Felt great in the hand and accessories looked and felt quality. When starting it off I was shocked by the terrible noise and had worries it was a dead one. It took a number of starts and continuous use for the noise to go. Tried using a number of tools it runs straight but rough on slow speed. Changed to this from the run of the mill cheaper one. Don’t feel the price difference to be honest, better but not fantastic. Should have tried the ones between cheap and expensive.

I am ‘over the moon’ with this product. It’s of course a quality item, very versatile with all of the attachments and accessories. It has limitless uses and to be truthful I don’t know how I have managed to live without it all these years. I said the same when we got broadband all those years ago!!

A wide range of included bits and attachments that will likely take me years to experience. The flexible shaft is super useful. I hang the Drexel up above the workbench then use the flex shaft to work on smaller more detailed jobs. The unit itself, with the super fast 30000 setting is more capable than its small size might indicate. Being cabled rather than cordless it is quite light to handle and also comes with different grips for additional control.

Just the best thing ever. Does everything I want. Not too heavy and easy to use. I’ve used it for cutting floorboards, drilling small pieces of wood (with optional workstation) and engraving amongst others.

I haven’t had a chance to use all the accessories but the ones I have used work really well, the main unit is very well built and quite sturdy, as with any small multi tools they do have limits and care should be taken when working on larger projects but if you take it easy until you learn what it can and can’t do this Dremel 4000 will get you the results you’re after.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersRight seeing as it was 109 I was expecting the dogs, and to all intents and purposes IT IS, but FORGET the instructions they are worse than uselesss, I could not even work out how attach a routing tool. After going through it with a microscope (the instructions ) I gave up on them and went to you tube on the net. If you put the name of it in and how do I use my Dremmel, there is a 14 minute video by some guy up north, who is meticullous in his explanation and after 10 minutes I had not only attached a tool bit, the are no spanners, its built in to the collar bit, but they dont mention the lock bit.He runs you through all the attatchments speeds, and how some pieces are not what you thought they were. So you may as well chuck the instruction manual and watch a video and it will be explained in graphic detail and you will be able to start using it. Other than that its great.

So many times have i struggled to get into tight areas in order to cut off bolt heads or siezed brackets, down by the side of the engine where it is so tight or exhaust clamps hopelessly rusted in place requiring for the complete system removal, not any more the ‘Dremel’ is sufficiently small enough for those tight places yet powerful enough to cope with the worst of rusted nuts and brackets, speeds jobs up and puts an end to skinned knuckles.

I got the hand tightened chuck separately. Saved a lot time messing around with the small spanner.

I previously owned a cheap knock off that lasted a couple of use and made a strange smell right out of the box. Really useless. This genuine Dremel is in a league of its own.
Very well balanced and just the right weight for fine work. Nice and stable. Outstanding build quality as you would expect. Useful carry case to keep everything organised with some good starter tool bits.
I’ve used the tool regularly for various polishing, grinding and cutting jobs. It has the power to do quite tough jobs. like cut and grind metal, with ease. Just be prepared to work up to (but not above) the maximum rpm for the tool bit as there is a marked increase in power available as you ramp up the rpm.

No regrets for opting for the no-nonsense always available mains version – ideal for my needs in the home and garage.

This model seems to be brushless as well as the access screws for replacing the brushes are blanks with no slots. (Going to double check this with Dremel.)

Its a Dremmel, has a good amount of attachments (depending what version you buy)

However… When using the grinding stone – don’t push against – it kills them… that’s why I bought this one, I killed my last one. I was trying to put a hole in a tool, so using the grinding stone, I was pushing against the tool, it was working its way through – but then just died… it had melted the internals .

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have been using a Dremel 800 cordless for several years. The 800 continues to give great service for most jobs, but struggles a bit with heavy jobs such as routing for which I decided to buy the 4000. Reading other reviews, it looks like to price has doubled in a year or so.
The 4000 has plenty of power for routing. So far it has performed very reliably and the tools that came with it that I did not already own have proved very useful.
I have given “only” 4 stars because it feels like the price is now relatively high. I also want to know if it has any problems that I have not yet experienced. If it works as reliably as my old Dremel 800 I will update it to 5 stars.

