My Favorite DAC/Amp
While I have limited experience with DAC and amps, I’ve fallen in love with the iFi Hip-dac2. It pairs perfectly with my HD6XX. I own a Schiit Magni, Modi, Modius, DarkVoice 336SE and the Drop + THX AAA 789 amp. All of these are great DACs and amplifiers and I am happy to have them, but I can say with absolute certainty that my favorite is the iFi Hip-dac2.
If I had to nitpick, the only downside to the iFi Hip-dac2 is that the battery life is not as long as I would like it to be. If you want to pick up a iFi Hip-dac2, there is no reason to hesitate.
Compared this DAC headphone amplifier to my nephews which cost him $200 more than this one and both sounded excellent. Quality was identical. Well worth the value and convenience.

Lo uso con unos Fostex T60RP Y los mueve sin ningn problema adems de que el bass bost agrega ese realce en los bajos que les hace falta a los audfonos hacindolos sper disfrutables y adictivos de escuchar. Nice mobile DAC for iPhone
This is my first mobile DAC, so I am not the one able to adequately judge the sound quality. For me with my Hifiman Sundara it sounds excellent, better than the Schiit Hel 2 I have on my desktop. The reason why I wanted to write this review is because it was difficult for me to understand how this would work with an iPhone, and what kind of additional cables I might need. To be clear, several reviews here are misleading in this regard or outright not correct. Whether this is a version issue, I am not sure, but for me the connection was completely straight forward and as follows:
First, the nook in the device perfectly fits the standard Apple Lightning to USB Camera adapter. While there is no fitting cable included, this is really the only additional cable you need to connect the device to your iPhone with Lightning.
The second additional cable is a balanced headphone cable that connects to your headphones. Which one will depend on your headphones, but on the DAC side you will want a 4.4mm balanced connector. This is optional, but I highly recommend it.
So, if you go from scratch with your iPhone you should get the hip dac2, an Apple Lightning to USB camera adapter and optionally a balanced headphone cable, and that’s all you need.
So, would I buy it again? Probably not, because having listened with this for quite some time, while all is excellent, I probably would opt for a device with additional Bluetooth functionality. The short connection between iPhone and DAC works well when you are sitting on a desk, but when you are on the go etc, this becomes quite clunky and inconvenient. It would be nice to leave the whole headphone+DAC wherever it is, while conveniently using your iPhone by itself to select music.

A smaller unit than I anticipated, but that is a good thing and my my, I am now getting the full potential out of my Amiron headphones. I was finding it hard to justify spending extra money on a DAC after forking out a small fortune on some premium headphones but I am so glad I did now. Meshuggah never sounded so good!
This little monster is quite a showstopper. Don’t want to be without it. Sound is great. Drove my Sennheiser 650 with power to spare and sounding great. Ditto for Hifiman Sundara and Audeze Lcd 2 closed back. It is what it is pretty perfect at this size and cost.

ROON e MQA ready
Ottimo rapporto qualit prezzo. Viene rilevato da ROON e da Tidal con piena compatibilit MQA. Unica pecca la mancanza del cavo lighting per iPhone, serve il camera adaptator da 30! E si rompe pure perch troppo corto. Per ora testato su jack 3.5 con Sundara e IEM i30

Ho sempre ascoltato le mie cuffie attraverso la classica uscita dedicata dei vari amplificatori HiFi che ho avuto e ho tutt’ora.
Questo mio primo amplificatore tutta un’altra cosa. Mi ha soddisfatto appieno, considerando che non avrei speso di pi per un accessorio del genere.
Per me molto bene sia il tasto Bass , sia il tasto Power Match. Forse quest’ultimo ancora meglio, perch non aggiunge solo potenza, ma anche una sensazione di maggiore dinamica.
Anche la durata della batteria pi che buona. Sicuramente supera le 4 ore.
L’unico segno meno lo darei per il fatto che all’accensione il mio player non riconosce subito l’amplificatore e “suona” con i suoi altoparlanti integrati. Questione di qualche secondo, o in alternativa fare off e on all’amplificatore.
Non posso dare meno di 5 stelle…

Sound Quality
Like everything related to sound it is completely subjective. For me, this makes a discernable upgrade to the sound quality of my iphone. How much of an upgrade depends on a few things – primarily what quality of music you are streaming and what quality of headphones you are using. I’m using this with Beyerdynamic Amiron’s, streamed via Qobuz, and I’m very happy with what I am hearing.
Worth noting that there is a ‘powermatch’ button which is used to match the power output to your headphones. Without this on the sound was good but nothing amazing. When switched on (recommended for above headphones) there was a big difference.
There is also an ‘xbass’ bass enhancer – this works but can be overpowering on certain types of music.
Build
Build quality seems excellent. I really like having an analogue volume control rather than buttons and everything feels and looks great.
Portability
This is certainly portable in as much as it is about the size of a small mobile phone. When it is less portable is when it is connected to the source – as mentioned, I use this with my iphone and the pair are quite chunky to fit in your pocket together.
Value for money
Overall I have given the HipDac2 4 stars because to use it with an iphone requires another 30 outlay to get the right cable. This pushes the overall price to over 200 which is a significant outlay. Personally I think it is worth it but it is worth having a think about how you will use it – if for example you listen to low quality streamed music through cheap ear buds you are unlikely to get your moneys worth. But get the right set up and this takes your music to a different level.
Overall, very happy.

