I was a little sceptical before seeing this little robot work. I could not believe the amount of dust it collected on its first ‘outing’ around the ground floor of the house. It was easy to initially set up and also add to Alexa. If the Deebot (renamed Fred) is not in the same room as the charging base when the battery needs recharging it does take a while for it to find its way home.
This is a more basic robotic vacuum as far as they go, it used random motion instead of mapping out your home, and it’s fairly basic – but that might not matter depending on your home. I have a 1 bedroom flat, and this is absolutely ideal. No stairs to worry about, and small enough that an hour or so bumbling around covers probably 98% of the floor every single day when I’m at work. If you have a bigger home, then you might benefit from something more methodical, but for smaller homes there really is no need.
The cleaning is great – I have short pile carpets throughout and despite deep cleaning a few days before I ordered the deebot, it’s found a staggering amount of dust – and it gets into places that I could never get with the dyson. Getting home every day to noticeably spotless floors is brilliant.
The first few days brought a slight learning curve. I’ve had to tuck a couple of small wires out the way, but that’s not a big issue. Day one it got stuck when it found a sock in my bedroom, and today whilst cleaning behind the bathroom door, it managed to push the door closed and get trapped in the bathroom – but honestly, it doesn’t matter. At this price, and at this more basic end of the automatic vacuums, I’m not expecting something that is flawless every single day – because it’s vacuuming much more frequently than I would do, so I’m happy to accept the odd snag as part of the value proposition. The side effect of this is I now spend a few minutes every morning tidying up any bits around the place, and my flat has never been tidier or cleaner.
It does a great job at the edges of the room, the upright dyson can only match it if you go round with the edging tool, so it’s fairly thorough.
Alexa integration works, but was a pain to get working initially – the Alexa app kept on not discovering it – but in all honesty again this is a bit of a non issue. Setup a daily schedule, and just leave it to do what it does. If you are in the house all day, manually setting it going at a time that suits you might be better, but I’m out the flat all day so the schedule in the app works just fine.
This won’t suit every home, but for a small, tidy home with few obstacles it’s absolutely ideal, and I can’t see how a more expensive one could be much better in practice. The most important thing is it actually does a good overall job – it’s not a gimmick.
It frequently stops for one reason or another. So there’s no leaving it to get on and park itself
Very useful for someone who struggles with vacuuming. Just press play and out he comes! Does get a bit confused if any obstacles in the way, and also as I have long hair which sheds a lot, it does get wrapped around the brushes a bit. But made my life a whole lot easie
I love this product so much! Honestly, if you’re on the fence, just get it. It seems like the bad reviews on here are really only about occasional faults which can happen with any electrical item. It’s exactly what I needed. I clean my house VERY regularly (ocd) but because we have 6 cats, they tend to leave a lot of hair and bits of kibbles all over the place. This deals with it brilliantly so now I don’t have to clean every night after getting home from work. I was concerned about the suction before buying but it really is great. The image I included was what the robot collected AFTER I’d been round the floor with the hoover and mop. Amazing. Picks up the bits of cat biscuits better than my normal vacuum and it’s a Shark. It’s not as noisy as the Shark, or its handheld version. You can have a conversation easily with it running. Does a great job at covering our large kitchen diner floor and carpeted living room. Easily avoids obstacles and gets itself unstuck from things without intervention. If I had one tiny issue it would be that it is slightly bigger in size/diameter than I was expecting but that’s not really an issue, now is it. It will appear when watching it that it goes into that same areas all the time and you’ll be concerned it isn’t getting everywhere but by the time it’s completed a cycle it will have. It does get to everywhere even if it doesn’t look like it.
Easily one of, if not the best purchase I’ve made for the house.
I usually don’t write reviews but OMG.
So we’ve got this vacuum as we have 2 rabbits and no matter how much we cleaned manually there was constant balls of hair arround the house and disgusting looking carpets. I was spending hours each week cleaning their fur and hay mess. Since we’ve got it I don’t need to worry about anything, the suction is great it takes in all the hair, hay and droppings (and some pieces of cardboard).
The rabbits got used to it quickly as soon as they realised that it stops arround them and avoids them.
Overall it’s a life saver, I recommend it to any pet owner as it will save u tons of time and stress!
He has a lot of furniture and this glides effortlessly underneath.
The suction power isn’t as strong as more powerful uprights but more than perfectly adequate.
The edging feature works well as does the feature to stop it falling down stairs.
Did buy an Alexa but he prefers to use the remote to control it.
It scuttles about like a little beetle and is very cute – not quite the companionship of a dog or cat but he seems very happy with indeed.
Exceeded my expectations- efficient and very simple to operate and will make dad’s life much easier.
Don’t know what more justification you need to buy one, saves so much time hoovering after the kids have used the floor as a plate.
So easy and simple to set up and use, get it out of the box, plug in the charging station, put the brushes on the bottom, download the app, set the timer on the remote, done.
I’ve only used it for a couple of days but already, just knowing you can come home and the floor isn’t going to be covered in them annoying little bits that kids are notorious for spreading around the house, or hair, fluff and any other bits that end up on the floor, amazed at how much rubbish this little bad boy picks up, at the end of the day too if you have to get the hoover out for the 100mm square that it might miss, it’s not the end of the world, would 100% recommend one.
Installation was simple although you need the ECOVACs HOME app not the Debott2017 version which Play store kept giving me. Connection to Alexa was a doddle and she could command him first time.
He doesn’t have great lifting power but he goes about his job, back and forth, and gets everything eventually. He is great fun to watch as he spins to do corners, navigates round chairs, avoids steps.
His bin is small but he certainly fills it so he is definitely picking up dirt.
I love him and will have to get one for upstairs as well
I’ve had it for almost 2 weeks now, first day i had to empty it half way through cleaning because it was so clogged up with hair(the tool made it easy to remove) I hadn’t realised how much my regular vacuuming didn’t pick up the hair.
Be sure to keep things like cables out of its way, it’ll eat, complain loudly, then regurgitate the cable.
In my small flat with lots of chair legs it has difficulty finding its way home and you need to remote control car it back to “Home” it’ll bump into something and get distracted as to where it’s going and not find home.
My partner complains that it’s too noisy, but that because he sleeps in and there is no background noise once I’ve left for work. And it’s a darn side quieter than a regular vacuum.
I haven’t used it with Alexa, but get some joy using it like an adult remote controlled car…
Works great. But mother has long hair. So wraps around. Need to clean the brush once a week. But really easy to take out and do.
The tub for bits that it’s picked up. Needs emptying also prob once a week depends on how mucky your floor gets. Ie grandkids and biscuit crumbs.
But mum loves it.
The only problem we have is it comes on at 12 midnight and does a clean. We have tried 3 times to change this. We are doing something wrong, but we will figure this out lol.
All in all a great bit of kit.
A good price for this product and pleased I looked at the reviews first. My wife did not want one so I had to convince her but when it arrived & charged, she couldn’t believe the difference. I vacuumed just before I set it off and it still was full after 15 minutes.. Worth every penny.
I recently broke my ankle and was frustrated I couldn’t easily sweep up crumbs on our Amtico kitchen floor or fluff on the lounge carpet. I bought this little vacuum and absolutely love it. Brilliant. Really effective and now I cannot live without it, goes on every morning does the Lounge & Kitchen. Then I recharge and it goes upstairs and works its way around. Doesn’t like a sock or a face mask, or the mat for the WC so make sure the floors are free of items that can be easily sucked up as it will try and clean a mat that isn’t pinned down. Not a substitute for a full on vacuum but definitely has made life easier for me.
We call him Bob. He does just bumble along. But easier sometimes to just send him where you want with the controller then go home.
Alexa is connected but I can’t get it to work well.
You can use app on your phone as a remote. Also can tell him when to come out to clean.
He’s pretty good.
I have really long hair and he’s shown no issues just yet with cleaning up. Also dog hair. Very pleased
This little robot is just the best! When I first got it I ran it right away with the small amount of charge it comes with, and while it only ran for about 30 minutes on “standard” suction, it managed to fill up most of it’s container with hair! (pictured).
I dislike anything that has functionality locked behind an app, unfortunately you have to use the app to set up scheduled cleaning and choose the suction strength. I was ready to deduct a star for that, however setting up both the robot and the app was painless and worked with no issues right out of the box so it stays at 5 stars.
We have ours set up to clean twice a day, once at 11am and once at 10pm. It’s quiet enough – even on max suction – that you could leave it running downstairs while sleeping upstairs. And each clean runs for about 60-90 minutes on max suction until the battery runs out, which is enough for it to run through our small kitchen, hallway and living room about 4 or 5 times before returning to charge.
