Rubbish pens !!!
4 pens, orange one is completely dry and doesn’t work at all. Purple one works fine, other two nearly dried out after first two hours of play. Shame about the pens but my 5 yr old daughter is happy with the experience so far. Would be great if some replacement pens could be sent ??

Nice idea but not much longevity
While I and my sone were playing with this I kept getting the feeling that this was technology looking for a purpose. Yes what they do is cute and quite ingenious but after a little while we seemed to run out of purpose for it. Everything is baed around drawing something which your tablet then photographs and mixes with whatever they chose to put on the screen.
I’m sure the principle is that they are teaching people to draw but really what they are doing is teaching people to trace. Within a hour or so we seemed to have exhausted the options of what it could really do. There is a lot of superficial variety but ultimately it seems to be a lot of tracing and copying and not much creativity.
Worse though is that the variety can be increased but only if you started buying there extra packages at which point the price goes up dramatically.
Overall I would give this a low rating for value but potentially a high value for usability. The tech here is very simple and I could see this becoming useful if third party developers produce something useful that uses the setup but as it stands it is a very expensive drawing pad aimed at young children.

First check you have the correct tablet as it only works with the one stated. Good little product, does what you would expect, our grand daughter likes it but it is a bit limited in scope and she soon got used to it. Overall a good few hours of entertainment.
This game is really cute! My kid’s ages range between 2 and 10, and it can be difficult finding activities to please and entertain them all. Well this one did! Although only one person is expected to play at a time, they enjoyed watching each other and taking turns.
This game can be used as an educational tool, especially in younger children! It will introduce children to new vocabulary words, and increase hand control and fine motor skills. The only drawback my family experienced with this game is that some of the words do not match the pictures presented. My older children were able to identify this, but my youngest would have been taught incorrectly.
With the exception of a few minor glitches, this game is awesome. Hopefully in time this game will be fine tuned to become the great teaching and entertainment tool it has the ability to be!
My daughter and I have been having so much fun using the Osmo Creative Starter Kit. The kit comes with a stand for your fire tablet (you will need to take the case off your fire tablet if you have one on it), the top reflecting mirror, a large whiteboard, 4 dry erase markers and a pencil case that doubles as the whiteboard cleaner. The set comes with 3 downloadable games and once installed (15 minutes) you are set to have fun! Our favourite game by far is Monster Game as you get to draw shapes on the whiteboard which are then put into the screen with the Monster using them, very exciting to see the drawn shape integrated into the game. We are interested in purchasing some of the add-on games for this system as we have had hours of play together and my daughter is also mesmerised when playing it by herself.
We love Osmo and so we’ve grabbed any edition we can get, but we soon realize that many of their offerings are just updates of the same products. Nothing is new in this package except for the board and the dry erase pouch. They’ve sold boards before but this one seems to be redesigned a little. The dry erase pouch is now red instead of blue. The three games you would use are the same games: Monster, Newton and Masterpiece. Young and old will love Monster! Even if you’re an adult, you will get a kick outta seeing your drawing come to life on screen.
As with all our Osmo reviews, we make sure to emphasize this point… How much your children get out of it depends on if you have case for your Fire tablet and how hard it is to remove that case. No case, or an easy to remove case means you will play it a lot. A hard to remove case is a deterrent that will make you not play it as much. Simple as that. I recommend getting an easy to remove case and let your children play Osmo as often as possible. 5-stars!
This is great! I love all of the Osmo stuff. My daughter loves Mo the monster and making his bedroom. I love that he interacts with the things that you make. I read some people said the pouch/eraser scratched the whiteboard. Well, we just bought a whiteboard eraser as I figured the zipper may scratch it and problem solved. I didn’t feel this was overpriced as you aren’t JUST paying for a whiteboard and markers. You are paying for the entire package like the program and the program is great. You can also download another app for it called masterpiece and it’s fantastic. Great for fine motor skills and pre-writing, drawing etc. Really fun for all ages.
Easy to download activities
My niece absolutely loves this! It’s a great tool to help increase creativity and keeps her entertained for hours. I love how interactive it is too.
From unboxing to use took less than 15 minutes and integrates easily with the Fire HD Kids edition. As you draw into the whiteboard it immediately appears on the fire. The most beneficial thing about this is that it’s a different kind of screen time and gets my niece away from the TV and actually learns something useful with this product.
The Osmo does not require batteries which is a bonus.
Novelty
Not quite sure about this product. On one hand it adds a unique twist to playing games and using apps on the fire tablet. It is enjoyable and easy to use, a real novelty unlike anything we have tried before.
On the other hand it only can be used with three games and the interest in these does not last long. This starter kit is also very expensive considering you still need your own tablet to go with it.
In order for this type of thing to really be successful it has to become popular enough that they make more and more games and apps to be compatible with the technology. However I can’t see this becoming popular enough because of the high price so in the long run I don’t think it is a good investment because the novelty will wear off and it only has limited use with the 3 included games.
Maybe in the future the technology will be expanded and everyone will start attaching these to their tablets for a more interactive experience, and then there will be more variety to enjoy. But at the moment I cannot recommend this.

