my partner has the nintendo switch (the big one) so i decided to get this. it’s honestly amazing. i thought i’d feel like i was missing out, because it doesn’t have the same features as the other one (like connecting it to the tv or removing the controllers) but honestly i love it! i prefer mine because it’s just a handheld device, light and easy to use. i got the yellow to match my phone and LOVE IT.
initially bought it to play animal crossing and stardew valley but the games that are available, both paid and free to play, have been nothing but entertaining. I did not get the online membership but was definitely still worth the purchase.
Best purchase ever!!! Bought nearly a year ago and still using every day!
Great value for money. All working so far. Arrived quickly . Happy
Great handheld wifi device that comes with mains charger.
Lightweight and perfect for gaming. Screen quality is very good with adjustable brightness.
Yellow colour is vibrant and makes the device stand out.
Games & apps etc can be downloaded from online store, for example Fortnite, YouTube etc.
Headphones can be plugged into device , which helps with multi player games chat.
I love my switch, light and easy to travel with. Great quality screen and sound. The only issues I’ve noticed are the joystick can be a little sticky and glitchy at times. The fan when it gets going sounds like boeing jet at times, it also comes and goes depending on the angle of the console. Also I am partially deaf so I always edit the balance of the sound for headphones. There is no such option on the switch which surprises me as most tech allows this (Laptop, phone, ipad).
I love my switch lite so much I’m glad I got it.
My son loves it its great bit of kit .only downside battery dint last very long
Came on time and works great, actually came with a case which was amazing, my little one has had hours of fun, definitely good value for money and would recommend to anyone
Gift for my girlfriend and she loves it! Had it since Xmas and it’s made her very happy
No problems so far thank you very much
little lockdown treat to pass the time and it does do that plenty of very cheap games to pass the time and great fun hopping on with friends and family.
I would have like a few more instructions, but we figured out how to get it going. My brother loves it!
A gift for my daughter. She loves it. Loves the colour and size which was bigger than she expected.
Bought it for my daughter as a birthday present and she loves it. Came in great condition. She plays everyday
Its fun to play, and had no problems with the handheld game except for the internet connection with it. Other than that the system is fine.
Not that anyone has anywhere to go right now, but I like how portable this Switch Lite is!
It’s a Nintendo switch, where can you go wrong! Super speedy delivery!
Perfect condition Nintendo switch it works great looks amazing love the color. Thanks amazo
It came super fast with shipping! It works really good! It seems to be working fine. Even the charger works. Well worth the money, especially because they’re hard to find right now! Thanks so much!
I absolutely love my Nintendo switch lite console!
I purchased it here on Amazon as it was pretty much sold out elsewhere & amazon was the 1st retailer to have the full selection of colours back in stock, & at an unbeatable price. I am a regular Amazon customer, & as this was a ‘bigger’ buy, & was to be delivered, based on my experiences with my usual Amazon deliveries, I trusted Amazon to deliver this not only promptly (which was great, on next day prime delivery), but also safely. It arrived speedily, & was well packaged & fully boxed as brand new & unopened, as it should be. The console box includes the lite console itself, & also includes the official Nintendo mains charger, which I think is the ‘ C ‘ USB cable (not the standard mini USB, but the slightly wider one which is used to charge Samsung tablets & Samsung phones)((these wider charging cables can be easily purchased separately, here on Amazon, or in a number of high street shops)), so with the charger included, it just needs to be fully charged prior to its 1st use.
This console was simple to set up, & connect to WiFi, – though WiFi is NOT needed, & with this lite console, it DOESNT require pairing with a TV either, like the regular Switch console does, as this is a HANDHELD console. I know that most do have WiFi nowadays, & downloadable games are available on this console, alike its regular console, however, still, not everyone has access to WiFi, so 1 huge advantage of this console is that it can be used without having to connect up to a TV or WiFi. The console itself is sleek & easy to hold, with a touchscreen, & it is all in one, – the two joycon controllers which are removable & replaceable on the regular switch, is completely built into this lite console as a whole, so is a good solid console. It also has a game card slot, for physical games, a micro SD card slot, and has a headphone jack too.
I’ve owned both the regular switch console, as well as this lite console, & I have to say that I much prefer this lite console.