The remote comes with controls so you can direct it to a specific area if you need to, and the additional modes are pretty great (though scheduled cleaning only ever works with “auto” mode, but in practice this isn’t an issue).
I’m impressed with how it manages to find it’s way back to charge every time. I’ve not ever had to rescue it, and it does a great job of cleaning around the wires instead of sucking them up.
We have the charging station placed underneath the TV stand, it has no problem locating it and hiding underneath the TV stand to charge out of view.
For pet-less apartments, I can see one of these easily replacing a proper vacuum altogether. For us that won’t be the case as we still need to vacuum upstairs manually and get fur out from the places the robot can’t reach. But it has reduced the amount of times I need to vacuum from 4 times a week to just once in a while.
Plus the amount of fur in the house has reduced overall since the robot catches it before us humans get a chance to kick it around the house.
Overall for the price this is a must buy. A few more features (like choosing suction strength based on time of day) would be nice, but the features it does have all work great and are implemented well. It’s simple, it gets the job done.
Get one.
I was unable to get the robot to link to my internet but it works fine using the button on the robot itself and the remote control. It works really well on hard floors but is less effective on carpets.
I received my deebot today and it has spent the evening cleaning and I’m ashamed to say it has reached under places I have not cleaned for months. It has managed to navigate round obstacles with ease and I’m as happy as a pig in poo with it. I hoovered this morning with a dyson and still the deebot picked up so much fluff that after using it upstairs and down the compartment was FULL! I also find the deebot rather quiet, I’d even go as far as to say rather relaxing to listen to with your feet up with a cuppa. Would definitely recommend based on my first go. It has managed to clean up with ease after a 6 year old, a cat and a dog and myself so lots of hairs and crumbs!
So far so good. I bought a more expensive mova model from Amazon and it was useless. This however even though it has less suction power and no mapping ability unlike the formentioned mova it is infinity better.
Works great on my low and medium carpet, the dust pan is always full.
It eventually finds its way around my entire flat doing a decent clean before the battery dies and so far it’s always found its way home without help.
It’s gotten stuck a few times, on a really thick really long pile rug and when it tried to suck up a sock otherwise it works a treat.
Good little robot. Does a good job although it doesn’t appear to have a plan. It seems to run around almost randomly. It does eventually sweep the whole floor, but it mosquitos about. C3PO would have slapped it by now.
My first entry to robot cleaners. Basic set up was easy, app set up a little more fiddly. Cleaning is really rather good, except for corners. Be surprised how quickly the bin fills up on carpets you thought were clean. A fair amount of furniture prep is required, ensuring it has access to the areas and rooms you want cleaning. Light rugs i.e. over kitchen entrance etc are a litle tedious and it can become stuck. If setting an early morning clean I have found it sets the alarm off. A swap to pet proof sensors would, I am sure, resolve that.
Deebot is a great addition to the family. It powers around the house for an hour or so each day cleaning up the bits and bobs that litter the floor. It is one less job for me to do. It is a bit noisy but if you close the door of the room it’s in the noise is gone. It can get stuck under awkward features so I do need to be around to free it if necessary but that’s rare. Generally, it does it’s own thing effectively and quickly. One of the best purchases I’ve made in a long time. It has app connectivity which I haven’t used yet but there is the option. Easy to clean. Great little recharging port that it goes back to on its own. Brilliant!
Very impressed so far. Set the timer for 10 a.m. but it decided that 3 a.m. was a better time so have cancelled the timer and it did not start it up early in the next morning. Outstanding cleaning in the 1 hour 45 minutes run time on a full charge.and did a majority of the floor space of wood, laminate and ceramic floor tiles (I don’t have carpets other than door mats). Tendency to get stuck under one cupboard and my radiator covers but not a problem as I will put a barrier up next time I use it. I find the remote enough for me to control it. I was going to connect Alexa but needed to download the app first which I would have had to pay for on Amazon besides which the reviews for the app were not that good.
I was not expecting much of a robot vacuum at this price, but Deebot has definitely exceeded my expectations. It was easy to connect to the app and my Alexa devices. It cleans very well and even can go over our deep pile rug. It can also get to places that would not normally get cleaned on a daily basis, such as under the sofas and cabinets. This means if you want it to not be in sight when charging you can put the charging pad under a cabinet, Deebot lives under the sideboard when not in use. The only negatives would be that it is random in its cleaning, but it does seem to get everywhere before it goes back to charge. Having said that nothing in this price range does scans of rooms and smart cleaning so would be paying much more for these features. Overall, it is excellent for the price and our household loves our little Deebot cleaning buddy.
I bought this little guy when my last vacuum gave up and boy do I love him.
This little bot does a fantastic job every day and saves me having to do any vacuuming (which I hate) and even manages to vacuum up all of my hair (which is long and as I shed a lot, it’s everywhere, all the time).
He also did a better job on the carpet in my home office than the last two (so called powerful) vacuums combined.
Everything is so much simpler & easier to use than any vacuum I’ve ever owned & my only complaint is that I didn’t buy one sooner.
It’s great fun to watch it working and nice that you can schedule it to work. One issue with this is that you can’t specify for how long, so imagine it just keeps going till the battery gets low, this could be a bit excessive for smaller areas. I like that its got an edge mode, so can go around the edge picking up extra that you may have missed with a normal hoover.
The auto mode seems to bounce it back and forwards in a random fashion but have seen it go into edge mode at times, but then give up after a bit and goes back to bouncing across the room. I also tried it in the bedroom where it can go under the bed, it collected a whole container of dust which was quite amazing, as I cleaned under there a few months ago.
For the price and other reviews it seems a great toy to have, will keep my kitchen and other rooms clean saving me time and making me lazier!! I like the look of the ecovacs 920 which is quite a bit more, but seems more intelligent, with a laser that scans the room (maybe the next one to get, one upstairs and one down stairs)
Edit: we’ve had him for months and he’s still going strong. His battery might last slightly less than before but its not been an issue. I would say it’s important to keep him clean but when you do it works as good as it did at first. I thought he wasn’t as effective for a couple weeks but after cleaning him I was amazed at the difference. We haven’t had to replace any filters or parts yet. I’ve given it a full clean once, washing also the foam part of the filter and it made it work like new. Putting the side brushes in boiling water also straightened them out again. Its also good to check the bottom brush from time to time and cut out hairs, especially of you have long hair but you need to do this with any vacuum. He was definitely worth the money for us.
We were a bit skeptical purchasing this that it would really clean our floors well. We’ve had it for two days so far and it’s exceeded our expectations. We love it, its another job we don’t have to worry about and the little vac does such a good job. It may miss little bits but with regular use it hasn’t been an issue. We have a cat and the deepot picks up cat hair. I was concerned about the sizes of the floor dividers but it crawls between all the rooms of our flat with no issues. Occasionally bumps into things.
A few things I was nervous about reading other reviews:
The app – I downloaded it and paired it with no issues on my android phone – took like 5 minutes. I can control deepot on my phone and use deep cleaning mode. The remote works great too.
Its charging station – it says to keep 1 meter each side and 2 meters on front. I don’t have much space in my flat and didn’t do that. It sometimes takes him time but he still finds his way home without that amount of space for us.
Was nervous spending money on this but we are so happy we did. Our floors are much cleaner already and it’s one less thing to stress about.
This has been just about the best thing I’ve bought on amazon. Our flat is now cleaned pretty thoroughly on the days and times that suits me. We have a 2 bedroom flat that “she” negotiates around with pretty flawless ease. The Deebot has plenty of suction, sensors to prevent bashing into walls, doors and objects and falling off ledges or down steps and stairs. I have programmed it for a daily clean and she sets off every day for over an hours cleaning before setting off on her own back to the charging point. 3 modes of cleaning random, edging and spot do an excellent job. We have hard floors with medium thicknes rugs and these are negotiated with no problem. Deebot is low enough to get under and into places some others cannot. It can be controled either using the handset provided of remotely using an app on your smart mobile. Watch the YouTube reviews and see it come pretty high up considering the lower price than most. I am disabled so the Deebot 79S has been a fantastic acquisition.
We just got our Deebot yesterday. After charging it for about 4 hours (as the brochure said), we immediately put it to work – we have had no vacuum to clean our house for a while. Imagine that.
With no complaints, it picked up much dust (which I hid from my family 🙂 Then my son walked on the (partly hard, and partly carpeted) floor, and said it felt very different. My husband said the same. Not sure it was a compliment to Deebot, or a word they wanted me to hear 🙂
Anyway, my day felt very different, because I didn’t have to hurt my elbows pushing a vacuum cleaner, and I have time to sit down to write a review while it persistently cleans the room at all angles.
Some things good to know:
1) I did my share to pick up things from the floor that would entangle Deepot as it swept around, so the place was rather ‘tidy’ in that sense when Deebot started working.
