Bought this for my 5 yr old son for Christmas. I wanted to write a review for those confused (like I was) about whether the reflector is included in the kit. The reflector IS included and was in the Kit I bought Dec 2022. Once we start using it on Christmas day I can provide a more detailed review about the functionality of the product. But for now, rest assured the reflector is there.
My Littles really enjoy the osmo set for their tables. The learning possibilities are endless and the kids will actually sit and play (while learning) for a good amount of time!

First, there was a ton of struggle during set up. I have a 12.9″ iPad Pro and had to buy the additional adapter, not a big deal but I didn’t realize it when I bought the Osmo kit.
Next, the story time game did not want to work. It took a lot of finesse to get it going but then it worked well.
It is fun but a bit limited for the low end of the age spectrum (3y.o), however, the bigger kids can get a bit more fun out of it but it doesn’t have a ton of replayability for them. This is only a review of the Osmo and the Starter Kit for young kids though so it makes sense that big kids would be bored.
My daughter enjoys these 'games' on her IPAD. I think it is an excellent learning tool.

So glad I bought this, my son loves it! I recommend this for anyone who is thinking about getting it. I was on the fence for a while but I am so glad that I went a head and got it. Highly recommend!

My grandson really likes playing with this and I can already see the improvement in his understanding of the concepts they are trying to teach. His mom enjoys helping him without doing it for him which takes patience but is rewarding.

Bought for grandsons 3rd birthday. Absolutely loves it. He enjoys the interactive games.
Kept our grandson occupied for a good couple of hours.
If you buy for a fire tablet you have to buy a adapter separately
Great game for teaching kids of all ages. But I suggest if you buy it for a fire tablet you go ahead and buy an adapter.
It does not come with the original package. It is not for an iPad it is only for a fire table

Simple but really clever and gives a lot of fun. My youngest (4) loves it. The older two occasionally play it with him. He’s fascinated. Thinks the dude actually lives in his tablet and takes the drawings in. Great learning aid for preschoolers.
Be ready to play with the mirror, if you put it on against the iPAD it won’t work, you just have to pull it up a little to get the mirror in the right place. Then it’s perfect. Kids love creating shapes.

This starter kit is fabulous! I purchased for my 4 year old and he loves it! Best part is he can do it all on his own I don't need to hover over him to supervise.

I’ve been having fun setting this up for my 6 year old grandson for Christmas. We are using an older IPad and hope it continues to work. Osmo world is a bit hard to get to k ow but he will probably breeze through it!

I bought this package for my daughter. She is almost three. As a parent, I feel it is a good design. I never let my daughter play with iPad before but I think it is good place to start. My daughter likes some of the games. But I do expecting more considering its price.

Ottimo
Consigliato!
I got these on sale and my daughter loves playing with it. Only problem I had was when Osmo has new games for the month (this month was Halloween themed), you have to change your iPad setting to US to get the game.

My 2 and 5 year olds love this. Imaginative yet educational. The price is a bit steep but it one of those things you will use again and again, and for other children.
The ABC's game is a little fast for my 3 year old but she did just turn 3. My daughter loves playing with it but the game requires me to help her every step of the way and she is a pretty fast learner. Works well on the tablet and easy to navigate. I didn't realize I would have to download an app for each individual game but that's not an issue. We still have yet to open other games, we're just opening and finishing them one at a time. Thank you!

