Firstly, the lock and chain are brilliant; very well made, sturdy and heavy duty. I must admit it had me pickled to start with as I couldn’t figure out how to put the chain back in, thankfully just messing around I found the two end links only go together one way.
Sadly it was obvious from opening the Amazon box that the item had already been used/returned before as the packaging was off and keys not tied to the lock/chain, just loose in the box with a cut cable tie floating around. There were also marks all over the lovely bright green sleeve, which in fairness doesn’t matter too much as the things going to spend most of its time on the floor anyway.
Does the job as expected, can only use in garage, which is what I bought it for, very heavy.
Would need grinding to break.
Difficult to fasten padlock, due to design, you have to fix one end link through the other end, then insert the lose padlock u bolt, you then have to hold this with one hand, otherwise it all comes apart, then fix the padlock and lock it with the other hand, this is due to the weight.

Arrived promptly and looks the part for security of a bicycle. Good deterrent except for the most serious attempt. Not yet been put to the test and hopefully never will.
Good length of chain and nice protective cover. Works well for securing my motorbike to a ground anchor.
I bought one three years ago and it is still perfect. So I didn’t think too much when I had to buy a second chain. This product is perfect if your motorbike is at risk to be stolen. Whoever tries to break the chain and the padlock have a lot of trouble. The green fabric the thickness and the square shape of the chain discourage thieves.
This is my second Mammoth chain. Paid about 90 for a shorter version which makes this somewhat of a bargain. The chain is excellent quality and it’s nice to have a cover / padlock that stands out – reminding you that it’s attached to the bike. My only reservation is the padlock itself (the part that failed on my last one). It just feels a bit clunky when you’re putting in the key. Something to be aware of when comparing it to others.
Be ware that my order was delivered by UKMail – because I wasn’t in they placed it in our recycle bin on one of the coldest / dampest days of the year. The bin os also at the end of our garden next to a buy road in which people can quite easily access. Wasn’t too impressed by this!
Really good quality. I got this with the ground anchor and I feel my motorbike is properly locked up.
The lock is fine, but the plastic cover on the lock cracked when it fell onto the floor the fist time I used it. A stronger plastic might be a solution.
A good strong chain and padlock in a protective cover. So protecting your bike in two ways, security and not scratching the bits it touches.
Does what it says on the box and is recognised by insurers.
Plus – heavy as! no one is cutting this…

Strong lock. The chain cover faded then fell apart after 6 moths outdoors but that doesn’t effect the chains strength
Good length, lock looks solid enough. Well, nobody tried to steal my bike so I guess it’s working that way. For the used materials’ strength I won’t test that so I have no other choice than to trust the manufacturer.
No issues with the chain ,long enough and sturdy. I would advise using this alongside a disc lock if you are protecting your motorbike as we have all seen the online videos of how quickly these types of chains are cut through.
Feels very safe. It is heavier than I expected. Sometimes it is difficult to operate the key.
Very strong, secure and heavy chain and padlock with a good visual deterrent. Brought this and the 1.2m version, padlocked together to make one long chain to go around my ride on mower after thieving lowlife stole my mower.

Great price, and great product. This is not something you would want to carry on your bike, it weighs as much as a bike wheel, and definitely won’t fit in your pocket. The added security status on this chain is worth the weight, and you won’t lose it (even in the dark). In the event I need another chain I would definitely buy the same again.
I don’t think you can buy a better bike chain for the same price. Compared to Oxford bike chains the Thatcham chain is the one for me plus my insurance company classes it as added security.

This lock is brilliant I’ve owned once for two years and other than getting dirty the lock has not given me any problems because off the size of the thing it is a tad awkward to carry but having it for two years I’ve got used to it so when my brother passed his CBT I brought him one for his bike

Paid 52, has already held up to some robbin’ bastids trying to cut through it, I wasn’t around at the time, but I can see the indentations on the links closest to the lock where they tried in vain to cut through it (probably right before legging it).
The bike isn’t even worth nicking.
Decided on this chain after looking around at various types. It seems well made and robust. It is heavy and therefore only use it at home, not to carry around. Would recommend item.
Chain looks and feels very substantial. The lock does not have the same looking quality as the chain. The ‘U’ bolt action of pushing
into the link and then into the lock takes a bit of getting use to.

Certainly a heavyweight lock and chain, feels sturdy and secure, cannot comment on it’s effectiveness yet but certainly reassures me that it will protect my bike.

its huge… its heavey…. its not the sort of chain you’d want to take around with you on the bike… its rather heavey and beefy… but perfect for locking up at home… the link lock took me a few minutes to get my head around… but got there in the end.

I use this chain every day at home, it is fantastic, gives me piece of mind knowing there’s a little bit extra protection between my bike and someone else. I did try commute with it once, I won’t do that again. The weight is very heavy.

I bought this after having my garage broken into and having my bikes stolen. I am now using this to chain my bicycles to a D ring secured to the garage.
The chain is long enough to go through both wheels, the frame and the D ring which is exactly what I hoped for.
The padlock is very secure because the U piece goes right inside the lock body.
It’s really thick and heavy and could also be used for bicep curls!!
Well made and easy to use, the 1.8 metre chain is perfect for wrapping through the wheel and over the top of the seat on my XT1200Z when there is no immovable object within reach, the cover nicely protects the paintwork from damage.

So we have established that the seller ships fast and without hassle, so what about the actual product?
Well, it’s a class 3 Thatcham approved lock and chain so you know it will take a while for a potential thief to hack,cut and saw through this product.
The chain is nearly 2 metres long and feels really chunky (it’s quite heavy too)
The lock is a bit fiddly at times, but that’s because the metal hook sinks almost all the way into the main body of the lock to prevent the hook being cut tools such as bolt croppers.
So all in all this is a quality product at a very reasonable price and thanks to this seller it was superfast free delivery as well.
This is way heavier than I expected – probably a good 8-10kg. Which is great, solid as hell but just be aware if you’re planning on transporting it around everywhere. Lock is easy to operate.
Firstly super fast delivery!! looks exactly like the photo on amazon, the lock it self is pretty heavy duty can’t imagine this to be an easy lock to break!! so take that would be thieves!!…ha!

to be aware of, this is probably too heavy to carry around with you on the bike
(certainly in a bag) but i bought it mostly for night use in my garage.

The chain is very big and heavy, you need a motor bike to carry it. But looks good for security & thats what it was bought for.
High quality, thick heavy chain, good lock, the green cover is pinned in place so it doesn’t slide off.
Only thing I wasn’t expecting is the black part on top of lock is nylon not steel, but the lock is solid underneath.
Pleasure to deal with, one of the cheapest I could find on the Net and arrive in super fast time. Definitely seems worth the money so far, still have the bike so spot on :).

This chain and lock is totally secure. Put one end of the chain through the other end chain link, add the lock, and you have a high visibility and secure locking system. Add a floor/wall anchor component ( I bought the whole lot from pjb security ) and you have the ultimate deterrent that is insurance approved. Cuts down those premiums! Ideal for motorcycles, ATV’s, caravans etc.
This is certainly no lightweight product. Don’t ride off with this still in situ,it’s not going to let you get away with it.

The only criticism I have is that the advert should have display the Thatcham Anti-theft category…which is a 3 for this item.

The main issue I had is I needed to see a photo of the lock with the chain interwoven to establish how to actually lock the flipping thing! It’s so easy to lock, but it might take quite a while without looking at the picture close up!
A worthwhile purchase! Don’t forget with any lock make sure the padlock is in a difficult place to get to with a sledge hammer!
