The dehumidifier arrived really quickly and was put to work in the conservatory. It has collected many litres of water from the atmosphere. All the textiles in there feel much better than before.

Absolutely worth any penny, removes moisture like magic, clothes drying within night, no more moisture on the windows. Cost of running not bad, on low setting it takes 250W, high 600, however for me it’s always in low and I need to empty it twice a day amazing

This is a good product, does what it says, especially the laundry mode. A few small tweaks would make it a great product; i.e. wheels to allow ease of movement and the water removal container would be more practical at the front. Finally, a longer cable would be better.

    Easy to use/operate.
Extracts water as you would expect it to.
No wheels or castors but light enough to move around the house easily.
Everything seems to work as it should.
Only 4 out of 5 stars as it is a bit expensive to buy.

Overall very happy with this dehumidifier. Seems well built and it works well for our 3 bed semi. Love that it is very slimline.

Dropped one star for a couple of niggles. I think it could look more modern/pleasing considering it has to be in quite visible places. The controls could be more intuitive and it never remembers previous settings. So turning it on takes about 5-6 button presses for my preferred settings. Also there’s no way to delay start even with a smart plug it wouldn’t actually turn on at scheduled time.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe dehumidifier is small, portable, very efficient (that’s an understatement) and extremely helpful in keeping our conservatory dry and moldless.
However after a month of use, mostly at night, I noticed that our electricity use have spiked significantly compared to the month before. We mostly use gas heating in our house so the only difference is this little fellow. It’s good, but use it sensibly or you’ll be way out of pocket before you even know it with the current energy costs.

Great purchase and solid Best Buy rating from Which.
We dry our clothes in our heated garage during the winter, but it doesn’t have ideal ventilation. Before using the DD8L, it would take ages. Now two loads are bone dry within 4 hours. On my personal short-list of best purchases for 2022.

This excellent machine was recommended by my brother in law as he suffers from some cold north facing walls in his Brighton property and therefore damp moisture etc. we have an en-suite bathroom that has a long North facing wall in original old stone – cold all the time and plenty of condensation despite all efforts.
Enter the Meaco! Simply place the machine in the bathroom (open door) and switch on and about 25p later in switches off automatically. Remove the easy access water tank – empty – replace and pop in cupboard for next time. Lovely dry – fresh bathroom – even the glas panels on the shower are none dry. Love i

Meaco junior, small and portable, collecting reasonable amounts of water. Running couple of hours a day, located on the top landing. Tried drying clothes, seems to work but got to run for few hours in enclosed space like a bathroom. Recommended.

This dehumidifier is very effective and efficient. In winter weather our windows were streaming with condensation. It lowered the humidity in our bungalow over a couple of weeks so that we now only need to put it on at night in the lounge to ensure condensation free windows in the morning. It is economical to use as once the desired humidity has been achieved it switches off and only comes on occasionally to check the humidity and restarts if necessary.

his machine is quiet and very effective. we had it on in our caravan and it did an amazing job in the small space. It would be good to have handles either side so easier to maneuver and the water container should be at the front so you don’t have to move it each time you needed to empty the vessel.

Bought this for my glass garden room which is ALL glass sliding doors and roof which since cold weather started developed condensation on ceiling glass. It won’t work in a garden room as the glass sliding doors have gaps which allow air in and out so allowing more damp air in as well as out but in a closed room I can imagine this working very well indeed. So those of you with garden rooms need to optimise ventilation to reduce condensation.

During the colder months we noticed a bit of condensation in the conservatory so we purchased this unit to help control it. It does a great job, its quite surprising how much moisture is in the air, after a short run of only two hours the unit had removed about a pint and half of water from the air. The unit is very easy to operate with push button selection for fan speed and humidity level required. It also has an ioniser for the filtered air but we haven’t used this function as of yet. The water it removes is collected in a container at the bottom of the unit, this simply pulls out for emptying. One other useful function is for assisting the drying of washing indoors. With the current energy prices it is far too expensive to use a tumble dryer but with this unit you can set it to laundry mode and it will assist the drying of the clothes indoors at a fraction of the cost of running a tumble dryer. It doesn’t totally dry the clothes but it certainly help. Good purchase and good value for money.