Something we were going for with the tablet was to be educational and this kit helps with that. It’s is a great add on for the Amazon Fire tablet and is very affordable in my opinion. Everything came with a storage kit and you could use the box for easy storage as well. I would recommend.

This is a great product, I was a bit endure what it would be like but was pleasantly surprised when I connected it all up to my fire tab. Has provide the kids loads of fun and allows them to be on tablet and do something creative. Would recommend

We were so excited to get this set and honestly I am blown away at this interactive educational game for my kids.
The set up was pretty easy, go to playosmo.com/start and set up an account on your ipad. From there you will select which start kits or kits that you have and it will load a page of all the apps you should download for those. Some games will require you to put in a code and you will need your username/password for that. You can also add your children and set up their account here – this way when they log in they just select their character/name – I did this for my children as they are 5 & 7.

We have a few different Osmo sets because our kids are big fans-they fight about using them sometimes.
We have 3 kids (4, 7, & 9) and they all love drawing! They like to use stencils or copy pictures or just draw their own creations. So, an Osmo with a whiteboard that’s for drawing and problem solving is perfect for us! It has the base in this set and all that you need for some fun artistic learning. This would be a great gift for any child who enjoys art.
Helps to develops creativity and keeps kids busy for a long time
Whats an amazing set to develop creativity for a child. It comes in a big box with a stand and reflector for an Ipad or Amazon fire markers, pouch for markers and a drawing board. Setting up is very easy. However, at first use, it takes some time to register and download apps and games. But after it matters of seconds to turn it on. It has a basic three apps which entertain kids and keep them busy for a long time. All three apps are creative and educational for various ages. As the magic show one is more for younger ones and more interactive, as Newton were you need to solve puzzles would be for a bit older. And my favourite one is a masterpiece, where you can use tracing to draw an image which really helps to develop motor skills as well, helps to increase stamina on doing longer assignments. It is a really good addition to any household with smaller kids.

Really fun and interactive item. Plenty of thing your can do and it literally come with everything needed apart from the tablet. There is a mix of just fun and enjoyable crafts, to more educational type things. So it is a perfect all round item. Great for young ones, they will find it great fun. My nephew and niece both love it and surprising seem to be finding the educational side more enjoyable then just the playtime crafts!
Let me start off by saying if you have a child 10 and under And you do not have any of the Osmo systems yet I would highly highly highly suggest getting at least one of them. They are by far one of my kids favorite things to do and also my absolute favorite playtime/learning time games. They are just that good!
This Osmo creative starter kit is my 4th Osmo game. I’m picking the whole set up with another base though because I originally got The one for iPad and the one (and really only) major flaw that Osmo has is that you have to take any cases off of the iPads and kindles to use it with the base and red thing. And I feel a lot more comfortable taking off the case of my $80 kindle than I do my $500 iPad. So I got this one to use with the kindle. And just an FYI I also was able to use all the games for the iPad one I got for the kindle so they were interchangeable.
This creative kit is really nice. My kids really like all 3 of the games it comes with but they really like the one where you have to get the balls into a specific area. They also really enjoy being able to draw things that would usually be to advanced for them becuase of the tracing like game. Mostly though I got this one because there are quite a few other games in the Osmo line that the creative board comes in handy for.
As I said before I highly recommend these Osmo kits. My one child pretty much hates all of those learning games that are out there and even he gets super excited about Osmo. I feel like every single school, home and daycare should have an Osmo in it. They are just that awesome!

