I ordered 10 of these for an event about environmental science for kids ages 4 through 12. Of the whole set, there was one that was a little glitchy, but all the rest were working perfectly. The glitchy one didn’t turn on at first, and I powered it up and only after about 5 minutes it said that it was at 100% battery. After turning it off and on a few times, the microscope now seems to be working just as well as all the rest of them. The set of slides is a nice mix of things, and the little bug holder and folding legs for the microscope, along with the necklace style carrier, make the product really versatile. I think it will stand up to the test of heavy use by lots of curious young people. The screen isn’t as big as some of the standing microscopes that are available, but the ability to move these microscopes around, and use them as a sort of science oriented magnifier cell phone camera fits the bill for my needs perfectly.

My 8 year old really enjoyed this microscope. It’s very easy to use and has a great picture. I love the fact that it’s so portable and I wanted it to take camping. Definitely a hit.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI got this microscope for my nephew as a gift, who has an inquisitive mind and is always eager to explore his surroundings. It works well as a magnifying tool without the finicky typical nature of a microscope; to put it another way, it’s structured more likely a telescope that you point in a direction than a microscope with slides. Both have their place, but this more portable version makes it easier to observe creatures and objects in their natural habitat.

For some reason only the garnet color is listed, but I got the gray version. Fun gift for kids who want to take science with them!

Testing this for the Vine program.
Used this for an 8 year old who loves it, and finds it very easy to use with minimal instruction and supervision. Nice wide vision field, and easy adjustment, great for smaller hands.
Certainly makes a great gift idea, and kids love to look at every day items, as well as natural like leaves and plants quickly and easily. I thoroughly recommend, well made and a great price.

I was thrilled that my grandson wants me to find more slides and can’t seem to get enough of the digital microscope. Razor sharp images of even the smallest detail. We started looking at how letters were made of tiny dots and he is really intrigued. It’s a tool which is fun to use. The kit include an SD card which makes it easy to video what you are looking at (yes it takes videos) and the whole experience has just been fun and learning while bonding on a device we both are learning from. Thumbs up.

Encourages curiosity in little nature and/or science lovers. This microscope really works. It has good magnifying capabilities for a toy. It takes pictures. It’s easy to use. It comes with plastic slides to get you started. It has pretty good imaging too. It’s great for the price. I would recommend this for 4 years and up with some help from adults. It would make a good gift too.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis camera microscope is easier to use than a traditional microscope. When my younger children try to use our traditional microscope, I end up having to focus and position every slide for them. With this, I can set them loose on slides or objects and they can do all of that themselves. The most important feature is that this takes the frustration out of the microscope experience and makes it easy.

The focus adjuster is a huge dial that is easy to grasp. If turning it moves the microscope out of position, you can just grab the whole thing and slide it around a bit instead of grabbing a small slide. You can put the microscope directly on top of slides in fact. Additionally, the maximum distance that the microscope can focus on from the lens is quite far, which is very helpful.

The most fun comes from being able to place ordinary objects or plants or insects right in front and rapidly get a close up view of them. For younger children, more variety of objects to see may be better than more detail (i.e. higher magnification and more finicky slide adjustment.)

It takes alright pictures although they do seem to suffer from some serious compression with file sizes around 600kb. The rubber flap that covers the ports on the bottom is flimsy and should be handled with care by an adult.

You get some slides and a plastic insect viewing container. There is a strap, too.

Easy for kids to use, versatile with long focal range

Great microscope for kids. Easy to use and everyone can gather around to see on the large screen. Don’t buy a cheaper one with eye piece..kids get frustrated. This microscope is great!

Our daughter loves this microscope. I was easy to set up and has been fun to use. She has explored our house and yard for interesting things to look at. She has found it easy to operate and a ton of fun.
Side note: prepare yourself….we looked at our toothbrushes and fingernails(after washing even!) and let’s just make gagging noises and call it a day.

Easy to self learn as the directions left a little to be desired. Nonetheless, the self learning curve was relatively easy and the product definitely delivers. Great stimulus for learning science for kids <10! Good resolution for the listed magnification. Allows for group learning/observing without the tediousness of the old style eye piece.

I admit that I had low expectations and I admit I was wrong. When I told my brother about it he ordered it while we were still on the phone.
