There are cheaper ones around but this one looks good and works. So easy to set up and use.
Works really well – app is easy to use and probe seems accurate against my thermopen.
I got this on Prime day and so it had about 40 per cent off the list price. Fantastic value. And it works superbly. I am so happy with it. Cooking joints has never been easier. This is such a smart piece of cooking kit. Very impressive.
A game changer as far as accurate cooking goes. Able to see the oven temperature is 10oC lower than expected. Being able to watch the graph of meat temperature to not just know when it is done, but being able to accurately predict when it will be done so I dont overshoot.
Only criticism? No way it is good for 50m connection to my phone. It struggles over 20m but so far, this has not been a limitation.
Love this thermometer, works great and makes cooking much easier, the app has some great features too
Faffing with wires is no fun, and Meater have designed a quality product!
I do hope they produce a universal wireless fan controller for kamado BBQs before anyone else as I love there app integration and usage. Excellent UX!
Very impressive, but it seems to overcook everything by about 2 degrees so I recommend taking off the heat 7 degrees before the target temp rather then waiting for MEATER to tell you to take it off the heat 5 degrees before finish
Perfect for BBQs and Air fryer, I didn’t want to like this one because of the price. But honestly, some of the best joints I have ever cooked with the cooking time and resting time function with the app.
We had a professional BBQ chef come to our home for a demonstration /cookery lesson & she used one of these. It works really well, together with an app & makes life so much easier. There are no trailing wires to a monitor to tangle with which is especially useful of you are cooking on a spit. It takes all the guesswork out and is equally brilliant in the oven which will be great at Christmas , as when the whole country are roasting turkeys the oven temp & timings never quite work out.
The connection to the probe worked perfectly even though my BBQ is solid steal, and the lid was closed.
Meat choice can be difficult because only USA cuts of meat are listed on the app. So identifying a UK cut can be a bit of a guess.
The results have been very good.
So easy to use and ensure good results it is like magic – amazing!
I have used this just twice – once with a whole chicken, once with tomahawk steak.
The chicken was great, but no surprise and it’s not so hard to get good results anyway.
The tomahawk though proved the value of the Meater. As a thick steak with bone in I was nervous of judging readiness by finger prod test as I don’t cook these often enough to judge well.
I was surprised to find tomahawk listed in the menu of set up options so set up (to medium rare) was easy. I cooked it at high searing temperature so could have had little margin for error in timing.
Results were bang on in terms of cooking time (prediction and finish alert) and also of doneness. The MEATER also gave a resting time reading, but that seemed a bit shorter than I would normally have allowed – so I gave it a bit more (as was still prepping sides).
It certainly gave me confidence for the trickier cuts
The concept is great, the form is great, and the function is great, once you realise the limitations: TLDR you’re paying a lot for the wireless function.
The initial setup is straightforward, bear in mind the recharging process is derived from a AAA battery. Pairing the device is easy over Bluetooth, and providing you realise that the range between the probe and the receiver is quite short, especially if you’re using an oven. If like me, you’re fridge is close to a built in oven, then it will attach magnetically to it. The meater + has a good range from the receiver to your phone or tablet, and unless you live in a castle or your grill is on the ground floor of a high rise block of flats you’ll have no problem connecting it all up. In use, it’s ridiculously simple, the app is intuitive and easy to use, and the UI is perfect, ideal for a tablet set up on a kitchen worktop. However the confusion arises over the extended range option, which uses the meater cloud connection. You’ll need to register your app account with their cloud for this to work, but you’ll need more than one phone or tablet to be able to roam away from home and still access the data. So big -ve point #1 is you need more than one device, so if you don’t, you’d need to add the cost of a tablet or phone to use this! Issue #2 is that the instructions fail to mention that for Android users, this remote feature is automatic, ie so long as both devices are logged into the cloud account, and the device left at home is connected to your WiFi network. I discovered randomly this feature from a YouTube reviewer, meater’s own instructions on their website are confusing, or rather missing this important point!
Other than that, it’s worked well so far, and wireless is great for outdoor cooking!
After hearing about Meater I did my research and eventually opted for the Meater plus. Glad I did as I’ve cooked a few joints on the bbq and in the oven and it has been superb. Most notably was a joint of beef cooked on the oven which I normally overcook and kill but setting it to medium rare my phone sent me a notification with 5 mins to go. Then it stops the cook several degrees before the idea temp allowing you to take the meat off to rest with the meat continuing to cook to the desired temp. Amazeballs
I bought this Meaterplus thermometer to test against a cheaper non wireless thermometer from Amazon, to test on the Easter Sunday Joint. It was on special offer.
