My mum loves i
If my mum loves it, what more is there to say.
Great mixer.
My second kenwood mixer but this one has a larger glass bowl. It’s pretty heavy compared to the metal one and I read reviews about the plastic ring at the bottom of the glass bowl cracking and breaking. I understand this could easily happen if pressure is put on when clicking the bowl into place but I find taking it easy and carefully placing it on should help. It’s a quiet mixer and very easily worked.
Bowl stuck in stand
I love my mixer, so easy to make bread with the dough hook attachment.
Would have preferred a stainless steel bowl as the glass one is so heavy.
First time I used the mixer the bowl got stuck on the stand. Googled this and it seems to be a common problem with several makes of stand mixers. Finally managed to feel it after much wiggling and some brute force. It is ok now but doesn’t lock into place in the position shown in the instructions but not a problem as it locks into place and unlocks easily now.
If yours gets stuck YouTube have videos showing how to free the bowl!
I love this mixe
I love it so much it does what I need it to do 🙂
Good quality
Really nice finish ,glass bowl useful ,as can easily see stage mix is a
Great heavy duty mixe
What can I say.. It’s certainly a solid bit of kit.. Very useful and a good bit of torque to mix those dough’s. The splash guard is a good idea and already saved me a lot of clean up time 🙂 (don’t turn the dial up full then turn your back.. lol) Nice that the speed is gradual upto your setting.
Bowl itself is really heavy duty and so expect it to be heavy.
Only downside I can see is the weight I’m gaining, and word getting around I’ve started baking again 😮
It’s definitely not a top shelf storage item, as I said before, it has some weight to it, but that being said, it doesn’t move around when mixing.
Great piece of ki
Always wanted one of these and it didn’t disappoint, love it great piece of equipment built to last like all kenwood goods
Happy overall
On the whole I’m very happy with this appliance. It has certainly lightened the workload when knocking up dough for baguettes, pizza, naans and donuts and making cakes is a pleasure.
As some have said, it is a little noisy and the glass bowl is very heavy. The plastic ring at the bottom of said bowl is probably not the best of materials. Metal or rubber may have been a better choice. While I have not broken it, I can see how this might occur. It is perhaps advisable not to lock the bowl in too tight. Doing so could lead to stressing the collar and also result in making the bowl difficult to remove.
Care also has to be taken to mixing ingredients. It is important to periodically use the plastic spatula to scrape the sides when mixing in order to get uniform mixing and avoid clumps of unmixed clumps of butter in a cake mixture for example.
In terms of the heavy, and perhaps poorly designed, glass bowl, it might be worth considering the metal bowl which can be purchased separately – though at over 80 is somewhat expensive.
Grea
Came with damaged bowl retaining ring looked like it was an intended design. After a couple of uses it
disintegrated sent off for replacement realized the first was actually broken . But it works well
I can see the whisk etc is exactly where I want them to be when I’m using them.
I’m not picking just one reason for liking my mixer I absolutely love everything about it.lts quiet , smooth running and I can see how far the blades are positioned down into the lovely glass bowl .
First class mixe
Bought this to replace my old Kenwood that died after 12 years faithful service. Things I love – glass bowl, volume of bowl, range of beaters (bought the spatula one too), range of attachments (bought the mincer), and the over all look of the kMix. This was a definite upgrade for me and it manages volumes of bread and pizza dough with little effort. There’s nothing I dislike about this mixer!
Love my mixe
I am super happy with my purchase ! Great product ! Mixes very well and fast !
Perfect for making bread
This is the first stand mixer I have owned so I don’t have anything to compare it with but what a great investment it was. The mixer is sturdy and the strong motor copes well with large quantities of bread dough. I am using it about 5 times per week or more, mainly to make bread of varying types but I have also used it for cake mixing. The glass bowl is great because I can see what’s happening in the bowl and it is very easy to wash up after. It is quite heavy but I like that. When mixing dough, it doesn’t really cope well with smaller quantities and probably needs at least a 400g of flour mix but that’s fine. I would definitely recommend this to anyone thinking of buying a new stand mixer.
Great mixer, but the bowl is heavy!
Fantastic mixer. I’ve had mine nearly 6 months now and have used it to make all sorts of doughs and cakes. The only downside is that I wish I’d got the version with the metal bowl. The included glass one is very heavy and doesn’t really offer much benefit. Really not sure what other people are doing to their bowls to break the plastic ring at the bottom. Mine has been absolutely fine!
