I ultimately returned this, but not because of a quality issue. It is beautiful and does exactly what it is supposed to do. I was going to use it for a work computer while I was recuperating from surgery. Unfortunately, it creates some serious weight for the top of a laptop, and it just wasn’t quite meeting my needs.

I originally bought the regular Duex back when the pandemic first started because I couldn’t function at work without two monitors. I decided to buy another for my personal computer and love the plus especially the origami style stand. I love how portable they are. The quality of the screen is amazing and it allows me to work seamlessly. I can’t imagine working, gaming or just generally using my computer without having the additional screen. It is so easy to pack for traveling and stays put. I highly recommend.

When the pandemic first started and I had to work from home I purchased two 24″ monitors as I was used to having 3 screens in the office. I’ve since moved in to a much smaller apartment where I don’t have room for a whole desk set-up.. I only work from home occasionally now and I’m in grad school so having the extra screen to work and do school work from the kitchen table or the couch without having to lug the huge monitors around is so nice! If I only need one screen it fits flush against the back of my laptop without being in the way and is beyond simple to slide out and use when needed. This is the best invention ever!

The fact that this screen stores on the laptop, comes completely out of its cover, and several can be linked together, made him a very happy man. The picture quality made it even better!

Even at 100% brightness, the contract between my laptop monitor and the Duex Plus is noticeably different. I thought that I was trading weight for picture quality. You can accept the extra ounces if it means a brighter, more crisp monitor.

On the plus side, this was fairly easy to install. But I feel like the instructions were not written that well. Maybe I’m just as bright as this monitor, but the instructions seemed clear about mounting this onto the middle of the back of my laptop screen. I did just that, and when fully extended there is still a small portion of the Duex screen that is blocked behind my monitor. I’m going to have to pop the magnets off (hoping it doesn’t damage the back of my laptop) and reposition them closer to the edge of the side I use my monitor on. The easy part of the installation was that this product was just about ready to go out of the box. I didn’t have to download any software. I just attached it and plugged it into my PC. A few moments later, I had a second (albeit dimly lit) screen. It started off as a mirror of my existing screen, but a quick fix in the display settings took care of that. The other issue was the exit point for the cursor on my laptop screen would be at the top but would cross over and come out on the bottom of my Duex screen. Simply moving the position of the Duex in the Monitor Display Settings was able to get it almost perfectly lined up.

My laptop is a 15″ screen and perhaps that was part of the issue when it came to attaching it. But I clearly read here that it could be used with even bigger laptops. The jury is still out on whether I would recommend this to anyone. I’m barely one day into use. For now, I give it a very generous 4 stars. That could change in either direction, though.

Screen works great, no problem installing it or using it but the magnets do not stay and it was sliding and falling off. I knew I was keeping it and I use it for work on a daily basis so I permanently stuck the magnets to my laptop. Has made all the difference. No more slippage or falling off. Only negative is that now its never coming off. I don’t anticipate wanting to take it off but it adds to the weight and if I ever want to travel with my laptop I’m going to feel it.

I love the product, it really does maximize your efficiency especially if you are on a zoom meeting at the same time as needing to use your computer. The 3-way screen option seemed to take up too much space and it was much too pricey. The one problem I had immediately was that two of the magnets attached perfectly to my computer and the other two were poorly placed so I had to take them off. The glue is so strong that removing the magnets took great effort. Then the two sided sticky gel disks on the magnets were ruined and one of the rubber oval protectors for the magnets came off as well. After realizing that duex had no replacement parts, I had to order two-sided sticky .75in gel dots for $7+ from Amazon. They worked perfectly and now I have a life-time supply of gel stickies. So, since the magnet attachment can cause problems, be VERY careful to install it correctly or you will have a nuisance problem with attaching the screen.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersSo, I decided to ignore the very few bad reviews about this portable monitor, and give it a go. I didn’t know there were portable monitors for laptops before this, so I was super skeptical about it. I looked practically everywhere on Amazon for like an hour or so, I found this one. And I think I bought it at a sale that they gave me like a 33% discount, so I went for it.

So, the package day arrived, and, OH MAN, this thing is AMAZING.

I’ve been using it for two weeks now, and everything works like a charm for me EVERY TIME. This is the perfect solution for laptop owners that are looking for something extra. My laptop monitor is 15″, and with this 13.3″ monitor, it really looks like it came with it, LOL! The best thing about it? You can detach it and use it with your Nintendo Switch, and, OH BOY, it’s freaking great for it.

Ah, and the monitor is extremely lightweight, you barely feel it in your hands when you detach it. However, expect your laptop to feel like it gained some extra weight, though.

For those that were struggling to keep their laptop monitor steady, you need to put the laptop on a surface flat enough so your laptop can have some balance. Also, be careful sliding out the monitor. Don’t be too rough or it will definitely break its hinges. And if you’re struggling to keep the Deux stuck on the back of your monitor, here’s my tip: use 8 of those 3M stickers instead of 4. Use 2 stickers on each side for a better grip, and that’s it. You won’t have any trouble now.