3 Year Old Loves it!
My 3 year old is pretty into Ed Tech, and loves Osmo. Some of the tasks are a bit difficult (i.e. building the letters), but they basically just find a way to play with it that is fun, and some of the tasks are a perfect difficulty level.
Main complaint is you can’t buy a lot of the extra things as “separates” – almost everything comes in a kit somehow. Would love to just add the creativity set and pad, for example, but from what I can tell it’s only sold as part of a set. Same with the math numbers. Wish I could just add-on the pieces I want and need!
I can't believe how cool this is! Perfect for all ages
I got this educational toy for my niece and nephews to use when they visit, and I’ve been really impressed with how cool this is so far! I’d never heard of Osmo before and was a bit skeptical about the price, but once we’d actually played with it I realised how smart it is and the range of games you can get makes it so worth it and makes the possibilities endless in my opinion – it will last many years and many ages!
Pros:
* Good starter set: comes with accessories you need for a few of the games (we’ve used Osmo World and Osmo Squiggle Magic) and the stand for the ipad itself
* Smart design: being a tech-nerd, I think the design is really clever. The top has a mirror so the front camera faces down on the floor… it’s such as simple but great idea. You follow the instructions and put accessories infront of the stand and as if by magic, poof, it appears on the screen!
* Fun games for a range of ages: both my 2 year old nephew and even my 7 year old niece found these games fun. My nephew mainly liked watching me play and my niece loved matching the clothes and painting them on Osmo World. We made smiley faces and robots with the squiggles and played dress-up for ages
* Fairly easy to set-up: you have to register your Osmo product with your email, and it makes you input a code and then you can install the 6 games (it did however ask for the code loads of times throughout this process which was a bit annoying)
* Sturdy stand: luckily, given the nature of my nephew, the stand holds the ipad nice and securely (it would topple with force mind you)
* Will last as your child ages: you can get lots (and I mean it… There’s so many) of games for the stand so you can keep adapting this to your child as they grow and get games more suitable for their age and development. It will cost but they are less than the stand costs itself
Cons:
* No storage case for main stand: it would have been nice to have some sort of protection as we know how kids don’t look after things! The official case is quite expensive and I’d definitely want to invest in it to keep this all together and safe. For now I’m storing it all in the box
So my general take-away from this product is extremely positive as an auntie and parent. It is quite expensive but to be honest I would definitely say it’s justified due to the fact you can keep adding to your game collection and it’s a sort of lifelong toy for them as they learn. There’s even games for coding, drawing… so much, it’s pretty mind-boggling! It’s great for sensory play, for learning shapes, colours, reading and problem-solving… it will definitely support key skills during school years.
I’m going to start my little girl on it when she’s old enough to hone her skills and aid her development as soon as possible as I think she’s going to be a little genius. In the meantime it’s an amazing tool to keep any visiting children busy. I’d really recommend it for anyone who appreciates teaching and learning with technology, which is the way most kids are being taught now in this era. It’s extremely clever and I appreciate it on many levels. Fantastic!
A great all in one educational kit.
This Osmo little genius starter kit is made to be used on a fire tablet, which is not included and is a really educational kit full of games for kids. There is a lot included, like the base for the tablet, certain costume pieces stickers, and rings.
There are 6 games that are really educational and great for small kids. There are also Maths games included which are good to start teaching the little ones about numbers. As well as being educational, they are also fun and attention-catching for the children so they stay attached to them whcih is god.
Overall, it may seem a bit on the expensiveve side but it is really good quality and very educational for children so I highly recommend it.
Great product for use of technology in play and learn for preschoolers. My little oneoves the use of stories and the guided puzzles and putting bits and pieces to re produce the model or play along. Perfect find for home-schooling and adding bit of fun in learning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and educational learning tool
This is a great way to make screen time educational. We’ve struggled with home learning and have used this kit as a tool to spark some interest in learning with our son. He’s taken well to it and he enjoys the games and they feel very much like games rather than that he’s ‘learning’ something.
A great game
This is such a great game. All four of our children love it! They love making their own objects and creatures etc out of the rubber shapes and they love making different stories with the characters. Would recommend!
Great product for learning. My autistic son has trouble focusing for anything school related. Will use this for about an hour before taking a break. Fire tablet set requires a reflector adapter. Totally recommend just make sure you buy adapter if needed. Comes with everything in images