Sounds Great, Build Needs Work
I want to preface this review with the fact that I was previously using the Fiio E10k, a 50-100 dollar usb powered dac/amp. The Hip-DAC pushes out some serious sound for its small build and modest price tag. I have been using two very different headphones with this dac/amp (Sennheiser HD600 (300 ohm) and Audio Technica ATH-M40x (35 ohm)). The Hip-DAC volume output is very similar to the E10K and is still more than bearable at the highest volume. The biggest difference between this dac/amp in the E10k is the clarity and spectrum that is now audible with this dac/amp. The XBass feature is GREAT for electronic, pop and dance music while turning it off delivers an optimal experience for listeners who prefer an unaltered and leveled experience. This dac/amp was able to do something I hadn’t thought was possible with my previous dac/amp. I was able to completely transform my HD600s into a bassy, FUN set of headphones with XBass. I can now comfortably listen to EDM, Pop, Rap and other bassy genres with my open backs. Sound quality and clarity is top notch with these headphones BUT I do have some things I’m not a huge fan of regarding build
1. The volume control knob – This knob sticks out quite a bit from the front of the unit. I always worry that I’m going to break it off or ruin the chrome finish with it sticking out. It becomes the only non-flush part of this dac amp and gets caught on everything!
2. The USB-A extension cable – in order to use this dac/amp with anything you need to carry around this eyesore of a cable and pray you don’t lose it (it’s designed to fit your dac amp perfectly with its recessed USB-A male connector). The color reminds me of the bright blue Ethernet cables and difficult to hide if carrying out in public. Definitely out of place for such a well designed product.
3. Lack of an included case – the finish on this product is BEAUTIFUL. It’s a burnt orange and looks/works great if it’s home is going to be on your desk it’s whole life. IF you’re going to carry this device around however, the finish is VERY scratchable and I fear of putting it in my pocket due to this fact. A thin cloth case is a MUST if you’re going to be using this on the go.
Overall the sound of this dac/amp is GREAT, the build quality is OK (looks great, practicality is meh), the indicator and number of protocols/bitrates this dac/amp supports is a HUGE bonus and I think if you’re looking for a dac/amp with great sound and lots of features this is the one for you.

I’ve been debating between the Apple Airpods Max and this + Sennheiser HD560.
It’s not even a comparison.
The sound quality (I listen to Tidal Masters) of this DAC is phenomenal. Even an untrained ear will be blown away (my kids are wowed).
Happily returned the Airpods Max and kept this kit.
Hard to listen to music with anything else nowyou just realize how much you’re missing.

La potenza dell’amplificatore e notevole gia con luscita SE, migliora ulteriormente con la connessione in bilanciato. Con la Sennheiser HD599 ad esempio o con la phidelio X2 , il potenziometro non arriva mai a met corsa.
Non possiede un uscita linea, quindi destinato ad amplificare cuffie o IEMS. Presenta un controllo di guadagno – utile- e un tasto xbass, ben funzionante e non invadente.
La cosa di gran lunga migliore il suono. tendendte al caldo ma molto dettagliato e dinamico. l’estensione in basso come in alto notevole. la gamma bassa e correttamente frenata .Glia alti sono rifinitissimi ma non affaticanti.
la gamma media timbricamente da applauso. La scena sonora ampia profonda , con i singoli strumenti ben a fuoco. Voci eccellenti, sia maschili che femminili. IFI hip DAC 2 molto musicale,sia in relazione al prezzo che su una scala assoluta.
Il confronto con un Topping DX 3 PRO imbarazzante per il cinese. Batte anche dongle DAC di buon livello, corretti ma con un suono piatto a confronto dell IFI.
Quali sono i limiti reali di questo DAC?
Prima di tutto non cosi portatile. Comodo per casa o in ufficio non il massimo come portabilit
all’esterno. Il cavo OTG in dotazione, molto rigido, non aiuta in questo senso.
Forse qualche utente potrebbe trovare UTILE un piccolo schermo lcd.
Per me si tratta di un prodotto strepitoso che vale pi di quello che costa. Ha bisogno di una cuffia molto buona per dare il meglio di se.
iFi hip-dac2
Acquistato pochi giorni fa. Lo sto usando con un iphone11 e Tidal collegato a delle Sennheiser cablate di vecchia data. Che dire, ora il suolo e’ tutta un’altra cosa. Lo sto utilizzando anche collegato in pre a un Sansui AU6900 con delle HPM100. Siamo su un altro pianeta. Sono molto soddisfatto. Ora non resta che pensare a un buon paio di auricolari e poi trovare il tempo per ascoltare musica come non mai.

