Glitchy firmware or mine was defective
I would have like this product very much. A good product for the price.
However, I had to return it for these reasons.

    1. Sometimes it would play random notes on it’s own. One key would press (i.e. transmit a message) without me touching it, and would stay pressed (virtually) even if I tap on the key several times. Very odd. I found others reporting that same glitch on forums.

    2. The keyboard would randomly stop sending all notes and control messages. The software on the PC can still “see” the keyboard (it wasn’t disconnected and the driver did not crash). The only workaround is to shut it off and back on, then everything is fine again for a while.

    3. Sticky keys – the semi-weighted key bed had very noticeable “stiction”. When left alone for a few hours, each key would be sticky and heavy on the first press. Subsequent presses were fine. This comes back every time the keybed is left alone for some time.

    4. Minor issue – no built in support for Cakewalk DAW. They put a bunch of time into mapping out control functions for a lot of DAWs, and they skipped Cakewalk? Booo.

Display troppo piccolo, quasi inutile in attivit live.

An EXCELLENT MIDI Keyboard Controller In This Price Range
At the studio I go to, they have a $3,500(CAD) Yamaha MIDI/Workstation combo that is a dream to work on. The keys feel amazing, the sliders & controllers al have a weight to them that make the whole unit feel very durable.

I wasn’t expecting to feel anything even close to that quality in a $400(CAD) package. I am not saying this M-Audio Oxygen Pro 61 — 61 Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller has the same feel as the $3000 Yammy Montage 6 does, but it is a little close and by no means does it feel cheaply made and light/flimsy like many of the sub-$500 keyboards out there.

For the beginners out there, understand that this is NOT a piano or keyboard in the sense that it has its own built-in sounds. For example, if you have a Mac, hook this up to an open port, launch GarageBand and you’re off. You can play traditional piano or organ sounds with this controller or, like the name implies, control the sounds/instruments in GarageBand (or the instruments in a plethora of other audio programs) using the keys or pads on the controller.

I primarily use a program called LogicPro and this controller runs beautifully with it. Everything sounds and feels great with it.

Overall, I am extremely happy with this as a home-studio or even semi-pro level controller. Everything is well laid out and it has a “typical” piano key spacing. The construction is solid and it does not have a steep learning curve.

I hope this review has been helpful. Cheers.

I had an old Radium49 and the Oxygen Pro is big upgrade. The Radium was a cheaper more plastic, lightweight feel and it had a mind of its own randomly changing octaves once in a while. Buttons were cheap too. I was hesitant to buy another M-Audio controller but my trust has been re-established. Keys have a more solid, slightly weighted feel. Most of the complaints seem to be on their tech support, which I haven't has to use. FYI I've had it for a couple months now.

    Almost perfec
I was looking for a Midi controller after a lot of research I settled on this and I am glad I did value for money is excellent.
I am a newcomer to the world of DAW and its a steep learning curve. But this unit has a lot of functionality under the case. There is also a lot of software included to download, ableton lite is fully functional DAW but limited to 8 tracks however I do not get on with it. My choice of DAW is Cakewalk (formally Sonar) but one of the easiest to learn and its free the down side is you need to down load bandlab to use it but it is unobtrusive but needed to download Cakewalk.
Oxygen pro mini is very similar to the Akai mini (owned by the same holding company) the controller has built in, start record, play, buttons built in so for anyone who dislikes using the mouse this addition is brilliant there are also templates built in for nearly all the popular DAWs but the instructions for manually setting the controller to a DAW that has no template.
There is so much built in to this controller I am sure you won’t be disappointed

Mac OS Monterey & Ableton not fully intergrated.
*Double check compatibility if you are running Mac OS Monterey* – 06 Dec 2021

Very well made keyboard that is versatile, great to play on, and looks great.

Unfortunately, after updating to the latest firmware version it did not properly integrate with Ableton. Many of the functions like play, record, stop etc did not work despite setting it to Ableton DAW. Even the D and E keys were not functioning as intended. After many attempts at re-updating, following the manual guide multiple times over, I decided to refund and go for the Novation brand instead.

I really wanted to keep this keyboard as it is beautiful and the 32 keys is a big bonus for its form factor.

There is an article on the website that suggested not updating OS Monterey on Mac. This may change very soon but be sure to double-check compatibility so you can save time troubleshooting how to fix this.

    Happy music making.

