I ordered this I litre kettle as I have arthritis and a large kettle is just too heavy. This kettle is ideal for myself and my husband. It looks lovely too and matches all the other stainless steel and black items in my kitchen. Very pleased with my purchase. Have had friends say that they want one too now.
Great for a small kitche
I have the large version at home, which I am delighted with, but hardly ever fill it above the 3 cup mark When my daughter moved into a flat with a tiny kitchen, the smaller version seemed ideal – it can make 4 cups of tea or coffee and she has not had any problems with it being too small.

Great kettle, but it is only 1 litre which makes 3 mugs of tea a struggle. The kettle has been breat for the last 2 years until my 15 year old son had the brilliant idea of using it to boil milk. Suprisingly the Dualit is not up to this reasonable task. However, I’m thrilled as I now have the excuse to replace this great kettle with the bigger version and jave a great story to embarrass my son with whenever he makes hot chocolate. Hopefully his next brilliant idea wont be to make soup inside the kettle….

After more than two weeks of daily use , I found the Dualit Mini Jug Kettle is the best kettle I ever used.

All metal construction – I’m sure my coffee tastes better than when I used a plastic one. To be clear this is only 1 litre capacity, so ideal for one/two people – Probably not big enough for family use. Ideal for a small kitchen though. Also, reports of leaks from Dualit kettles might be much exaggerated: this is a STAINLESS STEEL kettle, so condensation does gather on the outside in use (unavoidable – basic physics). My daughter had one of these and I thought it was brilliant. When my husband makes a ‘normal’ coff he always fills kettle up. With this you can’t. Fill to max for 2 mugs, brilliant. Highly recommended.

Excellent product, as there are only two of us in the house that are coffee/tea drinkers this purchase haste made perfect sense in terms of efficiency. Initially we were a little concerned about the size but it actually makes perfect sense, if filled to max you can easily get three mugs.

Ideal For Smaller Households.
This jug kettle is an ideal size. It’s much lighter than the full size kettle, therefore easier for me to lift as I have problems with arthritis. It easily boils enough water for up to three people. I previously had its big brother, which was becoming difficult to lift. When it failed, after around 7 years, I didn’t hesitate to buy the smaller version. Very pleased with it.

I first bought one of these kettles after I had an accident leaving me amongst other things with a very painful shoulder. I could not manage a full size kettle at the time so this was great. It lasted 7 years and I replaced it. As there are only two of us in the house, this amount of water is adequate for all our hot drink requirements, and what a saving on electricity.

Pleased with this. I got fed up of replacing kettles so decided to go for one which hopefully will last much longer. We had a very nice Prestige plastic kettle which lasted about 2 and a half years then died. I don’t think two and a half years is that long for something that costs over 30, but replaced it with the same one as we liked the style – and the second one overheated and died within 3 months (plus it was too easy for the safety switch to get held in if pressed up against something). So I thought – right – I want a stainless steel kettle that isn’t too big and heavy and has a safety switch that flips up and down rather than in and out. I had seen these a number of times but thought them a bit pricey. But – this one cost just under 40 and my old one cost about 35 – and if this lasts much longer it will be worth it. I bought the 1 litre one because I didn’t want anything too heavy, and at first it did look small and strange sitting on the worktop, but it really is a great size. We usually only boil water for cups of tea, and it is more than adequate for that. It is nice to use, ergonomic and well designed. The safety switch flips up and down so won’t get accidentally pressed in. The lid is just right – firm enough to stay on but not too firm to pull off. It pours excellently. It comes with a warning saying not to pour for 10 seconds after boiling, to avoid steam burns, which sounded a bit alarming, but actually it is no different to any other kettle in this respect and I realised that we normally do wait a few seconds anyway – and the times we haven’t waited we have had no problems with steam – it is a good kettle. I don’t think I will ever buy a big one again now for a number of reasons:
1) It is supposed to be one of the most expensive uses of electricity and we used to boil full kettles when we didn’t need them – just filled it up to save filling it up, if you know what I mean
2) It is such a nice size, weight and shape to use.
3) You don’t need more than a litre of water – unless you boil water for a pan to cook vegetables in, which we used to do, but have now decided that is a bad idea because it wears the kettle out too quickly and because the water boils almost as quickly on the hob and is probably cheaper to boil on the hob. On the odd occasion when I have been in a real hurry I have just boiled this one twice – no big deal.
It is not the fastest kettle we have ever had, but it is fast enough and certainly not slow. It is a bit noisy but probably no more than most other kettles.
I would recommend it highly.