Great mixer, with a small flaw.
Great mixer, very easy to use. Only issue is the small flaw in the design. The glass bowl retaining ring breaks easily when locking the glass bowl in place. You cant be too heavy handed, you will need to twist it in place very gently. Kenwood replaced it without quibble within 5 working days. I was told it was common, and the design had been improved on more recent models. It would also not be an issue if you went for the stainless steel bowl rather than glass one.
However, I would still recommend this product highly.
Great, useful kitchen aid
Great product.
Really easy to use and clean
Good price.
Would use agai
Great product.
Wonderful machine that does everything we ask it to. Very easy to use
Perfect Mix of Quality and Ease
Excellent build quality of mixer, bowl and utensils. Not only does it look good but it is easy to use and performs well.
Unlike other mixers this has a glass bowl which allows you to easily monitor progress of your mix.
Excellent machine
You get what you pay for
Excellent machine, well made and sturdy
Well recommended
Fabulous
Does what it says on the tin and looks fab
Love i
I bought this mixer on black friday at a massively reduced price after watching it for a long time. It’s exactly what I expected so great value for money and I am getting great use out of it.
Great of on offe
This is a great piece of equipment and had made light work of cake and dough making.
That said, the glass bowl is very very heavy to the extent I’ll need to buy the lighter metal one. The splash guard feels very flimsy and I suspect unless really treated with kid gloves it will break. The latter would not stop me buying it again at this price (199), but if it was full price of seriously consider looking at the KitchenAid or alternatives.
Kenwood food mixe
A lovely mixer, would have given it 5 but quite loud
Beautiful mixer at brilliant price!
I was a little dubious of ordering something second hand off Amazon as I had never done before, but when I unpacked this even though it said there was some ‘scratches’ it looks perfect and as good as new! I am so happy with this, as it was under half price of any other mixer from any other retailers. Came with all the attachments. Ordered and got this delivered the next day! Is very quiet and looks beautiful compared to other mixers that are bulky. The glass mixer jug is super handy too!
Great mixe
I love my new mixer, very sturdy and easy to use. Bought when on offer great price.
Sturdy, easy to use and good looking!
I wasn’t sure that I would use the mixer enough to justify the space it takes. But it is so easy to use (and to clean afterwards) that I am using it more and more. Many tasks are quicker not only because of the efficiency of the mixer but because I can do other stuff whilst it whisks.
Great price.
Great value for money a great addition to my kitchen, home baking has just become easier.
I had this for a week and a bit now and I an very happy. I’ve bought it for making bread dough and I could not be more pleased. I read the reviews about the glass bowl base being easily damaged so I’ve bought a stainless steel bowl too. The price was brilliant , even with buying an extra bowl, it still turned out 50 cheaper than other shops. The quality of this mixer is brilliant, the accessories that came with it are made of strong metal and the speeds are perfect. I made cakes, home made mayo and bread so far.
Easy to use
I was lucky to get this mixer as a Black Friday bargain. I love it. My only complaint is that the bowl is difficult to remove from the stand after use…but my husband can get the bowl off the stand. I haven’t made much with it so far but what I have made has been very successful.
This was bought to replace a cheap stand mixer whose beaters fell to pieces. Its problem is the difficulty of removing the glass bowl from the base. The first time I used it I was virtually on the point of returning it, but suddenly it unlocked. It seems vital to turn the bowl only about an inch when unlocking. Looking online, this jamming of the bowl is very common.
It is not as good as the old Andrew James mixer about leaving mixture at the side of the bowl. Regular scraping down is needed.
Otherwise it does a good job. If I had paid full price though, I would be unimpressed.
Terry
It’s good products. Value for money and easy for use
Amazing produc
As described, easy to use and to clean .Very happy with my purchase.Thank you
Kenwood mixe
First use and the bottom piece that keeps the bowl in broke not so good
Love it!
Absolutely love this mixer and it makes my cakes rise so well
Let me start by saying that it’s a great stand mixer, powerful, controllable, well made and fairly quiet.
It does however have one well documented flaw and that’s the glass bowl, more specifically the plastic ring on the bottom of the bowl.
