Get instruction!
From looking around, it’s good value. Only used last night and due to impatience, plus lack of clear instructions I ended up with a broken ‘bit’, and a sore bleeding nose. Good thing I wore safety glasses! Have to watch more YouTube.
Good Versatility, good value for money, lots of attachments
I bought this as I can no longer get spare parts for my black and decker wizard. While this isn’t as powerful as the Wizard, the range of attachments, and versatility makes it almost as good. I will be getting the drill press for this, and love the container it comes in.

Be aware of Amazon warehouse purchases
I bought this as a replacement for my old Dremel 3000, this is the usual Dremmel high quality and well presented.
My only criticism and it is more of Amazon than Dremel is that I ordered a discounted version from Amazon Warehouse advertised as some damaging to packaging but otherwise perfect. No where on the advert did it say the warehouse version is fitted with a European 2 pin plug and not a UK 3 pin plug.
It’s not a big enough issue for me to want to return it but I would have probably paid for a full price model if I’d have known at the time.
Quality Product.
Product as described, did not include light which I would have preferred. Delivery excellent.
A useful bit of kit in a neat box of its own.
I brought this to refurbish grouting between bathroom tiles. The bathroom has underfloor heating so great precision was required. With the diamond disk I managed to cut out all of the grouting without damaging the tiles. It paid for itself on this task along and it can now be used for a wide range of other tasks.

If you are creative then it is a tools to have around
There is so much you can do with a Dremel handy Little tool to have because you never know when you are going to use it,it is good to engraving yr name for personal items
It's easy to use.
I used this Dremel for model making and it is excellent.
Niceeee
Luv it plus comes in a nice carry case does wht it say on the box ive used it quite alot which has surprised me
Excellent buy
This is very sturdy and versatile. Just the job for crafting etc.
Decent model
Great although mine has started to cut out after just 4 months
Best bit of kit I’ve bought in a while! 🙃
Absolutely fantastic piece of kit, I waited for prime day deals and got this at a brilliant price, I won’t say how much because I don’t want peeps to lol
Is it worth buying at the full price, most definitely, the tool box on its own is very nice and it’s very well built and with all the accessories, bits & bobs etc. Bargain!
Definitely worth getting one for all the jobs around the house or buy it for your workshop etc.
The 4000 has great control when using it and there just so much you can do using this little baby!
Only really wanted the Rotary tool but when I saw this package I couldn’t resist. The tool box is as good as tool boxes get. Had noticed a number of reviews complaining they couldn’t fit anything in the drawers other than the supplied tools. I just took the foam out and I fitted in all of my model making stuff with ease. I live in a flat so have no workshop but now I have everything in one place so making stuff is very much easier. The rotary tool itself is spot on and the accessories are useful. Plenty of different bits too along with a good selection of expendables. Price wise it was luxury end and a bit steep but as a package it was just what I needed so I can live with that.
Dremel rotary tool.
This Dremel is a great piece of kit. I am just starting to learn power carving wood. I thought this tool would be a good place to start and am not disappointed. I know you can buy more powerful tools, which are much more expensive, but as a starter I think this tool fits the bill. Of course it is also useful for many other tasks.

Quality and easy to use
Brilliant multi tool that you only use for half of its capability!!
I used this to cut and shape small fibreglass holes on a console. Perfect for this and drilling quick holes for screws. The flexibility of the attachment tool is tremendously useful
Many other attachments I haven’t used yet, but can see this in the future.

Awesome power to literally just mess about with!
Literally had no reason to buy this, always want d one and pretended to the wife she was going to benefit as I was going to do all sorts of D.I.Y jobs for her….sadly so far all I’ve achieved is to cut a deep hole in her new table by total accident. Oh and I tried to use it for a really quick way to get grout out from between the bathroom tiles….on reflection though I should also have brought eye protection and a breathing mask.

What do you want to do?
A great quality product with versatility, capability and very functional. It can complete a wide range of tasks, including cutting, grinding, polishing etc. The accessories and included equipment make this a very useful tool – the limitation is your imagination!
I’ve found my previous Dremel tools to be good quality, and this one seems to be the same. The tasks I’ve used it for so far make me think that for the jobs these type of tools are designed for the Dremel will certainly help you to get the job done!