2) Since the cat whisker-like side brushes sticking out from under its main body lie very close to the floor, Deebot is able to sweep right under a closed door, a job that cannot be accomplished by a manual vacuum cleaner. Brilliant!
3) Deepot moved in random lines so I would suggest letting it clean room by room for 15-20 minutes so as to be sure that that room is properly vacuumed. Sure enough, one can purchase a more expensive model with a built-in ‘map’. But I think this is a price I can avoid just by giving it some human guidelines. And in order to confine Deebot to one room, all you need is to close the door.
4) We have a pile of plugged-in computer wires (not loose-lying ones) on the floor, and Deebot did not ‘eat them up’, leaving them alone. But mind you, I was there carefully watching, too.
5) Hair and tiny bits of thread get rolled into the main roller, and must be removed to be efficient. There is a little tool that comes with the machine, but I haven’t tried that out yet.
6) Deebot does not do stairs and steps, so we plan on using a handheld car vacuum to do the job, unless if someone else has another idea to offer.
7) After the first vacuum, I immediately emptied the thick layer of dust. I realized that my job now is not to clean the floor, but to clean Deebot. You must also wipe Deebot’s body with a dry cloth, as dust collects around its perimeter, and can dirty the house if left alone to march here and there.
8) Finally, it was fun seeing Deebot ‘go home’. I picked it up manually and used it in a different room, and saw that it was having some difficulty knowing where to go, and I didn’t want to spend time waiting for it to figure out a solution. So to make it a fair game, I brought it back to where it usually sleeps. Sure enough, it went back to its hideout, clicked, and happily nestled.
How long will Deebot last? I don’t know. Sure hope it will, but I can see that its cat whiskers will need replacing after much vigorous work. Well, rather replace its whisker brushes than my own elbow through strenuous manual cleaning, I suppose.
At the end of the day, I am happy to be doing something else (like writing a review) while Deebot helps me clean. Am I happy and thankful? I sure am!
(And I hope to review again after some time to say whether it has lived up to its first glorious moments 🙂
Automated cleaning with access to reasonably priced accessories for the Deebot N79S/SE.
Vacuum performance is goo, with “Standard” and “Max” (listed in the app).
Ecovacs Home mobile app needs work on its performance on android. Most times you have to wait for some time before there is a connection to the Deebot. Although there is connectivity with 5/2.4Ghz hybrid WIFI connections, it seems unstable; to the extent that I had to try multiple times before I established a connection. The app even tells you when to replace the brushes.
My husband bought me this and I have to admit I was a little sceptical. We have 3 children and a newfoundland. I could be hoovering up to 3 times a day maybe more when we are all at home! This little robot has been amazing. He lives under our sofa and stays there to charge. It picks everything up and I really like that it gets all the dust up too. I have it set to come on at night when we are all in bed and if needed I bring him out for some single room or spot cleaning.
I would 100% recommend everyone to get one.
I bought this Hoover over a year ago and it worked well. Recently it started malfunctioning and I contacted the manufacturer to repair it as it is still under warranty. Their customer service is really bad and after a month of emailing and messaging I have got nowhere. Really disappointed in this lack of service as the Deebot is good.
Update: Customer Service came back and sorted it out.
I had been looking for a robot vacuum for some time and finally decided to purchase when this was on offer.
Set up is easy and Alexa integration is great. Really easy to use and works it’s way around a room. What I would say is keep obstacles to a minimum as it can get stuck quite easily.
We find leaving it for half hour to do it’s thing whilst we’re cooking dinner is good. It’ll just keep going until you tell it to stop.
Like the fact you can control the direction on the remote as well, just in case it keeps missing a bit you want to it to focus on.
Oeever, we’ve got a cockerpoo. He’s not a big fan of it and likes to bark! Think that says more about the dog than the hoover though….
Delighted! Why didn’t I meet this robot of my dreams earlier.. ?
Absolutely vital piece of kit for a busy working mum.
I have tiled and wood floors throughout my house so this wee vacuum does the job brilliantly.
We’ve two long-haired chihuahuas, so gone now are the furball tumble weeds that used to gather even after a day.
It even gets under the sofa to get the pesky blighters.
I have it set to do a whip around at 3am, although I would recommend putting up any chairs onto the table at night so the bot can get in and around the table as it can’t negotiate lots of chair legs as it’s too wide.
I love emtying the dust tray to see all the dirt it’s collected overnight whilst I’ve been asleep!
If there’s a bedroom that needs a quick going over I just shut it in.
You do have to make sure anything is lifted off the floor stick as leads and larger bits and bobs.
Overall, fantastic bit of kit for the money. Wish I’d taken the plunge earlier.
It’s great we have large spaces and hard floors so this is brilliant. Needs emptying regularly 3/4 times a day doesn’t fall off stairs. Put 4 for suction as is more of a sweeper than regular hoover. I mean there is some suction but nothing like a regular hoover. Don’t know if I would use it as a main hoover on carpet. Our carpet is quite deep and took many goes to get all sock fluff off outside sons’s bedrooms. But excellent on hard floors. Got it on offer for 169
For carpet hoovering maybe get a more expensive one? But you’ll be emptying it every 5 mins with the fluff. This is an opinion as only used it once on a 9ft x6ft area of carpet.
It’s taken me a while to leave a review as I wanted to make sure I was thorough with this and so I wanted to use it for a while before I left a review.
Little Tobbee came very well packaged and as I have prime he arrived the next day, I managed to snap him up during a promotion, so he only cost me 140, and honestly what a great expense he was!
I first started testing Tobee (that’s the name I have given him, I know he is not a person, but honestly, it’s like he has a personality and genuinely I have laughed at him getting stuck with the mop and chasing the cats around the house) using the remote he comes with, as I have an aversion to instruction manuals I just clicked buttons away having no idea what they did and off he went. I use him mainly downstairs, so the living room and the kitchen, and as I have currently 3 cats, a lot of fur gets collected in the rug in the living room and he does a good job at hoovering that, also providing us with a little twerk as he adjusts from hard floor to carpet. In terms of suction, he does a lot better than I expected and collects a lot of rubbish for his size, I empty him after every use and he is full at that point.
After installing the app and connecting Tobee (using the QR code on his side) the setup was easy to do and super easy to get him set up on the network. I have since scheduled cleaning every day at different times and so far he hasn’t failed to do that.
When he is scheduled to clean, I have noticed he works for around 1h30m, which I assume is his battery life and when he is running low he takes himself to his charging dock that I have set up under the TV stand.
Overall this robot vacuum cleaner is great and having had a chance to use him for a while I honestly mean it when I say that I still would pay full price for him if I had to.
The only thing at the moment that I cannot comment on is his compatibility with Alexa as I haven’t tried to get him to work that way.
Other than that amazing little product that does a lot more than I expected. 5/5
This is an entry-level model. It just bubbles around more or less randomly rather than following a pattern, and I don’t believe it has LiDAR or a anything like that, but it does have object avoidance.
It will pick up charging cables, earrings, hair ties and the detritus your family carelessly leave around the house and this will jam it up a little bit but it is easy enough to clear. The machine seems to be well designed to replace wearable parts.
The first thing to say is that it is surprising how quickly it covers all the ground on the floor. There are not patches leftover. I think robot lawnmowers operate on the same premise.
My second observation is that it cleans incredibly well, particularly on carpets. We had a couple of carpets that were looking properly worn out and after a couple of sessions with the ecovac were looking much more presentable.
Thirdly it picks up a hell of a lot of dust and dog hairs. I put it on what I thought was a clean floor and by the end of its session it was full. You will be frequently cleaning out the the dust trap. However, seeing how much disgusting stuff it’s picked up off your floor is is rather satisfying, emptying the bin is very easy to do so I rather enjoy this.
As with all all modern devices of this kind it has quite a lot of failable parts and and they will break down from time to time. My first model failed rather critically after a week. However the after sales service from the ecovacs team is excellent, and you will be back on your feet in no time.
I can’t imagine now being in a house without one of these robot vacuum cleaners.
Bought this on a lockdown whim and then had guilt I was just being lazy. Spent the first few vacuums watching it – not a good idea as it misses things you can see which is frustrating, but if you shut the door and just leave it to it, it works pretty well and does eventually cover the whole room, especially if you start with an edge mode, and it probably does a better job than I would. Easy to clean although it struggles with my long hair in the brush (once off my head!) but this was a problem with all vacuums I’ve had and the brush is very easy to remove to clean. I am now much more comfortable with a bot doing the work!
All-in-all very impressed even though I’ve only had it a day.