Great ,great osmo kit,my daughter loves this ,absolutely fascinated about the way it works.Clever and educational,fun filled activity compatible with fire tablets( but be careful not with the last version of Amazon fire tablet,the one who has been released on market in June 2020),doesn’t work on this ,The set up it easy ( we had another osmo kit and we know how this works )works well and straightforward.The different game modes that they are fun ,creative,use the children imagination,develop ICT skills,speech and language and happy that my child use the tablet in a educational way and not a YouTube zombie anymore 🙂

My children absolutely love this fun filled activity kit which is compatible with the Amazon Fire tablet. Set up was really easy and the application works well with the Osmo board and tablet. The whole kit is easy to use and straight forward. The app has three different game modes which all are fun and creative! This kit allows my children to get creative and hands on, they can use their imaginations and improve their problem solving. This is really educational, I’d of loved to have something like this as a child. I defenitly think it’s good value for money, it’s an excellent add on for the Amazon Fire tablet. The whiteboard is easily cleaned, there’s a handy pouch for the pens. This kit would make an ideal Christmas or birthday gift, it’s really nicely presented. The Osmo creative start kit is fantastic and I would highly recommend it.

After using it for a while it has become discoloured and we have decided to use a rag instead. Be sure to wipe your board clean before storing it.

My daughter had seen this on tv around Xmas time but I couldn’t justify spending over 100 on it. I eventually bought it in the amazon daily deal for 45 it’s incredible. She absolutely loves it. Very educational, keeps her busy and is so much fun. You can also buy add ons for it to do other things. I like the fact the parents can also download the app to see what there children are doing on it. Fun and very easy to use!

A creative and fun solution for the long hours we have to spend at home at the moment.
My nephews (6 and 8) both enjoy it and whereas it might not have caught their attention to the same extent if they had been able to go outside to play with their friends, this has been a great indoor alternative and they are both enjoying it. It works both with their old play iPad and with their parents’ iPad which is in use when the other one charges…

The Osmo was a bit tricky to set up as the iPad could not connect with the whiteboard drawing pad at first and it took us several attempts to get it linked up.
My daughter uses the Osmo to help her with drawing and she loves Art. She used some of the games when she first started using it but now she just uses it for drawing. The drawing tool is a bit tricky at first as you need to look at the iPad but then draw on the whiteboard in front of you – which takes a bit of getting used to.
The guide age for the games is about right but I think that the potential of the Osmo to help with drawing will extend to about the age of 13.
Fantastic product and any child who likes to draw and wants to improve their drawing skills.

Bought for my son for Christmas. Excellent game, he has really loved using his imagination and seeing it appear on his iPad!

I gave this to my little brother who uses it with an iPad Pro 9.7″ and he enjoys it, gets him away from other games, and provides fun while being educational, and it has been fine for the couple of month been using it, but slowly he has gone off it as there are no other apps included, and there are a few free ones but also paid ones which is where the product gets expensive over time.
It provides good fun however and i do recommend it even for the price.