I’d been after a Dremmel multi-tool for ages, and this package popped up on a deal and my first impressions are positive and I’ve already used it for a mini project which has saved me quite a bit of time.
PROS
– Excellent case external finish (see below)
– Excellent selection of accessories (128 in total)
– Good control offered by the 4000, not sacrificing power
CONS
– Instructions could be clearer
– Case leaves no room for adding new purchases, pre-cut ‘pick and pluck’ foam would encourage owners to add to their collection of accessories
– No mention that top lid need to be open before you open the drawer (it has a security locking feature)
– Adding accessories can be expensive
So overall very happy, but I will revert back and update this review when I’ve had an opportunity to play around with the Dremmel 4000 a bit more.
One of the best things I’ve ever purchased. I’ve started messing around with crafts and love this for engraving wood. It also comes in handy now and then for DIY. I would say it’s more craft than DIY but it has its uses. One is with the metal cutter wheel that makes cutting of sticking out screws and nails very easy. Also cutting intricate bits in UPVC or wood.
My only criticism is that some of the Dremel accessories aren’t brilliant and are a bit pricey. I tend to look out for the Silverline brand tools as they are good value. One accessory from Dremel I would say is a must is the Dremel 4486 Chuck. If you do buy a Dremel get this as it makes fitting drill bits, cutters etc much easier and quicker.
I have thought about getting a rotary multi tool for years and finally gave in. I have not been disappointed! I have used the cutting disks for cutting metal pipe and plastic guttering and have really enjoys using the carving bits to engrave. I have really enjoyed using the new things I am able to do with it.
The plunge router attachment I bought separately for 20 is a bargain meaning that I also have a router.
Amazed by the diversity of this tool.
Pros:
– adjustable speed
– wide range of applications
– great quality tool and well built
– surprisingly easy and comfortable to hold even when engraving with I was pleasantly surprised about
Cons:
– quite expensive compared to similar products on the market
– no carbon brush replacement (unless I am mistaken)
Overall if you love DIY, don’t wait years uuuming and ahhhing like I did, just buy one. You won’t be disappointed.
Dremel 4000
I had the smaller version which didn’t last long, (the stop/start button failed), but this model is far better. Would recommend you buy the large box of accessories if you want to use very small drills ie 1.5mm as it contains different size chucks.

Good buy
Bought it as a gift, seemed to go over well
Great bundled package
Everything you need to get started wood carving for a great price.
Its a Dremel, whats more to say?
You can get cheaper alternatives, but with a Dremel, you are buying quality and reliability. Thtas exactly what you get with this.
Great tool, handy for so many different things.
Problem is, once you get one, you then want to start spending a fortune on all the different accessories available for it.
Fully recommend.

