This is the very best solution to control your heating. I have a thermostat and a valve on every radiator, so I control the temperature of every room in the house. The bedrooms & bathrooms come on early, but then switch off after everybody gets up. The downstairs then come on, and remain on during the day. The bedrooms them get switched back on come bedtime, for a couple of hours, and then all gets switched off until morning

The phone app allows you to change the heat in any room, from anywhere, at any time. My gas bills have now halved. Its an expensive system, but it will repay itself within a few years at the most.

Risparmi notevoli sui consumi. Assistenza presente in 24/48 ore rispondono e sempre.

Having used other “smart” thermostats this I find is way better as long as your prepared to utilise it fully with smart actuators also.
Only down side is that it does not have “geo” function and the app could show which room is calling for heat though this can be seen on the display unit itself.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe good points about this control panel are that looks good and has lots of features for controlling the central heating system. It’s pretty straightforward to use and the instructions provided are easy to follow to get you started.

I would have given this device an extra star but for a few things which I feel could be improved. Firstly, the touch screen – it’s not very responsive and I find I often have to press on the screen several times before it reacts. Secondly – since this device connects to the Internet, there ought to be an option to export your settings (that would also open up the possibility of being able to save more than one profile for each connected device). Lastly, the idle screen – it’s way too bright and there ought to be a way to make it less bright without having to reduce the brightness of the settings screens. An option to have a white clock on a black background (as is currently available in night time mode) would be a good feature and there should be an option to completely turn off the idle screen at night as even with the white clock on a black background, it still lights up my bedroom if I leave the door open for ventilation.

The central system itself is fine but it was not coming with the small box that is attached to the boiler and send information to the central system. I had to buy that one separately (and urgently) because the technician was home.
Apart from thate, it is installed and is working as expected.

Finally finished installing this system and would like to say that it is brilliant.
Total control of everything to do with your heating.
The main control panel is easy to use and setup. The iPhone app for is even easier. Works on the home Wi-fi or if your not at home works on mobile data too!
I have 11 zones setup at the moment so there is even a spare zone left just in case we extend the house.
The only thing I would say is that the installation manual could be slightly clear on some of the instructions, but I would like to add the the Honeywell website is very good so if you are installing one of these systems remember that the website is definitely worth having a look at if something is not clear.
Very very happy with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAfter much research, I found this to be easily the best smart thermostat on the market and it goes the whole way by controlling individual radiators in addition to the central heating boiler. Every room has the right temperature at the right time.

It’s been about 3 months and we have not experienced any issues controlling this system remotely. Additionally, though all the controls on the thermostat are not available on the smartphone apps, this is not really detrimental.

We bought 8 of the HR924UK radiator thermostats to go with this and the pairing went quite simply by following the instructions. I already had a very basic wireless thermostat which had been installed professionally, so I was able to connect the wireless module (this is separate from the thermostat but comes in the box) myself by following the wiring diagram at Honeywell’s website for installers. Note that if you don’t already have a wireless thermostat or you have the smallest doubt about connecting the wireless module, get a certified professional to avoid risk to life and property.

Once everything is installed, you’re on your way – you can name each thermostat around the house and decide what the temperature should be at different times of day in each room (the thermostat allows up to 10-minute precision). The thermostat touchscreen comes with a wizard to make this simple, or you can control the schedule with more control.

The HR924 radiator thermostat regulates heat by opening and closing the valve as directed by the programmed schedule. There’s a little noise as the motor turns, but after a while, you learn to tune it out. This combined system of the touchscreen thermostats and radiator controllers is very well thought out and includes options like always making a particular room a little warmer or cooler than the measured room temperature and showing which room(s) have caused the central heating boiler to come on. There could be some improvements (the battery life when the thermostat is moved from the base seems short and some features could be made more easy to access) but this has been one of my most satisfying purchases for a while.

I’ve had this system since it came out, i have the non wifi model and just upgrading to the wifi model now so thought i;d leave a review. We spent in excess of 200 a month on gas to heat our old grade Ii listed 5 bed property having a basic 2 zone upstairs/downstairs all rad implementation until this system. Now we heat just the rooms we need at just the times we need and save a fortune. We saved over the cost of the implementation in the first year alone.

The app is ok, it does crash and forget your login but it works. Integration with google home is great “hey google set the lounge to 21 degress” etc.

The units seem to relay comms between them creating a kind of mesh which is great if you have big old thick walls like us where wifi doesn’t penetrate well.