A Great Learning Tool!
We bought the Osmo Little Genius Starter Kit for our preschooler (almost kindergartner) and he LOVES it!
It’s a great tool for learning letter recognition, letter sounds, spelling, and math!
The Osmo character is adorable and encouraging.
I love that we can check our son’s progress any time with the parent app.
The best part is, our little guy thinks he’s just playing a game!
Great preschool program. Even I was pretty entertained.
(Tried to upload a video but couldn’t. )
It’s a pretty great little program. Takes some getting used to with the little one, but once she got the hang of it she just took off!
And I love that they have different programs for different ages and stages. They also have games and art programs. My 4 year old has almost all of the programs that were age and ability appropriate for her (: thanks for making a great program.
I’ve worked in schools and seen Osmo products is use for years, and I absolutely love them. I was very excited when I saw they made one for younger kids, so I immediately bought this when I found it.
Pros:
Easy to set up and use, both for kids and adults
Fun and engaging characters that kids like
Sturdy pieces and storage containers
Good variety of activities, both in terms of fun and from an educational standpoint
Cons:
Very young kids probably can’t do these activities independently. I got this for my daughter when she was two and a half. She already knew all of her letters and numbers, but really couldn’t make the shapes out of the sticks, even with the detailed instructions from the character. She’s just turned three. Even though she’s improved, I still need to sit and help her.
The story game is more manageable for her right now, but there are so many pieces with so many little details that she gets lost looking for the right thing. It’s a great activity and I love what it’s trying to teach her, but she’s just not quite there yet.
Bottom line:
Little ones need help, but I definitely think it’s worth it in the long run.
By far this is the only thing that my son really loves to do during school hours he is a active 4 yr old and loves his one on one time with his shapes number and making stories with the littler person that they send in the kit. I am going to purchase more things to go with this OSMO. You have to invest in your children's education if they are home with you every single day. This is not easy on some of us parents but its worth every single dollar.

Great educational tool
Good variety of games, quality materials.
Easy to register and track progress.
Simply the best electronic educational tool/app available if you have an iPad or kindle tablet.
Daughter loves and enjoys her time while playing it.
so you buy this thing as it says it is for fire tablet thinking it has everything to work with one and then find out after it arrives you need another adaptor for the adaptor to make it work for another $10 plus tax and shipping. It does not fit over the protective shell that comes with the kids fire tablet so you have to remove it, then place the reflector and after trying one game realize something is not working and that you need another orange reflector adaptor for the red camera reflector adaptor. I managed after fiddling with it that the red adaptor needs to sit higher to make it work. So i added a pencil between the tablet and the red camera reflector to keep things in place. Stupid this adaptor was not included in the box and the documentation is poor to understand that you need to buy something else thinking you already have everything as it says this is for a fire tablet. Not User friendly in this manner and you still have registration bs (emails and codes) to deal with. I doubt my child's 88 year old grand pa can figure this setup out even though he is a mechanical engineer with a master degree. This should be simple out of the box thing for 4 year olds not needing to look for extra adaptors and playing with email and codes.

Our 4 year old & 6 year old love this! It took a while to get it downloaded on the kindle fire as it didn’t come with much instruction.
Pros: It is very interactive and uses a mirror to project what your child places on the mat. Love the settings to adjust the difficulty level!
Cons: I do not like having to install the learning games under the parent profile. I wish we could install it under the kids so they are not logged onto my parent profile where they could accidentally purchase something. There might be a way to change this, I haven’t found it yet.
We purchased this as a Christmas gift for our 3 and 5 year old granddaughters. With COVID our daughter has been home schooling them the entire school year. The 5 year old sat at the dining room table for over 2 hours until her Mom made her take a break on Christmas day. It is easy enough for her to do on her own and has engaged her to the point that she is asking often to be allowed to play with it. We bought several other Osmos add on's for them to use with the starter kit.

In the setup for the 8th generation Fire tablet (newest tablet) it asks if you have a reflection adapter (yellow piece for top of Osmo) it does not work without this. Very disappointing. I think it should clearly list this in the product description or come with an option to buy this version/pkg bc it cannot work without it. My daughter was so excited to play with it, now we have to wait until we have this piece.