I would deffo purchase again in future, & from here on Amazon, & I would deffo highly recommend
I hope you have found this review to be useful, x
My partner and I already had a Nintendo Switch, but I wanted one for myself only. I was going for the coral but it was sold out. I don’t regret buying the yellow one. It’s super cute and adorable. I’m totally enjoying playing games now that I’m spending more time at home.
I used Amazon’s easy to pay thingy, so I paid around 40 a month, which was easy. Amazon sent me an email anytime the payment time was close.
When you switch it on it whines. Highest pitch, loud scream of stiletto pain in your ears. Lasts at least 30 seconds.
Also it’s default switch off isn’t off, it’s standby. You have to hold the tiny off button down for like 10 seconds before it gives you the option to power off, so it will just eat battery charge expecting you to be back in a couple of minutes. As default. Unchangeable default.
Keeps telling me when my friends are online, and the only way to stop it is to unfriend them? Annoying.
Single player mode preferrers: save your Nintendo Online free trial for when you really need it, like if you want to spend some time intensively doing all the friend nook stamps in Animal Crossing New Horizons (and getting all the fruit varieties).
Will absolutely give you wrist and thumb strain, and I have teeny tiny hands.
TL;DR: Games good, device poorly thought out for comfort, and ear related sanity
Arrived a day earlier so good delivery and great console
So at nearly 20% more than RRP was it worth the money?
Yes it was as I now have a 5 year old little girl who is loving her Switch Lite and Animal Crossing!
Thanks to M-S Gaming & delivery by Amazon!
very good and amazing piece of technology, only had it 2 days and had a small problem with the movement in a game but was easy to fix
Me and My family love this product. It is amazing and is fun for playing games. There are tons of free games and 50 cents to 60.00 games so its perfect. 100% recommend.
Very fast delivery, product is in good condition and is running perfectly, everything came as described.
Everything came nicely packaged. There wasn’t any flaws with it at all. I’ve had the switch lite for a few months and I haven’t experienced any issues with it. I mainly play animal crossing and Luigis Mansion and both run really nicely.
Got it sooner than expected and the box was in perfect shape! Bought it for 218$ (waited for the best price) and didn’t regret it! My mom loves her new game system lol
Wow I was expecting a used switch lite and I got a brand new one 10/10 would highly recommend to anyone
The lite is flimsier than a standard switch so it feels a lot cheaper and as if it’s about to break at any time Haven’t experienced the joycon drift I got with the original switch but the joycons kind of make a ping and squeak noise when you use them and the
Buttons click. Smaller size is great and you don’t notice the smaller screen if you’re used to playing handheld. It’s kept me going through lockdown!
I have just bought this product for my Daughter as a gift. I didnt ask or see anything about Warranties. Does this product come with an automatic warranty? If it doesn’t then how do I go about getting some?
Brilliant little gadget! My daughter enjoys every second of it! Looks amazing, battery life is really long, and touchscreen is responsive. Easy to use, amazing gift, well and truly worth getting one!
As an owner of both a switch in the past and now the lite version I can happily and safely say both console versions work well and perform perfectly, I recommend the lite especially as it feels comfortable to home when given grips as an add on, feels like old times playing hand helds agai
Feels great in the hands and I prefer the lite version over the regular switch dock versio
good deliver only came in 2 days and it in good conditio
Fantastic product, no damages to packaging or item. Quick delivery, ordered on a bank holiday and arrived next day. Very happy with this product.
I have no complaints, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it feels in the hands I have pretty large hands. I would have preferred to have gotten a proper switch to use on the TV but sadly they’re all out of stock so got this instead and was not disappointed.
The screen size was something I was hugely worried about but after using it for a week now I can say that the 720p screen looks quite gorgeous and very very crisp due to the pixel density making any game I’ve tried still look really good, Mario Odyssey looks great, Breath of The Wild looks great, text is easy to read and the colours are vibrant.
I would highly recommend this but please be aware that certain games are not practical on the Lite such as 1-2 Switch, Ring Fit adventure and anything else that requires motion/joycons or HD rumble since the Lite has no rumble at all. If those games are what you’re after you might want to pick up a standard switch at some point like I will when they are back in stock.
Overall it is a brilliant little device especially for the price, Mario Kart and Animal Crossing feel perfect to play on it and the portability is amazing, much nicer than taking a normal switch out with you.
Not really much to say besides it’s everything I expected. Wanted one for ages, they seem to be sold out everywhere, amazon offered it on finance so I couldn’t resist.