Key pad feels great (I would say among the best in the price range), aftertouch is also pretty good (not a lot of controllers in this range have this feature), the hardware on/off switch mean no need to unplug the cable to power off. On the negative side: it feels like pads have high latency (maybe it can be adjusted) and the control buttons feel "plastic-y".

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOttimo prezzo per un ottimo controlle

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSurprisingly impressive
Have been a long-standing fan of M-Audio for many years and have owned every version of the Oxygen Midi Controller they’ve ever released. Have always had mixed results with them and found they were often too cheaply made so that they only lasted a couple of years before needing to be replaced. It was always the sliders that started first, then the knobs and then finally the keybed. However, being quite cheap, they were cheap enough to replace (and it has raised concerns about whether m-audio are just e-waste generators and have no real qualms about making stuff that ends up in the bin).

When I needed to buy a new midi controller recently, I naturally looked around and was actually going to go with an Arturia controller this time since there are plenty reviews praising their build quality. However, noting that m-audio are now making pro studio grade gear, I figured I’d give it a go and have to say, the build quality is lightyears ahead of anything else I’ve owned from them. It feels really solid though there’s no real weight to it. Light enough to drag to a gig or two.

I’m only just scratching the surface but already managed to get it working with Cubase and Reason with literally nothing more than a couple of button presses. However, that’s where the simplicity ended and have spent most of the evening trying to get the thing to work with VCV Rack – literally nothing would map to the sliders or controls on the keyboard. Notes were playing just fine but I guess they don’t really have any complication to them. Unfortunately, when it comes to VCV, there just isn’t a preset and no amount of trying to create one to work with it would actually work. In the end, I figured out there’s a pure midi mode that you can enable which is the actual thing that made it work. Now I figured that out, I’ve been able to get it working fully with VCV.

So, if you’re using something pretty standard, like Ableton, Cubase, Reason, etc, a couple of button presses is all it takes and it just works. If you’re using something non-standard that doesn’t have a built-in preset, then, be prepared to spend a few hours trying to figure it out. It’s a class compliant device so it should work with any midi gear but, if you want to map any of the controls to anything, that’s entirely a different story.

The keybed is decent though it feels a bit light but I’ve spent the better part of the last couple of years playing on a Fantom and Montage so, I think it’s a bit much to expect something like this to match up to premium grade gear like those. However, I think it’s definitely a step up from synths like the Jupiter X and the JD-XA where I do actually prefer the keybed on the Oxygen Pro over those. Feels a bit more responsive and the keys actually feel pretty good on old fingers like mine.

So, overall, I’m quite impressed and credit to M-Audio for the effort they’ve put into it. Going to give it a proper road test in the next few weeks so I’ll be back to update this review once I’ve tried it in a gig or two. Even if it’s not great for live performance, it’s already proving to be incredibly useful in the studio.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersGreat feel
The keybed is great. For someone what wants enough weight for this to feel good for piano, but also be able to play rock organ and synths, it’s a great fit. I had the Axiom Pro before this and the keybed feels very similar. The controls all feel great– the sliders much better than the Axiom pro was for organ.

I’m using this for Mainstage and my only challenge so far has been the set of buttons under the sliders. There’s some way to set them to “midi” mode, but I can’t figure it out yet. If you do get it there, you’ll have to set it each time you turn on the keyboard since it doesn’t save which mode you’re on. That said, if you put them in one of the other modes, they are still sending a midi signal, so you can just set them to “solo” mode and then map those midi signals to your Mainstage buttons.

If you do get this- I found the perfect case. It’s a little random, but normal 61 key cases are just too big. I found that if you search for double rifle cases, the size is perfect. I got one by a company called “Savior” that is very rugged and has great pockets for a good price.

    Hits the Sweet Spo
I wanted a controller for sketching ideas while travelling around. I’ve tried other controllers – NI’s M32 has a nice 3 octave keyboard, but that makes it a little too tall to easily fit into a rucksack. And I never got to grips with the slider pitch/mod controls. Then there was Arturia’s Minilab, which is solidly-built with great keys – but only two octaves, and an unfortunate over-abundance of encoders.

And now I’ve turned to the Oxygen Pro Mini, which I think hits the ‘sweet spot’ – it’s small and light enough to fit into a rucksack. It has 2.5 octaves, which is more manageable in a musical sense. The keys are ok (this shouldn’t really be a deciding factor though – we’re talking about mini-key controllers, not weighted-key behemoths!). And joy of joys, fully-functioning pitch/mod wheels! There are enough controls for you to do some MIDI mapping, not too much to overwhelm. And the mapping software works well.

