I couldn’t understand how people were saying the guard was huge and oversized. I thought they were exaggerating. They were not. It’s so big it looks like fisher price designed it. Product seems good and the variable speed is grea

a nice and powerful brushless motor with a brake fitted for safety, although longer and with a higher body than the old makita grinders the extra oomph from the motor makes it an easy choice.

Lightweight, doesn’t sound as quick but once applied to in my case 40×40 rail/strutt and 10mm rodd etc. Cutting and shampfer soil pipes it’s Brill and the (brake) on the grinder itself is spot on. I’ve had the standard grinder in hand many other times but it’s just weighty, Brill addition to my brushless kit and good good battery power indication too worth every penny. Buy a D quick release clamp to make it even better its spot on.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent grinder! Very powerful and stable, I love not having to worry about a cable. This makes the whole job feel much safer. The 115mm blade width is great for versatility, I could cut curves in 25mm paving slabs easily. Would highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersFor years I’ve relied on cheap angle grinders and always been wary in use as they’re basically a free hand blade running at high speed. The Makita DGA463z is a real improvement.
Soft start is really good so no jolting in the hand when you power on. Electric brake is also great – You can put the tool down within a second or two of powering off.
Tool feels totally solid and controllable in use with little or no vibration, so you end up with much more safe control of the tool. Plenty of power for a cordless and it seems consistently delivered. Eats through a 3amp battery in about 30 mins use cutting masonry so a 5-6 amp probably a better choice.
A couple of minor improvements would make it perfect for a 4 1/2 grinder- the power switch lock on slightly fiddly with thick gloves. Also the safety guard hasn’t got a hard stop on one end of rotation so the clamp lever can hit the housing when you try and close it if its rotated too far. Otherwise well worth the higher cost compared to much cheaper alternatives.