Note- buy a micro SD card!
very good, brought it for my girlfriend as there’s not much to do in lockdown and she’s loving i
Great product but non working charged and non us charger.
If you’re struggling to get a switch console and trying to decide whether to get the lite or not, I think this is a great alternative. On its own, it’s a great handheld console. I have the console version and I bought this for my boyfriend and in comparison it feels good in your hands, the quality is just as good in terms of the buttons and analog sticks and the slightly smaller screen size is still good when you look at it as a separate console. Up to now, only Animal Crossing has been played on it but so far, so good. Hoping to get more games soon.
Love Nintendo! Always have. This is a great product for people who love to play games on the go. It’s a very good size. Not very heavy and a good amount of storage space to have to start.
Ideally wanted the normal switch but can’t hold of that anywhere so opted for this, it was out of grey or yellow as the others were out of stock, my partner has grey so opened for yellow, as you would expect with a Nintendo console the quality is good, I was expecting typical Nintendo graphics being rather mediocre, thinking DS lite maybe, but am astonished to see that the graphics are better than expected obviously not your PS4/Xbox one graphics but PC like quality again not your NVIDIA GRX2010 graphics but lower range PC gaming. Battery life could be better but I suppose it’s more like the switch, so not as portable as such, but I mean about 4 hours is good for what it is, the lightness of it, you wouldn’t realise it was in tour hands as such. All in all a good console/ handheld gaming device
I bought the Yellow one for myself as i thought it was bright and cheerful. I bought mine on the day of the Coronavirus lockdown. It has been of enormous benefit to my mental health as it has kept me busy and distracted from the fact that i am in the shielding category.
It was quick to charge, took a few hours. With the wifi off it will last 2 days of all day game play, but with the wifi on visiting friends islands it drains really quickly, about 50% an hour.
I bought animal crossing, and both zelda games, and ive played over 300 hours on animal crossing so far.
I would say that this is very much a single person console, its not really designed for sharing because it saves the game files to your console hard drive so you cant have 2 accounts of the same game on the same console. Some games have cloud save but not all do, so if you are a single player like me it wont bother you, but if you think you can buy one and buy one game and pass it around, you are going to be disappointed.
The one thing i will mention is that i bought a hard case and a silicone cover for mine and you will need it. However, do not under any circumstances plug in the charging cable and leave it in the case like i did, i thought it was going to set on fire it was so hot. The lite cannot handle being charged without lots of free space around it to suck in air to keep it cool
The joysticks and buttons are easy to use and comfy, and for me it has been a salvation during this pandemic which has kept me very distracted.
If mine fails i would buy another one immediately, however nintendo, can you release a purple one please!
Its brilliant, the screen is crystal clear, the graphics are gorgeous. I also got the switch online thing for 17 quid because it allowed me in animal crossing to visit friends islands.
Cant recommend it highly enough!
It’s not broken yet so that’s pretty cool! I got this as a gift for my best friend and the package smelled like gasoline, and as pictured was pretty beat up. I was scared the screen was cracked underneath it all but it wasn’t!
2 Month update: Still works perfectly!
I’m sure this doesn’t need a review, but my daughter is very happy with it.
Absolutely love this console and glad I went with the yellow because its so cute
Though we have a family (my) original Switch console, the kids wanted their own Animal Crossing Islands so we went with the cheaper option of a Lite console each rather than two more originals. They’re a great size, lovely to use and the yellow colour is vibrant and definitely different! Battery life is certainly better than the launch Switch and loading times are also a little faster. Overall, very happy with the purchase.
My son has the regular switch and wanted this one because it’s smaller for travel. My kiddo loves them both!. The only downside is that some games you can share on both devices and some you have to pay for again. I will say there wonderful for home and travel. My 15 year old takes his everywhere. There worth every penny.
A nice little handheld console that packs a punch for its small size.
Firstly the Switch Lite is what it says, light to hold and comfortable to grip. The machine has a bright screen with considerable graphical power and loud speakers for its small size. More than enough to be able to immerse yourself in larger games such as Mario odyssey and metro redux which traditionally would be for a larger tv based gaming. Also love the bright yellow colour as it gives the handheld console a little bit more character than it otherwise would have.
