Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was honestly not expecting much from this set, there were not a lot of reviews or pictures, but I though I might get a few decent things out of this kit. Well, I got an amazing surprise. It came with so much more than advertised! And the quality is amazing. Everything feels very solid and was packaged very well. There was only a small issue with one of my wooden brushes but I was able to fix it was some water. Also it came with a watercolor container and a brush case which I was not expecting. If you are trying to start out at painting, jump on this deal. Highly recommend!!

This set has everything you need. Brushes, oil paint , watercolours, waterpot EVERYTHING, even paper, canvas and stand. Amazing quality and for the price, it is really worth it. If you buy the products separately they would cost way more. I love how they included different types of paint so you can use different techniques. Amazing

I am new to the creative art and painting hobby category, and I really look forward to getting it started and purchasing the gears I need. Honestly it is not easy to make a purchase decision, I find it very time consuming to shop the market independently for the tools, luckily some of the packages does offer the beginners the tools they need.

The “Deluxe” set from H&B is the one we went with, in total there are 108 pieces in the box, which of course taking the paint brush and paint color sets into account. There are 3 painting pads cover acrylic, oil and water paintings, for us the water painting is the one we start with. There are 20 A4 size sheets on the water painting pad, enough for some creative ideas popping up. In addition to the painting pad, there are five canvases and color wheel included. The aluminum easels is good quality and very sturdy.

Now we are considering to buy a set for our friend, as she is interested in getting into the painting.

    Overall, recommend.

I am so impressed with this set. It has so many elements- really everything you need to paint even if you are a beginner like me. I started with watercolours ( oil and acrylic are also included). Selection of colours is super rich, many brushes which seems to be good quality, they do the job perfectly also they are easy to clean. If you pint with oil or acrylic I guess you will need some solution to clean them with as water would not be suitable. I have made my first painting but i am still working on it, now would be the hardest part like contouring so the painting looks more real. Arrived packed in box along with block of paper, canvas (2 of them one small and one bigger). What is included in the set is clearly stated in the description and pictures so I will stress more about quality of the product which seems to be quite decent actually. The aluminium easel can be adjusted to any hight, holds the canvas well and it is sturdy. As a beginner I don’t think I could get a better set (i went through a lot of websites and videos how to start painting also what would i need) this set simply has it all. Price seems to be a great value for money, I would recommend.

    Absolutely amazing

This H&B art set is a fantastic collection of all you need to get started at painting! You get to chose from watercolour and acrylic paint, although I wonder if instead of two watercolour paint sets there should have been some oil paints as there were the all three types of paper provided- all high quality I should add. The easel was easy to set up and has adjustable heights and angles making it versatile depending on individual preferences. I have tested the watercolour paints which were a great selection of colours and went on beautifully (I admit I’m no artist ). I think this would be a great gift for older children or to buy for an adult.

My only negative comment was that all the items were individually wrapped in plastic which felt unnecessary.

There were two sets of brushes, and one set of palette knives, shame no oil paints included- but this could have been an error in packaging!

    Fantastic se

I am so happy with this bundle of art supplies. Most of the people will care about the quality. I would say they are pretty good quality for the price . I tried watercolour and oil painting. What I like the most is the watercolour paper. It is 300gsm good thick watercolour paper! Look at my corgi. The watercolour paint has good rich pigment . Easy to use. The oil one , honestly it is my first oil painting. I normally practice watercolour and acrylic. The oil painting is thick , creamy and easy to apply. I really like this whole set. It is not only for beginners , also good for intermediate self taught artist like me . I would suggest , they can also add some medium in such as varnish or some mix oil for oil painting. Then that will be a real 100% full set. The supplies such as acrylic knives, brushes are easy to use. The easel is portable and sturdy to use

Very good value for money , my new favourite se

I used to paint a lot when I was younger, I am slowly returning to my bygone passion again — this set seems like magic — there’s everything there, bar oil to thin/help mix the oil paints.

Of course, the paints are the bit that will make or break this set — I must say that they are pretty good quality. I have tried all of them (although I am better with acrylics and oils, watercolours aren’t my forte). The oils feel solid, easy to blend with good strong pigments — they have good texture, take fairly long to dry (as any good oils). Acrylics have good crisp edge, dry quickly, good bright colours and these work well for creating thick, impasto paintings.

The painting brushes are more than enough for most painting enthusiasts.

The palette knives are of good quality with wooden handles.