Very fun. Recommend!
Great product! I had some initial reservations based on mixed reviews and the overall cost of the system. I decided to try it out and I am glad I did.
We had an initial issue getting the tablet to “see” the play mat but since then it has been non-stop fun! My daughter has only played 4 of the 6 apps so far and she loves them. The mixture of hands-on learning and technology is very well balanced. I like that my daughter can practice problem-solving while also being creative. I would recommend to anyone with preschool-age children.
We bought Osmo Little Genius starter kit for our 4-6 year old. This lit up our little one’s face on Christmas day and I have to say it’s literally the favorite (educational) “toy” for all our boys. They have not put this down and they are loving explorings and creating. We are able to hear our sons reiterate what is being taught and also working together to solve the Newton bounce games.
I would like to say that we took the time to set up everything prior to wrapping this gift and it made their first experience with Osmo seamless. We recommend doing this for your kids as well so that play can happen straight out of the box.
An amazing product, and this kit is worth every penny because there’s so much to do and so much to add on. We will be purchasing all add one in the coming months!
Got it from Amazon Warehouse Deals
Came all complete as new! Excellent Value for Money.
It’s going to be a birthday present so the child hasn’t used it, but we have another Osmo for iPad so we know it’s a good learning tool.
5.0 out of 5 stars Involving and educational
The three year old has been sent back from nursery for the second time and this has really come into its own.
We can generally get him involved with this which means we can get on with some work. Actually we quite enjoy it as well!
We are using it on a Kindle Fire and it was easy to set up.
Harry loves it!
Osmo is an interactive toy that uses innovative technology to bring physical toys into the digital world. To make it work you first download the app onto your tablet. Then place the tablet onto the Osmo stand then sit the red reflector over your tablets camera. Now my son Harry can make physical objects appear as fun content on our tablets screen.
You get two accessories boxes which contain 38 silicone sticks and rings (BPA free & dishwasher safe), and the other contains 19 costume pieces on double sided card. All the pieces are brightly printed and very good quality.
Within the app you need to download each of the four games that are included. Harry’s favourite is the Squiggle Magic game which took him through a series of challenges that ask him to create patterns that appeared on the screen. Harry needed a little help at first arranging the physical objects to match the ones on the screen, but after a few of the exercises he soon managed to do it by himself. He is really fascinated with this game and he was so excited to see his robot appear on screen!
Harry really enjoyed the Little Genius Starter kit. It is clear to see him learning whilst playing with the kit. Despite Harry being at the lower end of the age range he still enjoyed it and was able to understand all the games within the app. The great thing about this set is that it is expandable and you can add more games and add ons as your kids grow older.
This would make a fantastic Christmas present and is highly recommended.
Fun and engaging. My toddler loves the games, especially the Stories and Costumes. Keeps him entertained long enough for me to complete a couple of conference calls.
He doesn’t get to play too often- maybe an hour or two per week. He’s already completed all of the stories in the game and finished the numbers game- my point being, I expected the content to be a bit more… expansive.
Some of the problem solving components are a bit strange, too. One story has the kid figure out how to clean cobwebs off a chair. We tried all of the options until it suggested the crown… because it glitters. Not super logical.
The set up is weird, too. Each game is its own app, and it’s not abundantly clear which app goes with which set. I’m still not sure I have all of them downloaded.
Overall, it’s better than video games and provides good content. The numbers and letters and shapes apps are cool and definitely educational. Occasionally glitchy, but my kid loves it.
Amazing device for kids to interact with the Ipad. Got it mainly for my 3 year old but my 7 year old loves to play with it also. Super easy to use. Just need to down load apps on your ipad.

