The best Classic Mini console on the market, besides Pi...
I’m so glad I bought mine when I did, I think it was an Amazon return. But nonetheless, I love my SNES Classic Mini. Especially with it being modified to play every SNES game, which I purchased a standalone NES controller and I use my SNES Classic Mini as an NES Classic Mini also (which the NES CM can be used as an SNES CM).

Yes, it’s just a bit of plastic around what’s essentially a raspberry pi but dammit but you can’t deny that’s a cute form factor. Biggest con for me though, no Chrono Trigger – but there are some ‘unofficial’ means of achieving this…
GREAT… but would have liked more games.
Having owned an original SNES in period, complete with F-ZERO (limited edition set), I was keen to get back to grips with the SNES mini. It’s build quality is superb, the joypads are identical to what I remember too, which is an important detail.
Other reviews have said it all really.
The only let-down is the number of games. Considering there were so many over the years for the SNES, it’s a shame that Nintendo weren’t more generous. Apparently you can hack the device to add games, but it just seems unnecessary and Nintendo should really have sorted this even if the device would have cost more for them to have been able to do so.
That said, it’s a great thing to have and its size and portability (I also bought a nice case for it) mean it can be taken on trips and used elsewhere. Yes, the cables can be a bit of a faff, but you know what? It means it will endure and any Wi-Fi or battery reliance would have just lessened its credibility and authenticity.

However what is here is amazing, not a single dud game. 2 controllers as well.
Bare in mind this console can be easily modified using a pc to enable it to play every SNES as well as several other system emulators.
I have really happy memories of playing my SNES as a teenager and this is an amazing trip down memory lane. Some of the best ever SNES games are included and the mario games in particular are a joy. StarFox is also still great fun to play.
There are only a couple of negatives about the console:
– Some of the titles are hard to look at for too long without getting a sore head, due to the image quality on a big screen (Mario Kart is the main game this applies to).
– There are a lot of other games that could/should have been included (mortal Kombat, Super Bomberman etc).
The solution to the headache inducing Mario Kart is to play it on a much smaller screen, if you have one, pretty much every game looks better on a smaller screen. There is a way to add additional games to the console, but having tried it, it was a bit beyond my expertise.
For the price I have had a good number of hours of fun out of this and if you fancy re-living your childhood and you’re an 80’s kid like me, this is a must!

Good product, arrived fast. Could have had some other classics (R-Type, Pilotwings, Populous, Wing commander etc.) installed, but I knew what the games installed were when I bought it. The games that are on it play well, the same as they did on the original. Could have had longer leads on the controllers, but that aside, very good & eminently playable.

Bought this for my nephews to be the cool uncle who gets them good gifts, want them to be classically trained rather than just jumping in to the new stuff. Lots of great games and good entry in to games for younger players, they have had lots of fun with it, well worth the money

may not be upto todays standards of gaming but the selection of games is well thought out. Theres something for everyone and its easy to transport). the price seems to fluctuate if your not in a rush id wait until its cheaper as whilst its great its not worth 80 or 90. you can use any USB plug with the main cable

Love this! Currently 40+ hours into final fantasy 6, while taking breaks for two of the best platformers ever made ‘Super Mario World’ and ‘Yoshi’s Island’. With Metroid, Megaman X, Secret of Mana, Street Fighter 2, Contra, Super Ghouls and Ghosts and Zelda: A link to the past also on there it’s pure retro class! The leads could be a little longer but it’s just a case of moving it closer.

Great collection of games, the save and rewinds features are very useful and make for a more newbie friendly experience. Presentation is on point and the actual console itself looks amazing, along with the controllers. I highly recommend star fox and Kirby superstar!

As soon as I saw the SNES Mini get a release date, after seeing the NES Mini Classic, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one (Especially missing out on the NES Classic). Growing up playing the SNES with my brother and other family members as a kid, made me want this! Unlike the NES Classic, the SNES comes with two controllers as standard (The wires are long too), so you can play two player Mario Kart from the get-go! Packed with all the classics, F Zero X, Mario Kart, Star Fox (And the unreleased Star Fox 2!!!). I was a little disappointed that Ninja Turtles wasn’t featured on the list, as this was a favourite of mine. But it still has the main classics to get your appetite going and take you back to your childhood. It’s also great for new young gamers as well. My niece loves playing Super Mario and Donkey kong.
I recommend it, but do beware the retro games can get a bit repetitive after a while (When you’re used to playing new style video games on PlayStation and Xbox). That’s why I haven’t given it the full 5 stars. But a must for any gamer to add to their collection.

Who needs a Flux Capacitor, I’ve just gone back in time.
Yes I know this is an expensive way to get a limited selection of SNES games. Yes I could have put a retropie in a SNES style case and used 8bitdo wireless controllers. In fact I have this setup in my office. However in my lounge, sitting on the floor in front of the telly playing Metroid on a wired controller takes me back to being 15 and I bloody love it. So I don’t regret this purchase one little bit.

