Tips To Achieve The Sharpest Paint Lines

Use a damp sponge and a few drops of washing up liquid mixed in a bucket of warm water. Didn’t leave marks
Used to keep paper blinds in place temporarily. Lasted a good six months before we removed to fit new blinds. Didn’t peel paint off or leave marks when removed, although removed very slowly from surface to be careful.

Good all round tape
Used for both water based gloss and emulsion paints. Leaves almost perfect lines, best tape I’ve used so far. Quite pricey, but worth it to do the job just once!
Good Frog, is there anything it can't do?
The frog giving the duck a hop for his money. This is what you get when the job is a ‘project’ and the extra few quid is worth it when Poundlands finest will not do. It’s very good.
Really does the job
I have tried other masking tapes in the past and found that they do not work. However after using green frog tape I have finally found a tape that does what it say’s it will. Excellent adhesion and easy to remove leaving perfect straight lines.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Excellent for clean lines. You get a lot in the pack it goes far. Currently using it to paint the living room! Just be careful to apply and remove it as per instructions and not just rip it off at the end

I love Frog Tape. The best tape for DIY/painting bar none. It’s a bit overpriced. But ordinary masking tape is just a waste of money, when it comes to achieving neatly defined painted edges.

Beware where you apply it, strong tape.
Very good in general, only complaint is I masked of some items such as this lightswitch and it has stripped the finish. I removed the switch from the wall but still masked it off so I could handle it without care but as pictured it has damaged the finish.

Why use anything else… it’s a bit more expensive, but if you’re going to the trouble of decorating do you want the end result to look shabby…no I’m guessing not. The Frog tape seems to mop up any paint that other masking tape would allow behind it. I taped all my walls and ceilings and the straight lines when I removed the tape was amazing! Looks pretty good !
Excellent buy
Really good tape, worth the extra money rather than masking tape , it only pulls paint of if you don’t warm the tape before pulling it off ( use a hairdryer to warm it up ) works wonders
Usefull and simple
Great for making painting alot easier when cutting in. Do have the occasional leak and rough edge when it hasnt fully stuck but it does save so much time. Peels off easily without removing any paint.

Used it on our van, garden walls, indoor walls windows etc. Used it to redo silicon seals and get a smart edge, nice sharp edge on paint jobs too, and even used it to hold up some very thin plastic sheeting to protect my windows when i painted my cladding. Brilliant tape.

In the ongoing decorating cycle I seem to be stuck in – my living room is on its 3rd iteration in six years??? – being able to conjure up straight lines where white paint meets coloured paint is essential.
I’ve used frog tape to good effect before so picked up a roll of this.
The Good –
Firstly, it’s green, or yellow if you bought the yellow tape, this means in a sea of tools, sheets and beige, it really stands out. It’s handy.
It’s easy to apply, just the right amount of tension to ensure you are putting a straight line in without tearing it until you want to.
In the past when using general masking tape I have often tore it during application, not so with this.
As long as you remember to remove it shortly after painting it really will leave a perfectly fantastic border line. I found once when I left it on for a couple of hours it took a lot of paint off with it on removal. Don’t be like me. Take it off early.
It does come off easily when pulled, try to pull in short amounts rather than ending up with 6ft dangling on the floor at a time, this also helps to increase the effectiveness and reduce unwanted paint removal I have found.
I don’t seem to ever get any seepage from this so it gives me confidence to just hurl the paint on, meaning I can go a fair bit faster round a room.
There isn’t anything bad to say about this product, it is a premium product versus standard beige masking tape you can pick up anywhere, but you really do get a premium finish for your money.
A decorating essential. Highly recommended.

Caution on newly painted walls
Used this on a recently painted wall, circa 1 week or so. Easy to use up until removing. Take it steady as it has a tendency to pull the paint off.
Try the yellow tape on delicate surfaces.
Absolutely brillia
This stuff is absolutely brilliant. I did a full living room with matt emulsion, two different colours and it didnt take any paint off when removing. I was told by a pro decorater that the green one is for matt and gloss, while the yellow is more suitable for silk emulsion. Great stuff

Yes it’s a bit expensive, but I ended up buying three rolls because it’s so good. It does give perfect, straight, lines as long as not trying to mask a rough edge. I had no problems removing it. Work better than I thought. Due to reviews, nervous about using on emulsion but it’s worked fine. Did use it on gloss door edge and it took my gloss off but the edge is good and better than if done by hand.