I’ve looked in to many pocket DACs, and I’m glad I settled on this one. It checks all the boxes. Almost as thin as a phone, balanced output, driverless, and modularity. Setting aside audiophile pickiness, for me, convenience features are more important for a mobile solution. I wish everything had the recessed USB A connection. It feels more sturdy to be shoved in a pocket than any other option. My only wish is that when charging, it would also act as a power pass through to charge the device it’s on. Being driverless means it works with anything willing to offload audio processing. Even a Nintendo Switch Lite. As far as audio goes, it sounds great. I really can’t elaborate much more than that. There’s no hindrance to stereo separation and what they call sound stage and imaging. It just plays sound the way it was intended with no coloration, until you use the bass boost for fun. Paired with a HD650, 95% of the time, the bass boost tapers off right before the vocal range. Which is the perfect pair for movies, TV shows, and even most YouTube videos. The only real issue I’ve found is more or less a compatibility issue. Not the fault of the HipDAC, and more of Apple’s fault. Every dongle I’ve tried with it works flawlessly except the official Apple Lightning to “camera” dongle. It gets some rhythmic digital noise, almost like a GSM signal. Sometimes it goes away. Other times the HipDAC stops working and you have to turn it off and on. Why it’s an Apple problem, is because Lightning is only capable of USB 2.0 standards and speed. I feel like the noise and crash is because it sometimes bottlenecks, or the timing gets too far out of sync. It never happens with any form of USB 3.0 cable.
What a thing this is!
If you like how your little white headphones sound listening to streaming mp3 then this isn’t for you but if you want to extract the very best from you digital media and headphones then this thing is quite something. I’ve always known cabled connections are better than Bluetooth but a friend kept going on about headphone amps so I thought I’d try this one. The hifi magazines seem to like it so worth a try. Well, it just brings a whole new dimension to my music, regardless of which headphones I use. My cheap in ears sound so much better but it’s not until you plug your more expensive ones in you realise what you’ve been missing. I use Shure Aonic 4s for in ear and Sony MDR-1As for over ear and the hipDAC brings them to life. More than enough power to drive the bigger ones with plenty of weight and detail in whatever music you like. There’s a handy power boost for larger, more demanding cans, and a bass boost which is effective if a little bit boomy, but it depends what you like.
So, criticisms. This is a bit churlish in a way because it’s not directly the hipDAC that’s at fault but the connecting cables. They are on the short side and it seems impossible to find sensible length ones. There’s probably a technical reason but it can make things fiddly. Also if you’re an iPhone user you’ll need to budget in a camera connection kit as you only get USBa and USBc included.

Best way to get the most out of your mobile audio
This was my first portable DAC and I have been very pleased with the results. I have these paired with an IPhone or IPad – but have a lightning connector – so I had to use a lightning to USB connector. I recommend getting the Apple one as I’ve had issues with 3rd party ones losing connection mid song- forcing me to reboot the device. The wiring/ daisy chaining is a little ridiculous but gets the job done, I posted a picture of my setup near my nightstand. I wouldn’t really recommend this setup for any sort of activity or where you’ll be actively moving around but if you’re determined to make that work I could see it happening. Overall I’d say this device (like most portable dacs) are for the “want to go sit and listen somewhere else” crowd.
The iFi is easy to use and has a sturdy feel to it , though the push buttons on the side of mine have a loose rattle to them that is annoying and not something I appreciate on an audio devices. This doesn’t impact the functionality , but definitely distracts from an otherwise solid build quality.
I use this iFi with my set of older Grado SR125’s and it’s like a whole new world of sound on these. Very warm and gives a much fuller stage with significantly less ear fatigue. I have also plugged these into my computer with some Logitech 2.1 speakers and have gotten further impressive results that really help open up even mediocre speakers. The tidal MQA support is a nice to have but I’m not sure I get the value out of it with my current speakers/headphones, but Tidal recognizes the device instantly and effortlessly as supporting MQA so that’s a plus.
Price is a bit higher than some other portable
DACs but this device performs really well and offers some great portability and support for more modern connections.
I think this iFI is a great value, and are a great entry into portable hi-if for the uninitiated with instantly recognizable improvements to sound, while also giving the audiophile gear heads plenty of room to pedantically debate on how this compares with thousands of dollars of other higher end equipment.

This is an incredible piece of kit. Tried today for the first time properly playing my go-to test track, I am the Sea, the first track on Quadrophenia by The Who where the sound of the stormy seas at the beginning tend to become almost just noise as the track progresses even with some expensive headphones. Played on a Galaxy S20 SE the storm sounds were so impressive you could almost hear individual drops of rain falling in the guttering along with the crashing of the waves and the bell and cat sounds along with Daltrey’s vocals were absolutely clear, with the burst of Entwhistles bass coming in fabulously at the end of these effects.
Now the downside, and the reason for the 4-star review. The bundled cables are an unbranded and unmitigated disaster. The USB C to Female USB connector supplied didn’t work at all. As I was aware that Amazon would advise returning the product for a replacement with the hassle this represents, I contacted iFi hoping that they might send one of their cables or at least give a small discount on the purchase of one as I was pretty certain the issue was the cable. The response was to contact Amazon for a replacement DAC. Bought an iFi branded cable instead which is brilliant, so why not bundle this in the first place. Companies really do themselves no favours in this type of situation as there is no shortage of alternatives. Would I go back to iFi, probably, as the quality of the main product is excellent at the price, but I would now certainly give more attention to alternatives than I otherwise would have. PS iFi your customer support page is horrible. Rant over!!
Owners of Beyerdynamic headphones beware of the 3.5mm plug fittings
I really can’t add anything that others haven’t said. I really like it. 2 caveats to be aware of. One: The higher end Apple Lightning to Camera adaptor cable is too big to fit it the opening of the USB A slot so you’ll have to purchase the first edition of the cable ( the one that has the smaller housing ).
Second: The 3.5 male plug of my Beyerdynamic 770 Pro does not fit into the 3.5 female opening on the amp. If the Beyerdynamic 880 and 990 use the same plug, that problem may also exist.

