works well. installing the screws is boring. it pedals well and works under modest mtb conditions. i did have to alter some of my pedaling technique to not put too much force towards the front of the pedal. this is not this pedal per se issue - just the whole concept of flat pedals on mtb.

I love the grip on these pedals and how big they are. They are heavier than composite ones, but I will take the weight penalty if it means better durability.

I replaced the original manufacturers peddles on my TREK mountain bike after 16 hard years of riding as part of a rebuild of all bearings etc. I researched and choose the peddles and so far I am very impressed and happy with these pedals.

For the first time in about 10 years I have switched from riding with clipless pedals to flat pedals for my mountain bike. I’m glad I did because I prefer the freedom of quick movement on technical terrain by being able to wear my laced trail running shoes for walking comfort instead of using the stiffer-soled shoes with cleats. Although the Funn Funndamental pedals are priced a little higher than comparable aluminum pedals from other manufacturers, I believe it’s worth the investment. Installation was a snap and the pedals spin freely even after having been covered with dirt many times. So far, the pedals have also proven to be very durable after a few impacts with rocks on trails located in the Southern Nevada desert; there has been no apparent bending or distortion of the metal (only the expected minor cosmetic damage). I would not recommend plastic pedals as I’ve already seen broken pieces of plastic pedals way out on single tracks and I knew the strength of aluminum pedals were far superior before I decided to buy them. The replaceable pedal pegs are tough and easily grip my shoe treads while riding on different terrain with no slippage. I also like the color choices available.
Great looking pedals. Mix and match pegs. Big upgrade from the stock pedals.
I didn’t give my pedals much thought and I was running the stock aluminum pedals on my 20+ year-old Gary Fisher mountain bike. I came across these and decided to give them a try. They are a huge upgrade from my stock pedals. The amount of surface area is probably the biggest upgrade. (they are wide and flat) You can mix and match pegs to get the desired amount of grip. They also look great. I guess I really didn’t notice the pedals on the bike before. I just wear normal tennis shoes when I ride and the grip is much improved. I haven’t ridden with wet pedals yet but I would imaging the grip would be dramatically different than it would be with the stock pedals.
I may get a bit more use out of the mountain bike and I may consider a set of these for my hybrid even.
These peddles not only look sick on my MTB, they’re also really rugged. I got some tenfive shoes to go with them and the screws grab onto the bottom of the shoes so really good for climbs.
Great buy
I haven't tried my new pedals but they do look well made and of good material, I tried stepping on the and they do feel super, lots of grip and of good size.

My husband put these pedals on his Cannondale Topstone which he uses for multi-surface riding. He was really impressed with the quality of these pedals noting how smooth the bearings were right out of the box. The grease port should also make servicing them a breeze when needed. The adjustable pins were easy to install and the customization is a plus to suit individual likes. The grip was stable and confidence inspiring with the five-ten shoes ( 10.5) he normally rides with.
On rough single/double track the pedals provided a sure grip with great power transfer. Pedal strike was not an issue with the terrain which consisted of mostly hard pack and loose gravel with the occasional root or small jump to go over. The finish on these pedals is first rate and they look great to boot. Overall, a great product with a smart design.
This are heavy duty well-made pedals. They very grippy and feel like they grab on to your shoes. There is no slippage even when you aggressively pedal. I like these pedals and will be getting another set for my other bike. It is easy to give a five star rating and a positive review of this fine product.

In typical Funn fashion, the fit and finish are great, awesome price, and grip for days.. Living in FL, we have plenty of sand, rain, and mud. I've wanted to get several sessions on the pedals before writing something , and I can say that the pedals are exactly what I have expected them to be and provide the grip I am used to and also have come to expect. I've been riding the Funn One Sided Mamba's, and since I figured I wouldn't be clipping in anytime soon, I wanted something that was a true flat pedal with no SPD function on one side, so the Funndamental seems to fit the bill. My style is more bull in a china shop then finesse, pound through what ever it is vs smooth lines around stuff, and my feet stay where they are supposed to until I want to move them. I weight 235lbs riding a Transition bottle rocket as my main rig and use it for everything. Ride up the mountain, then hauling butt down, to single track.