I don’t often write reviews but this deserves one. It really is as good as it says!
We bought it for our old damp house and it hasn’t disappointed. I also use it speed up drying washing . It’s easily moved, easy to empty and the best chunk of money we’ve spent in a long time. Worth the investment. It is noisy but it’s basically a big fan so it’s going to be.

So far, so good. It’s early days yet, but have been amazed at drying option for washing, the amount of water accumulated in a short space of time is mind boggling and have reduced the time my heating is on! What would take a day, now takes 2 hours, am so impressed. I will see how bills are affected in due course.

Plastics feel cheap, so have no idea of longevity, caution will need to be taken especially with the reservoir or drawer that collects the water, but performance wise it’s very good.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI love this dehumidifier it really does the job of getting rid of condensation on my windows in my conservatory. The dehumidifier blows warm air which is perfect to warm the room as well as clearing the condensation. Reasonable quiet compared to other dehumidifier’s. Easy to manoeuvre and empty the water.
Can also be used for drying washing. Might be a bit more expensive than other dehumidifier’s but it’s worth the extra expensive as it does exactly what I wanted from a dehumidifier. Recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best dehumidifier I have purchased.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe only have space for a washer dryer. The dryer function is feeble, drying towels takes hours. We hang out washing when we can, but that isn’t an option during winter. I heard about Meaco from relatives who had bought them and were very impressed, so I bought a Meaco DD8L desiccant dehumidifier from Amazon. It is such a relief to be able to dry items so quickly and not have washing hanging around for several days in the winter months. A batch of my wife’s knickers was dry after only 2 hours, and a batch of towels was dry after only 4 hours. I regret not buying one sooner.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersA good, easy to use unit. We have used it in a 2 bed apartment, wooden 16’x12′ bike shed, attic with a damp roof and now my son has it to dry laundry in their damp rented cottage. In each situation it has been effective. The only downside is the size of the tank for the amount of water the unit extracts. Continuous drainage is available if you have some where to drain the water to.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersUninsulated garage was 90% rh, this mamaged to bring it down to 72%, impressive for a domestic unit! Even if still to high! Ideally I need 60% it’s better than nothing and if you insulate the garage too (about 1 grand) then I think it can really bring it down in the 50s.
My only ‘complaint’ is that yes! It REALLY does increase you energy cost, beware, this could add 30 or 40 quid, and our usual cost is 60 a month, so quite crazy. Also, getting the water tank out is just ever so slightly tricky enough to make a tiny little spillage which is annoying.
Recommended overall but can’t comment on durability yet.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersTrying to reduce tumble dryer use and researched dehumidifiers on Which? This one is a recommended Best Buy. It was delivered quickly. Instructions are easy to understand and machine is really easy to use. It’s got a 2 year warranty and is made in Britain.
So far I have used it to dry out a room which was getting damp from hanging laundry and it solved the issue of a swollen door in just 2 hours. I’ve also used it on laundry mode. It dried clothes in a few hours. Meaco website says it is 22p an hour to run on this setting which is a lot cheaper than tumble dryer so what to do with laundry over winter is sorted.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersWe bought this as I can’t bring myself to spend 2 a load in the drier, but we can’t get washing dry outside at this time of year. We have 3 clothes horses in a box room – put this in there and shut the door. We have it on full power at 22p a minute for 6 hours and things are pretty much dry by the next day. 1.32 to dry 2-3 washes is a lot more reasonable, and you don’t have damp/condensation issues. Not cheap, but it does work well.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBought this for my motorhome while it was sat on the drive for weeks at a time and it works a treat. Not only does it take a lot of moisture out of the air but it also warms it up a few degrees in there. The drainage pipe system works well and it is small enough to sit on top of the worktop next to the sink. It takes about 10 minutes to shut down if you want to move it but it is light to carry.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI wouldn’t normally write a review so soon after purchase, but I literally got this today – my son’s room has been cold for years, bought a hydrometer at the weekend and it’s read a constant 78-80% Plugged this dehumidifier in at 2.45pm today, went on the school run, by the time I got home and checked on it his room was reading 50% humidity! Moved it to my other boys room, checked on it an hour later and the tank was half full of water. Seriously can’t believe how good it is – and I’m shocked at how much water its removing!! It’s not sat in the hallway upstairs and will be left on overnight. We live in a 1930s detached with various extensions. Chose this type of dehumidifier over a compressor as we’re trying not to switch the heating on too much and have an open conservatory, the house tends to be cold. This gives off heat which suits me (doubt we’ll need to use it in the summer months). I wish I’d bought this years ago! And it’s not too noisy at all, even in full fan speed.