The bass boost (which I am sure is just a filter turned off when you hit Bass Boost) is a boon especially when listening to serious Jazz Bass music and of coursw Reggae. Came with all the correct connectors. (I already had the lightening camera connector for my Wife's iPhone) I love the design like a hip flask and the colour is straight of sixties chic. Este DAC pode funcionar de duas formas distintas. Como um DAC porttil ligado a um telemovel para fornecer uma qualidade de som que o telemovel no consegue fornecer, usando phones de boa qualidade. Tambm pode ser usado como um DAC desktop ligado a um PC, fornecendo aqui tambm uma qualidade de som que a maioria das placas/chips de som no conseguem fornecer. Neste modo, ligamos o DAC via USB-A para a transmisso da informao musical, e ligamos via USB-C a um adaptador AC ou a outro porto USB do PC para fornecer energia ao DAC.
Seja de que modo se usar, o resultado fant’stico a nivel sonoro. Obviamente para tirar proveito do som, obrigatrio usar phones/auscultadores de qualidade… Os produtos iFi so excelentes.
Quanto ao servio de transporte, a encomenda foi entregue em menos de 24h em Lisboa, portanto, excelente servio por parte da empresa distribuidora da marca iFi em Espanha. Recomendo!
El hip DAC es un excelente DAC para poder utilizarlo con tu laptop, tablet o celular.
En cuanto a materiales tiene excelente calidad de construccin y ese color naranja est increble (eso depende de los gustos y es muy subjetivo). Los botones se sienten slidos y la rueda de volumen de excelente calidad. Su tamao es bastante compacto para lo que es (y su potencia de amplificacin).
Decid comprar este DAC y hacerlo mi segundo (el primero fue iFi Zen DAC) ya que me gusta esta firma de sonido, bastante clida y sabrosa, tiene muy buena extensin en graves (no necesito usar el Extra Bass, al menos no con mis audfonos Sennheiser IE300), y bastante claridad en medios; los agudos se sienten redondeados y poco o nada sibilantes.
Utilizo el Hip DAC con Apple Music Lossless y Hi-Res Lossless, lo he utilizado con un iPad Pro, un iPhone y una MacBook y va increblemente bien.
En general, es una gran opcin para llevar al trabajo, a la oficina, o andar por ah y tener una buena calidad de audio.
Pros:
+ Buen sonido, clido y claro.
+ Buen bajo.
+ Excelentes materiales de construccin.
+ Bonito color (subjetivo).
Contras:
– Puede ser muy grande para algunas personas, sobre todo incmodo para llevrtelo en tu pantaln.
– Si eres usuario de iOS (iPhone) necesitars un adaptador u OTG.

Recomendado.
L’ho uso sia con il Mac Pro m1 che con il mio iphpne 12 mini, spettacolare e non dovete fare nulla, parlo di aggiungere software, niente dovete solo collegarlo e il segreto accendere poi spegnere e riaccendere e si collega subito. Per quanto riguarda l’iPhone 12 mini dovete comprare il famoso adattatore mentre con il Mac lo collegare tranquillamente con la civetteria a disposizione.
Great DAC - well constructed and great sound but I found the mqa signal would drop when attach d to a cell phone - I use a iPhone 8. Signal would drop when notifications ding occurred and would require me to pause the music and start the music again to get the music going. This occurred on tidal but didn’t occur on Spotify. Otherwise great DAC.

Signal would drop when notifications ding occurred and would require me to pause the music and start the music again to get the music going. This occurred on tidal but didn’t occur on Spotify. Otherwise great DAC.
Direi ottimo dac per il costo, che per molti pu essere alto in ambito musicale non nemmeno troppo. A livello di suono si riconosce l’impronta ifi. Sicuramente consigliabile per tutte quelle persone che non si accontentano del qualit audio del proprio cellulare, e non vogliono spendere per un dac portatile tipo fiio m11. Consigliato per qualit durata batteria e sicuramente anche qualit costruttiva.
I got this unit thinking I could have something portable with my phone that would rival my desktop system. It’s got balanced output which I wanted and does the complete mqa decoding unfold.
Well they say the the best is the enemy of the good and that is definitely the case here. While I liked very much the sound of this at first, comparing it to my Hegal D90 headphone output it looses a bit of the magic. The Hegal is single ended and doesn’t do mqa but still bests this unit by enough of a margin I decided to return it.
It does sound better than my Motorola edge plus but I wanted something as good as my Hegal on the go. For $200 I guess it’s pretty good and if I didnt have the Hegal to compare it to I might have kept it. Keep in mind I’m listening to $3k Focal Stellas with $400 Black Dragon cables. For other cans things might be different. Hope someone finds this as good information.
I agree with some other reviewers in that a usb-c input method with a switch for charging would be an ideal solution. That being said, other than that, this thing is incredible. I use it with my Sennheiser HD600’s out of the 4.4mm balanced port. While I’m not much of an audiophile, the HD600’s absolutely sing with this. I never thought the bass with the 600’s was bad, but the bass boosting feature on the hip dac makes this, in my opinion, a perfectly acceptable end game setup. Not to mention the build quality and especially the volume wheel is great. Super nice to use and feels like it’ll last a long time. I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a more portable amp/dac solution in the $200 range. The only thing is I hope they release an updated version with better input options. So basically 4.9/5 stars
Great DAC Great Sound
Wanted a medium priced DAC/Amp to listen to High Res music streaming, so I read a lot of reviews and decided to go for the iFi Hip-Dac 2. What can I say, the sound quality is great and the sound volume goes way above what my mobile can push out. Overall works very well and produces a very clear sound with a little bit extra volume under the hood if needed, works very well with my Moondrop Blessing 2’s iem and definitely brings out that extra sound quality. I would definitely recommend the iFi Hip-Dac2 to anyone who wants to listen to High Res on their mobile.

Hard for more to be comparative in my view of those product as its my first Headphone DAC/AMP but I thoroughly enjoy sticking it on and listening to music.
I’m already on the look out for a desktop DAC/AMP as I think there’s more to be gained from a bit more money but for what is a relatively cheap product, this sounds, looks and feels fantastic.