Frankly, I never write reviews.. just dont have time, but for I really need to say something about the N795. It does a super job, all it says in the tin! Great help when you are in lockdown working from home (I used to travel 130 days a year..!), juggling with home schooling and trying to help with chores! N795 is my best pal, wife is happy and my youngest (8) named it Wallie and looks after ‘him’ sticked eyes on and looks after him. Family of 5 happy, and dad has less pressure to keep up with the assigned tasks! I am responsible for cleaning every day – u got to be disciplined! Good addition to the family, thanks for a great piece of R&D!
I love this little deebot. It’s been a god send to me as I’m disabled and can’t manage to vacuum anymore. Does a great job for every day cleans and a lot easier to empty. I’m amazed at how much it picks up. Needs emptying and cleaning after each use especially the filters and give the exterior a wipe over to keep the sensors working properly. Comes with a remote and works most of the time with Alexa (specific commands needed which I keep forgetting). There’s also an app for controlling it although you don’t need the internet as it works from the remote. Make sure your lamp/charging wires etc aren’t trailing because they will be vacuumed up. I call mine Kevin and although he doesn’t map the rooms does pick up most of the mess in a random clean and automatically goes back to base when the battery gets low. I did have a problem with him setting himself off to clean at midnight every night though. The first time it happened I thought I had burglars downstairs. This did my head in for a few nights as I hadn’t set a cleaning schedule, but the remedy is to press the scheduled cleaning button on the remote for 3 seconds (the one with the bell icon not the one that sets the time) whilst the deebot is on its base, switched on and you are standing over it. The deebot should then beep. This did the trick and I’ve had no bother since. All in all a great entry level cleaner which has been a game changer for me in my situation. Good Black Friday deal too.
This is a very basic model in it’s capabilities but it has enough modes to get the job done well. I usually switch it to edge mode first so that it can do all the edges of the room(s) in one run and then after that switch it to auto and just let it do it’s thing. The battery life is very impressive at almost two hours and once battery starts to run low it will take itself back home. However, it’s not always incredibly efficient at finding it’s base and will sometimes just dart off in completely random directions before eventually figuring out where it needs to go.
My other concern is just around the longevity of it. I haven’t had anything happen of concern so far but I just don’t feel that it as robust as a normal manual vacuum cleaner, but time will tell.
Ultimately though, I have to endorse this product fully. It’s been amazing and everyone has great fun just watching it go around and do it’s thing.
The navigation is random, which sometimes annoys me, but for our needs it’s more than enough (small apartment relatively, no pets). I think for a bigger place and / if I had a dog I’d go for the smarter models that keep track of the place. This model just randomally roams the place so with enough time it gets everywhere.
I love the ‘edges’ mode, which means it moves along the edges of your apartment. Useful because a lot of the dust ends up on the edges.
All in all, I’m grateful I got this. Should have done it a long time ago, but I needed the black friday deal I guess. Highly recommend to anyone who would like to earn another free hour or two a week!
Ok picked this up on a black friday sale, was not expecting much, but did some research and reviews were good. Well it, well he has arrived. Not named him yet. He is a he because he wonders around quietly getting on with the job without little fuss or need for recognition. Only satisfaction he requires is when i check and empty how much dust he collects up. He is intelligent because he rarely gets stuck and needs my help setting free from his corner. He finds his dock to recharge he never falls down the stairs. I set a program on google home for him to start hoovering at 7.30 am 7 days a week so he is just finishing when we get up. He is inspiring because now i feel i need also to do some cleaning around the house while he is hoovering. first day we had him we set him to work everywhere and he collected an amazing amount dust and stuff. Over just a week the dust hopper is no where near filling so much. He has done such a good job, i am thinking of reducing his hours to once every two days. He is such a good worker i feel guilty that i might wear him out to soon. My partner on first impressions said it would never replace a human. But I am not so sure, he does more hoovering than her. She never got into the corners either. No seriously , yes i thought before purchasing it , it was most likely a gimmick that would be more trouble than it was worth. But no honestly it is a welcome addition to the home . I have a mixture of wood floor and carpet and he deals with them all without complaint. Time will tell, but so far he has performed floorlessly …. Started by using remote, then installed app to control it. and then went on line youtube video to learn how to connect it to google home. Now i can start hoovering while away from home. Which does startle the kids a bit. Honestly i went from sceptical to , why did i not have one of these before.
I have this item and also a roomba. The roomba picks up slightly better but doesn’t work on dark carpets or badly lit places. The ecovac does both very well. I get up in the morning and ask Google to tell Barry to clean (you need to give him a name in the Google home app) and I close the bedroom door on my way out and off he toddles. It takes a while but is very thorough. No more bits on the black carpet and he’s very good at getting all the dust. Under the bed has never been so clean. If I had to choose between the two I’d pick the ecovac every time. Oh and it’s a fraction of the price!
This is a nifty bit of kit!
I was a little sceptical but after reading the reviews decided to go for it & I have to admit it’s beaten my expectations.
In terms of it’s performance it’s great on my wooden floor & over the rugs & copes well with all the usual dirt, dog hair, crumbs fluff etc. I have it programmed to start a vacuum at 5.00am in the morning & by the time I get up it’s beautifully clean. The app is great & will give me information on the brushes & filter status as well as battery level, it does come with a handy remote control but the app is good & the fact it is controlled by Alexa is another great facility. Now my only negative is that I don’t find it to be a deep clean on my carpets but then again it’s a deep pile carpet with that said it does do a great job over my rugs so it really depends on the type of carpet it has to deal with.
In my opinion for what this costs it’s a great little gizmo & the manufacturer has thought of most things & that’s the reason I’ve given it 5 stars!
Can I only give it 5 stars? I could cheerfully give up my job and become a door to door salesperson for these – if it want for covid I would. Dyson’s reign is surely over. Wonder if I could have an army of them? Can’t do the alexa thing as seems I have the wrong type of wifi but who cares the little darling cleans my carpets with care and thoroughness I had a nightmare that the dog destroyed it, was so relieved when I woke up and it wasn’t true. Course the dog wouldn’t do that – he loves it too, often sets it off for fun.
This is a decent little creature. I have wood flooring so it works a treat in picking up dust and hair and what have you. It does struggle in finding its way around the flat (as it takes a different route each time!). It is good at navigating the glass coffee table and candles but almost always hits the flower pot. Its battery life is INSANE, it cleans the 2 bed flat in about an hour or so but I think full run time is around 3 hours. It isn’t the most powerful vacuum cleaner and you have to be rather patient for it to get to all the areas of the flat (e.g. I see mess in the living room and turn it on, and it immediately runs off to the bedroom and comes to the living room 40 min later!). The integration with Alexa is decent to get it started, but woeful when you want it to stop (Alexa just says goodbye but Igor (the robot) continues cleaning). I recommend it but only if you 1) have wooden floors, 2) are patient 3) don’t have a pet or messy flatmates. Wait to get it on promotion is my opinion!
So impressed! I had an iRobot previously, but after a good couple of years it stopped working as well and we moved to a house which at the time it didn’t take to very well as it didn’t get on with going up rugs etc. So for a year I’ve been manually hoovering (first world problems) and I thought I’d look a getting another one. I’m highly impressed at not only the suction (I didn’t realise the Max setting til near the end of the cycle and it was already doing a good job) but at how much it is picking up, the ability to get into tight spaces (the double brushes will help with this where my other one only had one brush. It’s a lot quieter than the irobot too, and the added bonus of it being a ‘smart device’.
Oh and it’s less than half what I paid for the roomba! Hello life!
This is my second. The first suffered a drive wheel failure. I couldn’t get the unit replaced so I got an onson. my advice is don’t get one of them. constant problems with it. I eventually got a new deebot and the difference from the onson was like chalk and cheese. Deebot finds the recharge station, it gets itself out of tight corners or rugs that try to trap it. With two long haired dogs it will always find hair but after a few days the hair amount is reduced and is easy to clean out. I put the first deebot issues down to simple component failure – which happens. It does a great job and keeps the hard floors we have grit free. Deebots only issue has been in finding something dogs occasionally do in doors overnight. It wasn’t pleasant believe me. On a side note I can now strip a deebot down to clean it (yes I know warranty and returns have been forfeited). What I found is a lot of these cleaners seem to be made in the same factory and branded with features added as required. The brushes and filters all seem fairly similar and would appear to be interchangeable. So with all the issues would I get another deebot? Yes!
On the positives, it picks up quite well, the scheduling functionality is great, and the Alexa/GoogleHub integrations are easy to set up and work well. It’s quiet on the scale of normal vacuum cleaners and gets on with it’s business discreetly. It’s also good for getting into hard to reach places under units and sofas that are often easily neglected.