On the downside is it only has 32gb memory and for the larger games it does take a little Time to load, but for such a small machine and relatively cheap price one can’t really complain. Yet another excellent console made by Nintendo
Not having a TV, I didn’t want to go all in for a Switch but the Lite is absolutely perfect and a first rate alternative.
One of the best consoles ever made, perfect for all ages.
Bought the lite after debating between it and the normal switch. In the end, I decided the features the normal switch would offer me just didn’t justify the additional cost (for me personally- other people will think different).
Arrived, well packaged. Opened it up and stuck it in to charge. Comes with about 65% battery already so didn’t take long to charge. Setup was easy.
Purchased animal crossing through the nintendo estore and it took approximately 45 minutes to download so not the quickest in terms of download speed ability but not the worst either.
Lightweight, yet sturdy. Joysticks are smooth and easy to move.
I did get a case to help hold it after reading reviews and would say getting the case is definitely worth the price and makes it easier to hold.
Battery life seems decent enough, and charging speed is quick ish so definitely plus points.
I would say this is an excellent purchase- well worth the money. I would say research both the lite and the standard version and decided what suits your gaming most. You can get additional joy cons for the lite for multiplayer modes but you are limited to the small screen. This isnt an issue for me personally but for anyone purchasing for families, I would say the standard version is probably going to be your preference.
Looking forward to spend my time in lockdown playing this!
Perfect condition, no problems at all and came a lot earlier than expected!
I absolutely love it! It arrived in perfect condition and it works perfectly. The best handheld console ever.
This and Animal Crossing are getting me through the lockdown. Haven’t bought a handheld in years, but so happy I bought this. Great machine with great games.
I love it! Haven’t put it down since I got it!!
Amazing, fits so comfortably in your hands, great little gaming machine
Really easy to setup straight from the box and surprised me how comfortable the button config was too, as I’m not used to something as large as a Switch Lite.
Glad the Seller send it earlier first class, I’m really grateful. Should honestly help me pass the time in quarantine.
Fantastic console, really good for gaming on the go. However, a note of caution, if you have adult hands I’d recommend buying an asymmetric grip for this console for added comfort. Good for those with busy lives but still want to game on their lunch break or relax when you’re out and about. While 1st party titles remain expensive, 3rd party titles are here aplenty and are relatively cheap to buy (especially with numerous eshop sales). If you don’t care about linking it to your TV or the smaller screen but do care about portability then this console is for you, especially if you want a successor to the 3DS.
No damage to box or console and part numbers were identical great buy
Was purchased as a xmas present for my daughter. She was delighted! It’s a good size, thinner and lighter than a regular switch and arrived on time and we’ll packaged. The colour us nice and bright, reminding me of those foamy banana sweets!! Would recommend purchasing a screen protector too and case to keep safe when not in use.
I honestly love my switch to pieces. A lot of people are complaining that they break easily but mine has yet to, even with an excited little brother somehow getting ahold of it. The only downside is it is very easy to fill the storage BUT that is an easily fixable problem: just buy a SD card.
If you are looking for a more affordable switch, this is definitely recommended from me.
And If you are having issue with the battery dying too quick, it is most likely cause you have your volume on full and/or your screen brightness is on a high setting for a very long time. Let my friend borrow it and he played it for 3 hours straight on full volume and the highest brightness and then complained it asked him to charge it :/ it did well lasting that long though cause it was only 60% charged when he borrowed it.
Lovely portable console, just remember if you already have a Switch you have to pick which one’s going to be your main console.
Bought for my brother for Christmas 2019 and he loves it because he travels a lot and is ideal for him
Fantastic handheld console! This is a brilliant piece of technology designed for gaming on the go, note that this does not hook up to your tv, nor can you detach the sides. This is purely for handheld play. Would definitely recommend if you find yourself travelling often. Battery life is a good 5-6 hours, which I tested playing Zelda, the screen on the Switch lite is a tad brighter than the original switch, which is great because everything pops out a little more and the price is very appealing, considering just how insane some companies have managed to port games over to a smaller handheld system.
I recently bought this Nintendo Switch from Amazon & was very happy with Amazon amazing service, easy to order & fast delivery. Also very pleased with the great quality Nintendo Switch that my kids absolutely love & is enjoying playing, great fun for kids. Highly Recommended & definitely 5 Stars.
Great item made a fantastic Christmas present for my son.. Highly recommended to all
It’s really good and it’s fun for when I get bored.