Adquir este DAC/AMP luego de mucho revisar y comparar entre este y otros de similar calidad / precio, sin embargo creo que por sus prestaciones, versatilidad y calidad, la eleccin era obvia.
Su sonido, sin ser analtico, revela y controla muy bien, aun cuando en algunos casos puede considerarse clido, sin embargo no produce estridencias ni superposiciones contundentes que arruinen tu escucha; perdona en algo las grabaciones mal hechas y de cierta forma “ayuda”.
Para tamao y prestaciones es perfectamente capaz de mover fcilmente un sinnmero de auriculares IEM y overear, gracias a un posiblidad de generar mayor ganancia con solo apretar un botn, obviamente no pretendas que mueva con facilidad cosas de 300Ohms o arriba, pero tampoco se queda varado.
Su terminacin es muy buena, su combinacin de materiales con una carcaza de aluminio color naranja ocre texturizado, botones en color grafito anodizado y las reas de conectores en negro mate con acentos dorados para la conexin de salida balanceada 4.4mm y USB audio, generan una sensacin premium en mano muy destacada.
La duracin de su batera es excelente y su carga es relativamente rpida en comparacin. Debo aclarar que nunca llegu a pasar del 50% de ganancia de volumen por ser insoportable.
El factor extra bass podra ser apreciable para algunos, sin embargo NO ES PARA NADA enfocado a los BASSHEADS, no se cmo lo hacen pero aporta la cantidad justa de graves y en especial de sub graves con un muy buen control, quizs til para ciertos gneros especficos (hip hop, techno) para ocasiones en las que quieras irte un poco a que te vibre la cabeza y el cuerpo, pero no es realmente obligatorio y debo confesarlo, soy amante de los buenos y profundos sub graves.
Las voces e instrumentos en el rango medio suenan increblemente bien para el tamao de este aparato, muy claros, muy “redondeados” sin perder la naturalidad y de cierta manera la precisin.
En la parte de los altos debo confesar que tienen una extensin bastante buena, controlan bien esas “s” o “sh” de ciertas voces o instrumentos, pero sin perder el “cuerpo”, hay casos, sin embargo en que le es complejo dar mayor profundidad a la escena, obviamente tambin debe mirarse con cuales auriculares lo pruebas, pero en cuanto a la imagen de escena sonora, este aparto es una belleza.
Los nicos contras quizas seran. 1. Que la funda de proteccin de iFi no venga includa en el paquete; 2. Que no traiga bluetooth, esto es entendible porque para eso est el iFi GO Blu que es una bestia de la portabilidad y HipDac V2 est mas orientado a entornos “desktop travel”, no tanto a ultraportabilidad y 3. Que los cables de audio, para ser mas estticos, no viniesen por ejemplo, como los cables trenzados de los IEMs, eso sera una joya.

The DAC Stops Here
After going through numerous DAC/amps I finally settled on this updated model. It has a very solid build and sounds wonderful, a very warm and full sound. I use this mostly with my FiiO M11 (via USB) to power my Sennheiser 660S headphones via the 4.4mm balanced output. Plenty of power to spare. The option to match the impedence of the headphones works well as does the bass boost which helps some of the missing low end from the 660S w/o muddying the highs or mids.

Agrega mucho detalle a tu musica, lo probe con diferentes auriculares y brinda una experiencia muy agradable, si lo combinas con un buen par de audifonos la experiencia es sorprendente, es como escuchar musica nueva cada vez que recorres tu playlist, escucharas detalles que no sabias que estaban en tus canciones. Es capaz de mover auriculares sensibles asi como un tanto demandantes, lo prob con iems fiio fh3, beyerdynamic dt 990 pro 250 ohms y ath msr7b y todo excelente, con audifonos muy sensibles podrias escuchar un poco de ruido de piso pero nada que sea molesto. Un producto muy recomendable.

I have a well known high end $1,700 DAC/Player that stopped playing, so I needed to send it in for repairs. I didn’t want to stop playing my music so I hooked up my old HipDac1 to iPhone and it was ok – but not near as good as my $1,700 player. Then I saw there was an improved HipDac 2 so I thought I’d give it a try while I waited for my Player to be repaired. WELL, The sound is so AMAZINGLY clear and punchy that I don’t think I will go back to my expensive player! The sound is fuller with more Bass, slightly less detail in some music, but VERY slightly, and overall the HipDac 2 sound, for what I play (a lot of classic rock), is simply more enjoyable more robust and lively. Especially for the cost, this is the real deal, amazing high end sound at a TRUE bargain. UPDATE: I ended up returning my $1700 DAC, I kept the HipDac2 (and also purchased an iFi Go Blu – for using wired headphones ‘wirelessly’) – I use the Go Blu for running in the gym on an indoor track and the HipDac2 I use while on exercise machines and everything else.