We’ve been getting tired of over cooked expensive joints of meat as the result of a variety of chef recipes. So we decided to use these thermometers to see if the perfect Sunday joint was possible in our home.
We followed the set up instructions for both products. Why is the writing on the paper inserts SO small? We ignored our usual recipes with their timescales, except for the oven temperature, and went for the thermometer recommended internal temperatures as our gauge of ‘done’. Both thermometers were inserted into Turkey and later beef rib joint.
Downloading The Meaterplus app was no problem for iOS or android. It is really easy to use despite all the additional information that comes with the app. It recorded more than just the internal temperature of the meat. It measured the ambient temperature too. This was a revelation as my oven is electric. I was unaware that the oven adjusts its temperature in order to maintain a consistent temperature. This is important as I bake and sometimes the results are not as expected. I knew about the cool spots in my oven and would turn my cakes accordingly but this app actually showed the oven cooling over several periods during the cooking of both the turkey and the beef. Yes, we really did spend an awful lot of time looking at that app I’ve read some reviews where the range of the app was an issue. This did not happen for us. I do agree that there needs to be a design rethink with the black top on the probe. I do not think that will last but I have only just bought it and I do not believe that we will be cooking at temperatures over 250C.
Both thermometers agreed on the internal temperature of the meats, and when the joints were done, the thermometers alarmed in unison. The meats were rested and the results were stress free perfection.
So I would recommend either of these products – choose depending on your budget and your ability to embrace wireless technology used with an app (which my family loved watching for ages!!! )
I’ve tried a number of different meat thermometers in the past but this is next level. Stupidly simple to use with a superb accompanying app and has delivered the very best medium rare steak I’ve ever cooked!
Despite their videos tending to demonstrate larger joints of meat on the BBQ or in the oven, this can be used on the hob to cook a “normal” size steak (normal for UK anyway) and as long as the pan doesn’t go over the maximum ambient temp, it won’t damage it.
I’ve also found it useful for monitor other dishes. For example I used it to monitor the internal temperature of a lasagne I’d made earlier in the day and was heating up. As long as the probe goes in far enough (to the line) it tells you what’s going on and I was able to look up what temp lasagne should ideally be and set up a custom cook to monitor it. It was brilliant.
The Meater cloud function to extend the range of the MEATER + to 50m is really easy to set up and use and is definitely worth the extra 10.
Overall both product and app are absolutely superb and something I will continue to use for a wide variety of meats and dishes
A good friend of mine used this when making steaks for us and used the Meater to make them on his green egg. The minute I took a bite out my steak, I had Amazon open and was ordering within minutes!
As soon as the weekend rolled round, I had my smoker all cleaned up and ready to go. Optimal temp was set, the Meater was all set. I reverse seared a rump steak with several spices and Cajun, and it absolutely rocked!! The Meater was super accurate with timing and after searing and cutting the steak open, I was back in heaven! It’s so easy to setup when following the instructions and even easier to clean when finished. The App needs a minute or two of your concentration but there are plenty of videos to help guide you. This is an absolute must for any BBQ perfectionist!
This is an expensive toy, however if you have a spare pile of cash it is good fun to use and results also good.
Steaks very good, although knowing thickness to grill or roast is still important.
For roast beef and such, it is important to realise how many degrees core temp increases during test periods. The meater doesn’t seem to calculate that quite right and it can be overdone.
Rule of thumb for me presently is apx 10degC per kilo after four attempts.
Cooked a few roast joints with the meater. It’s been great. Only down side was you have to charge it for 4 hours before use (no good if you open Christmas presents an hour before you want to put the turkey in the oven.!!! Yes that happens to us and couldn’t use the meater on Christmas Day )
It’s quite expense, but very worth it. It’s helped cook the meat perfectly every time. Even displays the resting time before carving.
“Absolutely brilliant” “perfect cooking of meat” “Strange when charging that the light is off as it makes it seems like it isn’t charging, it doesn’t flash like most devices when they are charging” – actual feedback comments from o/h.
You need to install an app, booklet provided with step by step instructions.
It comes in a wooden case for storage, the case is also used as a bluetooth receiver. You get updates to your phone and can follow progress of the food cooking. It tells you when to take out the meat, how long to rest it for.