Fantastic tool
I love my Dremel. It is amazing how many things you find it is useful for. Once you have one of these you wonder how you managed without it. It makes so many jobs easy that would otherwise be difficult or not done properly. There are a multitude of different bits and fittings available to cover almost anything you might want to do. The variable speed is also so much better than the old fixed speed version I used to have. It would be even better if the case had more space avalaible for storing the extra bits and pieces that you will inevitably buy as there is no spare space because it is all taken up with the supplied accessories. Adding a second drawer to the case would make this absolutely brilliant.
I bought this unit after purchasing a cheap chinese knock off and the difference is vast. Build quality alone is blatantly obvious. The case is very good and IMO better than the hard plastic case. One thing I would say though is that I would have liked more warning about using the flex drive because if you leave it curled up it will work perfectly but it will heat up very quickly, so be careful. I would also like to see a maintenance guide sent with the kit especially more warning about the flex drive however you will not be disappointed this is a real quality piece of kit.
Does the job
Purchased as a present. Recipient was very happy with the product
Prompt delivery
usefull hand tool
Good for the hobby/model maker – bit fiddly getting set up especialy with the extention snake.
Quality produc
Like this Dremel I’ve had cheap tools like this before and fell to bits in no time, the Dremel is excellent quality and feels like it will last I’ve used it for glass engraving so far so good.Would recommend spending the extra for a good quality tool
Wow the Dremels changed
he new dremel kit with the extension drive cable is such an improvement really love it. I use it on my scroll and Intarsia work see it on deadtreescrolls.co.uk
Top tool for multiple tasks
I purchased two of these. One for my son and one for my partner. Both of them are enjoying the tool, using different parts and creating all sorts of things. They are very happy with the product and are looking to buy more parts for it. They are even building equipment to assist them in using the tool. Looking online for ideas to assist the tool and for other uses of it, etc. They both think the Dremel is a great tool to have and couldn’t wait to receive them. There’s no stopping them now.
Cool but Flex shaft causes some issues
The Dremel itself is quite good, however when the flex shaft is attached the speed can vary due to friction inside the shaft. This can be quite annoying if your sanding something.
Also note that the shaft gets hot, the tighter the turn the worst it gets.
Excelle
Bought this as an uprgrade from my battery dremel. Excellent product which runs constantly (unlike battery) which no matter how good the battery still needs to be re charged.
I bought this kit to replace an old rotary tool that had finally handed in the towel after years of occasional use. Dremel have a very good reputation and I decided to move up market a little and see whether that reputation was deserved. After a lot of research I decided to go for the 4/65 set. I decided to buy a corded Dremel because I could see me running out of battery mid task on some of the jobs I have planned for it.
If you are wondering what the 4/65 is referring to, there are 4 attachments included in the set and 65 accessories. These are all stored inside a hard plastic case and this set also includes a removable tool holder with a cord wrap that can be hung on the wall for neat storage.
On opening the hard plastic case I found everything neatly placed inside and it was obvious that a lot of thought had gone into designing it. I checked all of the contents and everything was there. There are a lot of accessories and they cover a lot of useful applications. Sanding, grinding, cutting, shaping, sharpening, carving and polishing. There is a small block of polishing compound and also included in the set is the EZ SpeedClic Starter Set. In my opinion this should be included in the attachment list as it is so useful. It is a quick fit mandrel with two metal cutting disks. I show it in the attached video.
The attachments are:
Flex Shaft — this is a must have for the Dremel if you are planning to do a lot of work. It is much easier to use than the Dremel itself and makes fiddly jobs much easier to handle.
Line and Circle Cutter — you can cut out neat circles in wood with this attachment which is basically a small trammel bar, great for making coasters or anything that requires a small accurate disk. It can also be used to cut straight lines along the edge of a straight piece of wood.
Shaping Platform — for sanding wood at 90 degrees or chamfering at 45 degrees as well as other uses.
Detailer’s Grip — a small handle designed to make delicate and accurate work easier by improving the way the tool is held in the hand. Used for engraving, power carving and etching.
In use the Dremel is very smooth and feels like a quality tool. It has a variable speed from 5000 to 35000 rpm. It has a comfortable feel to it and changing the accessories is easy. I have used mine a fair bit since I purchased it. Some of the video is taken from one project I just completed involving metal work. I have used it for carving a little lizard and it was a real pleasure with the flex shaft and sanding drums. I have a lot of sanding drums and mandrels that are not made by Dremel, they are way cheaper and you may wish to look for options when replacing accessories as Dremel are so expensive. On the other hand the Dremel attachments are well made and I think they are also good value for money.
I purchased the set with the wall mount because it was actually cheaper than the set without due to an offer at the time. Personally, I think the wall mount is fiddly to place the tool in to and take it out of and will not be using it. It does however make placing everything into the hard plastic case much easier and keeps it neat and tidy. Just something to think about. Also in my opinion, the only attachment you really need to buy is the Flex Shaft, so you should consider whether to go for a smaller set depending on what you want to use it for. I am happy with this set and do not regret buying it. It is a great starter set and is capable of so many different tasks straight out of the box. There is also the reassurance of buying a Dremel Rotary Tool!
it's like a Swiss army knife
very useful for when you need a tool but not a large one (stop snickering at the back). Fun aside, I have used it for a number of DIY projects and it is one of the items that you just get into the habbit of making it your first point of call when its DIY time

Bought this as a gift for my husband. He loves it and uses it a lot. After 6 months it’s still working without any faults.
has come in really useful.

