FOLDYLOCK Compact Bike Lock | Extreme Bike Lock – Heavy Duty Bicycle Security Chain Lock Steel Bars| Carrying Case Included| Unfolds to 85cm / 33.5” | Weight 2.2lb

FoldyLock is a family of premium folding bike locks. Folding lock is a concept of bike locks that are made of steel links connected by steel rivets. This basic configuration allows those locks to form a circle when locking the bike and to be folded into a small case when riding – therefore its name…

D

The concept of the folding lock is relatively new. It was developed to join the benefits of two traditional locks – the “Chain lock” and the “U lock”, both have weaknesses as well. The Chain lock is very flexible and can lock the bike to a variety of objects, but its protection level is mostly low and it is bulky for riding. The U lock, on the other hand, is mostly ranked high on the protection scale, But the same build concept that makes it so secure, also makes it very inconvenient to use – It’s iconic shape “D” or “U” is solid, so it limits the variety of objects it can lock the bike to, and it is always in full size – even while riding. Folding locks, like a U lock, ranks high on the protection scale, thanks to its tough build – but it also has the flexibility of a Chain lock, due to its unique configuration. Unlike both locks it can also be folded into a small case while riding.

This lock is very rugged, sevral ways to install. We used the straps on my wifes Aventon Pace 500.3.. Several colors to chose from and the performance is great. We use the locks when we go into stores or for breafast. Fast and convenient.

A very sturdy and well-built lock. Folds up to a very compact size that fits snugly into the lock holder that mounted easily onto my bike. I like that it doesn’t rattle or bang around when I ride. Also really like that it come with not 1, not 2 – but 3 keys! They must know how prone I am to losing them. Speaking of keys, they, too are very sturdy and well made. Not sure how well the lock will stand up to an attack since I haven’t had to deal with that yet, though the build quality gives me a measure of confidence. Overall, the whole package is very well thought out, designed and executed. Definitely recommend this product.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIt took 35 minutes to break the lock with a dremel, 30″ bolt cutters, and a pipe wrench after someone superglued the keyhole.
It was a beast to break and I’m writing this review while on my to buy another one. 🙂

It does the job. It is quite a heavy lock, but the good thing is that it comes with a slot that can be attached to the bike or scooter so you do not need to carry them here and there while not in use. Great product!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI did research before I bought this bad boy and I gotta say, even if it is a little on the heavy side, the protection is heavy duty and intimidating to thieves. Granted, no lock is guaranteed, but combined with a U lock and a braided metal rope, thieves won’t have a choice but to move on to something easier to steal. Too much work to break these locks and especially this seaty-lock, it’s defenitly not easy! Reliable: heavy duty: ,
intimidating: worth the money? triple !!!! If you’re gonna buy something to lock-up that specialized bicycle or that cool fixy or even the sick GT, look no further!! Highly recommended!!!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersQuite heavy and short, but since i ride a recumbent which is also heavy, i don’t need to secure it to anything. I put it through my spokes and thus people cannot ride off with it. I wouldn’t leave it unattended for a long time but i can go into stores etc.

I love this lock. Not only is it versatile in that you can lock your bike up just about anywhere, it’s super convenient being able to store it on the holder when you ride.

Did not initially fit under my seat post in its upright position. I turned it upside down and used a bungie to secure it. A piece of velcro can also be used.

This look seems indestructible. The company allows key registration in case of loss. The only significant drawback is the weight. I recommend only if you have a location where you lock frequently so you can leave this lock behind and take a lighter one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWell designed, smooth operation. A folding lock is aesthetically the cleanest option for a bicycle and this seems to be the best one. There are some comparable folding locks as far as security goes, but design wise this is an iPhone to there Samsungs and Motorolas.
Slightly skeptical as to wether or not the case will hold it tightly over time, the weight is pretty excessive, but that the trade off for the piece of mind having a solid lock gives you. It’s just ironic to build a bike all the while trying to shave ounces and have to add a 2.2 lb. brick to it so no one steals it.

Much easier to operate than the U-locks (no getting stuck). Keys seem of good quality. Attachment to bike works. Don’t know about security, but makes a reasonable impression.

This lock had been on my radar for months and I initially hesitated because of the price. I already have an Abus 16mm D lock that I use on my ebike but I have found it impossible to mount anywhere on the frame! I use an Abus Bordo 6000 folding lock on my other road bike.

I decided to bite the bullet and pay the $ for the Foldylock… and it’s a real gem of a lock! It’s well designed, fits neatly under the top bar and just doesn’t move or creak while riding. It has a smooth unlocking action, is well made and very sturdy. It snaps back into the holder reassuringly when I return to my bike and it comes with 3 serious looking keys.

I use it plus the D if I leave the bike for more than 30 minutes (I live in suburban London) but feel the Foldylock is a serious deterent to any theft without an anglegrinder.
Just buy it, you won’t regret it!

    I love this lock!