Third time my wife used the mixer the bowl refused to release from the base, the bowl was turning but the plastic ring was firmly stuck in the machine stopping the removal of the bowl. A quick Google search revealed we were not alone in experiencing this problem and the solution involved WD40 and some brute force. Spray the WD40 around the seal between the ring and the machine base, leave it to penetrate then tighten the bowl clockwise so it tightens to the ring. Once it’s tightened turn the bowl sharply anti-clockwise and hopefully the bowl, with the ring attached, releases. The fact that replacement plastic rings are available from Amazon, Kenwood and eSpares shows it’s a common fault (eSpares are a third of the price of Amazon and Kenwood).
Not wanting to risk it again I have ordered the stainless steel 5l bowl which does away with the plastic ring and is also considerably lighter than the glass one. Later models all seem to have this as standard.
Even factoring in the cost of the stainless bowl the Kenwood machine is still very good value when compared with the comparable Kitchen Aid mixer.
UPDATE – Genuine Kenwood stainless bowl has arrived from eSpares (ES1779937) and it’s a huge improvement. Fits perfectly, a fraction of the weight of the glass bowl and NO PLASTIC RING!

Wonderful mixe
Not cheap but so far I am very pleased with the performance and build quality.
Very good produc
My wife is very pleased with the mixer she has wanted one for a long time
Brilliant machine but problems with bowl base ring. - AMENDMENT - DO NOT PURCHASE IT
Brilliant machine, does everything it supposed to do. Easy to use and quiet.. The only problem is, as others have mentioned, is the base ring on the glass bowl it is inclined to come loose and making it impossible to release from the base. It happened to my wife and she could not get the bowl off. A design fault which can be easily rectified by making a glass bowl without a handle.(the handle stops the bowl revolving by hitting the upright of the machine). I made a gripper out of thin rope and plastic tubing to fit above the base ring and the bottom of the bowl. It worked fine and thanks goodness haven’t had to use again. I also put a smear of cooking oil on the outside of the base ring. I’m thinking of buying metal bowl.
February 2021 – The base ring cracked a couple of weeks ago and consequently couldn’t use the machine. I got in touch with Amazon who were very helpful and suggested I returned the mixer for a full refund. The only problem – I now live in France and all the problems of customs etc. They also suggested I purchase a ring bowl attachment and forward the cost to them. But how long will a new ring last? Have you tried getting a ring in France?? They then put me through to Kenwood Customer Services themselves who basically didn’t real want to know. They weren’t very interested in my problem. They suggested again that I try & purchase locally but were not prepared to give me any details of their stockists in France. My previous mixer was a Kenwood Major which I’d had since the 1970’s which was excellent and maintenance free. Because of this, I purchased the Kmix. A VERY BAD CHOICE. I have now managed to buy a new replacement attachment ring but lord only knows how long it will last. However because of this I wont be returning the Kmix. It is a design fault and Kenwood knows it. They should give us the opportunity to replace the glass bowl with a metal bowl (no plastic attachment) and take this bowl off the market. Other than this it is a very good machine but Kenwood Customers Services are terrible. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MACHINE until this known fault is rectified.
Finally happy
Really happy with my second mixer, the first didn’t come with right attachments
Sturdy and easy to use
Wish I had bought one years ago. Making cakes has never been easie
Super mixer. A real workhorse.
Love this mixer. I bake scones and cakes every day. Absolutely would recommend to anyone.
Good - but. ...
Like some other users have found, my start switch usually does not set the motor going at first turn. I have sort of gotten used to having to switch it off and on again but really it shouldn’t be like this. And no, it is nothing to do with the soft start, it is dead until I turn it off and on again, sometimes several times before it starts to work… I love the machine, but wonder if I should report this as a fault and get the machine swapped out. The motor is noisy and makes a grating sound, again I am not sure if this is really all that good so .. hmm, might ask for advice.
All that said, it is a powerful machine and a fine replacement for the trusty old Chefs I have used for years. …
Beware of design fault, the bowl ring will break!
This is a great mixer until the plastic ring at the bottom of the bowl breaks! It broke whilst using the mixer for a second time.
If you make a mix that stiffens as it mixes (I.e. Rock cakes) as the dough mixes and gets stiffer, it cases the bowl to turn tighter onto the grey plastic ring at the base of the bowl and causes it it split. When you then try to release the bowl, the bowl turns however the plastic ring doesn’t move thus preventing the bowl from releasing without using excessive force.
I glued the ring back together and tried a second time, same thing happened.
Contacted Amazon and they are sending out a replacement with a free return for my broken one.
Reading other reviews, I think the same will happen when I come to make a stiff mix again. Clearly a design fault.
I would recommend going for a stainless steel bowl model to anyone reading this review.