We were amazed at just how much water this machine sucks out of the air. It has cured the problems we were having in our damp cottage living room – amazing! We ran it for a couple of hours daily for about a week and now just need it every couple of weeks to keep moisture levels down. It is also amazing for drying wet washing – we just hang it on our airer, turn it on at the same time as the heating is on – in an hour even towels are dry. It just sucks all the water out. My sister saw it in action and then bought one for herself & they love theirs too.

Very happy with this little unit. Being a desiccant, it works well in less warm environments, so we don’t need to put the heating on! The little device blows out a pleasant little gust of warm air while operating which also helps warm our house.

It has successfully shifted a bunch of black mould which we couldn’t previously do much about and seems pretty efficient to run. Fills it’s little tank after about 6 hours on, but I guess that will vary from one environment to another.

It’s not silent, but equally, I have never found it overly noisy. Again, your perception will vary! I don’t leave it on overnight, but don’t think I would have a problem sleeping with it on the landing. Great product overall.

We use this in a big old damp house. We bought one last year, and this year bought another so we can have one on each floor. These dehumidifiers are pretty quiet – I wouldn’t sleep in a room with one running, but in general it’s little more than background noise.

  46. Anonymous says:

Using the lower speed fan setting and placing the device in the landing keeps all bedroom, bathroom and landing windows free from condensation, just keep the doors slightly ajar to achieve this. We use this most nights and whilst it does have a drying effect on the skin (it is after all meant to remove moisture from the air!) The benefits of air with moisture removed are there to be had, less impurities from the air inhaled whilst sleeping and clear windows, a desiccated model suits our environment, the upstairs rooms tend to be around 18 degrees Celsius in the winter months.
I have not ascertained running costs and the appliances impact on our energy expenditure yet. This may be a factor in frequency of usage given the recent hikes in energy prices. A month into ownership and so far quite pleased with the product. In our environment the reservoir needs emptying every 10 – 12 hours of usage. It is easy to remove and fit back in. The unit is not obtrusive and has a small enough footprint.
    A worthwhile investment.

The dehumidifier is quite light and easy to place . It can be connected to a plastic tube to feed into a sink.

I bought this to dry out my garage and shed. Unlike refridgeration types this dessicant type works at low temps just above freezing. Simple to operate with clear controls. Compact so stows away easily when nt being used.

Only “flaw” is a small tank. So damp rooms or shed may need the tank emptied a couple of times a day until they dry out. Another penny pinch is not supplying a hose to drain it instead of using fitted tank to trap water. Suppsedly to avoid waste. Sorry for something that would cost the maker pennies I want a drain option.

Hence 1 star knocked off. If that doesn’t matter to you then it’s a buy!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSo I had a prob with condensation, i live in a small flat with lots of big windows and a patio door Nice but in the cold weather it was a problemb also if i went a little crazy in the kitchen it would be realy bad. no 3 issue was dying clothes which ,yes you guessed made it worse , So tired of squegeing the hole of the windows and doors i decided to try this method , I chose the DD8L primeraly becouse it was the Which best buy, and from the reviews (right this time ) the size was a little concern but in the event not a prob , Of we went arrived as expecter , very well packed and in real lfe not unattractive , and with excellent instructions
So the first test was to leave it on for three hours to see what happend , with all the windows shut , , i was amazed at the volume of waser in the tank almost full after two hours , reading the instructions there are many ways to configer the machine to suit your need you soon find out , Drying clothes is a breeze put the laundry on an airer shut it in the bathroom with the machine ,set on dryer close the door. presto all dry light items were a breeze !! heavy ones a little longer ,and it will generate heat ,,, some reviews have mentioned a smell from the machine but i found it rather pleasent , so all this in a one bedroom flat , might be a little overkill with this machine but i love it it works a treat for me !

