Easy to use, good cut and long power cable. Discounted price and very quick delivery made the purchase even better. Would happily recommend this chainsaw.

Easy to assemble, stops immediately you let the button go and more powerful than expected for an electric saw.

The Chainsaw arrived promptly. I put it together without much difficulty. Have used it a couple of times and it works really well. It is a bit heavier than the one it replaced, so if weight is and issue you should check that it will suit you in that regard.

Really powerful and fit for purpose. Tackled trunks over 250mm diameter … but is heavy as would be expected.

It performed extremely well. Cut through hard and medium wood with ease. The motor did not labour whilst I was cutting. Would recommend it.
It was a bargain price, its just a shame we had to wait 3 months for Amazon to get them in stock again.

Does what it says on the box

The saw works, it appears to have the requisite safety features but it has three limitations. First, it’s impossible to see the chain oil level. With a petrol driven saw you top up oil and petrol at the same time but with this you could easily use it for two minutes or for an hour. Second, time will tell but the plastic construction does not seem very sturdy. Three, the chain needs tensioning “all the time.” But it was certainly cheap.

Gotta say,I bought this based on good reviews and I was not disappointed…I have used it for days, tree trimming and generally cutting a lot of wood and logs etc…I also used to deeply score some large old tree stumps for removal…stayed sharp for a long time but could now do with being sharpened, nevertheless,it will still cut…I recommend buying some good chainsaw/Bar oil before use as it does not come supplied with product and you will need it…Highly recommended for the price…

    Update:
This saw is still running well after several weeks of almost daily use and now on its third chain. The only problem is the chain stop mechanism. When you take your finger off the trigger the chain stops instantly. This is really good security. However, this seems to have broken internally and the chain carries on spinning for several seconds as with most other chainsaws. This is a pity. Einhell’s technical web site seems to be closed as I would order the part if available and fit it myself.

Compared with the Black and Decker that our gardener has, this is a proper tool. It has several refinements over all makes I have used, noticeably the fact the blade stops instantly your finger is off the trigger. Also very good is the master cut-out (just nudge the lever forward with the knuckles of your left hand), ease of assembly and disassembly (if the chain comes off), lack of kick-back, generous length of good quality cable, cable loop to take the stress off the cable entry point into the saw, and wheel adjustment to keep the tension exactly right. It has had a punishing week felling and cutting trees with sap rising (yes, I know it is late in the Spring to be doing this). The huge leylandii are the only trees around the property that slowed the chainsaw a whisker in operation, otherwise it has gone through everything like the proverbial knife through butter. It has matched the gardener’s large petrol-driven chainsaw when we have been alongside each other cutting up the same felled trunk, though this may be mostly because the Einhell is new and the blade sharp. It is a touch heavy when holding it above your head but this is also reassuring. What a surprise to order it on a Wednesday afternoon and it to arrive (from Germany, I believe) the following morning at 07.30. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’ve only been using this mains electric chainsaw for a few days. I can compare it with a petrol chainsaw I have had for a couple of years and which cost around six times more than this electric saw from Einhell. First impressions are that I wonder why anyone would spend a lot more money for a petrol powered model which doesn’t do anything different or better than this one does. The answer comes down to portability. A mains electric saw will only work when it’s plugged in whereas a petrol powered machine will work anywhere. Whilst this is undoubtedly a significant benefit of petrol powered machines, it is only pertinent if the work needing done is beyond the scope of the extension cable you possess. I’m in the fortunate position of owning a 2000 watt petrol powered generator, so that the distance to the nearest mains socket isn’t an issue. A particular benefit of this Einhell electric saw is that it has an automatic chain brake so that unlike it’s petrol powered equivalent in which the chain powers down gradually after the trigger is released, this saw chain stops moving the instant you take your finger off the trigger and makes it significantly less likely that you might accidentally sever a limb whilst using it! If I had known about this machine when I spent an arm and a leg buying my petrol powered machine, I would have bought this instead and kept something in excess of 300 in my pocket. How durable it will prove to be remains to be seen, but if it lasts a year, I would happily buy another one.

