First class electric chainsaw
Light and easy to use
Powerful just keep chain reservoir topped up
Overall a good buy and well priced
Good little chainsaw, depending on the nature of work you’re asking it to do.
Little weak on semi seasoned logs.
I have an old petrol that my dear old Dad gave me, but it wasn’t doing a great job lately, so I took a chance on one of these and I have tosay it’s absolutely brilliant. Easy to use, quick to but together and even a wee bit quieter than the petrol chainsaw
Bought for slicing up logs and although a wee bit heavy, its easy to use. Brake comes on instantly so gives this novice confidence. Doesnt come with oil and I couldnt see the oil level through the window. I bought oil with the saw. Powerful and not too noisy.
Excellent chainsaw very powerful light and comfortable to use with nice long cable
Works really well, excellent value for money. Lightweight. Easy to set up. Tackles quite challenging cuts very well. If you are near an electric plug and have an extension cable I would recommend this over the very heavy petrol chainsaws. It is much less strain on the muscles and for most mid-sized gardens with trees and bushes it will do all that is required. I was very impressed, especially as I was a complete novice.
Was terrified of assembling it but it is a straight forward process. Does not come with the lubricating oil so get yourself a litre from Oregon or use a suitable cooking vegetable oil that does not get affected by high or low temperatures you will use in.
One of few suitable ones is rapeseed/canola oil. Cheaper option, too. However do not use just any cooking oli as they will ruin your chainsaw beyond any repair.
Great piece of machinery. Easy assembling and use. Be safe, use protective gear available.
I would recommend this chainsaw and will use it again if needed.
Does everything it’s supposed to do well gets through hard rotten soft wood without any issues blade still as sharp after cutting for a couple of hours
Yes the picture is correct 5 ton of wood to process and I bought this rather than use my Makita Battery saw which is excellent for field work. This just keeps going and doing the job. It is not the quality of the Makita but still smooth and low vibration.
I dont often leave reviews, But having struggled yet again to get my petrol Still chainsaw to start and stay running and operational , I thought I would try this what could go wrong! If you have used a chainsaw before set up is a doddle and tensioning a breeze. Yes you have a trailing electric lead so extra careful but the ease of use was able to cut (9-10) inch logs and fell ash tree easily and safely.
3 years warranty out the box ! No servicing , no fuel to mix , no fumes , Was so impressed we have purchased another so the wife can get in on the action.Note Domestic garden use.
Worked really well for around 6 hours in total, then nothing, change the fuse checked cable etc but nothing.
Retuned the saw, do I buy the same saw?
Some 2 weeks later, yes I purchased the same saw, been working for around 10+ hours now.
Have to say great saw, not had to sharpen the chain yet!
I would definitely recommend this saw, saves the hard work of a petrol machines if near a power supply.
Substantial kit. Easy to rig up and oil. Blade teeth almost too sharp for comfort!
Well balanced when working, and the great feature is the instant stop brake.
GVFM.
We bought this for working through 2 large trunks of dead tree that had been taken down when our battery operated chain saw just wasn’t up to the task. It was amazing. Had loads of power and made light work of the job. Husband was really impressed. It worked through thick pieces of wood.
I was very scared to use a chain saw of any kind, but this makes me feel so safe, easy to hold, start, stops instantly, hardly any kickback. Make sure you use all the Correct ppe Ann can oil and chain tension Regularly.
Made light work of decking planks, 3 Yr warranty, easy to assemble, chain stopped when power stopped, recommended
Once I got the knack of getting the chain on the guide bar and drive sprocket assembly became simple.
Kick back lever a bit plasticky but stopping when button released excellent
Oil filling easy but not so easy to see oil level through widow
Chain tensioning system better than Bosch
As it’s my third saw of different makes for the money it’s highly recommended but be careful and concentrate it’s still the most dangerous tool you’ll probably ever own!!!!
