A common misconception is that a food waste disposer works like a standard bin or composting unit. However, the reality is far different.
An InSinkErator food waste disposer is fitted under most domestic sinks, connected to the wastewater outlet. InSinkErator food waste disposers are perfectly safe and don’t have blades or knives. Food waste is fed into the food waste disposer with cold water and the waste is ground down into small particles which flush easily through the wastewater system to wastewater treatment plants.
Instead of rotting in your home, food waste can be ground in your disposer and sent to wastewater treatment plants where it can yield valuable biogas and other vital soil nutrients.
Food waste disposers divert around 20 per cent of household waste away from landfill and have been shown to have a smaller carbon footprint than kerbside collection.
Safe & Basic noise operation
It has basic noise-level operation and is quieter than many other disposers on the market.
InSinkErator food waste disposers are perfectly safe and don’t have blades or knives. Instead, deep inside the disposer and far beneath the sink surface, there is a grinding plate with lugs that are used to ‘throw’ food waste against a stationary grind ring. This breaks food waste down to almost liquid form.

The Model 46 offers a practical food waste disposal solution. It has a 1-stage grind system to break food waste down into fine particles that can be flushed through your plumbing to wastewater treatment. All of our M Series models can dispose of most food waste, including chicken bones. However, stringy and fibrous materials such as banana peel are only recommended for our Evolution models.

Easy Installation

L’ho preso in sostituzione del modello che gi avevo della stessa marca ed ottimo per famiglie per 2-3 persone.
Installato senza problemi, necessita solo un un interruttore da comprare a parte.
Perfect replacement of the older 45 model
This is a direct replacement for the older 45 model, you just need to use the original pipe work with this new model as the newer supplied pipe work is slightly different, but using the old pipe work it is literally a 10 minute job to swap over, hope this one lasts 15 years like the old model did, very robust units
This model does not come with an on/off button!
It works but I wasn’t at all clear (because who would imagine that a waste disposal could come without a switch!) that such a thing existed!
Great product at a good price
This is just a perfect device that replaced my old one exactly.. A little tricky to install – as there is not much room under the sink but works a treat and seems a little quieter than the old one.
I could not beat the price and is therefore great value for money. Insinkerator is the market leading waste disposal unit provider and are highly recommended. Really happy customer.

Somewhat difficult to lift into place in limited cupboards as very heavy. Needs at least 3 hands and strong arms! Otherwise good value. Replaced Model 45. Slight pipe change required.

Great replacement for its predecesso
This was bought as a replacement for a completely different manufacturer’s model which finally failed after many years of faithful service.
This one is much quieter than its predecessor and more powerful. The instructions for fitting it were excellent – good diagrams, good use of English, very clear and unambiguous. The plumbing was entirely compatible with the old one so no issues there. I also like the fact that the rubber fingers through which you must feed the device are fastened to the device itself – on its predecessor this just sat in the bottom of the tube and eventually it got lost.
As per one of the other reviews, my wife and I struggled to hold it firmly in place with sufficient pressure to get all 3 zones of the fitting to grip at the same time. Towards the end I figured I would have to follow suit and use a car jack to support it – that’s when it dawned on me that our cars today don’t come with a jack and we might have to borrow one – but one final effort from us both and we did succeed in getting it up high enough, with enough force, and held level to get the fitting to grip.
Let’s hope it now gives as good a service as its predecessor.
This model doesn’t use a pressure switch – our kitchen has a switch on the wall hence we intentionally chose the model that does not have the pressure switch. We just cut the plug off and connected it in the same way as its predecessor (via a junction box to a fused spur).

I love this product cuts down my bin waste by nearly half. Easy to install, clear instructions. My only criticism is this model does not come with the button so you would have to buy this separately.. (which could work out more expensive than the next midel up) unless this is a replacement for you. Also I feel it is quite noisy- and the jump in price to the next model is quite high so if you don’t mind the noise for a few seconds… i would recommend this model.

Easy to install and is quieter than the one it replaced
A doddle to install and much better at macerating food waste than the old British built unit which burnt out after only 18 months service and constantly sent solid lumps down the drain causing blockages – bonus the new unit is quieter too !!

A bitch to install. Two minutes to take the old one off. Nearly two hours to fit the new one. Very heavy. Trying to line up and hold up while fixing, very difficult. When eventually fitted works really well.

Ordered this to replace old 45 model so installation was very straightforward with no additional wiring or plumbing required. The old unit worked for 8+ years before it started making noises that I wasn’t able to diagnose -probably busted bearings. Hoping this one will be equally durable.

Einfach einzubauen, leider nur UK Stecker,mit Adapter kein Problem. Mit Funksteckdose und Fernbedienung dazu einzuschalten geht prima. Man braucht dann nicht das Schalter Set zu kaufen.

Prompt arrival, easy fitting, appears to work well. Was a replacement for a type 45.
Effective at the job its designed to do. Pretty noisy but by no means unreasonably so. Easy to fit. Really useful at getting rid of pretty much all food waste. Only waste it can’t deal with are things like stringy veg like leek, carrot or parsnips peelings as they can knot around the motor.

InSinkErator Prompt Delivery
After consulting the UK distributor of the InSinkErator, I placed an order which arrived the very next day – two days earlier than predicted!
The equipment came with very clear installation instructions. However there was a problem connecting the waste pipes – the distributor said that the new model 46 was fully compatible with the previous model 45 in terms of connections. This advice has proved to be incorrect, and I am still finding difficulty in connecting the new model to my waste system.
Once this problem is solved I am sure the InSinkErator will perform well.
Having very limited space my choice of disposers were limited but this one, which replaces a 15year old similar model) does the job quietly and efficiently. Excellent step by step instructions.
Fitting involves lifting with one hand while rotating a locking ring with the other. I found this hard because the disposer has to be pressed firmly onto the rubber seals and kept very straight to engage all three locking tags. In the end I lifted it on a small car jack! Otherwise installation was straightforward

Totally impressed. The delivery was next day. The product comes well packaged and includes the plastic pipe and fixings for connection to standard drain and standard sink. Luckily the sink part was standard enough that I could just twist off the old unit and replace it with this one. The drain was slightly different but didn’t take long to adjust. Build quality seems very good and the noise is not excessive. The fitting instructions are really clear and the guy that wrote them should be awarded some sort of prize for their clarity. All in all very good product. The rubber seal that goes into the unit has a sort of tapered bullet shape that goes in to the unit first. I found it easier to fully locate the rubber seal and pipe then screw the plate in place. But mostly the instructions are very clear.

Ho avuto modo di verificare ” ad occhio ” le differenze col precedente modello 45, questo il 46. Fisicamente identico, ha particolari interni leggermente piu’ robusti e funzionali, non detto pero’ che duri temporalmente di piu’. Il modello 45 durato 29 mesi in tutto ed il punto debole stato il materiale con cui realizzata la vasca interna, stampo in acciaio zincato, credo.

Dopo un mese di utilizzo devo dire che a mio parere ed esperienza sono migliorati i materiali e lla qualit del prodotto. i consumi sono ridotti a minimo e rispettano quelli di targa, sono pi silenziosi si a secco che con all’interno i cibi da tritare. Di facile installazione e di peso contenuto. In oltre sono inseriti nella confezione di tutto il necessario per installazione da 0. Per ora soddisfatto, certo rimane in sospeso l’affidabilit che verr valutata nel corso dell’invecchiamento del prodotto, certo che vanno rispettate tutte le regole d’installazione ed utilizzo. Il precedente della Franke mi durato 9 anni con un onorato servizio.