My only complaint is the weird as heck kickstand it comes with. It’s some kind of origami stand that’s a pain in the ass to use, and sometimes I’m scared it will fall off with the monitor. Just be sure to use it on a super flat surface, and on a low height to prevent your monitor to break if it falls off.

Overall, excellent product. I’m in love with my Deux Plus monitor. No issues so far, and I hope to stay that way. Give it a try, guys. You won’t regret it!

Works amazing. Having a dual screen for my laptop when not at my desk have been incredibly useful. I’ve had it almos 2 years, it is durable. It’s pretty lightweight, and is about the thickness of a notepad; fits well in the laptop bag.

This is a game changer. It’s easy to mount on your laptop and easy to leave their portability wise. I always need to be using two screens for work and now I can sit on the couch instead of in my office and do work and be able to see both screens.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOut of the box, it was set up and working within minutes. It’s slim enough, I’m not concerned with the added weight to my backpack. As a digital nomad, every single thing I pack has to be worth it’s weight. And this is absolutely worth it’s weight.
No issues with weight on my laptop, and it doesn’t tip over. The cable is a tad long, but thats just in my opinion. I’m sure I’ll be happy it’s that long if I have the need to let it stand alone across a desk and not immediately next to my laptop.
Screen is bright, clear, and refreshes well. No delay dragging windows from one screen to the other.

Has made my travel life much much better!

A bit too heavy compared to the weight of the laptop and the holders that are supposed to hold the display horizontal when fully opened are not strong enough and the display hangs down a bit so I had to invent a way to put a screw on the frame in order to stay firm. The colors are not as good as the main screen, they are little bit pinkish. Still it helps me a lot to be productive and I wouldn’t ditch it for those reasons.

I just love this thing. I Iike to work from several different spaces, and this monitor makes it easy to do that without losing the second screen. The resolution is much sharper than my laptop screen, so it’s not an issue that it’s a bit smaller. Super simple set up and amazing portability.

  15. VilmaGvnfzcy says:

I have found this screen very useful, but it did require a bit of time to get used to it and how to work most effectively:
Point 1 – there is specific software to run the screen. This is simple, and is best left to open itself automatically on log in. The screen can then be plugged in and recognised. It takes a short time to start up which can be a bit disconcerting until used to it.
Point 2 – don’t bother with trying to attach to your laptop lid – use the stand – its much easier, and less restricting in movement
Point 3 – modification of the resolution for the screen is extremely limited – two options only under OSX – too big or too small. I have settled for too small and increased the window/font size.
Point 4 – there seems to be no effective brightness adjustment – but its fine as it is.

    Hello

This item is really neat, allows you to use a second screen though I did find it slightly flimsy, which makes sense due to the positioning and weight of where the second display positions out. I did find mobile pixels customer service shocking, who just referred me back to amazon rather than actually trying to diagnose the problem

  17. Anonymous says:

UPDATE: I contacted customer service and they did a great job rectifying the problem.

This was great when it worked. I didn’t use it for 7 months, and then used it briefly before it quit working properly. The connection is bad and the screen shuts off almost immediately, rendering it useless. Customer service from both the seller and manufacturer are subpar For almost $300, I expected this to last more than 13 months and once the year warranty is up, you’re out of luck. Disappointed and do not recommend if you are looking for a solid device to last you a while.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy job has evolved to include a lot more presentations, and thankfully now I’m back out on the road in person with my laptop. I can’t always rely on being able to plug into a monitor when I’m out and about, so a second screen is a must for me. In the past this meant lugging around a trusty LG external monitor, but that’s quite literally a pain plus it also needs it’s own power supply. This led to me looking for a lightweight monitor but one that’s also light enough to make it worthwhile and one that can run without the need for another external power brick.

What attracted me to the Duex Plus was the options it gives for use – it can be attached to the back of your laptop with the magnetic discs, and will slide out to give a second screen to the side for example. I can also fold it around, so the screen is facing out from the back of my laptop, which is great when I presenting something to a client which I want them to see. When I’m not on the road I can just remove it until it’s needed. However it will also stand on it’s own without being attached to the laptop at all (apart from the single power/display USB cable of course). There also a folding origami stand which stands it up at a nice angle for use.

Setup is easy – it took me a couple of minutes with the magnetic plates – remove the backing put them in place and press the monitor against the laptop and you are done. With Windows 10 there was nothing to do and no need to install any drivers as Windows recognised it and did it for me. All I needed to do was set the properties to either mirror the main display or extend the desktop depending on what I am using it for. The connection is a single USB C cable provided which both powers the screen and provides the signal. I can’t comment on use with a Switch or Mac but suspect that’s as easy from the manual.

The screen is very lightweight and yet the quality is excellent – images and text are pin sharp on it, as good as the main display. If you need a second screen and have a USB 3 slot then this does the job brilliantly.