I bought this saw as I’d ventured into the realms of log burners. It cut perfectly all the none processed logs I had. Both my son and I used it for a couple of days for around an hour at a time. Towards the end of our use however we found the chain would stop rotating whilst the motor carried on. I spoke directly to Oregon about this and they said that on my saw the chain was excessively sensitive. Because of this they sent me a new saw. The saws cut perfectly and the after sales service is excellent.
Bought with a little hesitation as I’ve always used uncorded saws before, but I am not disappointed! It packs a punch and goes like a hot knife through butter in even the thickest, hardest logs. Of course, you have to be careful with ensuring the power cable is out of the way, but it’s no hardship. It has a longer blade which also makes the work easier. I’ve tried pushing it to its limits and it stands up to the toughest job. Very impressive, and would definitely recommend buying this over a cordless electric.
Great for home and personal use. For its price and power I was impressed.
I’m so glad I stopped struggling with petrol. This is strong enough to do everything I need. It’s a proper chainsaw but without the fuss – though still needs chain oil.
I’ve used electric chainsaws by Bosch, Black and Decker and Makita but this model by Oregon is the simplest and most reliable of them all. The chainsaw tightening mechanism is the most effective I’ve used and allows you to tighten the chain, if needed, by just turning the ratchet. After six months of intermittent, and sometimes heavy, use there have been no problems at all, unlike all the other models.
I’ve cut down trees up to 50 cm across with it, and converted them into logs for firewood. I wish I’d got one of these earlier – it would have saved a lot of hassle.
I have used petrol chainsaws for over 50 years and was recommended at 77 years old to get an electric saw to save all the drama of starting a petrol one. I never thought I’d say it but After using this Oregon 2400W saw I’d never go back to petrol again. Brilliant bit of kit.
Works well, cuts through the logs with ease . Good value for money
I have only used this machine sporadically on timber less than 6 inches dia. Within 18 months the chainsaw is failing to operate. I have contacted the makers explaining in detail the problem, but have yet to receive a reply. Nowhere in my purchase from Amazon can I find any indication of length of guarantee, also, surprisingly, no instruction came with the machine that might enable me to determine why the machine is failing to operate?

Was unsure about going to an electric chainsaw, but for the price, reduced in prime day, and being Oregon thought it was worth a go for a few large logs I had that needed cutting down for splitting.
Easy to assemble, easy to add oil and cutting through hard wood pieces no problem done about 60 cuts without any issues
I have both a petrol chainsaw and now the Oregon electric chainsaw, not forgetting health and safety there’s a few checks to do on the saw and then it’s plug in and go. It’s very convenient for the person who has some logs to do in the back yard or big branches in the garden. Not so noisy as a petrol saw so less disturbance for near neighbours. Very pleased and would recommend.
Great product. Powerful, easy to use, gets the job done. But, for larger or more heavy duty work I’ll stick with my 2 stroke still. Use this for logs and it works great. Cuts with ease, little bit heavy on the oil, something to watch. Also it’s not the easiest to pour in, I’ve found turning the chainsaw on its side best.
This is a very good quality chain saw. Only problem we had was the chain oil leaking after use. Got in touch with Oregon and got it sorted. Good customer service.
Very pleased with purchase, easy assemble, quite to use, so you won’t upset the neighbours, I cut up a tree that fell into garden, would recommend for first time use
I’m a chainsaw newbie this being my first purchase. I was a little daunted by some of the feedback comments but after reading instructions and watching a couple of video reviews I found the assembly a lot easier than I thought it would be. Ensuring the tensioner was completely let off and spending a bit of time untangling the chain out of the packet, I was able to assemble and fit the bar and chain with no problems. I have used the chainsaw for a few hours now cutting logs and find it has adequate power and whilst not light is certainly comfortable using for an hour or two at a time. I would recommend this product.