For they’re on the whole FACTUALLY incorrect.
You DO NOT need to buy a separate power adapter. It comes with a similar USB lead that comes with smartphones that plugs into the same plug.
The games ARE NOT graphically inferior to the original. You have three different viewing modes. 4.3 (original ratio) with a glitch to set up the retro feel to 10 so there’s a flicker similar to the old CRT TVs back in the day. There’s the 4.3 aspect that does give some extra (less graphic quality to the original but perfectly playable) pixelated effect since it’s showing up on modern TVs so much bigger than back in the day. Or there’s the TRUE original graphics which shrinks down the 4.3 aspect to give exactly the same graphics of the original SNES.
I will update my review in time if need be since I haven’t had it long yet. But all the games seem to play without a hitch. Already halfway through Super Mario World and nearly finished Street Fighter 2.
For the money you are getting hours upon hours of game time and even some of the weaker titles really aren’t bad games, there’s no true duds amongst the 21.
The console is well built and the controllers are exactly how I remember them.
Any negatives for me aren’t a big deal. Indeed there’s only 2. The reset button could have been incorporated either hard or through software to the controller. And the USB power lead and HDMI cable could be a meter longer.
Whilst this is a review of the console it needs saying that since I bought it it’s gone up by ten pounds. And I’d already paid over the odds for it going by when High St stores had it in stock, if it was to hit over the hundred pound mark then I’d say it would lose its value for money somewhat. That’s down to greedy sellers though.

Delivery was super fast even though I was expecting it 3 days later fab! Now if you don’t mind Mario awaits.
I forgot to say, the controllers unlike the brand (in pic) are remarkable the same (weight wise) good build!
Only thing that slightly weighs me down a bit is having to remove the front part of the (what looks like the orriginal control socket) on the console, but all games are just how you remember them, I’m 40 in March and had the orriginal 😉

This is my childhood, only a minature version. Love this so much, i used to love playing Mario Kart as a child, but then of course you grow up. I feel like a kid again, playing this now. It’s absolutely awesome. Highly recommended.
What’s not to love
I’m an 80’s child so grew up with these games.Really takes me back & I am enjoying them immensely.
The jump from the NES to SNES is outstanding
Coming from the NES, it’s outstanding. The jump in graphics alone was enough to shout about, but when you’ve got such classic games, the console really comes into its own. There are ways of adding more games to this, although it’s not legal and i’ve not done so myself – but the games that are included are fantastic. I’ve fully completed Earthbound in approx 22-23 hours. That alone has probably paid for the price of the console! What else can you do for approx 2 an hour?! I’ve got plenty more gems to play. Everything from the music to gameplay of these classics is just pure fun.
You get the console, two controls, beautiful box/instructions manual, and then the console itself. Whilst it’s true the console is merely an emulator, the official retro-looking controls feel utterly fantastic. Old-school Nintendo quality at its best. Can’t recommend this enough!!!
A lovely kit of Nostalgia
The SNES classic is the ideal kit for people who are interested in it purely for the nostalgia of old times sake. This little console is perfect just for that. However, if you assume this kit is anywhere near the original console, then you’d be bitterly disappointed. The right consumers wouldn’t even question buying the SNES classic, however if you are expecting something more in terms of gaming, this console is not for you.
I awarded 5 stars purely for MY entertainment. I am one of those that didn’t even question buying the console.
Nostalgia trip with Mario RPG thrown in!
Worth buying just for MARIO RPG! Being European (at least for now) this game was never released in the UK. This game has stood the test of time and lives up to the hype! Great looking piece of nostalgia

Brilliant little console full of nostalgia! Packed very nicely. Only need a USB adapter plug but everyone has one of those these days. Forgot how annoying it is that you can’t sit that far away from the tv because of the wires on the controllers but that adds to the nostalgic feel of it all, being kid and sitting on the floor with a blanket playing Mario! Wish you could buy more games for it!! Love it!!

Best Xmas present I’ve had since I got the Snes in the 90s. Absolutely brilliant little machine with all the classics. Just spent hours playing on Mario Kart with the kids and they loved it.

a great collection of snes games, the console itself is compact & beautiful, those classic games looks great on hdtv, it comes with 2 gamepads where the cable is long enough.

if u compare it to Rpie3 & other emulation methods,
remember, that thing is just plug & play , even the save states mechanism is simple enough.
and if u have the technical skills u can add a large number of games by mo**ing it.

