Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersGreat gun. Works as described.
    HOWEVER: I only wish they would send you other sized tips because I am constantly having trouble getting solder out of through-hole components {in the actual holes!}

Leaving the gun on an area of the board that could potentially damage other nearby components could easily be avoided by providing different sized tips. Even .25mm (quarter of a mm) difference would be huge for sucking solder out of holes from the many different sizes of components there are. Capacitor? No problem. Bodge wire? easy. The charging port on a laptop? Almost impossible unless you’re either lucky, or know some tricks.

You know what I mean, those longer/wider solder joints that don’t fit in the suction hole.

Make bigger hole tips available! Please!
That would make this gun a game changer.

But seeing as though I only received 1 tip, I’m stuck with what I got.

I have no complaints about the desoldering gun. It works. My concerns are:
    1. There are no instructions available in English.
    2. Spare parts may be difficult to source.

I asked the company for English instructions. They sent me an email with the following text. Make of it what you will:

How to use the tin cleaner

First of all, you need to find a spring inside the manual solder extractor with a rubber handle. When using it, first press the sliding rod at the end of the pot sucker. When you hear a “click”, it means that the solder extractor has been fixed, then Use a soldering iron to heat the contact, melt the solder on the contact, slowly move the solder sucker close to the contact, and finally press the button on the solder sucker to suck the solder. Of course, if you are not successful, you can repeat the above steps.

Tips for using the tin suction device:

    1. First check whether the piston seal of the tin absorber is good. You can use your fingers to block the small hole of the tin absorber before energizing, and then press the button. If you find that the piston is not easy to pop into place, it means the sealing is good. .

    2. The aperture of the tin suction head has different sizes, of course, you must choose the appropriate size specifications before use to ensure safety

    3. After using the tin suction head for a long time, remember to replace it with a new one.

    4. Before touching the solder joints, dip a little rosin every time to improve the fluidity of the solder

    5. The contact time of the head should be longer. After the solder melts, take the solder pin as the center, and draw a circle clockwise outward with your hand, and then press the button of the solder sucke

This unit works just fine. It heats up very quickly and removes the solder. Additional tips would have been nice but for most of the work I’ll be doing the one tip is good.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis was my first time using a vacuum desoldering gun. It works much much better than the old solder-sucker or bulb type tools. I bought it for one job and it performed perfectly. I couldn’t justify spending 3 times the price on the Hakko tool of this type for the one job, however, if you are using it in a production environment the Hakko has a better reputation for quality.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis desoldering gun is a great little workhorse. I bought it because I do a lot of DIY electronics and needed something better than my old hand pump solder-sucker. The desoldering gun has worked great on everything I’ve tried so far, and it removed all the solder, making it easy to take out the components. It’s also easy to clean and I haven’t had any trouble with it so far.
