Fantastic !!! So quick and easy, cooks chicken faster than it takes my main oven just to heat up !!! I’m a complete convert, this air fryer makes cooking fun and easy (and I usually hate cooking) considering getting my daughter one for Uni !

Though easy to use, it needs experimentation regarding quantities, time & temperature. So I haven’t tried it extensively yet – good results with chips so far. Reason for 4/5 stars is the annoying chemical smell when first heated. Advice about that on the ninja website advises how to proceed before cooking food.

Easy to clean and use, no scrubbing required and takes less time than a conventional oven as heating less space. Wish I’d bought it years ago

Only had this for a few hours and already cooked my salmon for dinner in it. Chicken for hubbys lunch tomorrow and baked a cake in it !! A few things need tweaking but I am so pleased with the initial results. It can only get better ! I forgot to put the cake on bake to start with and did it on the AIR FRY button but it still came out pretty tasty just a bit crisp on top ! I wont be doing that again !
It was lighter than I expected and it fits nicely in my cupboard.
    Really easy to clean.
    1000% happy with it.

Nothing to dislike about this airfrier. It’s really easy to use and so versatile. The ceramic coating on the drawer is superior to normal non stick coatings. The Ninja oozes quality throughou

Absolutely love this Air Fryer. I washed it out before I first used it and not had a problem with smells or weird tastes. As long as you follow the instruction it works really well.
I cooked a whole chicken in it, potatoes, bacon, chicken wings. Each time cooked perfectly. With chips and potatoes you need to give them a shake half way through to ensure they all cook properly. Otherwise you will get some more cooked than others.
Halved my cooking time and reducing the amount of electric I am using to a big win for us.
So easy to clean. As soon as I have finished cooking I fill with hot water and washing liquid and leave to cool then just wipe around and it’s clean.

I bought this on a whim as my son is coeliac and so is cooking separate things is sometimes a challenge if we aren’t having the same meal

Initially I was a little bit worried about using it as the instructions are limited but I soon got my confidence and use it every day I love the fact that it is so easy to clean and you can have food on the table in half the time of using a traditional oven

It cooks meat and fish perfectly as well as crispy healthy fries and potatoes

I start a jacket potato in the microwave and then finish it on grill for about 20 minutes and it is absolutely perfect! I use it for bacon as well

My son has the gluten-free bread that needs baking and so was switching the oven on every day just for a couple of rolls but now we put it in this for five minutes and it is perfect

not only is it convenient but it is much cheaper to run than an oven and there is no warm up time

I love it and can’t recommend it enough I tell everybody about it!

Spent a year investigating and comparing different air fryers. I was really tempted to get a larger one for the rotisserie chicken option but settled for this ninja based on the reviews. I am not disappointed. My evening meals are speedy and a dream, I just throw in some veggies to roast, some fish and have food done in minutes. The chicken comes out crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The time cut from warming up the oven is a gamechanger. One word of warning, do check the food regularly. I had to change some of the timings/temp on some of my items as the internet is full of air fry recipes but not necessarily for this model and make. The beauty of this airfryer is the ability to check on the food and change the settings as needed.

I bought this in preparation of my kitchen being taken out and im so impressed!. Ive been cooking all my kids dinners in it, chips, chicken nuggets, wedges, jackets potatoes and its all perfect!. I dont think ill ever cook the kids dinner in anything else and it takes less than 10 minutes!

The only think I will say is the timings in the book are sometimes double whats needed, i cooked chicken strips and it recommended 15 mins, i checked on it after 7 mins and they were done so I would suggest not taking too much notice of the times and work it out yourself.

    You won’t regret buying this.

