    Bought as a present, so cannot give first hand experience. However, it seems to be doing well so far and living up to past good experience of Panasonic microwaves.

    Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersBought this oven in June last year and is now our main cooking appliance.
    I haven’t a clue how to roast a joint of beef but with the auto program you just bung it in the oven select rare, medium, or well done. Enter the weight and press go.
    For some foodstuffs the auto sensor function means you don’t even have to weigh it !
    I can cook foods that I wouldn’t even attempt to cook without it.
    My wife, who is an excellent cook, loves the speed. 45 mins for a whole chicken. Means you can change your mind at the last minute, or knock something decent up almost at “the drop of a hat”.
    For those who know how to cook it serves as a conventional fan convection oven, microwave oven, or grill whichever you need..
    Unfortunately ours has just failed after 9 months approx. The microwave unit self destructed.
    I contacted Amazon who offered me a replacement or refund as it was still under warranty.
    As I have used Panasonic eqpuioment for 40 years, from electgric organs, through cameras and HiFi to breadmakers and none has ever failed so I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a “rogue unit” or just bad luck, and opted for a replacement.
    The Oven was cellected next working day and it’s replacement was delivered the day after, so 5 stars for Amazons after sales support, and I still stand by the 5 stars for the oven, unless subsequent events prove my faith in panasonic’s quality to be misplaced after all these years!

    I had always had Panasonic microwaves. Alas when my last one died I was tempted by a deal on another brand that appeared to have the same power and specs.

    One year on I was not happy and Jen Ed went back to Panasonic and purchased this. All is good.

    Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersBrought to replace my previous LG combination microwave that I had for around 16 years, I’ve been using the Panasonic for just under a month and so far I’m impressed. The Panasonic seems to be of good quality and similar overall to our model with subtle improvements as you would expect.

    The Panasonic comes with Inverter technology which is supposed to mean that food is cooked thoroughly and evenly to remove the hot and cold patches that you often get with microwaves. I have noticed an improvement with this, but it’s not perfect and if I’m warming something up I tend to still take it out half way through to stir it for the best results.

    I’ve noticed that several review comment on the grill, yes it’s rubbish, it was rubbish on my previous model to. If you want to cook toast, use a toaster, if you want to use a traditional grill then use one. These combination microwaves are primarily microwaves and they do that well. The others features work best when used in conjunction with the microwave function.

    The microwave itself seems really fast, but previous one was 900w so in theory this is 11% more powerful, but it feels like its 30% quicker. You can set this to varying levels which is a nice feature, but one found on most microwaves.

    The internal dimensions of the microwave is simply massive, but it’s packaged like a Tardis giving loads of internal space with only a subtle increase in external dimensions.

    As others have mentioned the Genius feature is a bit of as gimmick, there are around 30 pre-set options but I tend to never use them. Sorry but if I’m cooking a joint of beef I do so in the oven, if I’m warming milk I just put the microwave on for 30 seconds. One of these days I am going to try cooking a whole chicken in it though!

    I hope you found this review helpful.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUnlike the old model which had a drop down door, which was handy to prop items prior to removal of items, this has a side opening door which seems to be in the way, unless you can position the oven so that it opens against a wall. Also there are no shelving lugs to enable shelving to be at different positions when using the grill, you have to use an awkward support mount.

    The replacement for one of the first models of this type LG produced.
    More an upgrade for us because the old one was still working well after 19 years.
    Took a moment to relearn the controls but it was easy to use.

    Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis combination microwave performs really well as a microwave and convection oven, it is let down by a poor performing grill reach really is underwhelming, as an example for toast it dries bread out before browning and takes at least 10 minutes to melt cheese. Mine has broken down and needs replacing after 2yrs.

    Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersPurchased this microwave in August 2021. Many users, including myself, had praised a previous version of this product for giving decades of trouble free service.
    Once familiar with the master control knob system we enjoyed excellent cooking results from this new model.
    The control knob is looking somewhat tired already. What was a glowing background light glares through areas of the paintwork that have flaked away. There is some misting between the sealed glass of the front door. The two small metal objects and piece of plastic seem to have come from the microwave.
    Regret I cannot therefore give a five star review and only time will tell if these small defects prevent the microwave from providing long term satisfactory service.
    Wanted to email these pictures to Panasonic support but could not find a link on their support web page to do so.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Previous Panasonic gave over a decade of trouble free service

    My Previous Panasonic Combination: Lasted for 14 years and 2 months.
    One thing I was really annoyed about when unplugging my old Panasonic, was when I noticed the extraction vent grid at the rear was totally blocked, and I truly believe that it would have lasted a lot longer if I had cleaned this at least once a year with a vacuum cleaner nozzle.