Multi function mixer, a great investment !
I got my Kenwood K Mix when it was reduced and I’m generally very happy with it! It makes light work of usually very menial jobs; my daughter loves to bake and so we use our K Mix all the time! Cake batter, icing and I even knead my chapatti flour in it! I had an issue with the plastic piece under the bowl, it kept getting stuck in the mixer, but Amazon sent me a replacement, so happy days!
Definitely definitely recommend this. I’ve got in black and it sits on my counter top in pride of its place!
Easy to use and looks amazing 😉
I’ve always wanted a Kenwood and it’s more than met my expectations. I have bought the remaining attachments and they fit welll.
It’s just brilliant!
Excellent product; bought the meat grinder attachment too and worked brilliantly. Best mixer I’ve owned in my 51 years!
Kenwood KFix'd It for Me
Clearance between the tools and bowl is a little more than desired but can be adjusted, so was doing the job nicely. Right up until – like many others here – the plastic nut on the bottom if the glass bowl sheared off, after about 2 months occasional use.
Called Kenwood and this is obviously a common issue, the agent was about as surprised that we’d suffered this failure as I am when my kids misbehave…which is to say it very.
What was a pleasant surprise was their response – new nut dispatched from stock and received within 2 days, followed by a stainless steel bowl which was on back-order and arrived about 10 days later.
So…there’s clearly a design flaw but Kenwood are addressing it swiftly and, in my view, satisfactorily if you let them know it’s happened.
Good sturdy mixer.
I don’t use this mixer – I just eat the cakes it helps produce. No complaints there . It is very heavy to move around , particularly the glass bowl ( apparently the wife would have preferred a stainless steel bowl ).
Not unsightly on the worktop , but we might have to find a dust cover as it isn’t used everyday.
Glass bowl fits great in the dishwashe
All I can say is OMG am so happy this stand mixer is so amazing and I love the glass bowl
Robust mixe
Robust mixer. Sadly threaded ring that locks the bowl onto to mixer broke within a few uses. I’m trying to get a replaceme
Kenwood have a good reputation when it comes to stand mixers. After looking at what seems like 100 different mixers, this is the one we settled on and it is brilliant. Comes well packaged and has a nice modern aesthetic while still maintains a classic stand mixer look.
Comes with a few different attachments ( propriety ‘K’ shaped mixer, whisk and bread attatchments) with the ability to add other additional attachments including things like a meat mincer. These seem really good quality and a nice and heavy. They are easy to swap between and clean.
The machine itself also gives the feeling of quality. Has a nice metal housing and lever (to tip the mixer back) and good chunky dial to control the speed of the mixer, as well as turn it on and off. This allows even a moron like me to use it with ease. Doesn’t move at all along the kitchen counter, even at full tilt. Not the most expensive mixer either, so I consider it to be very good value.
Has made baking and cooking much easier and quicker due to the conservation of elbow-grease…just remember to put the splash guard on.
Sturdy mixe
Bought this mixer predominantly for bread and pastry making. Very good quality, nice feature in the kitchen, and works really well. Making bread has never been so easy (either bread dough with yeast or sourdough). Also, there is a remarkable difference in the quality of pastries I used to make by hand and that of made by this mixer. Very happy with this purchase.
Good and sturdy mixes well
Very good and sturdy mixer except the plastic locking ring on the bowl broke within a week customer service were brilliant sending us a new bowl
This is a good mixer and easy to use and clean. My complaint is this the plastic ring on the mixing bowl is broken, as shown in a picture on someone else’s review. The break is exactly the same. I can’t get in touch with amazon to see if they send a new ring and, as we’re in lock down and I’m sheiding, it’s difficult to return. Pretty disappointed with Amazon’s customer service.
Stylish and top quality
Wanted one for years and took advantage of the lockdown for extra baking and excuse to buy! Torn between this and the kitchen aid but I just find kenwood to be a better Brand when reading endless reviews. Great quality. Terrified I’ll break the glass bowl but so far (touch wood) so good! Even added the folding tool as another basket item and that’s great too! Now I need exercise equipment to balance the over-eating of cake!
Fix the plastic ring!!
This mixer itself is very good, no doubts. But the glass mixing bowl has a plastic ring at the bottom, used to lock it in place, which broke after two usages. Kenwood knows about it, because you can see many reviews mentioning this. I was hoping that by the time I ordered it, Kenwood would have fixed it, but clearly not.