So I had a prob with condensation, i live in a small flat with lots of big windows and a patio door Nice but in the cold weather it was a problemb also if i went a little crazy in the kitchen it would be realy bad. no 3 issue was dying clothes which ,yes you guessed made it worse , So tired of squegeing the hole of the windows and doors i decided to try this method , I chose the DD8L primeraly becouse it was the Which best buy, and from the reviews (right this time ) the size was a little concern but in the event not a prob , Of we went arrived as expecter , very well packed and in real lfe not unattractive , and with excellent instructions

The unit removes water very well. Unfortunately, the cellar that I was trying to dry out proved to be too wet!

Removes shed loads of water. Dessicant system much better than compressor. Bit tricky to move around. Emptying tank is easy. Slightly noisy on higher fan modes. But I’m sure this the same with most units. Don’t hesitate to buy this you won’t regret i

Bought as blinds in conservatory got mouldy as its cold in winter. Humidity was at 80% some days. Bought this and set at 60% and no damp. Uses about 2 units of electric per day (14.4p a unit kwh so about 28p day). Will get less when spring arrives. Also being decassent type outputs warm air (10 degrees higher than room) stops conservatory freezing. No more condensation on windows either.

Oh my goodness. If I’d known it would ld work like this I would of bought one a long time ago. It’s light enough to move around and it drys my washing so fast. I can’t believe the heat that comes from it. I’m confident it will stop the damp and mould in my bedroom. I have to empty it regularly but it shows how it’s working.

This is a great product. We needed a dehumidifier for our conservatory which gets condensation on the glass in the winter. This product gets rid of it fairly quickly. It only has a small tank so not ideal for a large area and a lot of condensation. Although the tank is easy to remove and empty.

Best Buy of the year.. l live in a 2 bedroom flat and although l have double glazed windows l obviously must have had a problem with moisture.. as l empty a unit of water at least once a day ..my heating is not at its best and this provides warmth and l dry clothes indoors if the weather is not accommodating so yes please don’t hesitate.

Superb de-humidifier. Very happy with its efficiency and has solved the humidity problems in the house

This dehumidifier is a definate in any household. Had alot of moisture in the house with windows constantly having water on them in the morning. Had this running a few hrs everyday and no.more moisture on the windows. Also very useful is the drying clothes option, uses less energy then a dryer.
Also weighs less then other dehumidifiers so easy to move around the house. Easy to use functions and buttons.

It’s incredible how fast this dehumidifier removes water from air. I can see why Which! named it best buy so many times in a row. If you can afford the higher model it’s well worth it as this is slighly missing on the fact that there is no humidity display present. However if dry air is all you need it does it’s job well. Only downside I can say is that after removing water tank some water might spill out of machine – need to be careful of that.

Didn’t believe such a compact dehumidifier could so effectively banish roof condensation. Easy to set up and use. Even on the lowest fan settings the unit quickly removed the condensation in the unheated conservatory.Just need to empty the reservoir every 3/4 days.

One room was getting a lot of condensation. Had the dehumidifier a couple of months now and the problem has gone. I haven’t needed to run it all that much to solve the problem. I have used the low level setting mainly because it is a small room and that humidity level seems to be fine. I have used the dry washing setting too which speeds up clothes drying well and more importantly for me stops the room getting very damp when full of wet clothes. It has a timer function which I use all the time which works on all the settings. It isn’t too big and is easy to move around. Would definitely recommend.

I chose this model on the basis of a good review in Which and it has fully matched my expectations. It is light enough to move around the house to where it is needed. The controls are simple and user friendly but provide a wide range of options. It is very effective in doing the job. Which’s only slight criticism that the water container is rather small has proved no problem for me.