Incredibly Innovative Augmented Reality Games for Kids
This Osmo Creative Starter Kit for Kids is basically an augmented reality toy that works by using the iPad’s camera, included drawing mat and dry-erase markers.
An iPad is required for use of this kit. You start by downloading the 3 Osmo game apps on the iPad, then set up the iPad on the included stand and layout the mat. Then kids have the opportunity to play Monster, Newton, and Masterpiece.
Monster is a game where kids can draw objects for Mo the Monster, and then they’re animated on the screen with Mo interacting in some way. Newton is for older kids because they have to draw solutions to problems presented on the screen – it’s very problem solving driven but some kids may be frustrated and disinterested depending on their age. The last game is Masterpiece is probably one of the most interesting games because it’s all about learning to trace and draw – it also converts photos to easy-to-draw outlines so that kids can draw real world objects more easily.
Ultimately, the set of games is really fun for artistic little ones. The apps are top notch quality with hours of entertainment and educational value. It may not feel like you get much physically in the kit but the apps are no additional cost so keep that in mind that they’re technically a part of the price too.

We have the older version of this and I bought this one for my nephew who has been playing it since Christmas Day non stop!

I found this to be quite an interesting product, simple to set up (just download the various apps, setting up a user account just requires an email address):
– comes with a stand and a mirror that attaches itself over the Kindle camera
– also has what is essentially a whiteboard and 4 coloured pens for drawing on the board
– the games are very child friendly and I did think it was quite clever the software interacted with the user, using the tablet screen effectively but also ensuring the child focused more on the activity itself than pressing buttons on a screen
– there is a parent app as well that can be used for monitoring progress – it’s a bit basic but does provide an insight into usage and progress.
Key downsides?
– the drawing apps are a bit limited in use which makes this – in my mind – quite expensive for what you get
– depending on the case you have, you might have to remove your iPad from your case before using this
– although a couple of applications are free, there are (of course) ones that you need to pay for… which I think is a little cheeky, given the cost of this product.
But overall it will keep young minds occupied (in my mind good for 3-7 year olds although I haven’t explored all of the apps as yet).

Great fun and learning, but ensure you have the right iPad
This toy is great once you are set up on your iPad with it. The drawing app is excellent and suitable for all ages. The drawing/story telling element is great fun, and really does bring characters to life. It also allows for problem solving learning by drawing your way through stories and problems.

I really like how it makes learning interactive with the monster teachers. My wife and I also appreciate the drawing, colouring and writing help that it gives. The tablet camera films the paper and uses programming and AI to grade and assert your child’s answer or work is correct. It works pretty well and is honestly a pleasure to use. The monster teachers encourage your kiddo along the way.
If you’re looking for an educational reason to give your kiddo tablet/phone time this is perfect.

The tree games are Monster, Newton, Masterpiece. The monster game is a story game and keeps kid engaged. The Newton game is science/brain teaser game. The third game Masterpiece is an art based game.

The first thing I really love is that is compatible with a variety of models of ipads, including much older ones! Everyone knows that most school aged kids are a bit rough with stuff, plus not all families can afford the most recent technology.
Note: you’ll want to be fairly tech savvy to set this up; it’s rather labor intensive with the apps, and the games will keep showing up to buy (which you might want to hide from the kids lol).
The games are well designed, educational, and fun. The intensity varies from simple play, to challenging, and even working on art skills.
What comes with it is quite simple; the dry erase markers, and white board are quite basic. A few more markers might’ve been a nice add on considering the price tag.

This is a super cool kit! This kid has the stand and the “projector” like the toddler kit, and it has a dry erase board and markers. The games that are included are a Monster story game, a physics based game, a drawing game.
The box itself is not cheap at $89.99 for what it is, I guess a price for educational games.
One beef I have is with the stand – it requires the ipad to not have any protective casing otherwise it doesn’t fit. I am always worried about breaking the ipad, a five or six years old can be careful but accidents happen so I still prefer to have the ipad in an otter case.

