This is my 3rd Mira sport. Bought because it’s realiable. 6 people showering daily and on average only had to replace once every 10 years

I replaced a 15 year old Triton Belize with this Mira Sport. I didn ‘t realise that Mira have the water inlet on the opposite side (left) to Triton so had to re-do the pipe route. It must all line up perfectly! Once I had done that and used PFE tape around the olives and threads to stop leaks it all worked as specified. Great shower and wife happy with the Air Boost feature which works on all settings. Now to see if this one will last 15 years. If so it should outlive us both.

Bought this one to replace old one which was the same so only took ten minutes to install, love the extra power when you need it, although not needed during summer months

I ordered this shower to replace the old Mira Sport which has lasted 13 years. It was easy to replace , only one fitting screw was different and that was the bottom one which needed a new hole. I was pleased with the old one but this one is even better. Excellent water pressure and controllable temperature. Very efficient, I’m delighted with it. I hope it lasts as long as the old one.

With the flow valve on our 2013 9.8 KW Sport Max starting to leak due to a split in the case, I decided to replace the whole thing rather than repair it due to its age. Had intended to get like for like, however I noticed the supposedly more expensive Airboost model was listing on Amazon 30 cheaper, albeit in 9.0 KW (20 saving over the standard 9.0 KW model), so I thought why not.

When it arrived I was pleased to see it was a direct swap, as the case fixing holes were in the same place, along with the electrical and water feed connection points.

Found an error in the instructions, as it indicated you needed to connect and test the water connection first, however on doing this water poured out the hose outlet. Found I needed to fully assemble it and turn the electrics on first before turning the water on.

Noticed while setting up this shower it runs far hotter than my 2013 model, maybe because its new; the old one needed to be on high to get to a decent temperature, whereas the new one gets there in eco mode. However the water flow with this airboost is noticeable weaker, possible to do with the required diffusers for the airboost function in both ends of the shower hose causing a slight restriction. The airboost function itself seems a bit of a gimmick too and a little noisy and not worth paying more for over the standard model in my view.

Therefore I’ve given the airboost 4 stars, as apart from the slightly hotter water temperature, overall its not as good as the standard model IMHO, so I’m glad in our case we paid less for it.

Amazing shower!! A professional trader recommended this to me as he has it himself and I have no regrets in following his advice! It is so much more powerful than my last shower and has sorted out my water temperature issue. Would highly recommend!!

I had a Triton 8.5 watt thing previously, which was my emergency shower for when the boiler broke. That was awful, like being sprinkled with tepid urine, and so in contrast this was marvelous. I’ve since had the boiler fixed, and so have the shower from the combi working properly, at full pelt, but I still quite like this one. Okay, so in comparrison to anything that’s heated through the boiler or a tank, this doesn’t really compare, however I’m still using this Mira one more regularly than my boiler powered shower because it’s still quite nice.

I will say that the air boost is nothing more than a power shower placeabo – makes you think for a second you’re getting a little extra pressure, but once you turn it off you realise that all it does is interupt the pressure. It’s better without the airburst. I put it on occasionally, as for a few seconds it gives you the impression of a more powerful shower experience, which appears to be noise induced for the most part.

    The shower head is good!

I replaced an existing Mira that was beyond repair (it never broke case cracked over time). The new shower fitted the existing water and power feed (Mira is very good on this) had to drill three new holes but covered by shower. The new shower is very elegant and works extremely well, bought the 10.8 KW model and the water output is much better than the previous 9 KW Sport. The air pump really helps with rinsing long hair as my wife & daughter will testify. A word of warning to make it work properly it must have the air pipe alignment part fitted on the shower end. When I installed I could not find it but as a checked the box the next day to register and save the instructions I found the part. I simple unscrewed the hose pushed the inner air line down and pushed the airline into the alignment part and screwed back in carefully to ensure a good seal and it worked brilliantly. My daughter has it on all the time as it increasing the flow and makes it a big hotter and the agitation works really well to rinse the shampoo and soap over much quicker. The shower head supplied is miles better than previous versions. Highly recommend this shower.