All feedback from o/h, he is a very geeky gadgety guy and he really loves it and is impressed with it (not an easy feat to be fair). It is pricey but if you are into your gadgets and cooking, win win.
Bought as a gift and declared excellent. Accurate information on cooking meat. Saved an expensive cut of beef from being overcooked!
This is the third thermometer I have tried, and it is by far the best one. It is easy to use, no wires to get in the way. You track the progress on your phone or tablet, even tells you when resting time is over. I am not one for so called smart gadgets. So it was a suprise how good and well thought out the App is
This is beyond amazing and far exceeded my expectations. Its so easy, just sits in its little charger base (battery powered) and you remove it and insert into the meat, set the meat you are cooking (has everything from ribeye steak to lamb, chicken and loads more) and it then tells you the internal temperature, target temp and temp in the oven along with how long to go. When its done it even tells you the resting time. Its incredibly accurate so cooks to exactly what you want, be it rare, medium or well done. Blinding bit of kit that will delight any cook, can’t speak highly enough of it.
Bought this to avoid another rather dry Christmas turkey.
Checked on a range of YouTube videos on cooking the perfect turkey, taking note especially of the internal and ambient oven temps for a perfect cook. Popped in the prepared turkey joint with Meater probe inserted in the deepest part. It was cooked to within around 5 degrees of the set temp when alarm sounded to take out the bird. Resting allowed the temp to rise to my desired setting and another reminder that the turkey was ready.
The turkey was perfect. Moist and delicious. Best ever.
Did the same with a roast of beef – again check a number of chefs approaches to decide on perfect internal temps and ambient oven times – don’t just jump to official USDA temps. Invariably they are over cautious and over cook meat.
Once again a perfectly medium cooked roast, which I could never quite attain.
Final attempt was a pork tenderloin. Again a perfect result.
Meater will suggest a range of temps for different cuts of meat and has really informative videos to which you can refer, but I strongly advise doing your own research as to internal temps for your meat to suit your taste.
The design is quality. Connection was fast and cooking times really accurate. Its great to see how long you have before your meat is ready to get the rest of your prep done.
I also checked Meater ambient temp of my oven with a heat thermometer gun and it was accurate to +/- 2 degrees.
Meater Plus is an expensive piece of kit, but its not a fancy kitchen gadget. Its the real deal. Cooks accurately and pairs to a great, app on your phone. Connection range is long. Thoughtful design, with magnets on the wooden base station to connect to your oven door.
Will it pay for itself? Undoubtedly yes. Looking forward to using on the BBq.
Meat cuts are not cheap and to have them perfectly cooked is a good measure of Meater’s value for money.
Take the plunge. You won’t regret it.
Really changes the way I think about cooking meat now. Have used it on many meat types with great success. It is the sort of product you’ll wish you bought sooner. I have even bought as gifts for family.
If you don’t have one yet buy it!
Got this to cook the Christmas turkey on a Kamado Joe with the rotisserie
It worked well and estimated the cooking time which wasn’t far out.
Some of the negative reviews had me concerned but wow I’m so glad I bought this thermometer. Connection was simple & the MEATER app is the best I’ve experienced. The ambient temp was showing higher on the thermometer than the KJ Grill but after 15mins this stabilised nicely. If you’re debating to buy, trust me you’ve made the right choice.
Worked like a charm. We discovered we have been overcooking the turkey in the past. Loved using the Meate
Easy to setup, needs a little practice in positioning to get anywhere near 50m but once you get it it’s perfect. The meat is done exactly as you request albeit sometimes what you think you want needs adjusting. Love it, no more guesswork or dried out meat / poultry.
There is no doubt I am pleased with my purchase! this gives you such accurate readings and I love the fact it has two sensors – internal and external. The internal sensor gives accurate readings from inside the meat and the external gives ambient temperature readings directly around the food you’re cooking. This dual sensor functionality is what sold it to me and I’m glad I bought it.
A few things I would not – the length of the probe is great, but the ‘safety’ line is quite far up, so for smaller or thinner joints like ribs, it does make it harder to use.
Additionally, the app can only be accessed when you have a probe connected – this means removed from the charging block. As a result you can’t set the cook up in advance or browse the different possible cooks ad-hoc. I suspect this is done to stop people without Meater probes from using any functions of the app, but it inadvertently blocks genuine owners from using the app as they see fi
By far the best thing i have brought in a long time this changes the game for cooking steak! I have tried it out several times now on different meats and it’s spot on.