All in all a great system that, whilst not cheap, is a saving mechanism as well as useful gadget.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis has been THE BEST buy!! We moved to a 3 bed detached C17 thatch a year ago and bought 500L of oil a month to heat it between November and March to approx 18 twice a day. With over a foot of new insulation in the loft the bills kept mounting up and the house felt constantly freezing unless we had the heating in 24/7.
We bought this last month (as well as the Hr92 TRVs and a room sensor for the en-suite with towel rails) and wow!! What a difference!!

We hired an electrician to fit the relay and set up the controller and fitted the Hr92s ourself (all rads had TRVs so with a combination of adaptors etc it was quite straight forward).

We no longer have draughts, the house is heated everywhere we need it comfortably at all times, it feels like the insulation in the loft is now actually working and gone is the pooling condensation from the single glazed windows! We’re yet to see if this has a dramatic improvement on our oil buying but we both agree if we spend the same amount at least we are now actually warm and dry!!
Thank you Honeywell! What a game changer this clever little system is!

    Lots of technical setup

Understand lots of ways of setting up and wireless prone to issues. Being taking the installers advice of making sure a metal back box wasnt near the controller, in the end the fault was that the orginal st9400 24:7 timer was at odds with the new evo! Evo was demanding outside the CH timer. Set st9400 to 24hr And the evo is happy. Great to finally have the kids bedroom warm without having a jungle climate in the lounge!!

Have had the system a year now & it works well. Originally installed to stop “thermostat war” between the rest of family (20C) & daughter (24C). Each room has it’s own setting. Controlling 9 rads & hot water. Has worked well & allows control of radiators remotely from phone & locally from panel. You can also set up group profile – so “summer@home”, “away” etc. Batteries changed after 9 months. You get an “alarm” when they need it. Benefits I hadn’t realised – saved 14% on gas bill & I don’t have to get up first thing to put hot water on when kids have drained system for late night shower / bath – just pick up the phone. Latterly have connected to “Alexa” which works but no-one uses it.

Best and most compatible system on the market and works perfectly reliable and without any issues if installed properly.
In some situations like controlling two or more heating zones (with zone valves and no TRV’s) only, it’s even the cheapest system on the market!
    Pros:
Perfect all way round control of your system, not only boiler on/off.
Compatible with probably all heating and hot water systems out there.
Very reliable, also easy to override in case there is a problem.
IFFT integration (geofencing, weather, other etc)

    Cons:
    App/Software could be better.
Maybe more integration into other smart devices needed (could be also considered as a positive ).
The main touch screen thermostat could be more responsive.
    no API available

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our Users— Update review January 2020 —

Now heading into our 3rd year with the system.

The issues below, which Hoenywell were useless to help with finally came down to what I think was a bug in the Honeywell account. Deleted the account, recreated the system and it has been flawless since then.

    Some things to note:

Batteries: The batteries that come with the system – Duracell Industrial – started failing after about 18 months. Replace them with these, anything else is a waste of money. Have tried multiple brands and some of them last a few weeks.

eTRV failures: The HR92 UK’s are starting to die. Have already had one fail (after about 2 years – complete death) and now have 2 others that are suspect (1 keeps reporting the batteries have died, they haven’t and can’t assess temperature any longer and the other keeps resetting to 20 degrees and running permanently). Now I know this increases the cost of the system, but I still think we are saving about 200-250 per annum, so an annual replacement doesn’t make the pay back materially worse.

    — Update review April 2019 —

So the problem happened again and as usual Honeywell were useless, but my original installer came up trumps.

My troubleshooting had made me determine that the most likely cause was the controller and he had decided that the most likely cause was a corruption to the account on the Honeywell system. So he has been brilliant and replaced the controller and did a full install again, with us creating a new account.

Fingers crossed, as the system is great.

    — Update review January 2019 —

So for the 3rd time in 9 months my system has completely died. Same issue time after time.

Honeywell are useless and simply ignore you and my installer is pulling the same line, so unfortunately, left with taking the legal route of using UK law to force a repair, replacement or refund.

Disappointing, as when it works it is brilliant, but when it doesn’t we loose everything and effectively you have to spend time doing a full install again, so 3-4 hours wasted.

Cause? No real idea. I am guessing that the controller is faulty and is suffering and intermittent failure.

    — Update review January 2019 —

Initial review below, which is very positive. It still remains a 5 * review, but if this keeps happening, then it may become a 1 * review and a return to supplier as not fit for purpose. This is an update now that I have had the system for longer and have experienced issues.