Any down sides? None really for what it does. The pads aren’t great, and probably better used as MIDI toggles than drum pads. If you lean more towards that, then maybe consider the closest competitor – the Akai MPC Mini.

I’ve used this controller with some cheap speakers (Logitech Z210) which are portable and deliver a not bad (although fairly quiet) sound. I also use a cheap sustain switch (Alesis ASP1) and that does the trick. So, I’ve everything I need for making music on the go! It will never replace my ‘full-sized’ studio arrangement, but it’s perfect for what it is. Well-recommended!

    Great MIDI controller…
Great little controller if you know what your doing and I don’t. This is my first adventure into using MIDI and a PC so I’m a novice.
It took a while, been using on ableton lite which comes as part of the software package.
I’m struggling a little but getting there slowly.
The keyboard it self is great, buttons, sliders and controls all feel good, the keyboard it self has a good feel too. It’s nice and compact so easy to put in your back pack and so on, so very portable. I choose this over the Akai as has more keys.
    Overall very happy

    Nice keyboard
I am a keyboardist and so have played many keyboards, so for it’s price I would say it’s really good as additional effects or as a second board. If you’re not a keys player, then this will suit you fine for midi recordings etc. The only issue is that the drum pads aren’t easy to set up and I haven’t been able to get them working with Ableton yet. Also, the pitch bend is very slow in comparison to regular pitch bends, so as a soloist, this was quite disappointing. The aftertouch is great, the keyboard is very sensitive or not 100% like a piano, because sometimes it registers me playing certain notes a bit louder than they should be, but this only effects recording and isn’t that noticeable during live performance.
But overall, really great for its price. Couldn’t ask for lunch more, just if you’re looking for a pitch bend, this might not be the keyboard for you.

Ideal if you're looking for a great keybed on a budget.
I really like the quality and action of the semi-weighted keys. A great midi controller.
Better quality than my much more expensive Yamaha PSR keyboard. I haven’t mastered mapping all of the controls to my DAW yet but I’m re-learning playing technique now, not audio production.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBest keys out there
I tried several different brands when shopping for a MIDI keyboard; the Oxygen Pro keys have the best feel of any of them. Velocity sensitive and with aftertouch, it doesn’t feel cheap like so many MIDI keyboards.

I rated 4 stars for “Good for beginner” mainly because it definitely helps to know a bit about MIDI and recording if you’re going to use any MIDI keyboard. However, if you are a total beginner you’ll probably find that this keyboard is easy to get up and running.

It comes bundled with software for recording and playing but I didn’t install those so I can’t comment on them.

The Oxygen PRO 49 interfaces nicely with several major DAWs, for example I tried it with Cubase and it was pretty seamless. I use Cakewalk by Bandlab mostly and this keyboard doesn’t support it so I had to find a workaround. If you are fairly tech savvy you should be able to google it and find how to make them play together.

Overall I’m very happy with my Oxygen PRO 49.

The Keyboard itself is really good, but I was having a little trouble on the software registration side and the Support Service is just not responding I wonder if that is a result of the pandemic or its generally just unresponsive.

The best Keybed among ALL the 49keys Midi keyboard
The construction feels premium. The default sensivity is perfect. The keybed (sensation when you push the key) is the best. Simply the best. I’ve tried Arturia, NI Komplete and soooo many 49keys keyboard.
Also for the price, the aftertouch is simply great, you won’t find it at this price range anywhere else. A bit hard to trigger, but it works!
The bonus is all the features coming with. The Smart scale is really handy for not super great player like me! I like the fact it double the note instead of having a ghost note. The Smart chord is also pretty cool to play with. They also did a fantastic job on the arpegiattor, with so many option to custom the way you want…
The clicky plastic button is also way better imho than rubber button. I know it will last!
The only “bad” review would be on the pad, they are pretty hard but I don’t really care because I’m working on a MPC, and I didn’t bought a keyboard for the pads.

All in all, it is ridiculously cheap for what it is doing. 49 keys fit what I’m doing and the space I have, but I would totally have bought the 61 version if I had more space.