If you are after a temp probe for meat and are worried about the pricedon’t be it’s worth every penny!!
This is the best BBQ Gadget Ever. I mainly use to BBQ Tomahawks and T-Bone’s using the Reverse Seare method and it’s amazing. All you have to do is place the Probe in the Steak and follow the instructions on the app. Perfect result every time. Bit of faffing around sometimes to get your phone connected to the Probe to start with but that’s it. Quality Product. Very Happy.!
Imagine being able to save 20% on your cooking time, wow!
Cooked a whole chicken last night. Packaging said to cook for 1hr20, AEG oven said to cook for 47 minutes, MEATER said to cook for 40 minutes.
Pulled it out after 42 minutes to check and it was perfect and succulent.
Makes sense that suppliers need to be more careful to cover all kinds of ovens and cooking methods, but now I have complete confidence that the meat is not underdone or overdone— and it tastes AMAZING.
Highly recommended.
I had an Inkbird thermometer and it was fantastic, but the Meater+ is a next level game changer. If you have a rotisserie there really is no better product as it’s completely wireless. App is easy to use and very clear, temps are accurate against my Inkbird and Weber thermal pen. I really am struggling to fault!
I bought this to replace a cheap meat thermometer as I found it difficult to get my steak cooked as I wanted. On my first attempt I got the steak just right. The app was easy to set up although it took a few attempts to find how to set it up for the kind of steak I was cooking.
I rarely leave reviews but I must for this product. I use it all the time for roast chickens and they are always perfect but today I tried doing a thick steak with reverse sear using the easy to follow videos and wow, beyond restaurant quality. The device is a little temperamental with connectivity when it’s in the oven and the door is shut, but you have to improvise there will be some kind of position it works perfectly. I just sit my phone and receiver on the oven door handle for example and it always stays connected for me. Will give product 5 stars but could still be improved for above reasons.
I bought this mostly to use on my kamado and have found that it is great for low and slow cooking things such as pulled pork. The app is good and easy to use with lots of different presets for different types and cuts of meat. This tells you what temp to cook to as per meaters recommendation for rare, medium, well done, pulled, etc.
The product in my experience struggles in two areas:
Range, this is nowhere near 50m even in an outdoor environment with a clear line of sight between my phone and the block. A good workaround for this is to use a second device such as an old phone and leave this next to the block and connected to your home wifi. As long as your personal phone/device is on the same wifi and logged into the meater account with the same app you will then be able to monitor your cook anywhere within the house.
Dealing with ‘the stall’, when cooking meat low and slow you will almost inevitably experience ‘the stall’. This is where the temperature of your meat plateaus or even drops while cooking. Meater is absolutely useless at identifying this and goes wild with the cook time predictions somethings reading circa 24hours to go when in actual fact there are only four or so hours to go. I would like to see this address in the future and would probably give a 5 star review if this wasn’t so erratic.

A great product and a great phone app. Easy to set up and monitor.
Used this on a short rib of beef slow cook and was perfect to be able to monitor the cook on my phone and keep track of temperature. Would highly recommend!
I’ve been cooking with the Meater Plus for almost two months now and it has delivered perfect results each and every time. Whether a whole chicken or a thick-cut T-bone steak, the results have been delicious – cooked to perfection. The app is easy to use and has a good range – meaning you can socialise and keep an eye on what’s happening on the braai / BBQ. While somewhat pricey, the benefit is that this has added an additional layer of confidence to my cooking.
We bought a new barbecue and this item works to perfectio
If you want perfect results from your cooking, take the guess work out.
Meater will do the job.
Keith Brooks UK
Should have had one long ago, much easier than the BGE flame boss food probe.
Flawless bone in pork belly over 7 hrs
Brilliant for rotisserie cooks.
The Bluetooth does not work through walls but will close to a window. WiFi may be better. But, you don’t need minute by minute cover just a handy guide.
Great in an indoor kitchen range.
Well worth it.
I don’t know what to say. After years of using standard probe thermometers this thing is a game changer. No need to open the oven, barbecue, or smoker. It’ll tell you what the temperature is inside the cooking device as well as the meat you’re cooking. Well worth the price tag, I’ve got my money’s worth already!
Easy to use and I’ve not gone wrong (no under or overcooked meat.) Used it with turkey, chicken, gammon, beef and pork steaks.
It told me my whole chicken was ready a whole 30mins before the official cook time, checked the bird and it wasn’t wrong, meat cooked, juices clear and no dried out breast.