UPDATE. The item pictured has a connection joint on the cable probably as a safety feature, the one I received is wired straight through to the plug just be aware of this. It in no way affects the workings of the saw.

I don’t know why this has gone up so much in price since I recently bought mine here for 49.96 plus 4 postage, as I think it is only worth the price I paid for it. It was not very powerful, but sufficient to cut my trees down. But I went for this while it was cheap as I may never use it again. But I would advise you to read the instructions before using it, like filling it’s tank with chainsaw oil before connecting it to the mains, if like me, you are a chainsaw novice. I found it tricky to fit together at first, but I got there. The hole in the metal part of the saw (that the chain goes round) has to fit over a small black knob connected to the red tightening wheel before tightening the chain with the wheel, before screwing the black cover over that part.

After only using petrol chain saws before, I was a little apprehensive about the ability of an electric saw. Having said that, there is no reason an electric motor can’t generate the power a petrol one can! Although I gave 5 stars for ease of assembly, I did have a few minute fiddling with the chain and blade, nothing too dire though!
As for the use – ok, you can’t wander off into the woods withit, but it cuts every bit as good as my petrol saw. Excellent performance, and for those that say the chain didn’t last long, I have cut well over 100 logs so far with no hint of fading – I can only assume the tension wasn’t quite as it should have been for the others. Definitely recommended. Slightly heavy on the oil…

This is a powerful chainsaw and excellent value for money, however, the problem with mine is oil flow, it does not appear to be getting onto the blade. I have now asked Einhell UK 3 times, once by phone, did not know the answer, twice by email, both unanswered. The manual is far from clear, if the oil fails to come through and the cutter packs up that would not be my fault.

I was actually dreading receiving and using one of these things. not particularly this model but ANY chainsaw as i have seen and read about too many horrors and accidents with them etc.

I was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable and easy to use size of this one, plus the fact it is corded and consequently very quiet as opposed to a powerful noisy petrol one.
After fitting the chain which is badly concealed in some very silly and unnecessary packaging, I found the thing very effective, and felt a little silly standing there in all my new and specially bought chain saw protective clothing, mask and Armoured boots. as it was a lot easier and safer to use than any monstrus petrol ones id seen.

The way the chain halts instantly you release the trigger, the way the thing will not run unless the guard is down, and the shortness of the blade helps a lot.
The only criticism would be it did feel a little heavy after an hour, but at my age i guess that’s normal. overall 4 out of 5 due to the weight, as i think with a little better design or lighter materials in some places it could be lighter?

I bought on sale and was a bit sceptical of the quality. Well don’t worry. I used to cut a very large tree down and into pieces and it was great. I have never used a chainsaw before. Easy setup. great item and amazing value for what I paid.

  45. JeffreyIgnacio says:

Well, can I just start with the set up of this chainsaw, incredibly easy with no other tools required, just your nimble fingers? I have owned chainsaws previously and found the requirement for constant adjustment an absolute pain in the backside constantly stopping to go find the spanners/screwdrivers to remove various pieces before tightening up the chain. to repeat the process 15 minutes later.
I know many products come with tool Less adjustment but at this price and this quality level, I would be happy to recommend this to everyone who is not bothered about being tethered to a power supply, I did not want the hassle of petrol cans keeping fuel around. if I need to work all day then I can. you will instantly feel the quality without making the unit too cumbersome and heavy. just make sure you keep the chain reservoir from running dry which is very easy to identify through the oil level indicator.
definitely, one to look at if you have not already I doubt you will find an alternative of this quality at this price.

I love this chainsaw, struggled a bit to put the chain on but I do find I’m not good at that! Did it though and using this product is easy. I have used a petrol one before which was 4 x the price I found it so heavy it was difficult to use. Especially starting which I found worst than a gym session! This on the other hand is superb and for me a woman, ideal! I’ve cut down some fairly big trees and the price was a third of the quote for some one else to do the job and of course i still have the chainsaw … win, win.