We replaced a 20 year old Mira Sport shower with this updated model which performs extremely well when compared with our old one. Easy to fit with only one additional fixing hole to drill. Water and electrical connections have not changed over the years. Upgrade your old one or install as new. You will not be disappointed!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt feels so much warmer than my old 7.5kw shower as turning up the temperature doesn’t completely kill the flow! Fitting is straightforward if a previous shower pipework is in the same locations too.

I’m not convinced by the Airboost feature as it’s quite noisy so tend to keep it off. Otherwise it was a good upgrade for my old Mira shower.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe shower works fine. The temperature control is not as fine as I had expected but once set seems to hold the temperature well. Of note is the fact that this is a higher rated current device than a 7.6W shower so you may need to upgrade the electricity feed to the shower unit. Also, the same duration of shower will cost you more with this unit than a lower wattage (obvious if you think about it).
Other than that, it was relatively easy to install as a replacement for my previous (Mira) shower unit and I would certainly recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe bought this shower because our Triton failed (would only deliver scalding hot or freezing cold water) and we’d had a Mira in one of our previous homes. It was easy to install – I called a plumber who did it for us for 30 – bargain! Good shower but I wish we’d gone for the more powerful version; however we couldn’t do that because the existing wiring wouldn’t support it. It does the job though and is good value for money.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs expected, very good quality and easy to install. Just needed to add a compression elbow joint and a small length of 15mm copper pipe to connect to the existing pipework that had a Triton shower with push fit connector. Fitted over the same area as the old Triton so previous holes drilled through the tiles were completely covered. Gives ample hot water and the air boost system definitely works giving much more of a power shower feel. You need to change the riser rail and use the hose and shower head supplied as they have the air hose running internally to provide the boost function. Mira have thought of everything as the riser rail wall connections can easily be adjusted to fit into the existing holes drilled for the previous rail. A competent DIY’r should be able to fit in half an hour.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe decided to buy the same newer model of shower as we had bought in 2005. This one has a better looking shower head. Just hoping that this one will last as long as the previous one. We were looking forward to trying the boost function button which is a new addition to our old shower unit. I think its a bit of a gimmick and don’t bother using it for the majority of time, its very noisy as well. A negative for the new shower is that the hose seems shorter than the other hose we had. I am happy with the shower in general though

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis shower is the best electric shower I have ever had, actually I have been so impressed with it I have just replaced it with the identical model. Why change something when it’s perfect. It is quiet, really important when you have a small bungalow and work early shifts. It has a max boost which feels like a hot jet of water on tired bones. Go for the ’10 W’ it’s worth the extra power. Yes it’s expensive but my last one lasted 8 yrs until the thermostat went so thought I would replace due to safety because of age but the hose, head and arm still look as new so saved those until they need swapping over. Worth every penny. When it comes to a shower you definitely get what you pay for.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI really love this shower, I’ve always used Triton, won’t go back to them now. This shower has a lower operating pressure level compared to the Triton, and that is a big deal for me as I live in an area where there is low water pressure and the air boost tech it has, wow. Tops marks from me. The LED lights look cool in the dark as well.

    I Love this showe

it is a good little electric shower. Plumbed to the mains so no restriction on how long you can shower for. 3 settings but eco works well. The boost just pushes air through so makes it splutter but not really increasing flow. Flow is fairly low but that suits me. Nice large head and good riser. I dont like the soap tray and you cant take it off unfortunately. Otherwise it is very stylish

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis was easy to install as I was taking out a Mira (over 10 years old) but the wiring and pipe work were in the same places. This unit did have one fixing screw in a different place from the old one but had a slightly bigger case so the old unused hole was covered
The one small thing I am disappointed about is this updated version detects water pressure and won’t start unless is detects that pressure, which is a safety feature but we used to run our shower from a pump and tank which meant however many other taps or toilet flushes took place the shower was unaffected. Unfortunately we are now back on direct feed which means these things do all affect the shower. There is an air feature that is meant to make it feel like there is more water being delivered but I feel it just makes it more noisy and didn’t notice the difference. This can be switched on or off so we just don’t use this feature