This set is, basically, a drawing set. There’s a mirror for the iPad camera, so it can see the drawing area. There’s also an iPad stand, a wipe clean board, pens and cloth/bag to clean the board.
In terms of physical product, it’s quite satisfyingly well-made. The pens are nice chunky felt tips, with easy to click child-friendly lids. The stand holds the iPad well (I’m testing with a new slightly old iPad Mini 2), including in portrait orientation, which is what’s needed for most of this set’s apps. The camera sits firmly on the ipad, but can smoothly slide off when no longer required, without any risk of damaging the tablet.
I’m fairly impressed with the whole set. It’s very minimal with its use of written words, so it’s easy for children of different ages and with different literacy abilities to understand what’s going on. Even from the opening of the box and packaging, it’s very child focused, to help them be as independent as possible. But for a couple of the slightly more advanced set-up stages, such as installing the apps (and entering your Apple password!), it would almost be possible for kids to do the whole process themselves.
Three apps are available to download for free for this set- Monster, Newton and Masterpiece. This is in addition to downloading the Osmo app, so allow a good few minutes (and ideally a WiFi connection) to set up for all of these. The Osmo app needs a grown up to sign up, with an email address and the usual process.
The main app has a little interactive activity for each sub app- for example a pencil to scribble, and paint pot to fill at the Masterpiece point in the menu. There is something about collecting bits from each of these menu areas and doing things with them, but we haven’t explored them much yet. The main menu has around ten different apps listed, but some aren’t available for this starter kit set- they need extra materials or tools that are in the sets the manufacturers hope you will buy separately. Some of the apps and features get unlocked progressively, the more you use it, which is a nice gentle incentive to keep at it- not that my kids needed any incentive, I couldn’t drag them away from using it once they were ‘into’ it.
The Monster app has a few different activities, for example ‘go on an adventure’, ‘build a house’, which proved to be fairly compulsive entertainment for our 8-year-old. The monster asks you to draw an item (bed, lampshade, etc.), which it then incorporates into the animated story. It automatically senses when the child has stopped drawing and the picture is ready to be captured. I’m impressed by the accuracy of the capture. Simple ‘OK’ buttons when the drawings are complete keep things flowing nicely.
The Masterpiece app has templates to copy, then the drawings created can be saved. It’s quite disorientating to look at the screen to see your hand try to trace a line. The paper versions are wobbly, and the experience is like drawing in a mirror, but it’s a nice way to start and help budding artists. Some of the images to copy are really quite complex, so it’s got a good age range- it caters for the Foundation Phase or preschool beginner (with several handwriting sheets to trace for example), to some pretty-much grown-up colouring in sheets, basically. This should help kids write their post-Christmas Thank You cards! As well as a gallery of preinstalled images, you can trace photos from the iPad memory, or take new photos, which adds a variety of other possibilities.
The Newton app is a physics game, where you need to draw lines to bounce balls to hit targets. Nice simple starter levels give the idea, before progressing onto more complex challenges. As a grownup, I found myself really enjoying this- it’s simple premise but compulsive, bordering on addictive. If it weren’t for the expensive hardware required, this feels like a game that could definitely go viral.
This creative set could be a great success for the school holidays. It definitely has a good chunk of longevity in it, and fun for various family members to try.
Although it is a shame in terms of accessibility, I’m not too surprised that it’s iPad only. It would be quite hard to create a universal camera system that would work as reliably as this on other platforms with their diverse sizes, not to mention having to develop the apps for more than one platform.
When I asked my other half to guess how much this set cost, their estimate was a little over half of what the current price actually is- so in terms of what you physically get in the box, it could be argued that it’s overpriced. But while the actual pieces aren’t complicated, I feel the asking price is fairly justified by well-made, good-quality parts and by the fact that a lot of effort has clearly gone into the apps, and each aspect of the design.