Arrived fast. Good kit. Use it more than I thought I would.
I ordered this when I was interested in wood carving in a safer way (I got some very deep cuts using knives and manual carving tools), as well as try stone and bone carving in future and after reading reviews found out this was the best one on the market.
It was definitely worth the money and really happy I didn’t skimp out. I especially like the extension as having small, weak hands and carpal tunnel trying to wield the main unit would be difficult, so to have something you can use like a pencil is so much easier and with more control you can get more detail. It is also far quieter than I expected with the lower speeds being quiet enough that I can use it at night without the neighbors being able to hear it!
I’m sure I will have many uses for this dremel outside of just carving and with so many accessories available it has the potential to do a massive amount of tasks.
Boat repai
A full kit to get started with the Dremel. Have used for the past year as I have been repairing my boat. I have a rechargeable copy from Lidl, which is okay, but nothing compared with this Dremel for getting the job done.
Using the cutting disks (without breaking them) takes a bit of getting used to. More spares ordered!

my best new toy, much better than the cheaper versions i’v had before.
I am very happy
I have used this for repairs, diy and craft work, it has more than fulfilled my expectations.
Useful for jewellery bench work
Great piece of kit and at a great price. I have been looking for an affordable option for my jewellery bench work. The micro motors were too pricey for me, so finding this Dremel has been a bliss.
I wanted dremel for awhile and when I saw this had a case I thought let’s give it a go,I’m so glad I did because the case is so handy and neat , the dremel itself is very powerful handheld device, go on treat yourself you be very happy I’m sure

Excellent but the body feels a little cheap for the price but works good
This is great.
The tool; I like to think I can do everything with it – I cant other than make lots of sawdust :). There are so many parts you can pop-on to do other jobs that you buy. It is a very decent tool for the everyday hobby / DIY folks like me. I do think that if you are a professional joiner for example a dedicated tool for a repeat task would suit you better (rebate joints for example).
Box is good, it keeps everything together which is handy in a small one bedroom flat. The drawers on mine are a bit sticky after my niece pushed the box of the table and jumped on it, everything in the box still works great. So it took its hits and kept rocking.
Very happy with this.

A Must-Have ki
I cannot praise this Dremel kit enough, sure it costs a bit more than the numerous budget kits out there, but when you buy Dremel, you buy quality!! I mess about making models, and model railways, and this kit is a must have, so get the little chuck and the vertical holder for routing holes and slots and you can’t go far wrong. My next purchase will be the drill stand, which also doubles up as a tool holder.

Dremel 4000.
Excellent for small work. All the bits you could want and some
Sick tool. I use it for polishing silver as part of my silversmithing class.
– One tip: GET THE DREMEL MULTICHUCK END PIECE. It’s like 8 and then you can fit any old rotary tool component on the end without faffing with screwdrivers. So cool. You can add drill bits, Busch burrs, polishing mops, the works.
– The motor is good, I’m happy with 5000 rpm mostly, going up towards 10000 for power sanding or drilling. Loses some torque when drilling or pressing hard with a sanding chuck
– Haven’t tried it with the flexshaft yet, because I don’t have a stand. I lie the tool sideways, holding it down with the chuck off the end of the bench and then move the silver against the tip, rather than trying to control the tool in mid-air as it’s a little unwieldy for me. You could also clamp it and do it that way.
Sorry to patronise, but just a safety note:
– WEAR EYE PROTECTION and a MASK – dust will fly. Drill bits may break. Metal in the eye is a life-changing injury.
– Metals being worked on will get HOT
Excellent bit of kit form a brand leader, have only used it a few times and have successfully managed to sort out some pretty low quality diamond tip bits (not dremel) as a result will only buy quality tools for the unit.
Only hang up is the fiddly nature of fitting any of the attachments, but once fitted work well. I like to the quality tool box as well 🙂