Brilliant little drill set. I have already stripped several vintage oil lamps with this and works a treat. Very low vibration levels even at high speed. Super sturdy and comes with a nice carry bag which is big enough to include all your other bits and bobs. If it doesn’t break within the next few months of heavy usage, then this is a very good product. I would recommend.

I’ve seen some reviews of people complaining about the bits not fitting in the chuck. The chuck is fully tightened when you unpack it. You need to loosen it by holding the lock button, then the bits will fit…

But otherwise it is a great package and has everything you need. The Dremel cutting discs are far superior to any other rotary tool system I have used. The quick lock and release system is great.

My late pal, a remarkable man who died in 2004, always boasted that he had a Dremel and I didn’t. Well now I have. Got this kit on an Amazon offer at a terrific price and it’s lived up to its reputation. Dremel’s only competitor that I know of is the German company Proxxon, which I recommend you browse as well.

Be aware that these drills can reach rotational speeds that are sufficient to destroy tool bits if misused. I wasn’t: see photo 🙁

    It's a Dremel: what's not to like?

For this amount of money you would expect perfect product but unfortunately when you set lower speeds the regulator doesn’t work as expected. The speed is not steady and you can feel strange vibrations.

I have used the cutting disks for cutting metal pipe and plastic guttering and have really enjoys using the carving bits to engrave. I have really enjoyed using the new things I am able to do with it.

The plunge router attachment I bought separately for 20 is a bargain meaning that I also have a router.

Amazed by the diversity of this tool.

    Pros:
    – adjustable speed
    – wide range of applications
    – great quality tool and well built
    – surprisingly easy and comfortable to hold even when engraving with I was pleasantly surprised about

    Cons:

Golden Review Award: 377 From Our UsersI bought this kit to replace an old rotary tool that had finally handed in the towel after years of occasional use. Dremel have a very good reputation and I decided to move up market a little and see whether that reputation was deserved. After a lot of research I decided to go for the 4/65 set. I decided to buy a corded Dremel because I could see me running out of battery mid task on some of the jobs I have planned for it.

If you are wondering what the 4/65 is referring to, there are 4 attachments included in the set and 65 accessories. These are all stored inside a hard plastic case and this set also includes a removable tool holder with a cord wrap that can be hung on the wall for neat storage.

On opening the hard plastic case I found everything neatly placed inside and it was obvious that a lot of thought had gone into designing it. I checked all of the contents and everything was there. There are a lot of accessories and they cover a lot of useful applications. Sanding, grinding, cutting, shaping, sharpening, carving and polishing. There is a small block of polishing compound and also included in the set is the EZ SpeedClic Starter Set. In my opinion this should be included in the attachment list as it is so useful. It is a quick fit mandrel with two metal cutting disks. I show it in the attached video.

    The attachments are:
Flex Shaft — this is a must have for the Dremel if you are planning to do a lot of work. It is much easier to use than the Dremel itself and makes fiddly jobs much easier to handle.
Line and Circle Cutter — you can cut out neat circles in wood with this attachment which is basically a small trammel bar, great for making coasters or anything that requires a small accurate disk. It can also be used to cut straight lines along the edge of a straight piece of wood.
Shaping Platform — for sanding wood at 90 degrees or chamfering at 45 degrees as well as other uses.
Detailer’s Grip — a small handle designed to make delicate and accurate work easier by improving the way the tool is held in the hand. Used for engraving, power carving and etching.

In use the Dremel is very smooth and feels like a quality tool. It has a variable speed from 5000 to 35000 rpm. It has a comfortable feel to it and changing the accessories is easy. I have used mine a fair bit since I purchased it. Some of the video is taken from one project I just completed involving metal work. I have used it for carving a little lizard and it was a real pleasure with the flex shaft and sanding drums. I have a lot of sanding drums and mandrels that are not made by Dremel, they are way cheaper and you may wish to look for options when replacing accessories as Dremel are so expensive. On the other hand the Dremel attachments are well made and I think they are also good value for money.