After looking online for a replacement, and seeing prices ranging between 20 and 40, I ended up 3D printing it.
My suggestion is: if you have to buy it, but the version with the metal mixing bowl.
Classic kitchen tool
Probably the best on the market but for the plastic retaining hoop for the mixing bowl which cracked and needed to be replaced.
That said, it is a brilliant machine
The machine makes bread dough really fast ! However……
I also have the problem that the glass bowl got stuck to the base after I used it for the first time. But later I figured out how to get it off the base and avoid this to happen again: Put oil to the gap between the glass bowl and the base and turn the bowl to get the plastic ring in the right place and then it will be easy to take it out. Make sure the plastic ring at bottom of the glass bowl is rotated to pretty tight before use the mixer next time.
Hope the above will help those who have the same issue with the mixer.
Wife says it's grea
She’s happy, baking away.
All good I think.
She did say the plastic ring on the bottom of the bowl broke second use bit she is getting by
WIFE LOVES IT
Purchased for an extra gift it has taken over. My wife really loves it and I have taken to it also. Apart from the usual baking preparations it certainly makes life easy in creaming potatoes with excellent results.
Ideal mixe
Just perfect for doing my baking, looks good
Bit pricey but buying in sale helped on the pocket , stays steady when mixing so no movement on worktop
After reading a lot of reviews on all makes of mixers, I decided to go for this kenwood kmix, and I am glad I did. I have to be honest though and bought the lightweight stainless steel bowl too as I knew the glass bowl would be heavy and it was worth the extra money paid. I have only had it a few days and I have two perfectly made loaves of bread. I have a 20 year old Kenwood food processor that is still in perfect working order so you know that you can trust Kenwood.
An excellent home produc
I bought this as a Christmas present for myself as I reached a stage in my baking where a mixer would help and enhance but not replace my skills. After some research I settled on this product and I loved the colour. My requirements were the dough hook and the whisk. Both function perfectly alongside with the machine. It was easy to set up. I do use a non-slip mat, just in case.
The only downside was that after only a few uses, the bowl ring fractured, then broke. Upside: I was able to contact customer service on Facebook via messenger and a replacement ring was sent out promptly. I used that once so far and had no issues.
After 3 months of use I’m very happy with the mixer and made lovely breads and pastries and even butter (although that was accidental the first time).
I’m looking forward to many years’ of continued use and will update my review if needed.
Really good food mixe
Really easy to use, literally one dial. Easy to put together and take apart for washing. Works really well, no bits of the mixture is missed. Accessories are also useful (comes with spatula) and good quality. Excellent for doing cake mixes and brownies. For those of you who may have mobility / strength issues, this is very heavy and is kept in place by this weight when on.
Not entirely happy
Was not completely happy with performance was not truly happy with how it mixed cake mixture
Does mostly well but there are deficiencies
It’s a nice mixer. Never had one before to compare with so no idea whether it’s value for money.
It works well and certainly does most of the jobs needed.
The only requirement is that there’s a reasonable amount of substance to mix. The mixing adapter is unfortunately not deep enough to completely mix contents. Requires a bit of manual intervention to make sure you’re not left with some unmixed ingredients at the end.
Perfect for cake mixes and stuffing (main uses so far). Not great for whisking up a couple of eggs.
Always wanted one of these mixers
This mixer had 60% reduction as part of Cyber Monday deals, so I said to myself why not. I had always wanted one, but they were too dear to purchase. Got it for 178 so it was a no brainer.
It is a serious piece of kitchen kit and has pride of place on my kitchen counter. Got a cover for it. It was great to have over the Christmas period.
Solid well made mixe
Only used for bread dough so far but seems sturdy and well made. Haven’t had the problem with the glass bowl as reported by others, but it is heavy so bought steel bowl too.
With making some changes to a design,a buy worth considering.