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this secondhand, but unused and in the box, so I certainly cant argue with the price I paid. Was very easy to install and fit. All the functions work as stipulated in the manual, and although not the most powerful of showers, it certainly gives a nice shower and does it’s job. It also looks very nice once fitted, looking expensive. Once you have set your temperature, it keeps at that said setting, so not had any shocks with the odd annoying hot or cold spurts during my shower like my past showers have given us. Would certainly recommend this product.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’m a Sparky so fitting showers is part of my job…. However Mira are in my opinion the best you can buy. The Sport Max is easy to fit and is a direct retro fit for a previously fitted Mira Sport. If your retro fitting all you need to do is drill one hole. The other two line up. The riser rail will cover any previous holes no matter what make of shower. Mira warranty is excellent, don’t forget to register it. One tip. Don’t forget to connect the ribbon cable to the front cover. Great product, bought on a limited deal for 169.00 so even better.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat shower, a big improvement from our old model. The airboost function is loud but does make it feel like you have better water pressure so is useful overall. The temperate is regulated pretty well, you can tell when someone suddenly turns a tap on elsewhere as the temperature will rise but the shower responds and regulates the power accordingly (after a short delay). This, plus the adjustable power levels, makes it a pleasure to use. Would recommend

I would recommend a professional to install it though as the services come in from the opposite side to the triton showers so I had to move pipes and electrical connections which took me quite some time but it was well worth it in the end.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent product. Have used Mira showers for decades.
This recent but was too replace a previous Mira shower which wad fitted in 2000 … so the last one lasted 19 years!!!
    Easy format to use.
Pull cord switch to turn on electric.
Check heat dial is where you still want it.
Then just press the chosen flow button.
I really like the simple heat dial which is so easy to use.
What I also really like is that I don’t need my glasses to see how to operate it!!! There is just a sizeable on flow button, a heat dial and finally an off flow button. Easy peasy.
My husband was able to fit it in under half an hour, which included taking the old one out, if you use a reputable electrician it shouldn’t really take them any longer!!! … unless of course, there is new pipework or electrics to adjust or install, but even then it’s all standard stuff, so an hour max, I would say.
Our order came promptly as promised. Excellent buyer/seller transaction.

Our old Mira Sport lasted for fourteen years and gave outstanding service to our family of five. My three boys are all involved in sport, and our shower was often overworked at times. Delighted with the new Mira Sport Max . I find the water flow a lot better than the Triton Shower I had previously.

Bad Points. The airboost is useless and completely pointless, its just a gimic they use to sell more and its noisy so takes the relaxation side away from the shower. Would have liked a strong jet nozzle on the shower head instead of the rain storm one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEasy to install and an excellent shower for the money. It was a replacement for my old Mira shower which was over 10 years old, so if it last as long I will be very happy.
One great extra feature is that it has an air pump fitted integrally to give you an extra power boost that gives the feeling of a power shower. Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHaving had 2 Mira Sport 10.8kW showers previously, I was happy with the performance and quality of the brand. This particular model is better than the ones I had before. The controls are very easy to understand; it has an ‘Eco’ setting which is quite adequate in warmer weather, and the usual ‘low’ and ‘high’ settings. Where it scores extra points is for the additional ‘air boost’ facility, a separate button which intensifies the force of the shower.
I have given it 5 stars for ease of installation, although we had a plumber to do the job. He had no problems, and finished the work quite quickly. What seemed good to me was that the position of the fixings for the new shower were the same as the old one.
I would definitely recommend this shower.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI am not sure what to think about this shower. I had a mira azul before – fantastic shower initially but went downhill and after 5 years the thermostat had gone. I was reluctant to try another mira but thought it might be easier for plumber to install the same make so I went for this one. It’s great to have a shower back but the azul was far better initially. There’s also been times when the temperature is too hot/cold and it can be difficult to get the setting right. Small movements on the dial seem to make a big difference on temperature. For the price, if expect better temperature control. However; generally nice shower – the airport feature is lovely and do happy to have a shower back. I just wont be happy if the quality doesnt last like with the azul. I have had this shower a couple of months so far.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe shower we had was awful; so bad, we thought we had a problem with our water pressure.