The easel is easy to setup (and fold back) and stable to hold large canvas.

The silicon brush cleaning basket is a bit odd (I use glass jars to clean by brushes) and the palette is OK for most although I prefer flat wooden one.

The papers/canvas included are of good quality too.

Overall — a great, fairly large set that is good for most — not just for beginners.

That is until one thing…..the one thing that lets this beautiful set down and that’s the collapsible bucket..

If you count individual items and compare it with similar items, you will be blown away by the reasonable and such affordable price you are getting this huge bundle for.

I opened the box and was virtually mesmerized by the decent student level quality and 108 pieces of artistic material. I am not a professional by any means but I have been painting since childhood and I am over 50 year old. I normally use budget range Acrylic and watercolours as they are cheap, easy to clean up and put away.

I must say that I have never seen such a comprehensive collection for art in one box nor in this price range. I use W&N brand and similar set of paint will cost you have the price of this box. PS I am not talking about their high end Artist paints. Also I have a wide collection of painting brushes and I couldn’t afford a set due to price so I bought them as a treat over the years. Those Brushes each costs over 15 to 40.

There is a metal easel that is compact enough to put away in a bag and once extended as you can see in my pics it is at a height that I can easily stand and paint (I am 5′ 10″). I never had the privilege to own one so this is my first time to try it out along with Oil paints as it is something I never tried as oil paints are expensive.

There are 3 sets of 24 colour paints in each range I.e watercolour, Acrylic and Oil paints even those 3 sets will cost you over 100. 27 Brushes from soft to hard as well as pallet knives set. There is a large size plastic thumb pallet and a foldable box pallet. Set also comes with a foldable silicone bucket that is absolutely must have for Artist.

I can virtually go on and on about each item but I understand that review is getting too long so here is my verdict if you still haven’t made your mind up.

If you are looking for a Artist set that includes everything to get you started or for a Art class student such as GCSE in art or similar and do not want to fork out money on individual items than this set is for you. It is an ideal starter set, perhaps a gift for someone who is considering to kick start a relaxing hobby. Buy it with confidence. You won’t find anything better in this price range.

I am very pleased with this set and would highly recommend it.

Fully comprehensive all 3 painting mediums and more in one box.

The H & B Artists Kit is a pretty comprehensive painter’s kit that claims 108 pieces (I’ll be honest, I never actually counted them all so I’m taking that number on faith!) in a “De Luxe” category. And it really is an eye-opening, mouth-watering package of delights for painters young and old, new or experienced.

This kit contains everything a painter could want (apart from a tatty garret room in a Bohemian corner of Paris) whether they are a newbie or a seasoned veteran of the art game, with a holster full of notched paintbrushes.

I won’t enumerate every piece of the kit as that is already well-documented, but the basics comprise of two sets of paintbrushes (one set in it’s own wallet) which encompasses sizes up to 1″ width and in all shapes; square cut, diagonal cut; broad, fine, pointed, tapered, fan-shaped etc – the two sets allow one to use them for a specific media rather than mix them up – and there is also a half-dozen or so metal spatulas, trowel and scrapers and such. All these tools are numbered and sized so you can always select the right one for each specific job.

There are a pair of palettes; one traditional painter’s palette for oil paints and acrylics, and a closable palette for water colours (it has a handy little thumb-hole so it can be held in the hand like a traditional one, I quite like that). These are plastic and easy to clean. And talking of cleaning, there is also a collapsible bucket for water for the water paints of for cleaning brushes or whatever one requires.

Then there are the paints; a wonderful trifecta of Oil, Acrylic and Water Colour paints, each in separate boxes containing twenty-four 12ml (0.4 fl oz) tubes of quality paints, each colour being immediately identifiable from the broad colour band that represents the contents. They are not huge tubes, but the scope offered by such a wide range of paints in different mediums is considerable.

You can get cracking straight out of the box because along with the three kinds of paints there are commensurate 11.6″ x 8.3″ (29.7cm x 21cm) painting/drawing/sketchpads provided, one for acrylics (16 sheets), one for oils (10 sheets) and one for watercolours (20 sheets).

In addition to these pads, there are two blank white canvases on frames provided. These canvases can be placed on the largest item in the kit – a fully extendable lightweight aluminium artists easel.