    This fryer is amazing !
It’s easy to use, easy to clean, much cheaper to run than the oven, and the food is cooked beautifully – also way less cooking smells
Every home should have one !
Only slight drawback is it’s size, but compared to all of the benefits its well worth the counter space it takes up
Wish I’d gotten one ages ago

Great air fryer and very easy to use and clean. Ideal for meals for 2 people but probably not more.
Only problem I’ve found, it was not supplied with a grill stand which allows more food to be added and a better air circulation. I have purchased a grill that fits but it should be supplied with one that fits nicely.

My husband and I are so impressed with this. We had an old tefal actify which did years of service but was a bit limited in what we could cook with it. I have cooked everything from cakes, (small) roast chickens, lamb chops and frozen pastries in this. On the ‘roast’ setting it is basically a little oven that heats up super quick. The first 2wks we had it we never switched on our gas oven.
The pan on this one isn’t huge which if you having a roasting joint may not quite fit – I got a gammon for 5 of us in it yesterday with a bit of careful trimming.

It’s really easy to clean the pan and griddle insert and they are well made. It doesn’t take up any more counter space than our old actify either but is so much more versatile. Careful not to position it too close to kitchen cupboards (we made this mistake) or the melamine (?) can lift.

I can really see that if we had a bigger version (foodie?) we would seriously consider saying goodbye to our gas oven which with energy prices the way they are could possibly pay for itself.

This appliance is a joy to use. It is versatile, easy to control, easy to clean, compact and does’nt cost a fortune in energy use compared to having to heat up a cavernous conventional oven. I would imagine most makes of air fryer are of the same in attributes but the reason I chose this brand was the good reviews it received and I like the shape and colour. So far no problems encountered and converted to tasty roasted veg etc. Extremely pleased with this purchase and therefore can highly recommend.

I bought this after reading the reviews. Found it easy to use. It’s saved me from using the oven all the time and to help with the cost of raising electric prices. So far I’ve used it to cook cheese on toast, fish fingers, quorn nuggets, bacon, small pizza & frozen chips . I tend to cook these at 180 temperature and they don’t take long to cook at all. Fish fingers & quorn nuggets and the chips probably take about 12 minutes to cook. I’ve had no complaints from my daughter about her food but my husband is old fashioned and likes the oven. I’m converting him slowly to my way of thinking.

I was begging my mother to get this for us as it would be a great addition to our appliances which we already have at home, we literally use it everyday, but i try to cut down. using this airfryer has shown how much oil food already comes in. making your own chips in this is lovely. keep in mind, i thought the amount of minutes is what it was, so the highest temp. is 210 and lowest is 170. sausages in these are great. literally can do anything. when i got this i said ‘if you do not have an appliance, this is the first one u should get’. There are four modes: air fry, roast, reheat, dehydrate. but don’t worrry as it automatically does it for you. cooking roast potatoes in here are good too. nice and stylish. easy to clean. makes a beep noise at the end before going off

  29. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

OMG, how did I live without this. I use it every day. Everything you do in a conventional oven you can do in this, and there’s no mess or splattering. Timing is a bit of trial and error, but you soon pick it up. Steaks, toasties, bacon, toasties, and even roast joints. I’ve never managed to make pork cracking right, but this does it perfect, fabulous piece of kit, and so so easy to clean, just wipe with kitchen towel. Also saves time, and therefore energy costs. Buy one, you won’t regret it.

I ordered this for my elderly father and he is very pleased with how well it cooks and quick. Cooking single meals in the Ninja is probably cheaper than putting stuff in the oven, and with the price of gas going up it will probably cover the investment costs.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe were procrastinating about getting an air fryer for a while but having finally done our research, we decided on the Ninja.

Best decision we ever made! Not only is it clean, quick and convenient but we have never tasted food like it! I was concerned food wouldn’t be crispy enough, but I needn’t have worried. Its crisper than being fried or grilled.

Takes away that greasy oily residue and minimises those smokey smells.

Only down side is it takes a couple of uses to get rid of that first use “plastic-y” smell but other than that it’s a winner.

We went for the AK100 3.8ltr size as there is only two of us and its ample for what we need.