Fantastic Produc
This tape is a must when decorating and painting. The paint block shield is incredible and it honestly does an amazing job! Easy to apply, blocks paint and easy to remove. Leaves no tacky mess either.
Great for Artists
As an artist I love this tape. It has just the right amount of stickiness to tape my paper to boards and keep it secure. I’ve never had trouble removing it days later when the oil paint has dried.

For all I know other brands have improved, I’m happy to pay for something I know will work. And if you are used to using tape from your local pound shop, this is a revelation. It did take off some paint from the ceiling, but since I always intended to repaint the ceiling that didn’t bother me, and there is the delicate stuff if you want that instead. Only thing I would advise is to check the width, and make sure you’re getting the tape you want.

Very reassuring
This was superb with no paint leaking through compared to others we’ve used. Easy to use but you do need to be careful as it can and will peel some of your paint if you apply it over previously painted areas.

Specifically for masking the inside of the guitar body when staining and lacquering and when dressing the frets after levelling. I chose the delicate surface version to minimise the risk of ripping out parts of the wood grain. I’m pleased to say that this didn’t happen so the tape did its job as advertised.

Can’t fault this tape at all, I am a messy painter and the paint always bleeds through masking tape but with this tape there was nothing, just crisp edges. Wouldn’t recommend leaving on a wall overnight as it sticks very very well and took some paint off. But I think that was my mistake lol

Works well, haven’t really had chance to test out the stretching properties as the items I was painting were too small, keeps great sharp lines when spray painting

This is a really excellent product. I have used various masking tapes over the years and this is upped the game massively. Easy to apply, easy to peel off. It allows clean lines which don’t bleed and when you take it off it doesn’t take off whatever it was stuck to. I won’t use another masking tape after this.

The only the thing I would recommend is I was using chalk paint and when I put it on for when I wanted to do wood stain area it pulled off the paint in areas – but would still recommend, easy to use and it has stretch

Absolutely arrow straight lines
I’m not normally one for leaving reviews and was dreading attempting painting lines across my walls and ceiling, but this tape is superb. The lines are arrow straight and no paint seepage. If you need to paint a straight line this tape is a must. Just make sure you follow the instructions. I did a little bit of tape at a time and removed it straight away.

Much nicer to use than the cheap alternatives. Comes off roll nicely and leaves a lovely sharp line.
Tip Top Tape!
I will never use another brand of printers tape ever again! Absolutely does what it says it will. Easy to apply and remove and I had no paint bleed. Great feature is that you’re able to remove the tape whilst the paint is still wet without disturbing the line of paint. Great adhesion after application.

Frog tape eliminates both issues. As long as you’re careful when applying it you get very little to no bleedthrough and it comes off a lot easier than the masking tape and has left the ceiling paint in place.

Used it for the first time when painting my cloakroom… it was excellent. I followed the instructions and found it very easy to place on a good surface and found no seepage of paint when removed.
Remove before dry, perfec
Impressed! Never done any DIY or painting before! Worked really well, only a few touch ups needed. No bleeding at all. Ensure you remove it while the paint is still wet for perfect lines!

Durable, easy to apply and doesn’t leave any residue when removed. I prefer this product to many of the similar masking products on the market. Consistently good, a DIY must!
Good quality nice straight lines
Used this for cutting in from wall to ceiling when painting our bedroom, really good perfect lines and peels off easily. To note if you use cheap emulsion or a emulsion/water primer it does/can pull off the paint it’s fairly strong. I always use a pre made primer which is thick and a decent Matt/silk paint no problems.
Worth the money
Excellent product which is easy to apply and remove after use. It is more expensive than cheaper masking tapes but is worth paying extra as it is stronger and leaves a straighter line after painting.
Great if used properly
It sticks rather well with minimal paint bleed, though you’re best to get a good run at it rather than taping small sections. The tape sticks really well, but only if it’s nice clean and completely dry surfaces. I made the mistake of taping freshly painted walls (leaving after 3 full days) only to find that it took the paint with it upon removal. I later tried the yellow version to find the same result. Anyways, after much trial and error I found that the green tape is great for sectioning off your skirtings, then using basic masking tape on top of the skirtings (after 48hrs) to then do your walls. Best of luck, DIYers!

It does just come straight back off without leaving any glue behind. I don’t try and stretch it or I don’t think it would work as well keeping a clean edge while painting and there is not so much give in the tape that a stretch would happen where I wouldn’t want it. I won’t be going back to masking tape!

