Great item, saved me money on heating
I was skeptical at first due to some issues in reviews. However it performed great over two winter seasons of daily use. Keeps my flat dry and warmer (prioduces some small amount of heat). Because of it I used very little electric heating since dry air feels warmer/more comfortable than a humid one. Great for health reasons too, obviously!

    Great for regulating humidity
Good quality, easy to move between rooms, I bought this to reduce humidity in my home and reduce damp. It’s perfect! It’s recommended by which magazine! and does what it should
I used it on max at first for a few weeks but now I use it on low every day and it seems to be low cost on usage too. I wouldn’t be without it!

    Compact dehumidifie
A useful device that is easy to move around. An added bonus is the heat given off in a cold room, makes it quite cosy in winter. On full this machine extracts a lot of moisture and is useful for drying clothes or lowering the humidity in a room. Well worth the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat purchase - definitely helps washing dry quicke
Not having a tumble drier this was purchased to speed up drying of washing on an airer and it definitely does the job. It has also stopped the slightly damp smell that used to develop. It is slightly noisy on full power but that is not a major problem. It is very easy to use and the timer function (just select 1 hr, 2, 4 or 8) is really useful. It does drag an amazing amount of water out of the air but the drawer is extremely easy to empty and we have not had any issues with spills as the machine stops when it is full.

    Fantastic!
This has been a huge revelation! It was recommended to us by our son and how right he was! Not only it soaks up litres and litres of condensation but it also provides some heat in the process. I have it on 3/4 hours a day and it uses about 80p. For that price I get a dry and warm study (I work from home). I’ve become a convert and I will buy another one for the bedroom as it is heavy-ish so not the easiest appliance to take up or down 3 floors! Very highly recommended.

    Does what it should
It’s a sturdy little machine and easy to use. I thought it might dry my washing a bit quicker than it does, but it at least takes the worst of the moisture out of the material. The downside is the lead from the dehumidifier makes it a bit difficult to get the water tray out because it gets in the way, and you get drips on the floor – nothing major and literally just a few drips, it’s just a bit annoying

Have found this Meaco DD8l Portable Dehumidifier very easy to use and to empty. I use it to help dry washing and it is very efficient, the booklet explains all the functions.

    Works very well.
We bought this mainly to aid drying clothes when the weather is wet and the heating is not on. It works very well at doing this, and has made drying clothes much easier.Uses far less electricity than a tumble dryer. The machine is compact, not obtrusive and quiet. It is easy to move and to empty.

    Simply amazing
Absolutely worth any penny, removes moisture like magic, clothes drying within night, no more moisture on the windows. Cost of running not bad, on low setting it takes 250W, high 600, however for me it’s always in low and I need to empty it twice a day amazing

    Working well.
The dehumidifier arrived really quickly and was put to work in the conservatory. It has collected many litres of water from the atmosphere. All the textiles in there feel much better than before.

Good product, few tweaks required to be a great produc
This is a good product, does what it says, especially the laundry mode. A few small tweaks would make it a great product; i.e. wheels to allow ease of movement and the water removal container would be more practical at the front. Finally, a longer cable would be better.

    Does what it's supposed to.
    Easy to use/operate.
Extracts water as you would expect it to.
No wheels or castors but light enough to move around the house easily.
Everything seems to work as it should.
Only 4 out of 5 stars as it is a bit expensive to buy.

    Good produc
Overall very happy with this dehumidifier. Seems well built and it works well for our 3 bed semi. Love that it is very slimline.

Dropped one star for a couple of niggles. I think it could look more modern/pleasing considering it has to be in quite visible places. The controls could be more intuitive and it never remembers previous settings. So turning it on takes about 5-6 button presses for my preferred settings. Also there’s no way to delay start even with a smart plug it wouldn’t actually turn on at scheduled time.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersVery efficient, but beware of the costs
The dehumidifier is small, portable, very efficient (that’s an understatement) and extremely helpful in keeping our conservatory dry and moldless.
However after a month of use, mostly at night, I noticed that our electricity use have spiked significantly compared to the month before. We mostly use gas heating in our house so the only difference is this little fellow. It’s good, but use it sensibly or you’ll be way out of pocket before you even know it with the current energy costs.