Ordered this for my sons Xmas, came very quickly and in perfect condition- he loves it!
Compact and easy to carry about. Great graphics and sound for a small device. Hope more games will be available soon.
Son’s Christmas present and he is very happy with it. Cheerful colour and well made.
The controls and screen are good. The playing experience is great . Having an online subscription is great for playing with others. Great buy!
This is a great product my son had it for his birthday and he loves it.
Ideal for the kids, great product, easy to use for both my 8 and 10 year olds.
Only slight criticism is that it is on the expensive size given the amount of games release for the console.
Really nice colour was a little bit bigger than I was expecting it to be, good screen size
My son hasn’t put it down since Christmas, so it’s been a hit. Great fu
Great buy for my 3 and a half grandson who is very much into his gaming. Easy to set up and download games.
A very nice and good item my child loves it so much.
Great little game console ideal for taking away with us crystal clear scree
Purchased for the car journeys for my 4 year old and he loves it and so do my other 3 boys. Brilliant item and good price.
Bought this for my daughters Christmas present and I was so impressed I’m gona buy one for myself.
Wanted one since first seeing one on tv. I like it a lot but was a little annoyed that my screen has a dead pixel in it from the get go. Luckily my OCD isn’t that bad but for the money I would expect something like this to be caught back in the factory 4/5
Bought as a cheaper option to the Switch. Graphics are brilliant and a good range of games. Only downside the price for the games
Arrived in really good time, as well as coming in a very good box to store it in.
First time they said they had delivered but they hadn’t, very annoying as it was a gift for my little brother, HOWEVER it was sorted very quickly and send out, I received today and the smile on my brothers face and the massive hug he gave me was just great, (normally he gives me abuse lol ) the actual product he loves he has sat there playing it non stop.
I was extremely skeptical about buying a Switch List, especially since I wanted to use it as a companion for my tradiitonal Switch. However, after seeing many reviews on YouTube, and after realizing that I was mostly using my Switch while in mobility (train, plane, etc), I decided to give it a go. I am doing this reviews a few weeks after buying it. For now, I can say I am absolutely excited about this purchase and I have been playing _a lot_ with this. I just hope that Nintnedo releases some kind of update that makes save-sync a little bit painless.
I am highly scared about the joycon drift. So far I have played about 20 hours and did not notice anything at all. However, I bought the extra Amazon 2-year coverage: better safe than sorry. I will update this review in case I notice anything.
As an avid console collector I cannot recommend orzly products highly enough, they are well designed and fit like a glove,Im very particular about how I store them as some are quite valuable now”been 35 years collecting”so if your looking for a fantastic case with colors to match these are the best at this price point.
The first time I was studying abroad, I felt that sometimes it was really boring. I just searched this website. It is really a man’s paradise. It’s really good. The machine is brand new and the delivery is very fast. Buy it right away. I have been looking forward to the teacup for a long time, but it’s hard to pass.
After agonising over which colour to get I decided on the yellow simply due to how it appeared to complement the colour scheme of most Switch games. The grey was boring, and the turquoise looked interesting, but I think the yellow just looks so “Nintendo”. And I was right. Playing everything from Mariokart to Zelda, even to Hollow Knight’s dark blues, the yellow just makes the whole screen pop. I think the turquoise would actually contrast a little too much and perhaps be a little distracting. The yellow just exudes a happiness about it, and you feel great playing it! 🙂
It’s not loud, and actually quite a bit paler than it appears on the box.
I loved the idea of the Nintendo Switch – being able to have a portable gaming console that also docked to your TV. But there were several disadvantages to it: It was just too big to use as a personal pocket games console. It was fine for putting on a table and sharing with friends, but too large to stick in your pocket and go. It was also another ecosystem. Another set of games that you had to buy in adittion to Nintendo DS games which were truly portable.
But it was a good alround gaming platform and an ideal replacement for the Wii as a family TV-based console with occasional portable use eg on holiday.
Nothing could touch the DS consoles for portability though. Until now. It is a shame that the DS is on it’s way out. But for those that have made an investment in to the Switch ecosystem, the Switch Lite is excellent news. You get a portable gaming experience that is almost as portable as the DS, but with graphics and gameplay that is much better. But the real bonus is that now you only need to buy one set of games! When the next major game comes out you no longer need to buy one for the Switch and one for the DS, you just buy the one game and you can play it in the house on the Switch, or on the go on the Switch Lite. It’s about time Nintendo had one ecosystem of games and hardware. The Switch was a good attempt and to a certain extent, it works. But now you have the option of the Switch Lite for the true hand held mobile experience without replacing your titles.