I was very impressed with this; it took a couple of moments to understand how it holds the canvass in place, but it was up in very short order, and given the light weight and the zippered carry-bag with strap, this is an easel that is very portable and easily carried into the field to work without becoming a burden. The telescopic legs extend to make it higher than I would ever need. Being so light it’s not the most robust, but it is definitely strong enough for the job it needs to do and is easy to tote about and set up at one’s convenience.

I think that about covers it… there’s a lot in this kit to be sure. I don’t know what the individual value of the components are and whether the totality makes this more economic, but frankly, if one has the funds to spend on a good quality comprehensive artist’s kit that provides most of the tools a painter would ever need (I say “most” because I note that there is a complete absence of pencils, pastels or chalks), I wouldn’t have any compunction about recommending this excellent H&B De Luxe Artist’s Kit.

What a brilliant set this is. It has absolutely everything you need to start experimenting with art. It feels like excellent value — I can imagine buying these pieces separately would cost a lot more — and it’s brilliant that you don’t even have to think about what you need — it’s all in the set for you.

The set doesn’t feel cheaply put together either. The brushes and palette knives seem well made and the paints look premium. The paper in the sketchbooks are a good quality and the canvases well made. I think this would make a perfect gift for the aspiring artist — perhaps with an additional and an introductory ‘How to’ book for painting with the different types of paints.

In summary, the only issue you may have after purchasing this is where to store all the pieces. It’s probably worth investing in a decent box to keep everything together!

    Excellent set!

    Absolutely perfect for beginners!

If you’re looking for a gift for the budding artist in your life then you can’t get more comprehensive than this.
It contains a great selection of materials including oil, acrylic and watercolour paints, loads of brushes, sketchbooks and canvas.
You only get 2 canvases, which is a bit naughty as the listing says you get 5!
The paints have a good range of colours and the sketchbooks are supplied to match each of the different types of paint.
The easel is perfect for the serious artist and it’s height adjustable so suitable for standing or seated. It comes with a handy case to store it in.
It’s very sturdy when erected, much better than the cheap, flimsy ones you get in some sets.
Definitely a good variety of art supplies but if you’re on a budget it is a lot to pay out all at once.
Hope you found my review helpful

This is an amazing gift to someone who enjoys painting. And my GF as one of those people really liked this set as it covers all the needs of the beginner. and makes you feel more like a professional. It contains 3 different types of paint ( Acrylic, Watercolour and Oil) has 27 different brushes, and most importantly big Easel which makes this set even better. Moreover, 3 x sketchbooks are provided to help you out, and 5 Canvas as well. Basically, the moment you get this set you can go straight away outside and start painting. The quality of everything is really good, and this set is worth you buying. As the quality is really good, and it will proved you with everything for the beginning of the painting. Overall, if you have someone who enjoys painting this could be the best ever b-day present for her/him.

I won’t go wow, and list all the things you get for 90 – I am not certain it adds up to the fantastic value some people think but it is nevertheless a good set offering decent quality all round. The brushes are light but not cheap. The paint tubes are on the small side but, again, good variety and not cheap quality. The tripod works well. The bucket is nicely made and folds up nicely. The palette is ok, though plastic and slightly flimsy.

It comes in a carboard box with no frills. I approve of that as you tend to pay a lot extra for fancy boxes, but you will probably want to find your own storage system unless you have a special painting corner which you don’t mind getting very untidy.

The one caution I would offer is that this is aimed at beginners. If you are looking for a gift for someone already in the hobby, this will have a lot of overlap and you get something top quality of what they really need.

I personally would buy something to store it all in as the box itself is quite big, the items would fit in a smaller one.

Overall this is a great quality set and would have easily been a 5* if the easel was not missing.

Excellent set, but sadly missing the easel.

This set is unbelievable value for money. I was actually blown away at quite how much you get here for the price and the quality itself is actually very reasonable. As with all beginners sets for anything, it’s likely you’ll want to replace bits and pieces with higher quality versions once you get to know your style and preferences etc. but to get going, this is really nothing to shake a stick at and the brushes especially are actually of a much better quality than I was expecting. Before I get too much further into it, here’s a list of everything you receive, as there is some discrepancies in the listing. You can also see everything you receive in my photos.

    1x Easel with carry case
    24x Watercolour paints
    24x Acrylic paints
    24x Oil paints
    1x Collapsible bucket
3x sketchbooks (varying amount of pages, 1 each for watercolours/acrylics/oil)
    2x pallets (1 for oils/acrylics & 1 for watercolours)
    5x Pallet knives
11x Brushes for oil and acrylics
    11x brushes for watercolours
    1x brush case
    2x canvas

I highly recommend you either pick up something to hold everything together, like a nice artist hold all, or keep hold of the box, which it packs nicely away into, because that’s a lot of stuff!