Great game for kids into tech
I gave this as a gift to my 5 year old nephew. I sometimes find it tricky to buy him a present as he isn’t into toys particularly and does mainly play on an iPad. He really liked this, it felt like a good way of giving him a toy that he likes. It was fairly simple to set up but he learns quite a lot from drawing on it and watching his drawings repeated back to him. Great idea.
Fun and learning
My grandchildren have played the Little Genius starter kit for preschoolers. Wee Girl is still within the recommended age group and is quite happy with it. Little Guy is just over the listed age and is ready for new challenges. TheOsmo Creative Starter Kit for iPad is recommended for ages 5-10. Note that you have to download each of the three included games separately. You can also sign up for a parent app that will let you see what your child has played etc.
Comes with the base and reflector, 4 erasable markers – purple, green, blue and orange, a pouch that doubles as an eraser cloth and a drawing board. As always, you’ll need to download the app, have a suitable device and allow access to the camera. The drawing board has a siliconestrap across the top that will hold paper, so you can use paper instead of the board. (Note that you have to take the Ipad out of any protective cases)
I absolutely recommend playing with your small ones. They’ll quickly pick up how to play, but need some direction to get started. (Gramma took a bit to figure out a few things)
Mo the monster is an engaging host, with a nice face and upbeat voice. The pacing of his speech is good as well. Our favourite game so far is Monster. There are 3 different games within this one. What you need to do is draw the items Mo needs and he will pull them into his world. Outfit his bedroom, draw things he need, go on an adventure. Always a positive response from Mo. And he makes them laugh. And the story captured his interest.
Newton is probable the ‘hardest’. It does involve STEM play which is fantastic. Figure out how to draw the lines to the falling objects bounce to the target and many more along these lines. For a five year old this one was a bit frustrating, but once he understood, he was determined to make it happen. And he did have success. For his age, this is one I will play with him. Explain the concept and then look at Osmo to see it in action.
And lots of freeplay with Masterpiece – just draw anything!
There are so many kits and additional games – we’ll never run out of what to play today. And along with that play? Lots of learning. Two thumbs up! And truthfully, every adult wanted to play this too!
Osmo
This is a super cool kit! This kid has the stand and the “projector” like the toddler kit, and it has a dry erase board and markers. The games that are included are a Monster story game, a physics based game, a drawing game.
The box itself is not cheap at $89.99 for what it is, I guess a price for educational games.
One beef I have is with the stand – it requires the ipad to not have any protective casing otherwise it doesn’t fit. I am always worried about breaking the ipad, a five or six years old can be careful but accidents happen so I still prefer to have the ipad in an otter case.
Like the Osmo “Little Genius” Set I tried, this Creative set is a starter kit, that comes with the Osmo Reflector and stand. If you already own that, you’ll need to buy the Creative stuff as an add-on. This is for people who haven’t done Osmo before.
Also like the Little Genius Set, quality is the keyword here, but I’d add Creativity to that (unsurprisingly). It also suffers from some of the same issues that Little Genius does, but they are more severe here. By that, I mean cost. While the sets are expensive and include little in the way of toys, they can still definitely be worth it.
My issue with the Creative set is you’re paying for the Osmo reflector, stand, four coloured markers, pouch and a whiteboard, albeit a very good quality one. For the current cost, I’d love to have seen a few more markers thrown in. While you can use any whiteboard markers with this, the cost feels particular steep considering all the ‘Creative’ apps can be used with a plain white piece of paper. So you’re not really paying for the apps, since they are available for free.
I’d recommend the Little Genius starter kit over this one, for that reason. However, if you have the money for both sets, you certainly won’t be disappointed with the Creative kit either.