So don’t procrastinate as long as we did, get one and ditch that deep fat fryer. Good for you and good for environment.

    Winner, winner chippie dinner!

Why didn't we buy one sooner?

I’m surprised I’ve left it this long before reviewing. I was instantly sold on this when my brother used his to reheat a takeaway pack of chips and it tasted like we just got it. It’s great for reheating and obviously airfryibg with very minimal oil so a very healthy option in my opinion.

Returned a Tefal Active Fry as it was hopeless and this works SO much better. Sausages done in 10 mins, chips get crispy – saves energy and saves time. Needs a couple of shakes during cooking but its quick easy. Ours is being retuned as it cuts out and switches completely off mid programme so hopefully the next one will be fine. Since we have had we literally haven’t used the main 2000w oven which takes 5 mins to warm up and uses double the power of ONE drawer in this.

Since buying, I have used my ninja daily, and I haven’t used the oven at all. I made bread rolls yesterday on the dehydrate and then bake settings, egg on toast, gorgeous homemade chips and wedges. I would definitely get the bigger version for a family of 4 but I love this one. It can cook wet foods but I wouldn’t cook a soup for example. Cupcakes were amazing but I wouldn’t cook broccoli although things like roasted Brussels would probably be very nice. No downsides so far but you will need worksurface space, it’s too big and heavy to store in a cupboard and it needs room all around to allow airflow otherwise it could overheat. It must not be placed on a cooker either. Overall 5 star product.

One of the best gadgets I have ever bought for the kitchen. I was thinking about the cost of gas going through the roof and how long things take to cook in the oven. My brother had recommended this model to me and I am not disappointed. It makes cooking quick and easy and the food tastes great and less fatwhat’s not to love Very pleased and happy custome

I just love the Ninja air fryer I’ve hardly used my oven since I bought this item. No waiting for the oven to heat up. I just pop food in the fryer, maybe chips in one side and sausages, fish or whatever in the other side. Easy to set up, even if it’s different cooking times. The fryer will hold the shorter cooking time so both are ready at the same time I was worried when I ordered it as I thought it might be complicated but couldn’t be simpler. Thoroughly recommend great buy

Great air fryer, used it frequently the last 2 weeks and found the dual fry options so useful, easy to clean, doesn’t consume a lot of electricity and the food comes out crispy when needed, the frying units are very spacious too.

Sits nice on my kitchen top with enough space for the air to filter away.

    Wife is happy too.

A must have in the kitche

The airfryer stopped working and so I put in a troubleshooting request to the makers to try to fix it. They were slow to respond but eventually did so. After many emails back and forth (and some repetition of information) they offered to replace the unit with a new one. This was impressive as the airfryer was 4 months out of guarantee. So I’m now impressed with the company rather than annoyed about the unit’s apparent fragility. Let’s see if the new one lasts longer. I hope so – the Ninja is the best airfryer I’ve had.

  39. Kelly M says:

This dual cooker is amazing. Air fries and reheats in a fraction of the time and the max crisp is brilliant. The ability to cook two different ways at two different temperatures and different times yet sync to finish at the same time is brilliant. Got the 9l capacity and it’s large but worth it.

  40. Anonymous says:

This clever device, big though it is, will transform the way you cook, especially fatty or fried foods. It has two separate trays, both independant of each other. They can be any length of time for cooking and temperature, each adjusted independant. Favourite feature is SYNC, which simply does what it says. If your cooking takes longer in one tray, it will hold the other one, so both finish ready for serving together.
Once you have one, you will stop using your oven, and save money, whilst eating more healthily at the same time.

Works fine easy to clean quick to cook especially sausage bacon ect no more frying pans and grease every where 5 star would recommend but for a family of more than 2 I would recommend bigger one highly if they make one mines big enough for me thanks hope this helps some one ou

It’s very versatile, we use it almost everyday. Do leave a big space for it in your kitchens, it is huge. A word of advise: clean it as soon as you finish. The plates are easy peasy, can go in the dishwasher. However, I found although the drawers have non stick coating on, it still leaves sticky residual on the walls and very hard to clean if I don’t wash it immediately.