On the not so positives, it’s not as smart as I would like. It seems to bimble around aimlessly for the most part, hoping not to meet obstacles. This often results in it covering the same areas over and over whilst neglecting other areas or rooms. It doesn’t map out the space to know which areas have been covered and which have not. It does bump into things to. I expected the proximity detectors to be sensitive enough to stop it before it hits obstacles, bit it will often bump into chair legs, balustrades etc. It seems to have particular issues with obstacles it can partially see round or through and keep bumping into them, although skirting boards are also not exempt from its head banging. Fortunately, there is a buffer built into the front, so not damage is caused by it hitting things. It’s not great at edges either, even with the edging functionality. I still find I have to go round and do these, albeit not as frequently as before. On one occasion it also picked up a piece of paper that blocked the dust collector. This meant that as it went around, all it was doing was playing Hansel and Gretel, and leaving a trail of breadcrumbs for me to follow.
But by far and away the best thing about this robot vacuum, is how your cat will react to it. It is hilarious. On the first run, the cat decided to make my new toy her mortal enemy, hissing and swiping at it as it relentless rolled towards her. She would play chicken with it and lose every time, jumping out of the way moments before the brushes swept her up. She soon learnt that the stairs were her safe space, and stayed their playing Dr Who to the new Dalek invader. But after a few more runs, the tension seemed to ease between the two of them, and now the cat will joyously chase the little robot around while it hides under furniture and pops out in random places. I can honestly say, my cat has never had a closer emotional bond to any person or object in her life. She sleeps with this thing on it’s docking station. We’re considering holding a ceremony for them.
In summary, would I but this again? Yes. It will not replace your traditional manual vacuum cleaner, but it does a good enough job to mean you will not spend nearly as much time having to push it around, and that really is why you want to buy a robot vacuum.
I had been looking for a robot hoover for a while , we have cats and i wanted something to keep on top of the pet hair this does that perfectly and goes about its buisness fabulously , it goes under the sofa and around our dining table and chairs it can get stuck but and cleans in a strange way but it does get tot everywhere .Tha app is very good and ive scheduled a daily clean in the morning nd it has worked everytime , battery life is good and the collection cup is good size i clean it out every day it takes a couple of minutes tops.
Overall for a 1st robot cleaner very happy , my only gripe i would of liked it to come with spare sweeper brushes but i am really nit picking.
Absolutely love our new Deebot! We’ve just renovated our downstairs & now have hard floor throughout. We also have a wonderful yet very hairy Collie / Beagle cross who drops her hair for fun. Deebot is a godsend! We base him under our sofa so he’s out of the way, and have scheduled him to clean every morning at 6am, before we rise!
Net result is a very efficient cleaning bot, the dog is intrigued but leaves him to do his thing, and the kids love him!
He picks up a good amount of dog hair & fluff every day & I make sure I empty & clean him every evening before bed.
Definitely not a bot for long pile carpet as he got beached a couple of times on our deep pile door mat, and be sure to leave wires out of the way. We’ve found a couple of places where he gets stuck, but soon solved with strategic placement of cushions!
The price of this was perfect, a treat to myself with some Birthday money. You won’t be disappointed. We love him!!
This device is a God send for me. I have very little time for housework and this little guy has come to my rescue!
It’s really sturdy with excellent suction power. I understand that the suction power can be increased via the app, but I haven’t had the need to.
I can use the remote control or the mobile app to change cleaning mode or direct/redirect Deebot to a particular area.
It’s extremely quiet – I tried it on late at night and was confident that I wasn’t disturbing my neighbours. One of my cats is sensitive to noise and moving objects but she only growled at me once to register her disapproval. The other cat (a kitten) ran around following it’s movement – like a sheepdog!
The battery life is REALLY very impressive – I programmed it for a 6am start and it whirled around for 3 hours before limping back to the docking station, having cleaned the entire one bedroom flat.
I’ve been away a lot so have neglected the hoovering for a while and with two cats, it wasn’t pretty!
I thought I might need to manually hoover around and use Deebot to ‘top-up’ but I didn’t have to!!
Plus, my dog and toddler are totally enamoured with it which is an added bonus!
I’ve had Deebot for over a month now and I have to say, I’m pretty impressed. He has exceeded my expectations. I live in a one bedroom flat and I can turn him on (using Google assistant) and leave him to auto around the flat and it ends up pretty clean. I have hardwood floors in the lounge, along with a medium pile rug and carpet in the bedroom. He sometimes needs a bit of navigation to the bedroom because when left in Auto he will tend to stay in the lounge and kitchen and he sometimes gets stuck under the sofa but all in all I’m very happy. I thought it would need far more maintenance and have far more malfunctions but not at all. If I send him back to the charger, it takes him a while to find it, but it might be because it’s located in the hall and I think it’s funny to watch him try and find it.
He is mainly sucking up dust, hair and the odd bits and pieces. I’ve not tried him on a massive spill of soil or dirt etc. The first week I got him, I didn’t hoover for 7 days beforehand so I could get a good idea of how well he would function and the little bin on the back of him was jammed solid with dust and feathers and bits. Lovely.
I recommend this product.
So far so good! It’s been a life changing addition to my 4 pet household. It runs scheduled twice a day. It also has started trying to run unscheduled at 10pm which is a bit odd but not an issue as its battery is alway out at that time as it’s only just finished its evening run shortly before. I probably just need to reset it or something.
It tackles the copious hair and dust in my home with ease. It always seems to find some even when the carpets or floors look ok!
It runs over thresholds with no issues it only occasionally gets stuck on my poang chairs. Goes under most furniture too.
Cleans well on hard floors and even manages my carpets and rugs ok. It does bunny hop z little against the pile but it smooths out again on it’s return pass. Definitely picks up more dust that I realised was there.
Mostly finds it’s way home ok.
I’ve not linked it to Alexa so cant comment on that. The Phone app is easy enough to use.
I empty the dust box and tap out the filter each time and it seems fine.
The brushes get a bit screwed up if it gets stuck on something but if you soak them in boiling water they mostly go back into the right shape again. Spares are relatively easy to come by. I have changed the filter already because it looked filthy but the 2nd one is holding up better. There must have been an excessive amount of dust in my home before I started using it! Lol
I’d be tempted to consider the mopping version but at more than twice the price this is just fine. It is so refreshing to think I’ll just mop the floors instead of having to hoover sweep and hoover again before I do.
Oh, added bonus, my husband, who is a bit of a geek loves it..
Advice. Don’t watch it, because it cleans randomly it drove me mad thinking it had missed bits. But after an hour it had got everything in a 12 by 15 foot carpeted room
Its very early days, so this is my first impression. Setup, charging was simple. WiFi/ App setup was easy, but did take 2 attempts. Alexa integration was easy, but you need to enable Deebot skill not try to find new device, cos it won’t. Ask Alexa, tell deebot to clean, stop or charge all works perfectly.
Now as for Deebot going back to the charger, as long as you accept that it is a machine without a human brain, then it will eventually find the charger, but it may take a while as it goes round the house using sensors to look for it. It doesn’t remember where it is..if you ask it to go charge in one room & the chargers in another then it has to go all around the house to look for it If its fairly new the charger then of course it’ll go there in a few seconds.
Suction, its never going to be a replacement for the big vacuum cleaners, but to keep those clumps of fluff that appear for no reason or general unseen grit from bottom of shoes etc then its ideal. Also goes from hard floor onto deep pile rug with no problem.
Overall I’d definitely recommend this little helper especially if like me, due to illness getting the vacuum out regularly is a pain.
If it lets me down once I’ve had it a while, I will review.
Where do i begin… ive wanted a Robotic vaccum for sometime and was amazed when i saw that this 1 works with Alexa.. upon arrival … i was disappointed that the colour was Brown and there wasnt an option to choose black.. setting up was very simple remote signs are common sense.. the Robot moves very slow but eventually (after an 1 hour) completes the job. It knows when its near a stairs or large objects. Be careful it does detect wires , pencil and can find itslef been jammed or in a knot.
Ive not got a 1 level home so find myslef having to pause it the carrying it by hand to other floors then bringing it back down to the charging port,, ( they should advertise more charging port bays) for bigger homes..
What i really dont like and ive seen it been joked about a lot . Once u instruct it to charge either by the remote or alexa etc it DOESNT go straight way it moves around for another 30 mins then finally finds it!!! .. there should seriously be some strong detector to signal to the robot where to go..
Suction aint great lets be honest no suction beats the Henry Vaccum cleaner . But as i said after 1 hour it gets the job done.
Ive got shaggy rugs in my home and it wont go over them . When it attempts to it gets jammed/stuck and beeps for help. It goes on flat rugs medium rugs just not shaggy rugs. So i STILL have to manually hoover my rugs.