I was happy to buy this at 74, but when I came to order it, it had been reduced to 50.98 – fantastic!
First time I’ve used a chainsaw, so actually read the instructions. Found no problem in assembling it, and though not light, was well balanced. Very happy with the performance, but with no previous experience to judge it by. Used it to cut up an old apple tree, and some very hard old yew, after which it needed sharpening – not too difficult after watching some Youtube vids, and the purchase of some 4mm files.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI had a very large pine cut down professionally in the garden and wanted a chain saw to cut up the trunk for my woodburner. I have used a petrol chainsaw before and thought I would try an electric one this time. It arrived quickly and I assembled it within ten minutes.
It has a nice long cable and the ease of chain tightening is a dream. A cover can be removed easily when sawdust accumulates on the chain oil inside. The best thing about it for Me was the fact that when you take your finger off the trigger the chain stops immediately. Been using it a few weeks on and off now with no problems. It cuts through the pine trunk like a hot knife thru butter- i love it!

Works well and adjustment is super easy with no tools needed – don’t underestimate the convenience of this feature. Previous reviews have indicated the adjuster thumbwheel is flimsy – yes it isn’t the best but I reckon it will be ok. Golden Review Award: 57 From Our UsersBought primarily for cutting logs for wood burner. The saw is easy to assemble and feels solid and well made. It has a nice safety feature in that the chain stops rotating as soon as the trigger is released: previous saws I’ve owned continue to rotate for a few seconds after stopping cutting. I’ve owned this for around 9 months now and used it on both new wood and dried wood. The Oregon chain has performed well so far but obviously requires occasional sharpening to keep it cutting effectively. I’ve used it on logs up to 12″ diameter and for around 1hr maximum use at a time. It’s important to keep the chain oil topped up and though there is a sight glass I find it difficult to see the level through it in some light conditions so resort to unscrewing the top of the oil chamber. Fortunately the top has a retainer to prevent dropping or losing it. I’d say the saw is ideal for occasional light use cutting logs for firewood, it’s a lot lighter, quieter and cleaner than a petrol engine saw and I’ve found it powerful enough for my purpose. I’ve no idea what the longevity of the saw will be but at this price even if I had to replace it every 2 years I’d still consider it an excellent buy. I haven’t needed to replace the chain yet but they’re readily available and inexpensive. All in all I’ve been very happy with this purchase.

Ok as a basic shredder, though not enough power to shred rose branches without clogging (perhaps these are too moist for it). Easy to open to clear and clean, wheels are handy, the bag is surprisingly big enough and gets heavy when full. Does shred finely

First time I have purchased a chain saw – went for electric as ease of use(no need to buy special fuel and easy to start)
Good points – Strong cut tree branches (6 inches width) like butter. Comes with 6 m cable – so expect to buy an extension cable if cutting real trees in garden (others have less than 6 m)
    East yo carry and use
    Has sufficient safety
    Improvement points
As aiming for the domestic market – Need better installation instructions – as I first put the chain on in the wrong direction (so the saw burnt the wood rather than cutting it) – Would recommend a lower level IKEA type of getting started instructions
Emphasise as with all chain saws the need for oil
    Happy Cutting

Baught this for a elderly neighbour friend who has a log burner and occasionally uses a chainsaw as well as a circular saw. He had a petrol one but struggled with the weight of it aswell as struggling to start it. This one is perfect as plus and play, also the it is light weight with enough power to do the job. Very quiet compared to a petrol chainsaw.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersDelivered promptly and well packaged. The chain was a bit fiddly to disentangle in order to fir but other than this the assembly was straight forward. I’ve used 15/40 oil and this seems to be fine with operation too date. Initial impressions after using on a leylandii hedge were very good. A lot quieter than I thought it would be and it was very effective making short work of reducing the height which was too much for an ordinary hedge trimmer. So far very impressed, good value for money.

