If you need to drill into steel or concrete or have to demolish something equally hard, this drill with its hammer function is the perfect tool for the job. Goes through concrete like a hot knife through butte

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHammered all day every day for years .. 900mm long 25mm sds masonry bits ..25/32 mm bosch spade bits ..chasing …in the same time our dewalt 18v sds 3years newer has been repaired 4 time and is still not a patch on this.
Buy it .. you won’t be disappointed.

The hammer-stop is a great feature for chasing out walls

Got this to fix things to the walls of my sons newly purchased flat. Really, really solid concrete and rebar walls. My normal Makita combo hammer drill got through the plaster and then just polished my masonry bits for the first couple of holes. Was not looking forwards to trying to do about 15 more holes. Got this and it was a whole new story. Made holes for red 6mm rawlplugs like a knife through butter. Easy to use, uses same batteries as my other Makita tools, not too heavy. Very pleased.

Got this SDS for its breaking ability as I had kitchen tiles to get up, worth every penny a real work tool. It does eat battery charge when using as a breaker but it is an incredible tool great addition to the 18v LXT Makita ki

Can not fault this tool. Easy to use, goes through anything. Not too heavy. Feels like it will last like all my other Makita kit.

perfect if your on the makita battery system, its does what’s needed and lasts longer. don’t worry about the battery mount feeling loose, its the antivibration which is needed for something like this

I chose to go makita cordless way back and have since built up my collection. This is the latest addition and I’m very impressed. I had a notion it would lack power compared to a 240v version but far from it. It’s awesome. The makita drill/chisel set to compliment it is fantastic value for money too at 30 and provides more than enough drills and chisels to keep any DIYer happy. Highly recommended.

In a world full of products with 5 star reviews I’ve come to expect to be slightly underwhelmed by products once I receive them and they don’t live up to the hype. This drill fully deserves the plaudits.

We have recently move into a house where everything is made of extremely hard stuff, and my regular hammer action corded drill wasn’t really up to what should have been easy jobs. I chose this model as I already owned the required battery system so it was relatively inexpensive compared some of the other corded or cordless options.

This is the first SDS drill I’ve used so I don’t know if this drill’s performance is typical of SDS drills or if it is in fact a stand-out example of what an SDS drill should be. In any case, it makes extremely light work of drilling masonry and concrete. As an example, even for a modest sized 6mm diameter hole to a depth of 40mm my standard hammer drill would often require the use of slowly increasing bit sizes and was taking many minutes per bit. The Makita is capable of doing to job with a single bit and in less than 30 seconds. The variable speed trigger is excellent and I found the slowest speed perfect for getting each hole started without any of the wander I would typically get from my old drill.

I have a modest 3.0Ah battery which would rarely need charging when it was powering my Makita combi drill. The DHR202Z does appear to consume a lot of power: after around 5 minutes drilling on a fully charged battery the indicated battery level was already down to 75% (the level indicator of the battery is rather crude so it’s difficult to say exactly what the remaining capacity was). If I were planning to use this drill for any more than light DIY, or if this was my first LXT-powered tool, I would definitely be looking to buy one (or more) of the higher capacity batteries available.

always use makita and have done for a while always top quality and this is no exception, exactly what i would expect from makita tools, very strong and easy to handle and will chew through anything you put up to it very happy purchase

So I ordered this drill as me as cheap tool to use when installing small devices or objects into brickwork such as brackets, CCTV , led ights etc.

This drill is perfect for them but I am shocked at how weak it is. I am would not use this drill for anything heavy duty and I currently have it running from a spare 3ah.

Apart from that it is much quicker than my combi in brick

Was issued with one ones these for work. Had no issues and drill is capable of doing everything an electrician requires from it so decided to buy one for myself. Decent quality all round.

For the price, this drill is brilliant. Bought it when my old drill gave up the ghost trying to drill into concrete posts. Ordered this a new seat of SDS bits and the jobs were completed in minutes. Well worth getting the chuck for using your standard drill bits. 5.0 Amp battery provides excellent longevity. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this for domestic use on heavy duty

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersNever used a sds drill before .didnt even realise there was a Pacific drill for masonry work all ways used a regular drill and spent ages attempting to drill a holes in walls to dull the drill bit .this drill goes through a wall like butter .If your some one who need this type of drill to work on wall ECT it’s a no brainer and was was better than the dewalt version i sent back where the spindle wasn’t spinning cylindrical .most my tools are makita and Bosch makita being the best built longer lasting tool .this drill has a light plus a hammer action for use with a chisel I dont think I need but it’s there and may be handy at some point .the drill is very well made like all makita tools very impressed with it .

good drill, maybe an overkill for DIY and also fairly heavy which is what you can expect with this sort of drill

Purchased this with some hesitation as not having used one before. This has turned out to be one of the best tools I have purchased. I do a lot of DIY and this has made things so much easier. If you are looking for a new SD drill this will not disappoint. I purchased two batteries which are not Makita which have also been very good. I would highly recommend this drill.

Using a 3 or a 4 battery is of no use to use to you really….either a 5 or a 6 is best… especially if you are using for any length of time. Definitely got grunt. But it’s worth if you are breaking through something that isn’t a quick job to use your plug in. I’ve got this drill, also an AVT SDS Makita plug in so either way I’d get whatever job done quickly
I bought this purely for convenience.

Supprised by the quality feel and performance for a 18v tool. Packs a supprising punch! Great for chasing out using 4amp hour batteries. Very impressed for little money.

Beats a brick bolster and club hammer at sinking back boxes and chasing walls. Wish I’d bought and SDS year’s ago.