So just before festive season my loyal companion mixer sadly turned the heels up.after tear or two I started to look for replacement.came across this one on sale at a surprising good price and placed an order.within a couple of days had arrived in its original box, so everyone knew what I bought and glad wasn’t a present for someone!lol it was in use the same night.after a look at instructions I quickly assembled beater only to find that doesn’t actually fit properly and scrapes against one side of the bowl.no wonder was on sale!on instruction sheet troubleshooting section such a thing wasn’t mentioned but noted that with the special key u could adjust height of it.well,I don’t know where to find such a key in my kitchen and my husband not familiar with diy and I don’t think this was a solution for my case.so would be helpful what key could be included with the mixer.just for comparison I bought sewing machine few years ago and screw driver was included.anyways after squashing wires a bit with the hands I had some improvements but still was touching one side.the glass bowl was a pain to put, you had a fiddle a bit to get it in quite heavy but still made of glass so just have to wait and see how long is going to last.i didn’t not like the big spout touching side of the mixer.again would been nice have a choice of the steel bowl also.i already started to look for replacement bowl and they talking 50-80 for that.the knob easy to use but seem like stuck on labels for speed numbers etc.over all works well and not too noisy if you don’t listen glass beeing scraped on one side.there is a few pictures and video to follow.
worth the money
I was looking at a cheaper option (Russell Hobbs 25930 Go Create) but opted for the Kenwood brand (at more that 2x price). I think this was the right decision; the Kmix exudes quality. It’s simple to use and clean. The glass bowl is heavy but you can seen what is going on inside. All in all it’s a great addition to the kitchen and encourages you to cook.
Edit (20.1.20)- has been used less that a dozen times and the plastic ring on bottom of bowl has broken meaning the bowl cannot be properly locked to the base – a quick search shows this is a common problem with the glass bowl (which Kenwood have not addressed) – let’s see what they say…
Impressed
Very happy with purchase. However, scrapping down the sides of the mixing bowl isn’t that easy. But other than that, very pleased.
Worth while replacement.
Needed to replace my previous Kenwood which had done the job for many years. The new one is heaps better, sturdy, mixes well and doesn’t wobble on the worktop (like the old one did!). Fantastic value.
Needs to come with more tools. Not noisy
It’s a nice neutral colour that doesn’t glare at you on the work surface. It’s too heavy to keep putting it away after every use especially if you use it frequently. The bowl is very heavy and I wish I had chosen a stainless steel. It doesn’t beat as well as I had expected and so I give a final mix by hand and spoon to blend in the butter. Shame, I had high hopes for this and maybe I’ll get used to it. A big plus is it’s much quieter than I expected.
A great gift!
I’m really pleased with this buy. Firstly, it’s stylish (nearly went with red but cream suited our kitchen more). The attachments are easy to clip in, there is plenty of space in the bowl, and the controls are very simple to use. Makes a big difference to the consistency of bakes… well worth the investment if you intend on using it frequently like we do!
Powerful and efficient.
A brilliant, beautiful looking, efficient and powerful stand mixer. Easy to clean with no little fiddly bits at all. Its really easy to use too- just throw it all in and turn it on.
My only criticism is that its a bit noisy.
Great mixer only one dissapointing feature.
Love the mixer, works extremely well. My only criticism is that , (as you can see from the picture if you zoom in on the black part of it), it came with these stains , streaks, discolouration in the black paint finish. Its not resedue . Cant clean it off . Thats the only dissapointment , that seeing its brand new, it doesn’t look as good as it should on the shelf .
Great Alternative to Kitchen Aid
Great product but did need a replacement after 4 months. The bowl got stuck in the machine as the plastic comes off the glass bowl. Would recommend as a cheaper alternative to Kitchen Aid one. Happy with purchase and Amazon’s return and replacement service
Love i
Absolute amazing, good quality, but I don’t know if the glass bowl is sturdy. Thank you.
Consider the order you put your ingredients into the bowl
Love it. Very easy to use, tools are easy to fit and change. Very easy to clean up.
Although it is a little loud, I don’t mind the noise.
The only reason I did not give this a full 5 star review is because sometimes the beater does not incorporate all of the ingredients from the bottom or the sides, but if you consider the order you put them in the bowl, and use the handy spatula that was included, you will be happy!
Brilliant! I love, love, LOVE it! It’s powerful, but quiet. The weight of the tilt was a surprise at first, but once you get used to it it’s fine. Smooth. Feels like quality. I took a long time deliberating whether to go for the glass bowl, or not. In the end I did. The glass bowl is heavy! And I do struggle to lift it when full, so I decant instead, then lay it on its side to scrape out. So unless you are very weak (my Mum could hardly lift it so was frightened she would drop it), don’t let the weight put you off, you can get round it like I do. I’m so pleased I went for it.
Why we bought it:
We were looking for something which hopefully would last for a long time, so we were willing to invest a little more. So we decided to buy this because: 1.Wanted it to be from metal, 2. Be quiet 3.Manage heavy dough. 4. It was recommended to us over Kitchen Aid (also much better priced) .