Took about 2 minutes to prepare it for use. I used it to cut up a pile of tree branches, some up to 6 inches or more thickness. Went through them like a hot knife through butter, but then, you’d expect that from a brand new chainsaw! Easy and light to use. Good chain brake. Good length of electrical cable (5 metres). Pretty quiet in operation. Happy buyer!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersVery solid piece of kit. Cannot see any obvious design flaws or defects in manufacture so far.
Quite easy to put the excellent Oregon chain on and the wheel tensioner works well. So quite easy to put together and you really do not need any tools to do so, unlike every other chain saw I have had.
Operating is good as well, albeit a little heavy. The new chain cut right through a 12in newly cut cherry tree log with no problems at all. Chain stops immediately the power button is released and the saw holds the chain in tension very well. Only drawback at the moment is that this saw absolutely guzzles chain oil. The manual states that a tank of oil will last about 15 minutes depending on the number of pauses in cutting. From my brief experience, I think that it is very optimistic.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI’ve been looking for a chainsaw for ages but only need it for DIY, I picked this one as I know the make is decent enough and it has a 2 year guarantee. When it arrived I opened it and was able to put it together very easily in about 2 to 3 mins, it also has a good long lead on it. I filled the oil tank up (don’t forget to order chainsaw oil as well) it doesn’t use a big amount so for just Occasional use you don’t need a big container. I was then able to use it straight away and I loved it. Just be very careful when using it remember what it can do if your not careful and you will be fine. I found the noise wasn’t to bad but I did wear eye protection as I wear glasses and don’t what to damage them. Remember there is a lot of wood chipping so be aware where you use it. It one of the best bond tools I’ve ever bought and saves me so much time rather than using a hand saw or even an electric saw. It’s the right tool for the job. Totally recommend it.

We’ve had this Chainsaw a few months now..used to bring down a She’d & Chicken Shed &it’s performed very well in aiding, it cut through the thick wood easily..as first time Chainsaw users it.was daunting at first but it’s been great..had a bit of a fiddle getting the chain to sit right at first but I think it’s because we’re novices…all good now & would recommend
Price is very reasonable & delivery had no problems

Cuts nicely when sharp but uses a lot of oil. Very good braking mechanism! Feels nice and safe to use! Great for medium size branches (9 to 12 inches). Easy to replace and tension the blade. Good value for 65!

So pleased with the saw and more powerful than expected. Down side was that it took a while to find the assembly details but otherwise it looks well made and certainly has no problem with birch logs of 8 inch diamete

Golden Review Award: 33 From Our UsersThis saw made v easy work cutting through my logs. Most of them 19cms thick. It only used a quarter of a litre of oil to chop up about 2 tonnes of wood. It’s also nice and light. Great value for money. I was also surprised at how quiet it was.

    Wow

I have a small garden with a dead tree with a 26cm trunk and about 7.5m tall. It is also quite hard. 10 minutes to bring it all down with some trimming. Maybe 10 mins more work! Really works fast and easily and not too heavy. Not quite a hot knife through butter, that is asking too much, but very close.
    Excellent product and value.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersMy best purchase of the year so far. I was hoping the saw would be as good as the reviews suggested and was reassured that the bar and the chain were both Oregon (which I know to be a really good brand and replacements are readily available). I have to say it has surpassed my expectations by a good margin. It cuts well as you would hope but it is the thought that has gone into the design which really impressed me. The chain oil tank is clear plastic so you can easily see when the tank needs topping up (much better than my old Stihl). The chain on any chain saw expands and contracts with the heat and so it was brilliant to have the simple tool less method of quickly tightening the chain when warm (expanded) and to loosen when finished to allow the chain to contract without strain on the links. At 2000 Watt the saw costs about 30p in electric per hour to run constantly which is a steel compared to the work it can do. Far cheaper than petrol. The final bonus is that the machine is so quiet despite it’s power. The only negative is the fact that you need a socket relatively nearby and have a cable trailing out behind. Not an option for a professional felling trees but if you want a saw to use in the garden for logs and modest pruning/felling etc then I cannot recommend the saw highly enough. Well done to Einhell and Amazon.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersGood quality piece of kit. I was able to cut down a copper beech tree with it in a few hours. It would not cut through the stump with going blunt (stump is 50 to 60 centimetres across). I think it’s fine to chop up to a ruler length in diameter. It cut through 15 cm (thigh width) logs with ease. Branches the width of my arm it went through in a couple of seconds. It went through almost a bottle of oil in the day I used it.