More a presentation piece than a DIY tool!
Excellent presentation box that holds everything in very neatly.
The Dremel is like most pretty useful if you can find a use for it! sharpening blades, cutting screws, engraving… and most of these things are included in this kit.. including a holder and extending cable.
but be careful when using, there is no cover around the business end, so do wear appropriate protection, it cuts hard stuff and will easily have a go at fingers or eyes!
I bought the Dremel 4000 to replace an old Dremel I bought in 2005. Everything in the box as described and nicely packaged in a useful blue zip-up bag – won’t get lost in my workshop! I bought the Keyless chuck to go with it – now that was an excellent move. No more fiddling with spanners, just hold in the shaft lock and undo the chuck – magic and so useful. Decent set of ‘bits’ included to get started as well. Highly recommended.
Dremel 4000-4/65 Corded Multi-Tool with Removable Tool Holder All my dreams have come true.. this thing is BRILLIANT! Cutting, grinding, drilling, sharpening, smoothing and anything I could need for DIY. Packaged in a fantastic case, it is a fantastic set with every possible tool you could need or want. The extension cable is a brilliant addition, along with the hole cutter and all those bits to play with… heaven in DIY form.
Had a 3000 model which broke after reasonably few hours of use. Recently bought the 4000 model (since I had so many accesoories already this was the option that made since instead of switching brands) and the upgrade seems to be worth it. The 4000 model has more power than the 3000 one and the continuous speed dial is useful. I would advise anyone considering to buy the 3000 model to go for the 4000 one instead.
Five Stars
its a xmas present I have one so no probs
Perfect for jobs requiring more precision and finesse then an angle grinder but without struggling to hand saw and file large areas. used most of kit through various protects would of liked to see more bit sizes and cutting disks, especially disks, but can’t flaw the product itself, lends itself nicely to variety of tasks.
Can see however why people have given sour reviews, took a good while to figure out some aspects of the tool, even with instructions. and again.. do burn through those disks..
Get the keyless chuck
Good tool for the price. Collets are fiddly to change and one was hidden on the end of the flexishaft.
Spend the extra 4.99 and get the keyless chuck.
Sturdy enough and full of goodies.
Delivered brilliantly quick.
The dremel itself is brilliant, the tool works brilliantly and if used right will last you for ages.
The cutter set is excellent and works brilliantly as does the polishing tools.
Over all excellent and worth the purchase.
Have as much fun as i am

I bought this to replace a dremel 300 which has served me well for 5 years.
Brilliant Kit. has pretty much everything I need I use this as a professional guitar builder and I use a dremel for many things involved in said trade.
I was really supriseed at the difference in quality from my previous dremel 300. The 4000 is a far superior machine. more powerful and much smoother.
The case and all the accessories make the platinum edition a really good value purchase.
You’ll find yourself looking for things to use it on! 😀
So glad I bought the Dremel…it has proved useful on many occasions, and each time a joy to use. It is a solid, well built and definite must have’ tool.
I would recommend purchasing a ‘shield’ tool attachment, the clear plastic protects against the fragments of whatever is being drilled from hitting the eye, and with steel or rusty metal I use additional eye protection of VoltX ‘overspecs’ safety glasses (also an awesome product as the first overspecs that don’t steam up, and they are crystal clear so are great when working on detail work). I would also recommend purchasing Dremel accessories by kits rather than piece by piece as individual purchases are not good value…and I strongly recommend purchasing better quality accessories, not only do they last longer, they make the job/task you are doing much more enjoyable – cheaper items I have used simply disintegrate or wear out in seconds of use…just my experience..
As said, so glad I bought itand no doubt you will be too
Love i
I’ve only used a limited few bits so far, but I think this is going to be one of those tools that gets gradually more and more use, everything I’ve used it for so far has been made so easy compared to how I used to go about it. Can’t wait to use it again, I just keep coming up with reasons to put it to work.
A DIY'ers must have tool.
Such a versatile tool which should be part of every DIY’ers tool box. Comes with plenty of attachment’s and can do all sorts of jobs. I don’t know how I have managed without one before.
A cordless version may have been a better option for me
It’s a bit of a fiddle attaching the various tools to the body, but has been used successfully on several jobs where a small versatile tool was required. A cordless version may have been a better option for me. The grinding pads don’t last long however the, “engine,” keeps going, and there’s plenty of kit with this particular model.
been looking to get one of these for a long time and finally the jobs stacked up so bit the bullet. Decided on the slightly more powerful one as I knew it would get a bashing and so far has worked great. The included accessories are very useful as well. Having bought some third party cutting blades which were not that good, I would suggest getting Dremel’s own or at least better quality cutting accessories as with any tool it’s only going to be as good as the bits you use in it.
Very happy with this tool and you will find many other uses you hadn’t thought of before!
This is a fantastic set which comes with pretty much everything that you would need to do various in and around the home and more. The wide range of various tool bits are easy to change and come in a neat box to keep them tidy and safe. Each bit can easily be replaced and if you haven’t got something to do a particular job, there is most probably an accessory to allow you to do it. This is a perfect kit for an avid maker or crafter. Overall I would recommend.