Excellent quality Would buy again Outstanding service 5 Stars Thank you

After making enquiries it appeared cheaper to buy this electric chainsaw than to hire a petrol one for the day from my local hire shops, and I can keep this electric one for friends and family to use in the future. I purchased the Chainsaw and the recommended oil, as it needs oil before use (see instructions), and both items arrived on time. Obviously I read the instructions first and in April 2022 my page 15 says an “important” rubber O-Ring must be round the pin on the tensioner “before use”. it also says on page 28 you should frequently rotate the guide bar to prevent uneven wear. Both these instructions require undoing a Philips screw. However.. when I tried the screw was locked in tight and when I exerted extra pressure the cross head screw stripped. After locating the customer service number a very helpful operator said this issue is known about, apparently the screw used to vibrate loose with use so its now FIXED in, and you don’t need to access the O-Ring, but the instruction manual has not been updated, and no information sheet has been attached for new customers. I was annoyed I wasted that time following their faulty instructions, but once I got the answer the rest of the assembly was easy, just follow the instructions carefully. And the chainsaw was easy to use and worked well on some thick tree trunks that were within the limits of this blade, but possibly better for branches, not as powerful as a petrol chainsaw, but good for the garden. Keep an eye on the oil reservoir window as it seems to use oil quicker than a petrol chainsaw, and needs topping up, but that’s easy.
Fantastic saw to use, instant stop when trigger released gets hot quickly when used at lo
Very good chainsaw saved me lots of money cutting a tree dow
I found assembly relatively straight forward and having already bought the oil needed (thank you other reviewers) I was blasting through some massive logs in no time. No log too tough and the chainsaw seemed well within its abilities. And now I have a chainsaw my manliness score has gone to 1000% !
25m tree fell down in my garden and I had to acquire tool to get it sorted out. Bought B&Q chinese elecric chainsaw. Too weak, returned. Bought quite good petrol chainsaw on Amazon (not Stihl). Buying and mixing petrol and oil, a lot of hassle and a mess. And actually petrol chainsaw has died after first day. I tried everything to fix it including asking my woodworker friend. Returned.
Finally I bought this. Best chainsaw I ever had. Cuts everything. Very powerful, stronger than both petrol chainsaws and other electric ones I had. Great product. If you can work statically with electric wired chainsaw, like in your garden, buy this one!
This is the Badger to buy, Just make sure you have plenty of tree`s cause boy can it render them down !
Very Good Purchase !
This is a great saw. I have used it for 2 summers to cut overgrown trees, over 1000 logs. Looking at the review by DelSmith 12 Feb. 2022, “Doesn’t start!”, there are 2 issues. First you should NOT fully assemble the saw and try to start it. The instructions clearly say to fill the oil tank and then run the saw to check that oil comes out of the rectangular oil exit slot on the saw body BEFORE you fit the bar and chain. This is to prime the oil pump and avoid damage resulting from running a dry chain. Secondly there is an emergency kick-back brake, operated by the big black paddle in front of the horizontal handle, which must be pushed towards the handle to be in the start position. Otherwise the saw will not start. This can also be a reason for failure to start if the brake is accidently pushed forward during normal working The instructions are detailed and take a bit of careful reading if new to chainsaws.
Easy to assemble and use. The safety guard is really useful. Push it forward to deactivate the saw and pull it back when you’re ready to go again. I easily cut 2 trees down and cut them into easy to manage logs without any difficulty.
a great saw fpr price paid cut through our 30 foot palm trees a trea
I’m impressed! I have owned a chainsaw (from a well-known manufacturer) for a few years but, for what I consider to be a design fault, I started having problems with the tensioner resulting in the chain whipping off the bar when in use. Not a pleasant experience! I had considered buying the same make again, but I noticed that the Oregon was only 13 dearer. What a lot you get for the extra cash.
The whole unit feels more solidly built and although a little heavier than my old one, it gave me more confidence to use. With the old one I had to periodically adjust the tensioner while in use but, in one afternoon session, I have felled a 14+ metre (45 feet) high dead tree, cut it into fire sized logs and cut a large quantity of dried timber into logs with only adjusting it slightly, once. Also, the saw appeared to cut as well when I’d finished as it did when I started. Another surprise advantage is that it did not collect many shavings within the sprocket chamber and it was easy to brush clean after use.