  43. Tina Butler says:

Love my new Ninja dual air fryer.
Friends told me it would change how I cook and they were right. I’m still experimenting with recipes but everything is now cooked evenly and to perfection in a fraction of the time in a conventional oven and that’s good news for the energy bill as well. Yes, it’s big so maybe not for you if you have limited worktop space. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but considering it’s versitility I think it’s a great investme

  44. JeanneConrad says:

Been looking at this for a while and got it a good price. Love the ability to cook to separate meals at same time. Excellent for bacon, sausage etc but best to to turn them frequently. Chips etc need a shake half way through. Best to cook items for the times as per fan oven, so lower temps best. Looking at my smart meter, Its power consumption is very reasonable

  45. Anonymous says:

Easy to clean, sits comfortably on my worksurface (locals here call it a bunker), it’s fast, it’s quiet, it has loads of options.

I really do like this unit – and is far more efficient than an oven. Have cooked a number of things from gnocchi to a full chicken (perfect). The only down side, and it’s nothing really, I just wished I was able to create dried fruit a bit quicker.

I will say, the size I bought is very suited to a single person or couple, go for the bigger version if you’re a family.

Honestly don’t know what I did before I bought this. I often buy things and then promptly don’t use them and stick them in the attic. I thought I might with this. I have not used my oven in months. Everything goes in this. It’s such a wonderful appliance- it’s like my favourite thing in the kitchen. Even the worst of cooks will make nice food with this. Love it so much! The only small teeny thing to watch- keep your fingers well away from the insides when you turn the contents. I almost burned my finger down to the bone when I held the tongs too far down. Pls be careful!!! I only did it once and still love it though!

So many people rave about air fryers and I was sceptical but I absolutely love it. Replaces the need to oven, fry or grill using conventional methods. Have used for steak with comments it was the best I’ve ever cooked. Bacon, sausage, veg for a veg lasagne, pork chops.
It cooks beautifully while retaining the moisture and is incredibly tender.

So impressed with this air fryer. The double basket is such a good idea meaning you can cook either double amount of food or cook two different foods. For example chicken nuggets and chips – grandchildren’s favourite, can be on the plate in less than 15 minutes and all without turning on my big oven and having cooking trays to wash. The drawers hold quite a bit of food and I particularly like that you can two different cooking methods requiring two different cooking times and still have them ready at the same time. Ingenious! Highly recommended, pricey but so worth it!

This air fryer is really big and bulky but it certainly does work exceptionally well.
Being a dual fryer with a sinc facility is what makes this worth buying.
Frozen oven chips don’t require oil and cook nice and crispy so long as you shake them frequently.
Battered fish air fry’s in the second fryer at the same time you just have to set the required temperature and time for each basket then press the sinc button and wait for them to finish cooking at the same time.
Another big plus is the lack of cooking smells and how easy it is to clean the baskets.
Would definitely recommend this this product.

I have used many AirFryers like Tower, Philips etc, but this really different one. You can run two sections same time or one after another. You just need to find right settings for your dishes. Purchased this on prime day at a great price and loving it so far. Oven chips come out perfect and in less time and no more burnt edges or unevenly cooked food. The dual tray is perfect as you can place different items in each and sync times so both finish at the same time. You can also open them whilst cooking to check on the food or give a little mix which is great. Fish fingers cook in less than 15 minutes and come out both crispy and moist. We have also cooked fresh fish by placing it on foil and turning up the edges so that the juices don’t drip out and dry out the fish.

The machine is easy to use, haven’t had to look at the instructions yet and easy to clean.