I’m actually shocked at how good these pedals are. I’m a decently fast/good rider that like blacks, double blacks, jumps, drops, etc. I’ve tried quite a few flat pedals over the years and settled on DMR Vaults as my standard. When I compared these they’re very similar size and shape but 10 grams lighter each (206 vs 216 grams). They’re also just a bit cheaper. They come with narrow pins and thicker more rounded screws. As a more aggressive rider I used the pins everywhere I could and the screws where I couldn’t. You can also make the screws a little taller with included washers which I did.
On to the test! I went out to my local trailsystem and did 3 different runs. I was wearing my normal grippy Five Ten freerider’s for the shoes. First a fast flow trail with some jumps. My feet stayed planted in the air and I was able to get my foot off moto style for some of the berms, no problem getting it back on either. I hit the next trail which was more rocky and rooty with a steep chute, some loose corners and a few small jumps at the end. As before my feet stayed on great. I set a PR on this run, though that had more to do with conditions being perfect. The pedals didn’t get in the way though, so points there. Finally I pedaled UP some singletrack with a few tech spots. No problems climbing, again grip was really good. The final trail was kind of a mix of the previous two. Some flow, some jumps and drops, some roots. All good.
Obviously I can’t comment yet on long term durability though I did smack a pedal on a stump with no issue today. But these seem to be really nice grippy flats that won’t break the bank. I can find no real faults with them and I love the color so they’re staying on the bike!
So sick
I have an electric bike that goes over 50mph and I love to hit jumps so these are necessary and I didn’t even realize it. When I compare these with my stock pedals I laugh.
Being able to dial them in custom is very nice I just wish I knew which size spikes I want, I’ll have to try both and make a decision.
The green are awesome, like a metallic lime green just like the small stripe on my Giant Talon.
These pedals are amazing. They are super smooth, tons of grip, really durable and I like how you can lube/service the pedals with removing one screw. They come with the tools to install all the pins and you can adjust the length with the provided washers. They install really easily with a 8mm Allen wrench.

I’ve ridden flat pedals for 15 years, and these are some great pedals!! The first thing you need to know is that the FUNNdamental pedals come with 2 different sets of pins, that you can mix-and-match. This is brilliant, and allows you to costomize the grip for the way you ride. For example, I used the most grippy pins at all 4 corners of the pedal. Then, I used the rounded pins on the outboard side, so that I can slide my foot off when I need to. Finally, I again used the most grippy pins for the rest of the pedal, but added a spacer (included) to them, so that they would’d be as tall or have the bite as the 4 corners. This made a concave shape, and one that matches my riding style of fun trails, poppy jumps and I lean a lot into turns. A perfectly customized pedal!
If you ride all bikepark and downhill, then you can use only the tall/ most grippy pins. Or, if you ride more trails then you can add spacers to pins, or remove pins completely to get the proper grip you need.
Earlier this year I tried the new Shimano XT flats, and I was disappointed by the grip. The shape looked cool in the photos, but the pins were really wonky and the pedals were hefty. These FUNN pedals are so much better, lighter, and at almost the same price.
I’m stoked on the high-quality, and continue the long tradition of great value for the price (I’ve had FUNN bars, stem and pedals in the past). For example, the quality I get with the FUNNdamental pedals is probably that of a $130 USD pedal, but they are sold for much less. That’s why they’re a good value.
Overall, after the first ride I completely forgot about them. This is great, because it means I didn’t have to worry about my foot placement or grip. I rode trails in Chico, CA (known for some of the bumpiest runs in the state!), as well as the local pumptrack and even around town. These pedals are my new favorites for sure. Nice work FUNN!
I like how big and wide these are. I don’t have a big foot but I wear a 10.5 and like big flat pedals. These are perfect and also fairly thin. Not a bulky pedal at all. The quality is top-notch and the grease port is genius. I’ll be honest though, I wasn’t excited to install the pins but once I started it went by quick. Probably no more then 10 minutes total to install all the pins. Once I installed the pedals on the bike I couldn’t help but go for a rip on the local trail and test them out. Very solid grippy flat pedal. I’m very excited to put these to use more. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a great affordable flat pedal! 5 Stars to FUNN on this product!