Excellent tool
Excellent tool, really useful for all sorts of tasks around the home. A nice, comprehensive kit that is supplied with plenty of accessories and a handy carry case to keep it all together.
Decent drill, but terrible accessory presentation and silly pictogram miniscule instructions let it down. Why?
Pretty good kit in a sturdy plastic storage box.
I would have expected to find the more modern conventional Dremel ‘no tools’ chuck in the case, buy one for 5 to avoid silly little spanners.
The accessories are just chucked loosely and untidily in a small box. Even my cheap ancient BandQit one had a storage box with mount holes to keep it tidy and accessible.
Major failing for this price of ‘premium’ kit.
I like the remote cable, this may help a few micro projects, although the instructions insist you hang it from a drip stand like stucture, it does come with a horizontal drill body holder in blue.
Not a word about this holder in the grey ink picture instructions – I hate pictograph instructions BTW.
I assume you can use the drill in it or it would be pointless.
The accessories are only mentioned in a 1cm square pictogram, poorly drawn, so I think I can identify what they are, maybe.
On test the drill sounds smooth at higher speeds and very ‘grundly’ at the lowest speed – I hope this is normal, never heard a tool make that noise except when knackered.
I have some micro jobs coming up, lets hope this can match my ancient older DIY store one – which last week drilled a tiny rounded screwdriver out of a Honda key for a battery change without grief.
This is a great little tool and much better than I expected. I must admit that I had always thought of these Dremel Multitools as being a bit of a gimmick and not for ‘serious’ use but having had one for a couple of weeks now I’ve been surprised by how powerful and versatile it is. As an example, the grinding wheel attachment, whilst tiny, is easily able to slice its way through 3mm sheet steel. The sanding discs are effective and the tools are very interchangeable. Really impressed.
Very useful
I love this tool, & have so far only used it on wood. I also bought the dremel router attachment & the 3 in 1 workstation & have found all of it very useful. I’ve used it as a router, sander, carving, engraving and polishing. Easy to use and despite running it continually for over an hour carving a piece of Oak it didn’t get hot. The flexible attachment is also a very useful tool.
Versatile and great for smaller projects
A decent tool for relatively small tasks. Don’t expect to be sanding big projects or cutting and drilling big bits of lumbar. It’s for modelling and small projects.
Super handy for getting into small areas or doing finer, more fiddly work.
There are heaps of attachments and accessories available, which make it a very versatile tool.
Quality isn’t the best but it’s not poor either.
I should have bought one years ago.
I never knew how much I could do with this tool especially intricate work. A great detail tool as well for model building like Airfix and Warhammer. I don’t know why I didn’t get one years ago. This comes with loads of accessories.
Great and useful piece of ki
Great and useful piece of kit, bit of a shame that it doesn’t come with some bigger carbide pieces but they can be picked up else where. Flexi cable is brilliant and great for that finer work. Unfortunately early on my tool became occasionally intermittent and wouldn’t turn on straight away.
Great tool. Well packaged
Great little tool and very well made box. The only reason not to give top ratings is some of the provided Tools broke up when I was using them for polishing/sanding.
As a craft worker (mostly model railways) this is a brilliant piece of kit. Some folk are apt to complain about the number of sanding discs which is frankly just nit-picking. This is a serious piece of top quality equipment. I am even having a go at lettering with one bits on scrap wood. This is a really superb tool with a good quality case. I am very tempted to look at other attachments – but, as a pensioner, I have to watch the pennies. If you purchase one of these the possibilities are endless.
Brilliant little tool & worth every penny
Brilliant little tool & worth every penny. The accessories i have used up to now are robust and wear very well.
Five Stars
Use the original box and no exact box for protection when shipping… other than that everything okay.
Excellent piece of ki
Great price, great range of attachments. The other half loves it.
Scalpal lol ;0)
Boys n their toys more versatile than a swiss army knife ;0)
What I expected
Top notch product. Easy to use. Very versatile tool to own.
I bought this to assist in Jewellery making having first borrowed the rechargeable 8200 version from a friend to see if it was the type of thing I required. I went for this corded version in this package as it is supplied with the flexible shaft and the shaping platform. As you would expect the unit seems well built and the design well thought out, it has a great range of speed and is perfectly suited to shaping, sanding and polishing both silver and copper Jewellery. A lot of people advise changing the standard 3mm collet for the chuck but all the mounted tools I have used are 3mm anyway so changing couldn’t be easier left as it is. The only thing im not so sure about is the blue plastic holster that made this set about 5 more than the other set in the grey case, I thought it would hold the Dremel rigid on the bench so I could hold the work piece in two hands, but it does not, I guess it is just designed as a tidy to be screwed to the wall or for when using the flexi-shaft, although I have not tried it in the holster with the flexi-shaft as yet. The only advantage the cordless 8200 version had was it was quite useful to take it outside when the fluff flies off the polishing mop, but the assurance that the battery is not going to suddenly die in the middle of the job makes the 4000 the right choice for me.
This is great. Get’s used almost every day as my good lady is a goldsmith. I have also wired it up to a foot switch (on/off). The switch cost 2.74 and this is what it is. SODIAL(R) AC 250V 10A SPDT NO NC Antislip. If you are thinking of getting a speed control footswitch, be sure that it can handle 5amps at full speed. Many out there for 20 – 30 rate to only 3amps at fully on. Health and safety bit – only wire a foot switch to this device if you know how to safely do this. Anyhoo, the Dremel is awesome. It has replaced an old jewellers pendant drill that cost six times what this one did. This dremel is powerful! Would be very happy to recommend this product.
My previous rotary tool was a Woolworths one, so I guess I can’t grumble about how long it lasted, but when it exploded in my hand I was glad I was wearing my work gloves. I decided to get the real thing and chose this because it has a good range of accessories with it, the flexible shaft which gives it a whole new range of possibilities, and a soft case which some have criticised, but as someone who travels around with hard plastic tool boxes and metal equipment in the back of the van, having a few things in soft cases helps with packing so that you don’t have so many hard items banging against each other making a noise and damaging them. I use old sheets to pad things but I don’t need to worry with this.