As a console, I actually prefer it. I think the 720p screen looks more vivid on the 5.5″ Lite screen than it does on the 6.2″ Switch screen. The battery life is better. I actually like that the controls are fixed and not removable. They were a bit fiddly and flimsy on the Switch and the Lite is, afterall, a true portable gaming console. Rumble has been removed, but to be honest, it was pretty rubbish anyway so that is no loss. The gameplay and graphics are much better than anything the DS series could offer. So I think Nintendo have played a blinder here. If you are a casual gamer who games at home or socially, get the Switch. If you want something to play on your own, get the Switch Lite. If you already have a Switch in the house, get the Switch Lite and you can play the same games.
We now have a Switch hooked up to the family TV and both of my kids have a Switch Lite each. As long as they are prepared to share the game titles, they can all play their own thing in their own time. It’s a brilliant idea and a true pockatable replacement for the Nintendo DS.
BTW, not sure why each of the 3 colours show as seperate items.
I’m enjoying it so far. It’s a big improvement so far in terms of grip and how it can be held. It’s more portable, lighter and with the texture of the plastic, it makes it easier to hold.
The console runs smoothly and takes less time to power up in comparison, the colours are warm, in comparison too. Battery life is great. Connection to the Networking is smooth and there isn’t any difficulties in setting the console up.
Storage, it has a lot of space and the sound quality is amazing.
Haven’t had any drifting issues yet.
A fantastic little gaming gem.
The Switch Lite is smaller than the standard Switch, but packs in just as much fun. I can’t speak for the other colour options – but the Yellow version just POPS!
Contained in the box is a Switch Lite. A mains Charger (USB-C) and a bit of paper with warranty info on.
It has a hidden memory card slot to expand the digital memory for downloaded games. It takes a microSD card. But the console also has 32gb of internal storage.
Conpared to the standard Switch, the screen is noticably smaller – but still a touch-screen with the same resolution graphics.
There is no kickstand anymore – and it no longer docks/connects to a TV. The Switch Lite is all about gaming on the go.
It feels great in the hands and really reminds me of the original Game Boy in terms of the build quality and texture of the casing.
One thing it lacks is a case – you will NEED a case if you’re planning on playing with it anywhere but at home.
This is the hand held that I have been waiting for all my life.
It is the first true portable device to allow full console games to be played on the go without compromise.
It is more comfortable than the OG Switch and fits in a reasonable size pocket (see pic for size comparison it is smaller and lighter than you think). With the wealth of RPGs and great indie games this could be the Vita replacement gamers have been looking for. Add in the first party Nintendo titles and the library is unparalleled in the portable market.
However if you want table top mode – don’t buy it. If you want to play it as a hybrid – don’t buy it. If you want it on your tv – don’t buy it. In all those situations it isn’t for you. If you own a Switch already, this is an extravagance and you don’t need it, whether you want one for portable play will likely depend on your spare cash.
If you want a premium handheld alone then this is the way to go.
The slight negatives are that the battery life is only a very marginal improvement. If they could have squeezed another half hour out of it that would have been magic. It also has had no improvement in the wifi and download speeds (which seem to max out at 60mbps despite having a much faster connection) and the spectre of joy-con drift still hangs over this machine and Nintendo has failed to address this which may worry some.
Definitely recommended but with a couple of caveats and some definite exceptions.
Absolutely loving this device – after a couple years of stagnant games on the PS4, my switch has made me enjoy gaming again. The variety of indie titles on the system is excellent – in the first day I picked up 4 games for less than 40, with a lot of originality in each. Stardew valley in particular feels made for this system. The switch lite battery has lasted about 5 hours so far, screen and size of the device both really impressive. Compared to the slightly rickety feel of an original, I have to say I think this new model is far more impressive in terms of built quality and sturdiness. If you’ve been holding out for a while and are getting tired of the games available on your PS4/xbone, give this system a try. There are at time of writing about 2400 games available for the switch – it’s not all mario and Zelda! Take the plunge and you may well rediscover the joys of gaming again 🙂
Oh man I love this size of the Switch!