I replaced a Tower air fryer which died an unceremonious death out of the blue. I thought I’d upgrade and try the Ninja instead of going like-for-like. Glad I did! This thing is so much more efficient, cooks quicker, heats up quicker, and is much easier to clean. The only thing I wish this had is a removable basket which can be removed from the tray itself, makes it easier to pour food out. Other than that, a great purchase.

This is by far one of the best things we’ve ever bought. Much quicker to through fries, vegetables and roast potatoes into this and cook in there then wait for the oven to get up to temperature. Not to mention it does jerky and cakes (haven’t tried this yet but will soon). Easy to use and great for when you need to do a quick meal without the wait times for pre heating.

Top tip a little oil goes a really long way with roasting or frying veg.

Love the speed of cooking. Does McCain frozen chips in about 10 minutes. Lots of different options (I.e maxcrisp, air fry, roast, reheat etc. I shall be replacing my conventional cooker when the pandemic is over as although small pieces of meat such as chicken pieces can be cooked in it, whole chicken and joints need an oven, but for the time being this does a splendid job alongside my microwave.

This has replaced the oven for most cooking.

Crispy skin jacket potatoes with fluffy insides, crisp breaded coupons, kievs, party food etc.

    Proper chips.

The ability to sync different foods in each drawer is invaluable.

    Brilliant bit of kit.

Absolutely wonderful appliance. It’s used for cooking virtually most foods in our house! It crisps roast potatoes and roast veg just as if done in a normal oven but without the fat , we’ve cooked chicken, salmon, chips of course, my husband even done his bacon and sausages for breakfast and a hash brown! They all come out nice and brown as if fried or grilled. Amazing and so much more healthy. The other day he had calamari cooked in it! Can’t praise this enough. Best thing we’ve bought in a long while. If there was any slight criticism it would be the smell when first used but this is fading fast now.

I thought about an air fryer on and off for years and am so glad I got this. Since having it I’ve cooked almost every single meal in it, it’s much quicker than using the oven and makes cooking so easy. Bit of trial and error with times / temperatures to begin with but everything has turned out great. The two draws are incredibly useful, especially using the sync functionality as you can just put it on and let the fryer do the work.

Have used three times. Twice meal for one, fish and chips from frozen, very fast, all in the same draw. Added very chunky chips a few minutes after fish. second time didn’t shake draw, all came out fine, very hot.
Third time did a Gammon joint, 1.3kg completely done in about an hour. Would normally take 2, plus hours.
Very impressed at the moment, very easy to clean. Have used both draws, but not together.
I’m impressed at the speed of cooking, I should have taken more care with the cooking times, as chips 16 minutes were slightly over done, and fish probably didn’t need 22 minutes. Depending on the frozen fish and chips size, probably need to experiment more to get correct timings, or just pay more attention during cooking.

Absolutely love this – very straightforward to use with the easy-to-read instructions and even some ideas of recipes to use. Easy to clean afterwards as well.
I have owned this a few weeks now and only used my oven once in that time to cook something that cannot be done in the Ninja (a pizza), and I have also noticed that it does not cost much to run at all based on readings from my electric smart meter.
If I HAD to say something negative, it would be that this is quite large, however I have made space in a spare cupboard to keep it when not in use (but it’s not too heavy to move around). If you have limited space on your worktop this might be something to consider.

I’ve cooked all kinds in this versatile unit and I love it, should have bought one years ago.
Simple to use but timings take a bit of practice as it’s easy to burn stuff if you’re not on the ball as it cooks so quickly.
Easy to keep clean, which was one of my concerns, comes up like new with just soapy water.
    Highly recommended!!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOnly used it three times so… longevity is currently unknown.
Cooked burgers, fajitas, and breaded chicken. Pretty much cremated the breaded chicken because I underestimated how quickly it cooks. My oven doesn’t heat up properly in my rented home, so therefore I’m used to food taking ages to cook.
Kids said the burgers were juicy and tasted better than I normally make.
Can’t wait to try the other settings on this.
(Bought on prime day so massive discount, but definitely recommend).