Connect to alexa was so simple.. it was downloading the app on my (android) that gave the issue.. the robot brand has lots of different apps so be sure to download the 1 that says “HOME” in the title. after contacting customers service about this (very prompt reply) i realised the actual app for this robot is not currently available on Android but works on iphones.. so no i havnt got the app on my phone my partner has it on his iphone.. but….. i still control the robot through alexa and the remote..
And yes.. my partner has been out of the home and tried to scare us a few time by switching it on. Lol.
If u live on a 1 level home with very few furniture/ no rugs then this is you.
Bought this because we have a robot mop. Easy to use just set it off when j go for a dog walk all done by the time we get back. I cant watch it when it’s doing its the g the randomness to its journey upsets me. Does have a remote so if you wanted to you could guide it, not sure about the alexia bit yet not had time to have a real play with it, But it does the job and the spot clean option is great for where the dog lays picks up allot more than I expected. Moves from room to room with ease over the thresholds goes back to its station when it’s done great little gadget quite impressed.
But seems to run out of juice after just 40 mins of basic use on carpet.
It missed some dirty spots and I ended up sweeping up dust and even some larger items (like cheerios)… But then I opened the dustbin and noticed it was completely full to my amazement. When I went to purchase boundary strips for areas I want it to avoid (like our utility room which often has socks etc on the floor with the laundry) – I was disappointed to learn that this model does not have the functionality to use these strips – it only uses sensors and they only detect hard surfaces. I thought all Robot cleaners had this functionality.
all in all, quite satisfied considering this is one of the cheaper models.
I have set the timer to clean when I am at work. And when I get home the house is clean, and the vac.is back on its charging station, waiting for me to empty its bin so it can clean again tomorrow.
Get one ! You wont be disappointed !
Amazing how much it picks up and always finds it’s way back to its charger.
Climbed and cleaned the thickest rug with ease.
Cats love it.
Plus Alexa integration works great.
Price on offer was too good to miss 125
The Deebot has made our lives much easier. If you have guests round in 10 minutes then this isn’t the answer, but if you set this to work whilst out or at least whilst out the way of it, it is an amazing gadget. Even when used everyday, it picks up more and more dust – due to the fact in a typical clean it is passing an area multiple times in it’s efforts to cover all of your floor. The edge mode is brilliant, and you can’t help but watch it in amazement as it covers every edge of your floor!
Using the phone app, remote control or through Alexa – it is very easy and very cool. The Deebot makes very little noise compared to a normal vacuum cleaner, and even on our carpet – which is probably mid pile, it does a great job.
Highly recommended!!!!!
I received the Deebot promptly through Amazon Prime and immediately rushed to unpackage my new slave. The instructions were simple enough and Deebot was on charge within 10 minutes and fully charged within 2.5 hours.
Ready to roll, I moved all obvious obstructions from the floors which is an ongoing battle with two children who seem to drag their belongings around and through the house constantly. Deebot was off with the easy to set up and use phone app. He had a decent amount of suction, not quite as powerful as his competitor, Eufy…what did I expect though for the price difference. He’s done a good job and the edge function does exactly that. The only issue I’ve had is that my dog, Winston seems to see his masculine cleaning ability as a threat and likes to follow Deebot around barking, being obstructive and preventing Deebot from his duties. Poor Deebot. I found this amusing the first few times but now I’m getting concerned about Deebot’s mental well-being.
Winston is currently staring at him while he recharges his battery.
I’ve attached a video of Winston Big Balls. Any suggestions on making Deebot appear less threatening would be welcome!
Wow! This Device is amazing I only just received it but while I was setting up the app and connecting it to the WiFi/ Alexa and Google home, I let it have a little wander to get used to its new home. After a few minutes I press the Home button on the remote and he gracefully made his way back to the charging dock. We have a Beggle that sheds loads of hair everywhere, we had already vacuumed with our normal cleaner but when I opened the dust collector we was shocked to see how much dog hair our standard vac had missed. With up a 110 min run time I’m excited to see how much this will collect when he starts his daily clean routine, it will definitely be easier for us to keep on top the dog hair as who has time to vacuum every day anyways lol. By the way We’ve named him Dobby a welcome new member of our family.
Otherwise it does a perfectly good job in all other regards.
While its not the most powerful suction and needs to be emptied out after every couple of uses, that does balance out with being able to use it everyday, so for those of you who work or have super busy lives I highly recommend it. I’ve set it up so by the time we return home from work with the dog the house is already done.
It does take a while, infact it keeps going till its battery starts to give up so 2-3 hours. I have to pick up the front door mat as it gets stuck on that and the sheep skin rug for the dog, has caught the usb charger cable which it didnt like. Also my wifes knitting project was unravelled, she said it deserved a star knocked off for that.
You will have to go over once in a while and do a decent brush/hoover but still worth the money and not wasting precious couple/family time with house chores.
I bought a couple of these as they were 50% off and thought it’s worth giving them a go. To set the scene, I have thick light coloured carpets throughout the house and a long haired border collie who seems to drop more hair than a barber shop in a day.
It lasts on normal mode for about 1 hour and 20-30 minutes, enough for it to find its way thoroughly around each floor. It’s also surprisingly quiet, about on par with the noise of a small desk fan.
I have it scheduled once a day, every day. The collection bin is big enough to last 2 days before it could do with emptying but I’ve gotten into the habit of emptying it every day. I haven’t actually vaccumed for about 3 weeks and my mother remarked on how clean the carpet was which says a lot; she’s always getting a cloth out every time she visits to dust!
It does miss about 10mm around the skirting board but the side brushes collect any loose hair or dirt.
All in all I’ve gone from a house with floors that always seemed dirty to very clean now thanks to a couple of these bots. I would happily buy them at full price knowing how good they are!
It trundles rounds randomly and does a actually surprisingly good job considering its small size. I have two labradors and dog hair is an issue. It gets up dog hair from carpet and hard floors easily. Be aware that the collection bin is quite small so if you haven’t hoovered for a while it will fill up quickly.
It runs around randomly and if you leave the doors open it will find its way between rooms and can get over raised threshold bars and from hard floor onto rugs with ease.
It’s not as effective as using a Dyson but we tend to use this every few days in each room and then once a week give a proper going over with Dyson. But I think we only need to do that because of the two dogs.
It does well getting into corners as it has two brushes that sweep dust etc toward the suction area. Be aware though that these brushes are consumable items so will need replaced every so often (advice is 3-4 months but this should be longer in reality)
My favourite is asking my echo device to start hoovering when I go to bed and when I wake up the room is hoovered and the deebot is back charging itself – awesome!
Yes sometimes it gets stuck or something gets tangled in the brush (you have to check for cables etc on the floor) but if it does encounter a problem it beeps loudly to let you know.
All in all a great little Hoover. It’s not going to replace our full size Dyson but helps us keep on top of dog hair with no effort other than asking it to go clean!!
Well, what can I say about this little miracle?! I had always scoffed at the idea of these robotic vacuums and honestly did not think they could do a better job than me with my Henry vac. I have been proved wrong. I love Deebot! He scurries round the house picking up dust, hair, bits, everything in sight. He finds his own charging point automatically when he needs to recharge. You can set him just to go round the skirting boards, do a whole room, or put him on automatic mode and leave him to it. He doesn’t fall down the stairs, despite my worries that he might. You can even set a timer so that he cleans whilst you are out of the house. Emptying the dust container is easy, as is cleaning the brushes. I have long hair which tends to get wrapped around revolving brushes, but it is easy to remove my hair with the special tool provided. I cannot comment on how long he will last, but to be honest as I got him on an Amazon Daily Deal special offer, I’m not to worried if he doesn’t last for years. Deebot has a personality all of his own and really needs a set of googly eyes on him. Get one! You won’t regret it.
Early days with this so far, but I am very impressed with its suction power. My hopes were not very high I admit, but the floor is really clean after he’s been round and cleaned up.
It’s quite fun to watch, but he is (we call ours Darren) best left to it. You will see him go over & over & over some areas whilst totally ignoring others, left to it though he seems to cover the whole area you let him loose on.
They do advertise, as a feature, that he returns to base when he’s finished, or the battery is low. This is nonsense. When either of these things happen he simply stops cleaning & goes for a wander. Around half the time, quite by chance, he’ll stumble across the base charger. The other times he just gives up & stops after a bit.
Frustratingly if you manually control its route using the remote it doesn’t suck, just moves.
I had trouble setting it up to the app, but my children soon sorted, connecting to Alexa was easy enough after that.
Overall I’m very impressed with the cleaning power, but if you can’t bend down to pop it back on it’s charger when it inevitably forgets where it is, this isn’t for you.