Handy for it’s purpose in that not too much water needs be boiled at one time. The opening lid is a little stiff to open at first but through time it eases and is absolutely fine.

I’m so pleased with this kettle I felt I just had to write a review.
I love it when a seemingly mundane product surprises you with its form and function and this kettle shouts quality in every part of it’s build and design. The build quality is very good and the materials used feel and look high quality. It is sturdy without being heavy.
The 1ltr capacity is perfect for our small family. It will boil about 2.5 mugs or 3 cups worth, plenty for our needs. This limits the wasted energy of a full size kettle and also makes it lighter to lift and pour when full.
The other very good feature which I had not anticipated is the design of the handle. It is a large handle offset from the jug further than normal which means you can get a firm balanced grip without fear of burning your knuckles on the bowl. There is no steam escaping on to your hand when you pour just after boiling which is also important.
I have only owned it for about a month so its durability is yet to be established but so far so good. I would recommend this kettle without exception.

Great small kettle
I wanted a smaller kettle to prevent my husband from boiling far too water much every time he used it. It has certainly helped, and the gauge at the side enables us to see the water level easily. The kettle is lightweight to use and with its big handle it would be worth considering for an older person or someone who finds it difficult to lift heavy weights. It also seems to respond well to limescale de-scaler. I have had to do this once so far and it came up like new. The downsides? The gauge does suffer from water droplets for most of the time, which cloud it, so the water level is not as obvious as it might be. The lid feels a bit ‘cludgy’ to use (I have seen reviews where the hinge has failed, so I am very careful with it). And, of course, it is horrendously expensive to buy. Overall, however, I am very pleased with it and, with those caveats, would definitely recommend.

I have had one of these for about 6 weeks and am very impressed with it. As the description clearly describes, this is the smaller of the Dualit jug kettle range but is no mini travel item as it has a full power 2kw element for fast boiling and holds 2 pints to the maximum fill mark. This makes it great in the kitchen where it is a handsome, sturdy and compact addition to the worktop. It would also make it unsuitable for places with a very limited power supply such as caravans, hotel rooms, in-car inverters or small camping generators. For that you should look to a model where the element is around 500w.
I have arthritis and initially found the hinged lid to be a little too firm but solved this very easily using the 3 clearly visible tension pips on the inside of the lid. The result is a kettle which has a secure lid and is a joy and ease to fill in-situ. People with arthritis tend to make adaptations to every day tasks and my kettle-filling tip is to leave the appliance on the stand, open the lid then part fill a lightweight plastic jug with the required water:)
In another section I heard someone complain that the directions of Dualit kettles advise that they should not be left with standing water. This is not in the essential safety instructions but is given as advice for people in hard water areas to avoid rapid scale build up. Taken in context the advice is a helpful suggestion, not a dire warning!

Edited To Add Text- It is now 14 months later and I have had not even one minor problem even though the lovely compact kettle is used perhaps 8 or 9 times a day. It has also never shown any sign of scale, have other people found that or is it just our soft water?
Edit – It has now been three years and this kettle remains one of my better acquisitions with not one problem thus far.

I remain very pleased with it and have purchased a second so that I have a replacement when my original finally stops working

I have had one of these for about 6 weeks and am very impressed with it. As the description clearly describes, this is the smaller of the Dualit jug kettle range but is no mini travel item as it has a full power 2kw element for fast boiling and holds 2 pints to the maximum fill mark. This makes it great in the kitchen where it is a handsome, sturdy and compact addition to the worktop. It would also make it unsuitable for places with a very limited power supply such as caravans, hotel rooms, in-car inverters or small camping generators. For that you should look to a model where the element is around 500w.
I have arthritis and initially found the hinged lid to be a little too firm but solved this very easily using the 3 clearly visible tension pips on the inside of the lid. The result is a kettle which has a secure lid and is a joy and ease to fill in-situ. People with arthritis tend to make adaptations to every day tasks and my kettle-filling tip is to leave the appliance on the stand, open the lid then part fill a lightweight plastic jug with the required water:)
In another section I heard someone complain that the directions of Dualit kettles advise that they should not be left with standing water. This is not in the essential safety instructions but is given as advice for people in hard water areas to avoid rapid scale build up. Taken in context the advice is a helpful suggestion, not a dire warning!

Edited To Add Text- It is now 14 months later and I have had not even one minor problem even though the lovely compact kettle is used perhaps 8 or 9 times a day. It has also never shown any sign of scale, have other people found that or is it just our soft water?
Edit – It has now been three years and this kettle remains one of my better acquisitions with not one problem thus far.