    My new Panasonic NN-CD87KSBPQ
    When operating this for the first time I made sure to heat it up for 5 mins, in order to clear the anti corrosion oil inside (Please read the Operating instructions before use)
    What I have noticed on this model that is a refinement over the last cooker were the following;
    1) Larger internal space. 2) Quieter in use. 3) Easier to operate. 4) The read out display is clearer and more informative. 5) There are no vents on the top but are discretely in place on the sides. 6) The internal grill bar is now more efficient and hidden behind the internal top perforated panel. 7) Easier to clean.
    8) the front door is an improved design compared to my previous cooker and I appreciated this touch.

    I appreciate the efforts that Panasonic have paid to Refinement and improvements, of which is Very Reassuring.

    My closing remarks are this please make sure that you clean the rear Extraction grid plate once a year.

    I love operating this cooker and have no hesitation in Recommending this to all buyers.

    Great microwave combination oven, 1000w power for microwave is magic but also the ease of altering that output so as not to overheat items is also brilliant. The combination programmes are really useful producing perfectly cooked moist succulent roast joints. May not be the cheapest combi-microwave but certainly fits the bill as a great wave of cooking food, normal fan oven has just about become redundant thanks to this, which with my back problems is a blessing cos this being on a worktop is far easier for me to load and unload than low level fan oven is.

    I bought this oven last week but had a Panasonic combination oven years ago which was superb, I made the mistake of replacing it with a Russell Hobbs which was under powered, cheap and nasty. When that failed I bought this model, I am still in the process of getting used to it but cooked a whole 1.7 Kg chicken in it on auto mode which came out slightly pink at the core so had to be cooked for another 20 mins than the auto cook wanted it to be so in future ill set the weight slightly higher. I also cooked a chicken breast wrapped in foil with garlic and ginger on the convection setting and that came out perfect, slipped in a quiche for the last 20 mins which was also perfect.. When cooking just keep an eye on the surface to make sure is not burned by the grill which comes on to heat the oven and maintain temperature. I used the micro part to melt cheese on toast and that was perfect.
    I am pleased up to now but need to get more used to the extensive programming which I find a little complex to be honest.

    Really like this combie but the pan is the same size as my old Panasonic 27ltr version when there is space on the glass platter for it to be bigger. You have extra width, depth and height in the unit which is great but the same size pan? Usual learning curve when you get a new combi of working out how to get the results you used to get with your old one (which had taken you a while to optimise) but no real issues. More metal on this one and less plastic which makes it feel/look more premium.

    Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThe good:
    – Enormous inside without being much bigger on the outside than models with less capacity;
    – very logical, simple controls, with a “hand holding” mode (which can be switched off);
    – feels well-made (though still a bit tinny, like all microwaves);
    – oven heats up pretty fast (I timed 7 mins to 180c) and the temperature, measured with an oven thermometer, is accurate;
    – pretty quiet (then again, our old micro sounded like a helicopter, so YMMV);
    – microwave itself is excellent.

    The “meh”:
    – “Genius” function is a bit gimmicky, though it works well enough if you’re into ready meals;
    – Unimpressed with the grill so far – took 4 mins to toast a slice of bread on one side. Probably good for bacon, etc, but haven’t tried yet.

    The weird:
    – As others have noted, the oven uses the same heating element as the grill. And then Panasonic tell you to use the stand (which has long legs). I baked some frozen croissants (at 180c) in the recommended fashion and the result was burned croissants. The solution is simple: use a stand with short legs, so the food isn’t close to the heating element. The stand from our old micro has two sets of legs (see pic) but the Panasonic one doesn’t. I find it genuinely weird that they haven’t thought this through. They could have given the oven a separate heating element or (at the very least) supplied a double-height stand.

    In conclusion, I’m very happy with this machine, apart from its one foible, and that can be worked around.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, with one weird flaw.

    Before I bought this Panasonic, I read many reviews of various brands and lots of people were complaining about convection being too poor (low temperature, etc.). Many people wrote “it’s not as good as my old Panasonic”. So I decided to have a look at Panasonic.
    I’ve never had a combination MW before so I can’t compare, but so far I’m happy. I’ve been using this NN-CD87KSBPQ for nearly 4 months.
    I must admit I don’t use any of the cooking programs and I haven’t tried combination of convection and MW simply because I never needed it. I use either a microwave or convection. Defrosting works fine, microwave no problem. Convection? I use it mostly for pizza, occasionally pasta bake or vegetarian escalopes. Since I don’t eat meat, I can’t tell how good or bad it is in roasting meat. Yes, it seems like it’s not as powerful as normal oven, but it’s fine if I set the time about 2 minutes longer than it’s recommended on pizza package. It can be a bit more tricky if you decide to bake straight from frozen. I don’t do that, I always defrost it first, then bake as normal. With pasta (macaroni cheese, etc.) I microwave it for 90 seconds or so, then bake it a bit. All seems to work fine.