Even the main menu music is catchy…irritable bowel inducing irritating within 38 seconds but that’s the Nintendo way. How they could exclude classics such as Pilotwings, Chrono and Zombies Ate My Neighbours but this is easily alleviated by a simple hack but come on…you shouldn’t have to put the time in, these should already be here. Regardless it’s good to have the classic controller in the hand again whisking you back to better, simpler times…pass me the tissue love I’m welling up…not that one, that’s from earlier…

Great little console, really takes me back, games were made to be fun instead of serious back then.
I gave this one to my father in law. He is 70. He used to play the various Mario games back in the 90’s and he really enjoyed it. My nephew also played the various 2 player games and he was very enthusiastic about it. Most interesting was my brother in-law who I watched playing hours of Megaman X and finishing it a couple of times! The whole family, 3 generations, all being super happy with the console. The controllers are sturdy and have the same great feel with the original. The cables are a bit short. The unit itself feels sturdy feels like is built to last.
Please do note you need to provide power as there is no adaptor, any old micro-USB phone charger should do. If you are looking to buy something more specific a raspberry-pi adapter will do nicely as well.
One feature which I would like to have is to be able to open the console’s menu from the controller rather than having to press the ‘Reset’ button. I will try to remember some of the most interesting games now (might miss the exact titles),
the Metroid is a really atmospheric puzzle-driven platformer which could be called an action-adventure today,
Megaman X – high octane platformer, fantastic music
Kirby – super cute platformer especially child friendly,
Kirby “golf simulator” – wacky and funny,
Super Mario World 2, classic platformer (quite hard)
Yoshi’s island (Super Mario World 3), fantastic platformer, balanced difficulty, amazing amazing visuals!
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, for those epic duels,
Super Ghouls and Ghosts (unforgiving platformer), Contra 3 (unforgiving run-n-gun platformer),
a classic Zelda adventure,
Mario Cart, Star Fox and Star Fox 2 (plain polygons space shooter),
Donkey Kong Land 2, straightforward platformer, nice for the 2 player cooperative option
Final Fantasy III and Secret of Mana, incredible Square Enix turn based and action RPGs,
Mario RPG, Castlevania, Type R, and some more that I can’t recall at the moment.
All in all, money for hours of fun and the nostalgia effect is great. However as a parent I would like to see some parental options, eg. restrict some games from the children and also restrict how many hours they can play during a 24h period. Given how advanced are the parental controls of other Nintendo platforms, even the handhelds, I would expect they don’t skimp on that but they did. This is why I put a 4 star on this otherwise awesome device.

I bought this for my ‘born in the 80s’ son as a birthday present and he was over the moon; even more so when he plugged it in and started to play. All of his favourite games were pre-loaded plus a lot more besides and I regret that his poor wife will be more of a ‘game widow’ than ever!
A fun bit of nineties nostalgia
Bought this as s birthday gift for my son. He loves it and, as I was a nineties teenager who owned many games consoles, I find it is worth its money just for nostalgic value. Think I use it more than my son does. The console itself is great. The games are fun and the menu is easy to use and is nice not having to worry about internet connection. A must for any nineties gamer and great fun for kids and adults.

I was really excited when ordering this as i used to own a snes when i was a kid and loved playing it. Well some 25 years later i was not dissapointed as the games included a good selection of classic titles such as Mario Kart and Streetfighter in addition to 2 original controllers and the mini console itself. A must for snes fans and retro gamers.

Great and portable, but controller cables short.
Great nostalgic console of good quality. However, the controllers are wired and the cables are not sufficiently long enough to provide a comfortable experience of leaving the console on the TV stand (ie, we had to bring the console out and to our feet). But I hear others love to use this as a portable console and to plug it in to their laptop for some desktop fun at work, etc.

Purchased as a gift for our 7 year old son. He loves every retro and this was a great way to show him the games we grew up playing. Well made and really easy to install as he did it himself so if a 7 year old can do it. This is a bargain for the price with all the games on it and as the controllers are attached they can’t go missing or cost you money in batteries.

I’m very used to playing SNES games on emulators on my PC and these games look just as good as any of them. They obviously look pixelated, that’s how 16-bit games looked and it’s part of the charm for me. Also, people complaining that it’s not widescreen – these game’s were made in 4:3 so obviously they’re not going to display in 16:9. I’ve been playing it on my projector and I think it looks awesome. The hardware itself is actually adorable and the fact it comes with 2 controllers is excellent too. Looking forward to finally getting around to completing Earthbound!

The console and pads are well built. The beauty with this is you can download hackchi 2 and add your own games. Not just Nintendo but sega and many others. You can even run them from a usb stick. Tutorial online show you how to do this. It’s a lot easier to do than setting up a raspberry pi for retro gaming.

Probably the best birthday present I ever bought for my boyfriend. The look on his face was like a kid on Christmas morning in the 90s when the original SNES was the best thing ever. Hearing the music for donkey kong country bought my childhood rushing back! Even better that all the games are pre loaded meaning no blowing dust out of the old cartridges to make them work!

I really like the SNES classic mini, I was pleasantly surprised at how small it is, i’d say its almost a quarter of the size of the original.
It has on it a lot of my favorite games like Zelda, Super Mario World and Super Metroid, but they could’ve put more on or made the Snes mini connect to the net, so you can download more. The game controllers are exactly the same as I remember the originals, except the cables are too short and need to be double the length they are, they are an acceptable and usable length tho, don’t get me wrong.
The state saves system is adequate I guess, from what I’ve seen so far. It has a fast forward and rewind function as part of the state save system.