Negatives: chain was fiddly to fit (anf I’ve used a chain saw before) and the instructions were not clear. Also, if you get it wrong and it comes off, it will chew the plastic guard. This isn’t helped by a cgain tensioner that feels cheap and is hard to use (gets very hard to turn when it’s getting tight). Fairly heavy. Packaging it came in looked second hand, but it was just poorly sellotaped up.

Saved me calling a tree surgeon and I’ve got it to do up logs and wood for the future.

Golden Review Award: 44 From Our UsersChainsaw novice, first time user, no instructions with mine so took a bit of time to get the chain guard off, not obvious, but got there in the end, chain dead easy to fit, check you have it round the right way, a tree surgeon guided me on that score (friend) and then wow, it cuts like a knife thru butter, very powerful, although it uses oil quite fast, and thats not cheap, found the safety features very reassuring, let the button go, it stops, and the guard wont let it start until you,ve pushed it, so no chance of it starting while carrying for instance, one downside to the whole product is the chain tightener wheel, its quite stiff and feels flimsy, especially when retightening during use, but overall I,m very pleased with this and would reccomend, especially at this price, dont forget to let the tensioner out when you,ve finished, as the chain contracts as it cools, at the end of the day its a German product, so I expect it will last, especially as I wont be using it very often, as I said very pleased.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI am very really with this hedge-cutter. I am a woman in her seventies and find this is sturdy enough to do some serious trimming and yet not too heavy for me, although it is not meant to be a light-weight piece of equipment considering the job it does.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersEasy to build, easy to use (cutting old 8″ balcony uprights) but after 4 or 5 cuts the chain is blunt. Have ordered a couple more but may try stihl chain if same thing happens. Maybe just down to thickness of timber and the heat it created I guess. Sliced through 1.5″ like butter.

I bought this to chop down a rather large conifer.

I spent some time trying to decide whether to go for a petrol model or electric, and this came out top in the electric models when I compared performance, quality and price.

The pros/cons of a petrol model are:
    1) More powerful (pro or con depending on your perspective)
    2) Heavier/noisier
    3) Require more maintenance
    4) Due to the increased power, can have a longer cutter.

I decided that currently and in the foreseeable future, I didn’t need the power/length of a petrol model – note that even with a shorter cutter, you can still take down larger trunks – it just takes a lot longer!

Anyway – I plumped for electric and this model and it did the job very well indeed.

The only small issue I had with it was I had to tighten the chain quite often as it slipped, but this could simply be my usage.

It had no problem chewing through 8″ trunks.

I bought this nearly 4 months ago, and having in the past bought rubbish electric saws by Bosch and Maquita I deliberately did not write a review until I had given it a thorough workout. It`s fine. I buy my firewood in 2 ton loads of tree trunks (up to 12inches thick) which I cut up myself, and so far the saw has coped easily with a load of sycamore and a load of oak and done enough work for the blade to need resharpening four times. I can thoroughly recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this for my husband for Christmas. He says it works well but haven’t tried it myself (yet). We’re both in our sixties so we didn’t want anything to heavy. This fits the bill perfectly. Ideal for someone who (like us) doesn’t have rippling muscles. lol

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a beast. It’s so robust it slightly scares me. I still think I’m about to lop my own foot off every time I use it. My wife looks on in fear, white as a sheet, every time I amble into the garden and start chopping large logs up for firewood. I can’t believe you can buy an actual chainsaw for 80-odd quid.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersA previous review stated that the saw was blunt. All I can think is that the purchaser must have put the chain on the wrong way round. This is easy to do, I did this myself at first assembly, but checked the instructions and diagrams and corrected my error before use.I tightened the chain several times during use as advised and loosened it at the end when finished. This is an excellent product and cuts with ease. I have just been cutting back some trees in my garden, some with branches around 9″ thick. The Einhell chainsaw made light work of them and I would recommend this saw to anyone for occasional domestic use. The safety feature, which makes the chain stop immediately as it should when the switch is deactivated works perfectly. I cannot say how it might perform if used commercially, but I used it for about 2 hours almost continuously and was delighted by its performance.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersPurchased August 2016 as a replacement for 1800w electric Makita saw that had seen out is 20yr lifespan cutting firewood. For under 70 I was not expecting anything fantastic, but must say I was pleasantly surprised at what arrived.