Not used it on the bbq yet.
Love it.
Used for a number of roasts and grills. At first I didn’t trust it because cooking times seem short but now I do exactly what it says. Been right every time. Would be neater if it didn’t require a Bluetooth ‘bridge’ to cloud, but that hasn’t really been a problem for my cooking. Always been in the house.
Bought as a Christmas gift for my husband. Beyond happy with its performance. He does do my head in showing me what temperature it is at at any given stage on the app, but very happy with purchase.
Ok, this product is an extravagance. It’s very expensive BUT it works. Means I get the food in the oven and can go watch the football in the sitting room, check my smart phone for the cooking progression and when I do then get the meat out of the oven it is cooked to perfection. As I said an extravagance but I would buy one again if I didn’t have one.
I use this pretty much all the time now including in the oven. Very pleased so far, app is simple and intuitive. Setup was a bit fiddly and i do lose connection sometimes well inside of 50m else it would be a 5.
I’d wanted a Meater for a while and when my cheap 4-probe wired thermometer gave up the ghost, I decided to upgrade to a Meater+. Very, very glad I did.
Let me get the “cons” out first.
– Firstly, this a big probe — it will leave a sizeable hole in whatever you are cooking. If it is a beef rib roast or a whole chicken, you’re absolutely fine. Duck breasts or smaller, I’d stick to something more traditional. That said, the Meater is aimed at meats that take longer (i.e., you can walk away while it is cooking) — so this is forgivable.
– Next, water resistant not waterproof. You can clean it in the sink without worrying about ruining it, but if you’re boiling a ham — again, you need to stick to your more traditional probe. This was more of an issue for me, as it is genuinely a useful scenario for the Meater that I cannot use it for.
– Expensive. I got it on a Black Friday sale and I still winced at the price. I got one probe for 3x the price of its 4-probe predecessor! I want another 2 of these now to cover my larger cooks, but I’ll be buying them slowly over time.
However, all these things can be forgiven with the pros that Meater+ brings. Firstly, the app is really nicely designed, super simple to use and set up. Initial setup did require me to “update my probe” which took close to 40 minutes, but once that was done, everything has been smooth sailing since. Select your meat type, the cut and your desired “doneness” and the rest is taken care of.
I love the historical view of your cooks too. The app will save your data, showing you the ambient temperate and the internal temperature over the course of the cook. I can see where I opened the oven/BBQ and when/how long the meat was rested.
Which takes me on to resting! Far and away the nicest feature is that the app predicts the resting temperature for you. It knows how fast the meat is warming up and your desired target temperature, so it will tell you to take the meat out of the oven to rest not AT the target temperature, but before it with a resting guideline, so that you have perfectly rested meat and the carryover heat has brought it to your perfect doneness. Sure, you can do all of that traditionally, but calculating it all properly requires far too much effort. Meater+ gives your meat that extra bit of finesse with ZERO effort on your part.
Battery life and maintenance have all been super straightforward. I’ve done several long cooks, with no battery alerts and it is super easy to clean and put back in its bamboo-style charging station.
In short, I love this little thing and will be purchasing a couple more. They are expensive though, there’s no denying — so I’d recommend for BBQ enthusiasts and home cooks that regularly cook large, expensive pieces of meat.
Wish I had purchased thus a long time ago. I have done rare/medium beef that I was alway wary about doing but armed with the MEATER I felt comfortable doing this and was outstanding. Lamb done to fall off the bone did quite literally fall off the bone after resting time and was so tender and tasty. I have only just started with this but I am so much more comfortable cooking more expensive meat to how I want to cook it.

So far I’m impressed with this. Love the fact its wireless – means I can put this in my joint on the BBQ Rotisserie and NOT have to keep opening it and letting the heat out to check the temp. Same with the oven but at least you can see through the glass on that.
Love the fact it gives you the length of cooking time remaining – this helps juggle when to put other dishes on – eg Potatoes, veg etc. made it painless to co-ordinate Christmas dinner this time. Normally I get suprised if the meat is ready early and having to wait for potatoes to crisp up.
Love you could potentially never overcook something again (or undercook!)
Very easy to use, very easy to understand – if you want your beef Well it tells you. I tried another Temperature pen and it was accurate.

Took the plunge and purchased the MEATER+ as a present for my 50th. So easy to use with amazing results. No issues with Bluetooth connectivity from garden to kitchen but cooking in the kitchen the ‘control box’ has to be next to the oven door. Just wish I’d got the four probe version now.