I’ve had 4 fryers in the past 5 years, they all failed with various issues ranging from doors not closing, mechanisms not triggering fryer to come on and electrical failures. Ninja are on another level, solid construction good sturdy handles. Non-stick tray inside each basket allows the food to not sit in any residual liquid or fat, you can of course remove this.

large independent operated baskets, you can sync the timers so that food requiring different cooking times complete at the same time.

Its just a really good product.

Bought this to replace air fryer which had become dangerous due to the catch failing between the bowl and basket, causing bowl to crash to the floor. This was bought to replace previous air fryer which kept switching off. Decided to buy something better quality so bought the Ninja. Wish I’d bought this first! What a quality item, pure genius. The baskets are ceramic so nothing sticks, ever. No catches to break, cooks practically anything you can think of – must be saving me a fortune on gas! The trivets in the baskets are an inspiration, food that can’t be turned e.g. oven fish cook evenly and don’t burn or stick. Food cooks so quickly and perfectly. Press the sync button and both compartments finish cooking at the same time. Worth every penny. Buy cheap, buy twice. Or in my case, three times!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBeen thinking of getting one of these for a while.
    One of those best purchases.
Initially thought it would save electric instead of using oven.
Then save time after working all day and not having to wait for oven to heat up.
Does all the above and more.
Very Very fast, lots of cook programs and also after two uses a doddle to use.
Wipe clean trays and also looks the part.
Can keep checking food while cooking and extend cooking and temp at push of button.
Two trays means you may have 10 min cook in tray 2 and something in tray 1 needing 20 min cook
this clever thing ensures they are ready at the same time.
Simple to use, easy to clean, saves time, saves power. BUY ONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot bigger than I thought. I have found this so easy and straightforward to use. The dual ability makes things so much easier when cooking different foods at different temperatures and time.
I find myself just using this and not bothering with the oven at all. So many options for all types of foods even the reheating option is great as the food is crispy and not soggy as it would be if reheated in a microwave.

This is great for roasting & air frying very quickly. It takes 3 minutes to heat up, open & insert your food. The fan stops automatically when you open it & restarts when it’s shut. Very little, if any, oil required and all food I’ve tried has cooked faster than a conventional oven.
To clean, simply discard excess oil into the bin & wash the basket with soapy water in about 1 minute! No back-breaking bending to get to the back of the oven!
Suitable for 1-2 people, large families would require a bigger cooking basket.
Delicious food faster – gets my vote!

Another great flyer from Ninja. This is particularly good if like me you have limited space in the kitchen. Small footprint and tall profile. My favourite function is the air frier , I can make pretty much everything on that setting. But reheat and roast are also very useful. I’ve ditched the microwave and haven’t got much use for my gas stove either anymore. 5/5

    Great quality and excellent functions

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this to replace a 4-year-old Duronic air fryer. This gave great service and, if there was a larger version, I would have stayed with Duronic. I went for Ninja after being impressed with my Shark vacuum cleaner. Shark and Ninja are the same company. It took a while to get used to but I am now very impressed with it, It is easy to clean apart from removing the trivet whilst still hot. I have a burn on my forearm to remind me. I solved this problem by fitting a keyring which enables me to get some leverage under it to remove. A bit like me: simple but effective.
To date no problems. I am able to handle much bigger portions of food and even roasted a beef joint very successfully. Also toasted sandwiches which are a nice addition to mid-day lunch. As is my custom,. I shall update if there are any problems but, to date, I am quietly impressed with my Ninja.