Probably a really smart bit of kit but… (word of warning!!!!)
This had to go straight back for a refund. I’m sure it’s a great thing however here’s the thing They always tell you that if you want to use it with an iPad or iPhone, buy the Apple camera kit which allows you to plug the USB from the controller into the adapter and then the mains-powered iPad will power it. THIS IS NO LONGER THE CASE. Apple have reduced the power-availability from the camera kit to any midi controller. So this rather lovely midi keyboard controller is silenced. So I’m sure it’s great if using with a laptop or Mac but if you want to make music through your iPad you’ll have to fork out more money for a powered USB hub. That is a bridge too far for this reviewer. So when it says ‘works with Apple Camera kit’ think again.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersAn unbelievable bit of kit at an amazing price
Where to even start with this?!

I’m just elated that I took the plunge and went with this over the other options that I was looking at.

First off, the keybed is just lovely, and an absolute joy to play. The keys are semi-weighted, but feel much nicer and more natural than other semi-weighted keys that I’ve played before. The keys are nice and quiet when struck, so there’s no need to worry about distracting clicks and thumps when you’re playing (especially if you play with headphones while others are present).

The DAW integration is beautifully executed – you simply choose your DAW from the manual, then make the relevant adjustments in your DAW’s preferences to allow control to the Oxygen.

One of my favourite features is the built in arpeggiator (which can sync to your DAW’s tempo when the Oxygen is set to DAW mode). While every DAW these days has some form of arpeggiator built in, I just love having this at my finger tips. The arp settings can easily be locked to the rotaries on the top right, making experimentation and live changes dead easy to execute, and your DAW will output the actual sounded notes (as opposed to just the chords displayed, when using an arp plugin).

The pitch wheel is nice and light, with just the right amount of resistance, and the mod wheel is smooth and responsive. The drum pads have a satisfying feel and response too, with a nice visual feedback.

The screen is nice and bright, and makes editing parameters a breeze.

You also get a a decent transport section, with all of the expected controls, plus loop on/off, rewind, fast forward, and extra shift functions.

In short, this controller keyboard is, in my opinion, the absolute best that you can get for this sort of price – and I’ve touched upon what it can do here!

Closing note: If you are in two minds about buying this – DO IT! I would give it six stars if I could.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersDiffidate della maggior parte di queste recensioni!

Gute Klaviatur, viele Funktionen, einfache Inbetriebnahme

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersJust the best midi controlle
That’s the best 61 key controller I ever used and believe me, I’ve had and tested, let’s say “a few” (and sold most of them due to their disadvantages). You won’t find anything better for less than 250. Shame there’s no 88 keys keybed as I do compose very often for philharmonic orchestra but hey, it has aftertouch feature in this price range! A bit to much pressure has to be used but still works fine. Noisy, “clicky” sound when pressing keys but this can be forgiven as it has so many sound control options. Fantastic integration with DAW’s, personal midi mappings, 16 pads, sliders on the left side (yay!), software included etc. And this tiny display surprisingly does the job, you don’t really need a bigger one.
    Well done, M-audio.
    Cheers,
    Si.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat Midi Keyboard
I would like to drop a information that might be helpful und save frustration.
The only problem i have with this device are the pads, they are good, but i am a percussionist and they do not fit my needs totally. I think only complex rolls and fills are a bit too much for those pads.

To adjust the pad velocity!!! you need to go to the M-Audio Softwarecenter > Settings > Show Advanced Software.
Then you will find e.g. Oxygen Pro 61 Editor in the softwarecenter, here go to the global tab and you can change now the velocity of the keys and pads (i find high to be best) use the send and retrieve function – you are welcome!

The documentation on the M-Audio side lacks a lot, but the device is well designed – you can check out the youtube channel from DSoundman, he does good tutorial videos for the oxygen pro!

The software package coming with the oxygen pro is really nice!

A bit sad to send it back, give it a chance if you are looking for a midi controller 😉

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersKeyboard good, documentation bad!
This IS a quality product and id give it 4.5 stars if i could.
Im at a slight disadvantage being a cubase user, so auto device mapping may not be so clear as earlier models or with other daws such as Ableton.
I dont know if m-audio can produce some updated software etc to solve this. In the meantime – and this is not explained in the documentation – you need to add a mackie hui device in cubase with the input as midiin3 and set your track inputs to midiin1, not all midi inputs.
Some hoops to jump through that shouldnt be necessary!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersGenial, “artículo sin embalaje adicional”