Great quality but lightweight second scree

I do a lot of video conferencing and this helps me have a presentation, a video call and any other notes I need all in easy view. I now have 2 portable monitors and it makes all the difference with this one being able to be attached to my computer. It is so much quicker to get set up and going. Yes, it does make it a bit bulkier but I only have it attached when I am going to use it imminently.

The connection is so simple with a single USB-c connection I can power and connect the display from my MacBook Pro.

I can’t wait for my next session of Dungeons and Dragons because it is going to be EPIC with all these screens

    Now I have 3 screens

My husband is so use to working with two screens and I wasn’t sure if it would work with his Surface Pro but, lo and behold it does and I can’t tear him away from it. It’s the perfect size, portable and a very easy to set up. I am so very pleased with this purchase

Nice to have a portable second screen with the laptop and can work from the couch with my laptop table. Screen resolution is quite good. Strongly considering getting a second monitor to really boost my productivity for working and blogging.

The only recommendation I have to invest in strong magnets instead of the ones provided in the box.

This thing is pretty awesome. Simple enough directions. I was afraid the metal plates you stick to your laptop wouldn’t hold – but so far I’ve been using it for a couple months now and it’s held up excellent.

I use my laptop as a ‘lap top’. I have a little foam padded desk that sits on my lap that it sits on (so I can work on my bed, couch, etc) and this works well. It’s an absolute necessity if I go out of town for a 2nd monitor.

Directions say it has to be set in such a way the monitor touches the desk when open – I have an old Alienware 17 r1 where that can’t happen. It still works phenomenally with no issues. If I move around a bunch, it may unstick from the magnets, but that’s more of my fault than anything with heavy jostling. I just put it back on and it’s good to go.

Again 5/5 review. Phenomenal product. Very happy I purchased this – the fact I got it for only 110 by signing up for an Amazon card sweetened the deal for me. Even at full price – this is worth the money!

Easy to set up and use. However, the picture does shrink when I move items from my laptop screen to the mobile screen. Over all it works great. I can use it on the go or when I’m working remotely.

Bought for my laptop during pandemic so I could have dual screens like at office, while working at home. Had to hire an IT person to help configure it so I could have two programs open on the different screens. I ended up having to upgrade my windows systems to make it work, but now that it does its great. It attaches to the top of your laptop and you slide it out when in use. There is a magnet stabilizer that clicks on the bag so the laptop doesn’t fall back because it is heavy. When you’re done, just remove the stabilizer and slide back in place. I travel with this and it adds weight to the system, but I love it for the function.

I’ve waited awhile to review this product. I have had it for 4 months and honestly its been my best investment. I need 2 screens for my job and this thing has been perfect. I have used it in airports, in airplanes, in cars and of course the house. I have already received my monies worth as it allowed me to travel without taking PTO. I would highly recommend it. You will have to sit where you have room to open it.

Now for the part of the review where you want to know the flaws.. It is a little flimsy and you have to be gentle when opening and shutting it.
The way it is designed when it is attached you can end up “cutting” off the corner of the screen when you angle it. That can be annoying.
When we first attached it we did put 2 long 3m strips on each side between the 2 weights to help support the weight. This also allowed me to remove it if I wanted. It does add a bit of weight and makes it bulky. I already have a larger laptop and that is what you will need in order to attach it to your computer.
The screen could have been brighter but it is better than not having a 2nd screen.
It can drain your laptop battery pretty quickly if your laptop isn’t plugged in.
I tried to hook my switch up to it but the picture wouldn’t come up. May be user error.
Lastly, the screen is small. About the size of a surface so put your more detailed work on the bigger screen you have

So after that I would still say get it. I hope this review has helped you

Works well. I use it everyday with my laptop. The USB cable can be sensitive to touch turning of the monitor for a second.

I wish there was a bluetooh version to get rid of the wire. Also wish there was a blue light filter option.

Great product and screen great quality. We wish the front face was better attached, it has popped off a couple of times, so we had to glue it back in place. However, overall we recommend the product although we look forward to the updated, sturdier model someday

Not going to lie, I balked at the cost of this. With business travel getting back on track, I found that I really missed my second monitor for being able to look at work documents while on virtual video calls or trying to multitask with reports and various source documents. It’s completely worth the money.

This is easy to set up and I just keep it in my bag with the connected cable and it’s available to me whenever I travel. I feel much more productive and it’s completely worth the extra weight to lug around.

If you find yourself wishing you had a second monitor every time you travel with your laptop, tell yourself “life is too short to be aggravated when there’s an available solution” and buy this.

Wondering if you offer repair or replacement options. I couldn’t find any other way to contact anywhere other than leaving a review.

Your laptop has to be on some kind of surface. I use a laptop stand and it works well with that.

It is a bit steep for the price, but I’m having to work from home full time just now and live in a two bedroom flat so I don’t have a dedicated space for a desk and two monitors, etc.