Excellent, but check compatibility - at time of writing only works with gens 7-9 of Fire tablets
Osmo is rather wonderful — an interactive educational toy that bridges the gap between real world and screens — and something with which it’s amazingly easy to get children involved. Where there are screens, there are kids queuing! The kit is nice and sturdy and consists of: a base unit to dock the tablet into; a reflector that clips on top of the tablet; two boxes of pieces to support 6 game types (Squiggle, ABCs, Costume Party, Shape Builder, Counting Town, and Stories); and a mat for putting pieces on to interact with the tablet.
The plastic base is very solid and sturdy and not prone to tipping over, even when excited pre-schoolers start poking at the screen! To use the system you do need to remove tablets from any cases before fitting the base and reflector. This Little Genius Starter Kit is compatible with generation 7-9 versions of Fire tablets, but at the time of writing (nearly two months after release) this has not been made compatible with the 2020 Fire releases. The base systems are available for iPad and Fire, but are not interchangeable between device types. My older nephews already had an iPad based Genius set, but could only use it with the tablets belonging to grown up family members. This Fire platform starter set unlocks using their own tablets to play.
My youngest nephew is a bit below the recommended age level for this and some of the games are things that he will need to grow into, but he’s delighted to be able to sit with a grown-up and use the dressing up-based Costume Party and Stories — seeing the clothes he’s putting on characters on the play board appear in the on screen animations — replicating something he’s seen his older brothers do with their iPad-based version. From an adult point of view, it’s a bit less stressful to use an Osmo system with the kids’ own, less expensive, Fire tablets rather than on iPad.
Great Learning Experience and Tool for Youngsters
This ‘Little Genius Starter Kit’ is absolutely superb, since getting it my two young nieces can’t wait to play this when they visit. They love the interaction and the play value this set provides, even after several weeks it is still their ‘go to’ activity when they are round.
The kit itself gives you everything you need for your young ones to play and learn with several different apps which you simply download from the app store. Included is a special stand that you place your fire tablet on and which has a special mirror that re-directs the camera direction so that it is able to recognise the objects your little ones place on the bottom stand area. This is then reflected on the tablet screen and allows your youngster to interact with the apps learning problem solving into the fun they are having.
In terms of value it is proving so popular and the young ones seem to be learning pretty quickly that I would class it as outstanding. I hope that additional apps may be added in the future to extend its capabilities even more, but regardless it is still proving popular so it gets my recommendation 🙂
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely brilliant once set up
It took a while to get this set up to use as I had to download each of the Osmo games onto my Amazon fire tablet, but once it was done it was really good. There are no instructions with the kit, but instead there’s a link to a website which tells you how it all works. I had put off doing this for a while but it turned out to be really easy. So, in the kit you get a stand which you put the Amazon Fire Tablet on (had to remove the case first), then the clever little gadget which slots on to the top of the tablet and this includes a mirror which reflects onto the white play-mat. Also included is a box of shapes and another box containing a dress-up figure with various costumes (different hats, tops and trousers). Two of the games use the shapes and the other two use the costumes. And they are really brilliant, both educational and entertaining. Our grand-daughter is 4 years old and I know she is going to love this, it’s set at about the right level for Reception age at school. All the games are quite involved and use imagination as well as teaching letters, shapes, numbers and all sorts of things. The child puts the pieces provided onto the playmat and the program then interprets them (difficult to explain until you actually do it). I spent a happy hour or so playing with it. It is quite expensive, at nearly 80 for the set, but I think it should give plenty of really valuable educational and imaginative play time.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
This is one of the best learning and educational sets that I have had the pleasure of using with my daughter. The app was simple to get downloaded and set up for use and using it is a breeze.
We used this with a Fire 7 Tablet and it has worked perfectly with it, my daughter loves it.
Contents : * Tablet Stand.
* Mirror.
* Play Mat.
* 2 storage boxes with game parts inside.
Highly recommended from me, treat your kids with this, it’s a fantastic experience.
Pretty Good
This is a very clever idea. You need an Ipad to make this system work. You simply take the Fire Tablet stand, add the projector unit and download the App and you are ready to play. The set comes with four different games to play. They are word/letter association games which build your child’s vocabulary. The kit comes with the stand and projector unit and a number of sticks which you use to build letters, according to what is shown on the screen. This is easily set up and interactive, but our young son got bored rather quickly with it, as he needed help with the “curly” letters. It is a great idea, but I am not sure it is worth the money and to fully expand the utilities of this set, you need to buy more add on’s. I am happy to recommend it, as a starter kit.
My daughter loves this it’s helped make learning fun it’s very neat. This comes with four games ya think other games are expensive to add on to it. 34$ to add the shapes and math app each and 70$ for other game kits. Overall I would recommend