The paints themselves are actually good quality with good pigmentation. They are the smaller tubes, but still, this is a lot of paint and incredible value. The brushes feel a little lightweight for my preference, but the actual tips are made with decent quality hairs and will certainly get you going. If this was my first set of equipment, there is actually very little I would be rushing to upgrade. As it is, the brushes will go into my brush box and get used without hesitation and the paints are fine, again I’ll be perfectly happy to mix them in with my usual paints and use them, no problem. I showed my partner this set who is an art teacher at secondary school and she couldn’t believe it, when I told her it even had an easel, she thought it must’ve been a little desktop thing until she saw it. She then instantly logged onto amazon and bought this set for her younger sister who has shown some interest in painting recently. I try to be quite critical in my reviews, but I’d say this is as good of a recommendation as you’re going to get from me!

    Truly a fantastic beginner set!

There is sooo much in this huge set – literally everything any art lover or amateur painter could wish for, and then some. I’m astonished at the price, currently 90, which sounds like a lot but wait till you hear what’s in it. You’d you’d have to pay one heck of a lot more to get everything individually. Sorry for the long upcoming list here but I hope this helps describe exactly what you do get (the first marketing photo is a pretty good indication). It’s ace, it really is – three full sets (24 assorted colours) of proper paint tubes in each media (oils, acrylic and watercolour) with matching spiral bound sketch books, different paper thicknesses for each type of paint too – 300gsm or 250gsm. Two canvasses (not 5 as the blurb says) one about A4 size, the other about A5. Two different palettes to mix your paints, one the typical artist palette with thumb hole etc, the other, a fold over paintbox style. Those are plastic, I’ll admit. The set of black brushes, I think about 14 of them, all with fancy heads and a black case of blue traditional brushes. It’s not 27 sets as the blurb says but I think there are 27 or 28 brushes in total. Plus a full set of palette knives – metal, not plastic. The bucket bag thingy is really good – it sort of collapses down yet is sturdy enough once pulled out to hold water without leaking a drop, and has a square, big opening. The easel is black painted aluminium, lightweight but strong, really easy to put up, yet folds neatly in its own little black carrying bag. Phew – that’s the end of the list. Masses, isn’t it?
I’m utterly astounded at the quality – for the price, I rather cynically expected plastic everything – a wonky easel, thin paper, shedding brushes and I never dreamed the paints would be this good. Oh, btw, only the blue brushes come in a case, you’ll need your own bag for the knives and black brushes but hey, I don’t mind that. This is all just so neat, so portable, such good stuff. I’m not talented at all, I mess around with arty stuff purely for my own amusement so I can’t comment on whether full on professional artists would be as enthusiastic as I am about this collection. But if you like playing with art like me, or you know someone who does, I can almost guarantee you won’t be disappointed in this set.

This is quite a substantial artists collection boasting acrylic, watercolour and oil paints, multiple brushes and palette knives, an easel and other accessories. The easel is has three-stage telescopic legs so you have a good range of movement to adjust the height to suit children and most adults, it’s quite simple to set up and is reasonably sturdy and includes a carry bag for easy transport.

Each of the three paint sets each contain 24 tubes (12ml) of pigment, including most of the basics you’d expect to find. The colours are rich , the oils have good opacity and blend well; the acrylics are vibrant and both are easy to work with. I’m not so great with watercolours but they look and behave as I would expect.

The set includes a large plastic palette, a watercolour mixing tray both of which are functional (although I do prefer wooden palettes for oils). The set includes a collapsible silcone caddy for cleaningand storing brushes.

The set of palette knives is good, the handles are comfortable and the blades work the paint well. The brushes are somewhat disappointing, whilst they are by no means premium, the fault mostly stems from how they were packed inside the box and I found a number of brushes had bristles splayed and shedding beyond salvage.

The set includes three pads (29.7 x 21 cm), one for oils, one for acrylics and one for watercolours. There are also two small canvas panels incuded.

The set omits some oil painting essentials: linseed oil (for thinning and blending oils paint), turps for cleaning brushes, and gesso for priming unprepared surfaces for painting (some acrylic gesso for acrylic painting might have been worth including too). However, the set is a fairly solid foundation and it’s easy to add to and replace elements to suit your own needs and preferences over time.