If you have experience with chainsaws then it is less than a 5min job to put together, if not grab a cuppa, read the instructions, and when you do assemble it; make sure the chain is the right way round (look at the chain from above – the chisel of the teeth should point to the tip of the saw).
Fill it with chain oil, be aware this is not supplied so order some to arrive with your saw, do not be tempted to use anything other than chainsaw oil or you will balls your saw up quicker than you could imagine!!

Tighten the chain so that when you pull the chain away from the bar, the guide teeth JUST remain in the groove of the bar. The included guide does show this for you. As you use the saw the chain will get hot and stretch, so check this after the first few cuts and then periodically. The tensioning wheel/mechanism feels a little flimsy but; having used for a while it seems to do the job admirably. Also remember that once you have finished cutting to loosen the chain, because as it cools it will shrink so this will prevent damage.

The supplied bar and chain are of a good quality by a market leading brand (Oregon). Not the best they do but adequate for occasional home use. Plenty of meat on the cutting edges to sharpen. If you intend to use this saw on a heavier duty/regular basis then you will probably want to have a backup bar and chain to hand. That said for occasional use the supplied items are perfectly fine – I have used weekly for 3 months cutting appx 5 cubic metres of firewood for winter and I am nearing the end of life for the original chain.

Oil consumption is far superior to any saw I have owned in the past, one full tank lasts me approximately 45mins to an hour of cutting (old pallets, ply, chipboard kitchen units, up to 6″ diameter logs of varying types)

No faults have occurred with this saw over the first 3 months of regular use, nothing broken as others have reported, both the automatic (release of trigger) and emergency chain brakes have operated as required. The tool free functioning saves hassle too – no need for additional spanners or screwdrivers for routine maintenance or dismantling for end of session cleaning.

I have also found the balance/weighting of the saw good for longer cutting sessions & haven’t suffered fatigue in wrists etc as I have done with other saws. Also by using the motor casing as a sight/guide I find this cuts a suitable length to fit in my woodburner!

All in all for a saw that cost under 70 I can recommend as a good buy. It would have been nice for the feel of the adjuster to be a bit sturdier and for at least some chain oil to have been included but this certainly does not take away from giving a 5 star rating.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI hope – 5 stars isn’t too strong but since receiving this a couple of weeks ago this has done bvery well – it’s easy to maintain and easier to put together than I expected. I use it to cut up softwood for the wood burner and it does this effectively and most importantly – safely. I wouldn’t fancy using it to cut up hardwood but for my purposes it’s brilliant. – Tip – it doesn’t come with chainsaw oil, so get some.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSo far so good. It’s powerful, not unduly noisy and seems fairly solidly constructed. The weak point in all these cheaper chainsaws is the chain tightening mechanism. This chainsaw has a thumb wheel which turns a threaded bar to to adjust the length and thus the tightness of the chain (for newbies, the chains stretch with use and go slack). I must say that the thread on the bar looks awfully shallow and I would not be surprised if it started slipping after a while. We’ll see.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our Usersbrilliant, less noise,no mixing 2 stroke, long durable lead, cuts just as good as my petrol chainsaw, oregon chain and guide are quality.Only criticism chain is fiddly to put on,best to first put it on the guide then align onto cog on saw on a level surface after a few attempts got it down to a tee, dont forget to loosen chain after a session of cutting as chain will want to contract when going cold and if you dont it will stay elongated and you will find you cant tighten it up to required tightness. At first operation you will find you are constantly tightening chain for first half hour ,after that it will bed itself in and you will not need to adjust as much.
