You will never be in awe of an alarm, I get that but it is a good product that works well.

It even announces what it has detected which will help in you state of confusion when it goes off.

Yes. It actually decided to go off for the first time yesterday, the silly old owner having left something to burn on his hob.The racket it made would have woken the dead! Sticking it out in the garden eventually made it stop. Time to read the manual, perhaps?!?

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought to affix to the ceiling of my utility room close to the gas central heating boiler.

The alarm came with all the necessary screws and wall plugs. The instructions on where to place the alarm are very easily understood too.

It seems good quality and the alarm would wake the dead when it goes off.

    Recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExpected warnings are given well with noise & voice reason.
Low battery warning too as despite us knowing we should regularly test these things, life often gets in way & we don’t.

Bought it again to replace the one I dropped & smashed while getting it down to replace the battery. My fault!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReputable brand and DUEL use, but not easy to install straight!
DUEL alram in one unit, both CO2 AND SMOKE detection.
Has a warning LED, VERY loud alarm, AND a voice alert saying (which) detection.
the backplate is a bit of a pain to install, and whilst has sveral slots and holes there is no fitting guidnace chart so getting it straight is a bit of pain!
Sturdy, Well Made, and a Reputable Brand.
TIP: triple check the alignement beofre drilling holes!
    WOULD reccomend.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersJust on test alone, this seems to be the business. Two different warning squeals accompanied by a female voice advising “warning …fire …” or “warning … carbon monoxide …” Reassuring and loud – in a motor home certainly. I realise this is all you need. Screens showing ppm, or the like would be completely irrelevant if there was a fire or carbon monoxide problem. The only down side is the size of the unit. Can’t see why it could not be packed in a neat little box. I would like to see other detectors by this firm, particularly, for us, an LPG warning.

This alarm came with the battery installed and easy to follow instructions, so it was up and running within a few minutes. I’m very happy with this product.

This replaced a 10 year old model and was easy to instal as it used the same screw holes. I don’t know if it will be possible to link it up with other monitors to comply with forthcoming rules but it does the job perfectly at the moment.

Choose this product as a very good price and combines carbon and smoke detectors. It also has speech of what type of problem is. Not very loud but still a handy addition.

An excellent upgrade of an earlier model. Easy to install on wall and ceiling.

This was to replace a similar item which had exceeded its life expectancy. I was pleased it fitted straight onto its predecessor’s base which made installation simple.
Battery replacement has been made easier.
We haven’t had a fire or carbon monoxide leak since installation so I can’t comment on performance!

Ordered this item to replace the same item which has lasted for its expected 10 years. Easy to install. OK value for money. Once fitted to the landing ceiling the testing was fine. We will only know if it works if it goes off when there is smoke or carbon Mon oxide detected. It is all an act of face but the alarm is from a reputable company.

Bought this to replace an 8 year old alarm which had reached the end of its service life, this was the same make although an updated version of my original. Luckily this fit the old backing plate so I literally unclipped the old one and clipped in the new alarm

I had a Kidde CO/smoke combo for a bit over 10 years and it started complaining recently (it was indeed past its replacement time), so I went for the current model, hoping the baseplate would be compatible.
There was another user here for whom it was not, but for me it was a perfect match, latched onto the existing baseplate, pushed the battery in, held the button and it was ready to go.
So far so good then, although it is a shame they went from AA to 9V. I mean, they do include one, but come replacement time (in 1-2 years they claim), I’ll have to scramble to get one, while I always have plenty of spare AAs.

This is now the 3rd unit in a row that I’ve fitted in our sitting room. Over the past 15 or 16 years I’ve fitted the same manufacture and type of detector. This year the only difference is the battery access ( was from the rear – near the ceiling and now from the front facing down ). As for reliability easy to fit and use, if there been any problems I would NOT be fitting the same type of detector.

The constant flashing light is annoying.

My unit had clearly been opened before and had a human hair on the unit adhesive

This was easy to install and looks very smart on the kitchen ceiling. At first we though the smoke detector wasn’t working for real, even though it was working in test mode, because it didn’t do anything when we burnt some food. But then we hoovered the filter and now it works fine (it started beeping last time I burnt something). Would recommend hoovering before use.

My old Kidde combi alarm had reached its end-of-life and I was interested to see they had discontinued that for this newer model. I’ve had a few of the older ones and none have ever given me a problem.

I was wary of the number of reviews that spoke of false alarms, but eventually decided it was worth a try. I bought two. One of them did give a completely unprovoked false alarm a week after it was installed, but otherwise they have been ok. (It has been nearly 4 months since purchase, I will update this review if problems occur.)

This model has a front-loading 9V battery rather than the old rear-loading 3xAA. I can see the benefit in ease of battery change but, for something you do once per year at most, does it really matter? The 9V battery is typically shorter life and more expensive, and the door is rather ugly.

On the other hand this has a lifetime of 10 years instead of the 7 of the old one, so that’s nice.

For anyone else in a similar position to myself, you might like to know the wall/ceiling mount is compatible with the previous model. I just kept the old mount in place.

It’s just worth pointing out that people seem to get a little over-obsessed with smoke alarm sensitivity and performance They are invaluable as a device to potentially save your life in the event of a fire while you’re asleep, but they do not of themselves prevent fires or guarantee your safety! By far the best way to not die in a fire is to not set fire to your house in the first place! The number of times I’ve seen people get a false sense of security by using them as a “safety net” for doing stupid things that they know might cause a fire is unbelievable.

One of those devices that you never know if it really works until the worst happens. Easy to instal on the earlier models base and seems to respond when tested. A well known name with a good reputation so should do the job also fully certified. The only down side is the 10 year sensor life.

It does what it says when pressing the test button. I have to assume it will work if there is smoke or CO2 for real.

My only beef is that the fixing diameter is different from that of the old Kidde it replaced, so I had to drill one new hole in the ceiling. Will I have to again drill a new hole when this Kidde model becomes due for replacement in 10 years time?

Purchased to install in utility room next to boiler. Looks good, appears well made and is from an established company KIDDE rather than some unknown cheap Chinese copy. When it comes to safety I don’t risk buying cheap crap. This manufacturer is well known and experienced in this type of product so my advice is buy from a trusted brand, it’s worth it and in fact isn’t necessarily more expensive either. I have installed these for a number of my property maintenance customers. You get what you pay for. Recommended.

Bought old model 0122UK in January 2013. Product stated it should last 7 years which it did (CO function fails). New model fits straight onto old mounting plate which is an obvious benefit. Access to batteries for replacement has also improved although battery type has changed. If this lasts as well as the last unit then I will be extremely pleased.

I purchased this it on 28 December. 2017. It worked well until recently when it would keep activating. I replaced the battery and it continued to activate. It is obvious that the smoke and carbon monoxide is faulty. I was about to purchase another one when I discovered it had a 10 year warranty. How can I get it replaced ? I contacted Kidde who advised me to hoover out the back of the detector . I reinstated it and it has worked perfectly ever since.