    Huge Improveme
Great purchase and solid Best Buy rating from Which.
We dry our clothes in our heated garage during the winter, but it doesn’t have ideal ventilation. Before using the DD8L, it would take ages. Now two loads are bone dry within 4 hours. On my personal short-list of best purchases for 2022.

Very fast and quiet and efficie
This excellent machine was recommended by my brother in law as he suffers from some cold north facing walls in his Brighton property and therefore damp moisture etc. we have an en-suite bathroom that has a long North facing wall in original old stone – cold all the time and plenty of condensation despite all efforts.
Enter the Meaco! Simply place the machine in the bathroom (open door) and switch on and about 25p later in switches off automatically. Remove the easy access water tank – empty – replace and pop in cupboard for next time. Lovely dry – fresh bathroom – even the glas panels on the shower are none dry. Love i

    Water collecto
Meaco junior, small and portable, collecting reasonable amounts of water. Running couple of hours a day, located on the top landing. Tried drying clothes, seems to work but got to run for few hours in enclosed space like a bathroom. Recommended.

    Very effective
This dehumidifier is very effective and efficient. In winter weather our windows were streaming with condensation. It lowered the humidity in our bungalow over a couple of weeks so that we now only need to put it on at night in the lounge to ensure condensation free windows in the morning. It is economical to use as once the desired humidity has been achieved it switches off and only comes on occasionally to check the humidity and restarts if necessary.

    super efficie
his machine is quiet and very effective. we had it on in our caravan and it did an amazing job in the small space. It would be good to have handles either side so easier to maneuver and the water container should be at the front so you don’t have to move it each time you needed to empty the vessel.

    Meaco portable dehumidifie
Bought this for my glass garden room which is ALL glass sliding doors and roof which since cold weather started developed condensation on ceiling glass. It won’t work in a garden room as the glass sliding doors have gaps which allow air in and out so allowing more damp air in as well as out but in a closed room I can imagine this working very well indeed. So those of you with garden rooms need to optimise ventilation to reduce condensation.

Easy to operate and easy to move around.
During the colder months we noticed a bit of condensation in the conservatory so we purchased this unit to help control it. It does a great job, its quite surprising how much moisture is in the air, after a short run of only two hours the unit had removed about a pint and half of water from the air. The unit is very easy to operate with push button selection for fan speed and humidity level required. It also has an ioniser for the filtered air but we haven’t used this function as of yet. The water it removes is collected in a container at the bottom of the unit, this simply pulls out for emptying. One other useful function is for assisting the drying of washing indoors. With the current energy prices it is far too expensive to use a tumble dryer but with this unit you can set it to laundry mode and it will assist the drying of the clothes indoors at a fraction of the cost of running a tumble dryer. It doesn’t totally dry the clothes but it certainly help. Good purchase and good value for money.

I don’t often write reviews but this deserves one. It really is as good as it says!
We bought it for our old damp house and it hasn’t disappointed. I also use it speed up drying washing . It’s easily moved, easy to empty and the best chunk of money we’ve spent in a long time. Worth the investment. It is noisy but it’s basically a big fan so it’s going to be.

    Impressive
So far, so good. It’s early days yet, but have been amazed at drying option for washing, the amount of water accumulated in a short space of time is mind boggling and have reduced the time my heating is on! What would take a day, now takes 2 hours, am so impressed. I will see how bills are affected in due course.

Plastics feel cheap, so have no idea of longevity, caution will need to be taken especially with the reservoir or drawer that collects the water, but performance wise it’s very good.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI give the Meaco DD8L desiccant dehumidifier full marks
We only have space for a washer dryer. The dryer function is feeble, drying towels takes hours. We hang out washing when we can, but that isn’t an option during winter. I heard about Meaco from relatives who had bought them and were very impressed, so I bought a Meaco DD8L desiccant dehumidifier from Amazon. It is such a relief to be able to dry items so quickly and not have washing hanging around for several days in the winter months. A batch of my wife’s knickers was dry after only 2 hours, and a batch of towels was dry after only 4 hours. I regret not buying one sooner.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBest dehumidifier I have purchased.
I love this dehumidifier it really does the job of getting rid of condensation on my windows in my conservatory. The dehumidifier blows warm air which is perfect to warm the room as well as clearing the condensation. Reasonable quiet compared to other dehumidifier’s. Easy to manoeuvre and empty the water.
Can also be used for drying washing. Might be a bit more expensive than other dehumidifier’s but it’s worth the extra expensive as it does exactly what I wanted from a dehumidifier. Recommend.