I was super impressed with their compatibility. I have an older iPad that I got for free on a bank deal and I was really concerned it wouldn’t work. The fact that they support such a broad range of iPad’s is brilliant, as many newer things stop support to encourage people to buy newer tech. Lots of people sadly toss old tech and it’s great to know that these older iPads could still have uses.
Just make sure yours works with this, by reading their compatibility list.

Each game has to be individually installed as it’s own app, directed from the ‘main’ app. So it really does take some time to get everything installed and set-up. You might want to pre-set it up and then introduce Osmo to your child/children.
While the app very much encourages you to buy more by showing ALL the games, it does state clearly which toy is required for which game. It also, mercifully, allows you to hide the games for toys you don’t have, sidestepping the issue of kids who ‘see it, want it’, for those on a more limited budget.
This Creative set allows you to use the whiteboard with three games, though they can also be used with paper. Every game here feels super creative and ideal for any kid who loves art!
Monster – This is a fun story based game in which Mo (the Osmo Monster and host) will prompt your child to draw various things that he will ‘pull in’ to the screen. He then uses their drawings (for example magic wand) to play around and keep the fun going.

Masterpiece – An extremely art-based game. This is great training and fun for a child who really wants to improve their art or just loves to draw. This is our second Osmo kit and I have to say that I’m beyond impressed. This kit comes with everything you need to get started including the base and reflector. There is a dry erase board, markers and a case that doubles as the cleaning cloth. The apps are downloaded and you’re good to go! My kids love the games that go with this set. There is a drawing story game, a angles game and a tracing game. So many games on the iPad are so mindless, I tend to limit their exposure. With Osmo games, I love watching them using their problem solving skills. Especially with the angle game called Newton. I also love the belly laughs they have when they’re playing the monster drawing story game. It’s cool too, that at the end of the week I get an email with a report of how my kids are doing with the games and all the different pictures they’ve drawn. Overall, we are huge fans of this creative set and Osmo sets in general. I don’t mind giving my kids extra screen time when they’re playing this.

Great starter OSMO set for the budding artist!
Setup was a little confusing the first time around, but after downloading the main OSMO app, giving an e-mail and typing in the number sent in an e-mail, I we were off to the races. All the pieces of the OSMO set: base, mirror and board, are very well constructed and the mirror magnetically attaches to the base when not on the iPad which should hopefully help prevent it getting lost. Almost every iPad other than the first one is compatible, but you will need to be on at least iOS9 according to their site.
The red reflector easily slips onto the top of the iPads over the front camera and the ipad sits in the base. The white board piece also has groves in the top that helps it align with the base so it is all very intuitive and the app helps to ensure setup is correct. Of the three included apps, the Monster app was our favourite as after following along as drawings on the white board come to life and get pulled onto the screen! Newton was a little hard to play as it isn’t as intuitive as playing a similar game on the ipad screen itself and the masterpiece one is somewhat similar as you end up looking at the screen instead of the board to get feedback about drawing. Overall the apps are very well done and the level of engagement made it hard to peel my son away to give his sister a turn.
In terms of cons, we noticed occasional glitches where drawings are “pulled in” with pieces missing; or if the whiteboard is misaligned a red border will appear in what’s “pulled in” as well. There is a noted issue with the Masterpiece app not working well with southpaws due to how the app finds the pen tip. Finally, as with all white boards, it won’t erase perfectly every time so there will likely be the need to buy whiteboard cleaning solution eventually.
Overall, this is a great addition to a tablet that will help budding artists bring their drawings to life but this really is more of a intro set… I say that because there are only three included games and there are a lot of other OSMO apps available. I’m quite impressed by the OSMO ecosystem as there are other coding kits that come with programming blocks, and a Pizza co game with pizza toppings and money pieces which will have your little ones preparing pizza and making change. Very impressed with what I’ve seen so far and I highly recommend this particular set for the little / aspiring artists out there. But based on my experience here, I think these OSMO toys and sets are just an easy recommendation and make for a great learning tool as well and will look to get some more play sets in the future.

Excellent but you’ll probably feel the need to buy more games
Osmo products are original and clever. This kit is a great way to get started. In the box is an adjustable iPad stand, a ‘reflector’ to hook over the iPad camera, four dry-wipe markers, and an eraser that doubles as a storage pouch. There are three iPad multi-level game apps and a parent app to download.
The games major on fun but do encourage some learning too. Monster and Masterpiece are drawing games, while Newton attempts to teach the fundamentals of physics. Monster is most successful so far. The way drawings come to life on the iPad is very clever, but the voice is American – you might prefer a UK voice while your children are still learning. I’d like to see more activities included in the games, given the price. As it is, they could become a little repetitive before long, pushing you into buying add-ons
Be warned that, if you want to use a case on your iPad, you’ll have to buy one from Osmo. Other cases aren’t compatible. The price? 49. Really!
We haven’t finished testing this yet, but I’ll submit my review for now and try and remember to add to it later. We do like what we’re seeing and feel the price is reasonable but have some concerns about the longevity of the games.