    Does the job rather well

Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersWhen I purchased my Ninja AF100UK air fryer, I fully expected that I would be using it to cook a few chips a little more healthily. How wrong I was. Yes the chips are excellent but so are many other things.
Steak is incredible, because you are cooking from the outside in, it tasted as good as any steak I have ever eaten in a restaurant. I have even cooked a 1.5 kg chicken in it. I put a little oil over the chicken, used my usual seasoning and cooked it for 50 minutes breast side down, turned it over and cooked it for a further 10 minutes, it tasted as if it had been spit roasted. I am a keen cook and have really enjoyed experimenting. Roasted chickpeas, part baked bread, bacon and sausages, toasted sandwiches and so much more. Anything you can cook in an oven or under a grill, you can cook in an AF but you need to check the times, AF cook a little more quickly and use a meat thermometer to check internal temperatures. This trendy little gadget is brilliant. We are a retired couple and find it a perfect size for the two of us.

Bumped in this product while browsing amazon for inspiration – fast and good delivery. Tried to cook nearly everything with it – always fast, tasty and no smell in the kitchen, it warms during the cooking process, but leaving on the counter during the process is absolutely fine. Steaks are absolutely amazing, soo jusy. Even cooked popcorn (with no oil added!). Just amazing, though be careful with max fry regime – most of the foods don`t need it. Haven`t tried dehydration yet. Easily washed in the dishwasher, and very quiet when performing.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis was a new machine and not too many reviews for us to watch.

However, our Philips machine was over eight years old so we decided to buy this and replace our old faithful.

It arrived this week and we have been testing the different functions. This is a lot more than an Air Fryer. The crisp function is excellent. The dual compartments work brilliantly (and can be timed to finish together).

Overall this is a fantastic machine, great price. 10/10

This item is great, very convenient to use.
It is simple to clean, all the ‘spatter’ is easy to deal with. The colour, plus flavour of the food is perfectly retained, using less oil, so healthy … it is win-win! My only problem is why I didn’t buy one earlier.

I’d never used an air fryer before so I decided to give it a go and bought this one. Buyers should be aware that the cooking part is small, I would say only big enough if cooking for one, neverthless, it’s perfect for my needs and is a lot quicker, and probably healthier, than cooking food in the oven. So as I said, it works for me!

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersWe had a Tefal Actifry but after a couple of years that completely gave up the ghost. The reason why we bought an Actifry was due to the paddle, but we always felt there was something “off” about it. It didn’t feel very well built, the paddle broke after about a year and the fit between the lid and body was poor, so a lot of hot air escaped. It was also quite noisy.

After a couple of years of light/moderate use the heater element completely burned out so we got rid and decided to go for a non-paddle air fryer.

Having seen the reviews of Tefal’s – again a lot of citing poor build quality, we looked for another brand and happened across the Ninja air fryer. Persuaded by the very favourable reviews we decided to get one. A wise choice!

Now obviously the major difference between the Actifry and the Ninja is that the Ninja doesn’t have a paddle, which means that food needs to be shaken to ensure even cooking – no big deal.

First impressions when we received it was that the build quality in comparison to the Actifry is night and day. The Ninja feels so much more solid. The pan and crisper plate are ceramic coated rather than Teflon, which also lends itself to a higher quality feel. The machine itself is much quieter in operation and the temperature controls are also very welcome – something that was very much missing from our Actifry. Also very welcome are the 4 cooking options – air fry, roast, dehydrate and reheat. So far we’ve only used the air fry function but we’ll definitely be trying the others at some point.

Cooking results so far have been excellent – we have cooked frozen chips, baby potatoes and fresh cut chips (yes we like our potatoes). What amazes me is the speed at which this thing cooks. With the Actifry it would take around 40 minutes to cook fresh cut chips, and even then they may need a little longer. With the Ninja we found that fresh cut chips took around 25 minutes – or 30 minutes if we wanted them extra crisp. It is far quieter than the Actifry and clean up is also much easier, as there are less items to clean – only the pan and crisper plate in comparison to the Actifry’s lid, fan filter, pan and paddle.