So what is happening. Twice in the last 3 months, my entire system has basically disappeared. The first time this happened, I put this down to a clitch that was introduced by Honeywell, as it coincided with maintenance over the weekend and we came home one Sunday night to nothing working (i.e. no manual controls, no control from the controller, app or anything). Things to note:

    1. They don’t pre-warn you that maintenance is occurring (see later exception below).
    2. There is no support outside of 9-5:30 Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays and even if you need help, this is email only, so as useful as a chocolate teapot

The second event occurred earlier this year – virtually identical apart from the fact that we were at home and the system was working perfectly until about midday when eTRV’s started to stop working one by one.

In both cases I had to manually create the system again, this takes time and of course while this is going on you have no heating or hot water and of course zero help from anyone. There are lots of pieces of information on the web by the way, but you have to know what bits of kit you have deployed in order to rebuild your system. In my case, I lost not only the eTRV’s, but also all the central boiler relays. It is fiddly and time consuming to bring them back on.

Contacting support is a waste of time. Their SLA is 5 working days and after that time they send you a stock email out asking for descriptions and pictures. When you respond you get nothing, zilch, zippo back. Pathetic.

Now, I said earlier that they don’t warn you about planned maintenance. Well on the 22nd January 2019, they did – the day before a month long upgrade programme. Yes they are doing an upgrade programme across Europe during January when of course, you don’t need your heating. Now this is slightly melodramatic, I admit, as the system still works manually and you still have the central controller, but that flexibility of using the app to manage the heating is removed during much of the day.

I don’t know what they are doing, but it is supposed to take a month and the fact that their back-end systems haven’t been built with resiliency in mind is astounding. The IT estate can be designed and deployed to allow you to take parts of systems down, without impacting operational delivery – IT 101 for external facing systems. I bet the Honeywell website is setup this way, but Honeywell decided that customer’s don’t deserve this once they have their money. Not impressed.

    — Original Review —

I did not buy this from Amazon, so will not show up as a verified purchase. I used Amazon and another site to keep the installer honest with respect to the price for the components.

Deployed just under a year, so was in use while the UK lived through the “Beast from the East 1 and II”.

We have an extended Edwardian house with 17 radiators. These are grouped together into 11 zones. The zones, with one exception, are all room based. The exception is the largest room, which we have 2 radiators in and these are managed independently, as while the room is large, each radiator on their own has the ability to make the room comfortable.

There are 5 of us in the house, including 3 teen/twenty somethings so you can imagine they have no set routine. The family, by and large understood how to use the system and largely picked this up quickly and the system worked perfectly once we all got it.

While Honeywell and their competitors will talk about cost savings (which I will come to later), the real advantage in my opinion is the flexibility. On days/evenings/weekends when there is just me and my wife in the house, we know that we don’t need to heat the kids rooms and the other living room, just the core of the house. Equally, when one person is at home, they can just heat the room that they are in and the bathroom that they may use, without turning the whole house on. Perfect!

Money saving does appear to have happened, despite the fact that we had, at times a hard winter, it looks like we saved about 300. Now this is an estimate, as I changed utility vendor just before the deployment and this saved some money, however, based on the usage costs from that vendor the year before and the usage from the new vendor and adjusting the numbers, it looks like the saving was real and material. This saved approximately 25-30% of our annual gas cost (assuming we cooked as much, showered as much, etc)

If you think about the cost of the system, including installation being about 1800 all told, then this gives you a 6 year pay back, however, with rates only going up and the addition of any learning costs (i.e. leaving a room on after leaving the house) then I would estimate that we should break even in 4 years and I would expect the system to continue working long after this.

So all in all, would strongly urge you to consider Evohome. The biggest challenge is finding an installer that:

    1. Will quote
    2. Will turn up

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersStill a work in progress really but so far I am more than impressed for a couple of reasons:

    1. The manual! No need to go tracking down stuff on the internet, though that doesn’t hurt. The manual has the answers and you can take it with you to the room you are connecting.
    2. The simplicity to enable the device on the internet. Create an account, link the machine to the account and you are up and running. I then downloaded the app to my phone and it is easy to use.
    3. That simplicity goes to connecting devices too. I haven’t connected the boiler yet but have started adding the TRV devices.

Just one job to go and that is to see if the old Honeywell wireless relay box (circa 2013/14) connected to my underfloor heating is compatible with this and I will be 75% of the way to full connectivity.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI installed a twelve zone version of this system in my house about 18 months ago and it is terrific. The temperature control is excellent in each zone and it is simple and intuitive to set up. Unlike some other reviews I have not found the iPhone app to be particularly unreliable although I tend to use the wall controller most of the time. It has saved considerably on my energy consumption as I have matched temperatures to the room usage profile during the day/night. If something changes its easy to raise the temp in a room and very fast to respond.