Please note, I have had the unit for less than a week, but I have certainly put it through its paces, and I feel I can recommend it.
The good:
– Plenty of torque
– Good chain speed
– Very easy to put together
– Fairly light and easy to handle
– Easy to clean and maintain
– Replacement chains are reasonably priced and easy to source as Oregon have a comprehensive line of these and plenty of info on their website about which options you have (comes with an M-VXL-X chain, I put on a regular VXL on replacement as this was a listed option, prefer this chain)
– no tool adjustment is very easy to use, and for stripping down for cleaning and checking lubrication holes are clear etc.
– (niche) chain has the same pitch and cut depth etc as my other saw, which means my Stilh all-in-one sharpener works for this one as well
The bad
– I don’t particularly like the chain brake lever, it’s a bit plasticy and hinged only on one side, which reduces my confidence that it would trigger on kick back; I’d worry that it would twist rather than cleanly snap into place.
– The bar/chain option as stock is quite a lightweight one for the rated power/speed – but when kept sharp has given no problems with whatever has been asked of it.
– Not sure this is a bad thing or something to be reassured by, but it seemed a bit thirsty on oil. I was checking oil levels every 15 minutes or so when cutting hardwood.
For the price and given that I have little need to use it more than a few meters from the house, it’s a hard to argue that a petrol saw would be better, with the noise, warm up time, up-front and servicing costs, fuel storage, cleaning and weight.
If it doesn’t work the option is “did I switch it on”, rather than “maybe i got some muck in with the fuel, does it need new spark plug” etc.
Overall it’s done everything I’ve asked of it so far, very easy to use and it’s incredibly convenient.
Excellent chainsaw, very powerful , easy to assemble and use,, so far so good,, outperforms my 16 inch Stihl and a lot less hassle. If I could suggest a couple of improvements,,oil filler is @ an awkward angle to fill and can cause spillage,,, make flex cable a bright color so it can be seen easier ( instead of black ), very pleased so far 🙂
will try to update have done some basic milling with it the sliding bar type , as well as cutting down trees and some , pruning or heavy pruning 3 or 4 ins branches and bit bigger , have a 16 ins electric still works well from a few years back to compare, the bar on the oregon appears a bit longer. so so far faultless watch your oil if you go milling it fills up inside tip off on some of the stuff on the net the cs1500 is ok but need to check your bar oil is getting where it should so cs1400 looks very similar without the sharpener. I have had no lubrication bar issues so far. got a ripping chain for the mill and well had to do a lot of tipping to get in the cut but that probley me not the chainsaw , chain ,, that said did some work that day so solid chainsaw can run for a while without overheating made it work much harder then on tree cutting down.
Overall a good tool, and cannot fault it. Kick back suppression could be a little better, but that would only benefit the semi skilled user. (saying that, do not use a chain saw unless you have bee trained to use it)
A chain saw is one of the most lethal DIY tools in the wrong hands.
This saw has a narrow chain width and considerable power so can cut through logs with exceptional speed.
Hard or soft wood does not deter it, although I have not tried to cut Aluminium pipes with it as it implies in the advert.
Brilliant tool I used it for trimming conifers including thick trunks it was fantastic. The immediate stop when releasing the trigger was fantastic
Was a bit dubious about the power this would have versus a petrol chainsaw. Shouldn’t have worried. Cut through large logs easily, chain easy to adjust and oil doesn’t fling everywhere like it did with our petrol chainsaw. Bought this as starting a petrol one was becoming a challenge. Really like the fact that blade stops instantly. Wish we had bought ages ago!
Small garden bushes and small trees good for. Nice ease of use and safety features good.
First time I purchased an electric chainsaw, absolutely brilliant all round saw, three trees later and still as sharp as a razo
Very easy to assemble. Cuts great. One of the best saws around
Its a very good chain saw. Quite heavy but solid.
Does everything I need around the garden.
My only issue is that I think the blade blunts quickly.
Absolutely brilliant chainsaw well worth the money cuts easily through quite large logs buy this product you won’t be disappointed