Easy to place and a roll of this covers skirting, and the ceiling of a reasonably sized room . It makes your paint job look very professional when you remove from corners, skirting and the ceiling edges after finishing the walls.

Worth every penny!
As a bit of a perfectionist in the decorating area I had great difficulty getting straight lines near the edges on the ceilings. I used masking tape and rulers initially and it was just a waste of time. I then did a bit of research and found frog tape. I was a bit dubious at first as I was worried it would pull the paint away but thought ill just give it a go. I’m so glad I did, I was pleasantly surprised by the how good it was. Worth every penny in my opinion. My bathroom has near perfect lines and no paint was pulled off when removing the tape. Brilliant product.

I used masking tape and rulers initially and it was just a waste of time. I then did a bit of research and found frog tape. I was a bit dubious at first as I was worried it would pull the paint away but thought ill just give it a go. I’m so glad I did, I was pleasantly surprised by the how good it was. Worth every penny in my opinion. My bathroom has near perfect lines and no paint was pulled off when removing the tape. Brilliant product.
Does the job.
Easy to use, sticks well and is easy to remove. I think I found some cheaper online, but I needed it next day so for a few quid more I got this one.
Just brillia
Brought a professional finish to the painting of my coving. Used to hate trying to follow the line by hand and always made a mess. Fixed the tape about 1/8″ below the coving and painted it not worrying when my brush overlapped the tape. Left it about 10 mins and then peeled it off downwards and across. Didn’t pull any of the wall paint off underneath. Same process for painting the wall only the other way round. Fantastic product.

I was even asked if it was wallpaper when the job was done, which shows the quality of the line it leaves.
I’ll be using this for all painting jobs moving forward. Worth the money for a job done right first time.
Makes painting easie
The old man is on a painting mission and I bought his in bulk. He finds it very easy to use and makes life a whole lot easier. One lesson he did learn though was that the green one needs to be taking of the coving quickly IF used on that.

The only masking tape I will now buy
I was recommended Frog Tape by someone who works as a painter & decorator. They said the higher price was worth every penny, and they were correct. I have such beautiful clean lines around the chimney breast of my lounge.

Very good quality
Actually really good good quality. Friend suggested I didn’t there was a difference of house the output becomes. Used other tapes and it true when removing it rips paint. Also after painting peal of early don’t leave it for nigh
Make sure you get the tape in a straight line.

Great tape
This is the best tape for decorating that I have used. Easy to use, VERY sticky but so easy to remove. The green colour makes it easy to see whether you have removed it all too.

Use this tape whenever I’m painting. So easy to use, gives a smooth line and when it comes to removing the tape it leaves no sticky gunk behind….perfect.

Clean lines and no bleeding what so ever, so exactly what we needed.
The roll was covered in fine dust on arrival but didn’t cause any problems to the use or adhesive ness of the product.
The tape could be stretched if needed and we were able to move positions with it if we changed our minds.
Would highly recommend over other products.
Great, preformed as expected
Perfect, did what it says on the tin. Delivery was quick and efficient. Just make sure you read the instructions on the tin so as not to damage previously painted coats.
Good within its limitations.
Generally a good product, but no use at all on water-based garden paint. Used to mask the window frame on a summer house. When removed, most of the paint under the tape came with it. (Nice clean sharp line for the frame paint though.) Use it with care.
Worth the extra cost to save you looking at dodgy paint lines for the next couple of years
Honestly slight skeptical of the reviews, but this tape a world away from from your normal normal making tape. If you’re amateur diyer just buy the thick version this one, some good rollers, some dust sheets, some quality paint (try lick it seems to last longer than dulux) and you’ll have good results. Don’t forget to remove the tape just after you’ve completed your last coat.
I usually go for the mega cheap, three-for-a-quid, masking tape, and wonder why I get rubbish results. My son saw this geometric wall painting pattern on Tik Tok and wanted to do it. Frog tape had been recommended and so that’s what we used.
You can tell the quality straight away. It went onto a wall I’d repainted a few days before and I used a small wallpaper roller to get as good a seal as possible. We removed the tape 5 – 10 mins after painting. It came off really well leaving a sharp line and no annoying tearing like the cheap stuff does. Of our geometric wall paint there are just two small areas of bleed which is a shame, but it could have been a slight blemish on the wall.