A weighty lock, which I carry low down under my bicycle frame. The (plastic) case was easy to fit with the giant cable lock type straps, but has a tendency to slip despite non-slip inserts. I don’t notice the weight when cycling – but I certainly do when I need to lift my bike!

The lock itself feels reasonably sturdy (though I don’t have confidence that any bike lock would stop a determined thief). It isn’t quite long enough to reach round my bicycle and a post – and there seems little point in securing just my wheel to the post, so I additionally use a long cable to run round the post and through the bike frame, plus I use another lock of a different design (as required by my insurers).

As others have mentioned, the lock behaves like a snake toy, and before I got used to it I chipped the bicycle paintwork a couple of times when the lock whipped round in the opposite direction. In addition, the little hook part of the locking mechanism has an irritating habit of snagging wheel spokes or chain when trying to remove the lock.

Having said that – the storage case makes the lock easy to carry on the bike, and you can’t forget to take it with you; the lock looks smart and feels quite sturdy; and despite having a mind of its own, it’s actually quite easy to use and easy to fold away once you get used to it. I’ve used it for a year now with no problems, and despite being out in all weathers, it still looks brand new.

I use this lock for my bike on a college campus and so far so good. The lock is very convenient with its holder and folding mechanism. However, I was having some issues with it as the folding mechanism was beginning to size up. This lead me to contact their customer service. They’ve sent me a replacement and requested for me to send them mine in order to look into the issue for future products. I very much recommend the foldylock compact and subsequently, seatylock as a company.

The Bike lock market is a miasma of confusing features and BS. Hours of research later the main points are that cable locks are obsolete, and nothing survives angle grinders – and in an area someone can get away with using one time won’t be a factor. So to me a lock needs to resist quieter attacks from picks to short bolt cutters.
The foldylock exudes quality, and at 1kg is the limit of what I can justify carrying about. The next bar lock up weighs 2kg+, and for that it won’t stop a grinder.
It moves smoothly, fits it’s case well and feels solid, with a high security key. Steel is hardened too so its reassuringly protected from concealable bolt cutters or hacksaws. Bought to replace cable lock and I think it’s pretty tough. At the same time I bought a ‘lite’ folding lock from a different maker and the quality and build contrast is marked.
I don’t know if I’ll find this lock sawn open and no bike one day, but the weight and size is tolerable and the quality is there for a reasonable price. Wouldn’t spend more or carry more weight. Very pleased with quality.

As noted in other reviews, the Seatylock brand name is misspelled on all of the links as “Seatylcok.” Not a deal killer, but I can’t imagine Kryptonite, Abus, or any other manufacturer would sell a product with their name misspelled. I took off one star for that, but overall:

The lock itself is very solid. Lock mechanism works well, the bike attachment using the water bottle bosses works great and is rattle-free, and overall, the lock provides a good level of security at a decent price and at a reasonable weight.

I loved it! It’s perfect. Easy to mount, not heavy. I have folding bikes, so it was very difficult to mount a u-lock or a chain. This suits my new e-bike.
The reason i rate it 4* and not 5* is because its misspelling (“Seatylcok”). I wonder if this quality control failure will affect the quality of the product.

I’ve been using my Foldylock for several months now, and couldn’t be happier. I typically don’t need to lock up my bike too often, but when I do it’s nice to have the peace of mind to know it’s well protected. I also like how practically it can be mounted onto my bike’s frame. Sometimes I forget it’s even there. Obviously, it’s not 100% theft proof. If someone really wants your bike bad enough, and they have enough time, will, skill, etc. nothing is going to stop them. This, however, it leaps and bounds beyond your average bike lock, and will be an effective deterent/impediment to any would-be theives … especially if you’re not leaving it locked up for too long (which is usually my case). For example, I will lock it up the bike rack at my local market, or restaurant while I go inside to buy groceries/eat.

So far, so good. Meaning by scooter hasn’t been stolen yet.

    What I like:
    – It’s easy to snake around poles, etc., especially when there are other bikes chained up.
    – It’s super compact and lightweight. I have an Abus U-Lock—which I’m also happy with—for my bike and it’s about 3 pounds heavier than the Foldylock.
    – The holster velcros to the stem of the scooter and stays in place, even over bumps.

    Only drawback:
    – The lock casing is big, which means I can’t snake it through my Thousand helmet like I can with the U-Lock. That’s the only drawback so far.

These locks are quite heavy but fold up compact. The design and construction should defeat most thieves. I dont think a cable cutter could touch them. The only con I see is the limited locking reach. Rather short span.

The lock seems sturdy, it’s easy to open and lock, the only problem I have is mounting options. The sheath it comes in does not allow enough configurations to adapt to odd shapes tubes.
Plus the fact that it has to be inserted in the top of the sheath suggests that you need tube that is minimum 2x the height of the sheath to allow for inserting and removal.
A side load sheath option would cure the problem