So, in comparison, this shower is the best electric shower you can get without investing in a power shower.

Good, strong flow. Plus, if you want to (I don’t feel it is necessary, but my boys swear by it) you have the added air boost – this seems to work best on the traditional shower head setting as opposed to the other choices.

    Simple to operate.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersI bought this to replace a Mira Sport shower that finally gave up the ghost after 18 years’ service. The electrician that fitted it only had to drill one additional hole in the wall and the water pipe and wires all matched up with no bother at all. For me that makes the extra money well-worthwhile as any aggravation when retro-fitting anything is MOST unwelcome!!! The shower works great and is more powerful than the old Mira Sport it replaced. 10.8 kW is a must if you have enough water pressure.

  67. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this as a direct replacement for an older model Mira Sport Max – I wanted all the pipework and electrics to be lined up as much as possible, which is why I looked for another Sport Max. With this newer model only 1 additional hole was needed – everything else lined up and it was essentially a straight swap.

The older model I was replacing had adequate flow. Everything else in the new setup remains the same – all except the shower. And now, the flow really is poor – a shower in the morning no longer feels refreshing; it’s underwhelming to say the least. The “Air Boost” makes little – if any – difference. The flow seems low enough that the Air Boost actually makes things worse.

I’ve used a fairly basic method to test flow rate – a 1l measuring jug fills up in 13s, which means the flow rate is around 4.6 litres per minute. Apparently (according to Mira) this is fine – maybe a little lower than average, but not a problem as such (average is around 5l per minute, they tell me).

It it looks like I’ll need to get a shower pump on top of what was already a nearly 300 shower (at time of purchase), plus the additional cost of getting a plumber round (again) to install said pump. It’s a shame that there is such a difference between the older model and this new model – “newer” normally means an improvement, but sadly not in this case if my experience is anything to go by.

    *UPDATE:
I was wrong – I had misunderstood how a cold mains pressure shower works, and I’d like to correct my review (and add a further 2 stars). My mistake was that in the time between our old shower failing and my having this new shower installed, winter is upon us and the temperature has dropped markedly. So, while I was using our old shower into the beginning of September, the incoming water was probably a couple of degrees warmer than now so the old shower didn’t have to work as hard to get the temperature up. Back then I was still using “Medium” setting (which I assume is the same as the “Eco” setting on this new model) and I was annoyed that the flow rate on this new shower seemed much lower than an equivalent setting on this new model.

I honestly thought “High” setting just meant “hotter” – I didn’t appreciate it had anything to do with flow rate. However I gave it a go on “High” but with temperature turned down low and the pressure was indeed similar to the old model (bearing in mind I was using the old model in summer on “Medium”).

Review thus updated to point out my mistake, in the hope that someone may benefit. The flow rate depends on a few things, including incoming water temp (and how much work the shower has to do in order to bring it up to a suitable temp): if it’s winter, then switch to “High” setting.

4 out of 5 because the Air Boost thing still doesn’t make much difference (other than being quite noisy), but it turns out the shower is pretty good despite my initial review (and it turns out I’m just a bit of a Muppet).

Really good shower. Best on the market in my opinion. Easy to install and is a recommended upgrade for any house. The air boost makes all the difference, when it comes to a quick morning shower.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWe researched loads of different electric showers and just by chance stayed in a hotel with a Mira Sport installed, search over and purchased online. The shower is now fitted which the plumber tells me was very easy and we are delighted. It is smart in appearance and functionally it has the Air Boost which is a nice add on, but the High setting is sufficient for our daily needs, two other settings are ECO and Low, even on Low the flow is good. Its not a power shower, but it is a decent shower and we have no regrets with our purchase.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersHave had this shower a year now and am so delighted with it. I used to have an old Mira which had such poor flow but this is amazing. The treat of having the extra air boost is lovely.

Temperature control is easy and it has been lovely this hot summer to jump in on normal temperature and just hit the eco button for a blast of cold water. I love the fact that you have four settings on the shower head so dependent on your mood you can have the usual flow or you can get a concentrated flow but then add the air boost to these and it makes it even better. I am on metered water so I dont feel guilty using the boost as I know it is not using any extra water.