The first thing that immediately attracted me to this item was the case, and pictures really don’t do it justice.
It’s made of aluminium and plastic, with 30mm thick internal fitted foam.
The 8 corners of the case contain chrome brackets that are riveted in place, and the edges have aluminium right-angle extrusions which are also riveted.
Not only does it look fantastic, it feels very solid without being too heavy or cumbersome.
The end result is a very attractive, functional and rugged tool case.
The case contains only one draw, which holds the right-angle attachment, the Shaping Platform, the Line and Circle Cutting Attachment as well as 2 empty plastic accessory storage cases.
The draw locks into place when the top lid is closed, so it can’t slide open while being carried.
It can also be removed completely from the case by pushing a plastic tab on the hinge on each side of the drawer (one side has to be pushed up, the other side pushed down).
The draw hinges are quality full length extension hinges (38mm wide) with ball bearings, so the action is solid and smooth.
What I would have really loved is another drawer, or more cut-outs in the foam for other attachments as the case could hold a LOT more.
But the top compartment does have storage room, so you could throw a few attachments in there.
The case measurements are:
435 mm (L) x 210 mm (H) x 220 mm (D).
The top compartment holds the Dremel 4000, the Flex-Shaft Attachment, the Detailer’s Grip and the Universal Cutting Attachment (AKA Multi Purpose Cutting Attachment 566).
The kit is reasonably good value as you get 6 attachments and 128 accessories, which add up to be a fair bit.
However, the attachments are at the cheaper end of the range and although 128 accessories sounds like a lot, and it is, it’s made up of a lot of the cheaper sanding bands/discs.
The tool and the attachments are standard, the only thing that’s different in this kit is the case.
So, there really isn’t a need to review each attachment or the tool itself, numerous individual Amazon reviews are available.
Except for one thing, it used to be the brushes on the Dremel 4000 could be accessed by simply unscrewing the two silver brush caps on each side with a slotted screwdriver.
However, with the model I received there are no removable motor brush caps, as the brush caps aren’t visible or accessible and are covered in the soft grip rubber body coating.
All you can see is the outline of them, so to change the brushes you would have to unscrew the entire housing cover.
It’s not because this is a Limited Edition, as some of the “regular” versions also are the same as mine.
Check out some videos or pictures and you’ll see both types.
So one is either an upgraded version, or for some reason it differs geographically.
I’m in the process of contacting Dremel to find out, and if I do I will update this post.
One other thing is that although the ad states you get a Dremel poster, I never received one.
In summing up, although this is one of the most expensive Dremel 4000 kits available (it’s the 2nd best kit ever released by Dremel), it’s fairly comprehensive and the case is absolutely awesome.
If you were going to buy a heap of attachments eventually, this is the kit to buy.
Oh, and did I mention how great the case was?
G’Day from Australia.