Easy to use app that you have to wait a while to get an accurate cooking time. The Christmas turkey was moist and wonderful. My only tip is to trust the device as the cooking temp seems early, but it accounts for and shows resting time. It needs to be trusted to work, so follow the prompts to remove and rest the mea
The connection isn’t as good as I expected. In the oven it keeps getting disconnected and I live in a one bedroom apartment so it’s way less than the range.
The app is easy to use and I liked it.
It seems it can handle the heat well.
The heat accuracy is very good – i found my oven isn’t that precise.
How brilliant it works and was easy to setup. You can use it for more than meat. I tried it making a banana cake which is hard to get it evenly cooked. The timer went off some 10 minutes while the Meater told me the core temp had not been reached, yes I could have used a normal temperature probe which would mean losing heat in the oven. Marks out of 100% =
Best meat thermometer/probe I have ever owned. Smack on every time and got great range of preset options so makes it so easy to use. Used it from 1/2 hour cooks to 19 hour cooks and works all the way through every time. Love using it. Only down on it is the range from it when you have in bbq outside and you go inside, the range is a bit frustrating.
I love it when things are well thought out and do their job well. I’ve tried other meat probes but the eater is superb and the phone app works perfectly, even keeping track of past cooking sessions.
I used it last night to hot smoke a turkey fillet.
Amazing product, shame there is no charging indicator but ones it’s had it’s time it is a brilliant bit of kit! Takes all the hard work out of cooking. So clear and simple! I love it, so pleased I bought it. Don’t forget to pull out the tab to get the battery going. Was a bit unclear to me but the battery charges the probe. Your iOS device only sees the probe when you remove it from the block.
This is admittedly expensive but it’s got fantastic form and function.
It’s beautifully designed and incredibly easy to use.
I’ve been getting really fed up with over cooked meat because I was worried about undercooking my meat and poisoning myself. This completely eliminates that possibility.
The app that it uses tells what the American food Authority (can’t remember the letters) suggest are safe meat internal temperatures.
It gives Celsius or Fahrenheit
It’s like apple made a meat thermometer. Thats as high a compliment as I go.
I absolutely love it.
I got tired of messing the steak up, particularly when we had a lot of guests. MEATER has made a massive difference, every steak and meat cut now comes off perfectly every time. Great buy, best BBQ accessory I have!
My son bought a Meater+ first and it took him a little while to convince me to buy one. What a revelation, so easy to use and has given me perfect results every time. It’s important to read the instructions to make sure insertion is correct.
So what did I think of my Meater+? I bought a second one.
It took me a bit to get my app connected to the meater probe but once on fine love the app tells you everything did he best fillet steak I’ve had for ages done medium to well done great produc
Make sure the probe is in the centre of the meat and you will get a perfectly cooked meal every time.
Keep an eye on the time though as it can jump a bit at the beginning until it has truly calculated the time and you must allow for the resting time at the end of the cook.
Have used for a couple of months now and absolutely revolutionised Sunday roasts and bbqs. Very very happy
Based on one cook so far, I’m loving my Meater+. I was looking for a wireless temperature probe that I could use in the oven and bought this on a bit of a whim.
I did a topside of beef roast, just followed the instructions on the app and it came out perfectly medium rare and was delicious. I would have cremated it if I’d followed the instructions on the packet so that’s a tenner saved already!
The app is really good, I love that it estimates the cooking (and resting!) time, takes all the guesswork out of the equation.
You can also see how accurate your oven is due to the dual sensors. My oven appears to be about 10c out when set to 180c. Interesting.
My only gripe is that a fair bit of the probe has to be inserted into the food so it’s not good for smaller items which is a bit of a shame.
It’s expensive! It works just fine except the range isn’t as advertised. Stated up to 50mtrs but I don’t even get 10. In my instance that’s just fine. Great and easy to use product, awesome app.
Just wish range wasn’t so glitchy
Perfect cooking results every time and super easy to clean and maintain.
Best way to increase range in my view was to connect a local device to the probe such as an I pad or a phone that stops at home, then you can go anyway you wish, and your phone will connect anywhere in the world via the cloud. Good stuff
If you want your meat cooked to perfection, you need this tool.
And as a gadget lover, it takes cooking to the next level.
I have temperature probes… but they don’t measure ambient heat and take that into account, they don’t predict cooking time and they’re fiddly.