I purchased the set with the wall mount because it was actually cheaper than the set without due to an offer at the time. Personally, I think the wall mount is fiddly to place the tool in to and take it out of and will not be using it. It does however make placing everything into the hard plastic case much easier and keeps it neat and tidy. Just something to think about. Also in my opinion, the only attachment you really need to buy is the Flex Shaft, so you should consider whether to go for a smaller set depending on what you want to use it for. I am happy with this set and do not regret buying it. It is a great starter set and is capable of so many different tasks straight out of the box. There is also the reassurance of buying a Dremel Rotary Tool!

A great starter set, enough equipment to cover most tasks. Dremel quality, peace of mind!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI ordered this when I was interested in wood carving in a safer way (I got some very deep cuts using knives and manual carving tools), as well as try stone and bone carving in future and after reading reviews found out this was the best one on the market.
It was definitely worth the money and really happy I didn’t skimp out. I especially like the extension as having small, weak hands and carpal tunnel trying to wield the main unit would be difficult, so to have something you can use like a pencil is so much easier and with more control you can get more detail. It is also far quieter than I expected with the lower speeds being quiet enough that I can use it at night without the neighbors being able to hear it!

I’m sure I will have many uses for this dremel outside of just carving and with so many accessories available it has the potential to do a massive amount of tasks.

A full kit to get started with the Dremel. Have used for the past year as I have been repairing my boat. I have a rechargeable copy from Lidl, which is okay, but nothing compared with this Dremel for getting the job done.

Using the cutting disks (without breaking them) takes a bit of getting used to. More spares ordered!

Great piece of kit and at a great price. I have been looking for an affordable option for my jewellery bench work. The micro motors were too pricey for me, so finding this Dremel has been a bliss.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is great.
The tool; I like to think I can do everything with it – I cant other than make lots of sawdust :). There are so many parts you can pop-on to do other jobs that you buy. It is a very decent tool for the everyday hobby / DIY folks like me. I do think that if you are a professional joiner for example a dedicated tool for a repeat task would suit you better (rebate joints for example).

Box is good, it keeps everything together which is handy in a small one bedroom flat. The drawers on mine are a bit sticky after my niece pushed the box of the table and jumped on it, everything in the box still works great. So it took its hits and kept rocking.

    Very happy with this.

I cannot praise this Dremel kit enough, sure it costs a bit more than the numerous budget kits out there, but when you buy Dremel, you buy quality!! I mess about making models, and model railways, and this kit is a must have, so get the little chuck and the vertical holder for routing holes and slots and you can’t go far wrong. My next purchase will be the drill stand, which also doubles up as a tool holder.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersExcellent bit of kit form a brand leader, have only used it a few times and have successfully managed to sort out some pretty low quality diamond tip bits (not dremel) as a result will only buy quality tools for the unit.

Only hang up is the fiddly nature of fitting any of the attachments, but once fitted work well. I like to the quality tool box as well 🙂

Excellent presentation box that holds everything in very neatly.
The Dremel is like most pretty useful if you can find a use for it! sharpening blades, cutting screws, engraving… and most of these things are included in this kit.. including a holder and extending cable.

but be careful when using, there is no cover around the business end, so do wear appropriate protection, it cuts hard stuff and will easily have a go at fingers or eyes!

Good tool for the price. Collets are fiddly to change and one was hidden on the end of the flexishaft.
Spend the extra 4.99 and get the keyless chuck.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSturdy enough and full of goodies.

    Delivered brilliantly quick.

The dremel itself is brilliant, the tool works brilliantly and if used right will last you for ages.
The cutter set is excellent and works brilliantly as does the polishing tools.

Over all excellent and worth the purchase.

Have as much fun as i am

    Its a brilliant item

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersSo glad I bought the Dremel…it has proved useful on many occasions, and each time a joy to use. It is a solid, well built and definite must have’ tool.
I would recommend purchasing a ‘shield’ tool attachment, the clear plastic protects against the fragments of whatever is being drilled from hitting the eye, and with steel or rusty metal I use additional eye protection of VoltX ‘overspecs’ safety glasses (also an awesome product as the first overspecs that don’t steam up, and they are crystal clear so are great when working on detail work). I would also recommend purchasing Dremel accessories by kits rather than piece by piece as individual purchases are not good value…and I strongly recommend purchasing better quality accessories, not only do they last longer, they make the job/task you are doing much more enjoyable – cheaper items I have used simply disintegrate or wear out in seconds of use…just my experience..
As said, so glad I bought itand no doubt you will be too