Brilliant! I was actually amazed at this set. It’s expensive but it really is brilliant. You get 4 games included and the other ones you can trial so this is little genius starter kit, maths is a paid extra.
The quality of the kit and the pieces is outstanding, the rubber pieces, the mat and the dress up pieces are all top notch, it feels expensive to touch.
So you download the apps in parent mode, instructions are via a web link and are well done and easy to follow. You then go to the child and run the app, a parent must register the first time then after that it auto logs in.
There is a stand and a ever mirror attachment that goes over the camera then using the playmat or the dressing up mini board whatever you do it copied into the screen and fit into the presentation, really clever. The dressing up app is brilliant, so simple as whatever you put down on the table under the camera appears instantly on the screen no matter how many times you change it then you can colour it in and more on the tablet.
This is so clever and they have done it so well that we were all amazed how good it actually is, we got it with our 4 year old in mind but our 6 and 8 year olds enjoy it as well, it’s the magic of their things going into the tablet.
I can’t rate this high enough
I wrote a more lengthy review but for some reason it just vanished so here is a quick recap, shorter version! hopefully amazon let me submit this one . This is a kit to use with your fire tablet in order to play learning games and activities . Comes packed well- what’s included in the box is the stand and osmo attachment for the tablet the plane white matt, and two boxes one is filled with pieces of parts of the character and the other is curved and straight line pieces to use In the games . The box states the age it’s suitable for is age 3-5 my daughter is going to be 3 soon so I choose this for her. There is an app you will need to download in order to play the games on your device . This was very Straight fwd and easy to set up. If you have a Compatible fire tablet and and a child 3-5 I would recommend this as it’s great to help with early learning.
Revolutionary Learning Tool!
I’ll start this off by saying that is one of the best learning tools i’ve come across for my kids.
We’ve tried a variety of paid for and free education apps but most have fallen by the wayside after a very short novelty period and been replaced by tablet time spent watching Netflix… The one thing we got tablets to move away from!
This Osmo kit though really has sucked both my 3 year old and 5 year old in.
This kit itself is simplistic but a really great idea and everything is of a very high build quality, even the box it comes in is well designed.
You get a very hefty stand that your tablet sits on and a simple clip on ‘mirror’ reminiscent of how periscopes work to divert the camera to face down. Then you put the rubber play mat in front of the camera and fire up one of the many Osmo apps.
The apps will then prompt you to use a variety of shapes, costumes, and other items that come in the Osmo kit and as you move them on the mat it detects them and replicates them on screen. Shapes, counting, ABC etc are all covered in the variety of different apps.
There are a few niggles that i’ll point out.
First one is that all Kid’s Fire tablets come in a protective case for good reason. Having to take the tablet out of the case and stand it vertically on the stand is a little perilous with young kids, some way to lock it to the stand would have been appreciated as it just balances up there.
The second one is that although you get a few free apps to start with, the content is soon burned through or outgrown and some of the prices of the additional apps are eye watering, at least double what I would expect to pay given the high cost of the kits in the first place.
Those two grumbles aside, if you want to invest some money into your kids learning then this really is a great tool and i’m already looking at other products in the Osmo range(mainly the more competitively priced ones!)
I honestly didn’t know what to make of this when it turned up but after some use its probably the best learning resource for tablets I’ve seen.
In the box you get
* the Stand
* Mirror
* Play mat
* 2 storage boxes with parts for the games
The instructions tell you to go to a website to download the games but I found the osmo app on the fire store and downloaded them from there.
The whole thing is easy to set up, click on the mirror over the camera put the tablet I. The stand and the play mat up against the stand then follow the instructions in game.
The games themsleves are excellent, we started with ABCs which gets you to make a letter shape and a picture with the provided squiggles. My little boy (3) didn’t understand at first but with a little help got on his way and found it enjoyable.
What’s great is you make your shape on the playmat and then the character in the app drags it onto the screen and adds it onto a picture.
This is a really great learning resource and we can’t wait to explore it more
Interactive play makes education fu
The most important thing to note about this is that you need a Fire tablet as it is an add on item.
It is only compatible with 7th generation and above so won’t work with the older ones, so check this before purchasing to avoid disappointment.
You can get Fire tablets fairly cheap, either new, reconditioned or second hand and they are a much more affordable option for young children than spending a fortune on iPads.
This is a lovely pre school activity program which uses interactive elements as well as on screen learning.
The kit includes a stand for your tablet, which holds it upright so it can pick up the activity from the pad, such as forming letters and creating characters.
