comprehensive and the case is absolutely awesome.
If you were going to buy a heap of attachments eventually, this is the kit to buy.
Oh, and did I mention how great the case was?
G’Day from Australia.
With so many to choose from I was not too sure which to go for. The 4000 has proved to be well up to any job I have given it so far. So, a good choice for the money.