    Btw, I have relatively dry skin, but if you have sweaty fingers, you’ll need to clean the surface around buttons regularly, if you don’t like dark fingerprints everywhere. Overall, good product. I would buy it again.

    The cable is supposed to be a metre long but is shorter than that. So doesn’t reach the socket. So keeping cables short for safety, can result in people using extensions, against advice, defeating the objective. I will have to get someone to move the socket or put the microwave somewhere less convenient. Programming could be clearer, but will get used to it.

    Pleased with the performance and size of the microwave combination oven. It replaced my old Panasonic flat bed microwave combination oven of 6 years that went bang. I would have preferred a flat bed replacement but the only ones I could find had a drop down door which is impractical for me. the drawback of a turntable system is that to use the microwave you have to keep taking out the metal tray and stand, find somewhere to put them as being round they are difficult to store. And I could get bigger dishes onto the flat bed than I can on a round turntable. Both systems cook the food the same so it is just a question of design as far as I can see.

    Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe first one arrived damaged, so I sent that back and ordered a second. The second one was in perfect condition and has made my cooking so much quicker and easier. I do love cooking, but for one person it’s boring and I’d rather take the faster route and still get the same results if there’s an option and this microwave is it.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI like the speed of the set the time dial and then start nice and quick as I’ve only had this micro for a few weeks I’m taking my time getting to know all the functions, but so far a good machine.

    Great, large capacity microwave. The genius feature is a cinch to operate and auto programs add to that.

    I have had one of these microwaves/combi/ convection ovens for about 25 years now this is my 3rd one. They are great for all types of cooking and if you only have a small main oven they are of great use especially if you have guests over for dinner. I fully recommend paying the extra for all the different ways of cooking. Each time I have had to replace it there have been slight improvements along the way like this one is slightly smaller and less bulky than the one before but still has the same capacity inside.
    This is the best oven you could have, I love it!

    Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis is the updated version of the one I bought about 20 years ago (and was still working). The only reason for getting a new one was because the old one was looking a bit tired. This one had all the same features, looks smart and was a little cheaper than the one I bough all thise years ago. It is also more powerful. I am well pleased.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this to replace a previous Panasonic combination oven I’d had for many years & loved I’m so pleased with this new model & it’s very easy to use, its a higher power with a slightly larger oven but takes up less space as my previous model had a fan at the back. I’m really pleased with this one & would highly recommend good value for money

    Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought to replace a panisonic combi unit that finally failed after 14 years.
    This unit is slightly larger inside and the rotary button takes you through the combi options very easily
    Did think I was getting an all stainless steel exterior like the old unit. This unit has silver painted sides and top

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI love it now I’ve gotten used to it beware it takes a while and to start things do get overcooked I got annoyed a few times and cheesed off but the tip is this is 1000 Watts much more than most microwaves so when using combination turn it down a bit or chips and stuff will be rock hard but when you get the hangover of it its brilliant you can do almost everything and its so easy to clean yay

    Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought this as a replacement for another panasonic microwave that I had for many many years. It was difficult to find a large microwave with the features I wanted. My previous one was very feature rich. I wanted similar features – auto reheat, auto defrost, the 3 combinations that you could use in different combinations. I was a bit off with having to turn a dial to select various things, as my previous one was completely pushing buttons. Turning a dial seemed rather old fashion. However, I quickly got used to it and so far I am very happy with this microwave. It is more powerful than previous one and has all the features I want.

    Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersBought to replace a near identical model that expired with a loud fizzing noise just after its 13th birthday. Dismantled it out of curiosity and it was very solid and well put together inside so hope the new one, which is slightly larger, is just as good.

    Unlike the old one it does not have a stainless steel outer case but looks OK.

    19 buttons have been replaced by six buttons and a dial. It has lost the ‘set time and go’ facility, you have to set a power level first. There is one extra power level setting, 800 watts when the old one went from 1000 straight down to 600.

    It has also lost the ability to set times in ten second increments beyond the ten minute mark but that is of no importance. I frequently pressed three adjacent buttons very quickly to give 11 minutes and ten seconds. It was a lazy technique which worked but the alternative one button plus dial is easy enough especially with the much improved display panel. But slower!

    From memory the new one is similarly priced to the 2007 model and is looking to be a superb piece of kit. Very pleased to have spent the extra money for something that gives pleasure rather than something more limited.

    Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersDid some research on this as years ago I was a microwave sales coordinator and demonstrator so know what I am looking for and what I want from a combination oven. This is a brilliant oven and has some really useful set menu settings. My husband got to grips with it very quickly, my only criticism is that unlike my previous oven I could combine at my own choice of levels microwave and convection as I would often choose a low level of microwave with 120 degree convection for example….. however with this model you have only the set settings of which there are several to choose from. I did contact Panasonic to make sure I wasn’t missing something but received only a standard email back giving me the instruction page number which I had already seen! If you are looking for a good multi function over then this is the one, plus it has the option of being built in.