It’s really fun for young children to see their creations come to life on the screen and it provides an excellent way of combining technology with physical play.
Whilst it’s not cheap I think it’s worth the investment, making learning fun is a sure way of keeping your child interested and teaching them skills that are the building blocks for a solid education.
Hope you found my review helpful
A great way to learn and use the Fire Table
You receive a smart looking box which contains Osmo Little Genius Starter Kit.
This is produced for the Amazon Fire Tablets, the kit includes lots, including a stand to sit the Fire Tablet on.
The stand also acts as not just a stand but positions the tablet so when you draw with the sticks and rings and it will come alive on the screen, this is positioning the tablet camera in the correct position etc, we loved this feature.
Your little one will be are able to learn there ABC’s, this is done with a character called Squishy, there are customers to create outfits which will interact with characters again on screen
There are lots for the little one to do with this, it’s a great fun learning tool, there probably isn’t anything you couldn’t do with a pen and paper etc, but the way littles seem to learn now is with tablets and Apps etc, this is an ideal addition to home learning.
Osmo also has a parent app, which will send you information about how your little one is using the apps, again a useful tool
I like this, it’s not cheap but I’m sure it will be used loads, it’s a great way to learn and have lots of fun doing so
My son is turning six next week and starting kindergarten this year. I’ve been worried all summer about his education since the beginning of Covid. I wanted to find something educational to keep him learning, focused, and engaged. I set it up for him and he immediately started playing. He loved using the manipulatives and creating shapes on his work mat. He was engaged and loved all the different lessons. They were so easy and needed minimal adult support (just to set up). The lessons started easy and slowly scaffolded the content. He is already learning so much about numbers, shapes, and letters. I’m so impressed. My parents will be doing distance learning and will use this as part of his instruction. He loves using it so it will be easy to implement. Highly recommend.
I bought the Osmo little genius starter kit for my four year old to have some educational learning opportunities that were still fun. It helps him work on a lot of age appropriate skills. He is learning how to write so the masterpiece game is a great fun way to help him build his fine motor skills. The costume party game allows him to be creative while also figuring out his spatial reasoning. My only concern is that you are supposed to take the cover off the ipad. I have a two year old that likes to play along with whatever the four year old does. I need to maintain parental supervision to make sure the kids don’t knock over the ipad during a spat, but probably not an issue for folks with older kids.
We’ve only had this for a few days, but so far – we are very happy! With our daughter’s preschool cancelled due to COVID, we were looking for a gift that would not keep her entertained & actively learning so when school starts back up, we’re ready for kinder! At first I was hesitant to purchase the Early Math Kit because of its higher price ($119.99 vs $79.99) but I’m SO HAPPY we did because she’s having A BLAST WITH COUNTING. It was super easy to set up. It’s also great seeing her build her numbers/letters with the colored sticks because her fine motor skills are still limited and she struggles with making her letters on paper. The story time game is also great and really helps stretch her mind and think creatively. I’ll update as she plays more, but so far it’s our favorite activity!
10/5/20 update: she’s still loving it – 5 stars highly recommend this because math is included. We’re so happy I’m also buying for my sister’s kids.
So I bought this as my daughter is now home until who knows when. She’s 3 and a half and loves it. Even my husband is really impressed and that is saying something. Really nice apps with good educational aspects. Worth the money.
Holds our 4year olds attention (not always easy to do) and fun to sit and watch him. Really gets him to think while he is having fun. We haven’t told him it’s educational lol
This is brilliant! We brought it for our 4 year old boy and he absolutely loves it. Everything you need is in this box including the stand, mirror, magic mat and bits to play a few games all you need is an iPad and access to App Store to download the corresponding game apps for the osmo. We are going to buy another add on set to complement this to give him more learning games!
Cool games enhanced by iPad interactivity
Pretty cool games that work together with an iPad to enrich younger kids’ gaming experiences with words and narration and help them learn. The games and the iPad interact so kids can learn about writing, making pictures, dress-up and animal stories. Comes with a gaming mat and all the bits and pieces kids need to lay… except the iPad and the Osmo app (which is fairly easy to set up). A more fun way for kids to interact with tech than just ‘screen time’.
4.0 out of 5 stars Education 2020 Stylee
They never had this type of thing in my day. Then again, they never had iPads either. The ‘Osmo – Little Genius Starter Kit for iPad’ is a cute little set designed for children around the 3-5 year range. The iPad is not included, but you do get a stand, camera accessory and some play elements. Also included is access to four games that work with the kit.