The cables with this are a bit of a hassle. A female USB-A port for your input connect means you have to at least also carry a dongle with this. Maybe that won’t annoy you. It annoys me. The implementation on the FiiO Q3 is a little better there where it takes a USB-C and if you don’t want it sucking power from your phone you can flip a switch to turn charging off.
Sound quality is good. XBass button works well and love the pentacon output.
First, confession I love Ifi products. Second, I was with a very big Japanese electronics manufacturer which made Walkmans and PlayStations. Third, I love Music especially if it’s hi res.
Ifi Hip Dac2. Yep it does what it says on the product blurb. The Uk tech press wows about Chord. They are good but are they great? You spend that sort of money and you are in the rarefied world of high end DAC’s chasing the elusive dream of perfect music.
Back to the Hip Dac 2. I had Hip Dac 1 and thought it was right up there. I have Mojo,Zen, Diablo and idsd and this can compete with the very best. I have used AKG N40 (now discontinued), Grado 325S, Sony XM4 but with the wire and the Hip Dac 2 delivers in spades. The processor is the same as the Diablo (more expensive Ifi Dac). The USB C charging is a plus. My streaming platform is Qobuz but the MQA masters will be a real big plus for Tidal Users. I love the Burr Brown chip as it warms up the music.
Conclusion. Buy yes. Especially if you want pin sharp clarity from your phone or portable music player. I hitched my DAC2to Sony’s Zx 500 and also to my A&K Norma and Kann and it stepped up their presentation. Most noticeable uplift was my Hi res streaming via my iPhone.
Product build and quality fantastic.
Any gripes- Would have preferred the pricing around 150 – 160 but versus the venerable Mojo this is a winner. Cases and accessories unnecessarily pricey.
HIP HIP HURRAY.
I was seriously contemplating this dac vs blu go.
After researching and reviewing I ultimately chose this as the sound quality on this dac is superior to the Bluetooth version.
After a few days. This was the correct choice.
Build. It’s robust, metal and of premium high quality material. The functionality and layering of buttons is easy and beautiful designed. It has “A what we say, chic le freak ” feel. Front has the power boost and bass buttons. Power to match your headphones impedance. Bass is obviously added base but with a delicious flavour to kick. Sort of like a cocktail bass kick.
Sound. To be the man, you have to beat the man( rick flair)
I always though high quality headphones would be suffice. I recently purchased Grado sr80x and these are super amazing headphones, read my review for this.

Cuando lo compre, lo hice por recomendacin de un canal de YouTube, hasta que lo cargue por completo, entend lo que era un DAC Amplificador para audfonos de alto desempeo, creo que es absolutamente increble, posee una riqueza de tonos bajos, medios y agudos muy extensa, s, usas auriculares in ears es increble como mueve los drivers, s, usas auriculares overears, suenan igual los llena por completo, no importa que impedancia manejen este DAC puede mover todo sin problemas, es divertido y el control de bajos le da un tono ms interesante, entretenido, creo sin dudas que adquir el mejor dispositivo para escuchar msica, en cualquier formato, lo prob con TIDAL, y ha sido una experiencia auditiva muy satisfactoria, hasta el momento los he probado con audfonos tan sencillos como los de Monoprice, funciona excelente y con audfonos de experiencia audiofilo como los Sennheiser HD599 y HD660S, es una compra qu entrega una claridad, de sonido muy respetable, lo mejor de todo es porttil.
Ich habe mir den ifi dac2 gekauft um im Auto Spotify via Handy und Aux Anschluss zu hren. Ohne Verstrker (Direktanschluss Handy an Aux Autoradio) war die Lautstrke viel zu gering. Der Anschluss des ifi ist fast problemlos, Strom ber USB A an USB c vom ifi, Klinke/Klinke fr Ausgang ifi an Eingang Autoradio. Fr die Verbindung Handy/iFi braucht man ein USB C am Handy zu USB A Buchse am iFi…
Das Ergebnis ist aber sehr gut, die Leistung des iFi ist absolut ausreichend um im Auto auch richtig laut Musik zu hren, die Soundqualitt ist ebenfalls sehr gut, da der DAC des Hanies nicht benutzt wird. Ausserdem kann man fr noch bessere Soundqualitt auf dem Handy auch flac oder hochauflsende Formate speichern, der ifi versteht viele Dateiformate. Der Sound der spotify Dateien reicht mir persnlich aber.
Fazit: nicht gerade gnstig aber dafr sehr gute Qualitt, besser eine einmalige Investition in diesen Verstrker als diverse China Kopfhrerverstrker auszuprobieren und dann zu entsorgen.

Adds the missing quality to my music listening with an increase in volume as well , needed one of these for years . Cables supplied are too short need to be another 20 cm longer then not pulling on connection between the Dad and iPad (usb c connection) . This would allow the hip dac to sit properly on my music desk surface.
ich benutze den hip dac in kombination mit einem beyerdynamic dt990 pro 80ohm. ich wollte einen portablen dac/amp hauptschlich fr zuhause (damit ich zb. beim putzen, kochen usw. mobil musik hren kann). auerdem schaue ich alle filme ber ein ipad mit kopfhrern und dem hip dac. beim filmeschauen ist die xbass funktion perfekt. satter bass, gute hhen. die lautstrke lsst sich schn stufenlos ber den drehknopf regeln. man hat das gefhl man sitzt im kino. die xbass funktion ist mir jedoch beim musikhren zu extrem, teilweise klingen dadurch die stimmen verzerrt, aber es ist auch absolut nicht notwendig xbass beim musikhren zu aktivieren. alles klingt so viel besser als ohne verstrker. mein 80 ohm kopfhrer war vorher etwas schwach bei der lautstrke und klang (liegt wohl auch an den 80 ohm) wenn ich sie direkt an das iphone oder ipad angeschlossen habe. jetzt habe ich das gefhl ich hole alles aus dem kopfhrer heraus. jedes lied klingt auf einmal sehr viel voller, auch minimal wrmer, punchiger bass, klare hhen und mitten. high res audio mit apple music ist nun mglich. die lautstrke drehe ich ungefhr auf 50% wenn gain zugeschaltet wird. ich denke, dass hochohmigere kopfhrer genauso gut betrieben werden knnen da die ausgangsleistung an den kopfhrer anpasst wird (die funktion ist bei mir immer eingeschaltet).
die verarbeitung ist hochwertig, nichts klappert. ich war erst etwas skeptisch bezglich der farbe, das blau des hipdac 1 hat mir auf bildern eher zugesagt, jedoch ist das orange in real viel dunkler als auf den bildern, ein wirklich wunderschner farbton. auch die knpfe und der drehschalter sind in real viel dunkler (spacegray/anthrazit) und passend hervorragend zum dunklen orange/braun.
natrlich macht es das telefon beim portablen gebrauch etwas globiger, aber das war ja absehbar. wenn ich etwas bemngeln wrde, dann den female usb port. ein einfacher usbc port wre viel simpler gewesen, man knnte schnere kabel benutzen. auch htte man fr iphones dann kein camera kit usba adapter dazu kaufen mssen. warum ein female usba port verbaut wurde erschliet sich mir nicht. aber das wusste ich ja schon vor dem kauf, deswegen ziehe ich dafr auch keinen stern ab.
desweiteren lohnt sich das teil nur fr hochwertigere hochohmigere kopfhrer (ja dt990 80ohm ist kein highend hochohm kopfhrer, aber ich komme aus der chifi ecke). der unterschied im klangvolumen und soundstage ist gravierend. bei billigkopfhrern zb. earpods merkt man klanglich eigentlich gar keinen unterschied. an einem koss porta pro ist der hipdac fast etwas zu viel des guten, zu viel punch, kann leicht anstengend sein. aber das ist natrlich subjektiv. tin audio t2 die fast schon einen negativen bass haben, bekommen mit dem hip dac minimal mehr bass, sie klingen aber immer noch wie blechdosen. fr soetwas wre es meiner meinung nach geldverschwendung.
alles in allem bin voll und ganz zufrieden mit dem hip dac, es ist genau das was ich wollte, quasi eine leistungsstarke externe soundkarte.
perfekter klang ohne rauschen, portabel, starke ausgangsleistung, wunderschne verarbeitung und design. eine gute investition, wenn man keinen kopfhrerverstrker hat, etwas portables braucht, oder den klang seiner kopfhrer aufwerten will.