The product we received was with a glass Bowl and here are our observations:
+ All metal, beautiful
+ Manages air very well , does not overheat
+ Manages heavy dough
+ In comparison with my mother’s Bosch and other mixers it is really quiet, exactly as expected
+ Excellent visibility because of the glass bowl
+ Fantastic speed control !
+ Easy to clean
– The power cord does not retract
– The plastic thread ring broke
+/- The glass bowl is heavy
About the plastic ring problem. Those who buy the version with the glass bowl should have the following in mind.
In order for it to be attached it uses a plastic thread ring as a medium between the cup and the base. You should be careful not to turn it too tightly because it is possible to break during operation. I knew that before receiving the product and was careful but to no avail.
After the 7th use the bowl wouldn’t come out. I poured some olive oil to unscrew it and after i got it out , the ring just shattered into pieces. Kenwood were very helpful (although it took them almost a week to respond) and sent me a replacement.
Overall the machine is amazing and everything we wanted. If you want to avoid problems with the plastic ring – order the product with a steel bowl.
Kenwood K mix
This replaced my old Kenwood Chef that has gone to my son, still working. It’s a well designed piece. I love the glass bowl and I’ve got the silicone folder which folds beautifully. As we get older, Kenwood is our baking helper needed in all kitchens. Kenwood last for years and deserves accolades for its technology. Thank you.
Wonderful
I was debating whether to buy this or KitchenAid so did my research first. This is cheaper and performed just as well in comparison tests I found online. Also a friend who has a cake making business has both appliances and prefers the kMix “every time”. So happy with my purchase!
I’m no professional, but the frequency at which I bash out a pound cake meant my old cheap mixer was struggling. I chose this based on the capacity, the apparent quality of the attachments, the power and speed options and large range of optional attachments.
So far I’ve made a bunch of different pou d cakes, chocolate fondants and similar so I’ve used the K beater and whisk, not the dough hook. I have had to scrape the bowl to ensure full incorporation of ingredients but I’ve not problem with that and it’s usually just an ever so fine layer of sugar.
I will say the glass bowl is pretty heavy – as you would imagine. For someone with a weakness of arms hands or shoulders perhaps getting a lighter bowl would be necessary. I just take the opportunity to swap arms and feel like I’m toning something.
Beautiful, solid, quality mixer with just one niggle
I’m absolutely thrilled with my new K-mix. With the exception of one detail, which I’ll come back to, this thing oozes quality, and I wouldn’t hesitate to give 5 stars if it weren’t for the niggle which I’ll come back to below. It looks and feels solid and durable. It’s heavy, smooth, shiny and looks beautiful. The beaters fit smoothly and securely. The movement on the speed adjustment dial is silky smooth. When you switch it on it’s much quieter than my mum’s old Kenwood Chef, but seems no less powerful. The speed dials up smoothly, and even on full speed there’s no wobbling or movement in the body of the mixer. I made a sponge cake by just throwing all the ingredients in together (rather than creaming butter, sugar and eggs first), and they were all whipped together into a smooth and fluffy batter in no time at all, with no un-mixed ingredients left around the sides of the bowl at all.
I actually like the glass bowl. It’s heavier than my mum’s stainless steel one, but I love the fact I can see whether the ingredients are being mixed at the bottom (and they always are – I haven’t had any dry ingredients left clinging to the bowl at all). BUT the one thing I have a concern with is the plastic collar around the base of the bowl, which carries the thread which enables the bowl to lock into the base of the mixer. It just doesn’t fit with the quality feel of the rest of the mixer. It doesn’t feel durable, and it doesn’t even work that well – it’s a bit of a struggle to get the bowl to fit in properly and takes a bit of wobbling around to get it to fit in and then twist to lock it (even harder with a heavy bowl full of ingredients), and having read other reviews about this part eventually cracking I can see that this is a real possibility. It’s a shame that despite the consistent feedback in reviews over the past couple of years Kenwood haven’t come up with a solution to this obvious problem.
Having said that, the price I paid on Amazon for the mixer is 100 less than they are charging in our local stores for the exact same model, so I can pay the rather steep premium for a stainless steel bowl (close to 70), and still be quids in, so on balance it’s all good thanks to Amazon’s great pricing.
I would like to see Kenwood fix this issue though – whether by switching to a stainless steel bowl as standard, or by coming up with a better, smoother and more durable solution than a PLASTIC collar. It’s such a shame for this beautiful, quality mixer to be let down on such a small but important detail.