Cooked a beef wellington last night with this.. it was perfect, just like everything else I’ve cooked using it. I bought one for my parents who just think it is amazing (they’re in their 70’s)!
Really enjoyed cooking with this, did the job well and the rotisserie ham tasted awesome.
Bought this for a Christmas present so opened it Christmas morning hoping to use it for the turkey but had to charge it up first, was a little tricky to set up but managed in the end, all in all it worked fine and look forward to using it in the future stylish and mode
I rarely write reviews but I am so impressed by this product I need to share.
I tested this out on a beef joint and was really impressed with the results and I kept checking the meater app every 5 minutes in anticipation. I was sure the joint was underdone but it was absolutely perfect. The fact that the app tells you how long to rest is so neat. This is all done by measuring the meats internal temp, the outside temp and the target temp to work out the time required to “meat” (see the pun!) the right cook.
I then tried this on a roast chicken and the results were so good. I normally brine my roast for the moistness but i made a chicken without brining and the meater saved 15 minutes from what the chicken instructions said and it was fully cooked and super succulent.
During xmas, my brother cooked a lamb leg and we forgot about the meater. We realised 10 minutes fomr the time we though the leg of lamb would be medium but on inserting the probe. We were informed to take it out as it was already well done! we should have used it from the start!!
Finally, I tried a pan-cooked steak on a cast iron pan. Normally, i do 2-3 minutes each side and depending on the thickness, it comes out well done (if thin) or rare (if thick). The steak in the picture above took 12 minutes in total and it was perfectly medium. I would have taken it off to early and not let it rest. The steak was perfection. Pink inside an
People would bark at the price but to save hassle of checking every so often this takes pressure out of cooking (and getting other dinner time bits and pieces ready). If it’s on black Friday, it will be a xmas present for sure.

If you care about the meat you eat you really need this. Takes the guessing out of timing without opening the oven door.
I’ve only had my Meater+ a few days and already cooked several steaks, a brisket and some duck breasts. Not only were the results spot on perfect, but it takes away all the stress and uncertainty, making cooking more enjoyable.
Stupidly easy to set up and use. I wish I’d have bought one ages ago.
Used this in my BBq hut, works well. Range managed to get to the house but did disconnect if I went any further than the picture shown..but this was fine. Cooks meat well seems to be accurate so all round very pleased with this product…feels good quality and worth the high price tag.
Does exactly what it is meant to do – help you cook meat to perfection! Simple easy to use (although if the meat is resting in a microwave – to stop the dog eating it – you need to put the receiver inside too as the microwave shields it)
Works better than the original model. Wish they’d colour coded it so I can tell the difference between the two variants.
perfect for the bbq, can’t really fault anything, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Will be ideal for my kettle rotisserie, the resting time indicator is spot on. Used it on a brisket and had the perfect result.
Excellent, thought it was a bit pricey for a thermometer, but the app and everything is fab
Very good idea, worked well so far but only used 4 times.
Works on rotisserie which is what it was purchased for.
Signal distance could be better.
Very expensive
I have purchased a rotisserie and with a normal probe it’s not possible to monitor the internal temperature due to the cable getting wrapped around the rotisserie.
With this you just fit the probe inside the protein of choice and push it in to the line marked on the probe.
The app is very simple to install and have on your phone.
You simply choose what you are cooking and the way you like to eat it (rare, medium well for example) and it will tell you the temperature you should cook to, when to remove for resting and a little alarm to tell you it’s 5 minutes before you should pull the protein off, it will also estimate the cook time with the temperature of the grill and I assume how fast the internal temperature is currently moving. It also gives you a graph of how things are going on internal temperature of the protein and the temperature of the grill.
It saves previous cooks so you can go back and see how they went. It could assist in helping try to improve and see what went right or wrong.
Setting the meater+ up with amazon Alexa is very simple. I just added meater as a skill via the Alexa app. It’s not essential to have but it puts a smile on my face and let’s be honest it’s a cool trick to impress the guests. Most of my friends if they bbq food it’s to how burnt you like it. With this brilliant little probe you really cool to how the food should be.
It’s very easy to clean afterwards. Then put back in to its wooden charging dock that also seconds as a Bluetooth extender.
Overall I’m super happy with this product and would definitely recommend if you can afford the product go for it you won’t regret it.