I always felt the OG Switch was a bit too big for long periods of handheld gaming, which is how I play it 99% of the time. Also never liked the joycon flex feel on either side of the console. When you get a bit excited and tense while playing it felt like I would snap the controllers out ha.
Honestly the hate for this for not having a TV out is not an issue for me, the lack of HD rumble is also not an issue. Unless the game I’m playing required rumble feedback as part of the game mechanics I’m not at all bothered. Many handheld consoles in the past managed without rumble.
The console is well built and doesn’t feel cheap. The screen is nice and clear, it appears a little brighter than my OG Switch when both are at the same brightness setting. But screens do differ from one to another. No brightness sensor? Don’t care, I always manually adjust that myself anyway.
Buttons! Another thing I don’t like on the OG Switch is the ABXY and the dpad buttons. Personally prefer the feel of a rubber pad squish, the Switch Lites ABXY, dpad, ZL and ZR all have a soft bump that feels similar to the buttons and dpad on a DS Lite. Oddly the L and R buttons are not the same feel as the ZL and ZR, but the same clicky feel as on the OG Switch. Perhaps there’s not enough space under there for a rubber pad?
I personally would put this up there with the original PSP and DS Lite as my favourite handhelds to date so far. It is really down to personal preference but the Switch Lites size fits perfect for me.
If you don’t care for TV out, rumble, or detachable controllers to play with friends because you’re a lone gamer like myself, I would recommend this over the non-Lite model. It’s also cheaper and for the price difference you can pick up an extra game or two!
Bought one day one (I already have a original switch from launch) and I have to say this device is fantastic. It’s lighter and the design is beautiful. I’ve played Assassin Creed III on this device and the graphics look crisper due to a smaller screen (looks less pixelated). Hard to believe you can play triple A games on such a small device really but hey it does. Also I feel the battery is a lot better than my original switch which is also a plus and the colour ( yellow) is fantastic. The device just feels more top notched they obviously put a lot of effort in this device. I would totally recommend to young and old ( I’m 27). I would say if you have a old model switch already like I do then go for it (this will be my personal switch) if you however have bought the new switch (2019 better battery model) then I would say don’t get this but hey it’s up to you and your family. I’m overall pleased with this device and can’t believe how lite ( 😛 ) it is.
love everything about it fimally a decent handheld gaming device
Great for me as i found the normal Switch too heavy after a while and i didnt want to play it on the tv. This Lite version has the same layout but is extremely light in weight, just what i wanted.
Well, I’ve played this for a few hours on Mario Odyssey and I love the size and compactness of this console. It’s also much lighter and doesn’t heat up as much as my docked Switch, which I appreciate.
The motion still works on the Switch Lite and games don’t recognise the difference when giving you control instructions.
The touch screen works like a dream too.
You don’t lose too much in noticeable size either I found. In fact I think it feels lighter, more compact and easier to hold.
No drifting issues with the joy keys.
The yellow is a nice individual touch too.
I think this console will suit casual gamers more, children whom are staring out on consoles as well.
It still feels like a sturdy console too.
A great way for gaming on the go without the added accessories to take with you.
I love it and think this is one great console and well worth the money.
Recommended indeed!
Update: 5th January 2020.
Thought I would update this review because a significant amount of time has passed.
Well a few people have moaned about Roaming joy-cons and I still have haven’t had an issue.
I also now own a black Switch Lite (One for me and my son) and no issues on either.
I’d say just be gentle with them. I also think the issue is being overplayed by some, but that is opinion and not fact.
End of the day, I think there will be more Switch Lites without problems compared to the latter.
Thanks for reading.
Update…Again! 15th May 2020.
Well, still no issue with the joy-cons on this model.
Still seems to be playing fine.
It seems like a small, small percentage have the drift, but I’m happy to say mine hasn’t…the likelihood of you getting a drifting joy can is very slim.
I’d say just be gentle and they should be fine.
Also, if the joy-cons do roam then please contact Nintendo.
The last time I checked they were fixing roaming joy cons for free!
So if you’re reading this and you don’t have a shop warranty or they’re being difficult then please, please get in touch with Nintendo!

Still no issues with the joy cons and they still work fine. I think it’s all luck of the draw. But it’s a small percentage that maybe effected if any.