Provate a installare HQplayer (mille volte meglio di foobar2000 ), aprite un file dsd in modalit directDSD, ascoltate in cuffie buone e sar come ascoltare musica per la prima volta.

Un DAC eccellente nella fascia di prezzo, tanto da poterlo confrontare direttamente con apparati simili in fascia ben pi alta. L’IFI DAC 2 anche bello da vedere, non ingombrante, suona bene. Accoppiato con una Sennheiser HD 599 restituisce dettaglio, ampiezza ed anche un certa profondit sonora. Attivando i filtri sul frontale i bassi diventano profondi, le voci equilibrate e calde quanto basta, buoni gli alti. Facile l’ upgrade del firmware in ambiente macOS Monterey 12.0.1: si esegue il download del firmware (nel mio caso il 7.3c),chiaramente con dac collegato ed acceso, si autorizza il sistema nel caso impedisse l’apertura della applicazione, facendo clic sul pulsante “Apri comunque” nel pannello Generali delle preferenze “Sicurezza e Privacy”. Il pulsante disponibile per circa un’ora dopo che si tenta di aprire l’app. OTTIMO
Ottimo dac per un ascolto di qualit in mobilit. Compatto, solido, comodo e bello, e suona praticamente tutti i formati di file musicali. Ma ci sono due criticit da tenere presenti prima di acquistarlo. La prima la necessit di utilizzare un player che consenta l’invio dei file musicali alla porta usb: il dac infatti va collegato a questa uscita, dimenticate il player preinstallato sul vostro smartphone che solitamente invia i file all’uscita analogica per le cuffie! Io ho installato UAPP al prezzo di poco pi di 7 euro (chi volesse fare come me, si ricordi di avviare PRIMA l’app, e POI accendere il dac, altrimenti questo non verr riconosciuto – almeno questa la mia esperienza con il mio smartphone LG G5…). La seconda criticit che, con il dac inserito, non possibile gestire le chiamate al e dallo smartphone. Se qualcuno vi chiama durante l’ascolto della musica, il player si metter in pausa, ma per rispondere non potrete utilizzare il comodo telecomando posto solitamente sul cavo degli auricolari: dovrete invece sfilare la cuffia dal dac e inserirla nella solita presa minijack dello smartphone, e gestire poi la telefonata come fate abitualmente. Non la cosa pi comoda del mondo se avete le mani occupate…

Listening via Tidal HiFi From an IPad Pro into the ifi hip DAC ii driving a pair of either Shure 535s or Sennheiser HD600 (Customcans Mod weight with all foam removed, Oem 3.5mm cable or Van Damme handmade 4.4mm balanced cable) both balanced and unbalanced I am absolutely blown away. Listening to Music I am very familiar with from a variety of Genres, the depth that this little gem adds is sublime.
Genuinely I’m not sure I’ve heard the HD600 sound better even on Tubes. The sound is very rich and opens up the Sennheisers (even compared to a Valhalla 2 or Darkvoice I dare say) but still not even sounding bloated. Balanced or unbalanced it’s still an enjoyable listen. Balanced I feel does give a noticeable improvement in soundstaging, I would say this is to be expected though?
The Shure Iems also sound fantastic, a very involving sound. Of course this could be as they are being listened to balanced but still, really gets you sitting up listening.
I can’t say the amp has a particular sound signature other than very airy. Rich sounding but not warm. Smooth but not laid back nor too punchy. Instrument separation is a particularly strong point of the amp. The last section of Dave Brubecks “Take Five” is a fantastic show of this, you feel you can point to where each musician is playing from and the drums.oh the drums!
In a live version of Fink’s “Troubles what you’re in” you’re able to hear every rasp of his voice and without clich, feel like your 8 feet away from the stage!
I am ashamed to say I had never brought an ifi product before and had stuck with other Brands of audio gear, however, if this is a benchmark of there house sound, I’m hooked.
An absolute steal! Genuinely cannot believe how this is under 600 let alone 200. Pick one up before they realise how good it is.