I’m looking forward to trying different foods in this that wouldn’t have been possible in the Actifry, such as baked potatoes, roasted veg, and for drying out fruit using the dehydrate function.

As you can tell, I am very impressed and given the higher build quality I am expecting to get many years’ use out of it. At first glance it may seem a bit more limited in use than the Actifry due to the lack of paddle, but in actuality this makes it more versatile as you can use it to cook more delicate foods that would otherwise have been broken up by the paddle.

    Highly recommended!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFollowing a diet programme and fellow members raved about air fryers, and how much healthier food can be cooked in them. I had a good look at the hundreds on the market, and for size and style I chose this baby. Brilliant purchase. I just wish I’d purchased the next model up which has two cooking compartments and slow cooks as well. But if you want an air fryer with extra little touches this is for you. The food may be healthier but my OH says the chicken and potatoes I’m cooking taste better than they ever have.

Golden Review Award: 168 From Our UsersLet’s face it, you can buy a functioning air fryer for a third of the price, but this is in a different league if you want something you can use for a lot more than chips on a daily basis. It’s very well-built, with a ceramic non-stick lining for the cooking pan, and it’s surprisingly quiet. Though it is big and looks like something from an SUV design workshop, it doesn’t take up much space, and the size means you can make good use of its flexible temperature control and options to essentially replace your main oven for small quantities.
The photo is of butternut squash roasted with a little olive oil for 20 minutes: it’s just not worth heating your main oven for that. Once you realise its potential as a serious cooking tool, you’ll find yourself re-thinking recipes to make the most of it, and if you’re not a fan of the microwave, you can easily use it to re-heat a meal for one.
It doesn’t come with accessories, so you’d be wise to invest in some silicone-tipped tongs for turning and picking up food, and as with all new kitchen equipment, it takes a while to get used to it; if your budget stretches this far, it’s worth buying.

Versatile, well-made machine which justifies its price tag

Wasn’t sure if an air fryer can compete with traditional frying and so took us a while to take the plunge and invest in one. After some research the ninja was on our top list, opting for the larger model to help save time we have not been disappointed!!

Like the instant pot this (not so little) machine may become an essential kitchen item. It gets chips with little or no oil, in fact frozen chips are probably coming out more healthier as you see the amount of oil left behind after they finish cooking. The come out crispy and tasty!

The machine is easy to use and the max crisp function certainly helps get that crunch on items that you would usually rely on a frying pan for. On top of this you know it’s more healthy! Win win!!

Only downside is the size, it’s quite big especially the larger version but if you have space or somewhere to store it’s worth it!

Kind of wish we had one of these earlier now but we are certainly using it enough to make up for lost time!

    Get one!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI bought this as a present for myself after seeing advertisements. Well, I couldn’t be happier with it – I don’t even keep it in a cupboard as it’s used several times a week. What a fantastic machine! To be honest I don’t use the dehydrate feature as often as I’d thought I would, purely because of the long dehydrate time & minimal space, but I was aware of that prior to purchase. It nicely dries a couple of cut up apples in one go, but I’ve lost interest in that function now. The air fry function is a godsend – frozen sausages take less than 20 mins (fresh ones about 12 mins) with no mess, they brown beautifully too. And home-made schnitzel crisped to perfection in 10 minutes with just a spritz of oil, much healthier than traditional frying. And the heat-up function is SO much better than a microwave – for things like leftover pizza, or anything battered or breaded, it brings the food back to life rather than the stale taste you get from a microwave. Very easy to use with clear instructions. Highly recommend.

Was in the market for an air fryer so after having done some research plumped for the Ninja. I have had a Ninja food chopper for some time now and it has always been reliable. The fryer like the chopper is robustly built and very simple to use and clean. I can honestly say I have used it every day since it has arrived, I did some lovely tandoori chicken in it! I have now removed my trusty George Foreman grill from the worktop for now as this machine seems to be able perform all the same functions and more as well as having a smaller footprint.