It is simple to set up and works well. The games are a cross between straight educational and some fun Wii-esque camera actions. You play on the pad provided and the camera picks it up. The fun is when your ideas are transported onto the iPad. This is great fun, but also very useful as you can compare things like letters side by side. The child can easily see if they have got something that looks right.
The pack does set you back a bit, but you do get a lot in it. It is nice to use the iPad more for education and not just entertainment. We do have education games on it already, but this one has the added interactive elements that really encourage the kids.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for preschoolers
This is great. Very educational. Works great with the iPad and app. Children learn from this, rather than sitting watching you tube this is fun and educational. Keep child’s brain working. Would’ve been great if extras were included for the children that like challenges, as my son easily got bored sometimes and wanted something abit more challenging. For the price compared to other osmo products it’s okay but this is pretty basic too. Would definitely recommend
brilliant idea - modern technology linked to physical toys
I really like this – a physical learning toy linked with an iPad based system – the best of both worlds.
You little ones can manually interact with the pieces (letters, shapes, people – with clothes) whilst the iPad prompts them with a variety of games.
I can see this product growing and growing
make learning fu
This is a good quality learning game for pre-school age children, and is nicely packaged. Whilst nothing replaces face-to-face play and learning, especially for young children, using media in a way that promotes interactive, hands-on, joint engagement is an exciting alternative to more passive apps games and programs.
The four games in the Little Genius Kit focus on the following skills:
– Nursery school letter formation (ABCs);
– creating pictures with sticks/rings (Squiggle Magic);
– dressing/feeding a character (Costume Party);
– bringing animals to life, which encourages problem solving, learning of
letters and creativity (Stories).
It looks like it makes learning fun.
Of course, you will already have an I-Pad!
A super impressive piece of kit designed to work alongside your iPad. This starter kit includes 4 main games incorporating letter creation and practice, designing and copying shapes, costume play and storytelling.
What’s clever about the Osmo is that a small reflector sits on top of the iPad camera and this can ‘see’ what your child is creating on their white mat. My children (3 and 5) find it easy to use and follow. The 3 year old in particular is very stimulated by the games and is asking to play with the Osmo on a regular basis.
For pre-school children, this is a great starter pack introducing them to numbers, shapes and words. For those in early years education, it’s reinforcing what they are learning at school. All in all a brilliant starter kit and a very clever idea.
Fun, creative and educational
Our grandson is a little too young yet for this rather clever little game but we are looking forward to using it with him over the next year. It suggests it is suited from three-years-old, but with an adult to supervise it is easily useable before this and is truly great fun, bringing a whole new area of use to an iPad.
Good
This interactive kit is easy to set up and use, it’s a fair mix between today’s technology and using actual physical objects rather than just starring at a screen. It’s perfect for kids who are on their ipad alot and could do with coming back to the real world, or for kids who don’t have a clue about today’s tech and could do with a little introduction.
Great iPad game for my toddler who is almost 3 years old. Worked well on our iPad mini, and was very quick to set up by just installing the main osmo app and then installing the 4 included games, as guided within the app.
In the box you get the stand and camera accessory needed for the starter kit, along with the mat and two sets of pieces. Each set works for two games each. The pieces are used on the mat so that the camera can sense them and adapt the content on screen.
The games are well pitched for this age group, easy to get to grips with and kept my daughter busy and entertained for a long time.
Within the games, you have creativity such as dressing up characters, or making up pictures using shapes like circles, curves and sticks. These can also be used to make letters, giving the games a good balance of fun and educational benefits.
The whole system is well made, feels high quality and is very intuitive
Little Genius
This kit is designed to use interactively with your iPad, so has a stand to put the iPad on so that it can scan what is happening on the mat. The Little Genius model is aimed at letter formation so has a bundle of sticks to help form the shape of the letters but does not really help with writing as there is no flow to the shape. My four year old was entertained for a while but did get a little frustrated trying to get the right shape with the bendy sticks so she did need support with it, older children will no doubt be able to play on their own with it.
The app comes with the product you just need to download and everything goes back in the box for storage.
The quality is good but I think a little expensive.
Great for helping pre school children in helping motor skills!
Pre reading and story telling!
You get 1 base for iPad
4 game play apps, 38 sticks and rings to help learning the alphabet and costume pieces to change outfits for your character!
Play mats interactive With you’re iPad to help learning as it scans play mat!