I would definitely recommend this shower.

Brilliant shower. Looks good on the wall unlike most electric showers. Really really pleased with it. The air feature adds a little noise but is very effective. Going to replace our other shower with one as soon as possible.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersReplaced my Mira Sport with this new Mira Sport with Airboost. The water flow is better under normal use then when you switch the airboost on it is great. Best electric shower I’ve ever used. Only downside and why I only gave 4 stars is when the airboost is on it’s quite noisy but I’ll happily put up with the noise in order to have the power.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe needed to replace a shower that suddenly failed. I researched the replacement show, reading carefully to ensure the power rating and plumbing parts were compatible with the pre-existing services. The shower is 100% better that hoped for, multiple shower head settings and power choice options of eco, low and high controls-plus an ‘air boost’ that gives an improved shower experience.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent shower and delivery. Have had it quite a few months now and works perfectly. I did take out the very cheap extra insurance cover but luckily have had no need to use it. Very neat looking. The pulse doesn’t really make any difference but overall delighted with shower.

Golden Review Award: 37 From Our UsersGreat shower. Easy to install if you READ the instructions and follow each step…as opposed to how I did it. I’m a Marine Engineer and assumed I knew it all. Arrogance is time consuming 😀
Had to renew the wire which fed an 8Kw Triton before with a 10mm cable and the pull switch.

To replace an old electric show you cant get better than this one. It will always be an electric shower. You’re not gona get near the throughput of a mixer but this is the next best thing.

Shower head is well made and provides a brilliant coverage setting which helps forget its not a mixer.

Airboost is a bit of a gimmick. Dont really notice much difference but my son thinks it makes all the difference 🙂

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersVery aesthetically pleasing design, the air feature is a little louder but not by much.

Word of caution, wall clamps a weak and can crack, even after perfect installation. Ours developed cracks about 3 months after installation.

    Really nice powerful clea

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersMy old Mira sport gave way after a long life so i replaced it with a sport max 10.8 kw its even better than the old one and i only had to drill one hole at the bottom the rest of the holes lined up and wireing was a breeze. The air boost does make a differance all be it a small one but great for a rince after shampooing your hair it is a bit noisy but not over the top. It arrived very quickly and instructions that came with the unit are clear. Well recomended

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDecent shower. Just be aware that this is the most powerful model, so it is likely you will need to run a new cable from your switch board to the location of the shower (as I did). Definitely worth doing as this is more powerful than any other electric shower I have used.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersLove it.. saw the shower on here nearly 30 cheaper than anywhere else and I had an engineer from Mira coming out to fix my shower..
So for the price that it was going to cost me to get my old shower fixed.. I bought a brand new one and got a 2 year warranty and I fitted the shower myself..

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis was recommended by our plumber after our previous shower (not Mira) went wrong after only two years. We have been using it for about two months and it has proved excellent with a very good flow of water at the right temperature. It seems well made and I would certainly recommend it to anyone seeking an electric shower of this power. However, be aware it is 10.8kW and needs appropriate cabling.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersVery pleased with this shower having bought it to replace my previous Mira Sport which I had for 16 years and many thousands of showers. It was simple to replace as the holes all matched up with the existing set up. Putting the rail up took longer than switching the showers. The airboost does make a difference although it will never be as good as a power shower.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersWe had the predecessor, 10.8kW unit and apart from one of the three screw fixing positions which required a new hole, it is easy to fit. The air boost feature is good and the flow and temperature is still adequate.

I can understand some of the negative comments on the manufacturer, as our previous unit developed a fault and required repairing but we found that they fixed the issue and we got about 8 years of constant heavy use from it, until the pump unit leaked. Rather than repair it we decided it was better long term to replace the whole assembly.

This shower taps off directly from the towns main supply and this gives us 2 independent shower units at home, so if we have a problem with the hot water supply or the header tank we have a complete backup. Hindsight is always a powerful tool. We would definitely recommend this to anyone.