This is a great little bot for the price. Cleans well, the suction is OK, picks up most of the dirt and cat hair. Has trouble if the pet hair is more ingrained into the carpet, misses that sometimes. The app works well – it takes a little time on initial setup for the wifi to be recognised, and if you switch the whole thing off for any reason then it takes quite a few mins for it to come back “online” with the wifi. But it does sort itself out eventually. For a small space, like my flat, edge mode works the best because it’s more systematic in its approach to finding its way around – automatic seems quite haphazard (especially when you have a lot of furniture for it to work around). But it still slowly finds its way around the house, bumping into things, and scaring my cat!
The integration with Alexa is useful; you have to enable the “Ecovacs Deebot” skill to link it up (which is not included in the instructions – I had to google to find out how to link it all up correctly). I just wish there were a few more specific voice commands you could use with Alexa, because it’s essentially “start cleaning” (Auto) and “return to base” (or “start charging”). I would like to be able to tell it to start “edge mode” directly, or select which mode you want when you set up a timer, etc. This additional help and functionality in the software would raise my rating to 5 stars.
Pro:
-Autonomy and power. More than one hour in standard mode and battery performance doesn’t decrease with time, which is a wow effect.
-Super easy to clean and big dust container.
-Controllable by both app (even abroad, I was running the bot in London from Italy) and remote control.
-Silent and schedulable! Autonomously coming back to the docking station when runs out of juice.
Cons:
-App software works well, but can be improved in features and cleaning reports.
Notes:
-Instructions report that the docking station needs a lot of space around it. That’s not particularly true, it just need to be ‘visible’ by the vacuum. Mine is in a corner behind two sofas, but the sofas are 30cm high from floor so they allow visibility between vacuum and dock station (infrared). So far never a problem.
-I suggested exactly this model to two other people, one of them with a two-floor house (the bot has anti-stairs sensor). Both of them super happy!
I seem to spend to much time having to supervise it. It sometimes misses whole areas even after an hour of work. I have a standard 3 bed house.
Often I end up moving it myself because it’s stuck or missing areas of floor. But only sometimes.
It claims to be able to find its own charge when the battery is low, but acts more like a child lost in a supermarket. It never finds its way without help.
I do like the edging mode. That hits all those hard to get areas.
I’d rather have an all singing all dancing one for over twice the money, but my budget restricted me to this.
So for my budget, it’s good. It vacuums. It’s a robot. But again there is just that feeling that I should do it myself.
It took me a long time to decide which robot hoover to buy as there is a large choice, I’m glad I chose this one. We have wooden floors downstairs and carpeted floors upstairs and this machine copes equally well with both. We have small children and this machine is great for picking up all kinds of debris from popcorn to biscuit crumbs, I am amazed at how much it collects. This machine is great value for money as it is WiFi enabled and can be controlled by either the included remote control or the WiFi app that is installed on an iPhone. I have tried the Alexa skill but unfortunately it doesn’t work too well, it understands start cleaning but does not understand the command for returning to base. That said i usually just start the clean cycle from my phone as I leave or by just pressing the button on the top of the unit. The unit is very robust, my 1 year old is obsessed with it and keeps sitting on it, the hoover still goes round doing it’s job with him sat on the top! It is good at avoiding obstacles and goes around most things such as kids toys. Socks and small items will get caught up and cause it to stop and beep until the blockage is cleared. The hoover is easy to empty and clean out and the brushes and filters last a long time before needing to be replaced. Very good value for money, should this break I would definitely buy the same one again.
I have a large 5 bed steading conversion with a family of 7. No dogs inside but we have long haired cats. The suction is surprisingly good for something so small. Works with cat hair on hard surfaces and carpet. Cleans up general young child mess. Biscuit and crisp crumbs. It even coped with dried up mud off the hard floor.
It can’t clean my whole house in one charge, but I do have a large and long house. I would say it goes for around an hour. I’ve not actually paid attention to exact times. It has 2 levels of suction. You need to change to max power using the app for the auto mode. I find the edges setting very effective. You can locate it using the app to make it beep at you. Handy if he goes under the bed or such like. He doesn’t even fall off the stairs. Although the manual says to stay with it initially incase it doesn’t sense it correctly.
It’s changed my life. I can clean while it hoovers. Cut my workload in half. Very good value for money. I wouldn’t bother with a more expensive one this one does the treat. I got it on offer at 155 so was very happy.
Bought this on an Amazon deal wondering if I really needed it, but was very quickly convinced! I’m astounded how much it picks up every day. I have a very fluffy cat and this has made a very visible difference.
It gets itself out of most tight corners, loves to try to guzzle up any dangling wires, isn’t amazing at cleaning right into corners but somehow manages to keep my place noticeably clean. I usually stop it after about an hour so there is way more battery life than I need, the app is a little pointless as the remote works just fine, but it’s there if you want it. It’s quick to empty and clean, the little tool that comes with it for this purpose is very handy.
It isn’t a total replacement for a vacuum cleaner but it definitely makes the regular vacuuming a very quick and infrequent job, and makes walking around barefoot far more pleasant, and unexpected guests far less stressful (not stray cat hair balls rolling around)!
I have a Lab Retriever & the amount of hair he sheds everyday. This vacuum has no problem sucking the sand & hair he leaves behind on my laminate & Carpet.
The quick guide instructions are easy to follow to get you started. You just need to leave it charging for 4 hours for the first time.
To empty, is very simple. Just pulls out from the front & button to release.
Most important, parts are reasonably cheap to purchase off amazon for this device.
Highly recommend.
To say I am impressed is an understatement, I use it daily and the dust it collects is unbelievable. The best feature Has to be the app on your mobile phone. Not only can you control the vacuum but it tells you the usage percentage of the bristles and roller.
Percy (that is what the wife has named him ) is now one of the family and I wouldn’t buy anything else.
If you are looking for a robotic vacuum and like me is very unsure on which one to purchase.. seriously this is unbelievable!
I’ve had a robot vac before, 5 or 6 years ago. It was rubbish. It cost 500. I sent it back.
This one is brilliant.
I used the app to quickly programme a daily vac at lunchtime. And every lunch it comes out for 100 minutes randomly going in and out of rooms. 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a combined kitchen living room and dining room all get a clean every day. The whole house is on one floor and wooden floors with rugs everywhere.
Can it go into tight corners? no, but it does everything else in a random but effective way.
It’s not silent, quieter than a big hoover, but it’s quiet enough.
The cat regards it with absolute astonishment.
After every session I empty it and marvel at how much dust, hair and general mess there is.
One thing it struggles with – Tassels on rugs. So I’m going to tape them down under the rug, so it doesn’t have a fit as it tries to unwind itself every time it get tangled up in them.
Oh and it has a habit of closing the main bathroom door on itself, so I’ve propped it open with a door stay.
For 180 I am delighted, every home should have one. 100% recommended.
Update after 7 months.
Still love it.
The spinning wiper fronds eventually distort and don’t stick out as much… easy fix, use a hairdryer on them and mould them back out. Works a treat.
Cat and dog now don’t notice it.
Visitors marvel at it.
Go buy one.
I’ve only just received this Robot so it’s early days, however I must say so far so good and it has plenty of suction power, appears to do what it says on the tin and seems quite robust and well made.
I have tried it on our lounge carpet which is fairly new and therefore the pile is still fairly upright – it’s not a particularly deep pile, probably an average sort of depth but certainly much thicker than carpet tiles and the Deebot negotiated it no problem, doing a very good job of shifting pet hair, crumbs etc, in fact I was amazed how full the bin was after about 15mins or so.
Deebot is fairly quiet in operation and I left it trundling happily around the lounge whilst I was watching the TV and it wasn’t overly distracting, and from upstairs you can’t hear it much at all.
I think that for the price this is an extremely good machine – however there are a few things that need to be understood. The Deebot uses Infra Red to avoid obstacles and this seems to work very well most of the time, but it does not seem to like darkened rooms with dark colours as we have one room which is quite dark and the Deebot appears to get a bit confused as to where it is whilst in there, and even if you put the dock right in front of it, it takes time to find it.
Put the Deebot in a well lit room and it has no issues negotiating around nor finding the charger either – providing you keep the plastic lens around the front clean as this is the Infra Red window and this does tend to get dirty and covered in hair and fluff, mostly due to static electricity so needs to be kept clean or the Deebot will start bumping into things, but I think that this behaviour is true for many robotic cleaners and something you have to allow for – Ecovacs suggest that you prepare the room prior to cleaning and this means removing any obvious obstacles that could tangle or trap the Deebot, which makes sense and will give more successful autonomous cleaning.
To summarise so far I think the Deebot was a good choice, for the price it has good performance and cleans very well, is reasonably quiet and has a good battery life, negotiates a wide variety of floors including medium pile carpets and manages to climb onto rugs, mats etc without issues. There is also an app and it works with Alexa no problem.