This product is amazing, we have only used it three times, Pork, Lamb & Chicken and on each occasion the meat has been perfect. We always used thermometers in our cooking but rearly produced such quality results as this product does. I am not one for leaving feed back as you expect that when you purchase something it should do as it states on the packet however this product has really WOWED me.
This is a great product, though I have only used it on the BBQ so far. The repeater is a great feature, I can leave the charging block near the BBQ then walk down the other end of the house and still have signal.
Really easy to use and im not a great cook. Managed to BBQ a fair bit, including whole chickens, and it came out perfectly cooked. Yes it’s expensive, and probably a waste of money for seasoned chefs or cooks, however for myself this ticks all the boxes!
I would not hesitate to buy again!
Really simple to set up with my android phone and ipad.
Connect to the cloud by leaving one smart device within range of the base station and you can then keep a watch on the cook from pretty much anywhere. From web page or phone app or even ask Alexa how things are going.
Set temperature alarms for the grill range as well as the meat internal temperature. Works really well.
Wow! I selected a leg of lamb for my first cook and it was easy to set up. The YouTube on the website explained how to insert the gadget in the thickest part of the meat and how important it is to thrust it in far enough to register accurately. It’s possible to adjust the temperature required by a few degrees either side of the pre-set which is advantageous once you determine exactly how you like your meat cooked.
I cook on an Everhot range which is similar (but I think better than) an AGA. You can set the oven temperature but you don’t keep changing the setting as with a conventional oven.
We were mesmerised by the display showing both the inside oven temperature adjusting to the introduction of the cold meat and the rising internal temperature of the joint as it cooked. Once the MEATER+ worked out how long it would take to complete the cooking phase, we were able to tear ourselves away and get on with the rest of the dinner.
I had never before appreciated how important it is to rest the meat after cooking is complete. The display showed how the internal temperature continued to rise after I took the joint out of the oven. Fascinating. The MEATER+ alerted me to the end of the resting time and we could eat!
I started with good meat but this temperature-controlled cooking ensured we ate absolutely amazing, perfectly cooked lamb. I was so pleased with myself, though the MEATER+ did all the work for me.
Next, I tried it with sirloin steak. Slipping the MEATER+ in sideways wasn’t as tricky as I had anticipated. Again, perfect cooking. This is really successful, confident cooking and although it’s not cheap to buy, the MEATER+ will make certain I never overcook, undercook or otherwise waste good food by poor cooking. It will pay for itself in practical terms over time but has already proved worth its cost in guaranteeing success every time.

And it gives quickly confidence to set ones own temperature targets.
It is quite curious to see when cooked and resting the meat temperature continues to rise by about 4 degrees Celsius, so for even better results one quickly learns to factor this in.
So why 4 stars. I have a Rayburn (similar to an Aga) which has a fully iron door. When closed that severely limits the range and positioning of the phone receiver outside the oven. By trial and error I found where the phone needed to be.
Also when out of the oven, the range is attenuated by the thickness of walls etc.
However my circumstance I recognise is a severe test of the device. A windowless oven and 2 foot stone walls are not the norm for most kitchens.
As an oven meat thermometer it is absolutely superb, and takes away one anxiety when looking for that exact medium rare you might be looking for.

I’ve used it on Chicken, leg of lamb and rib of beef and it’s given me safe cooking with my desired finish to the meat (definitely medium rare rib!). I love and am looking forward to the turkey on the BGE, Christmas cooking just got easier!
I have an iPhone and the app is super wasy to download and use and understand.
Cooking and using it is really simple. Select the meat and the type and then wait until it tell you it’s cooked. The app will also give you a rough time to be finished. What i love the most is the Cloud setting. This allows you to set up the probe on one device and then go out and about and be able to view your cook on a seperate device to keep an eye on. Great for those long cooks and if you want to pop to the shop or pub to help pass the time.
Really good all round look with regular updates on the app to improve your cook all the time.
Wow ! What an amazing product . Now cooking is so easy ! Very straightforward to set up especially with myself being such a technophobe . For the person who loves cooking and best of all for the person who struggles with timings this product is a mus
This time I opted for the MEATER + for the extra range. Although I use the cloud feature from my iPad if I need to go out to the shops or pub, the MEATER + allows me to reach the whole house, garden and garage without the iPad!
MEATERs really are a game changer. Once you get to grips with how you like the cook and the resting times for your favourite meats, you just insert, press go and the app lets you know when it is done! Perfect every time! And the + adds even more range!!
The app is so simple that I’m going to get my dad one for Xmas too!