I’ve only used a limited few bits so far, but I think this is going to be one of those tools that gets gradually more and more use, everything I’ve used it for so far has been made so easy compared to how I used to go about it. Can’t wait to use it again, I just keep coming up with reasons to put it to work.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our Usersbeen looking to get one of these for a long time and finally the jobs stacked up so bit the bullet. Decided on the slightly more powerful one as I knew it would get a bashing and so far has worked great. The included accessories are very useful as well. Having bought some third party cutting blades which were not that good, I would suggest getting Dremel’s own or at least better quality cutting accessories as with any tool it’s only going to be as good as the bits you use in it.

Very happy with this tool and you will find many other uses you hadn’t thought of before!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a fantastic set which comes with pretty much everything that you would need to do various in and around the home and more. The wide range of various tool bits are easy to change and come in a neat box to keep them tidy and safe. Each bit can easily be replaced and if you haven’t got something to do a particular job, there is most probably an accessory to allow you to do it. This is a perfect kit for an avid maker or crafter. Overall I would recommend.

Pretty good kit in a sturdy plastic storage box.
I would have expected to find the more modern conventional Dremel ‘no tools’ chuck in the case, buy one for 5 to avoid silly little spanners.
The accessories are just chucked loosely and untidily in a small box. Even my cheap ancient BandQit one had a storage box with mount holes to keep it tidy and accessible.
Major failing for this price of ‘premium’ kit.

I like the remote cable, this may help a few micro projects, although the instructions insist you hang it from a drip stand like stucture, it does come with a horizontal drill body holder in blue.
Not a word about this holder in the grey ink picture instructions – I hate pictograph instructions BTW.
I assume you can use the drill in it or it would be pointless.

The accessories are only mentioned in a 1cm square pictogram, poorly drawn, so I think I can identify what they are, maybe.

On test the drill sounds smooth at higher speeds and very ‘grundly’ at the lowest speed – I hope this is normal, never heard a tool make that noise except when knackered.

I have some micro jobs coming up, lets hope this can match my ancient older DIY store one – which last week drilled a tiny rounded screwdriver out of a Honda key for a battery change without grief.

I never knew how much I could do with this tool especially intricate work. A great detail tool as well for model building like Airfix and Warhammer. I don’t know why I didn’t get one years ago. This comes with loads of accessories.

Great and useful piece of kit, bit of a shame that it doesn’t come with some bigger carbide pieces but they can be picked up else where. Flexi cable is brilliant and great for that finer work. Unfortunately early on my tool became occasionally intermittent and wouldn’t turn on straight away.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this to assist in Jewellery making having first borrowed the rechargeable 8200 version from a friend to see if it was the type of thing I required. I went for this corded version in this package as it is supplied with the flexible shaft and the shaping platform. As you would expect the unit seems well built and the design well thought out, it has a great range of speed and is perfectly suited to shaping, sanding and polishing both silver and copper Jewellery. A lot of people advise changing the standard 3mm collet for the chuck but all the mounted tools I have used are 3mm anyway so changing couldn’t be easier left as it is. The only thing im not so sure about is the blue plastic holster that made this set about 5 more than the other set in the grey case, I thought it would hold the Dremel rigid on the bench so I could hold the work piece in two hands, but it does not, I guess it is just designed as a tidy to be screwed to the wall or for when using the flexi-shaft, although I have not tried it in the holster with the flexi-shaft as yet. The only advantage the cordless 8200 version had was it was quite useful to take it outside when the fluff flies off the polishing mop, but the assurance that the battery is not going to suddenly die in the middle of the job makes the 4000 the right choice for me.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy previous rotary tool was a Woolworths one, so I guess I can’t grumble about how long it lasted, but when it exploded in my hand I was glad I was wearing my work gloves. I decided to get the real thing and chose this because it has a good range of accessories with it, the flexible shaft which gives it a whole new range of possibilities, and a soft case which some have criticised, but as someone who travels around with hard plastic tool boxes and metal equipment in the back of the van, having a few things in soft cases helps with packing so that you don’t have so many hard items banging against each other making a noise and damaging them. I use old sheets to pad things but I don’t need to worry with this.