It is important to keep the Deebot clean though – after each use empty the bin and clean any tangled hair etc off the brush, I have a soft paintbrush which I use to sweep out the bin and clean all the nooks and crannies under the unit, this is an important step and should not be neglected if you want good results.
I will add updates later once I’ve had more time to evaluate the unit, but my initial thoughts are that it could be a winner!
UPDATE!!!! – I’ve now put the Deebot through a few trials in various rooms and I must say how delighted I am with it – it’s very quiet and does a good cleaning job – I’m amazed at how well it gets into the corners and in edge cleaning mode it’s a joy to watch as it follows the contours of the room at just the right space to allow the brushes to sweep right up to the skirting boards. I’ve just ordered a set of spare filters etc from Amazon, although these are not needed yet by any means but I thought I would get some anyway.
As I said in my earlier review, keeping the Deebot clean is the key to good results and I empty the bin after each use and clean the brush which in our house gets full of pet hairs. A quick tip to cleaning the brush in seconds is to use a pet comb which lifts out the embedded fluff easily without damaging the bristles etc and if you have pets you might already have one.
So it’s a big thumbs up for the Deebot N79S from me and I thoroughly recommend this product.
+ It is surprisingly thorough and although it takes a long time to cover the ground floor of my quite large house it does seem to manage to find all bits when I leave it to do the hall, dining room, lounge, downstairs loo and kitchen. I just leave all the doors open and leave it to it.
+ The amount of dust that it finds after I’ve done the job with a proper upright vacuum cleaner is really surprising.
– I’ve not been able to get the app to work from my phone. It keeps grumbling that I have 5GHz and says that it doesn’t work with 5GHz, I know that I could disable 5GHz on the router but I am a bit reluctant to do that since it will probably have some unforeseen consequence.
I really didn’t expect this vacuum to be any good or to actually have any impact on my life, but it most certainly has.
We work all week, often late, and have a 8 month old daughter who is beginning to crawl and spend lots of time on the floor. We also have a cat that seems to find her way into every room no matter what. Finding time to hoover and do all of the cleaning on an evening or at the weekend was tough. It sounds pathetic, but hoovering is one of those mundane annoying jobs that no one wants to do after a long week of work. Don’t get me wrong, you will still use your plug in vacuum to hoover the stairs, sofas or anything up high. Until these vacuums develop arms then you can’t expect to get rid of your upright anytime in the near future.
This vacuum has superb suction, battery and functionality. I expected this to maybe pick up the occasional crumb or small bits of dirt but found that it picks up much, much more than that. All of the car fur is gone, all of the litter that the cat manages to empty out on to the laminate floor is gone. Crumbs, hairs, paper, bits and bobs – all gone. Carpet, laminate and tiles are all easily vacuumed.
I did a deep hoover the day before receiving this and didn’t expect the robot to find much remaining dirt. I was wrong! The compartment was pretty full of bits and dust that my plug in vacuum evidently missed. Either that or you don’t quite realise how much mess and dust can appear in one day. And no one wants to get the big hoover out every day! Surely! With Deebot you can set a schedule for however many times you want it to vacuum a week and forget about it. You can hoover several times a day with this if you really wanted. Sit back and relax and let Deebot take care of it.
Spend more time in your life doing good things, being with family and friends, rather than hours hoovering every week.
Battery is brilliant – I don’t even use half on my 3 bed house. That’s up and downstairs. Deebot always finds its way back to the charger too.
General maintenence of the robot is easy and quick too and emptying the mess is simple. Easy to connect to WiFi and Alexa. To be honest I don’t have anything bad to say about this. It could do with room mapping but for the price I wouldn’t expect that at all. The app is good too and the remote is easy to use.
If you are cautious about making the move to a robot vacuum, give this a go. My thinking was that “if its no good, I’ll send it back”. No need. You will definitely not be sending this back.
Take the punt and enjoy the extra free time you have thanks to Deebot.
I’m the Vac Man in our house. My arsenal includes a dysan Mains and a Rechargeable Vac. All very nice. But I. Capital I….:have to plug them in. Push them around etc etc. Enter the Deebot N79S. Easy to set up. I had a suitable “Base” for it, where it can retreat to and Charge itself. Already, after just 48 hours. It’s my friend. Initially after a nights charge I set it off on “Auto”, downstairs. We have hard flooring through-out with a shag pile Rug in the Lounge. I decided to watch over my little helpers first foray. Even though it insisted on cleaning the Rug, more times than I thought was required. It did brilliantly. Slowed down, but persevered. That won it a Gold Star! It trekked off into our Hall and Kitchen. Taking a very erratic un-conventional approach Cleaning said area. It refused to fall over the edge of the step down to our front door. Another Gold Star. It was more and more, proving to be a great asset. I did wonder just how long it would continue in it’s quest to clean our whole Ground floor area. After 40 minutes. I stopped it to check out it’s collection Tray. It was full of grit and dust! I decided some R and R was due for my new Helper.
Day two. Alexa enters the broader picture. She can control Deebot. Now named Doris! I had also programmed, using the Remote Control a 2pm Timegate for Doris to start her work. BUT. Decided that Alexa could intervene at 11 am. She set Doris off without second thoughts!! Doris, this time, came to grief in the Shag Pile carpet. She bleeped for help. I lifted her off, and off she went. Laughing and smiling. I was too!! The only problem I had with Alexa, was with the sending Deebot to its Charger. I’ve discovered that Alexa will STOP Deebot, without a problem. But cannot comprehend sending Deebot to it Base for charging. So. I tell Alexa to STOP Deebot. When Doris has stopped. Alexa will then send her back to charge up. Simples. I’m so pleased with my new found HELPER!! PS. I have got a life after Doris. LOL
He has his flaws but not many I may add.. He does like to fall into the foot well near the door this is only a drop off an inch so his sensors may not pick this up as its not significant enough.. Sometimes he struggles to find his way home to charge but its so funny to watch even this is a good thing.
Basically I love it
Missus hates it
So it’s a massive YES from me.. Buy one now
April 28 2019 EDIT: Since buying this last December my missus has since left me as she could not handle my new found love for Deebot and jealousy took over.. Deebot as always hasn’t let me down and still loves to clean with no issues.. Wish it could cook and clean too but I guess I’m going to have to learn that for myself.. At least Deebot is loyal
It was really easy to set up and use and is surprisingly efficient at picking up dust and dirt. The first use picked up a LOT of hair that I had to get off the brush but this was easy to do with the supplied tool. The brush just pops out and is simple to remove and replace. The dirt compartment is also easy to empty and I couldn’t believe how much it picked up! You may need to empty it after every day of use but that is because it collects so much! It is easy enough to do which means it is no problem.
The app is working great – I have been sat at work, started the robot and can see later he has made it back safely to his home. The base position needed adjusting slightly – for now I’ve angled it so the line of sight is easier to pick up, but this is only because I’ve left boxes around that are in the way while we are decorating.
I saw a note that this doesn’t support Google Home but this is incorrect – it works great! I say “Hey Google, start cleaning” and off it goes! You just need to add your Ecovacs account to your Google Assistant account once set up and off you go.
While it doesn’t pick up ground-in stains (you shouldn’t expect it to), it has done well on dried mud (that our dog sometimes brings in), dust and particles – we are very impressed. It even goes under beds and sideboards with ease and from room to room with no bother. Just make sure your doors are fully open so it can’t get behind to close himself in.
A brilliant buy. Carpets are looking great! And one less job for me to do!
I keep a tidy house but was shocked to see what this can pick up.
Highly recommended and works a treat with Alexa and voice commands.
Can’t be added as a device in the amazon Alexa app which is a shame as would have liked it to activate with my goodnight command.
I’ve used the scheduling service to counter act this.
The maintenance seems a bit full on and there are a fare few parts to change ranging from 4 months to a year.
The auto function will set it away and at some points the Deebot has spent an excessive amount of time hoovering a corner, but eventually it comes out and cracks on with the rest of the house.
Would recommend and glad I caught it in the flash sale.
My cousin has a Eufy and my best friend has an iRobot. Their experiences were both mixed. Overall the robots were convenient, but had their fair share of problems. Suffice it to say, I still wanted to get a robot vacuum cleaner and decided to try Ecovacs. I see online this is the dominant brand in China (maybe Asia?) and a top seller on Amazon UK.
So far I’m really pleased with it. I haven’t had as many problems as my cousin or friend have had even though our flats are similar (lot of hardwood floors and furniture to clean under).
So far its worked fine for me, though I mainly use it with Alexa since that’s more convenient.
Unless anything happens, I give it two thumbs up. Well worth the money!