A good, easy to use unit. We have used it in a 2 bed apartment, wooden 16’x12′ bike shed, attic with a damp roof and now my son has it to dry laundry in their damp rented cottage. In each situation it has been effective. The only downside is the size of the tank for the amount of water the unit extracts. Continuous drainage is available if you have some where to drain the water to.

I can smell the freshness in the air as the damp smell starts to fade.
    I’ve used it everyday almost 12hours a day for 7 days…
It fills up the water & clears the air.
It is loud when in the same room but in the back room i actually like it…

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersGood so far (2 day review)
Uninsulated garage was 90% rh, this mamaged to bring it down to 72%, impressive for a domestic unit! Even if still to high! Ideally I need 60% it’s better than nothing and if you insulate the garage too (about 1 grand) then I think it can really bring it down in the 50s.
My only ‘complaint’ is that yes! It REALLY does increase you energy cost, beware, this could add 30 or 40 quid, and our usual cost is 60 a month, so quite crazy. Also, getting the water tank out is just ever so slightly tricky enough to make a tiny little spillage which is annoying.
Recommended overall but can’t comment on durability yet.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersEfficient dehumidifie
Trying to reduce tumble dryer use and researched dehumidifiers on Which? This one is a recommended Best Buy. It was delivered quickly. Instructions are easy to understand and machine is really easy to use. It’s got a 2 year warranty and is made in Britain.
So far I have used it to dry out a room which was getting damp from hanging laundry and it solved the issue of a swollen door in just 2 hours. I’ve also used it on laundry mode. It dried clothes in a few hours. Meaco website says it is 22p an hour to run on this setting which is a lot cheaper than tumble dryer so what to do with laundry over winter is sorted.
    Really pleased with this purchase.

Bought this for my motorhome while it was sat on the drive for weeks at a time and it works a treat. Not only does it take a lot of moisture out of the air but it also warms it up a few degrees in there. The drainage pipe system works well and it is small enough to sit on top of the worktop next to the sink. It takes about 10 minutes to shut down if you want to move it but it is light to carry.

We bought this as I can’t bring myself to spend 2 a load in the drier, but we can’t get washing dry outside at this time of year. We have 3 clothes horses in a box room – put this in there and shut the door. We have it on full power at 22p a minute for 6 hours and things are pretty much dry by the next day. 1.32 to dry 2-3 washes is a lot more reasonable, and you don’t have damp/condensation issues. Not cheap, but it does work well.

I wouldn’t normally write a review so soon after purchase, but I literally got this today – my son’s room has been cold for years, bought a hydrometer at the weekend and it’s read a constant 78-80% Plugged this dehumidifier in at 2.45pm today, went on the school run, by the time I got home and checked on it his room was reading 50% humidity! Moved it to my other boys room, checked on it an hour later and the tank was half full of water. Seriously can’t believe how good it is – and I’m shocked at how much water its removing!! It’s not sat in the hallway upstairs and will be left on overnight. We live in a 1930s detached with various extensions. Chose this type of dehumidifier over a compressor as we’re trying not to switch the heating on too much and have an open conservatory, the house tends to be cold. This gives off heat which suits me (doubt we’ll need to use it in the summer months). I wish I’d bought this years ago! And it’s not too noisy at all, even in full fan speed.

Fantastic for damp homes or drying washing
We were amazed at just how much water this machine sucks out of the air. It has cured the problems we were having in our damp cottage living room – amazing! We ran it for a couple of hours daily for about a week and now just need it every couple of weeks to keep moisture levels down. It is also amazing for drying wet washing – we just hang it on our airer, turn it on at the same time as the heating is on – in an hour even towels are dry. It just sucks all the water out. My sister saw it in action and then bought one for herself & they love theirs too.