Warmth was not somethhing I was particulary concerned about but it has proved more effective than I expected in raising the temperature in the conservatory, usually chilly in the winter. An excellent product at a reasonable price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am able to review this well in that this one from amazon is the second one I own, the first one bought elsewhere but used a lot with no issues.
So right out of the box its very easy to use. It has a simple button and light display. I own this current model and the Junior either work the same..
So The first I use 24/7 in a 14ft by 7ft trailer where I store a motorbike and lots of my kity. It was soaking before i used this. I was reluctant to put on all the time but invested in an ace litle product from amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08BHPS45S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This tells me what the temp and humidity is all the time by phone app so i knew how efficiently the Meaco was working. I could see that the dehumidifier turns itself off all the times and keeps it nice and dry.

The second one is for a much much larger workshop and it has taken a while to get it dry but now again no issues. I have rigged that up so i have a 5 gallon water container to drain it into via a small tube.

They are quiet and very good.
NOTE… If you need to permenantly drain you will need to but tube or have some.. also keep the filters clean. Otherwise its great.
Does have a 2 – 8 hr in built timer. If you do not want to rum 24 – 7 then note that you are not supposed to run these on a timer as the machine needs a cool down period. If this is the case buy the zambese versio

Second time I’ve bought this model (first time was 8 years ago!) Fantastic, put it on in the hallway downstairs throughout winter and all the windows are bone dry in the morning (standard size 3 bedroom house). If we didn’t use it then we’d have a lot of condensation. Also noticeable using it the house stays warmer. Easy to take upstairs and carry around e.g. we tend to hang clothes to dry in sparebedroom. Would recommend this to anyone.

Have now been using this for 4 months over the winter and I’m very impressed. It has definitely reduced the amount of dampness in the house (3 bed detached – 2 occupants), this is evident from the amount of water that gets produced when in use. The main sources of humidity in the house are showers (no extractor fan), cooking (no extractor fan), and clothes washing that we dry in the house in the winter (no tumble dryer). We only have the device turned on when carrying out these activities.

The first impression is that this product is pleasingly designed and doesn’t look like an appliance brought indoors from the garage. The machine is easy to operate and has clear controls. The makers describe themselves as a private British company and reinforce this image with a logo of Union flags on their enclosed leaflet. On checking the serial number I found a note to say that the item was in fact made in the People’s Republic of China. This was disappointing to someone who is keen to support British manufacturers and avoid the increasing market saturation by the PRC. It’s a good product, but it loses a star for not being locally produced and sadly I shall not be buying another product.

Ideal dehumidifier. Seemed a bit noisy at first but really pretty quiet as you get used to it. Very effective at dehumidifying,, amazing how much water it extracts out of the air, with simple controls, easy to empty water tank. Bonus point is it can act as a clothes dryer to so no need to use washing machine dryer! Not designed to give out heat just – a gentle lukewarm air flow as it dries the filter. Feels safe in that it stops when tank is full or unit is tilted. Economical as it constantly monitors humidity every 30 minutes and then only switches on when levels drop below settings and only operates again until level achieved. Our conservatory is 20 ft x 11 ft and is not damp anymore..

My flat has metal framed windows which results in a lot of condensation. I used to have to mop the widow
sills every cold morning – but no longer! It’s a bit noisy so I turn it off at night but I don’t need to have it on all the time anyway. I’m delighted with it. It’s very efficient.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe dehumidifier is great. Dries washing fast and brings room humidity down quickly. I can move it around easily as very light. Not as quite as quiet as advertised and I couldn’t sleep with it in the same room (which I don’t want to anyway). Only downside so far, is emptying the tank. The tank itself comes out okay but can be awkward to put back as you have to line the tank up with the base and the cable can get in the way. If you have to carry the tank far or down stairs to empty you are best to pour it into a bucket first. It is probably more expensive to run than my ebac but it dries the washing faster and much easier to move around and you can use it straight away as opposed to having to let it stand in situ.