Fantastic produc
My daughter loves this thing. It has a slow start which is really useful plus all surfaces are easy to clean. Design is more refined then the kitchenaid mixer which has a somewhat industrial feel to it (and I believe, a less powerful motor).
Excellent mixer 🇬🇧
Fantastic machine!! a true British quality built product !!!
Thought I would purchase for my mom her last one is only 36 years old and still works great.
Every mom and wife should have a british Kenwood Chef ! A must for the house .
Problem with Glass Bowl
We bought ours in the Black Friday sale. A piece of glass broke from the bottom of the bowl underneath the plastic fitting. Phoned up Kenwood and they said the glass bowl was no longer available and would we accept a replacement stainless steel bowl. The stainless steel bowl arrived 2 days later and is a far better fit into the mixer. Its still early days but I would give it 4 stars
I have had a Kmix for three years now and have just bought this newer model for my sister. They are just the best machine I have ever owned. I make bread about 3 – 4 times a week and do not have the strength or stamina required for all of that kneading. The Kmix with it’s dough hook does it all for you in 10 minutes.
All the ingredients in, ten minutes on just under number 1 then straight into a bowl for proving. It is so easy, the machine doesn’t move across the work top like some cheaper lighter mixers do and it mixes every bit effortlessly.
I make pastry and sometimes cakes with the k beater attachment and using these is a pleasure. Easy to clean or goes into the dishwasher. It has a 5 year guarantee so Kenwood are sure of their product. I love the modern look (not everyone likes ‘retro’ or ‘vintage’) and I like the fact that it is British.
I can’t recommend highly enough.
UPDATE. people are questioning if it’s British. What is nowadays? It has its offices in the UK and has always been essentially British. It has a great build quality so I’m happy.
UPDATE – the glass bowl has got stuck in place a few times and my sister has had it replaced with the stainless steel bowl, like mine. Loads lighter and won’t get stuck. If I were to replace my Kmix I wouldn’t concider a glass bowl model. Still a great mixer!
Love this produc
I’ve been using the stand mixer during the last month and it is not enough time, but I love it.
The only thing I missed is that you remind customers, from outide of the UK, we need to buy a suitable plug. Apart from it, I don’t know where I can found recipes and tips to better use the mixer.
Thanks.
My first mixer but the cakes are sooo much better with this. It’s so quiet too, which is great for our open plan kitchen. Highly recommend it!
Solid, heavy, seems very well built. Only time will tell if it’s durable. The glass mixing bowl is a tad tricky to mount on to the base but that could be me. Tried all attachments and very happy with the results especially the whisk (egg whites whip very well and quickly). Un-happy with the small detatchable metal cover that protects the accessory coupling as it keeps detaching. Seems a reliable machine and my confidence in using it increases each time.

Wanted a Kenwood for SO long. Price was great so I invested. I love it soooo much. Can’t fault it and it comes with a guard, not shown in pics – bonus!
Was a wedding present for my niece. She tells me it’s fantastic (much, much better than her previous, less expensive, mixer) and because it is heavier, it doesn’t jump about the worktop. She is cooking more often now, just so she can use it!
I have lusted over a decent food mixer for a long time and managed to buy this when on a very good offer.
I have not been disappointed – takes all of the effort out of cake making
The mixer is great. I’ve had it for almost a month now and used it for cake batter, muffins, creams and doughs with great results every time. The quality of all the materials is really good. The bowl is a bit heavy (which is to be expected since it’s made out of thick glass) but it’s really easy to clean and same for all the attachments.
In terms of noise, it’s more silent than any hand-held or vertical mixers I’ve ever had. Overall I’m really happy with it.
The delivery speed was amazing as well. I’ve opted for standard delivery outside of the UK and got it in less than 2 days.
What a lovely bit of kit. If you’re choosing between the kitchen aid device and this you do need to touch both. The power for this is adjusted with a smooth rotary dial, the kitchen aid with a ratchet. Both look very good. Personal preference was for the rotary dial. Built to last a lifetime.
Can’t believe the price as genuine 150:00 reduction as I’ve wanted this mixer for years but couldn’t bring myself to pay over four hundred pounds.
Now it’s sat on my worktop I keep stroking it. My husband came home from work today with a big slice of cake pushed on him before his coat was off ! We’ll both be fat as butter in six months but who cares.
If you can, buy yourself one. You’ll love it.