I put the HR92 valves on already installed valve bodies after removing the old TRV heads. Because the system had been installed and extended over many years there were four of five different types of head/body to fit the new HR92’s to. This was not a big problem – some fitted directly, some needed one of the adaptors the is supplied with the kit, one or two needed an additional adaptor kit (purchased from the evohome shop – their website is very good).

I’ve used a remote temperature sensor in one room because the rad valve was covered by curtains. This was very easy to add to the system and worked perfectly.

My only gripe is that Honeywell’s installation documentation needs more detail. The user book is ok and installation book only covers the basics – it doesn’t deal with the HR92 installation on old valve bodies for example. To be fair I suppose Honeywell would like you to replace them with their own.

Overall a brilliant system and far better than anything else I found when researching options. Its expensive but imho worth it.

Also das Ganze sehr empfehlenswert.

As they go, this is the best Smart heating system there is. Okay it misses a few things like geofencing but there are workarounds.

    Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExpensive, but highly controllable, easy to set up, high quality system. Can control up to 12 zones independently or whole system as one. Ask yourself if you need this panel or the internet hub which doesn’t have a display but still gives access via smartphone.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersBought this during Black Friday at a cracking price of 175.15, however it was out of stock and needed to wait until December (but it was in before Christmas).

After looking on line I decided to try installing myself which didn’t take that long, much more time was spent on research than the installation. For me, the 120 quoted by Amazon was not worth the 2 connections to the combi boiler or the 2 for power that needed to be made. I will state I’m not a qualified plumber or electrician so if you do decide to fit yourself that is your choice.

Once fully installed and set up (which took a couple of hours) I then added to Alexa. It’s very rarely I use the app when at home. App is mostly used for turning on the heating when heading home on the train.

Once I was happy the system worked I invested in the HR92 TRV and this is where it really came into its own. As it is only heating a particular room and not the whole house, it heats up so much quicker. The rooms stay at a more even temp.

I believe this is one of the more expensive smart heating system but it works so well.

    Hardware:
    Can’t fault it.

    Software:
App doesn’t allow for full set up, this needs the base controller. (Once set up I haven’t touched the base controller)
A way of viewing how long your boiler was on each day and which rooms would be a great improvement.

    Configurazione molto semplice e veloce.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersDevice looks OK (no gorilla glass or anti-smear coating you’d find on even your cheapest smart phone, but I guess Honeywell don’t make enough of these to justify the cost of such an expensive display). Easy enough to install although during set up its a bit too easy to overwrite earlier zone settings using the setup wizard – but you only do this once before you figure it out! Control protocols work well (valves open and close when they should) and range seems to be as good as promised. User interface looks OK and scheduling setup seem intuitive.

The remote app for smart phones is super basic. It should mimic the controls offered by the device itself. It does not. You can see Honeywell is a heating and controls business not a software developer. If your customers value fancy mobile apps install a Nest, not a Honeywell.

Golden Review Award: 41 From Our UsersFirst question I bet you are asking is what is in the box?

1 x BDR91A1000 Wireless Relay Box (used to turn your boiler off/on)

1 x ATC928G3000 Evohome WiFi Controller With Desk Stand And Mains Power UK / EU Power Adaptor.

I have radiators which have Honeywell thermostatic radiator valves and thus fitting HR92UK evohome Wireless Radiator Zoning Kit was very easy (I got 2×4 packs for 372.00).

Installing the Android app and setting up an account was easy and I created the heating schedules on the app rather than the device.

Before with my Honeywell Lyric T6 Wired Smart Internet Enabled Thermostat – works with Alexa , the boiler went on/off based on the hallway temperature. I now have this area set lower and can control each room individually (except bathroom, as I thought the condensation would get to the controller plus it acts as a bypass).

The Lyric is no longer in use with the BDR91 mounted in place of the Lyric boiler controller.

I am looking forward to lower gas bills and I hope the system will pay for itself in two years or so (maybe quicker if the price of gas goes up again).

I should say the package made absolutely no mention of Alexa support but I see there is an Alexa app to link the systems together but reading reviews you have to be very clever to name your rooms unique so Alexa can understand you.

I am just going to stick with the app which gives you full control in or away from home (no option to geo-locate turn on/off your heating in the current app).