No soy un audifilo pero escuchar msica a travs de este Ifi hip dac 2 (o con el zen dac V2) es una delicia, y es que se discriminan los diferentes instrumentos con nitidez pudindose concentrarse en cualquiera de ellos hasta el final de la pieza. No puedo hablar de cmo ejecuta archivos mqa porque, aunque estoy suscrito a Tidal, no es la calidad Hi-Fi, con lo que el sonido no alcanza aquel nivel. Tampoco los auriculares son nada extraordinario, Sony mdr-1am2; pero an as y con todo, reitero que la calidad que ambos DAC es magnfica.
I have been using Zen Dac V2 with my Mac for several months and love it. When iFi announced HipDac2 i was excited because I wanted to be able to take advantage of Apples Hi Res music streams on Apple Music. I’m glad I got it because it sounds great and is absolutely amazing.
I immediately ordered the Hip-Dac2 when I heard about it. I am impressed with the sound. The type of music (tried blues, classical, folk) does not even matter too much. The extra bass function works well and boosts lower frequencies without killing the song. But without extra bass it sounds even better to my opinion, so I do not use this function, even though it is better implemented than other DAC’s I listened to. Power match is definitely useful, and I use it when driving my Beyerdynamic DT1990 pro. The DAC/amplifier drives this headphone (250 Ohm) without any issue. As source I use Qobuz. There is plenty of power to drive my DT1990. The sound I mainly compared with another DAC/Amp I have, which is the XDuoo XD05 Plus. The XDuoo may be more powerful than the Hip-Dac2 but the Hip-Dac2 sounds better. It sounds smoother and more pleasant to the ears. If you are using MP3 music as a source, I do not hear a lot of difference with a lower cost Bluetooth DAC like my Earstudio ES-100 Mk2. However, compared to the Earstudio ES-100 Mk2, you have much less adjustment options, but the analog volume control on the Hip-Dac2 is a big advantage over just volume buttons. Watch out with sensitive in-ears: the power match function stays on, even after switching the unit off and on again. Make sure you start at low volume when changing the headphones from less to more sensitive. The cables that are included are not very flexible and short. I don’t like the male USB A 3.0 connection so much and I rather would have liked to see a USB C input. The USB C connection is only for charging with this DAC. All in all this is a great device for the price. Very good build quality, excellent sound, very powerful and very portable. I can definitely recommend it.
14.02.2022: Additional feedback after several months of use: I am still impressed with the sound and stick to my 5 star rating. I also have a few suggestions for improvement. For example, the battery condition LED on the back us hard to see, and when listening to music you don’t see anything at all. Why not putting the battery condition LED at the front and make it better visible? The OTG cables that are supplied with the unit are very short. The unit hangs on the cable if I put my iPad in standup position. Also I would have liked to see a USB C connection to the music source. I am not a fan of the female USB A connector. It’s wobbly and cables are more difficult to find, especially slightly longer cables. For the rest a really DAC unit that I love using.
Ich hab lange Zeit mit dem hip dac der 1. Generation geliebugelt, bisher hre ich immer noch auf einem LG V30 mit quad dac. Als Haupthandy habe ich aber mittlerweile ein Samsung S21 plus.
Als ich die Ankndigung der 2. Generation des hip dac gesehen habe ( diesmal mit MQA-Decoder, statt nur Renderer) habe ich sofort bestellt. Mit Tidal Hifi und den zahlreichen MQA Dateien kommt man aus dem Staunen nicht mehr heraus, wie przise, genau und berwltigend diese kleine Kiste spielt. Gegenber dem auch schon sehr gutem Quad Dac im LG V30 spielt der hip dac 2 wie vom anderen Stern.
Als alle anfingen, mp3 zu hren, habe ich auf SACDs gesetzt, jetzt hren alle bluetooth und ich weiter Kabel mit DACs. Was z.B. Samsung da an in ear bluetooth Kopfhrern mit UVPs von knapp 200 verkauft, ist klanglich ein solch unfassbarer Schrott, dass, wenn man bedenkt, dass ifi fr seinen exzellenten hip dac 2 das gleiche Preisschild zieht, das Gert schon fast als Superschnppchen durchgehen kann.
Wers nicht glaubt, bitte umgehend Probe hren!
Gehrt mit sennheiser Momentum over ear, natrlich der Kabel Edition und Philips Fidelio Kopfhrer X2HR. Die Philips sind wirklich nicht teuer und stndig im Angebot, wenn man ihnen mal auf mydealz folgt.

Lo use en varios iphone, una macbook air, y una pc en todos sin ningn problema Lo probe en apple music y si muestra la seal mxima de 24/192 khz, y cambia de color al reproducir DSD y PCM.
De igual forma los he usado con variados audfonos e auriculares todos de media y alta gama; destacando un sonido bastante agradable en equipos que tienen fama de ser muy agudos o chillones (como los iems Etymotic o los m50x) e incluso IEMS muy sensibles como los Shure se846 o Campfire Andromedas, suenan bien sin sibilancias, y hasta los temibles HD600 con sus 300 de impedancia exigente, y todos (pero en especial esos ltimos) han resultado una delicia de usar, eso si, la batera durar menos en casos como esos, pero si da la oportunidad de cargar y usar al mismo tiempo, asi que no hay problema con eso. Lo recomiendo mucho.
